Keeping Time
Verso and Sciel step away from the expedition for their second private moment together. contains: oral sex, orgasm edging, soft top sciel, friends with benefits and feelings, yearning
or read on ao3
It wasn’t difficult to find a secluded spot away from the others. The camp was close enough to a small cave system that they could just as easily disappear into as get lost in. Verso went on ahead to make sure no nevrons hid in the recesses, as well as disguise their motives from the rest of the expedition—even if they already knew.
The first time they had done this, they started quite carefully, taking things slow. Unfortunately, they only went one round, as Verso’s inactivity in that department caught up to him. However, he did everything he could to make it up to Sciel, and she seemed pretty pleased with his performance.
Earlier, Verso had slipped away and found another mouth to the caverns. Soft grass would be a welcome alternative to a slimy cave floor, he thought, and perhaps Sciel would prefer to look at the stars.
Adventurous as she was.
Verso knew he would likely have to wait for a bit and plopped down at the entrance to the cave. He closed his eyes and sighed, thinking about where they had been, and what they had left to do. They were close, closer than they realized; close to the Paintress, close to—
“Verso?”
His eyes snapped open and a smile crept onto his face when he saw her.
”Over here,” he called, pushing back onto his feet
“Ah, there you are.” Sciel mosied over to him, the charming bounce in her step ever present.
”Hope you didn’t have trouble finding me,” Verso said, half-facetious. She gave a look around at his selected location and gave an approving nod.
”You were right. This is better.”
Verso let out a low laugh and watched her inspect their rendezvous point. There was so much light in her eyes, like her mind was always moving. Without thinking, he reached up and brushed a tress of her hair from her face. She looked over at him and smiled.
”What?” She said suddenly, and Verso blinked.
”What, what?”
”You’re staring,” Sciel teased.
”Just
Enjoying the view,” he said with a shrug. She rolled her eyes. Verso lifted his arms to wrap around her but she slipped from his grasp.
”It is quite pretty,” she said, looking up at the stars.
“Thank you,” replied Verso, swallowing the pang in his chest that came from her absence against him. “It’s nice to be appreciated.”
”Don’t let it go to your head,” she laughed. “It’s already too full.”
”Hey, there’s always room for compliments up there.”
”Oh, I’m sure,” Sciel rounded on him, hands clasped behind her back, an expectant look on her face.
”What?”
”Well?”
Verso faltered, looking around like he had missed something. “Well, what?”
Again, Sciel rolled her eyes, more exaggerated than before. She gave him a look before reaching out and hooking a finger in Verso’s shirt.
She tugged him to her and he obliged. Her lips were hot against his, and her touch pulled cobwebs of loneliness off of his ache for connection. The feeling surged in his chest as he grabbed her waist; the touch of skin on skin almost too much.
But his thumb brushed against the scar on Sciel’s stomach and she flinched in his hands.
”Sorry—“ Verso said quickly, pulling his hand away. Sciel shook her head and pressed into him.
”It’s okay,” she breathed, and deepened the kiss.
Merde, Verso thought. That was one of her no’s they had discussed. She didn’t want to talk about it, and she didn’t want it touched. No reverent kisses there, please, she had said. It wasn’t about him.
But before Verso could really feel bad about it, Sciel swept the moment away. She grabbed his collar and pushed his coat from his shoulders. He responded in kind, clumsily working the buckles on her top.
Fuck. Sciel kissed like she was running out of time.
Well, he thought bitterly. She is.
Sciel bit down playfully on Verso’s lower lip and a shudder ran through him. Heat spread through his body and a low moan escaped his throat.
He was the one to break the kiss, trailing his mouth over her jaw and nipping at her ear before turning his attention to her neck. She hooked an arm around him and sucked in a breath as his teeth scraped gently against her skin. He followed the bite with a sweep of his tongue before kissing the same spot.
”Hungry?” Sciel teased.
”Mm,” Verso hummed and ran his hands up her back.
Sciel pulled away, catching her lower lip with her teeth and his gaze with her own. “Then get going,” she said.
Verso grinned and slowly sank to his knees. He watched her face as he untied the sash at her waist. She ran her thumb over his bottom lip and smiled as he undid her boots and helped her step out of them. Next were the buttons on her trousers; Sciel raked her fingers through his hair as he worked them.
Again, that stab of loneliness knocked on his chest. The intimacy of the moment hurt. It had been too long.
”Here,” Verso grabbed his coat and laid it over a log that had fallen nearby. As he guided her to sit on it, he could see her fight a smile. Sometimes, he could be pretty charming.
