May I send Divorce Fource/Quartet and Majorwood for the shipping bingo? Divorce Fource were a right mess (affectionate <3) and a perfect one at that, but I can't help but wonder how the recipe would have turned out if the soul ties were Cleo-Pearl, Martyn-Scott.

OK SO first off thankyou so much?? thats so sweet?????? 😭😭 i really don't think my character ramblings are anything special, but i like reading other ppls insane takes so i thought i'd provide others with the same 👍

not to get too into it but i feel like a series like life smp is best enjoyed with your own crazy delulu takes (similar to touhou if anyone heres familiar w/ that fandom). and it makes me kinda sad to see ppl arguing abt whats 'canon' or 'correct' cus that's no fun lol

this one first cus chronology. I honestly don't know if there's anything I can say here that hasn't been said before? But yeah they're. tasty. something about martyn waiting the entirety of third life to betray ren and never getting the chance and now longing to have him back. lots of regret but regret. for what. yknow. and ren always looking out for martyn even from a distance. and then martyn losing that connection in limlife.

uhh i don't really know what else to write here so have some of my insane ramblings copy+pasted from my shipping doc 👍

Martyn fancies himself a schemer, someone who's not afraid to play the game the way it's intended. If that means earning a powerful ally's trust only to shatter it then he was going to do it. Only, Martyn's bark is worse than his bite, and every night he spends in lying awake in those soft, warm sheets that Ren had laid out just for him (freshly washed too, he might add. Smelled like sunshine) he wonders if he can do it. He can, of course. (he can't. he won't. he's too soft. soft and useless.) He'd cut his head off already. (he wants to vomit) (this is why no one needs you. wants you. loves you) Who cares about other people anyway? He is the only one who really matters. (the thought of being alone makes him want to cry) Ren, on the other hand, is a capable leader. The definition of loyal and dependable, if not a bit dramatic. He struggles with self-worth, being good enough, useful enough, powerful enough. But to others, he's the opposite, caring and protective of any who would ask for his aid. After all, every citizen deserves to live in safety and comfort, and providing that is what a good King would do. ~ Martyn's not as sneaky as he thinks he is. Ren knows. Ren sees the signs. It's a death game for a reason. But he doesn't let Martyn know. He doesn't even hold it against him. He doesn't see the bloodthirst anymore, only the broken pieces lying underneath. ~ or the King's Hand, it was the thrill of feeling Useful, Powerful, Feared (loved). He was going to miss it after he betrayed him, the high of bloodlust, the smell in the air as he charged into battle. (the way his hands held him so gently) For the King himself, deep down he knew it was never to be. He had met a monster, but he hoped his efforts calmed the storm ever so slightly. On some days, he pretends to forget about the death game entirely and imagines the speech he'd give to retire his Hand. "You don't have to fight anymore," he'd say, "I'll take care of you from now on, I promise. So put the sword down, okay?" But in the end, it was all a fantasy, wasn't it?

also uhhh eroguro my beloved...... im assuming this is getting brought up cus of my mentions of loving eroguro in the past. and yes to all of that very much i agree. but i do have kind of.. a limit to what i do w/ these characters specifically because of the fandom/ccs (at least publicly). if i ever do decide to share the nastier stuff in my head or go into detail on gore and whatnot i'd probs make a sideblog and tuck it away and maybe block scott and martyn for always somehow showing up on my posts lmao

But Mabye a scene of reader x bakugou, he wakes up in hospital and sees her waiting next to him in a chair waiting for him to wake up. And when he does he’s glad to see her alive and asking so many questions ☹️ maybe even a lil romantic vibe at the end ??!??😌

(and maybe kinda ooc cus idk him like that😭🫶🏾), afo is mentioned and called a ballsack lmfao i hate him, everyone is fine and dandy and healthy(?) cus im a major optimist, lemme know if i missed sum else<3!

it's been three weeks since katsuki's been asleep.

you'd woken up a week and a few days after the war had ended. you don't remember much besides fighting for your life, that of your friends and of the people of japan. you were greeted with the worried, relieved and snotty faces of your classmates. denki and kirishima had basically tackle hugged you and were immediately strictly reprimanded by iida and momo. your limbs hurt like hell but you could ignore it and focus on squeezing your friends for now.

except not everyone was here. you immediately realised katsuki was one of them.

you were horrified to find out from your friends, who were sure this would be your reaction and were refraining from telling you, that katsuki had once again suffered major injuries and had been asleep for a good week now.

your classmates had tried to reassure you, "bakugou's always doin' the impossible, he'll probably be awake and he'll go back to cussin' up a storm before we know it." sero said, trying his best to comfort you. you send him a smile that doesn't fully reach your eyes, but you still appreciate him nonetheless.

since that day you'd gone to visit him everyday. sometimes you'd just stare at his pretty lashes fluttering, wondering when he'd wake up. other times you'd talk to him about your day. it was boring, since you were still healing and still stuck in the hospital, but it was something.

your classmates came to visit too. kirishima comes to visit the most but you assume he’s just here to check up on you and make sure you’re okay. he stays for around an hour, sneaks you some actually edible food then always leaves you with a “don’t push yourself too much, okay !”

you go to visit your other classmates, like izuku who had also taken a major beating, but was just as stubborn as your katsuki when it came to durability. you’re amazed to see how quickly he goes back to his old self, anxiously waving his arms around and telling you he’s completely okay, before promptly wincing and yelping out an “ouch !” when he moves his arm the wrong way. you jokingly warn him not to push himself too much too quickly or you’d mess him up even more than he already was every time you leave.

“i’ll try !” he chuckles, giving you a thumbs up.

you’d also met best jeanist recently, who had come to visit your boyfriend one day while you were also there. he told you that katsuki had talked about you once and that, in best jeanist’s words he seemed to be very enamored with you. you couldn’t help the way you shyly looked down at the ground, letting out a flustered chuckle and you thought you heard best jeanist laugh underneath his long, long turtleneck.

you’re currently sitting by katsuki’s bedside for the fourth monday in a row, smiling to yourself as you watch him sleep. you wonder if he’s dreaming about anything. despite the fact you looked it up and people can’t exactly dream while they’re in a coma, but you like to think he’s just asleep and having a very nice dream. the thought makes you happy, but it also makes a knot grow in your throat.

“i do hope you're having nice dreams, but i also hope you wake up soon." you whisper lovingly, brushing some hair out of his face. you run your finger along his nose bridge and cheek, usually he wouldn't be able to take soft touches like this for more than 10 seconds before getting embarrassed and pushing your hands away, trying to distract you from his beet red cheeks. you let out a watery giggle at the memory.

your throat starts feeling a little dry and as much as you don't want to leave katsuki, you figured you wouldn't miss much if you were only gone for a few minutes. you press a quick kiss to his forehead and before you get up to leave the room you look back at him once more time. only to see something strange, his eyelashes flutter more than usual, then his eyebrows furrow,

and then his eyes open.

he blinks groggily once, then twice. he tries to reach up and rub at his eye but the bandage on his arm won't allow him to and he winces. he realizes someone is in his room after a second, slowly looking up as if in slow motion. but then his movements fast forward when he realizes it's you in his room.

his eyes widen and he practically jumps up. hastily sitting up and leaning against the railing of his bed towards you

"yn—fuck !" but he seems to have underestimated how serious his injuries were in the moment. he doubles over and hisses in pain. the noise kickstarts you and immediatly you're in motion. you rush over to him, softly but urgently grabbing his shoulders you softly push him back against his pillows, he groans as you do. "don't sit up so quickly !" you fret "just lay down—"

he grabs your arm with his somewhat okay one tightly as soon as you make contact, "are you—fuck—are you okay ?" he asks breathlessly, his eyes urgently search around on your face and he frowns slightly as he scans over your light scratches. " fuck, i passed out before i could get to check up on you.." his eyebrows furrow even harder, mad at himself for not being able to watch over you.

he lifts his not so injured hand up just slightly and you lower your head so he can place it against your cheek. he rubs over it slowly "yer not hurt, are ya ? i mean—fuck, you are, but—"

"katsu.." you smile, already shushing him.

