Snowflakes drifted from the sky, collecting in his hair. Etho sneezes as he finishes tying his ice skates. He looks up to see Bdubs already stepping out onto the frozen pond, each step filled with confidence.

Standing up, he trudges through the small snowbanks with a huff and a puff and stops right at the edge.

Bdubs gives him a toothy grin and extends a hand towards him, “C’mon baby!”

They interlock hands (admittedly not well considering the gloves in the way) and Etho cautiously takes a few steps onto the ice. He glides a little and nearly falls on his face but is stopped by a hand gripping his hip, holding him steady. He holds on tightly as Bdubs skates backwards, bringing the two closer to the middle.

He holds Etho close to him tightly, slowly spinning them around. Snow catches in his eyelashes and continues to fall all around them, blanketing them in a cold chill that creeps through his jacket.

The numbness of his fingers doesn’t even register in his mind, not when Bdubs is looking at him like that. The white atmosphere makes him look almost ethereal. It steals his breath, his lungs, his heart, his soul. The warmth provided by Bdubs’ smile is enough to keep him cozy for the rest of his life.

His mask is pulled down, revealing his face. The parts of him only a few are allowed to see, all of his secrets and insecurities on display.

This is nothing new to Bdubs, having seen this face time and time again. Etho watches the man’s pupils trace his eyebrows, his eyes, the scar running through one, his nose, his lips. There was a time he was filled with fear- the fear of scaring Bdubs away, of the scars and the emotions being all too much for him to handle, but he stayed. He stayed through ups and downs and thick and thin, always by his side.

Etho leans down and cups his cheek. They both know this dance well, all the twists and turns.

He kisses Bdubs, putting all the thoughts and words he cannot say into it. He puts the love in his heart, the gratitude, the sheer need he feels for Bdubs, trying to communicate it all with the movement of his lips.

Bdubs pulls him closer, still keeping them spinning. The two go around and around in each other’s orbit, neither wanting to let go.

The snow continues to fall around them, creating an atmosphere of love and trust and promises, of a connection that goes far deeper than any cave or ocean. The unwavering loyalty between them, as imminent as snow on a cold winter day.

ALL OF DAPHNE'S TRANSFORMATIONS. INCLUDING UPDATED NYMPHIX.

Previously Fairy of the Dragon Flame now Fairy of Embers. She doesn't have any transformations others than these because she was fast tracked into the nymphix path, and unlike the winx the majority of fairies don't pursue additional transformations past enchantix. (i think Daphne would be interested in Dreamix tho, so maybe I'll draw that eventually.

Her major color shifted after dying and being revived, which is shown in her winx and enchantix.

other lore and design notes below!

I changed her major color from orange/yellow to more of a teal/green because. she just doesn't look good in yellow I'm sorry I really tried but it wasn't working. Also little updates to her hair color, nothing huge tho. Daphne's primary motifs are a branching "Y" shape and a double oval/tear drop. She's a pants when possible girlie and a one set winger(yes her nymphix looks like it have multiple wings but they all merge into one stem on each side) . Her scars from her Sirenix being ripped out of her caused her winx/enchantix to change a little to cover them(mostly seen in the arms) due to insecurity. Her Dryadix/nymphix flower is a daffodil! because pun Daph-Daff, and Daffodils symbolize rebirth and new beginnings (also creativity, energy, resilience, forgiveness and vitality). Her Harpix wings aren't super specificly patterned, but she has darting wings common in small song and seed birds (robins, finches, brown birds etc.) the coloring is referential of a Shrike (also called a Butcher Bird), because Daphne was. incredibly dangerous and if she had sided with the ancestral probably would have been given a moniker similar to Butcher of Domino or Daphne the Slaughterer. (some people do call her these but its mostly among people who dislike Domino/The Royal Family.)

Lore! Daphne doesn't have a great sense of self, she was planned as a necessary successor to Marion/the dragon flame in a period as the ancestral witches were escalating their attacks and search for the dragon flame. Bloom was a back up baby in case both Daphne and Marion got dead and basically worked as intended haha. Daphne was also much more publicly involved in the kingdom than many of the other royals in winx (Stella, Aisha, Krystal and even Galatea to an extent all had rather sheltered upbringings) in a way Daphne is much more like Sky and Thoren in the since that none of them really had the space to develop their own personality outside of their familial duty.

Daphne's 1st winx and enchantixes are as direct a copy of her mom's Enchantix as you can get with transformations, right down to the more greenish tint of her major color. Growing up Marion used her fairy form liberally, so that, combined with being the next Dragon Flame holder left a deep impact on Daphne's subconscious. Daphne was also heavily influenced by Faragonda during her Alfea and Nymphix Quest years, but since she was older this isn't as deep an influence. After being revived, Daphne's years of defining herself as her connection to Bloom causes her major color to shift more blue in response to her trauma. Daphne is slowly starting to develop a sense of self outside of her titles/connections but it's unlikely her major color will shift again unless she has another major trauma.