Sciel leaned back against a large stone and sucked in a breath.
”Cold!” She yelped, recoiling.
”Nothing I can do about that,” Verso chided, but he took the moment to drink her in.
He ran his calloused hands up her legs. She was so soft—not her body, exactly. Her musculature had not atrophied from whatever she did before she taught, and Verso supposed swinging a double bladed scythe around was no easy work either. No, it was her skin that was soft. So few things out here were—most things hurt.
”Alright, alright,” Sciel chuckled. “Enough of those puppy dog eyes.”
Verso scoffed and looked down at his hands as he ran them up her calves. “You’re not so bad to look at, you know.”
”I know,” she shrugged. Verso laughed. “Now, get to it.”
Verso licked his lips as he pulled her legs apart. He took another moment to really take her in; under the starlight, even her scars couldn’t mar her flesh. She looked perfect.
“You’re beautiful,” he said, voice low, and kissed the inside of her thigh. Sciel squirmed slightly, breaking eye contact.
”Verso
” She looked like she wanted to say something, but Verso was pretty confident he didn’t want to hear it. Before she could continue, his mouth was on her.
Sciel choked out a gasp as Verso ran his tongue up one side of her, then the other, before plying her slit with the flat of his tongue. One of her hands found his hair again, holding on tight as the other braced against the log. Each flick of his tongue caused her to writhe against him, and Verso couldn’t keep his eyes off her. She tasted sweet, and a little salty, like any really good dessert.
He loved doing this, and he hadn’t gotten to their first time. There was too much learning to do and too many boundaries to set. He mostly used his hands last time, but as he closed his mouth over her clit and sucked on it, Verso couldn’t think of anything he wanted to do more.
”Verso—“ Sciel whimpered. Much different than the way she said it only a moment ago. The sound of his name like that shot lightning through him and he strained against his trousers. “M-more.”
He grinned against her, and kept his gaze trained on her face. Her mouth hung open ever so slightly, her eyes lidded heavy with arousal. A light rouge had begun to spread across her cheeks and nose, visible even in the darkness.
”Whatever you want,” Verso cooed. With one motion, he pulled her forward and hooked her legs over his shoulders. Sciel let out a startled yelp and grabbed onto him to keep upright. Before she could chastise him for manhandling her though, he slid two fingers into her slicked core and it seemed his indiscretion was forgiven. Instead, she tightened around him, and in response, he clamped his lips and tongue over her clit.
This was his favorite part.
”Hah—“ Sciel panted, each breath coming quicker than the one before. “Merde.” She rocked her hips, granting Verso better access to her as she fell back against the stone, apparently no longer bothered by how cold it was. She let her head roll back, both hands grabbing onto his hair and holding on tight. The way she ground her hips against his mouth and the pull on his scalp just spurred him on.
He wished he could still see her face, flushed and prickled with sweat, mouth agape as she gasped and whimpered. It wasn’t that he didn’t enjoy the current view—the curve of her stomach up to her breasts—but he wanted to see her eyes. Did she let them roll back or shut them tight? Did her brows tilt upwards or furrow down?
He adored her eyes.
”V-Verso!”
Sciel’s body went taut and her legs tried to close on his head. He grabbed one thigh with his free hand, pulling it away to keep going. He beckoned against her, feeling the waves clench through her body, and did not let up as she tipped over the edge.
Verso’s own body lurched at the sensation, want pooling in his stomach and pulling against his groin. Some greedy part of him wanted to stroke himself, to be there with her, but he told himself he was content to wait his turn, that the desire he felt would be rewarded.
Sciel went slack and eased back against the rock. Her legs relaxed on his shoulders and she carded her fingers through his hair.
”Well done,” she said, out of breath. Verso kissed the inside of her thigh.
”Any time.”
Sciel sighed and untangled Verso from her legs. She scooted over slightly and patted the log beside her. “I’m afraid there might be a wet spot on your coat.”
”I can rinse it in the river,” Verso replied, mopping his mouth against his shirt sleeve as he sat down next to her. “If it bothers you.”
”I thought it might bother you.”
”It’s nice to have proof of my good work,” he boasted.
Sciel let out a snort. “And there it goes, straight to your head.”
Verso bumped his shoulder into Sciel’s playfully. She rocked back into him before leaning back on her hands and turning her face to the stars. She let her eyes fall closed and seemed to bask in the starlight. Even in the low light, her copper skin seemed to glow with warmth. There was something about her that was so intoxicating, like he could stare at her forever and still find something new to look at.