"nothing broken ?" he starts up again, prodding at every body part he can reach. you giggle lightly. "yer all bandaged up. swear i'll find the bastards who did this shit to you."

"i already dealt with them, so you don't need to worry about that." you chuckle. he copies you, his movements slow down the slightest bit and he chuckes slightly and you've missed that sound so much your heart squeezes.

“yeah, course you did..” he sighs, eyes shining brighter than usual and you suspect he’s tearing up a little when he swiftly looks away from you to wipe at his face, you don’t comment on it cus you could feel tears welling up in your eyes as well.

he tsks at the mostly okay, but still injured, arm against his face before pulling it back glaring at it, “this shit’s a real pain.” he mutters angrily, sucking his teeth.

you spring into action again, like a toy starting up when you wind it “don’t move it so much, you messed it up really badly during the fight !” you both notice how you flinch back when you instinctively go to grab his hand, then reach forward once more and barely grab his hand to guide it towards his lap, and then his body towards the pillows behind him again. katsuki’s eyebrows furrow at your ghost like touch.

he doesn’t say a word as you ramble and simply stares at you. you’d noticed he hadn’t even put up a fight when you’d pushed him back down onto his bed, but you were more worried about his well being rather than his behavior. but now you start to get a little bit worried at his lack of reaction, you place your hand on his chest softly, afraid to hurt him "wait just a sec, i'll go get a nur—"

"no." you let out a surprised sound when he grabs your hand. he stares straight into your eyes, and the bright red shine in them is such a huge contrast to them being closed for so long it almost knocks the wind out of you.

he vehemently shakes his head "i don't need none of that."

"katsuki, you need—"

"no i don't." he says stubbornly, you don't know if you're happy or not that he seems to be just as stubborn as before everything happened. it's a relief, sure, but it's starting to annoy you a bit. you want to fire back but he cuts you off "i don't need a nurse. need you." he mutters into your hand he had brung up to his lips to speak his last sentence against.

it’s only a light press of his lips against your skin but it sends chills down your spine. he does it again, red eyes fixed onto you to bring his point across. you suck in a harsh breath, then sigh in defeat.

"okay.." you sigh. "but we still have to get a nurse later." he grunts into your hand in begrudged agreement, "later." he mutters.

once he's gotten his feel of you, he slowly lifts his head up to look at you. he shuffles around in bed until he's sitting up a little straighter, waving you off when you sit up to help when he winces slightly.

he reaches for you and tugs at your arm lightly, as if he wanted you to sit closer to him. you happily oblige, scooting a little closer until you're leaning infront of him. he grumbles, obviously unhappy about something.

"come over here." he whines petutalanty.

you giggle at his childish demand "katsuki, no. you're very hurt and i don't wanna make you feel worse if i accidently push at something too hard. we can cuddle all you want when you get checked up." you explain. he’s obviously unhappy about that, rolling his eyes accompanied by a huff.

just like he usually would. you feel your eyes burn but your chest feels lighter and lighter the more you realize he’s here. your holding his hand and he’s holding it back, you’re looking at him and he at you.

it’s your katsuki.

“that’s bullshit, m’perfectly fine.” he scoffs.

you give him a once over, raising a brow for good measure “right.” you laugh when he scoffs again, but he can’t hide the smirk growing on his face at the sound.

it’s your katsuki, alright.

it’s quiet while you’re just indulging in each other’s company, the worry in your stomach gnawing at you every day he wouldn’t open his eyes these past few weeks finally washing away as you look at him lovingly when he closes his eyes and sighs against your skin.

“stop starin’.” he complains against your hand he still had in a tight grip, cheeks turning red. it seems like he doesn’t want to let go of it any time soon and doesn’t have any plans to as he bring it up to his mouth to bite you. you struggle and squeezes at his nose with a grin.

“hey, is it so bad to wanna look at my boyfriend that he’d been sleeping every day up until now ?” you make it sound like a joke, but your smile falters slightly and katsuki realizes. his eyes widen slightly.

"how..how long was i out for ?" his voice is still clouded with sleep even now. you plop back down onto your chair, dragged closer to him now “about three weeks.” you mutter, sad smile on your face and eyes downcast.

neither of you say anything for a moment and you’re quickly reminded of the quiet you’d gotten used to when he was still asleep. you don't like it and you want to fill the silence but you don't know what to say. katsuki doesn't respond and keeps looking at your expression, blinking slowly, like he does when he's trying to discern how you feel. he's annoyingly perceptive and you feel yourself get flustered by his gaze.

"now who's the one staring.." you mutter shyly, eyes drifting towards the floor to close him off of your mind with those all seeing eyes of his. you can tell he's seen through you, but it's worth a try anyway.

he reaches and tugs at your chair leg for you to scoot closer somehow. once, then twice harder when you don't make any move to listen to him. he grunts and you worry he'll hurt himself like he always end up doing when he’s not being careful, so you lean your face closer to him. you'd stare at him at all day like this if you could but your eyes won't look in his properly before they're shooting back towards the floor, katsuki huffs a breath of laughter onto your cheek.

"m'not allowed to look at my girlfriend after bein' passed the fuck out for three weeks ?" he smirks his eyes are soft even when he gruffs a mean laugh when he reaches up to pinch your nose back and you grumble at him, softly patting at his hand to shoo him away with a smile you try to hold back. he pokes at your cheek, you go to shoo and scold him but he surprises you by softly placing his hand against your cheek.

“was worried about you, you know.”

your eyes widen and your mouth drops open slightly at his sincerity. your heart warms and you can't stop the tears blurring your vision anymore. you clamp your mouth shut so as not to sob, but your bottom lip wobbles and katsuki huffs again.

"was thinkin 'bout you the whole time. hate that creepy ballsack head,” he grumbles bitterly “kept me from seein' my girl." he smiles when you let out a watery snort. you grab ahold of the hand on your face, running your thumb across the rough skin.

"i heard you really did a number on him."

"course i did. fuckin' decimated the fucker." he boasts and you laugh loudly. "made him cry like a baby. literally." he adds, you raise a brow in question but he simply shakes his again, as if telling you not to worry about it.

you don't question it and simply sigh against his hand happily, it feels nice to feel him again. "the others are gonna be happy to see you up. kiri's been coming to visit you every day. and i've forbidden izuku from getting out of bed, but he asks about you all the time."

katsuki scoffs, thumb slowling down in its movements "damn deku.. he better not think he's hot shit cus he woke up before me." you snort loudly at that, shaking your head at his childish antics.

"good he's not runnin' around. he'd probably end up breaking more of his bones by himself."

"that's what i said !" you giggle, and katsuki snorts. you missed hearing him. you missed him so much, you reach a hand up and wipe at your still wet eyes, katsuki grabs at that hand to wipe at your tears for you.

"was worried about you too, katsu." you sniffle "when i heard you got yourself hurt bad again i just—i got really scared.”

your boyfriend's eyebrows furrow sorrowfully and he wishes his body wasn't so weak so he could wrap you up in his arm and feel you close, never let you go. but his hand against your wet cheek will have to do for now.

but katsuki is a creature of habit, so he speaks "come over here." he whispers.

you lean in a small distance at first, not really sure of what he wanted you to do. katsuki grunts but when you get close enough he reaches for the back of your head and pulls you in, pressing his lips to yours.

and it's everything. soft yet his grip on you is firm, slow yet urgent when you grab the front of his hospital clothes and he huffs against you when he shoves his tongue into your mouth with a soft groan. eyebrows furrowing in focus to handle his breathing because he doesn't want to pull away.

not yet.

you're first to pull away but he doesn't let you go far, immediately swooping in for another kiss, this one just as- if not more urgent-than the first. you softly run your hands through his soft locks and try to memorize the feeling like you hadn't been touching it everyday for the past three weeks. it feels different now.

not yet.

finally, you pull away even after katsuki chases your lips with a pout. you giggle and tug at his hair and he huffs at you, and leans forward to bite at the tip of your nose.

