it's not officially confirmed that the yellow kill tallies on boba's helmet are for jedi kills but I like to think so and I also like to think that there was a period in boba's life (early empire, young adulthood) where he was just going around pwning any adult jedi he could find on principle and it took him. a lot of them to get it out of his system. He spends an equal amount of years adjusting his reputation out of "guy you can pay anything to kill a jedi" territory and it's actually not that hard cause jedi are historically very hard to get rid of so his scary points are off the charts. Very lucrative business, doesn't get you fasttracked to the empire's "we might need that guy" list at all no sir

I am still neck-deep in DC fandom this month and the fics have been so so good. Unlike last time, I am too tired to write mini summaries/reviews, so I'm going to feature my favorite quote from each fic instead.

Or Tim and Bruce still have some things to sort through after the adoption.

The metal is warm, pulled with execution speed from under Damian’s pillow. “Okay,” Dick says quietly, tracking the intricacies of his own heartbeat—counting the space between breaths. “Guess I did need a shave.” (With faltering steps, Dick and Damian become Batman and Robin.)

On the 96th day Bruce didn't call, Dick remembered their old game. Three things he knew: 1) In three months, it would be Dick's death anniversary; 2) Bruce was still missing his check-ins; 3) Here Dick was, persisting. Imagine the things I'd survive, Dick thought distantly, if I loved Bruce less. Or: Agent 37 and his various crises of faith, on Day 277 at Spyral, Day 150, and Day -0.

the time you won your town the race by @silverwhittlingknife (Teen & Up, 4k (WIP), 2022) Tim. Tim is Dick’s. Death sharpens, clarifies these things. Who will receive the body, decide on the funeral, receive condolences, make all the decisions that matter. No one has questioned it, not even Tim’s friends. There’s a terrible clarity about death. If Dick said, let’s burn everything he owned, Alfred would do it.

He doesn’t know exactly what Tim would say. But he knows what Tim would do. Tim dies. Dick doesn’t take death for an answer. A Red Robin 12 AU.

It’s barely audible, but he knows what he heard. A short, four-note whistle, chirping down – E, C#, then jumping up to A, F#, a little trill on the finish. He waits a moment, head turned slightly towards the dim shapes of storage containers between him and the ramp, eyes straining against the blackness. Long, stretching seconds. There it is again. His gloved hand, prickling with cold, closes into a fist. It’s a wood thrush. A small North American songbird that doesn’t sing at night, doesn’t live in the city. He knows what it means. It means hold, steady, not yet. It means wait for me, I’m behind you.

which yknow he was kinda upset about because he felt so dumb to people. he knew he was intelligent, but he just couldn’t articulate it in a way that other people could understand. he always paused during his sentences, letting his words catch up to his thoughts. tripped over words, tongue going to the next syllable before he even got to the first.

and when people hear those pauses and breaks, it’s like they forget about everything else. screw theoretical hyperbolic geometry applications to worldly development, it wouldn’t fucking matter if he mixed the words up.

but, it does hide him. hides him well. because no matter how smart you are, how enhanced or augmented, it doesn’t matter if you have a stutter.

I find sukuna's enraged reaction to being pitied so interesting, considering that he, himself, admitted that he didn't expect that someone (or maybe just yuuji) offering him pity would anger him so much. honestly looking at all sukuna's interaction with other characters like jogo, yuuji, gojo... the contrast in how he talks about being strong and how he talks about being weak is quite striking.

despite having a huge superiority complex, he never gives any boasting comments about himself, like gojo for example. he even praises others, sorcerer and curses alike, for their strength, which again is contrary to gojo who often belittles and degrades his opponents. however, sukuna's behaviour is not actually opposite of gojo's, because while he admires others' strength, he finds being weak disgusting in itself. you see, gojo never had a problem with other people being weak because being weak is not something he could ever relate to like "yeah, those guys are weak but how is that my problem?". others being weak never really disgusted him, not like it does sukuna, but rather amused him (probably why he teased and bullied utahime and ichiji so much lol) anyway, my point is that, sukuna's attitude doesn't contrast gojo's, it mirrors it.

gojo's problem was that he was obsessed with being the strongest. he desperately wanted to live up to his title, but not because he had some deep-seated insecurity about being weak, but because that's all he's ever been. he wrapped his entire identity around it, which in result made him believe that he could only relate to people who were just as strong as him. then there is sukuna... who on the other hand... (dramatic pause)... is obsessed with being weak or rather he desperately doesn't want to be seen as someone who's weak. sukuna keeps insulting and belittling yuuji for being weak, despite yuuji CLEARLY not being weak. yuuji's own humanity and the strength he derives from it, exposes sukuna's own deep-seated weakness and dare I say... insecurity.

at the beginning of this post I said how sukuna has a big superiority complex, which now, after the recent canon events it almost borderlines with an inferiority complex. the thing is that, superiority complex and inferiority complex are kinda the same thing. they both stem from a deep-seated feeling of inadequacy, with the only difference being that someone with an inferiority complex tends to express these feelings as anxiety and submissiveness, whereas someone with a superiority complex overcompensates by acting as if they're god's gift to mankind, which is the later for both sukuna and gojo. however, unlike gojo, whose own superiority complex comes from the fact he was treated like a god by everyone in his clan since he was born, sukuna's superiority complex and its origins can still only be found in the subtext. we know that he was born an unwanted little wretch and people hated him, most likely feared him due to his own abnormal appearance and probably later his overwhelming strength. I don't want to dive too much into this since we don't actually know sukuna's backstory, we can only speculate based on what we know. however, it's his conversation with yuuji after he possessed megumi that interest me the most. he says...

