I’m replaying Resident Evil 1 Remaster and it still makes my heart RACE OMG. Literally everything about it is amazing replaying a year later! The sound design especially freaks me out (in a good way), and I play with earphones so I can hear each sound cue (to know if something is around the corner, or banging on a door/window).
This may be an unpopular opinion but I don’t think they should remake this one, because the remaster is already perfection. But yes I’d love to see what they do, yet there are games that need it far more. Like Code Veronica especially needs a remake, because while I love all the cutscenes and stuff, the boss fights are real messy (I beat it though). Imagine that remade!
Out of all the Resident Evil games I’ve played, I think 1 will always hold a special place in my heart. It’s the first Resi game I’ve ever played/beaten, and the experience topped everything else. Despite me struggling the most in it due to my poor navigating skills, and being baffled by what to do and where to go at points (thankfully guides exist, though I only use them when I’ve tried everything). The story is so fascinating and I loved reading all the notes! Combat was tricky but I play on Easy so it isn’t too difficult (probably could play on Normal but I’m too chicken).
Replaying as Chris right now (because you get a ton more Wesker moments), but probably will do another Jill playthrough too. It’s neat that they have different skills.
Will probably replay others, and because it’s my birthday next week, I might treat myself to the newer Resi games.

I got back to playing Resident Evil 1 but this time on PC. I feel I can handle the controls a lot better on PC vs Switch. And let me tell you I dont know if its by sheer luck or what but I have been managing to dodge zombies and the dogs: the dogs are a shock to me because when I first played it it was always the dogs that killed me X.X
But I am saving a lot more which I know is bad with the first few games and i have been using ammo but also I have gone back and actually burned the bodies while when I did the first play through I didnt (even though you were supposed to :T ) so that has helped
Im still playing as Chris because I love the Redfields but dang I hate only have 6 spots for items

So, the Spencer Mansion’s been effectively abandoned for around two months, right? All personnel are either dead or effectively undead. So who’s keeping these candles lit? Does Lisa just shamble around with a lighter? Did Umbrella create their own proprietary brand of super-realistic LED candles?? I need to KNOW-

According to a few news sites, there may be a remaster of RE6 being released this year but this isn’t the first time these sites just treated rumors like facts (one video game news article claimed the trailer for Code Veronica remake was out but it was fan made).
I don’t personally see a point in a remaster but maybe new side content will come with it. Maybe extra stories or something like that so I’m keeping my eye out for official news from capcom.

Ada and Annette’s interaction is so underrated. I love them. They sound like two high school mean girls from rival friendship groups, or whatever the equivalent is in the resident evil universe.

Use It When You Need It
I wrote last week about my recent goal of sticking with a game through to the end. I talked about the availability of games and the ease in which we can play almost anything that’s ever been released. The rise of retro game shops and new, hobbyist hardware that lets us revisit old games in new ways have widened the pool of options exponentially beyond what digital distribution was already doing.…

So I've been doing some thinking on the rumors of a TotA remaster and how it would work out with a pattern I've noticed: even now with Graces remaster announced, every tales game to get a remaster for modern consoles and steam had, at some point, a downloadable PS3 version, and I assume that these PS3 versions are what the modern versions are further modifications of. An Abyss remaster would be the first time that method would be impossible, leading to two possibilities:
1) They go all the way back and painstakingly force the nearly 20 year old PS2 version to play nice in HD and on modern hardware, in a massive W for old games preservation and providing hope that we may one day get Destiny Directors Cut
Or, the option that I can't stop thinking about:
2) Unlike the previous remasters, they instead choose to go for a full remake in modern Tales style, in the vein of what we've seen Capcom do with their Resident Evil, with script details changed, gameplay completely reworked, and likely an all new voice cast for the english dub.
If they do go with that second option, then as with all full remakes these days, the fanbase will probably debate which is the better version, and I find it hilarious that this fanbase, of all of them, will all have to ask the questions:
Do you love the Original, or the Replica? Can you find room in your heart for both? How much of a difference is there between them, really? Are those differences important? Does that importance come from something inherent in what was changed, or does it come from your personal relationship with it? Does the existence of the Original make it okay to judge the Replica at a higher standard than normal? Does the existence of the Replica make it okay that the Original will be forgotten?
I'm starting to feel for Natalia, and how she was so fond of Asch.