"katsuki !" you squeal flying back to wipe at your nose.

“don’t katsuki me” he chuckles, cheeks dusted pink. from the lack of oxygen just a moment ago or from embarrassment you don’t know, “ ‘ts your own fault, dumbass.”

you scrunch your nose and stick your tongue out at him and he snickers again. you’d missed that sound. you’d missed his laugh, and his stupid nicknames and his voice, the way he says your name and his eyes and his smile.

“i missed you.” you breathe, smiling at him with what you know can only be called heart eyes. katsuki blinks at you, turning red to the tips of his ears. he looks away but reaches for your hand, you give it to him and he presses his lips to the back of your hand.

“missed you too. really did.” he mutters.

this is the most embarrassed you’ve seen him and the sincerest at the same time, you commit the image to memory as your stomach flutters and your heart beats for him. and his for you. you can feel it in the way his hand steadily gets warmer, the way he closes his eyes and breathes you. in the way he kisses each of your fingertips and finishes it off with a bite to each to make you laugh.

you both know a lot of things still need to happen but they can wait for now. for now, his heart is here, beating with yours. your katsuki is awake and back where he’s supposed to be.

Had a crazy weird dream that sorta combines old scrapped character concepts and put it in a marvel context. It was weird. But fun. I probably will use this as a future story concept cus it was interesting. Probably will be outside of a marvel context when I do develop it though. Anyhow I can’t get it out of my head so I’m gonna just. Post an organized post about it here.

I don’t remember the names (besides the dog) so I will be referring to the characters by their archetypes and powers.

We were 4 kids (it switched povs) and our parents. Gonna do a list of the characters and what they were like:

Dad

- Non super powered

- Forgot what he looked like

- Spy vibes. May have worked for shield.

- Met the mom during a mission I think??

- Friends with Marc Spector

Mom

- Dead

- Probably mutant in marvel context

- Don’t think it ever revealed her powers tho

- Don’t remember much about what she looked like besides that she was very pretty and had long fluffy/curly? Hair.

Super Speed Shark Boy

- Super speed

- Shark motif. Really liked sharks

- The youngest. Like. 12.

- Reminds me of my IRL little brother.

- Heavily autistic coded

Smart Psychic Kid

- Very Smart

- Psychic abilities

- Middle child energy

- 17 ish

- Also definitely neurodivergent

- Dark hair and square/rectangle glasses

Witch Girl

- Definitely a self insert I think

- I was in her pov for most of the dream and the similarities between us feels like a self insert at least but she was very interesting

- Very pagan. Does practical magic stuff as well not just superpower magic. Tbh entire family has pagan energy.

- Main powers come from grimoire.

- Looks like younger me. Reddish brown hair. Bangs. Ponytail. Wavy but also straight. Bangs were straight rest of hair wavy.

- Age was inconsistent. First it was like 12 then it was 16 then it was 19. I guess when I actually develop the story I’ll figure it out later.

Okay now that you know the characters onto the dream.

So we (the kids) were on the run from some bad guys? (Who it’s later revealed are connected to our moms family). Mom got killed trying to protect us.

It kinda time skipped to the funeral and this is when I was in witch girls pov. While the family was having dinner I was working on a protection spell thingy. Not related to my powers as much. It was practical magic. Like. Using a mortar and pestle for shit. One of the uncles (like. Great uncle. Not a sibling of the mother) caught me and tried to exorcise me and almost killed me (moms family very Christian. Like my real family. Woo religious trauma).

Grimm came in and mauled the uncle. And killed him. Rest of family figured out who we were. And started going after us. Grimm continued to protect witch girl. Super strength kid almost died protecting psychic kid. Super speed kid was fine. Nobody could catch him. He was taunting the villains basically.

The dad called Marc to come help us escape cus he was in the area (there was a museum nearby I think???). Battle was really long. The dad sacrificed himself so we could escape. No clue if he is still alive or not.

Marc fucking swooped in with a helicopter??? Steven insisted on basically adopting us. Picked us up. Marc couldn’t figure out what to do with us so he was like “okay fine they can come with”

Also Marc and Grimm do not like each other apparently. It was. Interesting.

Then my alarm went off and I woke up.

Anyhow yeah definitely interesting concept. Probably will develop it in the future without the marvel stuff.

Since I’m a busy music ed major I don’t have time to draw anymore. So if anyone wants to draw the characters hmu.

Anyhow yeah. That’s it. So glad I got to put it somewhere cus I can’t stop thinking about it it was so interesting.

NEW POST FOR MY 95060 PLAYLIST!!! complete with explanations of every song choice under the cut because i love explaining my own creative decisions for some reason (PLEASE DO NOT FEEL COMPELLED TO READ ALL OF IT IF YOU DONT WANT TO ITS VERY LONG LOL). i may add a few songs here and there later on, or more likely rearrange what i've already put in slightly, but for now i consider it done.

PART 1: TEMPTATION

Mystery Skulls - Paralyzed: Just another song about how Michael is awestruck by David and feels compelled to follow him for whatever reason (the reason is that he wants him so bad)

TAEMIN - WANT: This is one of three Taemin songs on here because I think if David survived until present day he would fucking LOVE Taemin. Anyways this is a song about knowing you’re hot shit and everyone wants you and I think after seducing Michael through fucking?? Fatal motorcycle races and evil noodle mind tricks??? David deserves to feel that

Glass Animals - Gooey: OHGHGHGHFH THIS SONG… the vibes are impeccable on this one, Dave Bayley’s alluring voice feels like a slight remix of what David is going for and the way it feels like the singer is trying to convince the listener of something (even though it’s purposely vague) just FEELS like David with Michael. The line “I can’t take this place, I can’t take this place/I just need to go where I can get some space” especially fits when imagining how Michael is new to Santa Carla and may want a place to belong that David and the boys are happy to provide

TAEMIN - Impressionable: I see this as the moment that Michael downs the bottle of “wine”, where this song is David’s internal monologue reveling in how easy it was to charm Michael and get him to join. I always thought this sounded like a taunting villain song so it just fits. Also it’s like ridiculously horny which is a plus

PART 2: THE RELATIONSHIP ITSELF

MGMT - Me and Michael: In my head this is directly after Michael drinks the “wine”, and if it were an actual song in the movie, it’d play instead of Cry Little Sister in that scene. I already made art related to this but I really just love the juxtaposition between something that Michael will later see as horrible (becoming a half-vampire) and David seeing it as a perfect slow-dance moment. Also “Me and Michael, it’s not a question now” because the blood drinking has now linked them together… mmmmm. Credit to this post again for making me find this song!!