Just fun, she had said, and something in Verso’s heart ached.
After a minute, he reached up and tilted Sciel’s face towards him. She opened her eyes and met his gaze for a moment before he closed the distance between them and pressed his lips to hers. He kissed her slowly, languid indulgence coloring the moment as their lips parted. There was no rush. He could still taste her, and the idea of Sciel tasting herself on his tongue pulled at him again.
”Hmm, go on then,” Sciel spoke into his mouth. Her hand snaked over his chest, down his stomach, and settled on him over his trousers. “Pants off.
Excitement pricked up Verso’s spine. He kissed her once more before standing up and helping her to her feet. While Sciel laid the coat out on the grass, he kicked off his boots. Next, she helped him pull his shirt over his head, then did as he had done, and sank to the ground to undo his trousers.
”Somebody’s excited,” Sciel teased as he stepped out of his pants.
”You say that like it’s a bad thing,” Verso quipped and leaned down to kiss her. She pulled away playfully.
”Lie down.”
Verso’s eyebrows rose. Admittedly, he liked being ordered around a bit, especially by a beautiful woman. He did as he was told, though the coat was too short to protect his entire body from the grass. As he settled, he could feel the spot wet with Sciel’s slick beneath his back made cold by the night air.
”Any other instructions?” He asked, lacing his fingers behind his head.
Sciel tilted her head to the side and thought for a moment before dipping her hand to her core between her legs. “Just let me worry about the rhythm.”
Any thoughts Verso might have had about this direction ground to a halt as Sciel wrapped her now wet fingers around his shaft. She pumped up and down, slowly but firmly. Immediately, he wanted to buck into her hand and had to fight the urge to do so. She had made herself clear.
”Merde,” he groaned, reaching for her. Sciel caught his hand in hers and laced their fingers together. She kept a steady pace still. Fuck, he wanted to taste her again—her core or her mouth, it didn’t matter. He wanted to feel her chest against his, skin against skin, to be completely engulfed by her.
”Very good,” Sciel purred, rising onto her knees. The praise rippled through him and Verso pried his eyes open to look at her. She was smiling at him, eyes glittering. He wanted her more than anything.
Before he could express the thought, Sciel threw her leg over him and lined him up with her entrance. Verso moaned as she descended, all the air forced from his lungs at the sensation. Just the sight of her on top of him was enough to send him over, but he would not give up so easily (especially after last time). She released his hand, banking backwards and bracing on his legs as she wound her hips against him. He drank in the sight of her; the fluid bounce of her breasts as she rocked up and down. It was a lovely view, but he was much more of a hands-on kind of guy.
”Sciel,” he gasped. “You’re too far away.”
She chuckled and sat up straight before sinking low onto him. “Now?”
”Oooh,” Verso shook his head, half in reply and half to clear his mind of the stars that began to bloom behind his eyes. “Still too far.”
Sciel rolled her hips forward and Verso rutted up without thinking. In a flash, she was up on her knees again and he slipped out of her. The sound he made was pathetic, halfway between a whimper and an actual objection.
”I said,” Sciel came closer and grabbed Verso’s wrists, pinning them above his head. “Let me handle the rhythm.”
”Right,” Verso agreed, tilting his head up, desperate to reach her lips. She dangled just out of reach, letting him squirm for a moment longer before releasing his wrists and guiding him back inside her.
But she still wasn’t close enough.
Sciel pitched back and forth as Verso’s hands slithered over her hips, up her sides, and settled on her breasts. He took the tips between his fingers, gently tweaking her nipples, just enough to cause a reaction. For a moment, her cadence broke, and she tightened around him.
”You’re trying to throw me off,” Sciel scolded, placing her hands over his.
”You’re too far,” he said again.
”Are you just going to complain the whole time?”
”We could always talk about something dark and personal
”
Sciel leaned forward then. She pushed Verso’s hands down to her thighs and nipped at his lower lip before kissing him greedily. But any time he tried to push up against her, she retreated just far enough away that he couldn’t reach her.
If it wasn’t so enticing, Verso thought, it would have been infuriating.
“You’re a tease,” he grumbled, attempting to hook a hand onto her neck to keep her in place. Sciel ducked him, grinning.
”That’s surprising to you?”
Verso growled a low “Hmm," and dropped back against the ground. Sciel chuckled and moved down again. She kissed his collarbone, then his throat, all while moving back and forth in a wave. She braced a hand beside his head and began to speed up. Each stroke of her hips brought a heavier breath and he struggled to keep his gaze on her.
