Meet the OCs: Horizonshine (she/they) - @clanborn
A courier of Brookclan, responsible for trekking over rough terrain to exchange news and deliveries between the clans. A friendly and persistent cat, yet impulsive and immature, with a history of “attention-seeking” behavior. Few members of her clan like them, which has left her resentful and out of place within her own home. She finds herself trapped in an apocalyptic time loop perpetuated by the Lynx, one of the clans’ gods.
Cowpaw (she/her) - @thylacid
Cowpaw is a little freak apprentice who used to be normal but one day she snuck out of camp and boom. Alien parasite. “Ghosts, Greens, and Gotham Gays”
aka: Danny Becomes Harley and Ivy’s New Favorite, Vlad Loses More Hair
Vlad was begging Bruce at this point. Begging.
“Keep him inside for one day, Brucie. Please. For my heart. For my blood pressure. For Gotham’s structural integrity.”
Bruce just took a sip of his black coffee and said, “He’s helping Ivy. It’s fine.”
Vlad gaped. “Helping—Ivy?!”
“Mmhm. Something about cross-referencing chlorokinetic frequencies with ecto-resonance.”
“That’s NOT A SENTENCE A CHILD SHOULD SAY—”
Bruce: “He asked first.”
Meanwhile – Ivy’s Greenhouse (Technically a Crime Lair)
Pamela Isley stood with arms crossed, watching as Danny held a softly glowing green hand over a wilting rose hybrid.
He hummed.
The flower perked up.
The surrounding vines quivered, then bloomed in synchronized delight.
“…He’s not Photosynthesizing,” Ivy whispered.
Harley peeked out from the couch, where she was doing her nails and sipping a neon slushie. “He’s ghost-synthesizing! Told ya!”
Danny looked up and smiled. “It’s like ghost CPR. I’m not a botanist, but I can nudge their ambient soul energy.”
“…Plants don’t have souls,” Ivy said, a bit flat.
Danny patted the vine beside him. It curled around his wrist like a cat and purred.
“…I stand corrected.”
Chaos, But Make It Helpful
Harley was already calling him “Spooky Nibbles” by hour two. (“'Cause ya nibble on chaos, kiddo!”)
Danny, somehow, was:
Helping Ivy revive a nearly extinct bioluminescent flower.
Fixing Harley’s blender with ghost tech so it never jammed again.
Casually mentioning he once made a haunted terrarium that ate cheaters in lab.
“I like this one,” Ivy said, very seriously. “Can we keep him?”
Harley nodded. “He’s got Big Gremlin Energy. Like me but with glowy hands.”
Danny beamed. “Thanks! Uncle Vlad says I’m a walking supernatural violation.”
Pam looked at Vlad, who had finally shown up and was hovering at the doorway like a stressed Victorian governess.
“You never said your godson was delightful,” she said.
“He’s not!” Vlad hissed. “He’s a menace with manners!”
Harley leaned over and whispered to Ivy, “He’s got good ankles too. Vlad’s lucky I’m married.”
Ivy: “So is Vlad.”
Later That Day: A Totally Normal, Casual Ghost Plant Uprising
The rogue CEO of GreenerCorp—an evil pharmaceutical company known for shady testing—arrived to “reclaim his investment” and “teach Isley a lesson.”
Danny stared at him across Ivy’s garden.
CEO Guy: “You’re just a kid. I’m not scared of you.”
Danny: “Oh. That’s okay.”
He raised a hand.
The temperature dropped.
The soil glowed.
Plants started whispering in languages no one understood. A massive vine rose behind Danny, pulsing with ghostly energy. The CEO tripped backward into his own security guard.
Danny took a step forward and said, very politely:
“You should leave before the ghost roses start asking questions.”
The CEO screamed. Ivy gave him a sticker that said “You Messed With The Wrong Garden.” Harley filmed the whole thing and posted it with the caption: “Our spooky nephew made a man pee himself 💚🖤🌿👻”
Later – Back at the Manor
Bruce watched the footage. Vlad was face-down on the couch, groaning into a throw pillow. Tim had already turned the video into a meme. Damian was inspecting one of the ghost plants Danny brought back. “Can I keep it?” Cass nodded. “It likes you.” Jason: “He’s now officially in the Ivy-Harley inner circle. That’s better than the damn Mayor.”
Danny poked his head in from the kitchen, covered in potting soil and ghost glitter.
“I made ecto-compost cookies! They’re great for photosynthesis and graveyard shifts.”
Vlad: screaming internally again
Bruce patted Vlad’s back. “He’s doing well.”
“He joined a villain gardening cult.”
“They like him.”
“EVERYONE LIKES HIM.”
“Maybe you should try it.”
Vlad made a sound like a dying Roomba and walked straight into the wall.

