[ORV] happy Han Myungoh before I explore (my interpretation of) his trauma ^_^
Tumblr media
[CONTENT WARNING: Body Horror / Gore underneath]
Han Myungoh had to save his daughter in exchange for her freedom and his humanity
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Han Myungoh did try killing the baby before it was born, but he changed his mind later and gave birth to Han Dareum and loved her. SOURCE: Chapter 251: Episode 47 – Demon King Selection (5)
Tumblr media
Still, it must've been scary living his entirely life as a straight cis man then suddenly being hit with the fear of pregnancy, having to experience what it's like to have a living being growing inside you. (Even if not physically, since: 1. The specifics never got told in the novel 2. Han Dareum is a curse 3. Han Myungoh himself said he "give birth from the heart.")

So I've said multipe times now (here and here) that thinking nmj is just so blinded by privilege he doesn't undertand that acting out of line gets people killed is, in my opinion, a misunderstanding of his character that ignores the part where he's, you know, actively dying the whole time and thinks that's a good thing. But that doesn't mean I don't think privilege plays no role at all in how he views the world.
Specifically, his view that death (at least premature or violent death) means something.
Death isn't always a tragedy to NMJ, but it is always meaningful. If you kill an evil dangerous person for your righteous cause, that death had meaning. There was evil in the world and now there is less of it. Similarly, if you die in the pursuit of your righteous cause, that death has meaning, because the sheer dedication you gave to it that you were willing to die for it will further that cause, and your bretheren will be invigorated by your sacrifice to fight even harder.
If a death isn't meaningful, that's an injustice and it is up to the living to give it meaning. That's what cuts so deep about his father's murder. There were no consequences, no changes, no meaning. Wen Ruohan was just going to get away with it! He fights and wins an entire war to make it mean something, to make it so that the unjust murder of Nie Mingjue's father is part of Wen Ruohan's downfall.
But this is a view he can only hold because he's the kind of person who's death will be meaningful. Most ordinary people's deaths are meaningless. Not ontologically, not inherently, but they are made meaningless because no one cares. For death to be meaningful you either have to be so powerful that anything you risk your life for will be impacted in some way. (Like, say, if you sacrifice a long life for immense martial power in a faustian bargain with a blade) Or if people with that kind of power care enough about you to do so for you. For most people, this isn't true. A starving street kid has no power to change the unfair world that put them there, even if they risk their life trying, and no one will do it for them once they die.
Nie Mingjue knows this in abstract, and of course rightfully believes it's wrong. But all that does is make it yet another righteous cause people should be willing to die for. Everyone's deaths should mean something, we'll make it so or die trying!
This is what the conflict between nieyao is about at its core. Because Jin Guangyao, fundamentally, cannot conceive of his own death as meaningful. Nie Mingjue grew up around powerful men who could change the world but refuse to do so because god forbid they risk a single hair on their perfect heads. Meng Yao, on the other hand, grew up in an environment where no one of importance would blink twice if you died. He was surrounded by meaningless death. Indeed his entire early life is defined by that lack of care.
Meng Shi dies and no one cares. Meng Yao gets thrown off a flight off stairs and no one cares. He has to be the one to do the caring, and once he's gone no one else will do it for him.
So he has to live.
Jin Guangyao eventually gets far enough that he actually does aquire the power to change some things... as long as he's alive. If he changes too much, holds on too tightly to his ideals, he'll die and it'll all be for nothing. He can't sacrifice himself for his goals because doing so would immediately render those goals unobtainable. No one will care about what he tried to do. He won't be a heroic sacrifice, he'll just be trash that finally cleaned itself up.
And well... Nie Mingjue dies, and someone makes it mean something. Makes it mean so much that the entire story of mdzs would not exist without it. Jin Guangyao dies and it doesn't mean anything. Most people are glad to be rid of him, and the few that are not don't do anything to change that.
#mdzs#mdzs meta#nie mingjue#jin guangyao#meng yao#nieyao#of course the inherent tragedy is that nmj is totally THE guy to ask if you want your death to mean something#nmj's reaction the the fact that most ppl's deaths are meaningless is to go: yes and I should change this.#If everyone thought like me this wouldn't happen anymore I simply need to get EVEN MORE HARDCORE about justice to MAKE them care#and this quality- which makes him the one person perhaps capable of making jgy's death mean something- also makes him a threat to his life#so jgy kills him because he needs to live. And then his beliefs about the meaninglessness of his own death are doomed to be true#what else was he supposed to do? just die and TRUST that someone would make it mean something?#like his mother trusted that his father would come back for them?#of course he can't do that.#just like how nmj's upbringing means that by the stairs he can't see how jgy- son of a sect leader and extremely capable-#is any different from the men who wrung their hands and told him that wen ruohan is just *too powerful* they can't do anything about him.#(*guy who killed wrh and wil go on to kill jgs voice* i just can't do anything about my dad being evil)#if jgy had agreed to risk his life and asked nmj to make it mean something if he died nmj would have said yes.#which is why he can't understand jgy wouldn't just ASK that.#jgy meanwhile has not been informed that was a fucking option and if he was wouldnt be able to trust that it'd actually happen.#for reasons outlined above#ahhh tragedy and inability of characters to understand each other i love you

