hello! can i ask you a question? what did you think of cassie in the 2003 run of teen titans? I remember disliking her a lot, but I don't know if it's because of the writing or because I was much more a Rose stan at the time (in my defence i was a littol teenager, i was dumb and only had one blorbo).

Speaking of Cassie, I see you talk a lot about young justice! What runs and issues would you reccommend to someone who's absolutely new to it? Thank you. :D

hi! i’m not a big fan of cassie in the 2003 teen titans. geoff johns (sigh) writing is lowkey painful to read through a modern lense. he oversexualizes her and she’s generally ooc. not my fav. this carries into the new52. here’s my background recs for each yj member and what yj stuff i would recommend:

cassie:

- wonder woman (1987) #105 is her debut. she appears periodically in the rest of the run. i would recommend #106, 107, 109-113, 139-144, and 156-158, 166, 167, 171, 172, and 174-176.

- wonder woman secret files and origins #1 and 3

- teen titans spotlight: wonder girl. not bad compared to the actual run.

- wonder girl: growing pains #1

kon:

- the death of superman. not required reading but helpful background if you haven’t read it before.

- reign of the supermen. kon’s first appearance and his origin.

- return of superman

- superboy (1994)

- superboy and the ravers. not required but it’s a bit of fun and he meets bart in issue #7.

- superman action comics: the house of kent. not really required but i like the storyline a lot.

bart:

- flash vol. 2 (1994) #91-100 is his first appearance.

- impulse (1995)

- the flash: mercury falling. not required but i like the story a lot.

tim:

- a lonely place of dying. tim’s début and first time as robin.

- batman #455-457

- robin (1993)

tbh there’s a lot of tim stuff out there and you don’t need to read a ton before young justice (i’ve barely scratched the surface on it lol). just enough to get a feel for his character.

and finally, what i would recommend for young justice:

- superboy/robin: worlds finest three. kon and tim’s first team up.

- jla: world without grownups

- young justice: the secret

- young justice (1998)

- titans/young justice: graduation day

- young justice (2019). thought bendis did an okay job.

so that’s the recs! i would recommend you stay away from anything new52 for young justice and any of the characters. for superboy, impulse, and robin solo runs, you really don’t need to read the entire runs before yj. just enough to get a feel for the characters. tbh you can also just hop right into young justice (1998) if you want. that’s what i did and then did background reading later. anyway hope this was helpful!

LMAO those are good, i'm also incredibly fond of how Batista did Tim’s hair during his stint on Robin... it's basically the same haircut as Red Robin but just a little bit shorter (also this came earlier so kinda the blueprint for the RR era hair tbh)... I just love the vibes

Weird tangent, but Tim as a cheater is such a prevalent discussion that when I found out Sandman happens in the DC universe, i immediately that panel where Tim falls asleep in the middle of a date (on a rollercoaster, to boot) and my brain thought the most absurd thought, "oh, Tim was cheating on her with Dream"

gggghhhhghhgg i don't blame you for this obviously because it is something that gets talked about so much but GOD i hate that

the actual context for anyone curious is that he's just so fucking exhausted from doing detective work super late the night before for his current case as Robin that he passed out