Cliff notes on the new info on Dragon Age: The Veilguard in today’s issue of Game Informer (magazine hub link):
Edit/update: I tidied up this post. ^^
---
In CC you can customize things like shoulder width, chest size, glute size, hip width, how bloodshot your eyes are, nose crookedness, and more
There are hundreds of sliders for body proportions
CC detail: “Features like skin hue, tone, melanin”
There is nudity in DA:TV, “which I learned firsthand while customizing my Rook” in CC
Rook’s backstory also affects “reputation standing”, along with the other previously-known things like in-game dialogue etc
Lords of Fortune are pirate-themed, “piratic”
Rook ascends because of competency, not because of a magical McGuffin, contrasting with the 'destiny-has-chosen you’ angle DA:I has for the Inquisitor
Rook is here because they chose to be, “and that speaks to the kind of character that we’ve built. Someone needs to stop this, and Rook says, ‘I guess that’s me'”
The 4 voices we can choose for Rook each have a pitch shifter in CC
The game starts inside the bar (as previously detailed in other coverage)
In some dialogue wheels there is a “romantically inclined ‘emotional’ response” option. These are the replies that will build relationships with characters, romantic and platonic alike, but you can ignore them if you want to. Giving a companion the cold shoulder might nudge them into another companion’s embrace however
Bellara’s surname is Lutara
In the streets of Minrathous (in the opening segment of the game), there is a wide, winding pathway with a pub which has a dozen NPCs in it (is this The Swan tavern?)
The devs used the DA:TV CC to make each in-world NPC, except for specific characters like companions
There is smart use of verticality, scaling and wayfinding in the gameplay
If you play as e.g. a qunari Rook, the camera adjusts to ensure larger characters like them loom over those below. The camera also adjusts appropriately for dwarves to demonstrate their smaller stature
Neve Gallus is described as being capable
The Venatori Cultists we fight in the opening segment of the game are seizing the chaos caused by the demons unleashed by Solas’ ritual to try and take the opportunity to take over the city
As you traverse deeper and deeper into Solas’ hideout, more of his murals appear on the walls, and things 'get more elven'. Rhodes says “this is because you’re symbolically going back in time, as Minrathous is a city built by mages on the bones of what was originally the home of the elves”
At the heart of Solas’ hideout is his personal eluvian
Demons are fully redesigned in this game, on their original premise as creatures of feeling that live and die off the emotions around them. “As such, they are just a floating nervous system, pushed into this world from the Fade, rapidly assembled into bodies out of whatever scraps they find”
In the opening, we stop Solas’ ritual and save the world. “For now” anyways. Rook passes out moments later and wakes up in a dream-like landscape to the voice of Solas. He explains that a few drops of Rook’s blood interacted with the ritual, connecting them to the Fade forever. (I guess this is why they said in the Discord Q&A on June 14th that Rook has good reasons to want to avoid blood magic)
He also says that he was attempting to move Elgar’nan and Ghilan’nain (confirming who the two Evil Gods are) to a new prison, because the one he had previously constructed was failing. Unfortunately, Solas is trapped in the Fade by our doing, and the two gods are now free. “It’s up to Rook to stop them”, thus setting the stage for our adventure
Rook wakes up after this with Harding and Neve “in the lair of the Dread Wolf himself”, a special magical realm in the Fade called The Lighthouse. It’s a towering structure centered amongst various floating islands. This is where the team bonds, grows, and prepares for its adventures. It becomes more functional and homier as you do. “Already, though, it’s a beautifully distraught headquarters for the Veilguard, although they aren’t quite referring to themselves as that just yet”.
Because it was Solas’ home base, it's gaudy, with his fresco murals adorning various walls, greenery hanging from above, and hues of purple and touches of gold everywhere. Since it’s in the Fade, which is a realm of dreams that responds to your world state and emotion, the Lighthouse “reflects the chaos and disrepair of the Thedas you were in moments ago”
Clock symbols over dialogue icons signal optional dialogue options
At this point you can head over to Neve, engage in dialogue, and try and flirt with her
There is a dining hall in the Lighthouse. A plate, cutlery and a drinking chalice are at the end of a massive table. Matt Rhodes says that this is a funny and sad look at Solas’ isolated existence, and an example of the detail BioWare’s art team has put into DA:TV. “It’s like when you go to a friend’s house and see their bedroom for the first time; you get to learn more about them”
There is also a library, which is the central area of the The Lighthouse. It’s here that the party will often regroup and prepare for what’s next
The team decides that it must reach the ritual site back in Arlathan Forest. Corinne Busche said that the writer was "missing unique dialogue options here because I’m qunari; an elf would have more to say about the Fade due to their connection to it. The same goes for my backstory earlier in Minrathous. If I had picked the Shadow Dragons background, Neve would have recognized me immediately, with unique dialogue”
The team decide their next move. They go to Solas’ eluvian and back through to the ritual site in Arlathan Forest. However, it’s not fully functional without Solas, and while it returns them to the Forest, it’s not exactly where they want to go. Then a demon-infested suit of mechanized armor known as a Sentinel attacks them, and two NPCs appear to save you: the Veil Jumpers Strife and Irelin. Harding recognizes them, which you would expect if you read the comic Dragon Age: The Missing. They are experts in ancient elven magic. A cutscene ensues and we learn that Strife and Irelin need help finding Bellara Lutara. This cutscene is long and has multiple dialogue options.
“There’s a heavy emphasis on storytelling and dialogue, and it feels deep and meaty, like a good fantasy novel. BioWare doesn’t shy away from minutes-long cutscenes”
For Rook, this story is about what does it mean to be a leader? We define their leadership style with our choices. “From the sound of it, my team will react to my chosen leadership style in how my relationships play out.” This is demonstrated within the game’s dialogue and a special relationship meter on each character’s companion screen
Bellara is deep within Arlathan Forest, and following the events of the prologue, something is up here. Three rings of massive rocks fly through the air, protecting what appears to be a central fortress. Demon Sentinels plague the surrounding lands.
In gameplay/combat, players complete every swing in real time. Special care was taken in development for animation swing-through and cancelling. We can dash, parry, charge moves, and a completely revamped healing system that allows us to use potions at our discretion by hitting right on the d-pad. You can combo attacks and even ‘bookmark’ combos with a quick dash, which means that you can pause a combo’s status with a dash to safety and continue the rest of the combo afterward
Abilities can be used to customize your kit. They can be used on the fly as long as you account for cooldowns
When you pause and pull up the ability Wheel, it highlights you and your companions’ skills. There you can choose abilities, queue them, target specific enemies, and strategize with synergies and combos
Each character plays the same in that you execute light and heavy attacks with the same buttons, use abilities with the same buttons, and interact with the combo wheel in the same way, regardless of which class you select
Sword and shield warriors can hip-fire or aim their shield and throw it like Captain America
Warriors can parry incoming attacks which can stagger enemies. Rogues have a larger parry window. The mage the writer played couldn’t parry at all. Instead they throw up a shield that blocks incoming attacks automatically, so long as you have the mana to maintain it
On the start/pause screen: it has the map, journal, character sheets, skill tree, and a library for lore information. You can use it to cross-compare equipment and equip new gear for Rook and their companions, build weapon loadouts for quick change-ups mid-combat, and customize you and your party’s abilities and builds via an easy-to-understand skill tree. There aren’t in-depth minutiae, just "real numbers". For example, an unlocked trait might increase damage by 25 percent against armor, but that’s as in-depth as the numbers get. Passive abilities unlock jump attacks and guarantee critical hit opportunities, while abilities add moves like a Wall of Fire to your arsenal if you’re a mage. As you spec out this skill tree, which is 100 percent bespoke to each class, you’ll work closer to unlocking a spec, complete with a unique ultimate ability
“Sentinels and legions of darkspawn”
Combat is flashy and quick, with different types of health bars. Greenish-blue represents a barrier, which is taken down most effectively with ranged attacks
The game is gorgeous, with sprinkles, droplets, and splashes of magic in each attack a mage unleashes
The game looks amazing on consoles both in fidelity and performance modes
The mission to find Bellara is called “In Entropy’s Grasp”. You find her. She is the first companion you recruit (as Neve auto-joins). If your background is Veil Jumper, you get unique dialogue here with Bellara. She explains that everyone there is all trapped in a Veil Bubble, and there’s no way out once you pass through it. Despite the dire situation, she is bubbly, witty, and charming. She is spunky and effervescent
Companions are the faces of their factions, and in this case with Bellara, their entire area of the world. She is our window into Arlathan Forest. She is described as a sweetheart and a nerd for ancient elven artifacts, which is why she’s dressed more like an academic than a combatant. Her special arm gauntlet is useful both for tinkering with her environment and taking down enemies. While Neve uses ice magic and can slow time with a special ability, Bellara specializes in electricity, and she can also use magic to heal you. Her electric magic is effective against Sentinels. “However, without Bellara, we could also equip a rune that converts my ice magic, for a brief duration, into electricity to counter the Sentinels”
If you don’t direct your companions in combat, they are fully independent and will attack on their own
You progress at this point through the Forest, encountering more and more darkspawn. Bellara says that they have never been this far before because the underground Deep Roads, which they usually escape from, aren’t nearby. However, with “blighted” (BLIGHTED!) elven gods roaming the world, and thanks to the Blight’s radiation-like spread, it’s a much bigger threat in DA:TV than any prior DA game
The Forest has elven ruins, dense greenery and disgusting Blight tentacles and pustules
The style of the game is more high fantasy than anything in the series thus far and almost reminiscent of the whimsy of Fable. Matt Rhodes says that this is the result of the game’s newfound dose of magic: “The use of magic has been an evolution as the series has gone on. It’s something we’ve been planning for a while because Solas has been planning all this for a while. In the past, you could hint at cooler magical things in the corner because you couldn’t actually go there, but now we actually can, and it’s fun to showcase that.” The Forest’s whimsy will starkly contrast to the game’s other areas. The devs promise some grim locations and even grimmer story moments because, without that contrast, everything falls flat. Corinne says it’s like a “thread of optimism” pulled through otherworldly chaos ravaging Thedas. At this point in the game, Bellara’s personality is that thread
We can advance our bonds with our companions on their own personal quests and by including them in our party on main quests. Every Relationship Level you rank up, shown on their character sheet, nets you a skill point to spend on them. “The choices you make, what you say to companions, how you help them, and more all matter to their development as characters and party members”. Each companion has access to 5 abilities.
Each companion has issues, problems, and personal quests to complete. “Bellara has her own story arc that runs parallel to and informs the story path you’re on” (They’ve said that all of the companions have this too in previous promo material)
You progress deeper into the forest and Bellara spots a floating fortress and thinks that the artifact needed to destroy the Veil Bubble is in there. To reach it, we must remove the floating rock rings, and Bellara’s unique ability, Tinker, can do just that by interacting with a piece of ancient elven technology nearby. Rook can acquire abilities like Tinker later to complete such tasks in instances where Bellara, for example, isn’t in the party
Bellara has to activate three of these in the Forest to reach the castle. Each one you activate brings forth a bunch of Sentinels, demons, and darkspawn to defeat
You can create Arcane Bombs on enemies. It does high damage after being hit by a heavy attack
It sounds like mage characters can charge heavy attacks on their magical staffs. “then switch to magical daggers in a second loadout accessed with a quick tap of down on the d-pad to unleash some quick attacks”
Some enemies are “Frenzied”, meaning that they hit harder, move faster, and have more health
After a few more combat sections, including against a Frenzied sentinel, we reach the center of the temple. In there is an artifact called the Nadas Dirthalen. Bellara knows that this means “the inevitability of knowledge”. Before we can progress, a darkspawn ogre boss attacks, hitting hard with unblockable, red-coded attacks and a massive shield that you need to take down first. It is weak to fire
After defeating it (it’s a climactic arena fight), Bellara uses a special crystal to power the artifact and remove it from the pedestal, which destroys the Veil Bubble. Then, the Nadas Dirthalen comes alive as an Archive Spirit, but because the crystal used to power it breaks, we learn little about this spirit before it disappears. Bellara thinks that she can fix it (fixing broken stuff is her thing), so the group heads back to the Veil Jumper camp. The writer’s demo then ended.
The design of the game is not open world. The devs describe it as a “hub-and-spoke” design where the needs of the story are served by the level design. A version of DA:I’s Crossroads return (the network of teleporting eluvians) and this is how players will traverse across northern Thedas. “Instead of a connected open world, players will travel from eluvian to eluvian to different stretches of this part of the continent”. e.g. Minrathous, tropical beaches, Arlathan Forest, “to grim and gothic areas and elsewhere”. Some of these areas are large and full of secrets and treasures. Others are smaller and more focused on linear storytelling. Arlathan Forest is an example of this, but it still has optional paths and offshoots to explore for loot, healing potion refreshes, and other things.
Each location has a minimap, though linear levels like In Entropy’s Grasp won’t have the 'fog of war' that disappears as you explore like in some of the game’s bigger locations
The game has the largest number of diverse biomes in DA history
The Thedas of DA:TV “lives in the uncertainty”. “the mystery of its narrative”, “the implications of its lore”
The writer is surprised by BioWare’s command over the notoriously difficult Frostbite engine, and by how much narrative thought the dev team poured into these characters, even for BioWare.