my second pass at a sonadow fankid. this time, it's a little more serious than the looney tune that is dawn lol.
this is 3. he was created by tails in an effort to develop the "ultimate defense system."
basically, tails was thinking back on how, during the forces war, eggman was able to conquer the world when sonic and shadow weren't around. and, well, he got a little worked up remembering that! he got mad! yeah--real mad!
so, tails did what all great minds do when they get mad, and he conducted some... let's say... unethical science experiments.

Of all the missed opportunities with Gongyi Xiao (of which there are many, why would you do that to my boy), I think the one I pine over most is that open and available invitation to Qing Jing Peak.
Because, if timed right, the possibilities are fucking hilarious.
You’re Gongyi Xiao. Your pride has taken a little bit of a hit after the Immortal Alliance Conference both because everyone expected you to place first (and you didn’t) and your teacher got so distracted by the one who did place first that you’ve felt a little… neglected. But you’re a nice person, and the conference ended with the deaths of so many of your shidi and shimei that you let the petty concerns roll off your back.
Except then the guy who pulled the upset at the conference shows up at your sect and pulls an upset on every other aspect of your life. The girl you like and who you thought liked you has heart eyes for him only, your teacher is definitely putting you on the backburner to the point of handing this guy most of your responsibilities (and he’s killing it, he’s doing amazing, it’s the conference all over again), and everyone else in the sect seems to prefer him to you. No one’s cruel about it, and they’re still listening to you - mostly. Most of the time. But you have the sinking suspicion that if it came to an actual disagreement between the two of you, you know who’d end up on top. Plus he looks just like you, except hotter. Maybe that’s not the kind of thing a guy like Gongyi Xiao outright perceives but there’s a vibe. The vibe of inadequacy.
(And because you’re Gongyi Xiao and a good person, you don’t have the kind of suspicion in your heart to start looking for ulterior motives or conniving plots - but even if you did, what would you find? The guy who is looking more and more like your replacement came to the sect injured. He looks sadly and deeply into the distance every time his original sect or shizun are mentioned. He’s polite. He’s talented. What are you supposed to say, that he survived unexpected disaster at the conference only to hatch some sort of hostile takeover plot in the meantime? Who would believe that.)
So, maybe it’s time to step back. Clear your head. Shake off the ridiculous and unfair jealousy, and give both yourself and Luo Binghe some space. What better time to take Shen Qingqiu up on his offer to visit Qing Jing? You can’t stop what’s happening regardless, so maybe it would be better not to be there while someone else swoops in and steals your whole life. (And maybe, tucked away deep in a not-so-good-of-a-person-after-all corner of your heart, there’s the possibility of slipping a few hints to Shen Qingqiu that his disciple is alive and well at another sect. Purely because Shen Qingqiu deserves not to mourn for someone still alive, and not at all for the sliver of hope that he’ll take the disciple he misses so much back so you can go back to the way things used to be.)
Meanwhile, unbeknownst to anyone else and especially not Gongyi Xiao, Luo Binghe is losing his mind. He had a plan. He was establishing himself. He was moving slowly and carefully so as not to startle Shizun, and this guy gets an invitation? Just, welcomed right in, specially, by Luo Binghe’s teacher? What did he do to deserve that? Is Shen Qingqiu going to poach Gongyi Xiao? As his replacement? So he can have a squeaky clean, good, human disciple like he wanted? Luo Binghe is better than him. He proved it at the conference. He proved it before the conference. He’ll prove it again if he has to. (He’s more attractive than Gongyi Xiao, too, and Shizun can hardly fail to notice if they’re side by side in front of him, so there.)
The Old Palace Master is using every trick in his arsenal to keep Luo Binghe from following right behind Gongyi Xiao while cursing Shen Qingqiu under his breath and frantically moving plans around to push up the date for the peak lord’s fall from grace, Luo Binghe is packing his bags furiously and tearing his own plans to shreds in the wake of his determination to prove himself absolutely irreplaceable, and Gongyi Xiao is enjoying a nice cup of tea and personal tutoring from Shen Qingqiu while making increasingly pointed comments about how sometimes missing-and-presumed-dead disciples just… pop up somewhere, at random, a few years after the fact.
Shen Qingqiu is blissfully (miserably) unaware of the chaos about to descend upon his peak.

