Self Aware! Yandere! Leon Kennedy × Player! Reader
Leon S. Kennedy was never a religious guy, never has he sought out God even during his darkest days. So when he first felt the pull when he entered the gas station, he thought nothing of it, disregarding it as his hangover (idk how it works I have never been drunk!!!) or just his curiousity. But that curiousity turns into fear when he sees the policeman getting devoured by another person. Rushing out the store he bumps into Claire, whom he pulled to safety towards the police car close to them.
The next time he felt the pull is when he got separated from Claire. With a blurry vision and a skull splitting headache, his body moves to an alleyway he doesn't recognize but somehow comes out a block from the station, it's looming form attracting Leon's eyes. Quickly he rushes to it's gates, doging and turning away from the people that tried to bite him. He is successful in this endeavour and rushes to lock the gate, blockading the front doors after entering the station. After that, it's been a constant tug of war with that pull wanting Leon to go somewhere and him trying to go against it, ultimately succumbing to it since no matter what he does his body won't listen to his mind. All of his constant rejection came to a stop when after Marvin saved him from getting mauled by a person-- no, zombie, not matter how much Leon tries to deny it they are now flesh eating zombies, not the humans he thinks they are. Before he could go into a panic attack with the reality of what is happening, the sudden vulnerability comes a warmth that almost made him pass out. God, a diety, or whatever the thing watching over him is, he could could feel it, he could feel YOU. He thinks of himself as stupid as he realizes that all that constant pulling was you trying to steer him away from danger. The warmth around him becomes hotter and hotter as he thinks more about what you've done for him to keep him safe, a shiver runs down his spine not from the cold but the intense emotion of devotion that overwhelms him. He doubles over in pleasure, his mind clouding with thoughts of you. Kneeling before Marvin sudden tears stream down his face, one would think of him as crying in fear, but his smile and the feverous blush on his cheeks hidden by his hair suggests otherwise.
He might not have sought God on his own but the deity watching over him definitely has, and he intends to keep that attention on him, and him only.

"Choices" Self Aware! Leon Kennedy x Gamer! Reader -- Part One
(A/N: Going a little out there with a self aware Leon Kennedy trying to get through his mission in Spain while not always in full control of his movements.
Hey, as someone who's first fanfic series was called Love Your Plushies on DeviantArt, this isn't too bonkers.
Giving Reader a gaming room to live the dream!
Warnings: forbidden love, angst, canon violence, slow burn, mild language, and multiple povs.
Word Count: ... words)
~~~
~~~
Perhaps late. Perhaps right on time. You were finally playing the remake of Resident Evil Four.
Light in the room was dim enough not to leave an annoying glare on the screen. No obvious reflection of yourself either. Always a bonus. A cozy atmosphere within your little gaming room.
You pulled at the blanket behind you on your supportive chair as the start screen loaded up.
Ominous music played through your earbuds and you almost instinctively became more alert.
"Ready to go." You popped your knuckles before reaching for the game controller. "Where'd I leave off with Leon?"
Loading to your last save point, the sound of distant rain gave an eerie sense of calm. The kind that made you glad you had a blanket and your back to the wall.
In the center of your screen, the man and hero from your dreams stood without his jacket for warmth. A little dark indoors, but he was safe.
"There he is," you said fondly.
. . .
Shaking his head, Leon felt as if he had awoken from a short sleep, like he dozed off. Yet the typewriter sat on a trunk and the locked iron gate sat exactly where he remembered.
And the nightmare continues, Leon thought bitterly. He just wanted to find Ashley and get out. Upgrading might not be a bad idea though...
"There he is." A familiar voice came from behind, happy and lively.
"Heh."
There you are. Leon didn't need to turn around. There was no one to see, but that didn't mean he ignored the mysterious voice. I wonder how long it's been for them.
Stepping around in a circle, he surveyed the small area at the foot of the stairs.
"Oh, yeah." The voice spoke again. "This was after the freaky large spider-wannabe jumped a guy up there... And Ada. Definitely needed a break from all that."
You and me both.
Of course, he could've said so out loud. However, Leon had yet to speak to you directly, the mysterious faceless voice. He was busy surviving the mission and you were --
He walked up to the hooded figure.
"Nothing but the finest wares!"
You were busy controlling his main movements. Most of the time. Making choices he likewise might have overlooked or would not had gone out of his way to do.
Are we going to sell that Extravagant Clock now?
Oh, you did more than that. Between selling what Leon had no use for and checking for future upgrades on weapons; he was grateful you repaired his body armor.
It's good to know they have some sense, he thought in relief.
Throughout Leon's mission thus far, he without a doubt knew you wanted nothing more than to help him. He had heard you multiple times. In fact, he'd grown quite accustomed to your commentary: yelling at infected, scolding anyone or thing that landed a hit on him, giving words of encouragement specifically for him when he otherwise just wanted a break, and the ever endearingly soft "I'll get you out of here, Leon.". He didn't know anyone like you. Heck, he didn't know where you were!
He wondered how long you would be joining him this time. Two hours? Less? It depended on your schedule and he would only know if you spoke up. That's how he knew more time went by for you.
They can't be too bad if they're helping me, Leon thought. Unless this is messed up too. No one else seems to hear them.
Turning in place, Leon was soon directed to the typewriter.
"Just in case," you murmured as the other man spoke to Leon.
Thinking ahead as always, he mused.
Using his elbow to make the large weight drop, the gate opened to the darken sky. Fiery torches lit the expanse of the castle. A creepy laugh sounded out of the tall speakers overhead.
"That's creepy." You commented while steering Leon in the direction of the closest barrel to kick.
He walked further and something whizzed passed him.
"Hey." You directed Leon back to take cover and quickly take aim through a scope.
Enemies up on the far tower were shooting at Leon. A couple of headshots later and he put the weapon away.
"All right." Leon said before moving forward.
Ahead a draw bridge lowered and a lot of men stood ready.
"Oh, you were expecting me." Leon quickly grabbed your weapon of preference.
Seeing the wooden shields and hearing one guy chanting, Leon was glad you were having him keep a distance. For that moment.
"Save him for last," you murmured from behind him.
It all happened rather swiftly and without incident. One suplex included, which he knew impressed you specifically aside from a well aimed kick.
Leon ventured inside the next section, with its multiple gateways per room that made you justifiably suspicious.
All was fine of course until he was running extremely low on ammo.
"Stop latching onto their heads," you growled at the infected. "You look like off-brand little xenomorphs."
That's a description. Leon continued downward to more surprises.
"An ornate necklace," you said. "Fancy."
Didn't I just sell a clock? Leon wondered as he pocketed the necklace. Ornate. Why did they say that as if it's its actual name?
"I need more gems...," you mumbled. Your voice was so close Leon couldn't decide in which direction it originated.
But he couldn't see you either way and ignored how heat rose up his neck.
No sooner had he finished with the jewelry, his leg swung out toward an enemy too close for comfort.
"Whoa. Quick moves," you commented.
Quick reflexes, yourself, Leon thought as you guided him upstairs where a small arrow descended painfully.