ALRIGHT! I told myself I would write this as a reward for finishing today's tasks, so lets go!
Here There Be - Director's Commentary :D!!
Starting with Chapter 1 part 1 (pages 1-4)
First of all, everyone say a big thank you to my friend and editor OurLadyOfCoffee for double checking the spelling and grammar for this comic.
Any mistakes in the writing are my own fault for making last minute changes and not showing her before posting. If she had gotten her hands on this page "missing in all the time in this city" would never have happened ( u_u)... I'll go back and fix the page eventually.
Pages 1 & 2 (and 20) did not exist in the original draft of the chapter. I made it to the lineart/inking stage and the page flow was not working. April's narration felt too cramped and boring. I completely redid the whole 4 page section, and the end the final result is so much better!
Page 1 - Panel 1 had two purposes! One, the establishing shot, introducing our setting. Two, to show that NYC is rebuilding after the Krang. Its been a few months and thanks to cartoon logic, they have made significant progress fixing everything.
I love to experiment with colour as a storytelling device. I use red/orange multiple times at specific points throughout the chapter. It simply morning in NYC or is there something dangerous on the horizon... (figuratively)? The good ol' "Red sky at morning, sailors take warning."
Page 1. Panel 2 has a little 1987 April reference with the lady in the jumpsuit on the right. I was really excited to see a few folks point it out, even if it's not quite the iconic yellow jumpsuit. The colour had to be muted or the bold yellow would pull attention away from April (the focus of the panel).
Hello Junior, what do you have there? Something that won't get context for a while? These panels almost didn't make it into the final cut due to page/panel limits. I was very happy that the added pages gave space for it.
Page 2 - someone sent an ask a while back confused about what April was saying, so to explain the text in a more straightforward way: "the mutants that started out as humans have been going missing, but no one knows how long it has been happening or who has taken them. April has figured out that the non-human based mutations disappeared first."
that orange again, this time over the spots where the now missing mutants used to be :)<. I have no idea if this sort of thing is too subtle or not subtle enough, but it makes me go eheehehee and rub my hands together like an evil mastermind.
Page 3 - I debated whether or not to have them move after the movie. How much structural damage did the Krang do on their way through? What are the chances of the lair being discovered because of this? Would the city be too focused on cleanup elsewhere to bother finding it? Do I really want to design a whole new lair when this one is cool and we barely got to see it? In the end I decided that it was more important to have a familiar visual that the readers can instantly identify as the turtle's home. We'll see if there are consequences for remaining in a potentially compromised lair. :)
Despite only showing two rooms in the page, I spent several hours gathering references and building a layout for the entire station lair. I do not control the hyperfocus, it controls me.
Did you know that there are two different designs for this one archway in the main room? I love seeing stuff like this! If an animation studio with multiple background artists can have small inconsequential inconsistencies like this, then it's completely ok if it happens in my own work. It's relieving in a weird way.
PAGE 3 - panel 5 is another way I tried to show that a few months have passed since the movie. They have put some work into unpacking some of those boxes stacked in the back.

