Rain tosses his phone on his bed spread and stretches. He’s already in swim trunks so he just meanders to the common room. He knows Aurora’s going to get distracted and need more like fifteen minutes but he doesn’t mind. In the meantime he flops on the couch to watch the nature documentary Phantom and Cumulus are watching together.

Sure enough, Aurora takes about twenty minutes and shows up apologetic and out of breath but Rain just smiles.

“We’ve got plenty of time.”

They head out to the lake, Aurora yapping the whole way. At the odd times she pauses to breathe, Rain adds a comment or question of his own and she’s off again on a third side tangent. Rain loves it about her though; could listen to her talk all day. Has on many occasions.

Only once they reach the water does she settle a little. She pulls off her coverup as Rain dives off the pier. She cannonballs in after him shortly to join him in sitting on the little rocky outcropping under the deck. Her gills, usually glamoured away, come out to play and faint bioluminescent markings come to life as well. She doesn’t have as many as Rain, the multi ghoulette taking after freshwater ghouls more so than deep sea ghouls like her swimming partner, but they’re still beautiful, pulsing softly in the shade of the overhanging pier.

Rather than continuing to yap, just in aquatic infernal; now she breathes in the quiet of the scenery. She snuggles up to Rain’s side and he puts his arm around her. They just watch the underwater foliage sway and the fish dart around in the streams of sunlight that break the surface of the water.

Later they’ll race each other around the lake, using rock formations and kelp fronds and an obstacle course. Rain will teach Aurora more about the saltwater dialect of aquatic infernal and she’ll soak it all up like a sponge. They’ll pay the giant squid a visit too, with an offering of fish of course.

But for now they just sit. Let the gentle current wash away the noise and chaos of the surface. Arms and tails wrapped around each other so they don’t float away. And Aurora loves this part. Watching Rain’s features relax into the utmost bliss. How he says so much without saying a word. The way he runs his fingers through her floating hair and how his tail squeezes hers just to make sure she’s still there. How he nuzzles her neck, his sensitive nose filling with the scent of her.

Aurora never takes it for granted that she gets to see the shy water ghoul in his element. How he glows, quite literally down here. It’s a sight she’ll never hesitate to take in for as long as she can.

Mushy May Day 13: Matching Outfits - Rain/Aurora

    Aurora and Rain could almost be considered the same Ghoul but in separate bodies. They both had the same sassy demeanour that earned their nickname of Princess, they both hated waking up early, often had the same rankings for who they liked to couple up with, and loved the same music too. Their fashion senses also sometimes aligned and it made way for certain co-ordinations. Some intentional, some not.

    Today was rather intentional though, as they had the common goal of stirring up trouble with their paramours. For Aurora, this was Sunshine, and for Rain it was Mountain. The Earth Ghoul and the taller Multi had recently spent a little too much time with each other, and not them for these two Princesses’ tastes.

    They schemed all night, looking for outfits that would work perfectly together and ended up pulling the exact same thing but in their own signature colours – Aurora in pink, and Rain in blue.

    The next morning, they strutted out into the den for breakfast wearing their loose knitted jumpers, short black skirts, and to top it all off black thigh-high boots. Aurora was wearing a pink heart necklace with sunflower earrings and Rain had a silver chain and the ring that Mountain carved for him from his own antler shed.

    They both busied themselves with morning teas and bowls of cereal as they waited, tails flicking in anticipation.

    When they heard a specific door click open and shut, they gave each other the same conspiratorial smile and finished up their food. They gave Mountain and Sunshine the briefest look of their clothing as they linked arms, giving sickly sweet smiles and batting their lashes at the two as they left the den.

    They had nowhere in particular to go, it was just the easiest plan so they could drag this out for a while.

    The two were partway to the library by the time they burst out laughing in synchrony.

    “Oh, their faces!” Aurora said.

    “It was priceless. Reckon their jaws are still on the floor?” Rain grinned.

    “Definitely! They’re going to need to mop up all that drool too.” The Multi giggled.

    “As if either of us mind a little wet zone.” Rain winked and they both burst out laughing again.

    They ended up sitting in the library for the morning, a little seating area way in the back that was usually left empty. They wondered if either of the two were thinking of trying to find them, if Mountain would go as far as tracking them like they were prey.

    “Like a hunt? Oh, honey, I’m not running in these boots. We both know how much they cost.” Aurora said as she extended her leg, the patent leather reflecting the sun light outside.

    “I know! But you can’t say it wouldn't be funny to see them both running through the halls on all fours, sniffing the ground and everything just to find us in these outfits.” Rain defended.

    Aurora chuckled. “Okay, that’s a good mental image, I’ll give you that.”

    “Exactly.” Rain nodded, happy with the concession.

