One of the best things about Arthurian literature is all the hermits. They're everywhere. You can't have a decent quest without meeting at least one hermit, who then proceeds to either impart vital information or heal somebody who would otherwise die. In fact one almost suspects a hermit ex machina

I already said it, but Buck is being handed the pieces of a much bigger puzzle one by one, and when he finishes it, the picture will be Eddie.
The seeds were planted back in Eddie’s first episode, and ever since, have been fruitful and multiplying.

“What A Man” playing as Buck looks at Eddie for the first time, plus him peacocking the entire episode with him just to fold the second Eddie smiles at him and tells him he “can have his back any day.”
The way Buck automatically assumed a position in the Eddie-Chris family unit and it was never questioned. The way Buck would and did and does drop absolutely everything to make sure his little family is okay.
The elf in season 2 just automatically assumed that they were together and that Christopher was THEIR son.
The way they fight and argue by feeling through or about Christopher because anything else would be an admission of feelings.
Buck fighting for his life to wade through water, debris, and bodies to find Christopher after he fell off of the firetruck, even with his own catastrophic injuries he was recovering from.
Buck literally forcing himself to take a deep breath and push through the fear of being beneath a firetruck to pull Eddie out of the line of gunfire after he’d been shot, then literally picking up and carrying Eddie into the engine and refusing to let anyone else work on him, even if he wasn’t the most qualified.
Eddie putting Buck in his will after less than 2 years in each other’s lives because there has never been and never will be someone that Eddie trusts so much he’d want them to take care of his son. Eddie has NEVER trusted anyone with his heart more than he’s trusted Buck.
Buck being the one to help, or get the correct help when Eddie was falling apart and away from the station.

Buck fighting for Eddie’s attention the entire time Tommy is in the picture for one episode, Buck pretending to like basketball pick-up, Buck reacting and accidentally hurting Eddie because HE was hurt, Buck deflecting his feelings (and BELIEVING IT) by saying he was trying to get Tommy’s attention (which even HE didn’t believe [IN CANON]).
Buck realizing he likes men is its own big piece.
Buck completely losing it when Eddie decides he’s moving back to Texas and inadvertently sabotaging his subletter interviews. Correcting their fight by applying to sublet so that neither he nor Eddie and Chris lost the house.
Whatever the fuck the moving truck scene was.
Buck missing Eddie so bad he tries to befriend Ravi and then sleeping with Tommy the second the opportunity presents itself so he can feel something other than wistful snd sad about Eddie.
Tommy accusing him of having a thing for Eddie, literally calling Eddie the competition.
Buck overreacting as if the accusation is far-fetched and then telling Maddie “everyone wants him to be pining for my straight best friend” and “I’m living in Eddie’s old house, therefore I must be in love with him”. (No one said anything to him about being in love with Eddie, he reached that conclusion all his own)
Not wanting to unpack his stuff because it means Chris and Eddie really aren’t coming home.
The puzzle is almost done — he really is getting there. And when he finishes it, he’s gonna have the wind knocked out of him when he sees Eddie’s face.

Ok… simmering……. thinking about……… firstly. when you and art have the baby. when ur in labor. patrick idk wasn’t with you guys maybe he was at some tennis thing a few towns over when he got the call. and he’s so nervous. the whole thing makes him nervous. he wont admit it but he’s sooo worried that now that you and art have a baby together he’s gonna be an outsider… and it’s slowly gonna get worse until he’s not a part of it anymore. or he’s worried he’s gonna fuck everything up:( poor sweetie:( ANYWAYS!!!! idk maybe since patrick was late they don’t let him in the delivery room with you and art. so he’s just out in the waiting room pacing back and forth for hours. worried about you. his sweet girl. worried about how things are gonna #work between you three after this. just. everything. he’s terrified kinda. and hates not being there for you it makes him feel like even more of a fuckup than he thinks he already is. when art comes out to tell patrick she’s here they hug so tight. patrick lets a few tears slip out its fine.
he’s soooo nervous to meet the baby to hold the baby. when he finally works up the courage to hold her he wants to scream and cry kinda. she’s so tiny in his big hands. and looks just like the two of you. he doesn’t know what to think. or do.
GODDDDDD </3
Patrick kind of just wants to die. He can’t even make it to the hospital on time, he misses Art’s ten fucking panicky calls after your water breaks and he’s driving you to the hospital. Patrick’s on the tennis court when you go into labor— halfway through his first set. He doesn’t even see all of the calls and texts until he hits the locker room and reads it all for himself. Panics, drives the hour and a half to the hospital, forfeits the fucking tournament too. You were supposed to go into labor in two weeks, right? That’s how due dates worked, wasn’t it?
He’s a mess in the waiting room— pacing and nauseous. He wants to smoke, but fucking can’t since you and Art told him to quit, and he wouldn’t be allowed to in a goddamn hospital anyway. He sits, watches the news, buys a coke from the vending machine, then a pack of sour skittles. Does breathing exercises for a bit when he thinks he’s having a panic attack.
And then there’s Art, in stupid fucking scrubs because the first thing he did after the baby was born and he held her was run out to see if Patrick made it. He hugs him so tight, presses his forehead to Pat’s and just beams. “She’s so beautiful, Pat,” is the first thing he says. “She wants to meet you.”
You look more beautiful than he’s ever seen when he walks into the room— all sweaty and flushed, with your hair sticking to your forehead. The baby is in your arms, wrapped in the generic hospital blanket, looking puffy and swollen the way all babies are.
“So fucking crazy,” he says as he looks down at her, beams over at you. Art eases her into his arms, shows him how to support her head. Patrick cries— you and Art don’t say anything.