Page 4 - Hello Two Phones Jones <3
The Jones Duo! They both have a little outfit change :D! CJ has a rough edged jean vest calling back to the 1990 movie with 03 colours. Casey has a base outfit colour change to match and a cropped hoodie reminiscent of 1987, in pink ofc.
I do not yet have the skills to show the fight that happened in that shipping yard, so I decided that this comic would begin in the tense quiet after it. This also starts us closer to the actual plot instead of dilly dallying. Maybe I'll eventually make a prelude comic to show what all went down.
Aaand that's pretty much it for April's 03 style narrated opening sequence! This is where the intro theme would start playing~
Thank you for the star, I hope this was interesting! I make so many small decisions per page, it's nice to share some of my thoughts. :)

SHAKESPEAREAN ROSE
Spencer Reid x psychiatrist!reader
Synopsis: Spencer Reid silently admires the new psychiatrist on the floor. Word Count: 1600+ WARNING: nothing, just fluff! A/N: Remember when I said I wrote more than what I posted for Doctors Across The Hall? This is it🤭 (I forgot to post it on aug 1, oops) I've decided to make Spencer Reid x psychiatrist!reader a series! It'll just be a bunch of fluff/angst/rare spicy stuff with psychiatrist!reader that happens in the same timeline but it's not in order. So, not exactly a story just tangents ??? Also I'm open to requests/prompts to keep this going hehe <3 Tell me what you think!
“Guys, you’re so sweet! This is adorable!”
Spencer’s ears perk up at the commotion. Curiosity thrums in his veins as he watches Derek hand you a rose. A small stuffed toy is clutched in your other hand. A wide smile adorns your face. A gorgeous sight on a late Wednesday morning.
Derek laughs, “Can’t take the credit.” He takes Penelope into his right arm. “Baby girl, right here strongly encouraged me.”
Penelope gives you a bone-crushing hug, “Happy National Girlfriends Day, my favorite psychiatrist! Get ready for our sleepover! I have so many plans!” She squeals in excitement, inviting JJ in, who’d just discovered the similar objects on her desk.
Your heart swells. Only two months into the bureau, and you’ve already found yourself a great group of friends. As the newly mandated psychiatrist in the building, it was nerve-wracking to enter the floor that seemed to reak of evil and know-it-alls. And although the BAU team is filled with know-it-alls, despite their constant denial, you managed to squeeze into their group as easily as befriending Penelope Garcia. Considering your office happens to be next to her lair.
“Isn’t that day for couples only? For a girlfriend? Not a girl that's a friend?” You chuckle, taking in the aroma from the single rose.
“Nah-uh,” Penelope wiggles her index finger. “All those boys are just piggybacking on girl power—” She turns to Derek, who’s about to object, “—You’re not included. You have been graciously influenced by moi. I’m just saying that I have my girlfriends, so I will celebrate the day the way I see fit, and that is with my gorgeous, gorgeous babes!”
As JJ begins to add her piece to the excitement parade, Spencer turns to Emily, who comes back from the kitchen, her stuffed toy in hand.
“National Girlfriends Day?” He asks lowly.
“What?” Emily furrows her brows for a moment before it flattens on her forehead. “Oh, that. Just a day some people celebrate to appreciate their girlfriends. Garcia’s excited about it—”
Her voice quiets into the background in an instant. Spencer sits in his mind as he processes the information. National Girlfriends Day. The words echo in his head. A day to appreciate girlfriends…

