An update on Character Design!
Currently we are at a phase in character design where I am researching mythology in relation to stars and constellations, in order to name our friendly caste of Trolls! Their names also play a part in deciding their genders, appearances, and even personalities! Many are influenced by Greek mythology, and can be easily identified as such.
I am then taking this information and compiling it into a document, that my husband will then reference to take my ideas and refine them into a number of drawn references and notes on the personalities and designs of these characters. Once these sheets of multiple character references are made, I will then decide on a final design to refine into the characters to be used in the comic!

It took me a while (about a year) but I finally got to work a little more on my library (the interior) by adding this smooth diorite desk and the very spruce wood and purple wool chair I am squatting in. I even worked a bit on the home part which is on the third floor. I have a bathroom and a bedroom for my Library guards. It looks pretty cool, doesn’t it?

“I felt the red-winged man gaze, I heard him speaking. I know who you are, he said, there are two ways this can go, no, three ways. I don’t want to count the ways, I said, I just want to finish it. I need to get to the end. His wings lifted and sanked. Oh my darling, he said, you’re a long way from the end.”

So from what I’m understanding, Dark Cacao and Golden Cheese get pain and suffering from their Beast encounters, meanwhile Pure Vanilla and Hollyberry get homosexuality (I mean pain and suffering is likely also involved but you know, it’s about the gay love)

Truly, it’s up in the air what White Lily’s gonna get. Maybe it depends on what gender Silent Salt ends up being

ancient queen + royal family wip 2 (botw2/totk rewritten) (probably the last one i will post)
felt the first concept was way too generic looking so i said to myself to go with the actual idea i had instead of trying to tone it down (extremely white in both skin and hair bc i really like designs that go hard on one color if done well and it would make for a really striking design that stands out among zeldas designs .. imo)
and then i sketched the king and little zelda as well (though obviously far from done) even if they only show up in one cutscene
some short background on them; the queen is the one in charge, her husband is of the quiet sort, he is rather soft hearted and doesnt approve much of her later path but he goes with it anyway, little zelda comes after her father and spends most time with him since the queen is very busy, unless its time to train zeldas magic, since he has no affinity to anything magical; he is also unaware of just how powerful the queen is in that regard (in the confrontation scene you get to see she and ganondorf are preparing to fight but the king doesnt realize it and jumps between them to protect her, thinking she is unaware and unarmed, with deadly consequences leading to everything escalating)
i also decided it would make the conflict even better if the queen and ganondorf had been friends in their youth and on good terms before she found the ruins of old that made her fear him to the point of obsession

Hey, so do you ever stop to think about how the premise of Lord of the Rings being an in-universe book written by some of the characters who lived through that story means that they decided what parts and perspectives to use to tell that story...?
And when our authors weren't there to experience the events themselves, they have to rely on what they're told about them by the characters who were there, right...?
Okay so stop and think about the Glittering Caves.
We never actually go to the caves in the narrative. Tolkien LOVES describing nature and natural beauty, but we don't actually see the caves described "by him" the way we do other places. Obviously Gimli's words are Tolkien's, yes; but we only see the caves filtered through his words about them, after the fact.
When Gimli and Éomer and the other Rohirrim take refuge there, the narrative doesn't follow them. Obviously from a narrative standpoint this is to keep the focus narrow, and not to interrupt the battle-sequence with a long ode to the beauty of the caves, and to create tension in the reader who doesn't know if these characters are okay or not. Which all makes sense!
But think about it in terms of the book that was written in Middle-earth by the folk living there. Why DON'T we get to have a direct experience of those caves? Gimli obviously related several other parts of the story that none of the Hobbits were there to witness to them, and which were written into the books as Direct Events Happening In The Narrative (think of the Paths of the Dead scene, for one of the more visceral moments!). So why not the Glittering Caves?
Was it because they wanted to keep that narrative focus and tension, and so they didn't include his perspective on that part of the battle? Perhaps, that's certainly a possibility to consider.
But also consider: when we do hear about the Glittering Caves, what we hear is Gimli telling Legolas about the Glittering Caves. THAT is the part of that event that is considered of importance to include in the book: not Gimli's actual experience when he was in them, but rather the part where he relates that experience TO Legolas.
And I kind of just THOUGHT about that today.
And went HUH.

I know it probably wouldn't have sold as well, but it seems like a wasted opportunity to not have had Deuce come with the Scary Sweet Birthday cake making set. Dude canonically loves to cook/bake...2 out of his 3 dolls come with aprons. And he's a part for the friend group, so it's not like he'd have been out of place.
