Proposing a Cyborg pride flag
Tumblr media
Looking for feedback from fellow Cyborgs about this flag concept! Cyborg is a political disability label used by physically disabled people with some sort of machine doing a bodily function for them (prosthetic limbs, pacemakers, insulin pumps, and hearing aids all count as making someone a cyborg, and I'm sure there's more I don't know about!). Cyborg is just as much a political label as it is a disability one, not everyone who uses an aid such as those listed will identify as a Cyborg.
This flag is being created to have a symbol of pride for cyborgs, and as a way to show support for the cyborg rights movement.
Color meanings so far:
Black- Mourning cyborgs who have died due to medical discrimination and abuse. Also represents and the struggles that come with being a cyborg
Gold- Resistance and perseverance
Red- Physical disability (one of the common reasons someone may be a cyborg)
Green- Sensory disability (another common reason someone may be a cyborg)
White- Hope for the future
Blue- Community support and the cyborg rights movement
Any feedback is good feedback! Prioritizing feedback from fellow cyborgs, but anyone is free to give opinions in general, just don't be a dick if you aren't a cyborg

Mutism/Nonspeaking Awareness Flag
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I, like many others, suffer from mutism due to a physical disability. Every flag I've seen for the nonspeaking and nonverbal community is based in autism and related issues, without representation for those of us who are nonspeaking for reasons such as being a cancer survivor, schizophrenia, muscle tension dysphonia, spasmodic dysphonia, aphrasia, brain damage, etc. and related conditions. There are a large variety of conditions that I rarely see representation for, and this flag is for us.
The white stripes represents hope for a more accepting future for nonspeaking and mute people.
The purple stripes represents entirely nonspeaking people.
The blue stripes represents AAC and sign language users.
The green stripes represents people with fluctuating levels of verbality.
The yellow stripe represents community and the way we have each other's backs in this struggle.
The symbol is a vague representation of the lack of a voice. I couldn't decide which one looked better so feel free to use either.

Here's my version of a physical disability flag (yes, we are physically disabled)
It uses the red from the disability flag, as on that flag red is used to represent physical disabilities.
the darker red is for disabilities that inhabit movement, the pink is for disabilities that cause physical pain, the middle is for disabilities that are both. The white is for invisible disabilities, unknown, and undiagnosed disabilities. The purple is for disabilities that are physical and another type of disability(for example, cerebral palsy, TBIs, epilepsy, and many more)

flag id: a flag with 6 stripes, which are dark red, cool purple, periwinkle, light periwinkle, medium dark yellow-green, and dark red. end id.
banner id: a 1500x150 teal banner with the words ‘please read my dni before interacting’ in large white text in the center. end id.
a flag for those with gastrointestinal disorders and diseases of any kind! i partially wanted this flag for myself, as someone with gerd and ibs, but there's also not a lot of gi disability flags in general and i want to work towards remedying that.
purple, periwinkle, and green are common colors for gi disorder/disease awareness ribbons — periwinkle in particular is very common (used as the awareness ribbon for cancers of several gi tract areas/organs, gerd, and ibs), so i used two stripes of that color. the red stripes represent pain/discomfort, the gastrointestinal tract itself, and the stigma those with gi disorders/diseases face.

Lupus Flag
Tumblr media
[ID: a flag with 5 stripes with a purple gradient getting lighter inwards towards the center white stripe. in the center of the flag is a white circle with a dark purple butterfly. the butterfly has a ribbon for a body. one of the spots on the butterfly's wings is shaped like a heart]
I couldn't find a lupus flag so I made my own 💜 anyone with any form of lupus is welcome to use it
it's purple with a butterfly because those are the awareness colors and symbols for lupus.

cripple punk flag // not a coining post
hey, so. in disability pride month/july 2021, i made a flag for cripple punk. i got feedback from a number of cripples on the design and wanted to make a post on it since it's this blog's icon. (sources on my website--photosensitivity warning, the background is a raining gif)
Tumblr media
black field: mourning, crips of color
light blue: history, joy, invisible disabilities
gold: perseverance, culture, success
red: strength, life, determination
dark blue: accessibility, mobility aid users, community
triangle pattern: unconventional problem solving, overlapping experiences
to be crystal clear, this is not a new flag. it's over two years old, i just didn't share it on tumblr. if you are a cripple, you are free to use this! i'd love to be tagged in anything you use it for though, just to see it.
ableds can reblog if they use the tag #i’m able bodied

🎗️🌈
to celebrate finally having both clinical diagnoses as of today, i wanted to suggest a concept idea regarding a simple combo flag for POTStism (POTS + autism), which is based on two existing images:
Tumblr media
the teal/blue ribbon design on the left uses this freepik image, while the rainbow gradient nautilus symbol on the right was coined by @intervex
Tumblr media Tumblr media
please note that i do not fully propose this as an official representation of the intersection of both communities; simply because i feel like that would be wrong and believe it's not my place due to the fact that neither of these images were originally mine, however i did want something that looks nice in order to visualize my two disabilities which primarily define my identity and the way they shape my blog's theme (plus i use them both individually on my pronouns.cc page).
that being said, if anyone out there would actually like to come up with something original, then by all means i would love to see (and potentially adopt) it!