Lunch is usually your highlight of the day. Not because of the time you eat but because of the time you spend listening to all the sizzling drama Penelope has to offer. It’s an interesting experience to have when you’re also the same person who listens to her cries every time the BAU team flies to yet another case in a different state.
Today, though. It’s quite different.
As soon as you enter the bullpen to check in with another agent’s inquiry regarding your services on the floor, a delivery man approaches you and hands you a huge bouquet of roses. Your newly found friends immediately hover around like shameless busybodies. Though, you never mind at all.
“Oooh, yet another gift from your secret lover…” Emily teases, perching on Derek’s desk as she sips coffee.
Derek joins in, eyebrows raised. “What is that—” He picks up a small note from one of the roses, rolling it open, “—Love looks not with eyes, but with the mind, and therefore is winged Cupid painted blind…” He waves the note with a mischievous grin. “We don’t know this guy, but he sure is cheesy.”
Emily flashes a sheepish smile, “There’s one on each rose! How many roses are there?” She starts counting by eye.
“It’s like Shakespearean roses.” Penelope quips after reading another note from a different rose, passing you the small poem that immediately makes your lips curl.
“Shakespearean roses..? That's a thing?” You curiously inquire, looking over the vast red petals close to your chest.
Penelope shrugs, “Not really, but it could be!” She beams at you.
JJ smiles, joining in after a small detour to her office. “Oh, wow!” Her eyes widen, and her brows lift. “Another one of the noble Sir Rumple?” She coaxes.
“Who is this Sir Rumple, anyway? I’m very curious.” Emily snorts, wiggling her brows at you. She doesn’t push past your clear boundaries but never fails to strike all her attempts to get a name out of you. She’s a profiler, after all.
“Most importantly, when is she going to introduce us to her secret lover?” Derek teases, nudging you playfully.
Just as you look up, Spencer Reid stands behind everyone, clutching the strap of his bag like usual.
His hair is short and untamed. Big hazel brown eyes spark under the fluorescent light. A thin, shy smile. And a familiar red cardigan.
You reckon it was the priciest clothing you’ve ever bought as a small thank you present. But Spencer doesn’t need to know, really.
Time moves slowly at the brewing desire to have Spencer close. His shy smile and adorable averting eyes bring you the thought of domesticity. You imagine him coming home just like that. Messy hair. Giddy, tight-lipped smile. Exhausted features and yet the most handsome man in your books. A spatula in your hand, music in the kitchen, and the hem of his collared shirt swaying over your thighs. It's poetically a dream. Something you wish to have, to do for as long as you're breathing.
“Maybe next time?” You say with blushing cheeks. The utter embarrassment of talking about a secret lover in front of your crush had your mind blown into overdrive.
The group exchanges looks. But they don’t push further, indulging in the rare moment of your silent, sunny smile and hoping that you’re happy with whoever's been showering you with affection.
“Okay, maybe not fully Shakespearean roses,” Penelope interjects, reading a corny joke that had the entire group cringe and you laughing.
The joy in your laughter is like Clair de Lune playing through sunset. Spencer imagines warm tea in his hand, a book on his lap, and your little giggles across as you flip a page of yet another cheesy romance novel. Sunlight along your most beautiful features, which he insists is all of you. The cozy oversized shirt he owns covers the softness of your skin. A simple thought and yet has his heart racing in sheer bliss.
Spencer smiles into his action report. “Shakespearean roses…” He whispers in a chuckle, shaking his head at the idea.
— ✿ — ✿ ✿ — ✿ ✿ ✿
The day comes to a close with excitement and heartwarming joy.
“See you later at 9! Don't be late.” Penelope waves at you as the doors slide closed.
You chuckle at her antics but quickly find yourself in a small predicament, struggling to carry all the tokens of love you’d received from everyone.
“Here, let me help.”
Your eyes meet his. And you think you're having a heart attack. But you make sure to smile kindly with a not-so-eager nod.
“Thanks, Reid.”
He flashes his signature smile, taking the tall bouquet from your hands.
You fight yourself from biting the lower of your lips at the sight of his hand clutching the stem without difficulty. So, you breathe gently and indulge in his warmth next to you.
“Looks like you had a nice day,” Spencer starts tentatively, swaying on the balls of his feet as he hoists your favorite thing of the day.
You turn to him with a hum and a gentle bounce of your shoulders. “I did. I feel loved.” You confess.
Spencer hides his blushing ears. Is it so wrong to wish you always smiled at him like that? Does a lifetime sound too much to ask?
“That's great,” He nods casually, letting the other patrons jump in and out of the lift.
The doors open on the last floor. Both of you walk side by side as you trickle out of the lift into the parking lot. It's not a rule. But somehow, you and he always parked in the lowest lot despite the vast parking spaces above.
He continues the conversation on smaller tangents that make you giggle. How did your sessions today go? How was the new lunch place you went to?
And you throw back the same curiosity with an enthusiasm he admires. Did you finish all your reports? Did you enjoy your lunch stroll?
Spencer hands you the bouquet back as soon as you settle your things in the passenger seat of your car. “See you tomorrow?”
You beam at him, and his eyes soften, “See you tomorrow, Sir Rumple.” You giggle, stealing a quick peck on his cheek.
Before you can turn around, Spencer stills your hips and steals a similar kiss, albeit on the softness of your lips.
The two of you giggle at the silence. Butterflies flutter with tickling speed in both of your stomachs. Maybe keeping your relationship private isn’t as bad as you’d imagine.
He opens the door for you and waits until you're comfortable in your seat. “I think I prefer Shakespearean Rose now.” You announce as he leans on your window.
He playfully pouts, “But I love Sir Rumple better…” He twists his brows. The telltale sign of his gears turning. “Maybe I can be both?” He comprises.
“You can be whatever pseudonym you want,” You smile at him. “You’re the only Spencer Reid I want.”
Spencer’s cheeks tint a shade of soft red. He leans and kisses your forehead.
“Shakespearean Rose it is.”