"Hey!"
With you thoroughly not having it, Leon took down two more guys before finding the figure with a crossbow. One calculated shot and fire cascaded down onto the last guy.
"That's for shooting Leon."
Distractedly, his stomach flipped.
Just grab the supplies and keep going. Leon thought and rapidly ascended a set of stairs that lead atop of the building again.
Torches blazed and darkness loomed. Further ahead and rising from behind a wall stood a large, white-masked infected.
"What the heck is that?" Your voice rose from somewhere ahead.
The large infected roared.
"Another one? You guys are really starting to become a giant pain in my ass." Leon groaned out.
"Crap. Crap. Crap."
. . .
Heart rate rising, you opened the inventory to craft healing herbs as fast as you could.
"That thing is freakin' huge."
Using a mixed herb, you watched Leon's health go into the green. A more comfortable health considering how at that moment you are fearing for Leon's life.
CRASH
You took a couple of firing shots at the hulking infected and watched on in no surprise that it had no effect on it.
"No use! I'm just wasting ammo."
"Okay, okay." You steered Leon off to the right and hopped down.
"Time to move!" You rushed him forward towards another tower.
CRASH
An open gateway welcomed you, but so did a ladder beside it.
"Crap it."
Leon climbed up.
"Please be good. Please be goo-- AH!"
CRASH
Another roar sounded from the infected.
More than anything, you feared that any hit or long ranged attack from that huge thing would knock out your precious Leon completely. So any amount of hope could lay anywhere.
Atop of the tower was a sight that brought a cheer out of you. Yellow barrels, an herb, and a chest.
"Let's go! Thank you."
Leon gathered the necessities. Plus a gem.
Back down, Leon was safe from attacks inside.
Was I already here?
CRASH
"Seriously?" You nearly shouted as Leon took some damage from flying debris. "Leave my boy alone...man."
Huffing, Leon kept moving forward.
You know what? This is good. It's fine. I... THE GUY!
Leon hunched forward indoors.
"Nothing but the finest wares!"
Grabbing your water bottle from the desk, you took a generous swig. It was always good to remember to stay hydrated. You can't take care of Leon if you haven't taken care of yourself.
"Repair time."
Zooming through the options, you had him repair the armor before anything else. Buying First Aid Spray was among the list. The usual routine.
After clicking out of that menu, everything out the gateway sounded much worse than it did when you started playing today.
"Don't get yourself killed now, haha." The hooded figure laughed.
Leon reloaded before you saved the game again.
"Just breathe," you said.
ROAR
Off to the right, in the distance, the huge infected continued throwing parts of the fortress.
"Go, Leon, go."
After crossing the draw bridge, you had Leon crouch behind the wall. He was lucky thus far.
WHAM
You gasped as Leon flew and tumbled off to the left.
"Shit! Sir Ugly's got me beat." Leon pushed himself back up and trotted into the tower before him.
You grimaced when you took a glance at the curved health bar.
"And I totally went the wrong way a minute ago." You groaned, "I'm sorry, Leon."
Rushing Leon, you did your best to have him avoid flying boulders. Technically it wasn't boulders, but still. You were doing your best to find something to use against that behemoth of an infected.
"These guys are really just annoying now," you said as you had Leon kick a walking infected.
Climbing up, you hoped it was a new area for Leon.
Cobblestone flooring lined the room. Some sharp fencing stood ahead.
"Yes! A cannon! Hope it works."
The relief in Leon's voice, no matter the amount, made you smile.
"It better work. That guy's huge. Can we drop a tower on him?"
You shouldn't had been surprised when more infected came after Leon. You really shouldn't have.
"Hey!" You gasped seeing one infected wielding an axe and another one attacking.
BANG
"Next?" Leon sassed both confidently and tiredly.
Seemingly clear, you did the usual: gathering items and set up for what's next.
The cannon went up to the roof for position.
It was the moment. The next answer for the huge obstacle.
CRASH
Leon rushed to the cannon. "Get ready."
"We got it. Come on," you aimed at the large infected.
The cannon fired and disgustingly hit its mark through the infected's face and sent it tumbling over the edge.
"Oh!"
"Adios, you son of a bitch."
"Sí." You aimed the cannon elsewhere.
Wooden doors blasted open.
"All right, open for traffic," Leon brushed back his hair.
You shook your head fondly. "My door's open for traffic," you said with a short laugh.
Pulse lowering more, you eyed Leon.
Still good.
Finding your way down or rather Leon's way down, he headed towards the newly opened doorway.
"We'll get a bit of a break, right?"
No sooner had you asked that a burst of sound hit your eardrums.
Both wooden planks and Leon flew up into the air.
"WAH?" You looked on in horror at the screen. "LEON!"
ROAR
Leon scrambled up and across the huge infected as it tried to hang on to the ledge. Huffing, Leon made it into the tower to safety. Relatively. Then dove forward as the thing reached for him.
"What the crap?" You clutched your chest, heart hammering.
Leon walked forward to the ledge and stated, "Sorry. I've had my fill of you guys."
You exhaled and sunk into your seat for a moment.
And this isn't even the end of the game.
What else was there ahead of Leon?
What other shapes would danger appear in?
Could you get through it successfully?
A large, intact area was laid out below. A courtyard, perhaps.
"Ashley? Where are you?"
"Hopefully somewhere safe enough," you replied.
You eyed the hedges below, but had Leon move on.
Indoors you heard crying and were relieved to see a cutscene.
"Ashley." You cheered softly at the sight of the blonde.
Thank goodness. And...no bad guys?
Stretching your fingers, you listened in on Ashley and Leon's reunion. Totally without getting all teary-eyed.
More than anything, you knew they both needed a cure and a vacation from the terrors they faced. Plus time to recover from whatever was sure to come next.
He's so respectful of distance.
After speaking with one another, the screen faded away from Ashley.
CHAPTER END
"Ooo buddy. I love them so much," you rubbed at your eyes for a couple of moments. "Wrap Ashley in a blanket and hug Leon for a few hours."
Zipping through results, you saved immediately.
"One more chapter wouldn't hurt." You reasoned.
Again, your view started on Leon's back as his phone rang. You weren't quite sure how safe that would be in a more critically dangerous situation.
But you had complete faith in Leon.
You only needed to make sure he reached the end of the game. Preferably without watching him die on screen.
A call from Luis requesting Leon to save him wasn't exactly on your gaming bingo card.
"Looks like we have to rescue la princessa," you grabbed your drink again.
You had a feeling it was going to be a long journey still.
"I'm right with you, Leon. You got this."
. . .
Rushing across the red carpeting towards the very next enemy, Leon's vision became blurry for a moment. A moment too long for him.
"The hell is happening?" Leon took a shot at another cloaked figure attacking him and grabbing for Ashley.
The figure fell, ended. There were still so many appearing from behind corners or from where one chanted.
"Reload, reload, reload." Your stressed voice came from behind him.
Hurting and jogging between furniture, Leon wasn't comforted by the panic in your voice.
