Spamton NEO for my Royal Caretaker AU :)

Spamton DOES have some background in science or robotics, but like I said, he’s not super qualified for the job of Royal Scientist. So instead of helping Gaster with the Core, the little narcissist works on building a giant robot of himself. He’s doing so to finally be tall and feel like he has power. However, the project got abandoned once Gaster fell into the Core and Spamton needed to figure out how to solve that issue. Once Spamton himself jumped into the Core, the NEO body was tossed, ending up in Waterfall.

When Spamton came out from the Core, a chunk of time had passed, but it felt very short for him due to being inside of the Core. He found Tenna, already powered off, and also found his NEO body. He starts to try and sell junk to fix both Tenna and NEO, since he *does* have that background in robotics, but nobody wants to buy his garbage. He wants to fix NEO to at least use that body and its strength to pick up Tenna and take him out of Waterfall so he stops getting water damaged. However, he doesn’t get to this point on his own.

In any route where Tenna gets repaired, it is done so by Alphys after Frisk informs the doctor about the TV’s state. However, in either pacifist route specifically, Spamton will help by using the damaged NEO body. Unlike a ghost being able to possess a robot, like Mettaton, Spamton isn’t incorporeal. Yet, the Core altered him, making him able to rip his own soul out of his body (Kris Style) and shove it into the giant robot. His own body sort of just rag dolls, but it’s fine and is there for Spamton to return to it (because yeah I didn’t wanna deal with that can of worms of his body turning to dust lmao ALSO he’s just built different now due to what the Core did to him soooooo)

Spamton NEO will pick up Tenna and slowly take him from Waterfall out to the lab in Hotland, but he collapses once he reaches the lab, as the NEO body is not in great condition either. While Tenna is being repaired, Spamton has to make his way back to Waterfall with limited energy and return his soul to his own body, after which the NEO body becomes unusable.

In a genocide route, after Tenna’s death, Spamton will panic and use the NEO body to fight the human, but is able to be defeated due to the withered state of the robot.

Anyway yeah I just wanted to make big robot design :3 oh and the NEO body was defo on the vision board for making Mettaton haha that’s why there’s similarities

Can't use the dreamscape to escape it either because he keeps trying to save him and either he does and it's an incredibly cruel trick to wake up to, or he doesn't and he gets his heart broken in several different pieces again.

There is no convincing this man that Shen Qingqiu is dead. Absolutely nothing at all. He is buried so deep in denial that moles would be jealous of how deep he is. He keeps making tea for two in the bamboo house only to remember that it's just him. SQQ's fans are hiding everywhere, little reminders of his presence. He goes to wake up SQQ on the mornings he sleeps in-- only to find the room empty.

Panel three shows SY with a horrified expression his shaky hands raised up as if going to cover his mouth, his whole body is shaking and his demonic butterfly flutters anxiously. SY mutters "no no no....no that can't be... He can't be-" It then shows SY launching himself at SQQ to hug him tightly for comfort as he sobs, his demonic butterfly trying to comfort him by resting on his head. SQQ looks down at him guiltily, as he wraps his arms around him and the other hand reaching up to find it's way onto SY's head. End ID]

OKAY LISTEN i am in fact a secret scumplane enjoyer, although idk if ill ever write a fic abt them bc idk what the plot would be. but i really like their dynamic, its so juicy to see SQH confronting and perhaps learning to love the manifestation of his self-hating id and the cruelest decisions he made as an author in this world, while SJ learns to appreciate someone who is ostensibly everything that irritates him in a person (sniveling, weak, traitorous) while also being many things he respects under the surface (intelligent, manipulative, a consummate survivor) AND SJ doesn't even know that they share those things because he is the dark mirror of SQH's cringe self insert OC!!

theyre really different, and have a lot of reasons to hate each other, while at the same time fundamentally similar in their world views. idk if they would make each other """better""" but i do think it would be interesting for SQH to have to grow to see SJ as a real person rather than a character on a page, and for SJ to learn to care about SQH despite the flaws that they share and, maybe, through that, forgive some parts of himself

tbh while i have read some scumplane fic that i love, i dont think ive ever read one that explores everything their relationship could mean thematically, which makes me really want one to exist hjlhhhgkjh. a lot of fics w them tend to be SQH solving SJ's various problems, which is not my favorite? mostly because i dont actually see SQH as someone who is particularly moved by pity without some outside motivation, and i am much more interested in them having a weird toxic cat-and-mouse thing with SQH's demonic ties (since SJ is canonically the only one we know suspected him?? which is so juicy as well??). id also be interested in seeing how they navigate violence and physical boundaries between them, considering SJ's trauma from his time as a slave and SQH's presumed trauma from his years as MBJ's servant... so many good options!!

