Onceler headcanon…? Idk just listen me.

So, firstly I think that Oncie is older than Brett and Chet.

I think that twins mom really loved twins dad but the twins dad died after few months they born. Then she meet with Onceler’s dad, which is rich and have a child who is Onceler. Onceler’s dad’s money is only thing she wanted, that’s why she married with him. Then she poisoned him to just get his money.

What she didn't expect was that Onceler’s father bequeathed a really large portion of his money to Onceler and demanded that even one person involved in this money go to prison until Onceler turned 18.

And that’s why she always hate Onceler but try to be nice just for the money.

And when Onceler became 18, he never give that money to any of them, instead he immediately goes to find a place to make thneeds when he graduates.

In my opinion, Brett and Chet aren't as bad as Isabela. I think Onceler, Brett and Chet were close as kids. But one day their father left, leaving their mother alone with her three children. Onceler was very similar to his father, which is why Isabela made him the outcast of the family. She encouraged Griselda and Ubb to do so. And the only people who didn't understand what was going on and still treated Onceler well were his brothers. Isabela didn't like it and every day she encouraged the boys to treat Onceler badly, saying it was nothing. Like little children, Brett and Chet began to listen to their mother. They weren't terrible, but they made Onceler feel bad every day. Brett and Chet often slap Onceler and stuff like that, but that's because they show him love. Because no one showed these three how to show love. They didn't have a good example. Despite this, Brett and Chet still love Onceler, but they also want to please their mother because they want her attention. The three of them had to be doing something to get her attention.

At the end when Onceler's family leaves, Brett and Chet look like they care about Onceler and they would like to stay with him, but they don't say anything because they don't want to oppose Isabela. When Isabela says that Brett is her favorite child now, Chet looks at it like it's unfair but doesn't say anything. In the deleted scenes the twins are actually worse, but in the movie they are not that bad.

In my opinion, Isabela simply screwed up as a mother and couldn't raise her three sons properly. That's my opinion.

Idk if it’s just me but the oncelers family’s house and the house from the Pearl/x film trilogy are VERY similar. I could write a whole post with an analysis on the similarities and i have a really good theory that’s really crazy so let me know if you wanna see that because i think i might be onto something.

I Love both of theese movies and I know the are VERY different but there are some similarities i just can’t ignore atp 😭

My Doctor Who/Onecest crossover theory

Buckle up bitches, this is gonna be a long one. (thanks to @thneedvillle for helping me form this theory!)

This thought occurred to Onecest-obsessed me while wondering how two versions of the Onceler can exist simultaneously. That made me think of one of my favorite shows, Doctor Who. In my theory, the Doctor accidentally traveled to another universe (the Lorax movie's world). While attempting to get back, he accidentally messed with the time in that universe and Oncie and Greed ended up in the same time stream. They fell in love without even realizing they were the same person, and at some point they found out but decided to continue their relationship. The Doctor knew they were the same person all along, but he wanted them to figure it out for themselves because they'd hate each other if they knew in the beginning. Oncie would hate Greed for what he's become, and Greed would hate how Oncie's choices created him. The Doctor wanted them to get to know each other first so Oncie's love could rehabilitate Greed (cliche, I know). The two ended up begging the Doctor not to fix the timestreams, and he carefully calculated it to see if two versions of the Onceler existing at once would be safe. After he realizes it wouldn't be, he compromised by taking Greed and Oncie to their own universe where they can live together without threatening time itself.

I know Onecest (Onceler x Onceler) was a dark time in Tumblr's history, but when it serves as a metaphor, it actually makes a really good point.

Every movie can be viewed through 'critical lenses' or basically, with mindsets. For example, you can watch The Truman Show (1998) with a focus on 'what roles do women play and do they really have power' and quickly come to the conclusion that a society centered around a male (Truman) really holds no place for women (all the women in his life were easily replaced, cast out, or held no real importance besides keeping him there). With this in mind, you can look at the Lorax (2012) with a focus on the relationship between nature and greed, and money and power.

In the Lorax, we see corporate greed, driven by a thirst for power through having more money, repeatedly disrupting natural order. First it happens with the Onceler who cuts down all the truffula trees so he can become rich, then by O'Hare and his monetization of air, and it presumably happens in other situations like the Oakamatic (fake trees). I'm gonna focus on the Onceler in this though.

