First thing! I made a couple patterns! This is for a class, critique is tomorrow and I am so over this project. Patterns are hard to make apparently but I'm not mad at the way my fish one looks. The spooky one looks terrible and I'm so sad about it.

Physically printed these out too bcs they're digital which was kinda cool. I need to learn how to make prints and all that so it's a step in the right direction.

in lieu of tf fanon, can we all just agree that the fanon around seekers is just WAY too pervasive???? genuinely. why is seeker fanon Like That. why are seekers sometimes treated as a whole exotic subspecies. i feel like people got too attached to starscream, looked at the silly color swapped jet models due to budget in the original 80's cartoon, and just decided to invent a new kind of weird robot racism. sorry that this is on the bitchery side of anons but weirdly set-in-stone fanon stuff like seekers is what turned me off from reading tf fanfic

The answer to this, that is 'why is seeker fanon Like That', is gonna by necessity involve some discussion of NSFW stuff so I will cut this. But it's kinda. Necessary for the topic, lmao, so. And I do think it's worth actually going through ig. I've seen a lot of folks recently express this exact irritation and confusion, so...

OK so the honest answer: a good chunk of it's just fetish porn tbqh. And people, they are horny for those jets, lmao, and Starscream, exactly. Kink with some worldbuilding scaffolded around it as setup. Which to be clear, when someone is straight up just like 'hi, here is some cheerfully self-aware kink about breeding and shit, do not read too hard into this fantasy nonsense as a coherent narrative- we are here for horny egg laying and the implications will not be expanded on beyond that' I am usually like 'yeah cool go for it!!', lmao. Not my thing, can still go places in execution I'm like 'uhhhh think this through better please' about ofc, but like. Kink's kink, and all. Pretend adult fun times engaged in with full self-awareness are fine, a lot of the time.

My irritation really comes with when this bleeds into stuff that is taking itself seriously and is uhhhh. Not that? Or when it's engaged in by people who clearly don't have a level of self awareness about the above. And the answer is... IMO it's just regular fandom racism tbh, with an extra layer of obfuscation over it because it's got the fantasy analogue thing disguising it. Some people enjoy a lot of tropes that derive from certain strands of commercial genre romance, and honestly a lot of classic SFF as well, that are based in things they do not fully realise are rooted in racism, or any number of -isms tbh. And there's also a lot of people who sort of do notice, but they still want to keep enjoying those things without guilt, so they try and take the underlying logics and apply them to fantasy constructs or whatever in the hopes this will make the thing they like Not Racist. (Spoiler alert: the issue is rarely who the tropes are applied to alone, and this basically never works, because humans have pattern recognition and know how analogies work.)

People like stories about Scary Barbarians, or Submissive Sexually Exotic Androgynes, or whatever. And then someone points out 'yeah but mate, those are racial stereotypes, have you heard of orientalism' or whatever, and people feel bad but they sort of. Want to keep enjoying those stories in a way that is not harmful! That strips out that element succesfully. So they try and write an alien fantasy version, but again. This doesn't actually work most of the time, tbh. Because humans have pattern recognition and the tropes, the logic underlying the ideas in the first place, are often the actual issue. Shrug.

And IMO, this is where you get 'biologically distinct races frametypes who are Just Naturally For Breeding' shit, or whatever other example I can pull out of the TF fanon hat, in ostensibly serious stories about geopolitical conflicts or serious personal drama, ones which expect you to engage with this as an actual framework for how a world could work and not just as a loose excuse for 2000 words of smut. It's not as though canon is totally immune to this to be clear- ask me sometime about how I feel about the mess that is functionism being an analogy for 48563 things, lmao- but fanon is more pervasive because you're contending with decades of this stuff being super pervasive in fandom spaces and it becoming standard for fic. We were having discussions about this exact stuff like. When I was 15 on LJ, lmao. And it wasn't new then! I don't think it's anything unique; it's just got those extra layers of abstraction to sort through in terms of 'why IS this happening with these fuckin planes'.

Hey, sorry for taking ages to reply to your answer to my anon, I had a very long day yesterday, so I didn't really get much chance to come online.

Zombies is always fun to play, I sometimes play the bo1 zombies woth my little brother, the older ones just seem so much better than the newer black ops zombies, the new one just feels a little boring, the old ones were actually hard once you get passed a certain round😅 cod World at War zombies was probably my favourite tbh.

Haha well at least you were just happy to be there and enjoy the game though, games take a little while to get used to playing anyway, plus the more you play the better you'll be at the game. The halo games were so good back when everybody used to play them online, nobody really seems to play halo anymore though🤷‍♂️ the online games were always so good!

Yeah, that does make sense. Yeah we have bats over here haha, and the bat cave in the zoo is so good! The first time I went there a bat landed on my head😂 going to the zoo after dark to see the nocturnal animals sounds so cool! wait really?? in my old friend group we would play custom maps and zombies in WaW! i mean i was terrible at the customs but i played a lot of timesplitters 2 as a kid and the zombie minigame came in clutch 😂 but bo6 zombies is so so good!! like i liked cold war zombies cuz i want an open world resident evil a la the division but i want treyarch to do it cuz they nailed bo6 zombies like its round based like the old ones and theres two modes: standard and directed. im shit so i cant play standard without being carried a lil bit towards the end cuz the rounds are unlimited in standard and it gets chaotic in the high high from what ive seen 😅 the highest i got was 42 and it was insanity. if you play it in 3rd person it feels super arcadey plus its just so satisfying just mowing shit down 😂

yes!! i honestly had a blast it was basically like watching a movie 😂 i grew up playing CE and all i had were private matches with family but i didn’t play any of the others until last year and i hate myself for it. i wanna read all the books too 😅 but i still play! not online cuz i would get my ass bear but i’m currently playing through infinite 🤩 it’s one of my ‘i don’t know what to play to pass time’ games cuz you can just grapple around and fuck off it’s honestly great i just wish there were more enemies 😓 i do wanna try halo online but i think i wanna see if i can play through 4 and 5 first cuz im not sure i can handle it 😂

yeah no i absolutely i agree with you on it, it's just in the same way you've seen many people go "sunday's my innocent baby" i've seen. way too many people go "he's evil it's all his fault". or "sunday would be pro eugenics" (seriously, tf is up with that one)??? so my intention here was just to kind of also put the focus on why he even became that way

sunday was as we pointed out simply the better victim for gopher, since e.g. robin, someone who is steadfast in her beliefs, would've questioned anything in relatance to ena. sunday was the more malleable one, the more insecure and sensitive one. he was the one who at some point wouldn't question it at all anymore.

i think you went into it very well: he was made like this by others, it's his responsibility to get out of it. however i feel like we sometimes forget how difficult it is to get people out of this mindset? at the very least, i've seen many people ignore it when talking about him, which is why i put my focus on that in my tags (bc obv you and i agree he was groomed, but there's been too many people who i've seen absolutely deny that or the effects it had on him).

i mean, unlearning abusive behavioural patterns is already hard. there's already a lack of therapy options irl to get people who got groomed by cults, extremist political groups, etc. out of these mindsets. because they're taught not to question it at all, that people making them question it are undeniably evil, etc. so it's immensely difficult to get through to them, or for them to question their worldview

sunday's responsible for his own failings, definitely. he could've tried and approached robin, or listened to the astral express until it was too late. however i still just prefer to put out the reason why him ending up like this was also just put in stone. gopher knew he'd be less likely to question it all, so he was not only the best victim but also the most predictable one.

it's still his own failing, because he could've put his trust in robin once she knew what was up. he had many chances to do so, he didn't take them. he didn't even give her a chance to help him. so yeah, it's on him too. i just personally also prefer to point out that barely anybody in his situation wouldn't have turned out the same

the responsibility lies on him. and now that he realizes where he has went wrong, he has the responsibility to change his ways and make amends for the harm he has caused and could've caused. because even if everything went well in the end, he still caused quite a lot of havoc. he still acted patronizing towards people (even his own sister), believing he alone could make the right choice (which is also why himeko's line towards him is so good, "witness the will of the weak". to sunday all weak people are in need of protection and characterised by an inability to act. he hadn't witnessed the will of those he considered weak before)

in a sense i think the way things went down also simply was the only way he could realise what is wrong about his beliefs. because everything was out of his control, and he was forced to see that even the weakest of people can have strong wills and achieve many things. furthermore, he couldn't put all the people opposing him into the evil reguster. aventurine? sure. ratio? a scholar of the ipc, sure he could be evil. boothill? a wanted criminal. but the astral express? known as good people. robin, his sister? he knows she's a good person. so if even people who he beliebes to be good people oppose him so strongly and lrove him wrong, it forces him to open his eyes. i simply doubt he could've done so on his own in a different setting. so now that he was forced to come to that realization, he has the responsibility to change his ways and do better.

he in that sense kind of reminds me of a queer kid who was raised to be really queerphobic until they were hit in the face with their own queerness, thus now forced to look at themselves and change? i think that puts it well. someone who fell victim to their environment, caused harm to people because of it, and has the responsibility for that and to change their ways now that they realised their wrongdoing.

so basically tl;dr: i entirely agree that he's responsible for his failing and that it's his responsibility to change his ways. my intention was just to put into focus why he ended up in that situation to begin with. i think shoving all the fault onto him without acknowledging his environment is stupid. i also think people who try to take any responsibility away from him to turn him into an innocent victim is stupid. he has nuance, he's both a victim and perpetrator. and i think it's why he's getting added to the astral express. to actually change his ways and rethink his beliefs

Sunday’s worldview sucks, his outlook and perception of himself and others sucks… and that’s why he’s so interesting

In honor of his drip marketing releasing tonight (or maybe yesterday for you depending on when I get this out), I’d like to talk about why I think Sunday’s beliefs and perspective is very, very flawed and how his own biases rather than the actions of those who oppose him are what led to his downfall.

Sunday is entirely responsible for his own failure, and that’s exactly why he’s incredible.

This contains mentions of leaks and spoilers for the Penacony quest line… you have been warned

To start with, oh my lord do Sunday’s preconceived notions kick him in the ass. 

I think the best example of this is his conversation with Dr. Ratio in which Ratio pretends to betray Aventurine, selling out his plan to Sunday. Now, what’s incredibly interesting about this exchange is that Ratio doesn’t fully lie to Sunday once in this exchange, rather he says half truths and makes vague statements which Sunday himself interprets as being in support of him. 