But they sure have hell of an aim.
Rounds of gunfire and chanting filled the space. The same evade and destroy. Survive.
Yet for once he wasn't alone. Leon had Ashley to protect and lend a hand. Which was better than the threatening alternative.
"Crap this. His health is low." You said with a huff.
A grenade flew from his grasp before he could fully register having grabbed it.
BOOM
Leon wiped the sweat from his brow.
That's all of them, Leon thought as he raised a walkway. He and Ashley could continue.
"Making progress!" Ashley announced encouragingly.
Leon moved forward. "Look at Miss Positive."
"I am and she needs to be home away from this loco place," you panted.
You're tired? Leon almost said out loud, but he frowned when he swore he heard slouching of water by his ear before a small cough from you. Where are you when we're escaping this hell hole?
"Eh. I'm sweating."
He glanced over to where your voice sounded close by. Mouth open, he almost spoke directly to you. Almost.
Leon had so many questions for you.
Among them: How were you caught in this mess?
Were you in danger?
Was someone making you control Leon?
What else did you know about the infected?
What else did you know about him?
Why would you care so much?
Leon turned yet another corner.
"I'm gonna get dizzy with all of these twists and turns," you murmured.
Hearing the water again, Leon's eyebrows pinched together briefly.
Do they feel alright? Again, Leon considered speaking to you, but that would only frighten Ashley. Speaking to air -- a voice only I can hear? Yeah, definitely not concerning.
Coming up to another shiny gate, Leon heard your quiet sigh.
The hairs on the back of his neck tickled as it warmed. He shook the image of lips out of his mind as soon as it appeared.
He wasn't alone, but he couldn't even truly find you. His constant companion: name unknown, location unknown, and commentary unrestrained.
What happens to them when this mission's complete?
"Leon! Watch out!" Ashley alerted him as a robed infected ran towards him holding a scythe.
"Cool weapon," you stated flatly.
Leon blasted the guy. Then once within reach, ended him easily.
Two more walked closer. One with a wooden shield. Both taken out without much trouble.
"Huh!"
"Okay. Cool. Let's keep going." Your voice sounded less enthusiastic as Leon figured the many turns inside the fancy fortress was indeed tiring you out.
Guess they don't live in a place like this, Leon reasoned to himself. His mind wondering briefly what your home must be like.
The next room they found themselves in wasn't as lit up as the other rooms. Yet no less empty.
"Hey Leon, there's some armor. Bet you could use it like a bulletproof vest." Ashley pointed out playfully.
A lineup of four suits of armor faced the windows.
"Heh. Little old fashioned for my taste."
"Too bad. I think you'd look pretty dashing." She responded.
Leon added no further commentary as he investigated the room.
"He would look dashing," you murmured from somewhere by his head. "But you can't argue with a good cotton blend."
Swallowing down a laugh, Leon silently thanked you for guiding him onward.
"Or sweatpants." You added.
Definitely closer to my taste.
Further ahead, Leon had a feeling something was up. He leapt down where more statues and suits of armor were cast in light by wall-hung torches.
"Ashley, stay up there!"
"OK! Be careful!"
He went around investigating and kicking in a few items.
"She better not get grabbed again," you mumbled. Voice behind him at usual. "There's a lot of stuff to grab..."
Your suspicion made Leon more alert. You had not been wrong about your gut feelings. Even if you didn't clearly state it.
"Leon! The armor!"
Indeed, of all things, he could see after grabbing another piece of a larger puzzle, a suit of armor advanced.
"C'mon, you can't be serious!"
"How many are there?" You voiced as you guided shot after shot.
The infected sprung out from helmets.
"Hah!" Ashley voiced from above as fiery blue light erupted on the floor. "Look! It stopped moving!"
"What did I miss?" You huffed.
"I don't think they like the lantern fire!"
"Oh." You charged Leon in for a good kick. "Can you drop down another?"
Leon pressed the trigger instead of stating the obvious: Ashley could not hear you.
Then again . . .
Did you know Leon could hear you?
Another armored infected crumbled to the floor.
"Hey! Are you OK!?"
Leon ran towards where he had leapt down from.
"Yeah! Nighty-night, knights." Leon quipped as he caught Ashley from her descent and set her on her feet.
Your single laugh came out so fast, you nearly choked.
"You sure you're all right?" Ashley inquired with concern, "You're not burned, are you?"
"Nah, thanks for your help. That really did the trick."
"Hehe."
Leon meant what he said. Any actual help was good and appreciated. No matter the scale or the odds against him.
Why say nothing when one could let their thoughts be known?
Opening another passage via statue puzzle, they moved on along a long red rug runner.
"You don't think they're gonna move, do you?" Ashley asked as they passed more suits of armor posed with weapons.
"Probably not," you answered. "But I might yelp anyway."
Leon nearly shook his head before kicking another vase.
You sure did not mind searching for any little item or collectable that might assist him later.
Passing through another wooden floor, Leon found himself back in the familiar Great Hall.
"Okay...um. Ballroom next," you said before clearly stretching as evident by soft sounds Leon had heard from you before. "Let's check a few things first. And probably save."
A stop by The Merchant and the Typewriter later, Leon set the animal heads onto the statue.
Movement sounded close at hand and further away.
"Leon, the stairs!" Ashley pointed behind him.
"Stay back!" He advised her. Leon freely held up his gun with full control.
In a moment, golden cage bars sprung up around him.
"Muetre." One infected growled.
Eyes on Ashley in direct danger, Leon gripped the cage bars. "Run! Now!"
She took off running as infected were quick to pursue.
Within the gate, an infected swung down at Leon, intending to harm, but he rolled out of the way. Leon begun shooting.
He had full control of his moments.
Dodging a fiery arrow effortlessly, he kept going.
"That's my Leon." Your voice seemed to float around him.
Experience, training, and maybe something more made Leon react with ease as if it was all well rehearsed. Using what he had helped him survive.
. . .
This Ashley POV is stressing me out, you thought. All this ticking. It's too much pressure.
Ashley climbed out of the elegant lift and headed straight for a gated doorway with her blue flame lantern.
"Leon!"
"Ashley? Are you OK!?"
My boy!
"Hang on, I'll figure something out!" She called out.
Meanwhile you were regretting not taking a break earlier. You didn't want to mess up helping Ashley.
More ticking.
Louder ticking.
This is going to take a minute.
With Ashley determined to save Leon, you guided her to clues.
And an exact time. Wow. Cool.
"Maybe..."
You smiled. On the job training, Ashley. You got this.
Ticking continued.
Clock arms whirled.
You yawned quietly.
The tall clock chimed.
"I know I saw another clock like this one..."
Sliding itself, a hidden doorway was revealed. Beyond was . . .
Spooky, you thought at the sight of billowing curtains and a steep staircase leading down.
Just beyond the foot of the stairs and an abrupt corner came another suit of armor.
Ashley screamed as the blue light within the lantern she carried stopped it mid strike.
"It's all good, nice and slow..."
You got this girl.
Another hidden doorway.