    They sat close to the front of the cafeteria at lunch time, making sure to choose a busy table that Mountain and Sunshine wouldn’t be able to join them at but would plainly be able to see them, along with the rest of the Ministry too. The desire and jealousy in both their eyes when they saw Rain and Aurora was almost as obvious as the way they both had to adjust their jeans.

    Rain and Aurora high-fived before going to loiter elsewhere for the afternoon.

    They spent some time on the lawn to the Ministry, the clear skies and comfortable temperature making it so they could be in the eyeline of their two targets - working in the greenhouse - while keeping in their matching outfits that they knew would be driving the two absolutely mad.

    By the time they finally came back to the den, Mountain and Sunshine waiting for them on the leather sofas, it would also come to light that they co-ordinated everything. Even down to both of them being completely commando.

Rushed ghost fanart because I NEEDED to get something out to celebrate rite here rite now (btw saw the movie it was incredible I loved it it was soooooo so sososososo silly)

They're done! I really want to try and make prints again as it's been years and I've never felt like I was very good at making whole posters. Dipping my toe back in with these silly chibis of each Papa with every Ghoul they've had. Perhaps they can also work as a guide for those wanting to learn all the characters? I added in a fair amount of little references with the Ghoul's poses so it'll be interesting to see what you guys figure out and notice!

The prints are on pre-order and won't ship out until November. I've put up 25 of each to start with but if they get low on stock I'll keep adding more until I have them printed and then it'll be a set amount in stock.

Also a reminder about the stickers of every Ghost Papa and Ghoul that I made earlier this year that are also available as customisable badges! Thank you so much to everyone who already bought them and got Etsy to list them as a 'bestseller' for a while. They're still up and in stock.

Omega can be a stompy boy when he's playing guitar, Alpha likes to throw up peace signs, Air is very found of the rock horns hand symbol, there's one close-up photo of Lake out there where you can clearly see his black sclera contacts and he's doing double 'horns' hand symbol, Mountain infamously takes his shoes off when playing the drums and leaves them on the stage at the site of his drumkit, Dewdrop likes to like.. most things including his guitar and his picks and sometimes his own hand, Pebble liked to hand out his drumsticks at the end of shows by dropkicking them into the crowd, Omega wore a flower tucked into his guitar strap during one show and Terzo constantly flirts with him more than other ghouls, Delta is suspected to be the ghoul that attempted to kick an audience member off stage when they climbed onstage and attempted to kiss Terzo, Zephyr was the only band member and only keyboardist who sat down while playing, the special ghoul played by Tobias wore a nametag 'Phil' in an interview, Swiss constantly is showing all his teethies with his smiles and always wiggling and moving around, Aether and Dewdrop often interact with Dew teasing/bothering Aether, Dew and Rain also often interact with Dew constantly reaching to grab his neck and attempt to kiss him, aaaand I think that's everything I intentionally included other than just generally tried to get the poses and expressions to match the personality we've seen from each ghoul.

Things I witnessed at the Glasgow Ghost Ritual (16th of April 2025)-

Rain and Dew kissed behind Mountain's drums during Mary on a Cross. Just a quick peck on the lips, but STILL.

Dew did his usual 'screaming guitar' thing, Rain walked up to him and turned his guitar off. Dew then reached out to grab the neck of Rain's bass, ended up slicing his finger open, and then tried to wipe his bloody finger all over Rain's bass.

Aurora now plays the keyboards and sings! She has taken Cumulus' podium, has two synths, a tambourine, and three mics.

New ghoulette is on Aurora's old podium, she sings and plays tambourine.

Rain refused to move for Perpetua. Perpetua kept motioning to him to move out of the way during Year Zero and Rain just stood in place and shook his head firmly until Perpetua had to go around him.

THE INFLATABLE CATHEDRAL BACKGROUND FELL DOWN. THIS WAS NOT PLANNED. A curtain was pulled away to reveal the cathedral background (the same one from previous tours), but the curtain got caught on the background and pulled it down straight away. It nearly hit Aurora, and Swiss had to jump out of the way so that it didn't hit him.

During one of the new songs, Papa pops out of a trap door in the stage with a cowbell held up in the air and runs across the stage to give Swiss the cowbell. Swiss plays the cowbell for the entirety of the song.

During Majesty, Papa floats about 20 feet above the stage and stays there for the whole song. He doesn't move, apart from his hands motioning as he sings. He has a headset microphone on, instead of holding a mic in his hands, because he has huge metal gauntlets on.

They play four songs from the new album! Two of them being Satanized and Lachryma, and two of them being yet unreleased. The crowd sang Satanized as loud as they did Square Hammer, which is a setlist classic.