Take what Ratio said the whole, “A scholar knows their position and wouldn’t forsake it for the sake of petty pride.” In retrospect, we know this line is actually referring to Aventurine- aka Ratio is saying he’s not just going to sell him out to Sunday for the sake of information about the Stellaron (which he would get anyways if the IPC attained Penacony, plus Mr. Incredibly Dedicated Knowledge Spreader probably has other means of gaining it then through The Family). 

However, since Ratio answered the invitation Sunday gave him, Sunday assumes that Ratio is on his side, believes his cause is righteous, and that he won Ratio over with offering him information about the Stellaron, therefore making that previous statement of Ratio’s null, because Sunday interpreted it as, “convince me this is worth my time + prove to me you’re correct,” when it really meant, “there is no way in hell I’m about to sacrifice my friend to you, and there is nothing you could offer me to make me do so you crazed lunatic.”

But why did Sunday not weigh the options? Why did he unquestioningly believe his perception of the situation was the correct one?

Well- partly it’s because Ratio and Aventurine were doing their damndest to make it seem like they hate each other and that their plan was going off the rails.

But the more important part is that even without Ratio saying a word or even accepting the invitation, Sunday already believes he’d be on his side. 

Let me demonstrate this through Sunday's perspective:

I am a righteous person, I am doing the correct things, my worldview is the correct one. Dr. Ratio is also a righteous person who seems to be doing the correct things. Therefore, since we are both on the side of good, and Aventurine is clearly not on that side considering his status as Stoneheart and his negative relationship to Ratio, then Ratio will naturally want to be on my side. After all, the good guys work together, do they not?- and together will vanquish this evil villain.

This perspective is a simple one, but Sunday’s unshaking belief (up until the end of 2.2) that he is 100% in correct and in the right, that any and everyone who he also perceives to be in the right (like Ratio) would believe/side with him without truly needing to be convinced. Sunday doesn’t come out the gate offering the Stellaron information- he only keeps it as a backup just in case. 

However, this is complicated because Sunday is also not an idiot, and he’s extremely paranoid, so he’s going to make sure that the way he views the world is 100% correct on the off chance he’s wrong which could foil his plans- which is why he invited Ratio in the first place. Nevertheless, this isn’t him hunting for new perspectives, but rather him desiring to prove himself right again, which is a bad thing because Sunday is very much not right. 

A perfect world is a perfect pris- *gets shot*

Reference that approximately 2 ½ people will get beside, Sunday’s ideology that he is fully confident in.. sucks. It sucks ass, it’s terrible, and let me explain.

I’m not going to try going over all the little intricacies to how the dreamscape works because I a) don’t know and b) don’t particularly care because they aren’t relevant to the argument I will be making- which is that Sunday’s ideology is inherently flawed and immediately falls apart under scrutiny.

Essentially, he desires to create the perfect fake reality, enveloping the whole galaxy in Ena’s dream and fulfilling their every desire and whim within it, with himself as the sacrifice to allow it to exist. The seven rest days, no illness, no pain, no challenge, you get the idea. 

And, this perfect world paradoxically sucks ass because of its perfectness.

Improving society is great, eliminating hardship is great, increasing quality of life is great.

But declawing reality itself- absolutely not.

I’m going to try to explain this through my favorite strangely specific anecdote- the process of obtaining diamonds in Minecraft.

Stay with me now.

You essentially have two options- go out and mine them yourselves the hard way, which takes hours, gives you less diamonds per the amount of time spent on it, and likely with you exhausting some of your resources like food, torches, and tools which you will need to replenish.

Or.

You can just.. get them from creative mode or commands, and you can get as many as your heart desires.

However, despite the fact that option one is harder, gives you less diamonds and takes significantly more time, I, as well as hopefully you, would pick it every time (at least in a survival world, although honestly idk why you would even need pure diamonds in creative).

And that’s because the first option is rewarding. 

You did not earn the diamonds you easily and magically summoned into your inventory, there is no struggle, no journey, no challenge to it, therefore it feels entirely unremarkable, as compared to the feeling you (hopefully) get from mining diamonds, which makes you happy because you earned it. Yeah, it was harder, but the process itself is fun- the anticipation of not knowing when you’re going to find them, if at all, the danger, the fighting and digging and mauvering you will have to do in the process.

And with this unconventional example, the fatal flaw with Sunday’s ideology is revealed- it’s boring. 

It’s boring as shit.

Yeah, for the first few months or even years it might be enjoyable- having everything you could ever want served on a silver platter. However, humans are a) inherently a bit greedy and b) desire challenge, and this scenario fulfilles neither of those things. Naturally having everything means your desire for more can never be fulfilled, leaving the wanter forever unsatisfied, whereas in the real world, things are truly out of your reach, meaning that even if you never end up getting them, they are still a tangible thing just out of reach… as strange at it sounds, we like being tantalilus-ed more than you think. After all, if what you want is so easy to get, you will never run out of things to want, and eventually that gets draining. 

Continually, if everything is easy, if everything is just right there whenever you want it- existence itself no longer has stakes. 

And that’s the problem, because much like how a story with no stakes is extremely hard to find compelling, a life with no stakes feels boring at best and downright pointless and meaningless at worst.

I’m just saying, there is a reason why the Nihility was such a strong presence and problem in Penacony.

Anyways, like with the diamond problem, a lack of stakes means that nothing you do feels rewarding, because you didn’t truly earn it. 

Which is where the Sunday’s idea of a “perfect” reality falls apart, because the most enjoyable reality for humans to live in is not one literally devoid of any possible flaw.

So why does he believe in it? When it’s so clearly flawed?

Well, it’s because Sunday doesn’t think a better alternative exists.

The world made you this way.. and you chose to continue what it started.

I’m sure I don’t need to repeat the story of the Charmony Dove all over again because trust me, we’ve all heard it before. Nonetheless, it reveals something important both about Sunday’s personality and his ideology- he’s fundamentally a defeatist.

He doesn’t believe that there is any alternative for the dove, that it could ever be able to fly again with its deformed nature, so instead of being “cruel” and letting it “inevitably fall to its death,” he’d rather keep it in a cage all its life where it has no freedom, but at least it would he alive and “happy”.

And this is where his defeatism reveals itself- Sunday doesn’t believe reality itself can get better because improving it when there are so many factors and things out of your control is hard at best and impossible at worst. Therefore, he resorts to creating an escapist, false version of it- a perfect golden cage, because constructing that is far, far easier than trying to help the dove fly again. 

The universe has endless possibilities, if Robin and Sunday had tried hard enough, they probably could have found a solution. Sure, they were both children, so the capabilities necessary to even attempt that were likely far out of their reach. However, it was still possible, but Sunday doesn’t believe in possibilities- he believes he’s right above all else, which is where that stubbornness and arrogance comes into play again.

Sunday doesn’t think better solutions than his exists, and he believes everyone would could possibly stand in his noble way are either villains, or horribly misguided; so it’s his job to show them the light.

This is why he lets the Express Crew + Firefly try to change his mind- Sunday wasn’t actually interesting in shifting his perspective, or really what they wanted to say. Rather, he just wanted to let them say there peace, because well, Sunday’s a good, righteous person (at least from his perspective), and good, righteous people listen to others. Good, righteous people will let these poor, ignorant souls offer their foolish words before exposing them to the harsh truth- or at least that’s how Sunday sees it. 

Moreover, this also explains his arrogance. If he believes his worldview is the sole correct one, then why listen to anyone else? He’s this world's savior, or at least he’s been raised to believe that- so why not relish in it? He enjoys punishing Aventurine, enjoys the bastard who stood in the way of Sunday’s plans, shrinks away in “defeat” and get what he “deserves.” Despite how miserable it sounds, Sunday also takes pride in having to be a martyr to bring about his beautiful dream. The belief that he is a selfless, good person is a selfish desire of his, even if a genuine one, and it’s what leads to his downfall.

Sunday could have actually listened. He could have reevaluated his loss to Aventurine and realized it was not through the others clever deception, but through his own biases. He could have actually taken the Express’s and Firefly’s advice. He could have looked for other avenues to help the people he truly does care about. 

Despite Gopher Wood’s manipulation- Sunday’s decision to go forward with the pain is entirely his own, because he truly believes- even with all the evidence for the contrary- that he is correct.

And that’s why he fails. Not because of the Express. Not because of Ratio. Not because of Aventurine. Not because of Gopher, or even the rest of The Family.

No, Sunday fails because he is flawed, and he is wrong, and he is the arrogant, selfish and biased one, and his worldview is wrong.

So what now?

This might have seemed like I think Sunday is pure evil and irredeemable, but I think it’s quite the opposite.

He has very good intentions, and he does genuinely care about it the well being of other people around him. He gives Aventurine a chance to prove his innocence, even if he never intended on changing, he does listen to what the Express + Firefly have to say. He pauses when Robin shows up, as she’s the one person (until the very end) he’s actually willing to accept the perspective of. The whole reason he ended up here in the first place is because Gopher Wood twisted Sunday’s good intentions into a fatal arrogance and utmost belief in a flawed worldview. 

However, what really sells me on Sunday’s goodness is when eyes widen at that final moment, the light draining from him as he realizes he is wrong. 

And once Sunday realizes he is wrong, those flaws that bind him can finally be examined and improved upon, as they all stem from that worldview he no longer believes in. 

His whole life, Sunday has been enacting out someone else’s plan for him, even if he’s come to internalize it over time, at the end of the day- it was never his, and without it, he’s empty.

Which is exactly why the only place he can go now is the Express, and the only thing left for him is redemption and growth.

Dan Heng is right- Sunday has a noble soul, and now that he has stopped believing in himself, he’s no longer shackled by the past either. Improvement or utter demise (in a likely nihility-flavored manner) are his only options remaining.

I understand a lot of people want to see him become a Stellaron Hunter, but imo, that just does nothing for him. He’d still be following someone else’s path/script, and Mr. I Will Sacrifice My Whole Existence To Become The Sun To Illuminate These Wandering Souls probably wouldn’t be so on board with the whole.. terrorism part of being a SH. Like yeah, they are our friends (kinda), but they absolutely kill innocent people and cause millions of dollars in property damage to people who don’t deserve it. 

Also, being on the Express Just Makes Sense. This is a game about choices, a game about accepting the mistakes of your past, but not letting them define you in order to move on and forge a better future for yourself and others- with the Astral Express + Trailblaze as a concept being the literal embodiment of it. There’s a reason when you switch to the Trailblazer’s POV in stories, it includes Kafka’s most important words to us- “When you have the chance to make a choice, make one you won’t regret.”

