Here's like a part one to the TMA AU I was talking about a few days to a week ago.
-
While Martin might have assured Tim and Sasha that getting them in to see Jon would be a simple matter of letting the guards know ahead of time, he neglected to confess the additional paperwork that the judge and prison was fond of for any changes in scheduling. Martin knew he was exempt from the usual form and hoops that were generally required every time someone wanted to spend time with Jon, but despite his trustworthiness he knew that getting Sasha and Tim into Jon's prison would be like pulling teeth. So without giving the two of them a specific date, just that he would give them a heads up 2 weeks in advance, Martin set about calling his contacts in the prison.
After 3 gruelling weeks of phone conversations, email correspondence, and filling out forms that were constantly delayed; Martin was finally able to give Tim and Sasha a date for them to take off of work to see Jon with him. In the interim, Martin had made sure to keep visiting Jon as normal, and did his best to hide how taxing the process had been from both him and the dynamic duo. Unfortunately, he knew that Tim and Sasha had their theories about the process, but they were at least polite enough to not ask questions. They just seemed happy to hear that the waiting was almost over, and Martin had to admit it had been a joy beyond words that he had been able to reconnect with them and begin the healing process. He still was on mediocre terms with Tim, but Sasha made for a good buffer and they both were trying their best to forgive and heal.
At last, 2 weeks later, the three of them made their way to the prison. The solid brickwork and menacing bars always reminded Martin of the Hunt domain fashioned after a prison that he and Jon had gone through on their journey to the Panopticon. The oppressive atmosphere and stink of human misery never quite got any easier to ignore, and tended to remind him that Jon probably was suffering on the days he didn't visit. Admittedly it was easy to forget when he wasn't at the prison as even most visits he made Jon was in good spirits and looked about as good as he had right before the Unknowing. But every few visits Jon would be sporting a cast, or would be holding himself gingerly in the chair, or he would look like he hadn't slept in a week and would have that hair trigger panicked response to everything that moved, and Martin would once again be starkly reminded that Jon wasn't just sitting in a prison cell day after day waiting for his time in prison to be up.
Martin shook his head, clearing the depressing thoughts and focusing on the present moment as they were brought through the checkpoints leading to Jon's visitation room. It wouldn't do for him to be sad when he was about to have (hopefully) one of the happiest afternoons on record. They cleared the final checkpoint and Martin glanced at them to try and grab their attention before he began to speak. "So, just a reminder, Jon doesn't know yet that you're both…"
"Alive?" Asked Tim, after Martin had paused for just a moment too long trying to think of something more tactful.
Martin nodded, grateful he wasn't the one to say it. "I also don't know how he's doing today, so as long as you don't say anything I should be able to ease him into the idea without startling him too much."
Tim rolled his eyes, but nodded his assent while Sasha just looked vaguely bemused and nodded as well. Martin, may have also neglected to mention his suspicions about Jon's treatment here, but he hopes that perhaps he could address that after the others had had some time to reconnect with their old coworker. With a deep breath, Martin opened the door they had finally arrived at.
As always, the guards had sat Jon down on a chair facing the door. The first thing Martin noticed was that Jon was looking good that day. There was a still healing bruise peeking out of the edge of the collar of Jon's shirt, which was only noticeable if you were looking for it; and the fringe of white bandages at the edge of his shirt sleeve on his right side were quite subtle. Martin assured himself that despite these, Jon must have been doing well as he seemed to be holding himself very relaxed in his chair. With a fortifying breath, Martin walked into the room and was happy to note that Tim and Sasha stayed by the door.