ALI - DESPERADO: This one is less about David and Michael specifically and more about how the night in the cave went down for everyone there, starting with a soft slowness as they ate and then descending into chaos as Michael downs the wine and they celebrate a new addition to the pack. The bacchanal energy is off the charts

Dorian Electra - Man to Man: This song is just one that I attribute to all of the boys because I think they do a lot of homoerotic sparring. Also the part of the movie where Michael punches David in the face and David just goes >:-3 back at him

Chase Atlantic - Friends: I don't know what it is about this one but it just Hits… The chorus kinda sounds like David and the boys trying to convince Michael to stay with them instead of coming back to human society after drinking the blood, in the same sort of taunting manner that they had when David (presumably?) made Michael hallucinate the bike lights and sounds outside of his house

Taking Back Sunday - You're So Last Summer: THIS SONG IS JUST REALLY GOOD. I don't know what it is about this one either… I guess the “Maybe I should hate you for this/Never really did ever quite get that far” part could represent the first glimpse of Michael’s more conflicted feelings about David. Also the second half of verse 2 not only fucks so hard but could also be indicative of Michael’s repressed gay feelings, lying to himself about how he wanted to be around David because he’s cool or whatever but he actually just has the hots for him and would let him do anything if he asked to

MGMT - Little Dark Age: Mostly here just for vibes. Have y’all seen that one edit set to this song? Yeah

The Neighborhood - Prey: I feel like this song captures the general unease that Michael feels right before he sees the boys kill for the first time, knowing that he’s probably turning into a vampire and something horrible is happening… especially with “Something is wrong, I feel like prey” just generally describing what it must feel like to be a human among vampires (though he’s not fully human anymore at this point)

PART 3: REALIZATION + FIGHTING BACK

TAEMIN - Criminal: YET ANOTHER TAEMIN SONG!!!! It’s all about realizing you're with someone who’s like, an evil manipulative villain and genuinely bad for you but you can’t escape just yet because you’re kinda into it. I don't think David is THAT bad of a guy, but Michael could be like “I need to get out of this situation because this man is a vampire but I feel attracted to him and it’s hard to really get away”. Also the line “My hands holding yours that stabbed me are not clean either” just HITS cus Michael hates David’s vampirism but HE’S a half-vampire now so it’s not like he’s innocent either. This is just a really good 95060 song AND a good song in general, listen to it even if you don't normally like K-pop cus it slaps

Glass Animals - Wyrd: This would be the moment where Michael snaps out of it and just starts running away, but to no avail, because he’s still a half-vampire (“You can’t run so you must hide” meaning that he can’t outrun his new monstrous nature, the best he can do is hide it until it eats him alive). Meanwhile David laments over how this is a stupid decision from his perspective (“So, my friend, our time is done/You and I could’ve had so much”)

Moonface - Minotaur Forgiving Theseus: This is a very veeeeery bitter song from Michael’s perspective about David being a vampire… with the “You’re just a hitman” repetition referencing how David. Y’know. Eats people. And the “I heard you're coming for me now” references both how David first approached him and the impending confrontation

The Neighborhood - The Beach: This song goes from the bitterness of the previous one to a pseudo-acceptance of the end of their brief friendship and what’s inevitably going to happen next. However, I think the bridge of the song illustrates the little bit of Michael that doesn’t want this to happen, that wants this relationship to somehow work out because he cares about David even if he is a vampire (unfortunately he ends up repressing this because he feels a duty to kill David now)

Gorillaz - Rhinestone Eyes: This is mostly in here because of the music video, the buildup to a battle just echoes in my head whenever I hear this song now. In the context of this playlist it makes me imagine David looking up at the Emerson’s house from the hotel (and Michael doing the opposite) knowing that something’s about to happen and it’s going to be horrible

Glass Animals - JDNT: This entire song feels like the climax of the movie. Verse 1 feels like the Emersons and Frogs getting ready to attack the cave (“I’m all armored up”) with “I feel that final poke” being when Marko gets staked, and the chorus right after is a tinge of regret that Michael feels once the plan starts to take shape. Verse 2 is the other boys waking up to see that Marko is dead + them dying themselves (“Where my funny friends gone?”) and the bridge is Michael and David’s fight before Michael finally gores David on the antlers. The outro of “You can’t breathe without me” VERY much feels like David taunting Michael from beyond the grave, knowing how much Michael loved him and how horrible what he’s just done is

PART 4: GRIEF

The Brazen Youth - Burn Slowly/I Love You: Ooooooghghgh the conflicted feelings about their relationship is STRONG in this one… The “Burn Slowly” part being him trying to convince himself that he did the right thing by killing David while the “I Love You” part is him realizing that he really did love David and it fucking hurts

Sufjan Stevens - The Predatory Wasp Of The Palisades Is Out To Get Us: MAN. MAN… Everything past “I can’t explain the state that I'm in” is just so… it’s Michael realizing what he had even more and just how much it hurts that he’s lost it. He knows he was in love now and it fucking hurts SO MUCH!!!!!

Sufjan Stevens - The Only Thing: [head in my fucking hands] Michael moping around Santa Carla because it feels empty without David. All the “should I tear my eyes out now?/Should I tear my heart out now?” parts oh my GOOOOOOOOD sufjan stevens i'm going to slap you on the head.

Paramore - Tell Me How: THIS SONG HURTS SO MUCH ITS SO. It’s another one about conflicting feelings so theoretically it should be earlier in the story but I always envision something very morbid when listening to this (and have now written a fic about it so check that out)… Michael going back to the hotel where he put David’s body and musing to no one, asking how he’s supposed to feel now, the “And always coming to your defenses” where Michael keeps defending David and their relationship to his family who all think David was a horrible monster… this song fucking hurts. Also I unintentionally drew a parallel between JDNT’s “You can’t breathe without me” and this song’s “Do I suffocate or let go?” and now that I’ve realized that it hurts even more. Fuck this song

A: (The minors were) an eye-opener, with massive learning experience. When I finally went up and I played with Crosby, I’d always rip on Sid, like ‘Buddy, you didn’t even play in the minors. You have no clue what it’s like to battle and grind. Battle and grind and learn and play guys, you never even heard of some of these guys that I had to play against that were savages. They’re just crazy. You came right to the NHL, skipped a whole great step of hockey, of playing in the minors, learning and development’. Turns out he was pretty darn good though (laughs).

Q: What the heck did Sid the Kid say when you were busting his balls about not being in the minors?

A: ‘Here you go again’, he always gets going. ‘Aw, here you go! Aw, the minors. Okayyy’. I always like to get him going. I like to give him a hard time about that. But you know what, for as good as he is, and the kind of path that he had was totally different from anyone’s, but still, just a super grounded, totally great, normal, genuine hockey guy.

We had such great times together, man. I loved hanging out with him, and obviously practising on the same sheet as him every day was unbelievable, learning from him. I was like 23 years old and he was 18, and I was asking him a hundred million questions (laughs). He was that good.

Q: Yeah, crazy that he sees the game that way.

A: I know! My god, I know. Like I ask him stuff, like, ‘Buddy, we’re on a two-on-one. Where do I go? Where do you want me? In the triangle? To the back post? Just tell me what you want’. And he’s like, ‘Man, just get off the back of his heels’. And I’m like, ‘What…?’ And he’s like, ‘I’ll just pass it by his heels because he can’t move his foot back. It’s hard for a defenceman to move his foot- He can move his foot forward and block it but it’s harder for them when they’re backing up to move his foot’. Just little things that he did. Just asking him questions.

Q: He understood it as an 18-year-old?

A: Seeing stuff like that and understanding that as an 18-year-old coming into the NHL, the little fine details of understanding where everyone is on the ice all the time, in the corner, no look back through six layers of defenders and players to the far side D-men pinching down, and just right on his tape, perfect, out of traffic, out of a pile of guys on him. He has, like, a sense of where everyone is, and he always has outs no matter what because he sees things no one else does.

Even now I get to go to games. I sit up in the press box. I’m sitting up there and watching and he’s doing stuff that I didn’t even see in the pressbox. How? There’s no way he knew that guy was there. That had to be just, like, a hope play. Like he just threw it to that area. But it’s not. He sees it all. It’s crazy. I don’t know how he does it. It’s a gift.

Q: What was it like playing on a line with Mr Crosby?

A: It was incredible. It was awesome. It was, like, the time of my life, man. It was great. I liked playing with him… My first year in the league I think I had 40 points in 47 games - and I played like the first 12 to 15 games on the fourth line and I got like two assists in that time and maybe one goal. So the pace that we went on was, for me, playing with Sid - Sid got a 100-something points that year - but to be involved and around that… and, like, the buzz of the Crosby machine at the time. He was a rookie sensation, and all of the buzz around him.

You got to visiting rinks and everyone wants to get a look at him and watch him play. It was just an incredible vibe to be around every day. Practice, our dressing room’s crammed with media. It was so cool to get put in that situation by him being there, being around that, having more people watching and paying attention.