”Sciel—“ he gasped, grabbing her ass and thrusting up. He was so close, electricity building and building inside him when—
Sciel stopped.
A horrid shudder came down on Verso as his climax slipped out of reach.
”Oh,” he hissed. “You’re mean.”
Sciel dipped her head again, brushing her nose against his before pressing a kiss to his lips.
”What did I say about rhythm?”
Verso stared at her for a moments, panting. Her tone had been chastising but she was smiling, a wicked little grin that told him she knew exactly what she was doing to him. With a sigh, he squeezed his eyes shut once again.
”Okay,” he said at length, letting her go and raising his hands in mock surrender. “All yours.”
”Thank you.”
Sciel started once again, agonizingly slow, and twirling her hips around him as she went. She hummed happily, taking his hands into hers and Verso kept his eyes shut. The anger from stopping was beginning to dissolve into desire once again. How was she so good at driving him up the wall?
Then Sciel took his forefinger into her mouth and the frustration disappeared completely. His eyes snapped open and he gasped as she curled her tongue around his finger and sucked on him. The combined sensation of her mouth and her cunt was almost overstimulating, like she might pull his soul right out of him.
Verso’s body twitched, desperate to move as she sped up again. He couldn’t do it. He had to sit still or she would stop again, and she was watching him closely. She guided his other hand onto her breast and buried him deep inside her. He bit down hard on his lip; the lightning was coming back, crackling on his skin with each stroke of Sciel’s hips.
Keep still, he thought furiously. Keep still.
Suddenly, Sciel’s breath caught in her chest and a devious triumph washed over Verso. She was close too. Her cadence faltered and she pulsed around him as she tried to continue.
”Need help?” He offered, palming her breast. She pulled his finger out of his mouth.
”Hah—n-not on your life.” She managed and leaned back.
”Too far,” he warned, grabbing her thigh.
”Shut up,” Sciel hissed, but she was smiling.
Her movements were becoming more stilted, and her body grew tight beneath his touch. She was going to come, he could feel it, but not if she lost her flow. Her thighs shook as she teetered on top of him and she tried to brace against his chest to keep him in place, but it was too late.
Verso surged upwards, hooking an arm around Sciel’s waist and lifted her up. He brought her down hard as he thrust upwards, but even as he disobeyed instructions, she didn’t fight against him. She grabbed onto his shoulders, gasping and whimpering.
”Merde!” She gulped as he sped up to her earlier tempo and then surpassed it. Her nails caught his skin and the sharpness drew a hiss out of him.
But he wasn’t about to let her lose an orgasm just to get one over on him.
”Oh, fuck, Sciel—“ Verso breathed, holding her as tight against him as he could. She grabbed either side of his face as he bucked against her, kissing him between gasps. But before long, her breaths were coming too quickly, and she pressed her forehead to his.
Sciel’s breath hitched and caught as her climax washed over her again. The tightness in her core only pushed him forward as her head fell back and she shuddered against him. Tension flickered over his muscles; he wouldn’t be far behind. He held her steady as her body relaxed and continued to thrust into her. Squeezing his eyes shut, he focused on their rhythm.
”Come on, Verso,” Sciel cooed, breathless. She was spent, but she still wound her hips again and pulled his forehead back to hers. “Come for me.”
A lightbulb exploded behind Verso’s eyes as his own orgasm came down on him hard. He choked on her name as his body pulsed and emptied inside her. He tried to find her mouth with his again. Sciel kissed him even as he couldn’t return it, and curled her fingers in his hair as he came undone.
The cricket sounds of night were all that accompanied their panting. Even the nearby river seemed to have gone quiet. Silence settled against them comfortable as they held each other so close, their breathing matched.
Eventually, Verso lifted his head, almost too woozy to look at her. Sciel smiled at him, gently brushing his hair from his forehead again. She seemed to inspect him for a moment, looking him over almost anywhere but his eyes.
He wanted to say something.
”Sciel,” he whispered, warmth burning in his chest. “I—“
”Shhh,” she interrupted, brushing his hair behind his ear. “Don’t ruin it.”
Perhaps she was right.
She usually was.
Sciel kissed him again, gently and affectionately. No longer was it hungry or greedy, she wasn’t trying to take something. She was giving.
And for a moment, with her wrapped around him, Verso thought all was right with the world.
”Come on,” Sciel said at length. She pressed one more kiss onto his lips. “We should get back.”
Verso groaned without meaning to. He didn’t want to leave. He wanted to stay tangled like this forever. But she was right, again. They needed to return to camp.
