"𝖆𝖓𝖉 𝖓𝖔𝖜 𝖙𝖍𝖆𝖙 𝖞𝖔𝖚 𝖉𝖔𝖓'𝖙 𝖍𝖆𝖛𝖊 𝖙𝖔 𝖇𝖊 𝖕𝖊𝖗𝖋𝖊𝖈𝖙, 𝖞𝖔𝖚 𝖈𝖆𝖓 𝖇𝖊 𝖌𝖔𝖔𝖉."

˗ˏˋ Florence Lupin, the younger sister of Remus Lupin, is as much a contrast to her brother as she is a reflection of him. Growing up in the shadow of her brilliant, kind-hearted older sibling, Florence found her identity in rebellion. While Remus was all restraint and responsibility, Florence was chaos and conviction, embracing the parts of herself that refused to conform.
Sorted into Slytherin, Florence quickly earned a reputation as the black sheep of her family, but not in the way most assumed. Her Slytherin ambition wasn’t rooted in cunning schemes—it was her sheer determination to live authentically. She wasn’t evil, nor particularly cruel, but she wore her attitude like armor, shielding herself from a world that had already scarred her brother with its judgment. Florence had no time for pity or pretense; she was unapologetically herself, loud and stubborn, but fiercely loyal to those she let into her circle.
Florence’s Hogwarts days were a mix of mischief and music. She spent most of her free time in the Room of Requirement, transforming it into a makeshift studio where she could plug in her guitar and let the world melt away. Her love for music became her escape, her protest against the wizarding world's rigid traditions. She collected vinyl records like treasure, often sneaking away to Muggle London on weekends to dig through record shops in search of hidden gems.
Her style reflected her personality—ripped jeans with sassy embroidery, scuffed boots that had seen countless adventures, and thrifted tees with bold slogans. She was the girl with chipped black nail polish, Converse shoes that had stories to tell, and a disdain for authority, especially when it came from pompous Gryffindors who couldn’t look past her Slytherin crest.
Though she clashed with Remus’s Marauder friends, there was an unspoken truce between them, mostly thanks to Remus’s patient mediation. Florence had a respect for Sirius Black—perhaps because she saw a bit of herself in his rebellious streak—and a complicated friendship with James Potter, whose charm annoyed her as much as it intrigued her.
But beneath her sharp edges, Florence had a softer side. She was the one who’d stay up all night with a friend who needed her, scribble poems in the margins of her textbooks, and fiercely protect anyone who was treated unfairly. Her bond with Remus was unshakable, even if their personalities couldn’t be more different. He grounded her, and she reminded him to loosen up and let go of the guilt that weighed him down. ˎˊ˗
──────────── · · ─ ·𖥸· ─ · · ────────────

˗ˏˋ Florence Lupin met Regulus Black in the most unexpected of ways: through Sirius Black, her older brother Remus’s boyfriend and Florence’s closest friend at Hogwarts. Florence and Sirius had clicked immediately, bonding over their shared love of rebellion, sarcasm, and a flair for chaos. When Sirius introduced her to his younger brother during a winter break at Grimmauld Place, the connection was anything but instant.
At first, Florence found Regulus too cold, too stiff, and entirely too proper—everything Sirius wasn’t. Regulus, in turn, thought Florence was reckless and obnoxious, her sarcastic quips and casual defiance grating against his carefully constructed facade of control. They tolerated each other only because Sirius insisted they’d “get along eventually,” but the room always felt tense when the two of them were in it.
It wasn’t until Florence caught Regulus alone one night—hidden in a corner of Grimmauld Place’s vast library, his nose buried in an ancient tome—that she saw something beyond his aloof exterior. He wasn’t the self-important pure-blood heir she assumed he was; he was just a boy with the weight of the Black name crushing him, trying desperately to live up to impossible expectations. Against her better judgment, Florence teased him, and to her surprise, he fired back with a sharp wit she hadn’t expected. It was the first crack in the wall between them.
From that moment on, their relationship began to shift. Regulus started sneaking into the Room of Requirement during Florence’s jam sessions at Hogwarts, drawn to her music despite himself. Florence, in turn, found herself drawn to his quiet intellect and the way his carefully chosen words carried weight. He was different from the loud, boisterous energy of her usual crowd, and that difference intrigued her.
Their dynamic was a constant push and pull. Florence loved to challenge Regulus, dragging him out of his comfort zone with spontaneous trips to Muggle London or late-night adventures sneaking into the Restricted Section of the library. Regulus, for his part, grounded her, offering a quiet stability she didn’t know she needed. He’d sit with her for hours, listening to her rant about the world’s injustices or helping her fine-tune her lyrics, his calm presence a soothing counterpoint to her fiery energy.
Despite their growing closeness, their relationship wasn’t without its obstacles. Regulus struggled to reconcile his feelings for Florence with the expectations of his family, while Florence hated the secrecy that came with being involved with a Black. They fought often, their arguments intense but never cruel, and somehow always found their way back to each other.
Sirius, of course, had a field day when he found out about their relationship. “So this is why you’ve been so quiet, Reggie,” he teased endlessly, much to Regulus’s mortification. But Sirius also became their biggest supporter, even if his encouragement often came in the form of sarcastic comments and exaggerated winks.
Through it all, Florence and Regulus found something neither of them expected: a sense of belonging. Florence taught Regulus to loosen up and embrace the parts of himself he’d kept locked away, while Regulus showed Florence that vulnerability wasn’t a weakness. Together, they were messy and complicated, but they were also real—two people who found a sense of freedom in each other amidst the chaos of their world.
──────────── · · ─ ·𖥸· ─ · · ────────────