It was good. Our team wasn’t good but it was really fun playing with him. Cus he’s kinda like a grinder a little bit. He has the tendencies where he can go and play in those hard areas, but it’s just everything else that he has along with that just puts him above everything. He was fun to play with him. Like, the little give-and-go ten-foot plays with him, and out of the corners. That’s the way I kind of thought.

He could go through guys on his own and hold guys off, and only so many guys can do that. For me it was tactical to get in a corner, bump a guy off a puck, free the puck, Sid would come in, swoop in there and get it. I’d jump out, he’d bump it back to me, I’d give it back to him right away, pick a guy, he’d roll back down the wall, a guy on his hip, ‘see you later, you’re not catching up’.

You know, he’d just run these little three plays to set up the one play, and he worked good in those tight areas. He’s really good in the corners and in tight spaces, a guy on his hip. I don’t think there’s anyone better in the league with a guy on his back. So it was fun just for my game to play with a guy who was uber elite at playing my game (laughs). Crazy. He can do it all.

Q: Wow, one of the best players to ever play the game, and you get to sit shotgun to him and throw up some points.

A: Yeah, I roomed with him on the road for a few years.

Q: You were in Sidney Crosby’s room?

A: Yeah, when we had roommates, yeah. So we roomed together for a few years and after every game if we’re on the road, talking to him, or wrestling and beating him up to him starting to get stronger and trying to throw me around. I was going, ‘Oh oh, here he goes, a young kid starting to get strong’.

It was fun. We had a really good time together. It was fun every day. I think I kept him a little bit loose too. We had our good routine that we kind of had set up and worked good. Although I snored a little bit. He wasn’t too happy about that (laughs).

But comes with the nose. When you don’t play in the minors and you don’t work on your nose construction that well, you got a nice Crosby nose. Like, ‘Buddy, you gotta go to the minors and grind a little bit. Then you’ll start snoring. Grizzle yourself up’. (long sigh) Those were fun days.

Q: Skipping the minors right to the pros. If I could just be a fly on the wall, that would be awesome.

A: Oh, yeah. It was fun. I love giving it to him. I love ripping on him, his legs, and ‘Look how big your butt is! What the heck is wrong with you? Look at you!’ ‘Cus he’s built like the perfect hockey player. He’s like 5’10, 5’11, whatever he is, 6’0, I don’t even know. He’s stocky. He’s got the wide base. He’s got the butt, the legs. And I’m like this skinny, gangly opposite. I’d just rip on him.

But, man, we had some good times together. He pushed me hard. He was younger than me, but he pushed me hard. In practice, like, ‘Let’s go’. In a game, like, ‘Make that play. We got to make that play’. I loved it. I loved the competitive factor that he had. And he didn’t back down from, like- You know, we’d go into Philly, and everyone hated him and hated us, and guys are on his back, like (Derian) Hatcher, all these giant defencemen, and he’d go right at them. He didn’t care. He was right in there. And I loved it ‘cus I was on his line so I was in there too. Unbelievable. It was just so much fun. We were young and didn’t know anything better.

Tmblrvision 2017 - My Honest Opinions

Hi you may (or may not) know me as the French head of delegation in this year’s Tmblrvision! I thought I would post my reviews of each of this year’s many songs in case you wonder what I genuinely thought of your or other people’s songs.

I’m really bad at describing things but enjoy

Song 01 - Germany - “Achterbahn”

This song is really such a bop. One of my favorites this year and I wish I could have given it more points than I did but there were other songs I liked just a bit more.

Song 02 - Egypt - “El Hares Allah”

Not the worst song ever but it loses me because it’s just kind of generic and forgettable and not really my type of music to begin with

Song 03 - Moldova - “Ce s-a intamplat cu noi”

This one is pretty good, it isn’t in my top 10 but I really do see the appeal. #1 in televote was a pleasant surprise.

Song 04 - Belarus - “Opushka”

This one is really nice in my opinion. I like how the music slowly builds up and I think the singer’s voice is cute. I’m surprised it didn’t do better overall.

Song 05 - Finland - “Musta”

This one is very cool. Didn’t deserve a mere 7 points in the jury vote but thankfully the televote saved this song because that’s what it deserves!!!!!!!

Song 06 - Albania - “Nëntori”

Not really my thing, too plain. She has a great voice though.

Song 07 - Jordan - “Love Somebody”

This reminds me of the tween friendly pop they shove in your face when you watch Disney channel for longer than 10 minutes and I’m not really interested in that sort of thing

Song 08 - Czechia - “Lover”

Pretty good! Another something I’d have voted for but I liked other songs better.

Song 09 - Russia - “Иди Ко Мне”

I enjoy this song when it’s playing but struggle to remember it when it isn’t. Not a bad song but I was expecting a stronger entry from Russia.

Song 10 - Israel - “Wishing Girl”

Very cute, catchy and nice. I really like this one and I’m happy to see it won!

Song 11 - Montenegro - “Burn This Bridge”

This one is pretty good. That’s kind of all I have to say about it

Song 12 - Andorra - “Diuen, Diuen...”

This song is quite interesting and unique, especially for such a small country as Andorra is. This fell short of me giving it points when I shortlisted my votes but it did not deserve such a low score!!!

Song 13 - Lithuania - “Star”

I didn’t really like this so much on first listen but after like two weeks now of listening to this my opinion has changed to “This song is so fucking weird but I love it” and I’m completely okay with that

Song 14 - Portugal - “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back”

I know people tend to not like when mainstream songs get sent to contests, and usually I am one of those people, but damn, this song is GOOD, go Shawn

Song 15 - Tunisia - “Ya hmema”

I don’t like this at all sorryyyyyyyy

Song 16 - Bulgaria - “Oshte”

I don’t feel particularly strongly about this entry but there’s nothing wrong with it. I think it’s just good

Song 17 - Iceland - “My Blues”

I don’t care for this song, I usually like Greta but this song isn’t really my style

Song 18 - Monaco - “La Femme à la Peau Bleue”

This one is so good and I love this kind of music. Chris asked me not to vote for their song for the memes so I didn’t give this one points but I probably would have at least televoted for it otherwise

Song 19 - Armenia - “Zartonk”

I like this one it makes me want to drink the blood of my enemies

Song 20 - Denmark - “Surrender”

I really love Eivør and I think this is such a great song so I’m 100% here for this! And of course I was hoping it would score better seeing as I gave it a douze. Just such an excellent song to me

Song 21 - Algeria - “Comme tous les soirs“

I enjoy this one!

Song 22 - Slovakia - “Don’t Leave Me Now”

This song is pretty good, I like it. Doesn’t stand out much to me otherwise

Song 23 - Turkey - “Sığamıyorum”

If any country is gonna bring a big ol’ bop to an online contest it has got to be Turkey and this is not an exception!!!!!!!

Song 24 - Bosnia - "Himna generacije"

This one is a bop too. I like the message. It reminds me of Alcohol is Free but not silly

Song 25 - Greece - “Mantissa”

This one is lovely, I really like the singer’s voice and how the song flows along

Song 26 - Lebanon - “No Service”

I think this song is really smooth and nice to listen to. Love the singer’s voice. A good good song. I can’t believe I was one of the only Heads of Delegation to give this any points???

Song 27 - Switzerland - “Fever”

This one is pretty good

Song 28 - Serbia - “Nismo smeli”

This one is really nice, you just can’t go wrong with Marija!!!!!!!!!!

Song 29 - Azerbaijan - “Tell Me About Love”

Another song that isn’t really bad or anything, just not my favorite type of music.

Song 30 - Austria - “Dangerous Affair”

Good song! Zoe is great.

Song 31 - Netherlands - “Without the Sun”

This song is alright. I prefer EDM that’s more danceable than mellow.

Song 32 - Malta - “Ħafi Paċi Kuluri”

I love this song! It puts me in a really good mood. Should have placed much higher!

