Loss of roommate

So, today, I lost my roommate. After almost a week and a half, she decided that I wasn’t a good enough person to hang around after classes or at any moment of any day. Am I okay with this? No. Do I wish her well with her new roomie? You bet I f*cking do! 

I should probably learn not to get too close to people, because things change. Circumstances change. People change. It’s normal, but for someone who’s always been afraid of change, it’s difficult to actually cope through things like this; however, instead of turning to self harm like I normally do when it comes to things like this, I turned to writing and to my best friend who’s known me for years. He’s helped me get through the rest of the day by just talking to me and making sure that I’m okay.

Sometimes, when people leave, I think to myself, “It’s my fault,” or, “I should’ve been a better person.” That’s not the correct thinking, and I know that. It’s not my fault that she decided to go live with someone else for the rest of the school year. She’s not my responsibility. Yes, I’m still a little upset about it, but, again, things change and people change and circumstances change. Which is OKAY.

It’s okay to be upset about things, and it’s okay to want things to go back to the way they were, but it’s not okay to dwell on things. You have to move on. Let yourself feel whatever you’re feeling in that moment, but don’t live your life feeling that way. You have to do something. I, for one, am going to go visit residence life and try and find a roommate to fill the empty bed in the room.

It’s not healthy to always be by yourself, and it’s not healthy to continue to replant yourself in the past. You have to pick yourself up and continue to keep on living, keep on thriving, keep on keeping on. Because what better way is there to live?
