Flambe
-
Go on and worship me.
I'll let the flames
Ignite and swallow me whole.
I'll burn from the inside,
With a smile,
Watch me take control.
Try not to be surprised,
When you see how fast I change.
You think you know all about fire,
But I burn hotter in the rain.

Untitled Poem I Wrote
Sometimes, I feel like a fragment
Like I’m just a part of who I used to be
And my emotions have gone stagnant
I look at myself and ask “Is this me?”
I gaze at the mirror, questioning my eyes
This can’t be right, this can’t be real
Is this life I have just a disguise?
Why can’t this Godforsaken mask just peel?
One body, so many people
Everything I say is a lie
I can’t even be honest at the steeple
Too many feelings, so I suck them up dry
I revisit my past and tremble in fear
I don’t wanna see it, I don’t wanna know it
But when I do, everything is clear
You are the one who crushed my identity to bits

June 2nd
Soft whirring and clicking fills the dust-stuffed, late afternoon sunbeam-illuminated study that exists only within myself.
Rolodex shifting, textured paper of my thoughts soaking in the sweat-damp of my fingertips until I am dry
Sorting stiff cards back and forth, some yellow-aged and others fresh-printed
Click. Click, whirr. Shift. Sigh.
Each label stamped so clearly, so deliberately in firm, confident black ink.
What to do. Why to do it.
Hobbies, projects, dreams, hopes, futures. Steps forward
Click, click, whirr. Shift. Sigh.
If only I could fumble my shifting, indecisive moves thoroughly enough to earn a paper cut
Maybe the stinging sharpness will spark some decision, blossoming red wetness staining a card,
Tempting me to pluck it and make a decision.
Click. Click. Click. Whirr.
Time passes.
I have made no choices.
Nothing happens.
Click, click, whirr.
Shift.
Sigh.

Talent Hunt
Is it with you? Or you? Or you?! It's the same trick I have seen before! Still searching for it, my arms turn blue, I am tired and breathless to search anymore! My memory has swifted, I can't remember, Is it a curse casted upon me? I'm a wandering fool since the 3rd of December, It's the suddenness that's astounding! I have lost my talent, like a helium balloon, It floated away into yonder skies, But then, out there, I see the moon, Hiding in, a pleasant surprise. On its surface, an advert read, "Talent's for sale! Come Quick" "Yoohoo!", I jump right out my head, On my way, to find a talent to pick. I pitch with every retailer, That's selling a precious talent or two, But ne'er do I find my fit; Loud hailer, Can you give me a second to choose? A talent I find on the top shelf's corner, The merchant pulls out one to see, It's old and dusty, such regal charm! "It's a bestseller, The Talent Heriditary!" An ill fit! It's not for me! So bends down the merchant to find another- He finds a set of talents three, And I get close as my hopes recover. A talent, a friend can give to the other, A talent, that'll teach you how to compete, A talent, to work as hard as your mother, I am confused! My Lord! All talents are sweet! The merchant is tired, Oh so! bemused, By my inconsistency, so I'll have to choose! He pulls out a box, with talents infused, The condition being, I have to learn to use! With diligence and labour, I sit on the cliff, I meditate in vain for an epiphany to strike, Pondering all thoughts, my back is stiff, I open my eyes to find something I like. Its a butterfly, smothered in pink and maroon, She sits on a petal, drinking the elixir of life, I wonder how she came out her cocoon, While I sit on this cliff with an internal strife. The dusk is near, the clouds are hazy, The earth is shaking as it whispers in, I hear you say it, Oh dear winds breezy! My talent is, my feelings within.

i breathe breathe in through my nose hold it for a little while i breathe out through my mouth my head tilted back face to the sky except the sky is not in sight the sight is nothing but a ceiling a ceiling in a room filled with smoke and sounds the breath that could have been so beautiful so perfect it could have been just right but it’s nothing but a chase for the high the breathing through the nose just to get it inside the holding of the breath the breathing through the mouth my head tilted back all just to keep it inside to keep the courage, the pleasure, the bliss, the powder the powder is the point the point is the powder

Being born an angel
With wings that shimmer;
Choiceless.
You will be good,
They will cheer for you.
I took fire to my innocence,
Stood before them with scars
And rage.
"Too loud." They'd fuss,
"Opinionated. Bossy. Bitch."
My body would tremble with the reminder
Of what I was born to be.
Beautiful and quiet.
You came along, and I spoke evenly.
Directly.
And stars filled your eyes,
You reached for me with hunger.
"An angel?!" You cooed,
"You're so brave!"
But what about my wings and beauty?
What about the light?
You cheered for me in the darkness,
Without the promise of my blessing,
Awed by the conviction
I was cast out of Heaven for.
Brave.
I'd never heard that before.
The glow I was born with,
Seemed to crack within me.
Twisting and branching into something new.
We laughed together,
And though I was told they'd cheer for me-
I cheered for you.
I cheered for you.

the new version of this poem, I have previously released some of it. It's the story of when the tics came on, I thought it was the end.

Two Very Different Conversations About Love
I had two people tell me two different things about love today.
My neighbor's wife passed away recently. He told me to be wise when thinking about the people I loved. He told me to forgive everyone I can. I smiled slyly and said as much as I can.
My mother asked me if it were possible to be in love with two people at the same time. Can people be in love and remain friends? Even if they are with someone else? She asked me while I was folding laundry.
The complexity of human emotions.

I'm right where you left me
Still calling your name
It's just like the movies
I weep in the rain
I'm right where you left me
Hoping for closure
Hugging my elbows
I wish you were closer

Life’s Beauty Marks
learning to love and embrace your ACNE beauty marks. nature is gorgeous.
i love my blemishes,
a new scar everyday.
my flesh is alive
and that’s okay.
they’re only beauty marks,
graced on the space
on my back, up my shoulders
and on my face.
i love to be alive,
with skin that breathes.
the strength in my guts
puts me at ease.
they’re only natural,
you’re human just like me.
don’t let the vigor on my vessel
be all you see.

Oh, you foolish child
Who said you haven’t found love?
Who said you don’t have it already?
Just look around,
Look at those in your life.
You are so full of love,
As is what surrounds you.
For love has never left your side.