Therefore, I hope the choices Sunday will make in 2.7 are ones he’s proud of, and I can’t wait to see how exactly they get him on board with the crew, because there still is a LOT of development he needs to do before then.

Saturn aspecting Uranus - okay these guys are outcasted from society hard, due to some bullshit, but when they get recasted back into civilization they become someone who can change society at large- but its gonna take so much work... their perspective has been molded differently to most because they've been alone for so long. they have strange ideas that somehow work into tangible assets. perfect example : eminem - i mean hes basically best case scenario with this aspect, but hey why not try for best case scenario? but then again he made that hamster song... so i mean not always best case scenario... THats the price of neglect you could say lmao. Saturn aspecting Neptune - your imagination is your greatest challenge but also the key to your ultimate glory. like Michael Jordan had this aspect and well he was hella delusional. until he wasnt.... but its hard to say how much this benefited him... because both stages of his life - pre glory - and; glory - he was heavily isolated from everyone, and (likely) suffered in seclusion, by placing so much importance on his dreams. saturn wants you to master the 'spiritual world' i.e. imagination and dreams, and this causes anxiety that their dreams will just be dreams. which is what makes them put so much effort into it becoming real... then they realize the price of it all when its too late. so just make sure your aware of what your manifesting because if anyone can make it, its you. (achieving ur dreams) Saturn aspecting Pluto - how powerless do you feel. you do realize people can see how thirsty you are for respect/power, because they can sense your insecurity from past exepriences, and thats why your easy to play with. but do not worry. you will attain true power with enough effort. not just a bullshit image of power. because you've been pushed into the most vile trials to have ever have existed, and its only so that when you become someone powerful, you utilize your power properly, and do not step on others, because you know damn well how much it hurts to be stepped on. so your power is > saturn. your trials are so intense, and you're basically broken, but things that are broken know how to cut others (like broken glass). and well saturn wants you to master this > pluto > the darkness. and it makes reaching the top so much more palpable, because you'd feel like you earnt it. but you can make others insecure about what youve overcame so you better be humble, or saturn will fuck you. no honour among thieves, and we know you experienced that, but the kings play different, and you gotta adapt or saturn will flatten you.

Aw man is this intentionally worded to be really hard to answer? I get that it says ‘written’ and not ‘posted’ but then what constitutes a ‘fandom?’ I definitely wrote fics for stuff I was interested in long before I even knew the word ‘fic’ - I did it throughout my childhood, and then in high school, and while I didn’t do it as much in college, it still happened from time to time. So a lot of the books/movies/tv shows/plays/musicals I wrote things for aren’t really fandoms, and frankly, I had to check my old folder just now to even remember some of them existed. I’ll just list the ones that I know for sure had fandoms, since that’s more fun (and embarrassing), right?

Obviously Doctor Who, classic and modern, Torchwood, Sherlock Holmes (ironically more of these seem to be about the books, but yes, I will admit, some for that tv show too), Les Mis, a couple different Marvel comics & movies, Good Omens, hell, I even found a Night Vale fic in there just now.

And I know there are other older things not even in that folder, some of which never made it to a computer at all, so if I had to ballpark a number I’d probably say around 25ish but really, who knows?

Do you respond to comments, why or why not?

I try to! Sometimes I take a long time to do so but for the most part, I usually get around to it. The rare exception would be if I first saw the comment when I was super busy/distracted and then felt like way too much time passed before I noticed it again, that it might be awkward if I said something at that point.

I do genuinely enjoy hearing what people think, but I’m also weirdly terrified of making anyone feel like they have to reply to my comments. I know that’s probably a little strange, but it’s actually a large part of why I made this Ao3 account in the first place - my original one, from high school, is followed by some long-time friends of mine who aren’t interested in this fandom, some of whom are involved in art & writing professionally. The thought of anyone like that reading something I wrote out of friendliness or even just curiosity and potentially having to pretend they liked it for the same reasons stressed me tf out, so I like having this virtually anonymous one because I can relax knowing that anyone who reads or interacts with something I wrote has probably done so only because they wanted to, rather than feeling obligated, and there’s no pressure on them to be nice to me about it if anything I write or post annoys them - so I really hope nobody who does just know me as an anonymous blog has ever worried about offending me by not replying to something, trust me, I’m perfectly happy with it!

What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

I don’t think I’ve really written any angsty endings? I guess the answer would have to be Reckless just because it involves the characters arguing about sad/weighty things and there isn’t really any solution to those issues - but even then I think I ended it with a kind of acceptance that stops it from really qualifying as angst? I also set it in the the same universe as other fics, so maybe that doesn’t even count as an ending? Am I that bad at ending things on angst? Lol

Do you write crossovers? If so what’s the craziest one you’ve written?

Obviously none of the fics I’ve posted are crossovers but I’m trying to think now if any of my WIP’s are - I’ve definitely poached setting/premise ideas from other media, but in terms of actual crossovers . . . I’ve got a few cross-era or cross-Doctor, a few involving Torchwood, but that’s already the same universe, so the only thing that’d qualify as a true crossover would be some vague pieces of a fic where Jamie, Zoe, and Two end up on the Enterprise, since I think the 60s series of Star Trek and Dr Who feel kind of compatible, don’t they? In fact, aren’t there like officially licensed crossover comics or something? Or did I make that up? Idk, and the ideas are very loose, so it’s not much of a WIP either

Do you write smut? If so what kind?

I’ve never written smut, but I’m wondering if it’s possible that could change soon. There’s a longish multi-chapter fic I’ve been working on for a frankly embarrassing amount of time, and the plot does call for a sex scene at one point towards the end, but I can’t seem to make up my mind on how - uh, I guess the word is explicit? - it should get. I know I could easily do a fade to black/implication thing, but it’s kind of a source of contention and anxiety for the characters, so to skip over writing the actual scene and just revisit them afterwards rings of “and they slept together and now everything’s fine!” which feels kinda cheap to me - in this context, anyway - and not the right payoff for a long fic that’s otherwise more of an interpersonal drama/slightly a period piece, if I had to place it in a genre. I feel like my aversion to actually writing the scene might just be prudishness I should get over, or maybe just self-doubt, because I know I’d rather have a well-written, funny, character-development-supporting sex scene than nothing at all, but since I’ve never had any interest in writing a scene like that before, I don’t know if I can do it well, and I also don’t want to ruin a fic I’m otherwise proud of by doing it badly... ugh I have to figure this out

What’s your all time favorite ship?

I mean, it’s gotta be Two & Jamie. I’ve shipped things before with varying levels of investment, but I’ve never been able to use the term ‘otp’ in a literal sense until I came across them, and now it’s already basically gone out of fashion, go figure!

What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

I’m not sure if I have one? My WIP doc is huge, but I don’t actually intend to get around to finishing everything in it, so I’d like to think that anything I’ve currently singled out to complete can actually get done.

That said, I do have a few AU’s that I don’t really plan to finish, but it might be cool if I could. Two of them are for all the main + some supporting characters of the Second Doctor’s era - one’s a modern day school teachers AU, and the other is a typical fantasy/fairy tale AU. Another is just Two/Jamie, based on Doctor Faustus (specifically the Marlowe play version) but right now there are two different versions of the ending coexisting in my head. I’ve written parts of scenes & some gen. backstory for all of those ideas, but I don’t know if I’ll ever try to finish them, or what form a finished product would even take - a series of one-shots set in the same universe? one long multi-chapter fic with some kind of overarching plot? And the amount of context/worldbuilding a big AU like these would require might not make them very appealing fics for people to read, so maybe it is better if I just keep them to myself, since in my head I already know what’s going on in those worlds lol.

What are your writing strengths?

I honestly don’t know. I haven’t had a creative writing class since middle school, and since then I’ve only ever shown creative writing to others in a fandom context, so it’s been a while since I’ve discussed it or gotten critical feedback. I suppose when I work in other arts or even academic writing contexts, people usually say I’m kind of insightful or at least detail oriented, which might just be another way of saying I overthink things, but I like to imagine I’m decent at finding little points of interest to expand upon.

What are your writing weaknesses?

If you’ve read this far I feel like you must know what I’m about to say: I do not know how to be concise.

Usually when I’m writing a fic, I put down the dialogue first on its own, leaving out the action of the scene and whatever plot/context led there, even if I’ve already figured all of that out. But then when I go to add those things in, they’re always longer than I wanted them to be. I don’t mind writing something long, but I don’t want my fics to be a slog to get through either, and there can be a point at which the stuff I’ve added for context overwhelms the stuff that I wanted the fic to be about in the first place, so it becomes a structural/proportion issue too. I haven’t completely given up on any fics because of this yet, but there’s one I’ve been struggling with for a couple months now - probably because I’m even second-guessing myself on which scenes need to be written out and which can just be referenced like a recap. Hopefully I figure that one out soon.

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

((this is karma isn’t it? i posted a fic last week with two words of gaelic in it and was worried about that and now this is karma))

In general, I don’t want to do it. I feel like you’ve gotta have a really good grasp of a language to write dialogue & speech patterns for someone who’s a native speaker, and since I’m far from fluent in any language the characters I write for are, I wouldn’t feel confident writing any significant amount of dialogue in, say, Gaelic.

As a sidenote, though, I kinda love it when other people do it, particularly for Jamie. Irish (Gaeilge) and Scottish (Gàidhlig) are both languages I’ve wanted to learn for a long time, because my family’s fresh out of living speakers of either & I think that’s a shame, but I started with Irish and at the moment I’m still very much learning it. As different as they are, it still helps me understand parts of lyrics or texts that I come across in Gàidhlig fairly frequently, so when it comes up in a fic I get to feel like I’m being responsible and practicing, and it’s great when I can actually understand what’s being said.

What was the first fandom you wrote for?

I’m gonna go with Harry Potter even though that’s probably not a perfectly accurate answer - it’s almost certainly the first thing that has a fandom that I ever wrote for, but it was in a notebook when I was a kid and never something that I even typed on a computer, much less posted online or shared with other members of a fandom. But even then, I’m sure it wasn’t the first pre-existing fictional universe I ever set an original story in, because I did that a lot when I was a kid, it’s just hard to remember those clearly or on any kind of timeline.

What’s your favorite fic that you’ve written?