Song 33 - Hungary - “Feri feneke”

Look I have no fucking clue what this song is about but it is addictive and I’m into it. This also should be higher in the results

Song 34 - Morocco - “Yallah”

This song is pretty cute! I like it especially when she go “yallah! :)” in that voice you know the one

Song 35 - Norway - “Don’t Kill My Vibe”

I don’t know about this one, I have mixed feelings toward it. Like I enjoy some parts but find other parts annoying so I guess it depends on my mood. Not all bad though

Song 36 - Cyprus - “Afro ton kero”

Just a meh on this

Song 37 - France - “Ça va, ça va”

I think this one is kind of boring? I dunno. Not my thing but I’m not surprised that other people liked it

A great song, I’m surprised this didn’t place like top 5 or something but it still got a good result so NICE

The song is ok, not anything special to me though

I don’t like this song that much even though I really like Lo��c’s other stuff. The beginning puts me off especially

This entry is really good! The vocals are great and the song has an interesting story I feel like.

This song is okay, doesn’t draw me in as much as I think a song like this is designed to pull someone in.

Song 49 - Luxembourg - “The Place We Used To Call Home”

I don’t know, It’s not bad but I don’t enjoy it that much

Song 50 - Slovenia - “Oba”

This one is just so boring I’m sorry

Song 51 - Italy - “Vulcano”

This entry is nice, but I don’t like Francesca Michielin as much as everyone else does I guess telling from these results

Song 52 - Ukraine - “Антарктида”

This song has a really cool music video but No Of Fence the song itself is just unbearable to me. When it intensifies it just sounds like 6 different mismatched beats are playing on top of each other while the woman shouts and it hurts my head to listen to whoops

Song 53 - Croatia - “1000 ljudi”

I don’t know why I like this but I do it’s a nice ass song

Full PlayLew: Kingdom Hearts

hey so it’s been a while since i really wrote anything about games but recently i bought the Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 - ReMix - collection (not to be confused with Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue you silly goose) which is a collection of Kingdom Hearts, Re:Chain of Memories, Kingdom Hearts II, Birth by Sleep and full cinematics for the two early DS games...that’s a lot of Kingdom Hearts...and because i only owned my first PS2 in 2013, i missed out on the whole Kingdom Hearts shabang! so let's document my first playthrough of the game that started it all; Kingdom Hearts! depending, i might write up a post about all the games as i play them and tell you all what a Birth by Sleep is but for now, let’s keep this Simple And Clean and start with the first game

(warning: spoilers for the game and full on rambling)

So there's a reason why I wanted to get into Kingdom Hearts, asides from Millenial Peer Pressure to understand what Simple And Clean means, cus there's one cutscene I saw from the second game where Goofy gets smacked with a rock and Mickey Mouse in a super hot topic zipped jacket gets really upset and the entire scene is both super melodramatic and absurd at the same time and I REALLY liked that. I really liked the idea of this crossover series from the two biggest giants of it's day, just going 100% extra and hopefully taking its premise to the next level...and it does.

Like, one of the first things you do in this game is meet Wakka from FFX and smack him with a wooden sword and there's a cutscene not further on where Aerith is having a serious discussion with Goofy and Donald Duck about a metaphorical darkness and...it's great. i'm going on about this aspect so much immediately because it's my favourite part of the game. the charm and the balance of touching tribute and ridiculous revelations that Kingdom Hearts achieves with merging its properties.

The actual game itself isn't the showstopper here but it's still worth talking about. It plays like a third person action game where you have all the bearings of it's Final Fantasy brethren with random encounters, leveling up, a party system and summons but the game doesn't load in and out of battles, you just get straight into a brawl on the map and there's no turn based battle system. I gotta give the team credit for wanting to make a different combat system than a lot of similar JRPGs at the time because it really helps give the series its own identity from minute one, with both the system and the keyblade weapon that you use to melee and cast spells with. At first it can be a bit jarring and hard to play. Sometimes the camera feels too tight behind Sora (the dude you play as) and processing the 3D space between you and the enemy can be a bit difficult to judge. Also the tightness means you'll get hit by off-screen attacks quite a bit more than you'd feel fair but once you start to get the hang of fighting through tough battles and slowly gain new spells, like a self heal, and a fuckin roll (!), it starts to click and becomes an enjoyable fighting system. The enemy variety in the game could've been upped to keep it more interesting in the later stages but it feels satisying to blow enemies UP with your keyblade (god I love the keyblade's design so much)...and it's hard not to admit the satisfaction of the one-on-one rival battles. When you're up against a dude the same size as you and he's got a melee weapon as well...it is Fire 100 Turn Up The BBQ.

It's a shame that those type of boss fights only really appear near the end because, for the first half at least, the boss fights aren't too great. The worst boss fights that show up in this game are the ones where the hurtbox of the enemy is on a head or a high part of their body, so as Sora you have to jump up and do an air combo at their hurtbox, hoping the hits connect or that you get your full combo out or the enemy doesn't move as you're jumping or the enemy just doesn't knock you out of it...but most of the time that stuff happens and it makes those boss fights some of the most annoying and unsatisfying. There's one boss fight in perticular, at the end of the Wonderland level, which is pretty much the first proper level of the game, that is really tall and his hurtbox is his main body which is propped up on two huge legs and trying to HIT IT is so tough. If you're on the ground, you have to make sure to jump and start attacking at the height of your combo otherwise you'll hit his legs which means that your attacks will literally bounce off him and you'll be flung to the ground. Even when I did get hits in on his body from jumping off the ground, i'd usually only get one or two hits in before I just hit the ground again and...that's not fun! There's a table in the middle of the arena you can climb onto that gives you a platform to jump off and smack him with but ONE that's just as annoying. having to keep climbing up this table to get three or four hits in, fall to the ground and repeat is bad and TWO the table is destructible by the boss! So he can just destroy it and make it even more annoying! Also he takes reduced damage from the 1 out of 2 spells you have at that time. Ahhhhh!!! And whilst no other boss comes close to being as annoying as that, there's still other bosses that use some of it's Anti-Fun Kata Techniques and they can be pretty unsatisfying.

Also some of the worlds in this game can be hit or miss. In Kingdom Hearts you travel between levels that, at most times, are Disney themed worlds like Neverland, Pumpkin Town and Olympus Collesium. Some of them are literally just 3 or 4 rooms, some are bland and some are downright barbaric like the Tarzan level that makes you travel up and down the level several times to trigger new cutscenes or events to progress the story and it can get really frustrating ESPECIALLY when the game doesn't make it all that clear where you need to go or what you have to do, so you're just hopelessly running around, entering in and out of buildings hoping something changes!

So okay, i've talked about what didn't work in this game BUT worry not, positive vibes are coming in the form of my early point; presentation! The game is a Disney and Final Fantasy crossover and the game's use of those licenses helps prop the game up massively. The Wonderland level, whilst not the most interesting level design wise, is propped up massively by just the very idea of it being Wonderland and everything that comes with it. Fun, colourful imagery! Gimmicks involving being huge and small! Twisted geometry spaces! A purple talking cat! Like the way they use their licenses to create these distinct, colourful, imaginative worlds with a diverse set of characters feels like cheating since they're using already existing brands but it's no lie that this all helps create a game that really feels like you're playing on this large Disneyland rollercoaster that shows you the world! And you're not just going by saying “I recognise the thing! I clapped!”, you're fuckinnnng in the thing! You're interacting with all the things! Sometimes you even kill the things and just twisting the properties onto their heads! Remember that time Clayton from Tarzan got fucking killed by a chameleon crushing him?? Yeah! Me too! It's rad!! Remember that time Hades from Hercules hired Cloud to kill you?? Yeah!! That's what makes this whole thing feel fun and worthwhile and not a simple nostalgia grab or whatever. Cus Disney gave them full license to do whatever they wanted and guess what W E D O I T said Nomura.