Well, saying it from my perspective; why are all of you so weak. Why (are you) so obsessed over living despite being so weak

and let's not forget, sukuna is the only character who thinks yuuji is weak, which makes the rest of his speech all the more interesting, as he continues...

How can living things who keep collapsing easily say that they wish to be happy forever?

now this is funny, because several chapters later he admitted that no matter how many times he tries to break yuuji, he keeps getting back up, he's either contradicting himself again (and well.. he IS) or...

It’s better for all of you to spend your whole life crushing fitting misfortune for you

he's not only referring to yuuji here... sukuna genuinely believes that the weak should spend their whole lives chewing on their suffering, as is their natural state... but why?

after yuuji offered sukuna mercy, sukuna felt looked down upon and got down right pissed, which even shocked sukuna himself. why would that offend him? after all, he KNOWS he's strong not even gojo's taunts could get to him or yorozu trying to teach him about love, something he supposedly already knows about. why did yuuji offering him sympathy enraged him so much? shouldn't he just laugh in his face for believing he could beat him?? it seems like.. MAYBE.. in that moment, yuuji unintentionally touched on a very sore spot there, revealing sukuna's own insecurity: being seen as weak.

THE UNPARALLELED HERO OF US ALL

AHHHH THEY DID IT! THEY DID THE THING

THEY’VE COMPLETED THE CYCLE OF SAKURA AND SYAORAN TRYING TO HOLD HANDS. 

I especially like how, for Lava Lamp, it was a big climactic battle with reality falling apart around him and him diving through it all to try grab her (his Sakura. Who is Not!Sakura) just in time. 

But here, Sakura and Syaoran are just quietly existing out of time and have to make the internal choice to keep going. It’s an emotional climax that they otherwise haven’t had the chance to address together until now - them both seeing everything that has happened (both to them and by them), weighing it all and then still choosing each other. And for Syaoran, LETTING himself be chosen by the other. ALLOWING himself to have grace given to him by another, by Sakura, even if he doesn’t think he deserves it. 

Which is also completing the emotional circle they set up in Chapter 1, where Syaoran was reluctant to accept Sakura's feelings because he didn’t think he was worthy of her as royalty. How fun that they brought that back with infinitely higher stakes and he ACCEPTED it this time.

Postal 1 dude is such a fascinating character to me because i feel like theres so much room for variance in how people interpret him, with enough of a canon voice through his writing to start from but everyone has their own kind of way of moving with it, yknow? Different aspects of him they focus on, ways that voice is taken and understood, personal filters of our own lives that can change how you see him and even coming back to him later to a completely different view of him

Having to block everyone who has "wincest dni" in their bio not because I ship wincest (because I have come to the conclusion that I actually don't) but because I do think it'd be fun to poke around at the very real weirdness of their relationship that I've noticed in the show so far. i know we say julian’s old name like “jules” but it would be such irony if his parents actually named him “jewels”. like their original intention for their son was for him to be their prize possession, their treasure, their “jewel”.

that’s why when he was 15 and found out what they did, julian couldn’t stand the name anymore.

because he isn’t really their jewels, is he? he’s synthetic. tailored to have perfect clarity, cut into a certain dimension, polished. but he wants them to love him as he was. wants them to see his cloudiness, the rock that still clings to his edges, his unfacetted form and think “this is still a precious gem, this is still my jewels.”

tldr: julian’s parents cannot see someone’s worth as long as they are not tailored to their expectation of what a jewel is. but a diamond is still a diamond, whether it is raw or polished. it is worth something no matter the form it takes.

The way it's Sticks abuse thats the most pervasive, the most damaging to Matt long term. It's Stick's montra that you can't have people that Matt always circles back to. And anytime someone leaves, or gets hurt, it just serves to prove that ideology. Matt isn't allowed to have people, he's not allowed to have a life, not allowed to love, because anytime he did let himself exist beyond violence people got hurt.

And, it's obviously not true right? of course it's not. But to hear that as a child, to have it beaten into you, and then abandoned the moment you demonstrated a very normal, very human emotion. To the point that even caring about the person telling you not to care gets you hurt in the end, because he died too! it's just, the way the abuse he experienced as a child constantly comes back to haunt him. he's never able to escape it, even when the guy who did it to him is dead, because Stick being dead is just more proof that anyone close to Matt Murdock gets killed. auuugh.