˗ˏˋ James Potter and Florence Lupin were like oil and water—always clashing, always sparking, but somehow always in each other’s orbit. They met through Remus, of course, because James was rarely anywhere other than by Remus’s side during their Hogwarts years. From the very first interaction, James seemed to make it his personal mission to annoy the hell out of Florence every chance he got.
“Florence, did you wake up and choose violence today, or is it just your personality?” he’d ask with that infuriatingly charming grin, dodging the nearest object she hurled at him. She could never figure out why he targeted her with endless teasing, but one thing was clear: James Potter lived to get under her skin.
Florence found James insufferable. His cocky swagger, constant need for attention, and the way he seemed to think he could charm his way through life drove her mad. She’d roll her eyes every time he called her “Lupinette,” a nickname he insisted was “endearing,” and mutter insults under her breath when he’d try to rope her into one of his schemes. “Why don’t you go prank someone else, Potter?” she’d snap, to which he’d reply with a smirk, “Where’s the fun in that?”
But for all their bickering, James was also impossible to avoid. Whether it was because of his endless loyalty to Remus or his determination to drag Florence out of whatever dark mood she’d gotten herself into, James always found his way to her side. She couldn’t understand why he bothered, but there was a strange, grudging comfort in his constant presence.
And as much as Florence hated to admit it, James wasn’t all bad. He had a way of making her laugh at the worst moments, even when she was desperately trying to stay mad at him. He’d pull her out of her head when she was overthinking and drag her into adventures she didn’t want to go on—but secretly enjoyed. Once, after a particularly rough day, he showed up outside the Slytherin common room with a stolen bottle of Butterbeer and his invisibility cloak, declaring, “You look like you need to break a few rules.”
Despite their constant banter, Florence started to see the depth beneath James’s cocky exterior. He was fiercely loyal, endlessly brave, and cared more than he ever let on. And James, for his part, found himself inexplicably drawn to Florence’s sharp wit and fiery spirit. She was one of the few people who didn’t fall for his charm, who challenged him in ways no one else did.
Their relationship became a strange sort of friendship—a mix of bickering, begrudging respect, and moments of unexpected connection. James would never admit it, but he looked out for Florence like she was one of his own, and Florence, despite her protests, found herself trusting him more than she wanted to.
“Don’t tell anyone I said this,” she muttered one night after a shared Butterbeer and a surprisingly heartfelt conversation, “but you’re not the worst, Potter.”
James’s grin was wide and teasing, but his voice was soft when he replied, “Coming from you, Lupinette, that’s practically a declaration of love.” She threw a pillow at his face, but there was a hint of a smile on her lips. ˎˊ˗
──────────── · · ─ ·𖥸· ─ · · ────────────