It made you wonder how many normal doors there were versus hidden ones. Then you would have to take into account ones that required pieces like a puzzle instead of using a cranking mechanism.
Another suit?
"Get lost!"
Move girl!
You kept hey moving quickly as rapid moving metal clanked on pursuit.
"Don't look back. Don't look back."
Okay. Okay. Move. Move. Move. You guided her around another corner and door. Finally!
The second clock stood in the semi darkness.
This place is expensive!
Ticking. Chimes.
A secret stairwell that looks really creepy with the swinging blue lantern!
Following the red carpet runner, Ashley found an elevator. Among a bunch of antiques.
"Come on. Come on!"
It's old. We're lucky it works, you thought as you stretched your legs. And-- crap.
Using the blue light, Ashley bravely stopped the advance of more suited infected before safely getting into the lift.
"Oh, thank god."
I'm here too. You waved to her back.
"I am done with armor."
How about a nice suit and tie?
Beyond the lift, more antiques occupied a larger room.
"Didn't I just say I was done!?"
Oh, no.
A bell is sorts sounded with a pull of a rope and the music went up through your earbuds.
Crap! She can't fight!
If you weren't sweating before, you sure were then.
Infected wiggled in the armor.
"This sucks!" Her scared tone made your heart clench.
Yet there was a puzzle to solve instead of a simple door to open with a handle. This was hard for her! She wasn't trained for that.
"Stay away!"
You rushed Ashley through the space, much too aware of how frightened she was to be there alone. All the metal clanking, the infected slithering, and music rising had your pulse going.
Last one!
The gate slid up.
Ashley ran. Across dust covered rug and stairs until she reached an all stone area. Pretty dark too.
Honestly, you wouldn't be surprised if you had to fight in there. Then again, this was Ashley. She didn't fight, but she was a survivor.
You were proud.
"The heck..."
A lantern...light puzzle? You squinted at the screen. Okay then. Uh. Is Leon just waiting? Like, I wouldn't mind him waiting at home here. Hehehe.
Puzzle solving commenced shortly. Thankfully.
Obtained Salazar Family Insignia.
Right. Fancy. You leaned towards the screen for a moment.
A blue flame extinguished.
"No, no... No, don't go out!"
What? No--
Dark armor appeared ahead.
"Again!? I've had enough of this!" Ashley bolted.
She was defenseless. Ashley had no armor of her own.
Unprotected and running for her life.
With each step along the hall, another suit came alive.
You needed to help her.
RUN GIRL!
By far, having to protect a character who was to be rescued felt alarming. The pressure to not mess up was high. Ridiculously high.
You had her run, crunch, and maneuver through "frozen" knights with every hope it wouldn't be a jump scare. Or worse, the end of Ashley's turn.
No more blue light shined ahead. Yet more suits of armor were ready as you guided her quickly and mentally cursed the elevator until it shut protectively with Ashley inside.
That was close.
Ashley panted, scared. But alive.
Until she rightfully screamed a short time later.
How is she supposed to get by? This poor girl!
Weave around, check map, run, crouch, and move.
Move, she did after, hopefully, one last puzzle piece was placed.
"All right."
Cutscene! Where's my boy? Man...
"Leon!"
"Ashley?" Leon called from within the caged area. "Are you all right?"
"Yeah! Give me a sec, I'll get you out."
Might need good therapy... Oh, gross... You watched her grab a key from a hand. No, oh. Kay!
"Hey! Try this!"
Leon grabbed the key she tossed and looked up in question. "Can you make it down? I can catch you."
That's a drop. You grimaced at the distance between the balcony of the floor above Leon's.
"Yeah, I think so."
Girl?
Leon nodded silently. Handsomely.
Then, of course, because she was out of your sight and Leon's, some red-hooded goon grabbed her.
What is that creepy guy?
"Ashley!"
Firing off shots on his own, Leon's attempts only made the goon take one glance at him over the shoulder before continuing on its way.
"Oh, crap." You exhaled. "This could be worse."
"Shit!" Leon growled.
"Oh, Leon..."
CHAPTER END
"Save, please."
Back at the main menu, you let yourself relax. Letting all the tension go.
Sometimes playing video games felt like a workout. Well, some literally were.
"Didn't expect to play as Ashley," you took off your earbuds and set them aside. "And now we have to find her again. And Leon's health should be fine."
Goodness, were you emotionally involved with the characters. You had ahead put in more than a few hours before this gaming session; so it put to reason you would feel something.
Perhaps you felt something a little more, a little stronger, for a certain agent you spent the most time playing with. Maybe a lot.
"Until next time, Leon."

Art by SARDINE! on twitter
Note: Helloooo, been a while, got a job, got fired halfway through writing this…. Yeah, life. This is highly self indulgent, highly inspired by my own struggle when I still had my job. Very short as well. I'm posting it here a few days after releasing it on AO3, don't think it did very well, not sure if I like it that much either (I feel like I write better than this usually, pff) but here you go. Anyways, fuck capitalism, have a good read!
You come back from work, exhausted, depressed. All you need, to be buried in your boyfriend's arms. Leon X GN!Reader
My brother in Christ had today been a hard day…. you had taken this job because you needed it to survive the bullshit that is capitalistic society.
You’d worked there for a few months, and things had been okay for the most part, it wasn’t even that hard of a job. You could consider yourself lucky. But lately… Jesus… You don’t know what it was but, you were getting tired, anxious. Was your life all it was supposed to be? Didn’t you have any other purpose that could animate your life? Or was it just supposed to be, wake up, work, wait at the end of the month to get your pay, spend it on rent, food and things that could potentially give you the serotonin you lacked, for only a few moments. Then repeat.
Really? You desperately wished for something, anything, to free you from the shackles of this reality. But well once again, you needed the pay, and truly, whatever self worth you had left couldn’t just let you depend fully on your boyfriend. He could afford his rent and yours, could spare a few dollars on a Sanrio blindbox, a game on steam you’ve wanted to play for ages, or the third volume from this one manga you haven’t even begun quite yet, but according to what you’ve seen on tiktok, should be worth the read. Leon was a godsend. You don’t even know how you scored him, but well he doesn’t even know how he scored you either.
How could you be attracted to him? tragic past, tragic life, tragic mental state. Even his flirting was tragic! (According to Chris that is, but well, he wasn't one to talk either). And then there was you, constantly asking yourself what you could have possibly done to make him fall in love with you. You were so anxious, an overthinker, always trying to get in the minds of the people around you, instead of just, asking. But oh no! what if you asked, and then people hate you? You didn't talk very much either during gatherings, you were awkward, painfully so. But so was Leon actually, according to Claire (Chris's sister, Leon's.... friend? Been a while since you last saw her around), a few of his coworkers agreed too, mostly Ingrid and Helena.
You loved him deeply, and he did too, but the one thing you just absolutely couldn't let yourself do was, be fully dependent on him, as much as he told you that you could always quit and he’d take care of you, you had your mind set. You were not gonna depend on a man. As wonderful as it sounded, there was always this part of your mind that kept telling you, ‘What if you break up? Then what?’, ‘What if you rely on him too much?’. And somewhere deep in your mind, you just wanted to prove that you could take care of yourself.