I also love how in certain worlds, aesthetics or even entire systems will change to match it. Like how in Little Mermaid level, you play it completely underwater. They could have made you stick to the bottom of the seabed and play it like a normal level or put you in a sub or whatever but they didn't, instead they change Sora and your parties models so you're a mermaid and you have to instead move using square and circle to go up and down through the water. That's cool! In the Neverland level, you get to fly like Peter Pan through the level and fighting flying pirate ships in the sky as you float is wonderful! And the part at the end where you go to a city level and you fly around the equivalent of Big Ben as the music swells up is one of my highlights from the game...cus it just FELT good in my hands. Even the smaller changes like Sora getting a new, gothed up, halloween costume for the Nightmare Before Christmas level is a cute touch! In a perfect world all of these changes would have happened for the majority of levels but alas.

There's also this Winnie the Pooh world that's probably my favourite. At a part of the game, you get a book that you can access and as you open the book, you find yourself walking around 100 Acre Woods and meeting Winnie the Pooh but the rest of the pages are missing. So as you go through levels, you find these pages for the book and for each page you get a new level of 100 Acre Woods that feels like a light, adventure where you're hanging around with Winnie the Pooh and friends. There's no combat in the levels, it's all just mini-games and talking with Pooh and the cast...and it's wonderful. Not only does it fit the tone of the license, cheerful fun, but the feel of the level from the writing and the adventures just feels...Pooh-like. And then when you get that last page and you get Pooh and all his friends together and they bid you farewell and the book closes to show a picture of Sora holding hands with Pooh...i got emotional man...i really did.

And then there's the other side of the spectrum, from fighting off tears over a really well done, careful use of it's properties to grinning like mad with tears of laughter at the ridiculous use of its property. Okay so like the end of the game is, the greatest. After you defeat the main bad guy (he was a scientist trying to use darkness for power blah blah), you get this scene where Sora and friends find the door to the Kingdom Hearts! The source of all hearts! And in it there are Heartless (the enemies) coming out of it so you have to go and close the door BUT doing it on your own isn't enough so you have to use the help of your friend Riku (he was a friend-turned-rival-turned-back to friend by the end)to shut it BUT! He has to shut it from the other side of the door which means locking himself in with the Heartless and the darkness within it. So he's basically gonna get fucked. And Sora realises this and after refusing to shut the door at Riku's request, he obliges and in an emotional moment goes to push it shut….BUT SHUT THE FUCK UP, DONALD DUCK PEEKS IN THE DOOR AND GOES “WUHHHHH” AND YOU NOTICE MICKEY MOUSE'S ICONIC EARS AND HEAD CAST A SHADOW AND IN AN EXTREMELY MICKEY MOUSE VOICE GOES “HEY SORA!” AND IT'S LIKE FUCKING AWESOME. FUCKING GREAT. EMOTIONAL MOMENT -DEFUSED-, PREY SLAUGHTERED CUS MICKEY MOUSE TALKED. I couldn't stop laughing the whole time and then mickey mouse shuts the door and all is saved. BUT THEN because of complications, Sora has to leave behind his childhood sweeheart Kairi that he saved to go back to her world whilst Sora gets left behind in wherever he is and then Simple And Clean, the main theme, just blast with its cheesy super early 2000's musical sheen as a closing FMV plays where Kairi is crying about missing Sora and everyone is all happy cus they get to see their friends again and it's so...innocent and perhaps naive at what it's doing but it fills me life man. I was singing the lyrics to this RnB track as I thought about the events that just occurred and seeing Pinnochio turn into a real boy and Cloud meet back up with Aerith and maaaaaaaan

That's why I really like Kingdom Hearts. The gameplay is generally fun despite some dips, there's some rewarding treasure hunts despite the level design being bland….on a purely Game perspective, it isn't that special and is probably worse than other 3D platformers of it's time BUT where it really shines and where the charm gets to me in this game is just how much it celebrates and lets you engage with it's crossover. Whether it's trying to evoke a feeling of sadness at a childhood gone by or drama through laughable scenarios involving Disney and Square Enix characters...it's just got real charm and i'm so happy this game exists. I'm even happier that it was successful enough to spawn an entire franchise that still has young kids and grown adults getting hyped for it's next installment. It's a weird kinda magic that I don't think any other game or series has fully replicated. Will the charm wear off I play through more and more of these games? I dunno, we'll see...but for now, Kingdom Hearts, thank you for being really Goofy.

So I finally read the little post about all the Joke Meme for Chapter 3 Teaser and it made me wonder… Does Erlang ever get a win? Or will he ever get one?

Like to start off our man is going on a mission—ope, no he’s not he out cold with the frying pan to the back of the head. Oh but he’ll remember what happened and be mad—no he won’t, he thinks he’s the one person in Heaven’s history that partied harder than Sun “Casually Drank 50 bottles of Heavenly Wine and got his 12th of 27 immortalities while hammered” Wukong cuz of how he woke up.

But wait, the Harbinger of Chaos is gone, problem solver and hey, Wukong got back together with some theatre bitch he used to wax poetic about—Erlang takes one moment, one singular moment, and remembers that he thought said theatre bitch died??? Cannot fact check. Moves on with life.

Oh but suddenly the Harbringer is back???? They never defeated him????—Its in some Monkey Kid with Wukong’s powers and he just makes the (smart) decision to not personally go down there unless directly ordered by The Jade Emperor. And hey, there’s the Jade Emperor now and wait why is he locking himself in his throne room?

What’s that? Azure Lion and The Brotherhood are back and on a rampage to kill the Emperor? We’ll buckle up boys! Time to stop this overglorified pussycat and hey, uh, has Azure always looked that good? Like, Erlang thought he looked gold back in the day but, damn, he ages like a fine wine—but in a total bro way! Like, it’s not that he fantasized about Azure or anything in the past or present and wow did he always look good in the sunlight and battle? Wow…

All my rambling to say that from what I gather of Erlang Shen’s story trajectory is that he just unknowingly keeps taking L’s and I find it absolutely hilarious.

Erlang's whole vibe for the first couple of chapters is:

Wakes up covered in wine and dog slobber with the peach attendants yelling at him cus they think he partied Too Hard after a successful mission. Later the Jade Emperor congradulates him on a job well done, with SWK standing there smiling nervously with a broken egg shell thing? And in the corner Nezha's getting yelled at by General Li Jing for some reason??

Erlang's third eye is like "I dunno man. We must've been toasted last night." And Erlang just decides to play along with a stoic look on his face.

I love the idea of his Third Eye acting as a fact checker, but it doesnt give him the context or changelogs.

Erlang, thinking real hard: "Wait... isn't Wukong's mate dead?" *old 90s computer noises* "Nah he aint. Good for them."

And ofc Azure has been doing probation with Manjusri, since Wukong and the Celestial army had to crack down on Camel Ridge. So he and Erlang occassionally interact and spar and whoops, giant lion man hot ( •///•)

I think part of the hilarity comes from the fact that Erlang is destined to win his historical encounter with Sun Wukong no matter what. So in the au, he just keeps getting non-fatal Ls by just minding his own business.

He might just get a win however... if a certain nephew plays nice with that axe of his.

Edit Annotating some of 9.06

Ok, so I was looking through Mick’s last scene in 12.17 but I got distracted by the blocking... and Homeward Bound. I also still have to rewatch 12.18 again to finish that post, but @obsessionisaperfume talked about 9.06 and it intrigued me to have a look again since it does heavily remind me of the current arc with Cas. It’s also on Netflix so yay not dealing with ads. I had used this lens before but actually writing it down showed some interesting patterns. Have 3 scenes from 9.06 with Cas and Dean annotated with editing.

As before, bold text doesn’t necessarily mean important, it just means coverage. Not in coverage is a reaction shot. I’ll note inserts of other things but there really aren’t many. These scenes are all pretty focused.

Some notes about these scenes: There is a lot of OTS (over the shoulder). This shot is often used to show connection and closeness. Having a character in 2D space OTS minimizes the space between the characters in the shot. It also builds a connection and sense of space. Some of these shots could be considered a 2 shot, but they sort of osculate between 2 shot and OTS.