I’m very partial to Across the Gap, so I was pleasantly surprised to see that ranked first on the kudos thing above - but I’ve also got a soft spot for So Merrily We’ll Sing. It’s so self-indulgent it feels silly saying ‘it was so easy to write!’ but I guess having a fic that’s already just 100% headcaonons and fluff tied together by a song you really love does prevent it from being much of a labor (I also managed to refrain from making that one unnecessarily long, so that’s another win there)

Holy shit. This is like the 2nd or 3rd time from memory that I've woken up from a dream involving me and my other family. I don't remember all my dreams by heart. I don't even write them down but this shit is bothering me enough to finally say something and vent at like 4 am on Christmas morning lol. (run on sentences are sick)

I don't even remember all of the dream but I remember my dad showed up and whenever he shows up it's like Nemesis from RE3 coming outta nowhere and I gotta confront this dude. This time in the dream I remember I was doing something I think in my room. I think it was something like waking up in the middle of the night (wow what a coincidence) and then he BURSTS into the room talking about how I shouldn't be up this late and that I can't stay up all night. idk why tf he was mad about me being up late but CLEARLY the dude doesn't know about my horrible sleeping patterns and how late I stay up on a normal day. So, I called his bullshit and was like, "pfft I bet I can stay up for 24 hours easily with no naps. this shit is nothin."

I don't remember wtf happened after that but I remember he was going to try and fight/beat me or something and I was like "pfft go ahead" and spread my arms out like MASOCHIST and just start taking the hits. I don't even remember being in much pain I just remember the feeling of something touching me until eventually he starts purposely missing me and I take a belt and start whipping myself. He was so freaked out. By it that he just fucked off because there was literally nothing he could do at that point.

Realized he can't physically do anything to me to mentally change who I am and what my desires are. It was like I was literally Jesus Christ in the dream and was so enlightened to the point that I was just free. Nothing he said could've made me any different.

The rest of the dream from what I understand is basically just eating up whatever threat he had for me until he mentally lost the battle and I just went back to doing uhh idk probably writing music or something.

I clearly must have some sort of guilt for not talking to my family for so long but at the same time it's like every time I talk to them they always try to force me down this path and I'm just NOT having it bruh. The farther away I am from my family the better in that regard. I'd call them more often if they'd be more accepting of my shit but I also haven't been able to make money off of music let alone post a full project yet but I will in due time.

It's literally impossible to teach old people new shit because they get stubborn in their old ways GUARANTEED. So, I don't try and convince my grandma shit and I don't even talk to her about what I wanna do because she'd just be like "go to school for it" and completely miss the entire message. As for my dad, he's always been an intimidating person to talk to so it's hard to really say how I feel about a lot of shit because I genuinely do not know how he will react and that TERRIFIES me. I really hope you didn't read all of this. Like, seriously. You had all this time to read me rant about this and are even reading this part right now. HOWEVER. how tf are you going to redesign a MICROBE. plus the employee from packing pests might actually be wearing a new outfit, we wouldn't know that though because we only see his arms in remix 4. so what about sammy?? is he just so swag that nintendo was like "nah lets not redesign him"? some thoughts on roman

!!spoilers!! also my thoughts are never coherent so sorry

im going to preface this by saying roman and deceit janus are pretty much my favorite sides, so this episode Hurt

SO I think we all have seen roman’s increasing need for validation, and recently it seems like he especially wants it from patton. Back in SVS its clear roman wants to go to the callback, but hes also the one that ultimately makes the decision not to. 

Then we get DWIT. Granted roman was knocked tf out during most of it, but the times he is there its pretty clear he doesn’t have the greatest opinion of remus. I’d be willing to bet its largely because of how the others, especially patton, view remus; they literally call him “bad creativity.” Roman knows what they think of his brother, what he thinks of his brother, and has probably internalized that for years. Through the episode we see the others ease up, and I do think patton is genuinely trying to do what’s best for thomas, but it is incredibly hard to unlearn things- I think especially for roman.

Roman encompasses a large part of Thomas’ pride, so it makes sense he’d have the hardest time admitting he’s wrong- we saw this way back during the AA videos. We’ve also seen roman has a pretty clear-cut view of how things are - regardless of how accurate that may be. He was the one that came up with the term “dark sides” - effectively boxing everyone into two groups. 

But honestly? To a point I can understand why. In both “can lying be good” AND SVS roman was charmed into leaning towards the ‘selfish’ option, and it clearly didn’t sit well with him. So when janus is being genuine, and really trying to help? Roman refuses to believe a word he says. 

“how long must we act selfishly until Thomas is ready to start putting more good into the world?!”

When he says that, he’s frantically gesturing at patton, desperate for someone he trusts and cares about to agree with him. 

“he’s asking us to go back on things we’ve known for years!”

And then the name reveal. A MASSIVE act of trust, and roman laughs, just like he had done with virgil. He doesn’t know how to respond, so he lashes out. (granted we’ve seen this pattern in almost all the sides, but thats a different can of worms). Janus is understandably very slighted.

“Oh, roman thank god you don’t have a mustache. Otherwise between you and remus, I wouldn’t know who the evil twin is”

Roman is speechless. He’s hurt, confused and probably feeling a bit threatened. In his mind, thomas and patton have taken janus’ side, and therefore against him, even though thats not really true. He tries one more time to win their favor: “are you guys seriously going to take his side? Over me? Thomas... I thought I was your hero?” Thomas seems to be taken aback by this: “you are!” 

But roman doesn’t believe it anymore. Patton tries to help too. “roman... everything’s gonna be okay kiddo. We love you.” But its too late. He sinks out.

Heart? Broken. Views? Shattered. Trust? Betrayed. Hotel? Trivago.

Pollux hates mirrors on principle. 

He’s never liked staring at his own face; not because he’s ugly to look at, they made sure he wasn’t. He’s far from the picture perfect they made him nowadays, but there’s a history in his sunken cheeks and how his nose juts too far out from his face, the curve of it getting worse each time it gets broken. Three parallel lines across his temple and through his ear, a nick in his upper lip.

He hates mirrors for entirely different reasons, for the truths they don’t hide, that they reflect back in gritty detail. They don’t hide his flaws, the bags under his eyes, the limpness of hunched shoulders, the lack of warmth in his chapped lips he chews far too much. How he looks when he strips away each layer, staring hard at his face, whispering and willing his eyes to not make him look so utterly empty.

Pollux doesn’t like when people look at him—really look at him enough to remember, to see how he is so empty. To pick out the details and to know how he moves, how he exists as a marionette with cut strings, keeping the illusion he can move on his own. He keeps his masks well, pretends like his strings aren’t cut, but the masks and strings don’t work when people can see them.

People like Ortega and his static brain like a TV left on the wrong station, a low level nagging at the base of his skull, like reading a book when there are no letters on the page.

Pollux looks away, coming back to the cool tile under his toes, and an oversized shirt and pants that smell like musky cologne. Ortega is always kind in offering him his clothes, but all of his clothing is comically big on him, the sleeves long enough to hang down to knees, the pants a good six inches too long too. At least the shirt covers his arms and the collar is tight enough; he can deal with swimming in fabric.

Ortega insisted he not go back to wearing the clothes he dragged himself in with--not with how the smell of garbage was practically palatable--and Pollux wanted nothing more than a shower at the time. Compromise on the smallest things. Plus it wouldn't be a crime if he smelled like his laundry soap for the next week.

“Fuck, Ricardo!”

Pollux curses and lifts his arm enough to see the bottle of alcohol in Ortega’s hand along with the bloodied gauze and the look of frustration he’s giving him. It would be less funny if he didn’t have to kneel down beside him to reach the nasty cut still oozing blood.

“It’s not that bad, Pollux.” Ortega chides and he goes back to dabbing along the wound and Pollux winces, chewing his lip. It wouldn’t ordinarily hurt this bad, but it isn’t his own hands and Pollux has the right to be whiny for once in his shitty life.

It’s a necessity to show this much skin, shirt half rolled up and held tight, even if his stomach is flipping over on itself; one look, one wrong adjustment of his hand holding up the shirt and even with bumps and twisting paths of scars painted all down his side, there’s still a chance and he isn’t going to follow that train of thought. He only enlisted Ortega’s help because he couldn’t quite get twisted around to sew it up himself.

“It fucking hurts that’s what.” Pollux grumbles and Ortega’s breath is short, dumping the gauze in the sink with the bloodied cotton balls.

“Who did you go and have to pick a knife fight with?” He asks and Pollux rolls his eyes, fingers clenching on the rim of the sink.

“Someone in an alleyway without any sense.” Pollux breathes out as the gentle numbing starts to take over and Ortega sets the numbing cream aside.

“Wait,” Ortega looks up at him a little dumbstruck, “you got into an honest to god knife fight?”

Pollux blinks and he scoffs incredulously. “No it’s a fun new euphemism I came up with today—get yourself into a knife fight!” Ortega is glaring at his joke and Pollux’s face is going to hurt with the amount of eye-rolling he’s doing.

“Yes I got into an honest knife fight and didn’t have a knife. Guy came after me because I didn’t have any cash on me and he wouldn’t take no for an answer. Satisfied?”

Ortega tsks, a small “mierda” accompanying it and Pollux bites his tongue before he sighs, drumming fingers against the counter.

“I was coming here if that soothes your concerns.” Another compromise, tempering his frustrations.

“I could have come and gotten you. Saved you the trouble” Ortega huffs and Pollux rolls his eyes.

“No thanks.” Pollux shuts down that avenue without another word and Ortega is giving him a Look again. Pollux stares right back at him until Ortega gives up, eyes falling back to his hands as they thread the curved needle. Pollux chews his lip again and he silently breathes out.

“I’m fine, Ricardo.” Pollux speaks, trying for warm and quiet, but it always comes out like he’s trying too hard. “Seriously, it’s not that bad. Been through worse scrapes than this.”

Ortega doesn’t say anything and Pollux doesn't press, doesn't poke and prod to argument neither of them have the energy for. Ortega will forgive him before too long, content that he came by. Content that he asked for help for once.

Pollux picks at the caulking along the sink, listening to Ortega suturing the wound, the click of the needle and tweezers, a dull pulling sensation. The others only needing gauze or butterfly closures—simple things, ones he took care of when he got out of the shower. It was hard to stare at his own skin, to dissociate from what was staring back, but he needed clean wounds before comfort. Ortega finally ties the last knot, and it only takes a few more minutes to cover it up with gauze and medical tape to hold it in place. 

But he doesn’t pull away right away, no. His hand slides down across the peaks and valleys of the vicious scar down his side, brow furrowing like he’s trying to remember if he’s seen it before. He’s touched it in the dark before, traced its grotesque path from shoulder to hip.