“Baby? You okay?” damnit, you loved his voice, you wish he talked more, wish he were the one yapping away at his interests or about his day. But he was the listener in the relationship.
You hum in response looking at the time on your phone, jesus you’d been staring into space, thinking, for an hour. God, today truly was rough if you’d been dissociating on the couch ever since you came back from work. You didn’t even hear him coming in. And ever since that one time he scared you half to death, he made some noise, or just gave a greeting when coming in.
“hm…. yeah, I’m fine”, you were not fine.
“I called you twice, are you sure?” Oh damn you really were not fine… The blond comes sitting next to you on the couch, expectantly waiting for you to spit it out. He could see it on your face, something was bothering you, he’d never force you to say anything, but if he could help you in any way…
That was the problem with Leon, always helping everyone, he’d give, and give and give, until he had nothing left. Always the saviour, never the saved.
He was working on it ever since you forced him into seeing a therapist. But habits die hard, like the ember liquid he’d down from a shot glass every night. Or how he’d stop just a second too long if he saw a dark haired woman dressed in red in the crowd. He was working on it.
Aquamarine eyes pierce your soul, and you break. Letting yourself fall face first on his chest, arms around his waist. Instinctively a calloused hand comes combing your hair, while the other sets on the small of your back.
“Just wanna stay like this for a while…. please” the end of your sentence breaks, and his hand travels up under your shirt, tracing your spine with the tip of his fingers. Up, and down. Soothing. After a moment of silence, he whispers, scared to break your state of calmness, “Want to talk about it?” . You take a moment, inhaling his scent. “I don’t know… Just a hard day ” but usually a hard day doesn’t make you spiral like this, trapped in the depths of your mind. But today it did.
You take another breath “I just- I don’t really know what happened, I’m just tired, and, like, is this, all I was made for? Is there more I just haven’t found yet? Am I gonna be stuck doing this for god knows how long? What the fuck am I supposed to do? I-“ and it all came spilling out, although a bit muffled from being against Leon’s chest, but it still did.
It left you dizzy, and left Leon to debate on the right words to use. Thing was that he knew all too well what you were feeling. Ever since he was a kid, he knew what he wanted to be, until at 21 it was ripped from him, now he had only one option, he didn’t ask himself those questions too often, he’d been doing this for so long, what was even the point anymore? And in a way, he was still saving lives, it just cost him all that he had been. Rookie cop ebbed away along with Raccoon City. But he couldn't tell you this, Classified, all of it, classified, unless he wanted to put a target on your back. He hated keeping it all from you, but did he have a choice? When did he ever have a choice?
“You’ll figure it out, sweetheart, I know how this feels, you'll make it” he settled for this, albeit awkward, unsure if it was the right thing to say. But for now, it was enough, and you were too tired to keep talking about this, and anyway, the way he held you, and when you looked up, the way he gazed at you, he just wasn’t good with words, but it was enough, in the comfort of his strong arms, he understood you.

I think Yan!Wesker falling in love with one of his test subjects would be such a cute idea. He just thinks you're so wonderful, so unimaginably perfect that you only deserve to be with him. He so enamored, he just wants to know everything about you.
I think something like this could happen if a test subject that already peaked his interest was also compatible with uroboros. His divine ordainment must've brought you, his soulmate, to him! At least, that's the conclusion he comes up with.

-I use he/they. I mostly draw traditional art, and I’m aware my art looks a little stiff, I’m still working on how to do poses. Be gentle with criticism, because I may cry-
I’ve been lurking on Tumblr for a good long while, but I haven’t really used it or made an account, so bear with me :,P
I will probably post sporadically, as I tend to forget I have accounts in places and forget to use them, so don’t worry! Also my motivation comes and goes, so that doesn’t help.
I have ADHD, which is why I love so many fandoms, so be patient with me, I can change fandoms 10+ times in a single day, and that’s on days I take my meds, so nothing is gonna be consistent except for my chaos.
I TAKE REQUESTS AND ASKS ABOUT OCS AND FICS. I won’t make promises about rqs for art cuz that’s hard for me, but you’re welcome to suggest things!
Hope you enjoy your stay, thanks for reading my stupidly long list! <3

Resident Evil 7 Is One Big Evil Dead (2013) Reference
The stone walls of the basement in the Baker house are the same as the basement in the cabin theres even a flooded section. When they're in the basement, Mia slices at Davids arms just like Game Mia slices at Ethans arms. Mia hiding between the walls is the same as shimmying through the hidden passageways in the house. The tunnel under the shed is the same as Marguerites bug tunnel. CUTTING THE ABOMINATIONS LEG OFF. Erics bloodshot right eye is Ethans bloodshot right eye. The exploding balloon full of nails in Lucas' amateur saw trap pierces your hand if you activate it, Eric gets his hand impaled with a nail from the nail-gun. Natalie cuts her arm off with a saw, Ethan gets his arm cut off with a chainsaw. Mia cuts the abomination in half with a chainsaw, Ethan cuts Jack in half with a chainsaw. When Jack GETS his chainsaw scissors he says 'GROOVY'. The ambiant rain sounds are the same as the beginning of the game. Mia at the bottom of the steps looking creepy as shit is the same in the game and the movie. The switching back and forth between possessed and real personalities is the same. The phrase 'JOIN US' is prevalent. Marguerites constant swearing.
ALSO!!! The family dinner scene is strongly inspired by the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie I know this because I looked it up. Because I cant not.
And I don't mean any of this as a BAD THING. I think its GREAT. Capcom said 'Resident Evil needs to be scary again' so they looked at the scariest, goriest, freakiest, most GRUESOME shit they could find and it WORKED. Re7 is the scariest godamn game in the franchise, and its because the Capcom team took inspiration from other great horror. God I love when franchises inspire each other. RE4 was so influential for the genre. It inspired/influenced Dead Space, Gears of War, The Last of Us. Just. So fucking important for horror games.
Idk man it just makes me so happy to see Good Horror influencing more Good Horror. Theres always a fresh take to give things. Theres always new ways to spin the scary <33
#Honestly I think thats why I love Scream so much. Theres so much CONTEXT people miss about that movie.#Like all the marketing. ALL of the marketing advertised Drew Barrymore as the final girl.#Everyone went into that movie thinking they knew what to expect. She dies in the first 10 min.#Neve Campbell was a complete unknown#no one knew what to expect from the rest of the movie. Scream set a new standard for self aware horror and its just. So good#evil dead 2013#resident evil 7

Yandere!Self aware! Leon Kennedy x Player! Reader pt. 2
To be the person whose deity's eyes are cast upon is a bliss. This is what Leon feels, bliss. The slow descent to madness from being in this unholy situation is overwhelmed by your presence, your guidance and warmth suppressing the fear and stress. Truth be told he has not been paying attention to whatever Marvin is talking about but thats fine, you'll pay attention for him right?