Both denote connection, the 2 shot says that what’s happening from both characters is important.(unless the focus is the environment or space. You can usually tell which is being used when in practice) In western film, if the shot is close, the subject is important, if the subject is far, the environment or space is important. People generally take a more individualistic approach in western cinema, so if someone is in the shot with another character, it probably means something. It could mean that whatever is happening affects both of them, or it could mean that they are the only couple in the crowd. It depends on the narrative.

[OTS mid close on Cas, he crosses behind the register. The camera settles in an OTS pos]

[OTS mid on Dean, cuts to OTS mid close on Cas’ coverage. Cas’ profile can be seen during Dean’s coverage.]

CASTIEL My Grace is gone. What did you expect? Do you have any idea how hard it was? When I fell to earth, I didn't just lose my powers. [cuts to OTS mid close on Dean] I –

[cuts back to OTS mid close on Cas] I had nothing. Now... I'm a sales associate.

[OTS mid] DEAN A sales associate?

The beer delivery guy hands "Steve" a clipboard from out of frame. Cas reaches for before Dean can continue.

[Hand into frame] DELIVERY GUY Hey, Steve. Sign here?

[Mid 2 shot of Dean and Cas across from each other in profile with the counter between them. Delivery guy partially obstructs our sightline of Dean. Dean is not pleased with his blocking being blocked.

CASTIEL takes the clipboard and signs it, continuing to speak to DEAN.

[OTS close mid] CASTIEL I'm responsible for inventory, sales, customer service. I keep this place – (he hands the clip board to the delivery guy, who says "Thank you" and leaves) – Thank YOU (to the delivery guy) – clean and presentable. And when my manager's busy, I even prepare the food.

[OTS close mid] DEAN Wow. So you went from fighting … heavenly battles to nuking taquitos?

[OTS close mid] CASTIEL (nodding) Nachos too.

^Notes about the scene above:

The shots make the characters seem a lot closer to each other except when it pulls back to the master and a couple of high angle OTS shots.

Dean and Cas being interrupted by the delivery guy is interesting. It kind of shows a sudden amount of space between them from what was a series of very close shots in 2D space.

The dialogue that’s given importance when it’s on coverage is generally regarding Cas’ job and humanity. Off coverage is reaction shots mostly. This editor seems to mostly cut around dialogue, or cut like mad. Check this out:

CAS: What are you doing here?

DEAN: Gee, it's nice to see you, too, Cas.

CAS: It's … Steve now. you surprised me.

DEAN: low from the angel threat, but, uh, wow. This is some cover.

[OS to 3 shot mid wide] NORA: I hate to interrupt you guys but Steve, a customer had an accident in the men’s room.

[OTS mid 2 shot of Dean and Cas] CASTIEL: I’m on it.

[CAS OTS mid] NORA: Oh, and tonight. 7 at my place work for you?

[Back to the Dean/Cas OTS mid 2 shot] CASTIEL: Great.

[Close mid] NORA: You’re the best.

[Mop OTS mid 2 shot] DEAN: That’s what this i-[cuts to OTS close when he looks to Cas] -s about.

(Agh, the way Dean looks during this part of the scene is really similar to how he looks in the diner in 12.12 during his “support” there too)

[OTS mid close] CASTIEL: What?

[OTS mid close] DEAN: A girl.

[OTS mid close] CASTIEL: No, Dean. It’s not. Nora... She’s a very nice woman. [shot cuts to include more of Cas and a closer shot of Dean] I’m pretty sure she’s not a reaper intent on killing me... and she’s asked me out. Going on dates is something humans do right?

[CU Dean’s focus with Cas in profile] DEAN: Yeah, I mean my dates usually end when I run out of singles but yeah.. it’s something that.. humans do.

(Dean’s phone starts to ring)

[Master tracking mid 2 shot, follows Dean] DEAN: This is agent Lee Ermey. I’ll be right there.

[2 shot, Dean’s focus, Close mid CAS] DEAN: There’s another kill. Up at the highschool. You coming?

[OTS Close mid] I wouldn’t be much use, and I don’t have my powers.

[Dean’s focus mid close with close Cas’ profile] DEAN: So? I’ve never had powers.

[OTS mid close] CASTIEL: You are a hunter.

[Dean’s focus mid close with close Cas’ profile] DEAN: You’re a hunter in training, remember?

CASTIEL: Yeah, I remember. [cut to OTS mid close] you said I sucked.

[2 shot mid Dean’s focus, mid close Cas] DEAN: I didn’t say that. I said that there was uh, uh... you know, room for improvement. Come on!

[Master OTS 2 shot mid Cas focus] CASTIEL: *sigh* alright, my shifts over in 5 mins and my date’s not until later so..

[OTS mid close] DEAN: That a boy. I’ll go get the car. (pats Cas on the arm)

CASTIEL: Not just yet.

[OTS mid close] CASTIEL: I have to clean the bathroom.

Some notes: Again, coverage dialogue involves stuff regarding humans and dignity.

This scene’s closest shots are of Dean when he decides Nora is the reason for Cas’ dignity. Dean is not pleased about it. It really reminded me of the diner scene in 12.12. Seriously, watch those scenes back to back, it’s freaky.

The mop gets a OTS mid wide 2 shot... Cas has a connection to the mop... Damnit director.

Cas and Dean sort of have their own space throughout the scene. We enter their “space” by following Cas’ track. We exit it briefly following Dean’s track when he gets the call. He goes back and we end the scene in the space but Cas exits it.

[OTS mid. Most of Dean can be seen with Cas. Cas focus] DEAN: Wait.

Insert Mid of Cas undoing the buttons.

[OTS close] DEAN: Okay. That- that’s far enough, Tony Manero.

[OTS close] DEAN: Uh.. Yeah. Good. All right. Listen to me.

[OTS mid close] DEAN: Always open the door for her, okay?

[OTS mid with Cas’ profile] DEAN: Ask a lot of questions. They like that. And uh.. oh, if she says she’s happy to go Dutch? She’s lying.

[OTS mid close] DEAN: All right?

The focus shifts from Dean to Cas and back to Dean. We can see Dean watching Cas leave.

Cas steps out of the Impala with Dean still watching. Dean watches the rest of the scene play out and gives Cas encouragement.

Cas approaches the house intercut with Dean’s PoV. We get a close shot of Dean watching him.

Heh, Dean tries to leave after being waved off but a truck with the brown and cream motif Cas’ current truck has, blocks him.

Scene.

^Ok, that scene there. Serious 11.23 vibes. Like, I had them before but man. I just watched the scene 4 times and agh. Dean even handles it more or less the same way. He leads in, and then backtracks. That was a long ass pause, and yeah, it may have been a joke, but there are only so many close shots you wanna doll out in a scene. These are the only close shots. All of them have coverage dialogue except the last one:

[OTS close] DEAN: I can’t let you do this.

[OTS close] You’re gonna wear that on a date?

[OTS close] DEAN: And now your buttons. Why don’t you unbutton-

[OTS close] DEAN: Uh.. Yeah. Good. All right. Listen to me.

[OTS close] DEAN: Tony Manero.

By the way, that last one? It probably wouldn’t exist if it didn’t mean something. If there wasn’t some reason to show that close up, they probably wouldn’t have. They likely have tons of footage from different setups of that scene. They chose that shot. Why?

Actually, this entire episode feels that way. Especially that scene. Scenes are supposed to go through a -/+ emotional change or a +/- change. So.. what changed in the scene emotionally? What purpose did it serve in the ep overall? In the arc overall? What purpose did this ep serve?

Obviously, I can’t really know about the intent for any of this, but it really seems like Dean has a thing for Cas and vise versa by the editing. Not only that, but this ep is just saturated with romance film tropes.

Some of s12 really feels like an exploration of some of the concepts of this ep. Not sure if intentional, but it’s sure there.