guys what about an au wherein buck is the one who 'dies' in the lab and gets stuck in a government lab..... and then we see bobby struggling with losing another kid but 'for real' after so many close calls with buck before, and we get eddie who gets the call in texas and has to tell chris and so we get BOTH of them struggling with not being there 'when buck needed them' like, chris is angry at not being in LA but also he's pissed that eddie wasn't there to watch buck's back and he's angry at himself because eddie wasn't there for buck because he was in texas for HIM. and we get chimney who's struggling because buck sacrificed himself to get chim back to his sister and his niece and nephew because we know he'd be like 'if its gotta be anyone it should be me' because everyone else has kids and eddie's not there anymore and he's always a bit self-sacrificial when the others are on the line. but chimney can't let it go because he's face to face with maddie's grief and he's like 'was i even worth that? why would he make that choice'.
and then we get athena who can't let things go because she's trying to help bobby and somehow buck manages to get word out to like. karen or athena and we get them teaming up to help break buck outta there and then the second eddie sees buck he kisses him because he sped run his feelings realization leading up to bucks 'funeral' and so he just goes for it.

can't stop thinking abt the concept of arthur hearing about this 'emrys' throughout different occasions here and there in the beginning of s4, and at first not thinking much of it, then when the name keeps getting repeated from different villains/sorcerers he interacts with, it finally catches his attention and he becomes genuinely concerned. he makes it a bit of a personal mission to find out who he is, but it's all a very lowkey side plot that's not the main focus (think of the 'traitor' arc also in s4). of course he talks about it with merlin, but to avoid suspicion, merlin shuts him down every time and tries to make him think this mysterious sorcerer is nothing to worry about.
as more time goes on, and the more arthur learns about this powerful sorcerer always protecting him from harm, and as much as he hates to admit this to anyone, most of all himself, as he's only ever been taught to hate magic and anything to do with it- he starts realizing 'emrys' is less of this evil entity that he has to hunt down and kill, and more of a guardian angel that he has genuine interest now in getting to meet. which would also be interesting in terms of contradicting morgana's plot in the same season.
then, in the s4 finale, something that merlin does or says at the end makes him finally connect the dots. he says nothing. the season closes with him just.......... left with the unbearable conflict of it all. the feeling of absolute betrayal from his own friend- the closest person to him that he turned out to not really Know at all, the anger at being lied to and his own obliviousness, all with also the gratitude to this man who has been protecting him without asking for anything in return, the confusion of why he's doing any of it, and the question deep down whether he even deserves it. he is just. left with so many questions and contradicting feelings that he just... says nothing. and we are left with this as the cliffhanger for s4's ending.
#LISTEN!!!!!!!!!!!! 5x01 then goes the same way supergirl 5x01 did w the kara/lena confession#merlin finally confesses to him but he already knows!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and now he doesn't know what to Do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!#LIKE BABY GIRL THE DRAMA THE BETRAYAL THE CONFUSION THE ANGST............... god#then over the next 2 or 3 eps hes Processing it and being all angsty#and gets to KNOW the amount of things merlin had done for him & that's what changes his view. basically just 5x13 but more prolonged#and then the season goes w him accepting magic and legalizing it#and we get to SEE him ruling in peace & merlin being his advisor#and we could still v much have a tragic ending. hell even the exact same one#EXCEPT the past few months/years leading up to it would have the prophecies actually coming true#literally just........... arthur restoring peace with merlin at his side#merthur#bbc merlin#to get back to the point of the og post tho rather than what happens after im fr just......... thinking so much abt arthur#just! getting to find out about 'emrys' at all#like this is literally SO interesting to explore. even if they hadnt really resolved it in this exact way#like the 'dragoon' persona that arthur knew about but never really knew who he was (till the end- tho he didnt even get to reflect on it 💀)#its just truly insane that the person morgana has been obsessing over 24/7 and so many characters speak of in the show...........#arthur just knows NOTHING about#theres nothing except 'not even emrys can save you now' which of course he wouldn't even remember given everything else going on