Details in Stan's letter that still haunt me

(how long will I continue thinking about a two page letter that's technically not even that long because Stan's handwriting is fricking large? .....you don't need to worry about that.)

The bro code only shows up in the Lost Journal pages, and to me Stan's message feels like it purposely echoes Ford's "miss you" in the college photo (and for some reason the message doesn't appear in the website version of the photo?) ....or alternatively Stan simply noticed how distressed Ford was about this entire thing and wanted to support him in a way so he can be sappy but without the kids knowing, or both!

Stan's claim about the Oregon lottery contradicts what the Lost Legends website said about Tate McGucket's ability to predict the winning numbers!! ...but also breaking into the Lottery HQ is definitely a very Stan thing to do and it's not the first time small gags have been retconned

Despite spending most of his letter nonchalantly destroying him, the taunt about ripping a dollar bill in half is the only part where Stan is directly responding to Bill. Maybe it's the two of them having similar ways of thinking but it's rather specific considering Bill taunts the reader about it...

And after Bill spends an entire book calling Ford Sixer despite normally using a pretty wide range of nicknames for him, Stan then spends his letter mainly referring to Ford as Sixer, even though post-Weirdmageddon he tends to use a mix of nicknames. And it's not like he'd gotten to see Bill himself for long, let alone see him steal that childhood nickname (that is only used twice in the actual show btw!). Did Ford tell him what happened or...?

With all this and the website's "still on your mind" message, what I'm getting at is my tinfoil hat theory of Stan somehow seeing some of the pages the irl readers saw, even when it should be personalised to the specific reader, and he's been lying about it for some reason. Considering that the book flat out doesn't make an attempt at convincing Soos, I find it a stretch that whatever Bill was telling Stan via the book was an attempt to convince him either.

Wouldn't be the first time Stan's skimmed through a book and lied about what it meant to him.

(...Now I kinda wanna see a story about the family reading their versions of the book and making fun of it while Stan is improvising every single one of his pages and blatantly ignoring Bill's attempts to mock and taunt him)

But also I'm fascinated by the letters that only showed up on the website (aka the Soos+Wendy+McGucket+Pacifica ones). I'm assuming that Mabel had stuck them on after Stan's letter... but they were basically eaten by the book itself because seeing Stan's letter kick-started Bill's breakdown which takes up the rest of the book

So I know we loveeee the angst—and high likelihood—that clan lavellan is wiped out via fumbling war table missions but there is some deep angst in clan lavellan surviving and the inquisitor just… not being able to go back.

Lavellan is missing the iconic vallaslin. The thing that identifies her as Dalish. A sacred part of her identity and culture. How will she explain it to her mentors, her family, and friends? That her lover, Fen’Harel, took it from her?

Best case scenario they look at her with pity—she was tricked by the Dread Wolf into loving him and she lost her mark and her arm for it. The fact that she still loves him and believes his claims about their gods only solidifies their fears of him.

Worst case scenario? They cast her out. By allowing him to remove her vallaslin, she is marked by the Dread Wolf. And they don’t want any part of the bad luck that carries.

We see in veilguard that many of the dalish have come to accept that their gods were not as benevolent as it was thought. But that’s ten years later. Surely that took a great deal of time and effort on the part of the inquisitor. Perhaps clan lavellan came around and were able to study the mountain ruins we find in trespasser with other Dalish. Hopefully they thank Lavellan for bringing back lost history. But maybe they never do accept it. After all it is is centuries of culture turned on its head. Regardless, Lavellan is changed and for better or worse it’s because she love(s/d) the Dread Wolf.