It isn’t one he’ll remember, but Pollux lets him think, lets him touch. Lets him keep his head to himself; he doesn’t want to explain how he got it, the fall that lead to that night and the week after, nursing chemical burns and he knows the smell of burnt flesh too well. 

He’s got that look on his face, the one Pollux has seen far too much. The wrinkle in his brow, the curl of his lip; landmarks of pain--of blame.

“Ricardo?”

Pollux’s voice is quiet, a gentle call to bring him back around. Keep him from digging into all the what if what if what if. 

Ortega blinks and he half smiles, keeping his questions to himself--keeping the pain to himself. Pollux pushes aside the thought of how familiar that is, pulling down his shirt when Ortega stands.

Pollux stands there silent until Ortega has washed his hands, everything either thrown away or cleaned. Like how bandaging wounds isn’t something for the bathroom in Ortega’s apartment, but old habits die hard. Well, not all of them died when he hit the asphalt.

“Hey..” Pollux speaks as the lid of the first aid kit snaps closed.

“Hey...” Ortega repeats and Pollux clumsily steps closer, wrapping his arms around Ortega’s waist, pressing the side of his face to his chest.

“I’m sorry...” He apologizes, resting his chin against his chest to look up at him. Ortega’s brow cocks but he’s quiet, his hands settling against Pollux’s waist. “I don’t say that enough. Also thank you. I don’t say that enough either; need to start saying them more, just so you know. I’m....bad at saying what I should.”

Ortega sighs out his nose and takes Pollux’s face in his hands, thumb brushing across his cheekbones and across the trio of scars cutting from eyebrow to ear.

“You’re welcome, Lux.” He presses a kiss to his forehead for a long moment, gentle, kind, warm. Softer than he deserves. Pollux grips the back of his shirt, just letting the warmth of Ortega seep into him; he’ll be smelling like his soap and cologne for the next week. Might as well soak in as much as he can for now before it fades to cigarettes and lost dreams.

“I could get used to this sort of hug.” Ortega mumbles into his hair and Pollux snorts, fingers twisting his shirt into knots.

“Yeah yeah...” He grumbles, but he doesn’t say no. There have been more of those, more concessions and confessions; vulnerability painted in fluorescent lights or in Ortega’s pitch black bedroom.

“Are you staying the night?” Ortega asks and he doesn’t hide the hope in his voice. Pollux sighs and pushes away the dozens of reasons why he shouldn’t—why he can’t. He doesn’t have the strength to spin around a good reason why he should stay, too tired to convince himself he doesn’t want to be close, too tired to contain his hope that maybe one day things like this won’t be exceptions to his rules.

“Yes, I’ll stay the night.”

The wall opposite the bed is colored in dim orange, filtering in through blinds only half drawn to block out how even late into the night, Los Diablos still shines. Ortega’s mumbling into his stomach, face buried there, arm curled around Pollux’s legs and his fingers trace mindless patterns across the bare strip of skin at the small of his back. Pollux replies quietly to the simple conversation and it’s as mindless as it is comforting. It’s easy to play with his hair when he’s this close and this tired, twisting strand after strand into loose curls, leaving his head covered in them. He ruffles it all back to a mess and starts over, running his nails across Ortega’s scalp. Ortega hums quietly and a few more sweet nothings come out of his mouth and Pollux’s face flushes. 

Back in the days something like this would never have happened. Not in this way, not with how he wants to kiss the top of Ortega’s head and mumble sweet little things right on back to him—enough to scare him with how much he needs to say them, to tell Ortega all of it. Counting all the little things he needs to say before everything is ruined. How much he missed him and how scary that is, how much space he already has inside of his heart when he buried all of that away. Can’t make him hate when despair is easier. How terrifying it is that he’s breathing life back into him, back into the places committed to death.

It’ll be easier when he says those things, easier to let him go once and for all when he has nothing left to say, no kindling left for the fire. Nothing but goodbye.

But he keeps finding new things to say, new tiny little things he needs to tell Ortega; terribly sweet things he could never have imagined saying before. It’s all finding and forging new paths, finding a way to be like how it is now then how it was before. That was nine months ago his list is next to endless and they’ve had to reshape old pieces to fit into a new picture and craft new ones as well. Find new ways to paint a picture of what they are...if “they” are such a thing.

Ortega’s breathing has turned slow and steady, his chest gently rising and falling in the hazy orange glow from the street lights below. Pollux paints another set of curls across his head before his eyes get too heavy to keep open. He curls in just so, enough to kiss the top of Ortega’s head, whispering soft words into his hair, ones he can’t say where he can hear--where he can’t know. Because if he knows--knows how much those words really mean and to see his face when he does--Pollux doesn’t think he’ll ever be able to say goodbye.

FFVII Thoughts

-This whole thing with Jessie is so much filler it’s mostly unnecessary. Plus I feel like the whole impact of Jessie and her arc and even this filler is detracted by her being a former actress. Like I mentioned before I feel like her being an actress and known for toying with men kind of takes away from her crush on Cloud and makes it seem cheap. Also even though she’s someone’s daughter who is more tech inclined, I always thought of her as an engineer herself and like a former Shinra engineer that quit would have been a more powerful message than that of an actress. Even if you keep her Dad getting sick it adds an extra layer. Like say she worked in R&D and they like pushed an experimental mako enhancement for the plant too soon and she warned it would make people sick and it made her Dad sick. There’s a lot of ways her story would have been better and fit more nicely into the narrative. :/

-Even though Jessie annoys me, Biggs is kind of okay but he comes off to me as a little cliche. Wedge is kind of a little nicer.

-Aww, they took out the pickpocket on the train during the ID scan. That would have been a lot harder to deal with, but yeah.

-Good lord they stretched out these areas.

-Completely lost in this lamp and platform maze, but after a long time I finally figure out how to get out even with the items.

-Another maze and more reactor context change.

-Robot change where you can screw it over. That’s interesting.

-Yay Aerith!

-Out of that maze and yay they kept that scene where Aerith brings up Zack. Still not sure I’m liking all the foreshadowing cuz this was a spoiler in the original game.

-Tifa looks nice in that outfit. Like in general in this game though. They gave her a pretty thoughtful makeover that like captures the essence of her original profile, but also with some added tweaks in style that I actually like better. Like she didn’t have those thigh highs before, but those are a nice touch. And instead of her mini skirt her skirt is actually a skort and is pleated. Plus like the better boob support.

-Good lord Wall Mart is so involved now. So many alleys. Get out of the way yo!

-Leslie seems kind of cool, but I’m not sure cuz he works for a creep.

-Ugh hussle of trying to figure out how to get in. This sponsorship thing is new. I guess Corneo got more exclusive in this game.

-Yay! At least I got the cute dress. But real talk I kind of miss the old way to dress up Cloud only cuz I would want to see what the different colored wigs look like, but that whole storyline is very trans insensitive. Or even drag insensitive, so I understand why they changed it.

-Andrea is kind of cool. I was worried they were going to make him into some kind of flaming stereotype, but actually although he definitely has some flare, he’s a pretty well balanced character and none of the characters really judge him for his personal choices. Although definitely some judgement for the stuff they make them do, but that’s fair because you’re being subjected to it. Good on Cloud for following along.

-Okay time to take down this fat loser. So how does this work? How do you know who he’ll choose?

-Wait does he just choose Cloud every time? That’s a little less fun. I liked dressing Cloud up as the prettiest princess so that you could get him picked.

-This bit of them threatening Corneo’s private parts is still one of my favorite things. It was teh shock when I saw it the first time back in the day and I still enjoy it now.

-Alright climb the pillar. This is kind of slightly more fun with the extra scenes from Reno and Rude.

-Whoa, they saved Wedge. Cuz he originally totally ate it. Like straight fell off the pillar several stories and was unresponsive.

-Biggs and Jessie still die. That’s fine. I actually feel less sorry for Jessie dying than I did with the original. :/ I think because they managed to actually make her irritating with how over the top they made her.

-Aerith and Marlene is so cute!

-Helicopter shots are annoying, but I like hearing Reno. It’s sad that Fujiwara Keiji died two days after this came out. This is like the last thing he did probably. But his voice fit Reno really well. I don’t think it fit Ardyn well. Ardyn I think deserved a lower register, but I think Square gave him the part probably because of his diagnosis cuz I think Ardyn’s in-game struggle in a sense reflected his real life trials in some way only in the game he became immortal. Real life not so much, but immortalized in a sense through these works. I wonder if Square would have wanted it to come out sooner so that maybe he could have played it himself a little bit before passing, but they had to push the date for quality and stuff.

-I don’t know why, but I really like looking at Reno’s open shirt. Like I think the way they did his abs are a bit different from Advent Children. I think his shirt is even open wider than in AC. *checks* Yeah, it is. AC it’s buttoned up toward the top and just the top one or two are left open. And okay for real Remake has his shirt open even more than even in the original. Nevermind him buttoning up more for AC, but like in original FF7 polygon Reno and original Nomura art Reno looks like it’s only unbuttoned to about mid-pecs. Remake Reno is like down to like the top of his stomach. I guess I can’t complain about the equal opportunity fan service.

-Tseng is actually done pretty well, but I keep looking at him cuz he just strikes me as odd.... Oh wait is it his hair? Is that a hair tie? I don’t think he had a hair tie before. I think we were just supposed to assume he had his hair slicked back and kept in place by gel or hair spray. Also his face is interesting cuz I think they tried to make him actually look Chinese, but I think he just turned out looking kind of like Tamaki Hiroshi. Oh and Suwabe-san!

-LOL Rude carrying Reno like a rag doll.

-And there goes the plate. Oh, no, Wedge. I guess he did die. But the kitties. ;o;

-Let me explore Wall Market! Ugh, fine.

-That Kyrie chick seems kind of a little annoying. I kind of want to let Barret hit her. But I’m probably biased because I had a hot mess of a flatmate with that name and she like didn’t clean up after herself and left dirty dishes in her room and like pushed it up against her roommate’s bed. >.> Like passing responsibility over them to someone else. And I think she maybe broke one of my cups? And like tried to use my stuff without asking? Maybe stole some stuff too but idk. And like worst of all was like she sold her car so she could get money because she couldn’t hold down a job and like needed money and instead of like you know paying rent and bills, she spent it on shoes and make up and left the receipt out for us to find.

-Wall Market is...different in the day time.

-All teh quests.

-Okay Kyrie is still kind of annoying and stupid when you talk with her one on one, but she at least seems better than my flatmate.

-Oh old lady is the Angel.

