Background Info 2 (Tim, Cassandra, Stephanie, Damian, Duke Centered)
Tumblr media
I think your relationship with Tim is more complicated than you wanted it to be. When he first came about to the family, he was the reason you found out about your family’s secrets. The ones that they’ve been hiding from you from the start. And for some reason, as a kid, you didn’t know whether you should be thankful, or hate him for that.
Why? Because the truth was a double-edged sword. On one hand, you had always felt like something was off about your family—the late nights, the unexplained bruises and injuries, the way they avoided topics like they were landmines. Tim revealing the truth was like solving a puzzle you didn’t know you were piecing together. But on the other hand, the truth came with a weight you hadn’t been prepared for before.
A part of you wanted to be grateful—Tim had given you the truth when no one else had. But another part of you couldn’t help but resent him. It was as if he had stolen the illusion of normalcy you clung to, replacing it with danger, secrets, and an overwhelming realization how much more you actually needed to do to get the approval of your family.
For the first few months of Tim being Robin, you didn’t see him as anything other than Jason’s replacement.
Jason had been your brother in every sense of the word. A little rough around the edges, sure, but he had a way of making you feel seen, even when the rest of the family was too caught up in their own world to notice you. So when he died, it left a gaping hole—not just in the family but in you. When Tim came along and slid into Jason’s place like it was as simple as filling a role, it was hard not to hate him for it.
You avoided him at first, ignored all of his attempts to be friendly or cordial. You refused to acknowledge him as anything other than “the new Robin.” You knew it was childish, but you were only 12 then. It wasn’t fair, you knew that, but grief doesn’t lend itself to rationality. Eventually, though, you started to let go of that resentment. He wasn’t Jason, but he wasn’t trying to be him either. He was just Tim.
So, you decided to try. He was close to your age, after all, and you figured, at the very least, you could be friends. But Tim didn’t seem to feel the same way. To him, you were Batman’s daughter, that was it. He kept things polite and distant, never letting you close enough to feel like anything more than an acquaintance.
That dynamic didn’t really shift until the death of his father. When Jack Drake was killed by Captain Boomerang, and Bruce formally adopted Tim, you felt for him in a way you hadn’t before. Losing a parent was a kind of pain you couldn’t imagine, and for the first time, you saw him as more than just “the new Robin”. You pitied him.
You tried to comfort him, offering him a shoulder to lean on and small acts of kindness. But Tim didn’t want your pity. If anything, it seemed to make him pull away even further. He started treating you less like family, and more like a roommate—someone he tolerated living with but didn’t go out of his way to connect with.
You didn’t push him. If that’s what he needed, fine. But you still wanted to be close to him, so you found other ways to try. You’d ask him for help with missions and cases, knowing how smart and capable he was, hoping it might bridge the gap between you. For a while, it worked—or at least, it felt like it did. But over time, Tim’s frustration began to show. He never said it outright, but his body language spoke volumes: the tight set of his jaw, the way he’d sigh when you approached, the way his answers grew shorter and more clipped.
Eventually, you stopped asking.
And that’s how it’s been ever since. The two of you drifted into a rhythm, more like estranged colleagues or roommates than siblings, or in the very least, friends. You didn’t mind—at least, that’s what you told yourself. But deep down, you couldn’t help but wonder if things could’ve been different, if you had acted differently from the very start.
Tumblr media
When Cassandra first joined the family, you were slightly excited because, for the first time, you had a sister. An older one, in fact. It felt like a chance to have someone who might understand you in a way the others didn’t.
But then you found out that she didn’t speak. She couldn’t speak, write, or even read. The excitement you felt faltered, replaced by confusion and uncertainty. How were you supposed to bond with someone when you couldn’t even talk to them? At the time, you didn’t fully understand the extent of her struggles or the horrors she had endured. All you saw was the surface—a girl who communicated through body language and a few cryptic gestures.
At first, you weren’t sure how to approach her. Conversations were one-sided, and you found yourself rambling awkwardly, trying to fill the silence. She would watch you intently, her dark eyes seeming to take in every word, every movement, but she never responded. It made you feel exposed, like she could see through every layer you tried to hide behind.
Still, you tried. You offered to help her learn, even though you weren’t exactly the best teacher. You’d leave sticky notes with simple words written on them, hoping she’d start to recognize them. Sometimes she’d glance at them, but other times, she’d brush past them as if they weren’t there.
It was disheartening at first, but then there were moments that gave you hope. A small smile when you handed her something. A nod of acknowledgment when you rambled about your day. Slowly, you began to realize that Cassandra spoke volumes without ever saying a word.
But even as you grew to understand her, there was a part of you that wondered if she ever really saw you the same way. She bonded so quickly with Bruce, with Barbara, even with Tim. They seemed to understand her in ways you couldn’t, and it made you feel like an outsider all over again.
You wanted to be close to her, to have the sisterly relationship you’d always imagined, but it felt like you were chasing something that was always just out of reach. Cassandra was kind, patient even, but there was always a distance—an invisible wall that kept you from getting too close. You weren’t sure if it was something she put up or something you did.
