They do exist!! They're just normal people, doing normal person jobs... for the most part?

I haven't decided if Volo would let Lydandre exist or not. on the one hand, his world is supposed to be this perfect, ideal place where everyone gets a chance to be happy

but on the other hand it would feel so good to wipe out the person who hurt gene

BUT on the other other hand, if he even wiped the slate clean and erased + replaced gene's dearest friends, how could he indulge the impulse to act selfishly there?

and on the final hand (this is a machamp), who is he to judge what Lysandre did in another life when gene's demise was his own fault in the end?

Do you have any opinions on Mrs. Everdeen as a character, and the parallels/similarities between her and Katniss? She is seriously overhated and isn't given enough credit.

Common readings state Katniss is like her father, and Prim is like her mother. While this is true for appearance and profession, Katniss shares her mother’s emotional nature.

When we first meet Katniss, much of her idea of love and marriage is shaped by the grief of her own mother over having lost Katniss’ father. Mrs. Everdeen is described to be in a “blank and unreachable” state (THG, 1). Katniss is scared of the consequences of love, that being grief, that she prefers death over returning alone to 12 (THG, 25). During the nightlock moment, she recognises that she will never go home, as she will spend “the rest of [her] life in this arena trying to think [her] way out” (THG, 25). 

Katniss’ willingness to sacrifice herself for Peeta’s life is a continued theme throughout all three books. Her wish to keep Peeta alive in the 75th Hunger Games presupposes her own sacrifice (CF, 13), and it is because she needs Peeta to live (CF, 24). She hopes that if she were to die, Peeta could live (CF, 27). When Peeta returns hijacked, Katniss has “accept[ed] deep down that he’ll never come back to [her]. Or [she’ll] never go back to him. [She’ll] stay in 2 until it falls, go to the Capitol and kill Snow, and then die for [her] trouble” (MJ, 14).

Following the 74th arena, Katniss’ aspiration to mend the relationship with her mother can be understood as Katniss having recognised that her mother had not been “equipped to deal with [what happened to her]” (CF, 3). This recognition does not come out of nowhere; if we look at her willingness to sacrifice herself for the life of another, Katniss has gained an understanding for why her mother fell into the crushing depression following Mr. Everdeen’s death (CF, 3). For the first time within the series, the parallels between them are directly brought about, as Katniss, too, has experienced a similar grief at the thought of losing, and eventually assuming she had lost, Peeta.

It is pivotal to recognise that Mrs. Everdeen’s depression due to grief, the one that left her “blank and unreachable” (THG, 1), is mirrored in Katniss when she grieves Peeta. Katniss becomes unreachable herself, refuses to speak, drink, and eat (CF, 27). It is Peeta’s hijacking that has Katniss become lethargic, with nothing to say and incapable of crying (MJ, 13).

Her previous reason to survive, taking care of her family, has been overtaken in her grief, much like Mrs. Everdeen “sat by, blank and unreachable, while her children turned to skin and bones” (THG, 1), as Katniss only learns about her sister’s fate afterward (CF, 27).

While much can and has been said about Mrs. Everdeen’s depression directly impacts her two children, Katniss’ depression in her grief for Peeta expresses itself in a similar lethargy. It is only Peeta’s return that awakens Katniss from the negligence she has applied to her own life and body, no longer withering away (MJ, 27).

While we have had three books to learn the intricacies of Katniss and Peeta’s relationship as well as Peeta’s character to trace Katniss’ grief over Peeta, we know fairly little about Mrs. Everdeen before her grief, Mr. Everdeen’s character, and their relationship. Unfortunately, this leaves fans with fairly little on Mrs. Everdeen other than Katniss’ frustration and anger. As this abandonment defines her on the first few pages, and the understanding occurs much farther in and is less plainly stated, it is easy to be blinded to the parallels between mother and daughter.

Okay ty because I’m shocked some seem to be taking Melissa’s ‘I’ve moved on’ spiel at face value when her actions and everything we’ve seen from her prove otherwise. First she stalked and married the woman whose mother she (likely) cannibalized. Second she knows what Shauna is capable of and sent that tape…blood to a shark like come on. And the thing is she liked it! like Shauna’s brutality scared her as much as it drew her in. And her smile when Shauna says she might kill the dude for her? She’s as fucked up as they all are. And in the current timeline she presents herself as healed in a way Shauna can’t stand and possibly sees as smug. Not sure if Melissa has an agenda or if it’s just a case of her subconscious trauma once again needing to play with fire/Shauna and it blowing up in her face. Again 😭

YES! melissa and shauna are very much mirror each other and feed into each other's indulgence. melissa pushes shauna to take power because she's also attracted to that power ("do you feel that, it's fucking power" after the coach ben vote, which was also just nat and shauna powerstruggle where shauna comes out ontop). the moth in the episode was a very big indication of this too. dream jackie tells shauna something about how moths are drawn to the light and they shouldve known better, which is jackie calling shauna out on her self-destructive behaviour. the second time we see the moth is when shauna is with melissa, who is also self-destructive (sending the tape to shauna when she could've disposed it any other way). like the speeches they give eachother is just both of them projecting on each other. shauna tells melissa that her boring, normal life is a lie because melissa says shauna only came because she wanted to blow her life up. they're both right and they're both talking about each other. shauna marries her best friends boyfriend out of guilt and shame, melissa marries the daughter of the woman she killed (and probably canibalized) out of guilt and shame. shauna does want to see her life explode (as we've seen with adam) but so does melissa (cuz she rlly didn't have to send that tape)

I had sooo much fun choosing what I would headcanon/fancast his features as (peep the dimples, i like those heheh,, i just know in-universe there would be at least one fan account dedicated to them lol). My style these days is a lot more grounded in realism so it was hard finding references without an exact face to use-- kind of like a collage. I like how it turned out! I hope this fed my MHA followers & mutuals for a bit, I hath not forgotten you~~!! I really enjoyed season 7, I already know the major beats of what happens next in the manga but I haven't actually read it so I'm waiting with bated breath!!

Is it too soon to talk about the Tommy and Taylor Kelly parallel(s) we got in this episode??

Because @b-dwolf and I were just talking about the fact that the Buck Tommy kiss is literally paralleling the Buck taylor bathroom hook up in season 2 - down to the song choice and the way Madney are sitting - just without the bathroom! we even got a secondary parallel with Taylor dumping Buck to go to work with Tommy dropping out of the party to go to work.

You know, after seeing all the transformers posts here, it's making me imagine a scenario with Edge and whoever the most prideful or edgy transformers is( sorry i barely know a thing about Transformers) having a dick measuring contest. Starscream's persistent failure to install himself as the leader of the Decepticons would be something Edge could lord over him until one of them realises that actually they're probably about equivalent rank (Captain of the Royal Guard, Second in Command of the Decepticons) and then it's a stalemate again. Especially if you go with an interpretation of Edge that, like canon Papyrus, has not captured a human yet.

but also I feel like Starscream being essentially A Killer Robot would give him Cool Points in Edge's books... even though hes not a sexy rectangl- actually nvm Transformers G1 designs are pretty rectangular. I've made a joke about that before somewhere (if Mettaton was a Transformer his box form would just be a G1 styled design)

The terrible (and fun) alternative is that theyd somehow, somehow get along and end up making life miserable for everyone else. Begrudgingly get along. villainous plotting buddies.