˗ˏˋ Regulus Black and James Potter’s relationship was as complicated as it was unexpected. On the surface, the two were polar opposites: James, all loud laughter and reckless courage, and Regulus, quiet intensity wrapped in icy restraint. They seemed destined to clash, and for most of their time at Hogwarts, that’s exactly what they did.
James viewed Regulus as little more than an extension of the Black family name—a Slytherin pure-blood who was too serious, too rigid, and far too invested in living up to his family’s toxic legacy. Regulus, in turn, saw James as everything he despised about Gryffindors: brash, self-righteous, and entirely too careless with his privilege. Their interactions, when they happened, were brief and sharp, often ending in James rolling his eyes and Regulus stalking off in a swirl of his perfectly pressed robes.
But things began to change the summer after Regulus graduated, when Sirius dragged James to a Muggle record shop in London. James was halfway through teasing Sirius about his questionable music taste when he saw a familiar figure bent over a shelf of vinyls. It took him a moment to recognize Regulus Black, dressed in a plain black sweater and looking utterly out of place yet surprisingly...normal. No robes, no family name hanging over his head, just a young man browsing records.
James couldn’t resist making a comment. “Didn’t peg you for the vinyl type, Black,” he said with a smirk, expecting the usual cold dismissal. But Regulus, caught off guard, simply looked at him, then at the record in his hand, and muttered, “There’s a lot you don’t know about me, Potter.” And for the first time, James saw something human in Regulus—a vulnerability that had been buried beneath years of Black family expectations.
From that point on, James started seeing Regulus differently. They ran into each other more often—through Sirius, through mutual friends, and sometimes by sheer coincidence. At first, their conversations were laced with sarcasm and subtle jabs, but over time, they began to drop their defenses. James learned that Regulus had a dry wit that rivaled his own, and Regulus discovered that James’s charm wasn’t as shallow as he’d once thought.
Regulus’s quiet intellect intrigued James, while James’s easy confidence challenged everything Regulus thought he knew about Gryffindors. They pushed each other in ways no one else did—James dragging Regulus into spontaneous adventures, and Regulus forcing James to think before he acted (though not always successfully). Their dynamic was a delicate balance of fire and ice, with moments of surprising warmth.
Sirius, of course, hated it at first. “You’re fraternizing with him now?” he’d complain, only half-joking. But even he had to admit that James brought out a side of Regulus he hadn’t seen in years—a lighter, freer version of his brother. And for all his protests, Sirius secretly hoped that James could be the one to finally pull Regulus out of the shadows of their family name.
In time, James and Regulus developed an unspoken understanding. They weren’t best friends, nor did they always agree, but they became something deeper: equals. James respected Regulus’s quiet strength, and Regulus, in turn, found himself trusting James in a way he never thought possible. Their bond was unexpected and imperfect, but it was real—built on the pieces of themselves they hadn’t shared with anyone else. ˎˊ˗
──────────── · · ─ ·𖥸· ─ · · ────────────

˗ˏˋ Florence Lupin and Regulus Black’s relationship began with friction and intrigue. Florence found Regulus far too serious and reserved, while Regulus dismissed her as impulsive and obnoxious. But as time passed, their sharp edges softened into curiosity. Florence’s fire melted some of Regulus’s icy exterior, and his quiet depth pulled her in. They grew closer, spending late nights together—she’d strum her guitar while he read beside her, sometimes offering insight into her lyrics or quietly sharing his thoughts about the burdens of being a Black. Their relationship became a secret sanctuary, a rare place where they could both be vulnerable.
When they began dating, Florence saw sides of Regulus that no one else did—the boy who loved the ocean and the stars, who spoke with passion about things he rarely let himself feel. She challenged him to loosen up, dragging him on spontaneous adventures, and he steadied her fiery impulsiveness with his calm presence. Despite their differences, they fit like two puzzle pieces, each making the other feel whole in ways they hadn’t expected.
Then, there was James Potter.
James had been Florence’s unofficial tormentor since they met through her brother Remus. His relentless teasing and endless energy clashed with her snark and defiance, leading to years of bickering that bordered on playful rivalry. Regulus, who had long considered James insufferable, couldn’t understand why Florence tolerated his constant antics. Yet, something about James’s unwavering loyalty and charm began to wear down even Regulus’s initial hostility.
As Regulus and Florence’s relationship deepened, so did their strange, growing bond with James. He was always around—whether dragging Florence into some ridiculous scheme or refusing to leave Regulus alone until he joined in on a late-night Quidditch match. James’s determination to break through Regulus’s icy exterior wasn’t just for Sirius’s sake anymore—it was personal. Regulus, despite himself, began to let James in.
The turning point came during a particularly stormy night at Grimmauld Place. James had shown up uninvited—soaking wet and dragging a bottle of Firewhisky—and somehow convinced Florence and Regulus to join him in the dusty attic. They spent hours talking, laughing, and arguing, breaking down walls that had stood between them for years. Florence, sprawled across a worn armchair, watched as James teased a rare, genuine laugh out of Regulus, and something shifted in her chest. She realized that, much as she hated to admit it, James wasn’t just a nuisance—he was someone who made them both better.
It wasn’t easy navigating their feelings after that night. Florence was fiercely protective of Regulus, worried James’s wild energy would be too much for him, while James couldn’t quite figure out why he cared so deeply about making Regulus smile. And Regulus, caught between two people who saw him in ways no one else did, struggled to reconcile his feelings with his own insecurities.
Eventually, the three of them fell into an unconventional but undeniable rhythm. Florence and Regulus’s relationship remained the foundation, but James became an integral part of their world—a source of light and chaos that balanced their intensity. The bond between Regulus and James deepened into something that defied labels, a mix of rivalry, friendship, and something softer.
Their relationship wasn’t traditional or easy, but it worked. Together, they created a space where they could be messy, complicated, and real—three people who found freedom in each other amidst the chaos of their lives. ˎˊ˗