AU question, because I adore it!!
Do the townsfolk ship stobotnik or believe the two are a thing (dating, married, wtv)?
Since Robotnik needs time to come to terms with his feelings, learn that it's okay and all that, I doubt he'd react well to being called a cute couple, or Stone's husband or whatever, if it ever happens.
Alsooo, has either Shadow or Stone ever gotten hurt on their bikes? Maybe not a car crash, but just taking a curve too fast and falling?
I just love this AU so muuuch I need to dissect it and analyse it under a microscope.
I actually wrote about the townsfolk believing they're a couple in a fic i abandoned! I'll post a bit. Robotnik is just about managing to navigate friendship, if someone said to them about being a couple he'd probably lock himself in the lab/observatory for 2 days and beat himself up over not being ready to outright confess. Then come out and act like nothing happened.
(i'll answer the second part in a different post cos i'll doodle something) and thank you!!
-
“We’re not really looking to travel right now,” Mr. Stone tells me.
I pause for a moment, at the short interruption. Of course, how rude of me! I of all people should know better! It’s not exactly a secret that the doctor has a particular sickness, even just judging from his emaciated appearance. I smile kindly.
“My husband of forty years passed away ten years ago–”
“Good for him.”
“--he lived with metabolic bone disease,” I say over the doctor’s weary sigh. “So I know what it’s like to live with an illness. Which reminds me, while i have the ear of a doctor; i have this lump–”
“Stone,” Dr. Robotnik says gravely. “I’m going to unalive myself.”
For some reason this comment sends Mr. Stone into a panic. The kind young man jumps to his feet and gestures at me erratically. Perhaps the doctor is not feeling well…
“With all due respect, ma’am. Kindly shut your pie hole.”
I gasp in surprise. “Oh, you’re right! I did forget to pick up the pork pies for the WI. How embarrassing it would be if I turned up without them!”
“I want boba,” Shadow says. “It looks good.”
Mr. Stone nods. “We’ll get some on the way back to the evil lair–back home.”
What a funny little quip, they must be playing heroes and villains with their boy. How cute.
“Further down the street, the Taste of Taiwan makes good boe-bah, so my granddaughter tells me. It’s also a ‘vape dispensary’ if whatever that is, is useful to you,” I point in that direction. “If you’d like, I can show you–”
“ARFGH,” the doctor makes a strange barking noise.
“That’s okay, ma’am!” Mr. Stone quickly assures me. “We’re exploring at our own pace! You should really go and get those pies, those bags look very heavy!”
The young man directs the doctor away with a hand at his waist. What a lovely couple. Mr. Stone is right, I really should go get those pies!