So I've always been fascinated by the implications of this back and forth from chapter 63, Chains. This happens before the 104th along with Hange reach the chapel where Eren and Historia are held and Levi debriefs them all on Kenny and what kind of opponent he is, an opponent that scares even him, if we are being very honest. But Hange says something interesting and different from the others about Kenny as they ask Levi: "How is it you don't know more about Kenny the Ripper? Didn't you live with him?"
Tumblr media
And that dialogue coming from Hange is interesting because it implies two different interpretations of the events unfolding: 1) Hange knows that Levi used to live with Kenny because he told everyone present in that carriage beforehand while he was explaining Kenny’s skills or 2) Hange knows about this detail because Levi already told them about his past in another conversation they both had prior to this scene. Hange couldn't have known from the conversation Levi had with Nifa when he told her out of nowhere he used to live with Kenny before her death since Hange was not present with them at that time. So then that would mean Levi could have told Hange at another time offscreen from the manga.
The second reasoning then implies that Levi trusted Hange enough to open up about his past to them. And I think the second reasoning is more plausible than the first since it’s only Hange who asks him a question linked to his past, unlike the others who only muse about Kenny and how hard it will be to beat him as seen in the panels below mostly coming from Connie, Sasha, Armin and even Hange. But that specific line is very different from the bit of dialogue where Hange reflects on who Kenny is as a fighter. The way Hange asks their question about Kenny's place in Levi's life doesn’t feel as if Levi already told the group about him and Kenny living together in the past, meaning that it could be a piece of information only Hange knew about him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And if we go with the second reasoning (but both interpretations are valid), then it solidifies the trust Levi has for Hange and vice-versa, going so far as to open up about his past to them, which is an interesting touch and maybe another mystery we will never be able to solve in Levi and Hange’s relationship. But the traces of Hange knowing bits of Levi’s past (and especially the past surrounding Kenny) are definitely there.

i feel like a lot of people don’t even know what the term “arc” means, let alone a redemption arc, because they’ll see a character being portrayed as sympathetic once and immediately label them as a redeemed character.
take pacifica from gravity falls, for example. i see so many people being like “she’s such a complex character” or “omg her redemption arc was the best!” folks. her redemption “arc” lasted ONE episode. ONE. that is not an “arc”, that’s just her doing one good thing. and sure, she has the potential to redeem herself but that doesn’t mean that one episode counts as a redemption arc.
pacifica isn’t that complex either, she’s more interesting than the typical mean girl stereotype but she’s really not that deep of a character. i still don’t understand all the love she gets. i don’t hate her and i think she could have been easily redeemed if there were a few more episodes focused on her, but i still find her a bit annoying ngl. especially since she went back to being the rich mean girl stereotype in the finale.
anyway, a villain/antagonist doing something good in ONE episode is not a “redemption arc”. people also said the same about sasha from amphibia when her entire arc happened offscreen. literally we just see her feeling guilty and then skip to when she’s a better person. and of course, people say that shadow weaver and hordak were redeemed when they clearly weren’t.
doing one good thing ≠ redemption.

I see where people are coming from when comparing Sasha Waybright and Amity Blight and honestly the last names really don’t help, in regards to how they’re mean rich white girls who come around and are shipped with the protagonist. But by the end of the day, I think this comparison can get a little superficial when it comes to assigning narrative ‘equivalents’, or at the very least, there’s another angle we don’t consider enough; Lilith and Sasha.
Because when we look at the role in the story these characters have, it makes a lot of sense; They’re in their own ways the antagonists of S1, having to deal with the pressure of this older government figure with more power than them. But in the buildup to the climactic conflict with them, we saw plenty of how they care for one of our protagonists, while still having their own issues, and so it’s kind of a mixed, complicated bag where it’s not all bad but in the end, there’s this lingering problem that finally rears its head to be addressed.
They’re more openly ‘problematic’, messy characters, who even after their turnaround still have their little issues lingering. I think the main difference really is that for Sasha, her spotlight as an antagonist continued throughout the second season, with most of her maturation after the big turning point (ba-dum tsss) being offscreen. By contrast, Lilith resolves her role as an antagonist at the end of the first season, leaving plenty of onscreen time in the second season for us to see the painful, messy process of her unlearning a LOT of baggage.
On a similar note, I also want to bring up my point about the parallels in narrative roles; Sprig/Polly and King are obvious because they’re the animal sidekick little brothers, as is Eda and Hop Pop, because they’re the old, experienced mentors. But in terms of narrative, it’s the other way around; Eda is equivalent to Sprig, because they’re both the deuteragonists of their shows. TOH was founded on the dynamic of Luz and Eda specifically, if you had to boil it down to JUST the two, well… It’d be Luz, and then Eda, who’s the main character after her. Likewise, Spranne against the world.
King is then equivalent to Hop Pop/Polly, in the sense that they’re just below the deuteragonist in the pecking order, albeit still core protagonists. And I guess with Polly and King, they’re both younger animalistic siblings that the fandom overlooked a lot, but in reality they show a lot of maturity and growth throughout the series and end up fairly underrated; Though in King’s case, the Collector helped to shine a light on this. Come to think of it, I’d say Frobo did the same with Polly, showing her going from immature younger sibling to becoming an older one herself.
And Frobo and the Collector are both childish characters introduced in season 2 who allude/tie into the main villain’s true plans and its origins, how ancient they are, etc. Abandoned and lost to time from an era before everything else, an era that established any of the conflict we see now; There is no Owl House, period, without the Archivists’ genocide wounding the Titan and laying the literal groundwork for the Boiling Isles. And there is no Amphibia without the setup of the Calamity Empire to be taken down.