”Thank you,” he whispered. “For a good night.”
Sciel smiled at him, almost sympathetic. “It’s not over yet,” she said. “I’m pretty sure we blew past your guard shift.”
Verso cursed and fell back against the ground, grabbing his head. “Lune is gonna kill me.”
”Yeah,” Sciel patted his chest and swung herself off him. “She is.”
They climbed back into their clothes, gently ribbing each other as they went. Verso folded his coat over his arm and held out his other hand for Sciel as she finished pulling on her boots. She looked at it for a long moment before taking it in hers and lacing their fingers together.
He focused on the feeling of it, running his thumb back and forth on her skin. He wanted to memorize it.
Before they had done anything, they agreed that nothing would be different around the others. No touching, no kissing, nothing to make them uncomfortable. This was between him and her, only.
And Verso knew their days were numbered.
As they walked back to the cave, Verso lifted her hand to his lips and kissed her knuckles one last time. She watched him with a smile.
”I had fun tonight,” he said as they crossed the cavern threshold.
”Yeah,” Sciel nodded, swinging their hands between them. “Me too.”
There was so much more Verso wanted to say.
When can we do this again?
I don’t think we should keep doing this.
It’s not going to be like you expect.
I’m not what you think I am.
Instead, Verso said “I’m glad.”

i 100% believe every single adaptation of superman should be judged for accuracy based on how well they understand just how completely unhinged lois lane is as a person. because if you think THE lois lane wouldn’t do [fill in the blank], you’re wrong. she absolutely would do that and she will not be apologizing for it. superman being in love with her only succeeded in making her more comfortable and willing to do insanely dangerous things than she already was. because yes, she will 100% launch her body off a skyscraper just to prove a point. and guess what, idiot? she was right, so it was completely worth it and she will be doing it again. i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again, lois lane is absolutely bat-shit crazy. clark just happens to be really REALLY into her particular brand of crazy. like there is nothing lois won’t do with the right motivation. she is an absolute force of nature and that should scare the shit out of you.

This is my guess as to what’s going to happen in the next episodes.
I know Marshall Lee is out of character in this comic but I’d thought it’d be funny. He’d probably love Cake’s new stretchy powers.

Dick and Kory (Starfire) stood in front of Damian, 8 years old, who was called in to meet her. Damian hadn't noticed any tension between Dick and Kory to Bruce, and was more annoyed that he had to pause his Bob Ross painting tutorial for this.
Bruce was hesitant about his youngest son meeting Kory, mostly due to his bias toward her, but Dick had been with Kory long enough to know she was always sweet to children and had changed since her wilder days with the Outlaws.
Kory had confessed to being nervous about the meetup, but Dick promised her that he would be there to defend her in case Bruce or Damian insulted her.
Dick: Damian, this is my girlfriend, Koriand’r or Kory for short. Since we've been dating for a year now, she wanted to finally meet you outside of hero work.
Kory waved with a sweet smile on her face. Damian looked the woman up and down with a suspicious, raised eyebrow.
Damian: Hm, Starfire, from the planet Tamaran. I was told about you. Former princess. Fought with the Titans, then teamed up with my brother Red Hood and the Outlaws, where you went through a phase of being a—
Bruce (scolding father tone): Damian, what did I tell you about mentioning inappropriate topics when talking to strangers?
Damian pouted.
Damian: Not to do it. Hm, well, it’s a pleasure to meet you, Starfire.
Damian held out his hand, coming off like a little businessman making a formal introduction. Kory turned to Dick wondering if the young boy was seriously asking for a handshake.
Dick (nodding): He wants you to shake his hand.
Kory obliged, taking Damian’s hand and shaking it for a few seconds before pulling away.
Damian: You have a strong grip, and you’re very beautiful. You look like one of those models from the old magazines my father keeps.
Bruce spat out his drink, coughing so hard he nearly fell out of his chair. Kory could only laugh in response, especially at her boyfriend’s expression, part shock, part blushing embarrassment.
Dick: Bruce... what magazines?
Bruce (exclaiming, gruff voice): Nothing. Damian, did you go through my stuff again?
Damian: I needed some reading material, and those old magazines have good stories.
Dick (after sighing with relief): Thank the Lord, he's an innocent summer child.
Kory raised an eyebrow, but remained calm since she saw how blissfully unaware Damian was currently.
Kory: I’m not sure what magazines you’ve been reading, but I’m not really like those women, especially these days.
Damian: Father did say you used to dress and act like a
father, what was the name you called her when talking to Superman? A hustler?
