my favorite thing is when actors who are part of a popular fandom ship know about it and are very opposed to it to the point of borderline homophobia. notable examples include robert sean leonard (wilson, house md), frazer hines (jamie mccrimmon, classic doctor who), and of course the king himself william shatner (james kirk, star trek: the original series). to all of these men I have this to say: girl you did not have to look at him like that. you did this to yourself

Anniversary Tournament
Last year for Doctor Who's anniversary I ran a tournament between Doctor Who stories, and I wanted to so something different again this year. A tournament between real people important to the history of Doctor Who, actors, writers, producers, directors, composers, production designers. Technically it'll be a tournament for the most infuential person to Doctor Who and its development over the years, but really I want it to be a celebration of all of these people, and not just the winner.
To that end, the nomination form, you can also submit nominations normally, ie sending me an ask or replying to this post, however I won't be accepting propaganda through those methods.
I'm thinking I'll close nominations on the 18th of November, that might change but probably not by much

if green then at least one person has submitted propaganda for them

Highlander (1986)

Alas, the 97th annual Academy Awards are finally here. The Oscars 2025, hosted this year by comedian Conan O’Brien, brought out the film world to the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, March 2. It’s the final act in what has been a historic (and, at times, very chaotic and unpredictable) awards season. Anora, the comedic drama from director Sean Baker, walked away with a total of four Oscars. But before those little gold men were handed out inside the Dolby Theatre, stars of the past year’s biggest and boldest films hit the Oscars red carpet to show off their fanciest black tie outfits. Among them were Best Actress winner Mikey Madison (who won a close race that included Demi Moore and Fernanda Torres), A Complete Unknown star Timothée Chalamet, and Wicked leading ladies Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande (who later delighted the crowd with a performance of tunes from the Jon M. Chu blockbuster). Who is most important to the history of Doctor Who?
With 61 years under its belt, Doctor Who has changed a lot since it began all those years ago. Its continued survival has relied on that change and the countless people who made it happen. Trying to single out any one person as the most important to the history of the show would be near impossible, but hell if we aren't going to try.
bar a few of the most recognisable names, contestants for this tournament were decided by nomination only, so there are inevitably people missing who's contributions were just as valuable, please don't take anyone's absence as a slight against them or their work
the submission form for propaganda is still open

Healing Potpourri (Simi Sohota) is a San Francisco based musician who cut his teeth at KDVS in Davis, CA. There he was exposed to the amazing "stacks". Rows and rows, rooms and rooms, just wall to wall vinyl. I'm guessing he picked through Microdisney, The High Llamas (Sean O'Hagan does work with him on his new album), Beulah, and others.
I'm guessing artists as varied as Aaron Frazer, Kaz Mirblouk (also a KDVS acolyte) and Helado Negro might enjoy Healing Potpourri. Frankly, it sounds like it could be released on NNA Tapes (Tredici Bacci). Run For Cover Records (Boston, Massachusetts) is releasing the new album, "Paradise" in August 2022.

The likes of Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus, Emma Stone, and Elle Fanning all presented awards during the evening, which meant that the Oscars red carpet wasn’t short on sheer star power.