Note
So in your opinion if you’d be be able to rewrite Sasha’s character arc into being more organically engaging, what would you start with? Having her redemption happen in Season 2 instead of 3? Or just more episodes involving her?
Having more episodes of her in season 3. For paired episodes 1 can the Plantars and Anne on Earth and then have the others about Sasha and Grime. Some folks say that her redemption was fast. I don't think so. It's just that it happened mostly offscreen sadly.

MASSIVE MAGNUS PROTICOL EPILOGUE AND ALL OF ARCHIVES SPOILERS
So Colin’s death in the prologue actually does explicitly mark the difference in tone between Proticol and Archives
think about it! with Colin, the door creaked open and his body was discovered with a bloodcurdling scream. for as many people die in archives, it’s never been presented like this.
the most we would get out of archives was maybe some crying and an “oh…”
sasha was dead for a whole season before anyone figured that one out and when they did- jon just went “oh figured that out, gonna go buy an axe” and we only saw like post learning about it by at least a month or something with everyone else.
tim dies in front of people then jon gets coma-d, no reactions besides “he was a good man 😔”
Daisy’s is very different for obvious reasons, but we still don’t even get classic horror screams
any entities that die are practically just moved on from immediately, sometimes even played as jokes or exclusively for jon development in season 5, even if they were mostly human.
the only real body discoveries i can remember were Gertrude by martin and Lightner at the end of season 2 which were offscreen or an “oh jon…..”
the deaths are vaguely somber but not a big deal
but in protocol it’s blood, guts, a character we know well, and it’s more classic movie horror than anything archives did and it’s much more obvious and loud about it.
idk if that makes sense but i want colin back and i’m gonna go cry about it

i just watched the robot revolution (LATE i KNOW) but i actually quite liked it?? i saw a fair amount of criticism for it but like I enjoyed it... not The Greatest Best Writing RTD has ever put out but kind of irreverent in places (alan being reduced to a sperm and an egg at the end) and sinister in others (the collapse of belinda's trust in the dr) and a ham fisted social allegory. felt like a nuwho series 2 -- as in ten and rose era -- episode.
my main criticism honestly is that Sasha 55 wasn't really onscreen enough to really earn a viewer's understanding of the dr and Belinda's reactions to her death -- like i know the dr has known her OFFSCREEN for several months but Belinda has had like one conversation with her -- as evidenced with her reaction just being "she was nice to me" so we don't actually get that emotional background from either main character.
that being said overall i REALLY REALLY like belinda I like her snippy little judgments juxtaposed with her immediate sense of duty and responsibility -- her personality beyond just the MYSTERY of her -- and I'm excited to see how this goes
(side note when the two star diplomas touched and that super abstract sequence with the colorful lights and alan flickering between different stages of life and the dr and Belinda falling in slow motion? loved that shit so much. the most classic who thing I have seen in new who skdjkdnd)