Old man Ogron
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The idea of immortality goes into forever but of course they can still be killed by somebody else, so as long as eternity sounds they still would die you know. And I thought about it for a while, I came to the idea that Ogron would maybe be the last one alive. No this isn't a sad story type of thing Ogron is in peace with his memories and not in agony. This is just so long time skip of -I tried to find where I said it but failed miserably- when I headcanonning that Ogron would want to be those classical wizards during his elder days with this vibe around him. You knoww the "wizard"tm
A couple of details I want to mention
-the wizards were the 4 kings of Tir Na Nog for a long time so of course they influenced it over the centuries, the emblem on Ogron's hat is a symbol of "fairy hunter" it's like how war veterans have it. There's status of those emblems that represents your count. Ogron's is "uncountable amount Fairy Hunter", which is the highest that he wears with pride there's an X on the middle and wing symbols next to it.
-there's 3 circles on top of that on his hat those circles are to honour the other 3 black circle wizards and the same goes for the 3 circles on the thread holding his cape together infront of his chest.
-He's holding the black circle on top of his hat instead of hiding it inside of him. He's obviously stronger now so he doesn't even needs to do that.

if i had more time/energy/motivation i would write a fic that's UT Sans/Reader and seemingly very normal and slice of life
but you notice tiny little quirks and oddities around Sans and it's slowly revealed that it's actually Dust and he's taken this Sans' place to get close to you

Guessing Dungeon Meshi character classes, just for fun! Marcille is obviously a wizard, and Chilchuck is a rogue. Senshi seems to be a fighter with one (1) level in ranger, favored terrain: dungeon. Falin functions as a cleric, but in a system without divine patrons.
Laios..... Laios is a paladin, but he's a pathfinder paladin. A tank with some limited healing capability. All his points slam dunked into animal handling to compensate for his charisma modifier.

(No context, but each image is its own thing. Wish I could share more but they're either too messy or half-done, but showing them would kinda spoil the surprise.)
His hair breaks my brain so much. And I keep forgetting his goatee and then wonder for an hour what's off about his face (I have the same issue with Gonta's eyeglasses tho lol)

#Marvel#Daredevil#Born Again#DaredevilEdit#Matt Murdock#Wilson Fisk#My GIFs#FiskMatt#GIFs I had to go make for very obvious reasons#Now I can watch them on a loop over and over#I still can't believe Fisk just drops him that last bit lol#But I can see in the third gif that Matt completely went boneless on him by that point#I guess that would compound on the shock and surprise and the not caring 😅#Not like Fisk doesn't have the strength to hold him though!#Anyway I'm still gonna laugh that Fisk can be depended on for a surprise trust fall (halfway)#Look! they held hands!#And I wouldn't have it happen any other bloody way. (✿◡‿◡)#Something something “hand in unlovable hand” something “I hope you die I hope we both die”#I know the next episode shows Fisk kinda shocked but like#if I could get ANY sort of realistic fallout from this moment that'd be nice#But I also think I've given up on BA understanding Fisk's complexities#They started out okaaaaay-ish? but it's really just been a downward spiral ever since#Clearly all they want is a flat‚ super evil villain/contemporary authoritarian allegory whose only redeeming quality is he loves his wife#Any implication he has a moral code outside of that can gtfo#Bah anyway what I'm saying is it would be nice if he has trouble hating Matt quite as much after this because that would just be realistic#for anyone!#BUT Fisk/Matt can go back to their same ol antics and hatred when the next calamity hits and puts them at odds#I will of course keep my expectations under the floorboards#That's not going to happen#BA suuuuuuuucks in so many ways and one of the biggest ones is Fisk

[I.D. Digital three panel comic using Baxter Stockman from TMNT 2003 and Flora Chau from Jentry Chau vs the Underworld. The first panel shows them from behind, staring at a building currently in flames. The light from the flames reflects onto Stockman as he stands slouched forward slightly, while Flora, as a ghost, hovers in midair. Unlike Stockman, the light does not reflect on her. The second panel shows them both from the front, eyes wide in matching stressed and shocked expressions. In the last panel they make eye contact, Stockman raising his arms in a helpless shrug and Flora putting her palms together to gesture forward. Stockman says "Minor setback?" and Flora answers "Minor setback." End I.D.]
The fact that they both refer to events where a building is destroyed and people almost die as 'minor setbacks' is so funny to me lol
Also full disclosure I drew ghost Flora because she's short as heck and it worked better for putting these characters in the same frame to have her hovering, but the implications of Stockman just being able to see ghosts for some reason are also very entertaining to me