alright redoing a post i did awhile ago about changes i’ve made to the harry potter series in my home reality :
— the author. j.k. rowling doesn’t exist in my home reality so ofc the author is different. she’s actually a french woman named amélie dupont and she’s an absolute gem. she loves seeing all the headcanons people come up with.
— lily is canonically lesbian. nothing against jily but i just can’t see lily as anything but a lesbian. it’s stuck in my mind so..
— harry is still james & lily’s child but he’s an ivf baby. nothing romantic or sexual happened between james & lily, they were simply good friends who both wanted a child even though it was in the middle of war.
— dumbledore is confirmed a hidden villain 🙂
— regulus & evan were confirmed to not be blood supremacists. they both took the mark to protect their siblings (sirius & pandora).
— harry’s scar is described to look like actual lightning. it starts at his forehead and goes down to just below his right eye. he’s also canonically blind in his right eye because of it.
— mary is dean’s mother. idk, randomly saw this hc one day and absolutely loved the idea of it. so i’ve scripted it’s canon 🤷♀️
— tempted to script that my marauders reality self is canon in the books because why not?? if i did this, harry would have 3 parents so isn’t that cool??
— james was canonically a professional quidditch player after hogwarts because i fucking hate the auror headcanon 🥰
and fandom changes :
— there’s no “most popular” ship & no ship wars. all ships are treated equally and everyone abides by “don’t like, don’t interact” instead of actively hating on things.
— wolfstar is less popular bc i’m sorry but the toxic fans have fucking ruined it for me 😕
— the fic “all the young dudes” doesn’t exist bc i’m tired of people acting like it’s fucking canon. also apparently it’s just problematic?? 🤨
— snape is far less liked. i’m never getting over how he treated neville or how he called lily a literal slur?? absolutely fucking not. not my gorgeous queen.
— remadora gets the love it fucking deserves.
— no fanfic is ever treated like it’s more canon than the books. they’re treated like what they fucking are, fanfics.
— all headcanons are respected.
— everyone in both the marauders & potterheads fandom is kind, respectful and welcoming. bc i want to be able to enjoy a fandom for once without it being ruined by toxic as fuck people. i’m not even active in the fandom in this reality :/
there’s more but that’s the main stuff for now 😙

carina hello lovely, again a HUGE congratulations on your 2k, i'm so so proud ahfhkkh truly your writing deserves thousands upon thousands more, and i personally can't wait to see those milestones reached, I appreciate you sm and TY for doing this event <333
i'm here to actually request an interpretation if that's alright, school's been so stressful atm, but this event sounds so fun, i just had to jump on the train, i'd absolutely adore your take :D
i'm an infj. i'm an introverted person in general, also tend to be a bit anxious (socially and in general), i'm a bit reserved, and in a big group of people I rarely say much. however around my loved ones, my friends especially, I talk a concerning amount, and genuinely forget i'm in public (like nurse she is out again 😭), but even in my friendships, i'm more so a listener, sorta got the 'therapist friend' badge. a lot of my time is devoted to studying (ikr whatta nerd 🥱). i love to read and write, there's also playing the piano- I love trying to compose by myself (emphasis on trying)-, art (sketching, painting, fashion design all that chaos), biggg on music and multilingual (4 languages, and struggling with Greek atm) . love language is quality time, a sprinkle of physical touch and acts of service <3
right now, my favorite song is 'letter to hermione' by david bowie and/or bite the hand by boygenius (love them oml) <3
i hope i didn't yap tm, and that this was descriptive enough 😭💕, thank you for taking the time for this, love you lots carina <3 !!!
ahhhhh kayla so lovely to see you in my inbox!! you're honestly such a bright person, both in terms of intellect and in the sense that you light up everyone around you<33 you're so so supportive and kind, i don't deserve you 🫂🤍 big hugs and lots of love to you my darling, thank you for participating and being such a sweet gem! best of luck with all your coursework<3
✶・•・✦・•・✶・✶・•・✦・•・✶
i will INTERPRET for kayla-and-the-moon
carina's 2k celebration