-Findin’ all the birds. It kind of strikes me that they added this in cuz of how much time it takes to get places and it’s kind of like XV and even the XIV MMO, but not. I guess it’s a staple now with their newer titles because of how grand they make the scenery.

-OMG I got a chase this little asshole now.

-Okay so now Leslie. Leslie is a good guy after all. Not a bad new character too. Nice decent development and stuff.

-But gdi Corneo’s still alive. I mean, I knew that cuz Wutai, but ugh.... I think he deserved at least a punch in the face.

-Okay so anyway I guess I’m going up now. Just going to finish up stuff before I go past the point of no return. Get all teh things I can from the coliseum and all that.

-Climbing, climbing. Oops I missed a thing. Was I supposed to?

-Gdi this helicopter thinger is annoying. I can’t slash any boxes. Just kick them around.

-Oh okay so here’s the entrance.

-Shinra headquarters actually looks like a bigger version of Square Enix’s headquarters in Higashi Shinjuku. I’ve been there pretty recently and also like to cut through the office building to get to Artnia cuz I don’t want to walk all the way around. Decor and stuff and specifics are definitely different, but like the double tower U-shaped look with the walkway in the middle thing is very much how the building is in Shinjuku. Specifics with the stairs and escalators are also different, but kind of the same deal with some amount of ambient lighting at night time and the lobby and such is still mostly open in the evening for people who work late or want to pass through. Some of the doors being locked or like certain staircases and such being roped off are a thing as well. I just know this cuz I often go to Artnia around dinner time when I’m there, so it’s generally after hours already.

-I think even the parking lot situation might even be the same? I’m not sure because I usually take the subway and that let’s out into the mini mall downstairs, but parking if you go there and do that is like subterranean for sure and would be the first layer if it was on a plate.

-I mean, the HQ is also technically kind of on a plate also. Cuz the mini-mall is like below normal street level, but it’s like more cool with like a Lawson’s and restaurants. Coming up from the subway is also a lot similar POV-wise to coming up through grappling hook too in terms of perspective.

-Getting the key. Getting a glove on the way. This part is kind of cool. I always liked this part of the game in the original too and exploring an empty office.

-This is suspicious. I have to take a tour...?

-I guess this is interesting to learn about the company and stuff.

-Weird movie theater. Oh look a spoiler hallucination in the theater. It’s nice to see more of Sephiroth.

-Oh yeah the mayor. That’s a bit of a change that he’s secretly Avalanche. Whatever cool. Yay I got a weapon.

-I gotta do a battle simulator. Oh great I guess if I want items I have to sit here and do all the simulators.

-Oh look it’s Chadley. I have turn ins. Take my stuff.

-Okay so hike upstairs....oh shit they’re going in. Sneak slowly behind and like go around and explore stuff.

-Found the toilet. Haha. Tifa yells at Cloud if he goes in the wrong one. Good.

-This is a nice bathroom.

-Okay up in the vent.

-Interesting extra context and oh yeah Palmer saw Sephiroth.

-Hojo is more gross looking than I remember. Like piled on extra creep factor for him.

-Following into the lab. I guess I should be glad he wasn’t a dumbass and trying to mate Aerith with Red XIII.

-Interesting that it’s only now that they’re really making good use of Those Who Fight Further. I don’t think I’ve really heard it all that often before.

-Yay! Yamaguchi Kappei!

-This part getting serious with Sephiroth is appropriate, but kind of different with him starting to freak out.

-Oooh, Turks scene! It’s nice that they know they are fan favorites now and they put them in more scenes. I wish it would actually play their theme every time they show up like it used to. That’s what made them badass too.

-Aww, Aerith’s room.

-Interesting they are talking in Aerith’s room instead of getting captured and Aerith talking through the wall.

-Shinra science experiment...You’re probably not entirely wrong.

-Huh, wisdom from Red XIII. That’s different context.

-Wow, that’s different. Pointing out a different greater enemy so early. I guess it makes sense Aerith would know because of the whispers she hears, but also it kind of sucks the mystery of the progression of the original story.

-Dang, Sephiroth and Cloud confrontation-ish now? Not going to mysteriously take a body and stab the President?

-Oh joy another crazy rat maze.

-Hojo is definitely more gross than he used to be.

-Oh, nope. Just different order. There’s the trail of blood.

-Well, “blood���. Jenova blood is now apparently purple bubbling ooze.

-President Shinra is just hanging?! DISAPPOINTED. I liked it better when you just showed up and he had a giant sword in his back. Also wondering if you’d be blamed for it, but yeah, sword in the back!

-This is what you get for showing mercy. :/ Sword in back was better.

-Oh shut up already so Rufus can take over.

-Oh you get to watch the sword in the back.

-WTF. He’s not supposed to stab your party.

-Ghost things protecting fate is weird. But also I have some theories like the game is conscious that it’s a remake or something and for some reason they’re repeating history, but some things are different because people don’t do things in exactly the same way but certain things are fated to happen so they have to be preserved.

-Interesting that this game shows the cloaked figures going back and forth between Sephy. Kind of takes away the fun from years of debate on the subject about wtf is happening.

-And here’s Rufus. Still better than his Dad.

-I like that there’s more Turks footage than the original.

-Kind of nice that there’s more tender moments between Tifa and Cloud or rather we can experience them bonding more first hand.

-Did they make Wedge die in a different spot?

-Motorcycle bit is a bit different. Boss on motorcycle is kind of hard. Died once.

-I think it’s just cuz it’s a Remake that they added him here, but Sephiroth is at the end of the highway and I kind of think it sucks. :/ Cuz like it shouldn’t be like this.

-Why is Zack alive? Oh I think this is a flashback. Aww, this is supposed to be a hidden thing. ;o; Stop feeding them all the stuff. Let them find it.

-Whisper monsters...Okay this is just some kind of an AU. Like not really entirely a remake, but a different game in the same timeline cuz Sephy figured out somehow how to alter time and space. Aerith knows kind of what’s up because she became god essentially during AC. Would also explain why the game itself is giving away so many damn spoilers too.

-Holy shit, is Zack dead or not? D:

-Okay I looked up a thing and it said his death is ambiguous, but he’s never seen. Zack was an actual SOLDIER too so he could be a cloaked guy for all we know. But also at the end of AC it was both him and Aerith chilling together welcoming people to the lifestream so who the hell knows what she did.

-Biggs is alive?!

-So okay, if this is an AU things can change and I’m less gripey about the weird things that happened. Cuz it’s like just another pinpoint on the timeline that kind of has pseudo time travel and when you repeat things over again they’re not always exactly the same. I suppose for Square itself it’d be kind of boring to make an actual Remake because they don’t want to take away from the original and they want people to still buy that too cuz it was so good even though the graphics didn’t age so well. Instead they slapped Remake on a new title and trolled us all into thinking they actually did it when actually it’s like a timey wimey thing.

Madame Bovary (2014)

Plot: The film begins as Emma (Mia Wasikowska), a young woman not yet 18, is packing up her belongings and preparing to leave the convent to marry the man her farmer father has arranged as her husband: country doctor Charles Bovary (Henry Lloyd-Hughes). But she becomes bored and miserable in the small, provincial town of Yonville. She spends most of her time alone, reading or wandering in the garden while Charles tends to patients. Even when he's home, he either bores or neglects Emma.Emma longs for more—excitement, passion, status, and love. She shows restraint at first, when smitten law clerk Leon Dupuis (Ezra Miller) skittishly professes his affections for her. But she is intrigued by the dashing Marquis (Logan Marshall-Green), who makes more overt advances. Their affair emboldens her as she believes it gives her glimpse of the good life. She spends money she doesn't have on lavish dresses and decorations from the obsequious dry-goods dealer Monsieur Lheureux (Rhys Ifans), who's all too happy to continue extending her credit.

Ok so don’t get me wrong, it was an ok film but in no way will it be anything better than ok. I think for the lack of time he spent in the film, Ezra Miller played a brilliant role (then again I am rather whipped™️ for him). It was very, for lack of a better word, lacklustre in terms of plot. To me it felt like they were trying too hard to make us sympathise with Emma (Mia Wasikowska) which in all honesty pushed me to do the opposite. It was also extremely fast paced which made everything feel like it happened over a matter of days instead of over a matter of months which in some cases works. But for me it didn’t this time.

Moving on to the characterisation. Like I said, we were being pushed too much into sympathising with Emma that it was rather off-putting at times. It felt like I was being pushed into completely opposing my own moral compass. I found the character of Emma to be impossibly selfish in many cases, even going as far as completely ruining a stranger’s life simply for her own materialistic wants. And when it all came crashing down on her, she lies and when that doesn’t work yeets tf out by drinking some poison (although that left me wondering why a doctor carries poison in his medical bag. Desperate times?).

And that’s not even mentioning her infidelity. Being completely unloyal to a loyal husband with not one but two of his friends (and an attempted third if we’re counting the dry-goods dealer) simply because she’s bored (personally, I’d prefer knitting). 

Then there’s her husband Charles (Henry Lloyd-Hughes) who quite honestly didn’t get the credit he deserved in this film. But due to a lack of screen-time all I can say is that I wish they’d expanded on his character more but that he deserved a lot better than what he got. Sure he was rather inattentive and didn’t pick up on the atmosphere around him (i.e Emma’s facial expressions cause good lord they were THERE) but that doesn’t mean he deserved to be cheated on by a woman he was loyal to and may of even loved. And now the man of the hour. Leon (my man Ezra Miller).

I do declare that I love one (1) man. But no in all seriousness again, LACK OF SCREEN-TIME. But from what I could gather from while he was on screen was that the character had stepped right out of a Gothic romance novel. He was very romantic, the type to want to marry for love instead of business opportunities like the rest, who enjoyed the simple things in life. I’m biased but I can’t blame Emma for falling for his charm. Then again, I also know that it was opportunity she saw and not a person that loved her (*shakes fist in anger*). 

And last but not least Marquis (Logan Marshall-Green). No offence to Logan but I found this character rather forgettable. Perhaps because we saw him for all of about fifteen minuets. Blink and you’d miss him. But yet another man Emma tried to seduce of material things (I’m sensing a pattern).

Looking back on the film, a lot of it is very easy to forget and I think that’s because it felt very rushed, It felt as if the creators had run out of time and just threw what they could at it, crossed their fingers and hoped for the best. I don’t know. Maybe its because I watched it five years after it was released and the film just hasn’t aged well but it fell short for me. I could sense the potential for what could’ve been a very good film and it just didn’t happen.