He can feel himself flush, his insides burning hot with embarrassment and horror, though on the outside no splash of red can be seen on his cheeks. How dare he assign work to you when he is the one who is supposed to be doing everything? He is but your humble servant, he is the one who should be doing the task of listening to this boring police man, not you!
Leon quickly snaps back reality and luckily was able to catch where the emblems are located. Noting it down mentally, he descends to the western wing of the station after receiving a knife from Marvin. Progressing through the halls he thinks back to earlier when he was still trying to fight against your influence, he truly was an idiot. But he was still happy that he submitted to you sooner, rather than later.
A sudden crash of glass breaking pierce through his left ear, a groan following after. Leons body freezes up and a strong feeling of panic rattles his brain. He shot the corpse on the head within a second, blowing it up in pieces. The panic still flows through his brain but not the rest of him, on the contrary his whole body is calm but his mind isn't. As he tries to understand why the fear he is feeling is strange he soon realized that… It's not mine. I'm not scared, THEY are.
Hot rage courses through his veins as he glares at the lump of meat underneath him, his fingers itching to grab the leather grip of the knife and stab it. Again. And again. And again. How dare that thing scare you? Nonetheless, Leon can't do anything but just seethe quietly. After a while, he can feel the panic subside and his body jerks towards the stairs, walking cautiously. Nothing much happened after that, other than the licker almost nicking him, it was a very quiet journey. Going back to Marvin, the older man showed him the cctv footage of a girl outside, recognizing her as his companion from earlier. He felt relief upon knowing that she was safe from harm. He was then directed to the 2nd floor of the east wing where he'll be able to get her that way.
As he exits the doorway to the side extrance of the station a shout from below him captured his attention. Looking over the rails, the red jacket highlighted her form, of course it was--
"Claire!"
Joyfully he walks down the stairs, but as soon as he takes a step your warmth is gone from his body. Why…why can't he feel you inside him? Did you abandon him?? No no no… You're still there, he can feel your eyes gazing onto him but his body can only percieve the coldness of the night.
Even with his inner turmoil the show must go on. Without his permission his body moves perfectly, their conversation flowing so smoothly it was almost like following a script. However he knows that whatever is happening is unnatural, the smile he gives to Claire seems robotic, he tries to take control with his body but the only thing that he manages to do was to smile awkwardly, a brief flash of fear in his eyes. Even if Claire did notice she didn't say anything, just talking like normal.
Tuning back to their conversation he can hear himself speak.
"That's good. Any luck with your brother?"
"No, not yet."
He tuned everything out again because he felt disgusted being controlled by something other than you. Soon an explosion interrupts both of them, the sound of groans soon following. They look at each other with understanding and separated ways. Within a second, your warmth encompass his body and fill him with new vigor, the bliss returning as he realizes your departure was only temporary. Then his thoughts became more dark and more desperate.
The feeling of losing you, even temporary was heartbreaking. Him sensing you but not able to touch you was torture. But…he will bear with it, as long as you come back to him. So please, don't ever leave him again.

"Accidental pregnancy scare"
Thoughts on TF141 & International student neighbor ft. Alejandro and Rudy
Part One - Next - Masterlist
a/n: f!reader
Synopsis: One little misunderstanding surely won't do much damage.
You knew you’d messed up the second Rudy dropped his drink.
He was laughing at first. He was. That man had a distinctive laugh, and he definitely fit his newest job as a self-defence instructor for kids. He just gave the impression to be that good with children. Alejandro, on the other hand, had his eyebrows so high up that they were about to vacate his forehead entirely.
Knowing they spoke Spanish, you took it as a chance to dust the drawer in which the 'one month exchange in Spain' had been abandoned. You finished telling them a story; being flustered after an evil seagull stole your sandwich at the beach. "Me sentí tan embarazada," you said at length.
Except, you just made a terrible mistake. A little mix-up between languages. Who could blame you? Your brain switched languages every two seconds! Embarazada, imbarazzata, embarrassed... Why did they sound so similar? Was it really your fault if 'embarazada' meant 'pregnant'?
Which you were not. Not even remotely.
You coughed. Alejandro grinned like Christmas had come early.
“¿Embarazada?” Rudy repeated slowly. “You’re pregnant?”
Your heart dropped into your socks, under your shoes, under the pavement of the flat. “No! That’s not what I meant! I’m not—" You covered your face.
Too late.
The colonel, bless him, was already turned toward the lads, aware he was about to deliver a bombshell of gossip. “Did you know your little neighbor is pregnant?”
“Wot?!” Soap choked on his tea, beating his chest to avoid suffocating.
Gaz immediately teared up. “I—I’m not ready to be an uncle... Who’s the dad? Does he have a job? This requires an emergency meeting. We don’t have a contingency plan!”
Ghost stood up and walked directly to the window. As if the shining glass could track the identity of the mystery father... You were fairly certain he was running through a list of local male residents and assigning kill orders. Was it Jared from the butcher's shop? That boy had a penchant for dangerous endeavors, alas flirting with you when you accompanied Johnny and Simon to buy steaks. Perhaps Ray, the mailman, had lingered a little too long by your doorstep lately?
Price’s sigh could’ve powered the National Grid. “For Christ’s sake.”
Soap, poor guy, was pacing now. "Right, who wis it? Ah'll kill 'im. Naw, seriously, just blink twice if it’s someone we ken."
Encouraged by Alejandro's discreet sneer, you made a show of holding your stomach. “Oh, I just felt a flutter. Must’ve been the spicy fried chicken.”
The Scotsman nearly fainted. “You sneaky wee shite!"
“Y’lot are absolute idiots,” Price muttered, pinching the bridge of his nose. “Can someone get me a drink? Or a shovel to bury the rest of my patience?”
“I’m kidding! Not pregnant. Just linguistically challenged. Sorry, Kyle.”
Gaz stopped mid-sob. “Thank God. I wasn’t ready to financially commit to diapers.”
“Tha's it? No situation to… address?” Ghost turned. He sure was inscrutable, but you noticed the relieved glint in his eyes before it disappeared.
You gave him a look™. “Uh? Like you’d what, adopt the baby out of spite?”
He didn’t answer.
"Simon."
"I didn’t say yes."
"..."
Price just pointed a finger at both of your Mexican friends. “You two are banned from visiting. Indefinitely.”
Remember kids: Check your false friends before they give your neighbors a collective aneurysm. Or a reason to plan a shotgun wedding.
P.S. Yes, Simon would adopt the baby.

Based on a friend's mishap in Madrid.

I love dissecting Frodo's ("Lord of the Rings") personality and character arc through a Jungian lens, even if only as an amateur.
The One Ring, as an external object, represents the hidden darkness within all beings. It does not simply impose evil from the outside; rather, it reveals what already exists within, amplifying the ring bearer's deepest, often unconscious, desires for power, control, or survival. I see the Ring as both the Collective and the Personal Shadow in Jungian terms — a manifestation of the darkness that resides not only in individuals, but in all of Middle-earth.