while i think you could work with many characters, i see you fitting most seamlessly in with poly!bartylus!
you have that unique dynamic within yourself that regulus and barty thrive on – some reservedness while occasionally being unhinged. i think you are the most similar to regulus, but in a way he appreciates. regulus is the type who might struggle when being confronted with himself in the reflection of someone else, but your specific similarities are the ones he would find comfort and security with instead. he is also the type who sits and listens in most larger groups, and i believe he would gravitate towards you, so you could observe together, perhaps while holding hands. your devotion to your studies and to reading is one he shares and that would allow for exceptional and frequent quality time together. though, when you're both the "listener" friends, you would be able to challenge the other to be the speaker for once and grow more comfortable in your relationships together. whereas barty, he enjoys someone with a big personality hidden beneath the surface because then he gets to be the one to bring it out. poke the right buttons, create the right environment and suddenly his sweet girlfriend is laughing loudly and ranting on about something – precisely his goal. while he would most certainly bully you and regulus for being "swots", that is also part of what he is attracted to. he needs a partner who can think for themselves, who can challenge him intellectually with more than just common banter. i feel like you three could bring out the best in each other and enjoy the journey together 🤍 also regulus loves boygenius

Antares (Heart of the Scorpion in Scorpio) represents passion, transformation, and intensity.
Sirius (Dog Star in Canis Major) brings themes of honor, ambition, and spiritual insight.
The position of these stars in your natal chart, especially when closely aligned with significant planets or points like the Ascendant or Midheaven, can enhance or modify their influences.

My Opinions on Project Sekai commissions (part 1)
I fully expect to be crucified for my terrible opinions /lh All characters' focus songs, ranked (imto) Ichika 1. Pulse of the Meteor 2. Connecting the Stars (it was a tough choice between those two) 3. Made to Order (I don't hate slow songs as much as some, but I like the top two more) 4. the WALL (this song just doesn't stick out to me) Saki 1. SHOW OFF (it's so catchy!) 2. Stella 3. From Tokyo (I don't listen to it often) 4. Aioi (this song does nothing to me) Honami 1. Stage of Sekai 2. Regulus 3. Awaiting Clear Skies 4. Flyway (this is to me what Awaiting Clear Skies is to most fans, I just like the other three better) Shiho 1. Peaky Peaky (so catchy!) 2. Voices 3. purpose 4. [1] (doesn't really do anything for me) Minori 1. Worldwide Wander 2. Angel's Clover (I like the melody) 3. Teammate 4. Dream Place (got stuck in my head, but upon relistening I like the others more) 5. Jumpin' Over (dead last simply for robbing Haruka of a fourth focus /hj) Haruka 1. Love Material (might not be the best but it's catchy) 2. Float Planner (see above) 3. If (I forget this song exists) Airi 1. Ice Drop 2. Parasol Cider (just catchy, that's it) 3. Peachy Key (really like it, was hard to decide if it or Parasol Cider was better) 4. More! Jump! More! (probably overshadowed by Cutting-Edge Idols, and seems more like a group song than an Airi song) Shizuku 1. Color of Drops 2. I Am, We Are (refuse to shorten the same) 3. Hug (everyone loves this for being a MIMI song and I see why. Or hear, I guess) 4. Metamo Reborn (one of then had to be last) Kohane 1. One Sheep (was anyone surprised?) 2. Flyer 3. Beat Eater (these two were close) 4. Realize (just doesn't stand out to me) An 1. Gekokujou (was anyone surprised? part two. This song actually helped me process my own anger stage of grief) 2. Forward (I like this song more than most) 3. Awake Now 4. City (this and Awake Now were a toss up) Akito 1. Moonlight (too catchy to not be first) 2. Suspended Animation (this one has grown on me, though I ignored it at first) 3. CRaZY (I love it! I just love the first two more!) 4. Cinema (doesn't stand out) Toya 1. Hollow 2. Mirai (this is the opinion I expect to be crucified for. Not putting Mirai last. Even I'll admit the vocals are a bit strained but the song stuck with me.) 3. Rad Dogs (nothing I say can justify to the fandom why I like this less than Mirai so I'll say no more) Tsukasa 1. 88 (this song is too short but I love it so much that it's still number one) 2. Mr. Showtime (a very close second, mind you) 3. Tondemo-Wonderz (I just prefer the darker Tsukasa songs) 4. Filament Fever Emu 1. Once Upon a Dream 2. Theme of Niccori Survey Team (Emu's chaos is hit-or-miss for me. This is a hit.) 3. Starry Sky Orchestra (the name makes me compare it too much to Starry Sky Melody, which I love) 4. Shining Sparkling (Emu's chaos is hit-or-miss for me. This is a miss.) Nene 1. Starry Sky Melody (got stuck in my head and the rest is history) 2. Miniature Garden Coral (a hidden gem, like coral in the sand) 3. Glory Steady Go (like the others more) 4. Nijiiro Stories (I don't think I dislike it because it's not full-unit. Cellphone Love Story proved that can be done well. Though maybe only because Cellphone doesn't feel like a comm) Rui 1. What Sort of Ending Are You Wishing For? 2. Cyberpunk Dead Boy (this almost usurped What Sort of Ending. Almost) 3. Becoming Potatoes (normally I like dark songs from my wonder show boys. This is the exception) 4. Showtime Ruler (I like all Rui comms but one had to be last) Kanade 1. Samsa (is anyone surprised? part three) 2. Kanadetomosusora (helped me process my own grief) 3. Tricologe 4. Passion at 25:00 (too new to have really stuck out to me) Mafuyu 1. Reborn (I will forever be a slow song defender) 2. Jackpot Sad Girl 3. Bug (they are very close!) 4. Theater (I just haven't listened to it enough. All Mafuyu comms are good) Ena 1. Nomad (I love the melody) 2. Close to Gray 3. It is I (is this a good translation? I like it better than the official one.)
Mizuki 1. IDSMILE (too iconic to not be first) 2. Give Me Your Night (underrated in my opinion 3. Kitty (too me a while to get into it because, get this, I couldn't figure out what it had to do with cats) 4. Lower (doesn't do much for me)