Throughout the movie, the Onceler serves as a metaphor for capitalism. He starts out innocent enough, like an entrepreneur, just trying to get his work out there. It's within control and no natural order is really being disrupted, just like the intent with capitalism. He's only taking some of the tree's fluff and nothing is getting consumed beyond any means. However, that all changes when greed steps in. Once the Onceler gets greedy and wants to become rich (his descent documented through the song 'How Bad Can I Be?') natural order suddenly becomes sacrificed. Now overconsumption is an issue, he's failing to replant or replace the losses, factories are being built where they shouldn't be. As far as the movie and analogy goes, the Onceler illustrates how quickly capitalism can descend from being an orderly and effective system, to a breeding ground for destruction, therefore tying back to one of the movie's themes: Corporate greed disrupts natural order.

How does this relate to Onecest? Glad you asked. If we establish the Onceler as a symbol/metonymy for capitalism, it's quickly made clear: capitalism can only love itself. This ship originated because the audience was never given anyone plausible to ship the Onceler with at any point in his story (aside from the Lorax but that was beyond cursed both as symbolism and as something to witness). Similar to capitalism, it can't love anything. It does not benefit the young or the old or nature or humans or animals. Capitalism can only realistically love itself, which is why it survives in a society like the USA today.

We can take this a step further. Since Onecest was based around the young Onceler and the slightly older Onceler, one can further this analogy by saying: Those supporting capitalism under the belief that they can make it (young Onceler), love capitalism because of a deep-rooted desire for money (older Onceler). Then ultimately, at the present time of the movie, the Onceler is old and deteriorating, not shipped with anyone, to show that any relationship with capitalism will not end well. He had the money, he had it all, he was a big flashy billionaire but he still ended up alone because his greed went too far. Like a snake eating its own tail, capitalism eventually self-destructs and leaves nothing but memories and scars behind, like the field of dead trees surrounding the old Onceler. Modern capitalism is a breeding ground for exploitation and greed, and often is irreversible. Look at the declining fish populations, the lack of Old and Mature Growth forests, the exploitation of workers in underdeveloped or developing countries, all of it was caused by greed overtaking the concern for natural order - under the ironic guise of Darwin's theory of natural selection (the stronger wins). Just like the Onceler was in his song, the modern understanding of natural selection in relation to capitalism is sorely mistaken, which may indicate that the two do not actually go together.

Ultimately, the Onceler's drive for money and power, at the expense of natural order demonstrates the effects of corporate greed, and his interesting relationship with himself due to the fandom's need to ship actually serves as an amazing metaphor for capitalism.

maybe the reason theres no trees in arcane is because the onceler never met the kid in the lorax so the tree never got planted and the seed found its way underground and became the tree in ekko's sanctuary thing but it was too late for the lorax because he didnt know about it so he was forced to quit his job because there were no more trees to speak for so he become a member of the piltover council changing his name to heimerdinger and not instead of speaking for the trees he speaks for the people

I find it funny, because in my opinion, she looks more like him than his own mother in the film.

It's not a theory of connection between universes, it's just a curious thing I found.

i didn't even totally hate hazbin hotel and while watching it i still felt out of the loop most of the time. the show just gets so distracted with itself at such high speeds that by the time you get to episode 8 and there's like a full-on war you feel like you missed a lot of the parts where characters grew to care about each other. It's a 12 episode arc of a 24 episode series condensed down to 8 episodes, with a bunch of extra extraneous bullshit thrown on top of it like a bunch of jingling keys to keep fan theories about that red onceler guy spinning

My Roman Empire is Normaler. I'm serious. I think about them all day long, anytime, anywhere. Like will they ever be canon? Will Illumination ever confirm this? Is it true that there is a deleted scene with young Norma and Onceler? Did the creators plan to make them a couple but gave up on the idea? Did the creators deliberately create so many elements to confirm this theory so that we could guess it ourselves? Why does Norma know so much about Onceler? The creators did it on purpose or just made her an all-knowing character? Why do other characters (not all) look different and Ted looks like a young Onceler? Did the creators do this again on purpose or by accident? Bernice/Helen doesn't have a father specifically in the film or is it because the creators suggest something to us? What would happen if they ever confirmed this ship? So many questions, few answers. Illumination, give us a sign. We just want Normaler, come on.