Before the darkness took him
I've been thinking again (I do that a lot, huh - I start every second post like this) about Astarion's life before he was turned.
We don’t know much about it – maybe even less now than during Early Access. Back then, I’ve heard it was said he was a corrupt magistrate who was beaten to death after a ruling, or even that he was working for Cazador already. But now, in the final release, all we know is that he was a magistrate in Baldur’s Gate, and that he was attacked by the Gur, angry at one of his rulings. We don’t know what kind of man he was.
As I understand from the wonderful series of posts from @litsenn (a small promotion haha), Larian was worried his image was becoming too cruel and could scare away the players, so they decided to soften it.
So there’s not much we can say for sure – but would that stop me from wondering? Of course not.
As for the headcanon about what kind of magistrate Astarion was, I’ll just quote myself from my other post:
I imagine he was young, still figuring out who he was, watching the world around him and trying to find his place. He wasn't perfect, he made mistakes. Maybe he was careless, maybe selfish at times, but I don’t think he was cruel, not intentionally. He probably didn’t consider the consequences of his choices and decisions well. And he probably believed he had a whole life ahead. Not a saint, not evil - just human.
And what was Astarion doing in Baldur's Gate? Why did he live there?
It’s a huge, multicultural city – not surprising that an elf might live there, even though they usually keep to their own communities, away from others. Some elves do maintain contacts with humans and other races, especially the Moon Elves. And I am a strong supporter of the headcanon that Astarion is a Moon Elf, based on his hair color. I like to imagine him with blue eyes, maybe with little golden flecks inside. That’s why I love blue tones for him.
Moon Elves are often described as lighthearted, curious, and drawn to art and beauty. They seem to be more tolerant of other races, more outgoing and individualistic than most of their kin. (From Forgotten Realms wiki)
I think it sounds a lot like him. Or at least like the version of him that could’ve existed, if things had gone differently.
The Cazador's role also raises a lot of questions. Even in the game, your character may notice how convenient it was that he appeared exactly in the right place and at the right time, when Astarion was dying. It’s not hard to imagine that he already had his eyes on the young, charming elf and possibly led the Gur on him, whether Astarion was framed or became a scapegoat for a careless ruling.
Unfortunately, we have too many questions and close to no answers.
Something that bothers me is that while Astarion seems to remember some details about his previous life, he never mentions anyone left behind.
Yes, we know that many of his memories are missing after everything he had to go through. He doesn't even know who he used to be himself.
I've seen mentions that you don't always keep all your memories when turned. Another reason might be Astarion avoiding reverie, which helps you work through your memories, not to relive his dark days in the castle again (or maybe because vampires can’t enter it anymore?). Or maybe his mind has blocked out the past to protect himself.
But what struck me is how he never really mentions anyone left behind. Of course, we know that many of his memories are gone. He doesn't even know who he used to be. But when he says, "No one looked out for me, you're the only one," it hurts. Maybe he was only talking about his time as a vampire. But I can’t help but think… was there really no one before that, either? No one who missed him when he disappeared? Or did he bury those memories so deeply that all he’s ever known, all that’s left, is that twisted version of family he had in the vampire lair?
And why wasn't Astarion's family looking for him? To them, he would still have been a child – barely into adulthood by elven standards. Should they live in Baldur's Gate, in 200 years, surely they would find a trace of him that would lead to Cazador, one way or another.
So I imagine they didn’t. Maybe they lived somewhere far away.
One reason might be that Astarion was sent there as a student and then stayed working as a magistrate. Maybe as a cultural exchange, learning and gathering experience. Or maybe his family wanted to have some connections with human society, or wanted him to see the world.
Another possibility is that he left them – maybe as a rebellious teenager, going separate ways to live on his own. That would explain why there were never any mentions of them and why no one came after him.
Whatever the reason, it’s heartbreaking to think that he disappeared one night, and no one came looking. At least as far as we know.
Of course, Astarion was so young when he was turned. Maybe the centuries of slavery erased the short years of life he once had.
For two centuries, the only "family" he knew was Cazador and the other spawns – a place of cruelty, manipulation, and survival. And even among them, Astarion never formed real bonds.
To me, he always seemed emotionally distant from the others. Maybe because he couldn’t trust anyone. Maybe because Cazador wanted them to turn on each other, make sure his spawns wouldn’t unite. Or was it like in school or other forced social groups where one person is singled out (especially by a teacher or group leader), and others often follow just to stay safe? I wonder if it was like that for him. If he was seen as weak, and the others treated him accordingly – Leon calls him weak, and Petras is dismissive. And Astarion himself may not be blameless – we know how sharp his tongue can be – but it still feels like he kept himself guarded.
Of course, that place wasn’t made for connection or real bonds, but some of his siblings still seemed closer to one another. Astarion, though, always felt apart. As if he never wanted to belong.
And maybe he didn’t – why would he? That place was a nightmare. Wanting nothing to do with them might have been his way of holding on to something – his dignity, his self. But still, I can’t help wondering that maybe some of the others tried to make peace with their new life, to seek comfort in one another, to adjust. Astarion never seemed to. He struggled or refused to settle into what they were forced to become.
But then… the way Astarion responds to kindness. The way he softens when he feels safe. Even the way he never accepted the false family bonds like some of the other spawns did – it makes me hope that maybe he knew real warmth once. Maybe he was loved, and something inside him remembers. Or hopes for it. And if he didn’t… Then I’m even more glad he can have it now that he’s free and learning to heal. That he’s no longer in that darkness. And can build something genuine and real.

List of Jason Todd/Red Hood's weapons/gadgets/touys
Note: This is mostly from comics written by Winick, as I refuse to acknowledge most of n52. Feel free to add more, though!
Note2: This post was originally formatted in a different way, as I foolishly forgot about the image limit.
Blades
1— His iconic dagger!
Can cut through stone, and most of Batman's gear. It's been heavily debated what kind of knife it is; wether a kris, a parrying dagger, or a third secret thing.
2— The blades he gives Mia to defend herself!
I'm not sure what kind of blade they are, they vaguely look like wakizashis? Their size varies from panel to panel so idk😔
3— The katana for the 'duel' with Oliver!
4— And to link with the next section, the exploding katana!
Yes, it's a katana that explodes. Jason baits Oliver into holding it.
Explosives

— First of all, he blows up many many things and it's not specified what exactly he uses. So the unspecified explosives that only appear as a cool fireball panel get a bullet point.
5— The jumble of explosives in the Final Confrontation™️, we can see some dynamite, C4...
6— Bomb in a crate
7— Small bomb. Not lethal!
8— Bigger bomb. Yes lethal.
9— Continuing with this absolute icon: the bomb under the Batmobile (should I capitalize that?)
10— Small Rocket, used against Brick
11— Grenade?
12— Small, cylinder-shaped explosives. Detonated upon impact?
13— Small explosive that attaches to flat surfaces, used against Mr Freeze
14— Grenade.
15— Molotov Cocktail
16— Enough C4 to destroy a whole building, modded so it explodes if its temperature reaches one point, countering Batman's method of freezing bombs.
17— My absolute favorite, the exploding helmet!
Even if it's listed under 'explosives', it's also an important piece of technology in the Red Hood's arsenal.
Firearms

18, 19— The guns in the wall from Annual #25, there's surely more.
20— Machine guns hidden in crates!
21— Machine guns hidden in cars!
22— Rocket launcher, used against Black Mask
23— Even more hidden machine guns! This time in an electricity pole.
24— Machine gun (also hidden, but surprisingly not attached to anything)
25— Handgun👍
26— AK-47, you know the panel from where it's from
27— Submachine guns, I think 🙂
28— When out of ammo he uses his guns as blunt weapons, which I wanted to note
Tasers

29— The nazi-killing taser
30— The reason for the creation of this post! The grapple line taser! Attach it to a grapple line and it will shock whoever is connected to it. Noticed it in a reread of utrh and needed people to see it
31— Bonus: the bat-symbol taser. Iconic enough to be here.
Tech & Surveillance

32— Monitor and microphone?
33, 34— cameras :)
35— thing to see the feed of the cameras
36, 37— phones :)
38— his little tech den in #650
39, 40— computers :)
41— whatever this thing is
42— The surveillance device that looks like he taped a canon camera to his face
43— Wiretaps!
44— Bugs!
He also has his evil lair in B&R2009 bugged.
Miscellaneous

45— Does his crowbar count
46— smoke bomb!!
47— Injectable adrenaline. He just has that in his utility belt.
48— His batmobile-evade suit.
49— Is saying his belt buckle mean
50— Unspecified poison! Goodbye Egon
51— This thing that attaches to its target and launches them off
Not pictured:
The fancy wound dressing he gives onyx to patch up the shoulder wound he inflicted (I forgot to screenshot 💔)
Also, he has this whole hq-ish thing in Annual #25

(Edit: That rectangle in the gun wall kinda looks like an anti-drone gun now that I think abt it)

It has a murder board, which I think is cute.