Do you have any bartylus snippets or does that ship not interest you?
Regulus and Barty? It’s not an OTP for me, but I like the vibe of it! I could see it as a “unspoken feelings / the one that got away” sort of relationship.
———————
Regulus Black’s eyes were grey.
Barty had heard the rumours long before he’d met the other boy. In the hushed giggles of his female classmates. In the proud remarks of other purebloods. Even in the idle comments of some professors.
Regulus Black had the eyes of his ancestors. Grey and fierce and pure.
When they’d met, Barty had bought into the story. He’d looked and seen the colour of steel blades and polished chalices and his father’s rings staring out at him from a pretty, delicate face; and he’d glanced away just as swiftly because there was a weight behind the other’s gaze that gripped at his bones and made it hard to breathe.
Something dissecting. Quizzical. Intrigued.
Regulus Black looked at Barty as if he could see the twisting, coiling expanse of his mind and wanted to explore it.
And Barty hadn’t known how to handle that, so he’d avoided that piercing gaze. Ducking his head or staring at the bridge of Regulus’ perfect nose whenever they spoke, just to create the illusion of distance.
Those first few months of their acquaintanceship were strange, and looking back on it now, Barty still didn’t know what had kept Regulus coming back to him.
He was glad for it though.
Because Barty knew better now. Knew the truth no one, save perhaps Regulus’ parents and brother, knew.
Regulus Black’s eyes weren’t only grey.
There were flecks of green around his irises, like hidden gems, and Barty’s chest had burned the first time he’d gotten close enough to glimpse the secret.

Rules: Recommend us 3 of YOUR fics: 1 that is “most popular” and 2 that are “hidden gems!” Then tag some folks.
Thanks @lunapwrites ! This sounds like a fun one. I’m going to try my best to do it on mobile too lol wish me luck.
My most popular fic based on hits and kudos is An Overly Considerate Friend. It’s a Jegulus fic and I feel like this bookmark someone left explains it perfectly: “You spied on my quidditch match? How homoerotic of you lemme stick my hand down your pants in this here hallway” basically James is like a bouncy ball and regulus grounds him (kinda). And then Sirius finds out and chases James through the castle 🤷🏻♀️
My first hidden gem is actually one of my more popular in terms that I’ve seen in recommended a lot but it’s still pretty low on hits and kudos. The Quidditch Pitch Incident is a Blinny 8th year fic in which she doesn’t realize how much Blaise likes her because she’s just so angry at the world and she takes it out on him thinking it’s just a quidditch captain rivalry. I love it too because it starts with the “hate” sex then works backwards in time for the reader to figure out how they got there and then what happens after.
For my second I’ll go with Diamond Girls. It’s a Pansmione in which hermione tells her preschool student she can’t marry him because she likes girls but when she puts on the diamond engagement ring for the hell of it, she can’t get it off. And then later that night she gets off on the ring. You know like the malfoy signet ring but a huge fuckin diamond. And the owner, Pansy, knows. And does something about it… 🔥 not your usual teacher/single parent trope whoops
Tagging everyone to jump in if you’d like. @schmem14 @riddikuluspuff @felixantares @ghaniblue @acnelli @bluesundaycake

