admittedly i dont specialize in moshang so perhaps i am simply not seeing the scholarly discussion on the topic but whenever ive seen the idea of airplane being the guy who wrote the sv world into existence and now Lives There acknowledged in any kind of metaphysical capacity its always either been "airplane by writing the world literally created it" or "airplane was getting prophetic visions beamed to him from another world and he wrote that into a book in his" and tbh neither of these has ever really resonated with me. i dont want to overplay his involvement in the higher powers of the universe, but as a writer myself it kinda rankles to have his creative woes, which are covered in the story and are sort of the backbone of The Entire Setting, dismissed in such a way that would rob him of authorship of his own work. his writing does not innately have some power to make worlds into reality, but it's HIS.

to me he is not a god, not a prophet, just a poor author who has had his most successful work plagiarized by extra-dimensional beings who may or may not be fujoshis

Had a thought about the Reluctant War and made myself a bit sad and I have no idea if it'll make it into the story proper so I'm going to inflict it upon all you guys:

Dick Grayson on the streets of Gotham trying to do everything he can to help as everyone join the ghosts in fighting the GIW, suddenly has a version of the GAV barreling down towards him and for some reason he can't get out of the way in time.

He thinks he's about to join the army of the dead in a whole new way, when the tank fo a vehicle is suddenly sent flying as something massive charged it from the side. He hears a familiar bellowing and then realizes that it's Zitka, a ghost after passing away peacefully a few years before.

She wasn't apart of the army of the ghosts, wasn't brought in to fight. She's just been following her tiny human child around all these years and now that there's enough ecto in the air to do so, she's going to protect him with all her might.

Dick is emotional, so thankful to have his old friend back, but the city is still in a state of chaos. He gets onto Zitka's back and they get to work, running - flying - around helping to grab the injured and whisk them away to safety or take out other GAVs and the like.

It's absurd and freeing and wonderful all at once to be literally flying through the skies of Gotham on the ghost of his elephant best friend, and if Dick wasn't already on the side of King Phantom he is *now* and -

He gets shot off Zitka's back.

A GIW agent was aiming for the Ghost elephant but somehow *missed* and hit Dick instead. Not enough to injure him too badly, but enough to send him flying off Zitka's back and plummeting to the ground. His grapple is broken, and Zitka is diving for him but she's being shot at and she's not going to make it in time and -

A hand, reaching out to him in midair, familiar with its callouses and strong grip as he reaches out and grasps it, body suddenly swinging in a different direction and muscles acting on memory as he falls into the old, achingly familiar routine of his childhood. His mother, ethereal and bright as she smiles down at him, hanging upside down from a bar suspended from nothing but open sky as they swing and he is let go, flipping on instinct and caught by the steady strong hands of his father.

The Flying Graysons reunited in the skies above Gotham, Dick's ghostly parents determined to ensure their little bird never falls the way they did.

honestly obsessed with this quote from the cool down thing from ep 1 of downfall from taliesin: "honestly, this is just caduceus' wildmother. this is literally just a version of caduceus going, "perhaps i wasn't clear. i'm hungry all the time, and i'm violent - hi, im nature. nice to meet you."" like, the idea that nature/the wildmother is not only beautiful and warm and holding (as depicted often with the wildmother and caduceus, she's often described as holding him in commune like a mother holds a child) but also the wild sea (for fjord) and also something that is always hungry. like the wolf that asha is, even when she's in the shape of an elf woman. and also like, i wonder if there's a connection there to caduceus being so thin (unhealthily thin, as described when he's first introduced. something like how uncared for nature gets swallowed up by vines, or dies without water. kind of like the savalirwood and the grove and and)

also inchresting to me that taliesin says this is a version of caduceus. like what do u mean by that. a version of what he worships? im guessing something like that. but also a person he’d be if he wasn’t treated with kindness? like how exandria is being ravaged and burned and destroyed, the air choked with smoke and ash, by the calamity? like hungry feral wolves?

and i am also thinking abt how the first conversation tmn ever have with cad they ask him if he’d be willing to kill people because he’s soft and among nature and standing in a garden making them tea, and he replies of course, have you seen nature? violence is extremely natural. (and thats not framed as something good or bad, its just true.) like word im hungry all the time and im violent! lets fucking gooooo!!!!!

It is very likely that the Penrose was the only environment where Ariane could paint. Not only was she free of the judgement of Rotfront's community, she was even provided all the tools she would require to paint the way she wants. I doubt it's a skill she managed to learn way beforehand. It doesn't seem like her mother's radio station would have had many art supplies, save maybe for a pen and paper. I believe it's a skill she developed over the 4 years or so that she spent on the ship at the time.

Rotfront would've been an environment that would actively stifle her creative spirit - I very much doubt her aunt would support the pursuit of art, her letters very much give off the impression that she's quite "orthodox" when it comes to the way a child should be brought up within the Eusan nation.

Safe to say neither her teachers nor most of her peers would approve either, hell, it'd probably only make them see her in an even worser light. I feel like even if she had drawn beforehand, she certainly didn't during her time in Rotfront. We never really see that many people get what they want within Eusan's system, the only real example I can think of being Replikas and the objects they practically require to keep their neural patterns in check. Only on the Penrose program do you actually seem to get what you want. They only really treat you as a person when you're flying toward a slow and isolating death.