By carrying the Ring, Frodo is in constant confrontation with his own Shadow — the hidden, darker aspects of the self, which Jung defines as "the thing a person has no wish to be". His journey, to me, is the psychological equivalent of undergoing Shadow work: he is forced to look into the abyss of his own nature, to confront his potential for greed, corruption, and even cruelty.
Unlike (my dear) Boromir, who denies his own susceptibility and is thus consumed by it, Frodo is well aware of his vulnerability. He knows what the Ring could turn him into, which is why he resists the temptation to use it. He has glimpsed the depths of his Shadow and understands its power. Because of this, he refuses to arm it. He knows that once he hands his Shadow a weapon, it may never let go. Thus, both in the books and in the movies, Frodo has not killed anyone. Professor Tolkien makes sure to remind us of it in "The Scouring of Shire".
Yet true individuation does not come from merely resisting the Shadow but from integrating it — acknowledging its presence without being ruled by it. This is the essence of Frodo’s transformation.
At the beginning of his journey, his understanding of morality is simplistic: good vs evil, deserving vs undeserving. He believes justice is about giving people what they “deserve". We can see this in "The Shadow of the Past" of "The Fellowship of the Ring".
'What a pity that Bilbo did not stab that vile creature, when he had a chance!'
But as he carries the Ring (undergoes the shadow work), he realizes that the line between good and evil is not external — it runs through his own soul (subconscious).
By the time he returns to the Shire, he has changed in ways that make it impossible for him to reintegrate.
His final refusal to kill the ruffians and Saruman (in "The Scouring of Shire"), even after Saruman tries to stab him, shows the full "glory" of his transformation. He could act in anger, but he knows that doing so would only feed the very Shadow he has spent so long confronting. He has seen the full potential of The Shadow (both collective and his own), and thus, he does not wish to "entertain" it but arming it.
‘All the same,’ said Frodo to all those who stood near, ‘I wish for no killing; not even of the ruffians, unless it must be done, to prevent them from hurting hobbits.’
But even as Saruman passed close to Frodo a knife flashed in his hand, and he stabbed swiftly. The blade turned on the hidden mail-coat and snapped. A dozen hobbits, led by Sam, leaped forward with a cry and flung the villain to the ground. Sam drew his sword. ‘No, Sam!’ said Frodo. ‘Do not kill him even now. For he has not hurt me. And in any case I do not wish him to be slain in this evil mood. He was great once, of a noble kind that we should not dare to raise our hands against. He is fallen, and his cure is beyond us; but I would still spare him, in the hope that he may find it.’ Saruman rose to his feet, and stared at Frodo. There was a strange look in his eyes of mingled wonder and respect and hatred. ‘You have grown, Halfling,’ he said. ‘Yes, you have grown very much. You are wise, and cruel. You have robbed my revenge of sweetness, and now I must go hence in bitterness, in debt to your mercy. I hate it and you! Well, I go and I will trouble you no more. But do not expect me to wish you health and long life. You will have neither. But that is not my doing. I merely foretell.’ "The Scouring of the Shire", "The Return of the King"
Frodo has ventured deeper into himself than most ever will, and though he has integrated his Shadow, the wounds remain. This is why he cannot stay — his journey has taken him beyond what the Shire represents.
Jungian individuation is the process of becoming a whole, integrated self — embracing both the conscious and unconscious aspects of one’s being. Frodo reaches this stage, but at a cost: wholeness does not mean happiness. His burden has re-shaped and changed him irrevocably, and though he has gained wisdom and knowledge of his "full" self, he has lost the ability to live as he once did.

First Encounter - Herobrine x GN!Reader
A one-shot I wrote around March, I think? This is in Herobrine's POV btw, I thought it'd be interesting to write in his perspective.
Note: This can be seen as romantic or platonic! Whatever you prefer :3
---
Summary: In which Herobrine meets the person he’d been stalking for weeks, only to be shocked when it turns out said person wasn’t scared of him.
Word Count: 2,255
---
Herobrine had not expected this to happen to him at all.
He hadn’t expected to run into you inside a dark cave. He thought he was alone, but looks like he wasn’t. You had bumped right into him with his back turned to you.
After spending countless nights watching—not stalking, mind you—your house from afar, he didn’t expect to have a proper interaction with you so soon. The only reason he was even watching you is due to the fact your house was in the middle of nowhere, situated on a huge clearing in the forest he happened to pass by.
He didn’t have any bad intentions—he was simply curious about how you lived your life and why you decided to live in isolation, thousands of blocks away from the nearest village.
Ever since waking up in this unfamiliar world all those years ago, he had been curious about the people who reside in this place. Taking mental notes on how they behaved, how they interacted with one another, and how their relationship works, but not once had he walked up to a person and greeted them.
No, he preferred being in the shadows, away from prying eyes and keeping to himself. He prefers it that way—especially after the first time someone had noticed him in the dark.
Herobrine wasn’t aware how uncanny his glowing white eyes were to people. He didn’t think much of it, only aware of the fact his eyes were different from others. He hadn’t expected his eyes to scare someone so bad when they did see him.
Perhaps that’s where the rumors started.
The ‘White Eyed Beast’ in the shadows, the ‘Man with White Eyes’ stalking you in the night, the ‘White Eyed Figure’ terrorizing villages and instilling fear into his enemies.
The rumors spiraled down until it morphed him into some sort of evil creature who roams the night, becoming a bedtime story to scare kids to prevent them from venturing too far from their homes.
He’d be lying if he didn’t feel some sort of thrill from that, no matter how frustrating it was for the people he had observed for so many years to turn him into somebody he was not.
Which is why he preferred being in the shadows now. It’s for the best if he was the one who stayed away from people.
That’s why it came as a surprise when you weren’t frightened the moment you realized who you bumped into.
You stared at him. Not in fear, no, you stared at him with something he hadn’t seen in someone’s eyes before. You stared at him with a hint of curiosity.
Your eyes took him in the dimly lit cave, the torch illuminating through the darkness. You could see his ragged and torn clothes, his messy brown hair haphazardly tied into a short ponytail, and the dirty bandages over his arms and neck. Suddenly, he felt self-conscious about the way he presented himself, never once putting in the effort to look decent enough for the public.
Besides, why put in the effort when he was always hiding in the shadows?
“You must be Herobrine,” you said to him, the realization dawning onto you. You tilted your head to the side, and Herobrine was silent, anticipating your reaction. “I never thought I’d bump into you here. Thought we’d meet somewhere near my house.”
Herobrine blinked at your words—you thought you’d meet him somewhere near your house? That meant you’d notice him watching your house from afar, and notice him stalking you whenever you were out and about. Was he not as subtle as he thought he was?
You must’ve noticed his stunned silence and let out a strange sound from your mouth. A soft chuckle that echoed in the cave. “What, you think I never noticed you stalking me? I can clearly see your white eyes from my window.”
Of course. His eyes. He’d forgotten they’d glow in the dark. Perhaps he should start wearing sunglasses to block out the soft glow emitting from his eyes. He never once figured out how to stop them from glowing.