Bruce (stammering): I— I
He's misremembering what I said! Damian, what did I tell you about eavesdropping?!
Damian: Not to do it. I'm innocent that time, I was going to ask you for a pen while you were on the phone. I don't get it though, how is she a hustler in her old outfits?
Bruce: Damian, drop it.
Damian pouted again, crossing his arms.
Dick: Sorry, this isn’t going well. We can come back later.
Kory: What? No, I adore your little brother so far. He’s curious and inquisitive, just like you mentioned.
Damian: That’s to be expected. I’m a treasure. You have green eyes like my mother and I, but where are the whites in your eyes?
Kory: It’s how people from my planet look. I’ve been told my eyes are similar to those in an old alien movie.
Dick: Except you’re way prettier.
Dick kissed Kory on the cheek, making her giggle.
Damian: Gross. Ms. Starfire, Dick and Father told me you’re a skilled fighter and a great warrior back on your home planet. Is that true?
Kory: It is. I’m glad Bruce remembers I’m more than just a “hustler.”
Bruce coughed, pretending to read contents on a cereal box.
Damian: Mm-hm. I will need to see you fight in action to give my full opinion on your heroing, but you're doing well so far.
Kory (sweet tone): Glad that the introductions are going well, then.
Damian (after nodding): After reading Father's journals and seeing you up close, I’m curious, why do you sometimes dress like a pin-up girl on a teenage boy’s poster? That was exactly how I worded it, right, Father?
Bruce's grip tightened around his water glass, nearly crushing it in his hand, his right eye twitching as he fought to contain his anger. Dick glared at him, arms crossed in silent disapproval.
Damian looked around, sensing the tension but unaware that he was the cause. Kory chuckled softly, seemingly entertained by the rising tension and Bruce's usual stoic attitude being thrown out the window.
Dick: Bruce, can I talk to you in private?
Bruce: Yeah, yeah. I can explain, though. I think what Damian read must’ve been novels I’m working on.
Damian (doubling down): But you labeled the front covers as journals.
Bruce: Damian, stop talking.
Dick: Kory and Damian, keep chatting. Bruce, the cave?
Bruce: I'd rather not.
Dick yanked Bruce by his shirt collar, maintaining a tight grin to contain his frustration. Kory, left with Damian, smiled gently and led him toward the couch.
They sat down so she could explain why she dresses the way she does; she was accustomed to Earthlings questioning her attire, and a little kid’s innocent curiosity wouldn’t offend her, since he didn’t know any better.
Kory (calmly explaining): Tamaraneans have a different view on modesty. What I wear now is simply comfortable for me. I know what you Earthlings see as a swimsuit, but for us, it’s like your sweatpants. I understand it can seem puzzling when you see me in my hero costume or some of my civilian attire, but it’s what I like. And the solar rays give me and my people energy. So dresses, shorts, and yes, my hero suit help me look fabulous and give me the energy I need to fight. Be glad you didn’t know me a few years ago, that’s a time I don’t look back on fondly.
Damian: Yeah, I heard you were kind of cold and acted out of your usual character for a few years.
Kory: I did. My mind was subjected to some altering brainwashing, but today, I am much more chipper and a warrior. I hope you get used to my energy. I’m a hugger.
Damian: Thank you for the warning. If I asked anything too personal, I’m sorry. I have some trouble knowing when to ask certain questions.
Kory: You’re fine. I’m used to it and also used to blurting out the wrong thing.
Damian: Hm... That’s actually comforting to know. And if you don’t mind me saying again, you are as pretty as my mother.
Kory (wincing at the mention of Talia): I’ll take that as a compliment. Would you like some candy? I carry some in my purse.
Damian (holding out his hand): Yes, please.

“So it seems we both have bad memories that have been haunting us.” "Yeah
" “Maybe—we just need some new ones, then.”
this song feels like varigo's version of new dream's "I See the Light" tbh
And so the visual aid that kept playing in my mind as I listened to it is that brief playful snowball fight they had in Chapter 19 from Varian's Tangled Trials cuz I'm like, actually obsessed with the headcanon that winter season troubles Varian cuz of the bad memories he has affiliated with it from his past but chooses to make new good ones in the present with the new people he met that's traveling with him across the seven kingdoms—like that was such a sweet and smart way to incorporate a callback to something so crucial to his character journey from the show, I loved it a lot. So this visual is like if that snowball scene was extended into a music number in my head. So yeh! Happy Valentine's Day Varigo Nation ♡