Affectionate (Max Thunderman x GN!Reader)
Summary: Your boyfriend is known to be an evil and vile person. You can't take that seriously since he looks at you like a kicked puppy when you don't hold his hand. Pronouns: You/Yours Warnings: None Word Count: 1.0k A/N: Sorry for yapping the past few days about the structure of my account lol (serious posts instead of silly little fics). Here's an unexpected, non requested, non scheduled little post for y'all! Sorry, it's short, it's just a quick little fluffy thing as a gift. Yes, it's fluffy, my silly little gooses!
Max Thunderman was evil, untrustworthy, conniving, and mischievous to everyone he’s ever met.
Sometimes, his own family would question themselves when they call his actions some sort of “phase”, due to how far he goes. Sometimes, his own family wonders if they really raised a super villian.
Max Thunderman wanted to take over the world, and he wanted the power to be able to crush it beneath his fingertips, and make everyone suffer. The thought excited him for the future, the thought empowered him to keep going.
Max Thunderman was evil, some would go so far as to call him a monster.
You, on the other hand, couldn’t see Max Thunderman as a ‘monster’.
Why was that?
It was because the brown haired boy was currently trying to fit himself under your sweater because he didn’t feel close enough to you. A sweater you had in a smaller size, but since this was a usual occurrence, you got a bigger size so he could fit his head through the top without hurting himself or you.
Max Thunderman to you, was the sweetest boy alive who you adore with your entire heart and soul. Max Thunderman was the kindest, most thoughtful, and the cutest person you’ve ever met. Max Thunderman was your boyfriend, and you would choose him over the world.
He would choose you over the world.
The two of you were in his lair, watching some sort of movie on your laptop. You had no idea, because you were currently focused on the feeling of his fingertips grazing your sides as he adjusted himself. His head nuzzled into your chest, portions of his hair popping out the hole where your head was through, tickling your chin.
“What are you doing, Max?” You asked, putting your arms around him anyways.
He hummed, cuddling more into your chest, arms wrapping around you, causing you to lift your back so he could comfortably move them before you put your weight back down.
You shook your head, rubbing your hands in circles on his back, and he relaxed more than he already was before you began.
You felt him shuffle before getting into a comfortable enough position under your sweater to answer, “I missed you.” That was all he said before he went back to caressing your sides, absorbing your warmth.
“I’ve been here for hours.” You reminded him with a light laugh, biting your lip to stifle more laughter.
“Not good enough, this is better.” He mumbled, voice going in and out, almost as if he were going to fall asleep.
You were used to him doing things like this, and you really didn’t mind. You loved when he was this close to you, your main concern was that he would overheat. To fix that, you gently pulled him, the teen following your movements until his head was right next to yours.
Max’s eyes fluttered open to meet yours before closing once again, a small smile on his face as he leaned his head on yours.
“I love you.” He whispered to you, voice filled with drowsiness as it rumbled in your ears.
“I love you too.”
Another typical occurrence for Max Thunderman being the sweetest boy alive, was him consistently finding or making things for you.
An example of this was when you walked into his home to hang out with him, sitting in the living room to wait for him. His parents told you that he wanted you to wait out there instead of going straight to the lab because apparently that’s what he requested.
You texted him to tell him that you were there, and the moment you hit send you heard an extremely loud ‘thump’ sound from below…from his bedroom.
You then heard scrambling, light curses, and footsteps rushing up the stairs.
When Max Thunderman set his eyes on you, his entire face lit up like a Christmas tree. He looked like a little kid that finally got that present he was begging his parents for all year, like his chores finally paid off to be on the nice list.
Your boyfriend rushed to you, placing a box on the table before sitting next to you. He grinned at you, showing all his teeth, breathing heavily, his face red. You couldn’t tell if it was red because he probably fell, because he ran, or because he saw you.
You assumed it was because of you because he whispered a small ‘Hi’ to you, placing his hand on your cheek and placing his lips onto yours.
Something about Max, he loved to kiss you, he loved feeling you close to him.
He would cup your face, give you sweet kisses, and his other hand would be interlocking your fingers together.
When you pull away, his face would be red, his eyes would be sparkling, and his smile would be wider than ever. Once he remembers what he was doing, the look doesn’t change, he keeps one of his hands laced with yours and reaches for the box he placed down, handing it right to you.
You have a plethora of gifts from Max, ranging from jewelry, to letters, electronic devices he created, paper flowers, etc. You knew that whatever it was when you opened the gift, you would love it more than anything.
You knew that whatever it was, Max loved you more than anything, and he just wanted to show you.
After opening the gift, you hugged him, and gave him a few more gentle kisses to which he deepened by placing his free hand on the back of your neck, just to tell you he wanted a little more.
The two of you broke apart for air, opening your eyes to meet each other. Adoration filled both of you as you looked at one another, small laughs escaping your lips when you made eye contact for a prolonged period of time.
You leaned on the back of the couch, playing with Max’s fingers, “For someone who wants to take over the world, you’re so sweet.”
Max crinkled his nose, leaning back on the couch with you to be face to face with you. He brought your hand to his lips, placing light kisses onto your knuckles, causing tickles to shoot up your arm. “Only for you.”
Max Thunderman was not evil, conniving, vile, corrupt, or wicked.
Max Thunderman was kind, charming, loving, thoughtful, considerate, generous, and affectionate.
To you, Max Thunderman was the best there ever was, and you wouldn’t change a thing about him.