Pet peeve of the day
There is a large population of people online who don’t seem to actually know what a love triangle is and it grinds my goat every time I hear them talking about it!!
THIS ↓ is not a love triangle

A love triangle is called a triangle because it has three sides to it. This situation could just as easily be flattened out into a straight line. It’s not a love triangle, it’s just a choice a character has to make between two love interests
THIS ↓ is not a love triangle

It’s a polycule/OT3/polyamorous relationship. Yes, there is a triangle shape involved, so we are getting closer to what we are looking for, but the idea of a love triangle is that there is some sort of inherent dilemma to the arrangement.
THIS ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓
THIS IS A LOVE TRIANGLE

The point of a love triangle is that there are no reciprocating emotions involved. Each person is in love with someone else who is in love with another person. It is a cycle of unrequited emotions. That’s what makes a love triangle INTERESTING!!!
I’m sorry, I just needed to get that out there. Carry on with your day

I believe this as well, that characters are plot devices.
I really think everyone needs to truly internalize this:
Fictional characters are objects.
They are not people. You cannot "objectify" them, because they have no personhood to be deprived of. They have no humanity to be erased. You cannot "disrespect" them, because they are not real.

i love when the same event changes two characters in drastically different ways. military campaign that shows one character the importance of peace and valuing life while teaching another character how intoxicating the power of taking lives and making people fear you is. a death of a mentor that sends one character to reflect about their legacy while angering the other with the feeling of being left behind. walk with me here.

My favourite Armed Detective Agency Moment was after the Guild's defeat when some outside gang decided to attack the owner of their favourite coffee shop (the motive is unimportant but they ripped the poor old man's nails out), and the ADA destroyed said gang in about 5 minutes. They all collectively chose extreme levels of violence. Not kidding on that. Yosano attacked the leader with a chainsaw.
Fukuzawa holds the entire ADA's impulse control and he doesn't have a very tight grip on it either.
the ada is such a loser compared to every other organization they go up against. they've got like eight members. they work out of a rented office above a coffee shop. half of them probably also live there. they're all broke. and yet everyone from the mafia to the government to the most powerful foreign gifteds see them as an equal opponent. and they're RIGHT.
#they are few in number and in funds#but also they lack any fucks to give and they will curb stomp your ass#the second you underestimate them they have already won#they have the power of found family#plot devices#and homoerotic rivalries with every other groups on their side#they have 'good morals' but will also Kill You#i love them#bungou stray dogs#bsd#the armed detective agency#the ada#tags shamelessly stolen from previous reblog

Steve woke up remembering absolutely nothing besides Robin and the kids and that oddly intense, handsome man whom he was pretty sure was his boyfriend.
Though everyone else (except Eddie) kept telling him otherwise, he wasn't convinced. Steve might be a bit slow on the uptake, but he knew love when he saw it. And every fiber of him had melted when he saw Eddie Munson’s face upon opening his eyes.
There was no other reason for his heart to threaten to punch through his ribcage whenever Eddie looked at him. So yeah, boyfriend.
Dustin: He's not your boyfriend, Steven!
Steve: Are you like, homophibying me?
Dustin: Wha– I'm not homophobic! Eddie! Tell him you're not his boyfriend!
Eddie: Sorry, sweetheart. I'm not your boyfriend.
Steve: Oh.
Dustin: See? I told–
Eddie: I'm actually your husband.
Dustin: Dude.
Eddie: We've been married for ten years and these are our children.
Dustin: Dude!
Steve: Who's the mother?
Eddie: You, obviously.
Steve: Yeah, that tracks.
In the end, when Steve finally regained his memory and had another bathroom heart-to-heart with Robin, he silenced Eddie's profuse apologizing with a kiss. French style.
Steve: Will you be the father of my children?
Eddie: Hell yeah, baby.

Barbie for Example
No controversial rants here. This is about the story.
This logo is copyright by Mattel Inc. Mattel has nothing whatsoever to do with this post. If they want me to take it down, they have only to ask. This post is not going to discuss feminism, or whether the director should have been nominated for an Oscar, or the virtues of the things that many people on Facebook and other social media are vehemently discussing. This post is about the story told…

14. The Time Loop:
Trap your characters in a time loop where they're forced to relive the same events repeatedly until they can break free.
15. The Shapeshifter:
Introduce a character with the ability to change their appearance, creating doubt and suspicion within the group.
16. The Truth About the Mentor:
The mentor figure, who initially seems wise and benevolent, is unveiled as the story's true antagonist.
17. The Lost Artifact:
The much sought-after artifact or treasure turns out to be a fake, and the real item is something entirely unexpected.
18. The Pseudo-Death:
Fake a character's death to shock the audience and later reveal they were alive all along.
19. The Prophecy Reversed:
Subvert the traditional hero's journey by defying a prophesized destiny and taking the story in a different direction.
20. The Unreliable Narrator:
Reveal that the narrator has been lying or misrepresenting events, casting doubt on the entire story's accuracy.
Conclusion:
These 20 plot twist ideas are just the beginning, and by incorporating them into your narratives, you can leave your audience stunned, shocked, and eager for more. Remember that the key to a successful plot twist lies in its execution, so take your time and craft a twist that seamlessly integrates into your story, making it an unforgettable experience for your readers or viewers.