Hidden Gems by scoradh
Scoradh is another personal fave that I don’t see being recced as much as she should, or at all. Which is a shame because her HP fics are absolutely brilliant! Most of her works were written back in 2005-2008 and updated later on AO3 so maybe that’s why they’re all hidden gems? You should all go check her LJ page too, which is where I found out she’s in her 30s now, and that knowledge left me shooketh. How is that even possible?! Guess some people are born genius like that 🤷🏻♀️ I’m listing below some works that may have fallen off the radar, Drarry and rare pairs at your heart’s content. Tbh I haven’t read some of those more than twice because this author has a penchant for MCD 💀 I don’t go there anymore but those fics still left a big impression on me not only in terms of world building and narrative but also in terms of clever dialogue and characterization, chef’s kiss content.
Rachel’s writing is unique, charming and full of wit; it builds the mood effortlessly and allows the characters to come alive and work their way inside your heart with their banter, their pining, that sexy angst and those emotional endings. I love her perception of Harry and Draco as two quirky, vulnerable, edgy and complex creatures. This is the kind of author that gets me willing to try pretty much everything they decide to write no matter the ship or trope. Mind the tags and feast on these treats!
Drarry
Clear As Mud (2005, M, 10k) - brilliant fwb, pining & jealousy, miscommunication, mentions to infidelity (Hinny). One of my favourite Dracos ever!
Set post-war and post-Harry's-conscience...Read my rec here.
Open Season (2005, M, 10k) - hilarious one shot, 8th year get together, meddling friends
Disaster lies in wait for the unsuspecting. Harry encounters a series of confusing events which lead him to one person: Draco Malfoy. Unfortunately, Draco is as befuddled as he is ... featuring a cast of thousands who are all in the know, and two boys who most emphatically are not.
Snakes and Ladders (2005, M, 20k) - Professor Draco, dad Harry, enemies to friends to lovers, slow burn. Cw: Cho bashing, misogyny
Sixteen years after he last clapped eyes on the Boy Who Lived To Be A Thorn In Draco Malfoy's Side, Draco is filling Snape's old shoes with aplomb. History, though, has a nasty habit of repeating itself. Draco has his comfortable existance turned topsy-turvy with the appearance at Hogwarts of Harry's son, who turns out to be able disrupt Draco's life with as much competency as his father.
Drawing Down The Moon (2006, E, 20k) - another fave with disaster Draco and pining Harry giving him some love advice, fake relationship, found family, all the good stuff. Cw: major character death
After breaking up with Blaise, a drunken Draco begs Harry Potter for help in winning him back. In a fit of misguided philanthropy (plus one or two ulterior motives) Harry agrees. In the midst of the ensuing chaos, at least one person falls in love.
DIY Messiah (2008, M, 26k) - so well written! friends to lovers slow burn, kid fic, divorced Draco, living together. Cw: infidelity (Hinny) - Ginny is awful here, you’ve been warned
Harry stopped hating Draco Malfoy on Bring Your Kids to Work Day.
Interview With The Hero (2006, E, 71k) - Draco in Egypt and Spain, identity porn, a thrilling mystery and great OCs! This fic is a fantastic journey. Cw: domestic abuse, prostitution, major character death, ambiguous ending
At the age of twenty-five, Draco is confronted with the past he'd rather not remember and the questions that still need answering. Still, a little Slytherin guile goes a long way. The only problem is that he might discover more than he bargained on about the people he thought he knew.
Rare pairs
Of The Race That Knows Joseph (2006, E, 8.4k) - excellent Remus/Regulus with enemies to lovers, getting back together, non-linear narrative, background Remus/Tonks
When dead men walk and badgers give you sarcastic looks, it's time to re-evaluate what it means to be a werewolf.
Like Candy From A Baby (2006, E, 13k) - sweet and funny Harry/Ron with friends to lovers, pining and sexy Ron on a mission to seduce oblivious Harry!
Ron seduces Harry.
May Contain Nuts (2006, E, 32k) - brilliant, hilarious, chaotic post-war Harry/George, a must read. cw: major character death
After Voldemort is defeated, the script for Harry's life comes to an end. Unsure of what to do with his life, he does nothing. Only one person is on hand to show Harry that a hero is not the sum of his vanquished enemies, but he's got problems of his own.
The Road Less Travelled (2007, M, 55k) - a very sweet and refreshing Scorbus journey (written before CC)
The adventures of Albus Severus Potter and his best friends, Scorpius Malfoy and Rambo Dursley, as they face down bullies, make friends and in passing learn some magic at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Thanks @wanderingbandurria for tagging me! Rules: Recommend us 3 of YOUR fics: 1 that is “most popular” and 2 that are “hidden gems!” Then tag some folks.
My most popular fic is Teenagers Scare The Living Sh*t Out Of Me. By FAR. I have no idea why it's such a hit, the summary is pretty vague and the tags are chaotic but somehow we're at 15k hits and counting. I guess we all just love the "Regulus comes from the cave straight to OoTP" trope? I guess what makes it stand out is the Ginny&Regulus friendship.
"Hidden Gem" No 1 is Expert on Call, a very short and sweet Jegulus story that I wish more people saw, I just think it's cute. James is an Auror and when he encounters a cursed jewelry box he can't make the head or tails of he calls his husband for advice :D
And "hidden gem" no 2 would probably be Everything Wrong With (Your Local Vigilante Punkband). It's a part of series, and here Regulus is talking to his muggle therapist about the Order and if he should join or not considering his amnesia and ongoing memory issues.
tagging @propheciesanddreams, @ncoincidences and umm @snarky-drabbles and if anyone else wants to do this just say I tagged you too! <3

