I joined the Starkid fandom around 2011, disappeared around 2017 and properly came back like a few months ago and as you can imagine it’s crazy different now but it’s been the best thing being apart of this wonderful community again and I’m feeling a bit nostalgic so I thought I’d list the things I remember from when I first joined. (I would have been 11/12).

• The StarkidWiki mainly being lots of fuckyeah_____ pages for the actors.

• Me making one for Meredith because I loved her in starship and couldn’t believe she didn’t have one.

• Being obsessed with Joe Moses’s ��Potion’s Master Corner’ series.

• When MTV went and visited Starkid during the making of Starship (mainly about Darren’s involvement as he was on GLEE by then).

• Everyone wearing or wanting pink sunglasses.

• The old space themed logos.

• Having fan-art from all the musicals on my IPhone 3G, like Pigfarts, Umbridge, Tootsie Noodles etc.

• Listening to all the music on YouTube like the very potter soundtracks and even compilations of everyone’s vocals.

• Boy Toy always getting stuck in my head.

• Watching Me and My Dick at like 12 because I wanted to have seen every musical.

• Joe Walker revealing Brian and Meredith were a couple and everyone freaking out.

• Watching all the Space Tour and Apocalyptour challenges.

• The excitement surrounding the announcement of AVPSY.

• Seeing Jeff Blim for the first time as Sweet Tooth and being like wow this man is amazingly talented, then seeing him as Aragon in AVPSY and being like wow this man is talented and hot.

• Watching the videos of the HMB cast do panels in their costumes at the 2012 Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (and Sean Astin as ‘Dylan Saunders’??).

• Being excited at all the Starkid cameos in Chris Allen’s short film ‘OMG’.

(I can’t remember as much from 2014-2016 and this list got long and boring 🫣).

E: a couple of my friends think this could be sidekick, i will admit it does seem like it but also they did that last year?

The only reason the Pigfarts books took off like they did was because they were written by a mediocre white woman who apparently can't let go of her Queen Bee glory days in school. She spread around that bullshit rags-to-riches story so she could pretend her books were "just that good", when in reality she was already rich enough to buy herself a monstrous marketing campaign.

Then Warner Brothers bought the movie rights & just about everyone who worked on THOSE did all the heavy-lifting for her from then on. Alfonso Cuaron gave that third movie some avant-garde flair with his use of continuous shots. John Williams wrote the score that Steve Martin did a really keen banjo cover of. That Roald Dahl villain ripoff of a potions teacher would NEVER have gotten so popular if he wasn't played by the late, great Alan Rickman, while Dame Maggie Smith is the REASON we remember the strict yet understanding teacher who would sometimes turn into a cat.

I'm not just saying all this because Joanne is a TERF. I'm saying this because she's an overrated hack who's been piggy-backing on the efforts of REAL artists & creators. She's basically been stealing credit for the work of officially-licensed fan artists. Daniel Radcliffe doesn't owe her. If anything, she owes HIM.

I'm gonna cap this off as another reminder to go watch THE OWL HOUSE and LITTLE WITCH ACADEMIA instead. Both of those shows are charming, funny, and actually feature neurodivergent-coded heroes instead of featuring ND folk as some mean-spirited punchline.

It’s been 15 years since StarKid, a theater company that started out as a small group of college students at the University of Michigan, graced our computer screens with a musical about our favorite orphan boy living under the stairs with a scar on his forehead. Many still quote the show to this day. To celebrate 15 years, here are 15 of my favorite moments.

  15. Draco’s Hilarious “Unbreakable Vow”

  When I first watched this scene, I could not stop laughing. I later found out that Lauren Lopez (Draco) improvised the last bit of it when he said Voldemort had to be his slave for an entire day and went on bantering, and Joe Walker (Voldemort) just went along with it.

  14. Voldemort Trying to Recreate His Connection to Quirrell with Bellatrix

It’s no secret that “Quirrelmort” – portrayed by the actors sharing a costume back-to-back – was one of the most iconic parts of the entire show. I found it absolutely hilarious when Voldemort tried to fill the void by going back-to-back with Bellatrix and mentioning that something was missing.

  13. “Different as Can Be”

The whole song ��Different as Can Be” was full of hilarious Quirrelmort moments I could not ignore, such as Quirrell mentioning how they are an odd couple. It was the start of many hilarious banters. Walker and Rosenthal’s dancing was very much in sync with each other, which made the song ten times better.

  Voldemort singing “To Dance Again” was what made me fall in love with the witty Joe Walker as Voldemort. His tap dancing was the icing on the cake.

  There were so many iconic lines from this running gag that I couldn’t pick just one. The fact that the Zefron poster turned out to be a Horcrux just made the joke so much better.

This song is the very reason I know about Winnipeg being in Canada. The whole song was swoon-worthy and hilarious that it was about the wrong girl.

  7. “What the hell is a Hufflepuff?”

  15 years later, and people still quote this meme at conventions, confusing anybody who has not seen the show. (The answer: Hufflepuffs are particularly good finders.)

  6. Harry and Ginny’s First Kiss

Let’s be honest: We all cheered when Harry finally kissed Ginny. One of Darren Criss’s all-time favorite songs to sing live is “Not Alone.”

I know a lot of fans won’t agree that this song is ranked so high, but it is such an underrated number. When I first watched this in 2009, it was my favorite moment of the whole show and just hyped me up for the finale.