“I did not think you would notice me.” He admitted softly, his deep voice reverberating in the cave, hoarse from never having used it in so long.
Another chuckle left your mouth and Herobrine found himself enjoying the sound. It wasn’t a scream of fear or anger, a loud voice telling him to leave them alone and not hurt them down. No, your chuckle was from amusement. You found him amusing.
“I did, but only two days ago.” You confessed, your eyes meeting his glowing, white ones. Not a single ounce or trace of fear behind them, which was still baffling to him. You weren’t scared. You really weren’t. “It’s nice to finally meet you, Herobrine.”
You told him your name, stretching your hand out. Herobrine took your hand, feeling the calloused palm against his own, and took note of your name, hastily writing it in his mind. No, your name wouldn’t be poorly written there. It would instead be etched in there, sewn on his brain and taking a ridiculous amount of space.
He will never forget it.
After your first meeting, you invited him over to your house. You noticed him standing in the shadows as usual before you waved your hand at him, gesturing for him to come over.
Herobrine was hesitant. Nobody had ever willingly invited him inside their home, not with a bright smile on their face, but here you were, inviting him over for some reason. You were patient, as he’d learn from observing you, waiting for him to walk out and head over to your house.
He stepped out of the shadows like a frightened puppy, hesitantly walking over to the hand outreached towards him, beckoning him to come closer and not be afraid. He could see in the dark well enough to notice how your eyes seemed to widen slightly, not expecting him to actually walk over to you.
Once he reached you, standing in front of you with the lights from your house illuminating behind you, you gave him a grin before you gestured for him to follow you inside.
He was met with the cozy atmosphere of the interior of your house. A simple living space with a couch and a fireplace, rows of chest on one corner of the wall, a small kitchen just off to the side, and a door which he assumed led to your bedroom. He had never stalked you long enough to know where the rooms of your house were.
Again, he wasn’t doing it for bad intentions, he was curious.
“Welcome to my humble abode,” you announced, walking over to where your dining table was—a variety of warm food resting on top of it. Baked potatoes, cooked steak, mushroom soup, all of which Herobrine knew would taste delicious. Two plates with forks and spoons were set on opposite sides on the table as well. “Thought I’d invite you over to dinner since you’re always around my house.”
Herobrine was once more stunned by you. You were actually inviting him over for dinner, which is why you had called for him. “Dinner? I do not need food.”
In all his years of being in this world, not once has Herobrine found himself in the need for food or water. His body didn’t require the typical consumption other people would need, setting him even more apart from the people around.
You frowned at his answer, tilting your head once more—a habit he noticed whenever something confused you. “But, you can still eat, right?”
Herobrine nodded. He was curious enough to try what food tasted like. “Yes.”
“That's good! That means we can still eat dinner together! I’d like to get to know you more, Herobrine,” you said, a smile replacing the frown on your face.
Herobrine found himself liking the fact he could make you smile for some reason. He was used to the terror in people’s eyes. Your casualness towards was something he wasn’t.
You gestured him over to the dining table as you sat on your side of the table. Herobrine followed, his footsteps creaking underneath the wooden floor as he sat across from you, taking in the amount of delicious meals set on the table. Your smile never wavered from your face as you watched him, delighted to see him accept your invitation.
The rest of the evening went quickly—time seemed to fade into the distance as you both spoke to each other. Well, it was mostly you speaking to him. You were as curious as a cat, shooting question after question towards him and somehow, Herobrine didn’t seem to mind answering your questions.
In fact, he was delighted someone wanted to know him beyond the rumors spread about him. You mentioned at one point you wanted to know the person the rumors spoke about instead of outright believing such false information. You even admitted you weren’t sure if he was even real.
That got a snort out of him—something he never expected to do with anyone in his years of existing. He hadn’t felt this relaxed or comfortable with anyone for years, and the reaction on your face when he had laughed was priceless.
He found himself asking his own questions as well. He wanted to know more about you, too. Sure, he had… shamefully memorized your daily routine after weeks of observing you, but he wanted to know more.
It was only fair considering how you bombarded him with questions, too. An exchange of information, if you will.
By the time the dinner ended, it was almost past midnight. There wasn’t food on the table anymore, plates all empty. Herobrine didn't know how big of an appetite he had until he saw there wasn’t any food left. It was strange, considering he never needed food. Perhaps your cooking was simply too delicious.
Herobrine only realized the time when a yawn escaped your mouth.
“You should head to bed.” Herobrine mentioned, rising from his seat. “It is late. You need your rest.”
You let out a tired chuckle, the exhaustion clearly catching up to you. “I guess you’re right. I am getting tired…”
He nodded, looking over the empty plates on the table. “I will help you clean up.”
He didn’t know where the offer came from, but he felt this urge to repay you for the dinner you had prepared for him. To repay you for being curious enough about him to let him inside of your house. Repay you for wanting to speak with him instead of running away when most people would do.
“Thanks.” You replied.
Wordlessly, he piled up the plates, placed them near the sink, and went to wipe the table clean of crumbs, all while you watched silently. Your arms were crossed as you observed him, just like he’d observed you from afar.
Herobrine pursed his lips into a thin line, pausing what he was doing to face you. “What is it?”
“You really are a lot different from the rumors,” you started, your arms crossed over your chest. “I never expected you to accept my invitation.”
Herobrine nodded slowly, understanding what you meant. He wasn’t like the person in the rumors after all, far from it. He resumed his cleaning, “I did not expect you to invite me for dinner either.”
You smiled at that. “Looks like we both surprised each other, then?”
“That we did.”
Eventually, you walked over to the sink, turned on the faucet and went to washing the dishes. Herobrine was almost tempted to offer to help you with that, but he let you be, having a feeling you wouldn’t let him. He’d seen how independent you were—considering you lived in the middle of nowhere.
The night soon came to an end. Dishes washed, table cleaned, and stomachs full of food. Herobrine stood by your front door, his hand on the doorknob as you both bid your farewells.
“You know, you’re free to come visit me anytime now.” You had said to him before he was about to open the door. He turned to face you, brows raised in surprise. He was allowed to come by and enter your house now? He had thought the dinner would be a rare occasion.
Seeing his surprise and how quiet he’d gotten, you continued speaking, and he heard that hint of amusement in your voice. “As you already know, I don’t really have visitors and you’re the only person around for blocks. It’d be nice to have someone to talk to from time to time.”
Herobrine nodded, his grip on the doorknob tightening. “I see. I will come by and visit when I can.”
You gave him that charming smile once more. “Great! Thank you, Herobrine. I hope we can become good friends.”
Friends. He echoed in his head.
Not once had he thought of ever gaining a friend, but considering you were here, treating him like an actual person and not some legend—he didn’t mind it. In fact, everything you’ve done so far didn’t bother him like he thought it would.
“Yes, I… hope so, too.” He said, turning towards the door and swung it open. Looking over his shoulder, he bid you goodnight, your name rolling off of his tongue before he stepped outside, returning the wave you were giving him.
Friends.
He would certainly enjoy being friends with you.