Self Rec Tag Game
Rules: We would like to ask you to recommend us 3 of YOUR fics: 1 that is “most popular” and 2 that are “hidden gems!"
Most popular: “Fields of Strawberries” (Aug 2020, E, Harry/Remus, 9022)
As much as Remus has done for Harry over the years, this is the least he could do. Little did Harry know what he would discover about himself when he volunteered to marry Remus so he could keep custody of his infant son Teddy.
Technically there are two that sort of apply here; depending on if you go by most hits, or most kudos. I’m choosing to go with the most hits, as it’s a really close second in terms of most kudos as well. Also, it is one fic that I never expected to get hardly any support. The fact that it has, and continues to, has blown my expectations out of the water. The why remains a complete mystery to me, but I surely do appreciate it. I am not sure if it’s the extreme fluffiness of it, or the hot (hopefully) A/O sex at the ending, or maybe the combination of the two. Either way, I bring you:
Hidden Gem 1: “To Wait a Lifetime” (Oct 2013, T, Draco/Regulus, 17,080)
When Draco moved into Number 12 Grimmauld Place after the death of his wife, he never expected to find the love of his life, nor how long he would have to wait to claim that love
So, skipping over the drably sort of fics and some that were just sort of tossed off, without a lot of thought, this was the one that came up with the least amount of hits/kudos. Could be the paring, this was written long before Regulus hit his current status as a major hottie, (also he’s a ghost—fic based on the old movie “The ghost and Mrs Muir). It was so much fun to write, to figure out how to make a relationship with a ghost work, how they first discover each other, the getting together, and how they find their own happy ending. (Also, I love that Harry Potter serves as Draco’s closest friend in this fic).
Hidden Gem 2: “The Cottage of Discovery” (Nov 2014, E, Harry/Draco, 5156)
Sometimes paying attention to the events of the day is helpful, sometimes not paying attention, is even more helpful.
Fairly typical Harry/Draco fic with some common tropes: Auror partners each crushing on the other, but the other has no clue, stranded in the middle of nowhere—with no way out, only one bed, and there is very little to do to kill the time, besides… Well, you know. We all know. Still it was a great deal of fun to write this, and I wish it had more love.
tagging, if they have an interest (and hasn't already done this): @astridastrolabe, @sugareey-makes-stuff, @vaysh11, @romaine2424, @themightyflynn08, and anyone else who so desires

Regulus college headcanons
- He studies a joint major in Anthropology and Classics with a minor in Linguistics. Eventually he goes on to do a Masters in Musueum Studies with a focus on ethical curation.
- He prefers to study in coffee shops than libraries and he soon becomes a regular at a tiny hidden gem which has a rooftop that Reg loves to study on when it's dry.
- He never really gets used to the subway. Constantly gets lost. Always. And yet, he memorises walking routes quicker than Google maps.
- It takes him a hot minute to figure out a work/life balance. At first, he's so eager to make new friends and try new things that he fails his first big test and his mental health is a mess because he's constantly pushing his own boundaries (and not in a good way). He figures it out though with a little help from those new friends and some long ass phone conversations.
- He was kind of scared that living with 5 other people was going to be too much, but he thrives. He still needs a lot of space - but movie nights, house dinners and staying up until 2am talking about absolutely nothing are regular occurrences.
- Leo comes to hang out with him one weekend and they throw a masked party so people aren't all weird about it.
- He has the most complicated note organisation system, that literally nobody but him understands.
- Constantly sends Finn photos of his new finds because Finn gets just as excited as he does. Finn sending Regulus all the best boutiques. Finn taking Reg to New York fashion week
- Are you just as likely to find Reg in Pokemon pyjamas sketching in The Met as you're to find him immaculately dressed to buy groceries. Yes, you are.
- Regulus makes his first friend in class because he keeps muttering sarcastic comments under his breath and the other person can't stop laughing.