(for the record the Winx do have trauma over the timeline I have laid out that would potentially cause their major colors to shift but I didn't do that for a couple reasons 1, their colors are iconic and make them easily recognizable as characters; 2, I'm a tired bitch. )

Half-lidded eyes, black hair&eyes, small eyebrows, curly hair... Dandan's skin is lighter probably because of low sun exposure (dungeon), and he has tons of freckles because he preety.

This two are clearly relatives if not siblings.

Flertom is a mirror image of the lady up there. She got Chil's eyes. She even has almost the same haircut (a bit longer). She's clearly the mother. We've solved Chilchuck's wife mystery.

But this wasn't what I was going to say.

This implies that Wife and Dandan both knew Chilchuck since their childhood. Because there's no way that Chil was just friend of the sister. They're both close to the same age, and I'll say Dandan is a Younger sibiling (she gives big sis vibes, and he gives young bro vibes). So either she introduced him to her brother or he introduced him to his sister and they became best friends as kids.

Could you imagine how their relationship was after Chil's Wife left him?

He knows he has to say something, but he doesn't want to end his relationships. At the end he takes his sister's side. He distances a bit from Chilchuck, calling him an "aquitance" rather than a friend. It isn't that he hates him, is just that it's complicated. And they both know it. They're in good terms tho, they just aren't best friends anymore and they don't talk about it. Their worry is the guild, not their personal stuff.

That's why Dandan introduces Chilchuck to Laios. If they were in bad terms, he would've suggested any other half-foot. They both priorize the guild and general safety of their own race. That's why Dandan suggests Chil instead of a less experienced hafling. He cares about the union and respects Chil's time and experience in dungeons. They're on good terms, at least good enough. Summing up, I get the feeling Dandan doesn't particularly likes Chil after what happened with his sister, but he respects him at least.

still on my first watch through so i am not yet a full-fledged true detective Understander™, but i love how they show us how rust and marty have become enmeshed in ways that, even after a decade of separation, they can't undo. like, episode 1 (1995) marty would never have said the sentence "father time has his way with us all," that's some odd shit, right there. But 2012 marty finds that to be a reasonable response to rust telling him he "look(s) like (he's) doing all right." and rust just, he still trusts marty to have his back, after a decade of silence, he tells him what he's kept his trap shut about in that interview, gives him the pitch on the cover-up. he tells him shit that, if marty told to the cops, would almost certainly land him a guilty sentence. without a second thought. he doesn't know if marty will help him, but he knows marty won't hurt him. anyway.

How do you think Astarion and Remmick would react to meeting each other??

They would get along like oil and water.

Remmick and Astarion represent completely different things with their vampirism.

Remmick is, in a lot of ways, like Cazador even if he isn't as overtly abusive

He has a hive link to his "family" and ultimately controls what they do the same way Cazador strives to exert control over his "children"

Astarion's whole journey is finding his own free will and escaping Cazador's abuse and control over his mind and body

Astarion would take one look at Remmick and his pleas for "family" and have his hackles up, hissing like an angry cat

Remmick meanwhile would see Astarion as another lost soul

Maybe he can't control him like others he's turned, but he's desperate enough for connection that he'll take what he can get

That being said, since Astarion isn't a part of the hive mind and does not have the potential to be, I can see Remmick just deciding to kill Astarion if he proved to be too much trouble

And even if we look past all of that, the things that make them alike are also the things that would rub, at least Astarion, the wrong way

Remmick is, let's face it, a very messy eater and while Astarion can relish in the blood, I can see him turning his nose up at Remmick's habits

Astarion also puts on this air of swagger and confidence that he does not feel inside

Meanwhile Remmick is an absolute freak loser, but doesn't seem to think of himself as that at all bringing his own kind of charisma that directly opposes Astarion's

I can see it more as a one sided dislike from Astarion's side while Remmick thinks he can maybe get Astarion to see his way of things, and if he can't, well, he's be around long enough that dealing with another vampire nearly a millennial younger than him shouldn't be an issue

Second, when they want to kill each other. This reminder isn't so nice as it's one that says "yeah we're not on a team now are we?" and said in a way to trick the other into letting their guard down, if only for a moment, so that they can kill the other person. It's menacing and taunting and devoid of any genuine kindness.

I love both ways equally.

I am not a nie brothers scholar nor a jgy scholar so idk how to properly put these thoughts together, but I think it's unfair to act like nie huaisang would've tried to break up nieyao. what makes the tragedy and betrayal so delicious is that meng yao was his friend. in cql, he's visibly really worried about him and is pacing outside while nmj decides to kick him out. in the novels, jgy was constantly showering nhs with gifts tailored to his interests. nie huaisang liked him and trusted him, and that ultimately makes what happens later far more interesting than if he had hated him the whole time