TDP S7E1 Rewatch (feat. my commentary)
Astrid and Kosmo were great in S6 so it was cool to see them again in S7
I love how Astrid’s wings fluffed out when she got emotional
“They will fall hard” was an interesting line that didn’t end up going quite where I thought it would, but maybe that’s an Arc 3 thing
Hi Ethariiii love the new look <3
Runaan’s lotus was alone in the pool, which means they removed Rayla’s lotus after S3E3. When do we think they did that? Did they destroy it or does Ethari keep her flower somewhere special as a reminder?
Is it just me or is Runaan’s animation a little stilted in this scene? It clashes at times with his VA’s performance (Allen’s also legit just an NPC here)
I liked Rayla helping Callum with his staff, it was a cute interaction overall
The way Aaravos defined the In Between made me think Leola was trapped there and he was looking to find a way to free her
“It’s time to grieve” Terry doing the forehead touch was so sweet
Oh boy time for my favourite sequence of the episode
Owww Jack and Jesse did so wonderfully it breaks my heart every time I see it
“Babe” TERRY
Sorvus reunion my beloved <3
Broyals reunion my beloved </3
“I never promised” Astrid is a queen I will not hear anything else of it
Oooo the Dutch tilt on Ezran saying “King of ashes?” to represent his turmoil
Ezran always looked so awkward on his throne, I choose to think it’s because he hasn’t grown into his title yet. Personal headcanon is that he’ll be much more comfortable sitting on his throne in Arc 3
Aaravos is so fruity I love it
And so is Corvus I love how casual he’s gotten with everyone since joining the Crownguard
“Such a kind young man” saying that like Corvus didn’t also help Aara-faux-s
WHAT WAS THE APPLE FORRRR
Zym snapping at Aegis was cute
Soren not having a sleeping bag says a lot about him as a character I think
Also is this the first Soren/Rayla hug? I think it might be!
I expected a bigger reaction between Soren and Runaan considering they fought (a gloves off, no holding back, trying to kill each other kind of fight)
Ezran’s voice cracking on “this is all your fault!” ughhh. Sasha did amazingly in this scene
“Take a breath” callback to Ezran trying to talk down Rex Igneous????
The painted sky during the Star Scraper scene is gorgeous
“I’m going to Katolis” but then… she doesn’t? She goes to the Silvergrove? Idk just a scripting mistake I assume. Either Astrid took so long finding them because she stopped in Katolis first and then tracked Rayllum down or Kosmo told her “nah you’ll find them in the Silvergrove” offscreen
Overall thoughts:
This episode was pretty good for a season premiere, a solid 8/10 in my opinion. The highlights were definitely in the character dynamics and everyone playing off each other. I do think that a rewatch opens the season up to some holes/flaws in the larger story that couldve been fixed if this episode had been cleaner. The animation was also a little wonky at times too, even if the backgrounds were pretty.

Bumble's Curse AU (DOTC) (half-baked)
The Bullshit
I think what really annoys me about Bumble's death aside from the sexism and xenophobia and the sending her back to an abuser and not doing anything against Clear Sky is the fact that THEY AT LEAST COULD HAVE DONE SOMETHING WITH IT.
Think about it. The first main character of the series was Rusty/Firestar, a kittypet who proved himself over and over in spite of his origins and became legend among the Clans.
Then we flashback to the creation of the Clans and have Bumble, who was rejected for her kittypet origins and.......nothing comes from it. Literally nothing reasonable.
What They Could Have Done
They could have still killed her, much as that scene absolutely sucked, if it was to intentionally show the Clans' xenophobia, to show the Clans' flaws and how that will eventually lead to Firestar changing things. But rejecting Bumble as a Clanmate was seen as a completely good thing??
Like they could have deliberately made their stories correlate in opposite directions.
So what if the Clans actually faced consequences for literally not helping Bumble when she was abused and leading her on the path of death?
I like the idea of her relating to water or ice, as that's the opposite of fire.
My Main Idea
She becomes a crying spirit, so distraught from her death and how she was treated by everyone--friends to enemies--in her life, that her ghost, if seen, is seen always crying
(cats can't cry, but in the books they shrug, show the whites of their eyes, have kits talk and open their eyes at like one day, so I think it's fine)
The emotions engulf her entirely, so that all she can feel in her death is utter sorrow. And because ~spirit powers~ those tears are the waters that flood SkyClan--the Clan that was founded by her killer. Because she sees how many kittypets reside in it, and if she wasn't so destroyed, so constricted in how she could feel as a spirit doomed to always feel only sadness, she would have been glad for them, she would have been happy!
But because she was a crying spirit, she could only cry at the unfairness of it. Why could they get the life that she had wished for herself?
And, as Patchpelt once said in Forest of Secrets: "I remember the last time the river overflowed, many moons ago. Cats from all Clans drowned. Prey drowned, too, and we went hungry even though our paws stayed dry. This is not just RiverClan's problem."
Maybe Bumble had to do with that flood as well? It's not seen in books, so it could have happened for a number of reasons. Maybe when Featherstorm met with a kittypet or had a kittypet's kits? Maybe, to tie them further, when Firestar was born and she could feel the prophecy, and knew of a kittypet that would be accepted into the Clans and become a wonderful leader?
As well, there's the flood in Bramblestar's Storm--though the kittypets join afterward. What if Benny was destined to become someone great, almost like Firestar, but this knowledge upset Bumble further, resulting in the flood.
As well, Shadowstar lost a life to drowning--and she was the leader to reject Bumble.
To make this short and not put in detail every water-related incident, here's a list of those that drowned, and thus could have possibly been killed (unintentionally and unknowingly) by Bumble:
Splashpaw [died offscreen in Dawn]
--
Woodkit + Robinkit [Leopardstar's Honour]
--
Tadpole [Tigerstar and Sasha] (kittypet that would have joined the Clans, as would Hawk and Moth, but they survived)
--
Lichenfur [Skyclan and The Stranger]
--
Flametail [Night Whispers]
--
Blackstar [offscreen in Bramblestar's Storm]
--
Seedpaw [Bramblestar's Storm]
--
Pebblefoot [offscreen in Bramblestar's Storm]
--
Grasspelt [offscreen in Bramblestar's Storm]
--
Snipkit [Hawkwing's Journey] (Skyclan + being chased away by someone who was once a kittypet possibly induced Bumble's crying??)
--
Juniperclaw -[AVOS]
IMPORTANT TO NOTE:
You may say that Bumble's no killer, and I would agree with you! In this case, the deaths are not murders, Bumble is not killing them intentionally--she likely doesn't even realize that she's killing them at all.
She is constantly crying in her afterlife, and whenever she sees something that especially triggers the deep sorrow inside her (like something that reminds her of her own pain or the life she could have had), a flood results--and the flood could kill anyone that gets caught in it, regardless of if they, specifically, caused her sadness.
Then, what if someone--Firestar, Princess, Echosong, another kittypet or kittypet-turned warrior finds her, and breaks the trance that had engulfed Bumble for years?
And she realizes the monster that she had become, that she made herself into, that the Clans made her into--no, the Clan founders, because these cats alive now were innocent. Just like she was. and she breaks down. The numb exterior that had built after decades of living as a crying spirit shatters, and Bumble is Bumble again.
More ideally, everyone who killed/rejected her apologize deeply. Maybe she accepts, maybe she doesn't, she's just glad to have the pain mostly gone, because she spent too long suffering and making others suffer because of it, and she just wants to move on.
And together, they send a message to the Clans to not neglect help from anyone who may need it, regardless of where they come from, and to think twice before rejecting someone based solely on where they come from. -- At least then they could admit the whole xenophobia problem in Warriors and try to fix it.
--
This is still very wonky, especially that ending part. My brain is still fried to blackened ash from final exams, but I thought of this and wanted to get it out there.
I think Bumble would be more interesting of a character if she was, you know, a character and not a prop, written only to be abused, neglected, killed, and forgotten. And I think it would be interesting if the Clans' xenophobia was called out and dealt with instead of something that's treated as perfectly okay and normal.