(Loved seeing Ezra in a historical piece though. He looked like a young Severus Snape. But again, I’m whipped™️)

TWD 10x01: Lines We Cross - Details

Training Day:

Okay, let’s talk details! I mentioned how during Training Day, the boat reminds me of Beth and what happened to her. It’s half-buried in the sand, which may be part of the “what is hidden” theme. 

We also saw a walker impaled on an X-shaped piece of wood floating in. It reminds me a lot of the bear Cyndie and Rachel found in S7. It represents something floating in from the ocean that’s important. (Another set up for that happening in this arc.) And we’ve always associated the X with Beth. (X Theory).

We also hear Judith singing a song with the lyrics, “15 miles on the Erie Canal.” Yeah, that’s super important. It’s part of the bridge symbolism. I looked it up and it’s from an old song called “Low Bridge.” I don’t want to go into all the details now, as that’s a post unto itself, but I’ll try and get a post about it together soon. (Seriously guys, I’m going to end up with seven or eight different posts from this ONE episode!)

Then the kids dump out their buckets and find the skin mask. Notice the star fish, Xs in the buckets (X Theory) and the colors of the buckets: red and blue.

I don’t have a whole lot more to say about the context of these details than what I’ve already said. Judith’s song, Low Bridge, may represent all the bridges we’ve seen thus far, all the characters and arcs and death fake outs. And now, we’ve arrived at the Whisper War.

Skins:

Michonne tells Daryl to tell Carol not to leave again without saying goodbye. Definitely callback to Beth hating to say goodbye. But @frangipanilove pointed out something I hadn’t even thought of. By extension, Michonne saying this tells us that Carol DID leave without saying goodbye the first time. That makes her an obvious Beth proxy. Because at some point, she left Daryl and TF without saying goodbye. To be on a BOAT. Under the STARS (all details they felt the need to have Carol let the audience know about). And now she’s returned to him. Just saying.

When Michonne’s group (on the horses) split up, she and Aaron end up on a bridge. She says she lost Rick on one, which I said the other day probably foreshadows her leaving to find him soon.

When Magna’s group shows them the camp where the skinned walker is, it keeps showing skeletons with their rib cages showing. 

That always reminds me of 5x09 because one was featured so prominently there. 

Not sure exactly how to interpret it, though. Was 5x09 a foreshadow of the Whisperers? Definitely could be. Especially with the “Silence the Whisperers” graffiti looking so much like the “Wolves Not Far” graffiti from that episode. Or it could be the opposite: that this is a callback to 5x09, an episode in which Beth was featured. Either way works for me.

Also, this camp has a lot of Bethyl callbacks. Cans strung up and used as alarms, a blue sleeping bag, etc.

Then we also have Judith telling RJ about Rick, only disguised as the “Brave Man” in a story. I want to say two things about this. First, it kind of shows that every story they tell or read has a mirror reflection in something to do with the show. So, The Wizard of Oz, The Little Prince, Crime and Punishment. These are books we’ve seen on the show and have said we ought to be reading into them. This is proof of it because Judith is telling Rick’s story disguised as a different one.

The other thing that struck me about this is that Judith actually says Rick is dead here. Sort of. RJ asks if the Brave Man lived and went to see his friends afterward. Judith says no. He died and went to heaven. We KNOW Rick isn’t dead and Michonne is going to go find him. So, there goes the argument that just because Kirkman once confirmed Beth is dead, that means she is. Nope. Not necessarily. 

I also think Michonne’s line about how there are some people you would do anything for is a foreshadow. She names Judith and RJ as the ones she’d do anything for, but then RJ asks, “And my dad?” And she says yes. So obviously, she’ll go find him. We already knew that.

Bird Wisdom:

Okay, lots of bird references in this episode, which is important given that Beth is the song bird, and all other bird references we’ve had (Phoenix, Heron, Yellow Wagtails, black and white birds, the bird in 9x05 that pulled the worm out of the walker’s ear while Daryl watched, etc.).

This was the somewhat humorous part where Eugene measured Rosita’s baby, Coco. A lot. We saw paper birds being used for Coco’s crib mobile. Not unlike Gracie’s back in S10. The suns on the blanket covering her window. The suns may be part of the ABIBEL theory. The blanket itself looks like the one we saw in Beth’s cell in 4x01.

Couple of Beth callbacks I noticed. The baby likes music. When Eugene turned it off, the baby started to cry. Rosita turned the radio back on, and the baby was happy again, lol. But definitely a pro-music reference. Maybe Coco represents Daryl crying when he loses his songbird. He’ll be happy when she returns. Okay, kind of a joke, but it works, right?

Also, Eugene tells Siddiq to warm the baby’s bottle for exactly 5 minutes and 16 seconds. 5x16 was Conquer (end of S5) where we first saw the wolves (foreshadow of the Whisperers) kill someone in a red poncho. I think this is a significant reference as the Whisper War kicks off.

Actually, my fellow theorists and I were discussing this just last night and @frangipanilove gave me some insight into it. 5x16 was the first episode where we saw the wolves in a big way. And remember that I think the wolves foreshadowed the Whisperers. When Aaron and Daryl found the Wolf trap with all the trucks, many of them said “how the harvest gets home.” TD has long thought “the harvest” represented Beth. She’s definitely connected to the “home” theory. (Remember Carl telling Judith in 6x10 about using the North Star to find your way home?) So this is probably yet another way, just like Connie returning Dog to Daryl, of saying Beth will “come home” in this arc. Probably via the Whisperers in some way.

Also, later in the episode, Daryl mentions the home theme. He says to Carol, “why don’t you come on home, now?” I think that is for Carol and part of her arc, but it might also indicate that someone else will finally come home to Daryl.

It’s also been noted that Eugene’s chart of the bay’s growth and patterns looks like Morse Code.

Lydia and Negan strike up a conversation, which is kind of interesting. I noticed that they said everyone was on yellow alert. Aside from a Star Trek reference, it’s the yellow that caught my attention for obvious reasons. It’s also important to note that Negan is picking tomatoes. His job seems to be vegetable collection, much as it was in Carl’s vision of the future. That much of what he wanted has come true. I’ll talk about the significance of this a little more in my predictions post in a day or two.

Siddiq is going through some pretty serious PTSD in the wake of the beheadings. And there’s a new doctor in town named Dante. He’s super arrogant and I found him annoying. Yet, I had to laugh that they gave him that name. Super-significant given how many times they’ve used Dante templates for the story (The Divine Comedy and The Inferno). AND he’s a doctor? Not even sure what to say about this, but I’m side-eying it hard.

Negan and FG’s talk is very significant, but it’s hard to say exactly how yet. The reason being, I don’t think we’ve actually seen the entire foreshadow yet, and it’s hard to say what it will lead to if we don’t have the full sequence.

I’m sure that just confused everyone. Let me explain. Negan says he’s afraid of people lumping him in with the Whisperers and thinking of him as the bad guy again. He also says just being “on alert” feels to him like indecision. There needs to be a show of strength so people feel secure and don’t panic. Initially, FG rejects this, as he doesn’t want to lie to people. Negan says it would be manipulation, but may ultimately keep people safe. And then we see FG taking Negan’s advice by telling them to lock the gates and double the watch. He’s giving a show of force to try and make people feel more secure.

Now, I don’t think doing either of those things is necessarily bad when they think the Whisperers might be in the area again. But in the show, it’s being billed as a manipulation. And the fact that they’re addressing this at all tells me that something is going to go wrong. It’s probably going to backfire somehow. But without knowing how, it’s hard to know exactly what this is heading toward. That’s what I mean when I say we don’t have the full sequence. It ends after Gabriel tells the people to lock the gate. We certainly don’t see it backfiring here. So I’m waiting to see what happens with this.

That said, I do think they’re setting up an interaction between Negan and the Whisperers. In the CBs, he goes over to Alpha’s camp, not because he’s defecting, but to help Rick’s group. He ends up beheading Alpha. The show rarely follows the CBs very closely and I don’t think this will happen in the show. If anything, I think Carol will be the one to kill Alpha, whenever that happens. But given that Negan is talking about his disdain for indecision and needing a decisive show of force, I think they could be setting up something where he still goes over to the Whisperer camp, as he did in the CBs. I just don’t think it will end up the same way. (Incidentally, check out THIS POST for one possibility for the scene when Negan is in the Whisperer’s camp and how it might possibly involve Beth.)

I will also say that I think Negan’s interaction with the Whisperers may lead to Beth in some way. I’ll get into the symbolism that’s telling me that, later. Just know that I think what they’re setting up for him here is important from a TD perspective. And the Details we see in this conversation support that.

FG has “seriously” reference. So we have some Sirius/return symbolism. They talk about baby birds, etc.

Sea Dogs:

Connie and Kelly are helping to haul in a net from the sea. We learn the interesting fact that Kelly is losing her hearing. I don’t know about anyone else, but I always assumed Connie was born deaf. Yet, Kelly’s hearing seems to be degenerating, so maybe Connie’s did at one time as well. This, of course, is when we have the Connie/Daryl/”You seem to have lost something” reference, which I’ve already talked about.

Before she brings Dog back to him, Daryl and Ezekiel have a funny little conversation about bird shit and guano & whether seagulls taste like chicken. I suspect this may have to do with foreshadowing Ezekiel’s death fake out arc. Funny story: I totally thought bats were included in this convo because “guano” is technically bat shit. It can be used as a term for the excrement of sea birds as well, so the convo isn’t incorrect, but I just assumed Ezekiel mentioned bats, too. But he didn’t. Still, seagulls are white and bats are black. Similarly, bird crap is white and bat guano is black. (Yes, I totally googled that, lol.) I think the writers are having a little too much fun with this.

But just as we saw black and white around Beth’s fake out (her laces at Grady before and the ties on Daryl’s legs after) I think this foreshadows Ezekiel’s coming death fake out. I also think Daryl is involved in that death fake out somehow. We see more evidence of this in Daryl and Carol’s scene together. I’ll get to that in a minute.

There is also an artificial “guano” that is made from fish. So it’s all about the ocean theme, isn’t it?

Next, we see Daryl and Carol killing walkers together and get the Claimers callback. I’ve thought a lot about why they chose to use this exact callback here. I’m seeing two possibilities.

1. The Death Fake Out Sequence. Daryl met the Claimers in S4 after he was separated from Beth (their trial separation) but before the actual death fake out happened. Carol and Ezekiel are in that same place in the sequence. Carol leaving Zeke at the end of S9 was the beginning of their trail separation. And I do think his fake out is coming soon. (Perhaps in the MSF?)

