thoughts on jason grace?

omg hey :) sorry this took so long but i love ur blog sm!

i have so many thoughts you have no idea !! im going to have to limit myself or else this will be a giant jason post haha

so these are just my thoughts on how jason’s written and stuff like that, a few headcanons thrown in there (if you want headcanons pls pls pls request them i would love to do some !!)

he is literally my favorite character that rick riordan has made haha

like i read the first few pages of the lost hero and i went “yup this one, this one is my favorite, i choose you”

i’d like to think that at one point jason had an annabeth equivalent at camp jupiter but she died on a quest or something so she wasn’t there when he came back to camp jupiter

like percy had that whole like YES ANNABETH MY WIFE I KNOW WHO I AM NOW moment, like she was his tether to his memories

but jason just had reyna when he came back, and we don’t even know what the extent of their relationship was, like they were praetors together and she seemed very upset when he didn’t recognize her so it’s safe to assume that they were close but how close rick tell us how close they were !!!!

anyways

since jason doesn’t get a lot of his memories back and he’s so emotionally distant from them, it makes me think that to him, reyna really was just a close friend

so yeah i think there was someone really important in jason’s life who died and if they didn’t, and jason saw them when he got back to camp jupiter he would have had like an “aha!” moment and connected himself to his past memories like percy did

ON A HAPPIER NOTE

i 100000% think that piper and leo do like a pop culture marathon with jason when they make a joke about some celebrity and he’s like “literally who is that??”

like they sit him down and make him watch vine compilation videos and like best celebrity moment 2019

like in my head jason has a vague understanding of pop culture but like from w few years ago because everything gets to new rome a few years/months late

maybe the legion style training is just so engrained into his brain he’s like, incapable of letting loose like that??

i also think that jason would not have sacrificed himself for piper if he regained that emotional connection to his memories

like he barely knew who he was still

like i’m not saying he would have just let piper die, but i think it would have been more of a “hey let’s figure this out so neither of us die” kinda thing

but he literally had no emotional connection to who he was for the first fifteen and a half years of his life so he was like “okay i love my friend of course im going to give my life for hers”

The answer your question 'bout Leo Valdez (or someone else) being Hestia's (or Vesta's) demigod child: Athena has demigod kids without having sex, you're correct 'bout that. It to me by default opens the possibility for any deity to have a demigod child with no romance nor sex involved. In canon, Percy briefly asks how Athena can have kids at all when She's sworn an oath of virginity and Annabeth explains that She intentionally creates demigods through using a mortal human's thoughts and Athena's own divinity then has the newly made demigod delivered to the mortal human (possibly by whichever Wind fits best for the location, or always by Zephyr the West Wind). For my Alternate Multiverse rewrite timeline, my only options were to either make all demigod children of Athena have been officially adopted by her and be the demigod kids of some other deity in terms of birth or make any God able to have demigod children without having sex. I chose the latter since it's more interesting to me personally and I prefer Kayla Knowles' bio dad Darren being a dyadic cis man rather than a dyadic trans man or intersex. Of course, others can write their own fanfics in completely different ways than mine.

when percy gets to new rome reyna is at her limit.

jason is gone, she is now pushing herself to her limit again because theres no one to stop her, she is dealing with the legion about to fall into outright rebellion, octavian is being octavian and all in all she just wants her token blonde who is good at politics back. so when a mysterious osn of neptune comes in with "amnesia" she is not having it.

yes !! and the entire time reyna is trying to convince the senate that jason is coming back, that something happened to him so they can't replace his position as praetor

like she's trying to handle octavian while also trying to convince the senate to keep searching for jason because he would never leave her too

jason used to handle octavian for her and smooth over things with the senate so without him she's just stressed and is spread way too thin

but then percy gets there and he's made praetor and she just loses her shit like "you will never be him" and percy is just stanidng there like "huh ??" 🧍‍♂️

au reyna would rather keep burning the candle at both ends than accept help from someone she doesn't know/trust, she doesn't want another praetor, she literally just wants jason back