Odd question.
Who would you say was more unfairly sidelined?
Angela Cross, Sasha Phyronix or Talwyn?
Hmm. That's an interesting one. Sure, I'll bite!
I guess this may be a bit controversial, but I don't really think Angela was "unfairly sidelined" at all. She had her place in the story in Going Commando, a prominent one at that, and despite me thinking her arc kinda sucks in GC, it doesn't erase the fact that her character was basically done after Going Commando. Her one goal was to stop Fizzwidget Qwark from releasing the crazy Protopet.
It's only now with ACiT and RA that Angela actually serves a purpose beyond Going Commando (and even saying that is a stretch, considering the purpose as of right now is just a mix between "where did she go?", "is she a lombax?", and the fact she is presumably with max apogee). She was never *intentionally* sidelined, in my opinion.
Overall, she was just a fan-favorite side character until they accidentally messed up with the whole "last Lombax" thing, and she didn't really seem all that important to the main characters beyond being a girl Ratchet thinks is pretty and wants to impress lol.
The other two, on the other hand... they both have it pretty bad.
Sasha is never brought up after Deadlocked's intro scene until the comics, post-ACiT. Even in the comics, Ratchet and Sasha's relationship is barely touched on, so we don't really have any idea of why they broke up besides that one site that claimed it was because of political differences. Sasha is treated like she wasn't important to the cast when she clearly WAS important to, at the very least, Ratchet. She isn't that important of a character to the story which is why I wouldn't be all that surprised if we don't see her again, but she was still IMPORTANT to a character and that alone means she deserved more than just an offscreen send-off in the comics.
It's like they specifically took Ratchet to a completely different galaxy so they could avoid past characters and introduce new ones, and OH HEEY WAIT A MINUTE, does this kinda sound familiar...?
Because it happened again. That's essentially the same thing that Rift Apart does. To avoid the elephant in the room (Ratchet's important relationships with other characters that would add to his hesitation with risking it all to go find the Lombaxes, i.e. Azimuth, Vendra, Talwyn, Cronk, Zephyr, Tachyon, etc.) they straight up just ignore having to talk about those characters by putting him in a position where they will never realistically be brought up— a different dimension, with new characters.
Despite Into the Nexus cementing Talwyn as an important character and RA being the sequel to Nexus, Rift Apart chooses to play it as safely as possible by vaguely mentioning her in one very easily missable dialogue that is, while cute, not important whatsoever towards Ratchet's inner conflict.
If this was the first time her character was treated like this, it wouldn't be a big deal... but this isn't the first time. She was (allegedly) axed from A Crack in Time, axed from Full Frontal Assault, had her role minimized in Into the Nexus, and was reduced to a credits cameo in Rift Apart. Anytime she DID have screentime, it was rarely spent developing her or her goals, and instead developing Ratchet's character and motivations.
Things do HAPPEN to Talwyn, but they happen so that she can be more relatable to Ratchet, not because it'll benefit her character.
In conclusion: sasha got the worst of it by being completely ignored until the comics because she was too cool and capable and will probably never show up again. angela isn't that bad because she still gets referenced and the door is still wide open for her to be included in a future game whenever IG decides they've had enough fun messing with going commando fans, but i do understand and sympathize with the pain of waiting over twenty years to see her again. aaaaand talwyn is a big ole mess but she's my mess so i love her no matter how many times they cut her from the games :D