In fact, you could think of Carol and Zeke’s brief hug on the dock as a mirror of Daryl briefly finding Beth in the hallway of Grady. Then the death fake out happens. Obviously, it happened in the same scene for Beth, and Ezekiel’s didn’t, but the sequence is the same, even if the exact timing is not.

2.    The second thing I’ve thought about is The Red Machete. We saw the Claimers there, as well as the machete traveling a long distance. So this could be yet another foreshadow of an upcoming journey for Daryl and Carol. That might result in them finding Legs. I mean Beth. ;D

New Mexico:

Daryl and Carol hunt a DEER together. We know the deer represents either a death or someone who should have died and didn’t. When the deer dies (5x10 for Beth; 7x12 for Rick) the person lives. When the deer lives (4x14 for Lizzie and Mica) the person dies.

But keep in mind that the deer doesn’t HAVE to be present directly at the death fake out. Again, we saw Rick’s in 7x12 and his actually death fake out didn’t occur until S9. We didn’t see Beth’s deer until two episodes after Coda. But, on the other hand, Carl’s deer (2x01/2x02) and Lizzie and Mica’s were both present when the actual death or almost-death happened. So it can be either.

So, here’s the gist. I’m fairly certain this deer foreshadows Ezekiel’s death fake out. The deer ultimately dies, which means Ezekiel will live, but Carol will be upset, because she thinks he’s dead.

Let’s look at the symbols in this scene. First, there’s this. This looks EXACTLY like the place in Inmates. 

Why is that important (other than a general callback to Beth, I mean)? Well, in this scene from Inmates, Beth sees the disembodied shoe. That’s another sign of the death fake out. They don’t use the exact same symbols for each death fake out, but several that are similar. So, for example, Rick pulled the shoe/foot off a walker in 7x12, which was also a symbol of his coming fake out.

So even though we don’t specifically see a shoe/foot thing here with Carol, I still think it’s important that they’re calling back to that scene in Inmates. It’s to hint that this is a foreshadow of the coming fake out arc.

I also said above that I thought Daryl would be involved somehow. This is why. At first, I thought maybe Daryl would stop Carol from going somewhere or doing something and that would lead to Ezekiel’s death fake out and she would be angry with him. But I’ve revised my opinion on that. I think the deer itself represents Ezekiel. Because we have the deer being eaten by walkers. And that’s exactly what we think happened with Beth. (Not that she was actually eaten by walkers, but that TF thinks she was.)

I think it’s more likely that, as with our other three death fake out characters (Beth, Glenn, Rick) Ezekiel will become surrounded by walkers and it will look like he’s going to die. As with the deer in this scene, she’ll want to run in and get Ezekiel and keep insisting there’s still time and they can help Zeke, but Daryl will hold her back, for her own safety, saying, “Stop. It’s too late.” And of course she’ll be angry and upset, probably more with herself than him.

Notice how it’s not until after that that she and Daryl start talking about leaving on the motorcycle.

I’ll lay this all out in a less convoluted way in my Predictions post, but I think this signals that Daryl and Carol will be prominent figures in the Whisper War. Ezekiel will have his death fake out, and sometime after that they’ll leave together. There’s a specific reason I think they’ll be leaving together, and no, it’s not because they’ll just be running away together. Even though they say that here, it’s just a foreshadow, but it won’t actually go down that way.

The show actually has a precedent for doing this. I’m having a hard time coming up with a stellar example. Here’s a semi-good one: Lizzie and Mica were heavily compared to Sophia through Carol’s dialogue with Lizzie. If I’d been interpreting symbolism back then, I might have said Lizzie and Mica would die, exactly like Sophia did. Now, they did die, and they were more children Carol lost, so the parallel is there. But they also didn’t die EXACTLY like Sophia, who died from a walker bite. Mica was killed but Lizzie and Lizzie was killed by Carol. So while they DID die, much like Sophia, what led up to it was different than how it was with Sophia.

Similarly, Daryl and Carol will leave together, but not for the reasons they lay out here. More on that to come.

The other thing I find interesting here (that I haven’t talked about yet) is that when Daryl says, “New Mexico” (which, let’s face it, is a pretty random suggestion) Carol asks what’s in New Mexico. He answers, “people who weave bracelets.” 

I had to sit and think about what this meant. Carol doesn’t question it (these two don’t question one another’s random lines much, do they? ;D) but it doesn’t make a ton of sense, and he doesn’t explain what he means.

Watching it several times, I think he just means them. Since Carol wants to weave the friendship bracelet for him, if they go, they’ll be in New Mexico. They’re the people who weave bracelets. (Yet more evidence that they will go there together at some point.)

But, extrapolating from their conversation, people who weave bracelets = friends. Daryl is implying they have friends in New Mexico. Yeah, that’s totally symbolic/foreshadowing. And of course we could point to Morgan for the fulfillment of this, given Fear, but I like to think Beth and Rick are there also.

Lines We Cross:

Let’s talk about Ezekiel coughing and wheezing. I know there are theories out there about it pointing to his death. I’m not completely opposed to that theory, but I’m not completely convinced of it, either. I even think he could be sick, but ultimately won’t die. But, if he is dying, or it foreshadows his death, I don’t think it’s happening just yet. I don’t see it happening until after the Whisper War. This COULD be foreshadowing his death, though. I’ll explain more about my theory on this tomorrow when I finally get to my radiation post.

Embers:

In this section, they finish fighting the fire. Luke asks about radiation. I don’t have tons to say about this part but I’ll mention it more tomorrow.

Carol and Daryl go to where Daryl and Alpha talked last season. Daryl says, “You still want to run away together?” Carol says, “Yeah. Tomorrow.”

Daryl says he needs her to stay. He might have to punch holes in her boat.

Then he walks away and Alpha appears and looks up at Carol.

This little conversation between them is really significant. In the short term, it simply shows that she will stay and help him fight Alpha during the Whisper War. But it was the “tomorrow” that really caught my ear. First of all, it’s more foreshadow that they will leave together at some point, but not just yet. They have Alpha to deal with first.

But it’s much more than that.

I don’t know if you guys remember this, but during S8 (All Out War) we identified a theme of “tomorrow.” They kept saying things would happen tomorrow, or they’d deal with something tomorrow. Stuff like that. We came to realize that it wasn’t only literal. It also referred to some future time and it was often paired with Beth symbolism. So, we came to believe that “tomorrow” was a term for when Beth would return, sometime in the future.

In 5x16 of FTWD, Ginny says, “Goodbye Yesterday, Hello Tomorrow!” I firmly believe Morgan’s group has reached the part in the narrative where they’ll run into Beth. Of course, we won’t see anything like that until at least next season. 

Then here, Carol says they’ll run away together “tomorrow.” Again, it’s some undefined period of time in the future, but you all know I think they’ll leave together and when they do, they’ll find Beth. So it, once again, ties Beth to the “tomorrow” theme.

And of course we end with Alpha seeing Carol, which I’m sure will kick off the Whisper War. Phew! If you’re still reading this, you’re a rock star! I’ll finally get to my radiation post tomorrow and my Predictions post on Saturday. Stay tuned! 😉

1) Why do y’all care so much about this bitch who plays multiple characters (when you niggas do the same. don’t front) 

2) Why not take advantage of this thing called a delete button? 

First thing’s first. We can’t talk about niggas being sensitive when y’all sensitive y’allselves. It’s just a different type of sensitive. Not the delete and post unfollow but the “I’ma rant in my mentions all day” sensitive. Hate to break it to you but that’s being sensitive. You are responding passionately to someone’s comment on you, your development or you’re expressing how you feel about something. Shit I'm being sensitive rn because I really could've kept my mouth shut but I have feelings about stuff. 

Dipping after causing a mess is being sensitive because well, like many pointed out, you caused it and knew what you were doing so don’t post your unfollow after causing a disturbance. Fuck it and move on, tf? You thought exposing IMs, calling someone ugly, saying you’re slap them all of that WOULDN’T cause a problem? People pick out these FCs and go into this with failing muse already after the first week and it doesn’t help when someone wants to randomly slap you or if you’re called ugly. Personally? I’d laugh and move on but some people are different and you can't be mad at that. Just like we learned and grew from our experiences, we need to let the new comers do that. If you got some dope plots, good development, and having fun then fuck the sensitive bitches you’re talking about and keep it pushing. 

Let me skip to number 2. This is all fake, which we can all agree. This community started as an escape for alot of people and still is. We’re grown now. You’d think with bills, rent, jobs and now new relationships we know how to handle things like adults. The only person controlling your good time is YOU. I’ve stopped giving a fuck what people say about my characters, to my characters on anon because this is all fake. I’m not really the person I’m playing and I have a slim understanding of the whole I  “I'm working hard to play this so the anons are annoying” shit but none of that will matter come the next rp. And if you get that discouraging anon. DELETE IT. You literally have the power to delete the hate and to make them feel small. Turn off your anons, ignore it. We still got CBs with anger problems, Dave Easts who move bricks, Rihannas who don’t drop music or act boujee as hell, Saweeties who act ghetto and so on. Y’all FCs act exactly how they usually do ooc and no one bats an eyelash until it’s someone they don’t know doing it. We all based our characters on real like shit they doing. It’s why we choose the characters because of their resources and development. Same with playing multiple characters. I’ve watched y’all sit and pick out MULTIPLE FCs for new rps but nooooooooooooooooooo let’s blow the sirens for this one girl who’s single handedly bringing down he community right? You’re blaming the downfall on ONE person at this point and it’s laughable because who’s at fault for this shit right now? And don’t say sensitive people because we just spoke about this lmao.

And honestly, if this bitch is that irritating. And you feel it in your core that it’s her. Just tell them straight up. I've done it. I get word that it’s most likely them, they do some funny shit and I dead it. Open our plot, cut off connections. Nope. It’s just not me and with the stories I can’t be bothered with he mess. It’s that easy. you literally have the power at your finger tips to better this community by deleting anons, blocking the bitches you can’t trust and just simply telling someone no. But you guys choose to entertain anons or the people in your IMs asking for smut then go to WC and complain. In conclusion, I feel like we all play a part in how this community is right now. It’s not just one bitch, it’s not just a group of people. It’s not the sensitivity. It’s everyone. It was me at one point trail blazing through the tags. I owned up to it. But I really just chill and rock with something until it dies. There’s a person that hates this blog, I know they hate this blog because we butted heads and turns out they’re my favorite person I’ve ever got the chance to plot and connect with.