So, some people in the Amphibia fandom claim that Marcy being in a coma and possessed for most of season three was necessary to "show her the consequences of her actions."
Here's my rebuttal to that line of thought: wouldn't it have made more sense to have Marcy be involved in the plot so she can actually, you know, see the consequences of her actions?
Marcy didn't get to actually see the destruction Andrias reaped upon Amphibia because she helped him get the fully charged Calamity Box. Nor did she actually face Anne and Sasha being upset with her beyond what happened in True Colors; all she did was get yelled at by a holographic illusion of the two of them, and then was instantly forgiven by the real Anne and Sasha upon being rescued.
Compare and contrast Sasha, who actually had to fight alongside the frogs she spent almost two whole seasons disliking. Then when Anne returned to Amphibia things weren't instantly okay between them; Anne still had lingering feelings of doubt after Sasha's betrayals and general behavior before Amphibia, and the two of them had to work through their issues for the sake of reparing their friendship.
This is why I respectfully disagree with people who say Marcy needed to spend season three offscreen as part of her character arc. Because Sasha didn't, so why couldn't Marcy?

The fact that Mabel (Gravity Falls) and Marcy and Sasha (Amphibia) get more hate than Catra is crazy. The aforementioned three definitely did bad things, but they actually FELT REMORSE, REALIZED THEY WERE WRONG, AND STROVE TO FIX THINGS.
i know mabel gets a lot of hate (and most of it is definitely undeserved) but i've only mostly seen people loving marcy and sasha? maybe i'm in the wrong side of the fandom but i've definitely only seen praise for these two, even though marcy's switch from bad to good was too sudden and sasha's redemption arc happened completely offscreen.
of course, they're not as bad as catra and at least they actually change in the end, but i still found their arcs to be pretty unsatisfactory. marcy was a really compelling character in s2 but then the writers decided to woobify her for the entire third season, adding more and more reasons why we, the audience, should sympathize with her.
i would have liked to see them explore her moral greyness more but i feel like the writers made the same mistake that spop writers did with catra. instead of just giving us a proper redemption arc, they put marcy through hellish torture because apparently suffering = redemption. then she's rescued and she just apologizes once and everything is solved. idk, there was a lot of potential with marcy's character that was unutilized.
sasha's character was handled a tiny bit better but it was still a lazy choice to not show her redemption arc at all. she does one good thing, then we cut to anne and the plantars, and when they return to amphibia, sasha is suddenly a hero and everyone has forgiven her already. it just felt off to me but these two characters are definitely still better than catra, which is honestly not a huge achievement, the bar is in the earth's core at this point.

I wonder if it would have been better for the story for Sasha and Grime to *not* have been planning to take over until they find the tapestry in True Colors, and they have to make a split-second decision to cobble together a coup, Sasha especially having to grapple with the idea that Anne will hate her for doing what she now knows is right.
(This might just be my own bias, as I'm generally not a fan of "backsliding" in arcs that end positively; Zuko's is the only one I can name where that was done well, and even then there's some good meta about how that hurt the structure of season 3; certainly I think it's strange that Sasha repeated her arc offscreen, just more sincerely.)