But when she was getting mire familiar with speaking and reading, you noticed that she started to avoid you. Subtly. Cassandra didn’t see you as someone to guide or protect. In her eyes, you were fragile, someone who didn’t belong in the same world of violence and shadows that had shaped her. She didn’t want you to go down this path, in a way, she wanted you to live your life away from this.
But that’s not what you wanted. When you tried to train with her, hoping to gain her approval, she’d effortlessly disarm you, her movements almost lazy. “Not ready,” she’d say bluntly, walking away without further explanation. You were left feeling small, unworthy. And in a way, that sparked the initial tension between you and her.
As the years went by though, you hated that you were feeling jealous over the fact that your father seemed to see Cassandra as more of a daughter than with you. You’ve seen the way they bonded, seen the way Bruce’s usually stoic demeanor softened ever so slightly when Cassandra was around. It wasn’t like he ignored you, but it was different. With Cassandra, there was a shared understanding, an unspoken connection forged in the language of the battlefield—a language you never quite mastered.
You tried to convince yourself it didn’t bother you. After all, Bruce was distant with everyone, wasn’t he? But the more you watched him mentor her, the more you saw the effort he put into helping her grow—not just as a fighter, but as a person—the harder it became to push those feelings of inadequacy aside.
Cassandra, for her part, didn’t seem to notice how much it hurt. Or if she did, she didn’t say anything. She was focused, always pushing herself to be better, stronger, faster. And you… you felt like you were standing still, trying to catch up but never quite reaching her.
The jealousy festered quietly. You hated feeling that way toward her, especially when she hadn’t done anything wrong. She deserved Bruce’s attention. She deserved to be seen. But so did you. And no matter how hard you tried, it felt like you were always coming up short in his eyes.
Over time, you started pulling back. You stopped asking her to train with you. Stopped leaving notes or trying to initiate conversations. Instead, you kept to yourself, throwing yourself into missions and tasks that didn’t involve her or Bruce. Maybe if you worked hard enough, fought hard enough, they’d finally see you as an equal.
But the distance didn’t fix anything. It only made the loneliness worse. You missed the small moments with Cassandra, the fleeting smiles and quiet nods. And even though you’d never admit it out loud, you missed the rare moments of connection with Bruce too.
The truth was, you didn’t know how to bridge the gap between you and Cassandra—or anyone in the family, for that matter. You were stuck in a cycle of trying too hard and pulling away, and no matter what you did, it never felt like enough.
Tumblr media
And as for Stephanie, you two have never actually been close. At first, you just saw her as Tim’s girlfriend, and that was it. You didn’t pay her much attention beyond that. But things shifted dramatically when Barbara and Dick allowed her to take up the Batgirl mantle while your father was “dead.”
The first time you saw her in her version of the Batgirl costume, it felt like the world stopped. That symbol, that legacy—it was supposed to mean something, and seeing her wear it felt like a betrayal. Dick brought her along as Batgirl during his time as Batman, with Damian as his Robin, and the sight of them together cut deeper than you wanted to admit.
You felt replaced. Tossed aside. Forgotten. And that feeling lit a fire in you—a desperate, burning need to prove that you deserved to be Batgirl more than Stephanie ever did. This wasn’t just about the costume or the name; it was about everything it represented. Respect. Recognition. Family.
So, yes, it became a one-sided rivalry, fueled by jealousy and betrayal. You trained harder, worked yourself to the brink, but no matter how much you pushed, it never felt like enough. Stephanie had been doing this longer than you had, and her experience showed. But that didn’t make it sting any less when you watched her work alongside Dick and Damian with an ease you couldn’t seem to replicate.
When your father returned, you thought things would change—that maybe this would be your chance to finally step into the role you’d been striving for. But even then, Stephanie remained Batgirl, and Bruce seemed to call on her more often than he did you. For recon missions, patrols, you name it—she was his go-to. It hurt, deeply.
And when Stephanie eventually stepped down from being Batgirl to return to her original mantle as Spoiler, it didn’t bring you the satisfaction you thought it would. You didn’t “win.” There was no triumph, no validation that you were the better Batgirl. Stephanie left on her own terms, and that only made it worse.
You felt like you’d lost. Lost the unspoken competition you’d waged in your own head, lost your chance to prove your worth. And that sense of failure—it ate away at you, leaving behind a bitterness you couldn’t shake. Instead of quelling your insecurities, it only made them worse, fueling a toxic cycle of self-doubt and a relentless need to prove yourself.
Maybe in another life, things would’ve been different. Maybe you and Stephanie could’ve been friends, allies even. But the weight of your own jealousy and toxic mentality made that impossible. You wanted to reach out, to connect, but every time you tried, that voice in your head reminded you of all the ways you’d fallen short. And so, the distance between you and Stephanie only grew, just like it had with everyone else.
Tumblr media
As for Damian, your relationship with him has always been a mixed bag. When he first showed up at the manor, you didn’t know what to make of him. He was brash, arrogant, and entirely too confident for someone so young. At first, you thought he was just some spoiled brat with a superiority complex. And honestly? You weren’t far off.
He didn’t waste any time asserting himself, loudly proclaiming that he was the true heir to Batman’s legacy and making it clear he saw you as competition. Not a sibling, not even an ally—just someone to outmatch. He called you soft, mocked your fighting skills, and dismissed your efforts to keep the peace as weakness. It was exhausting, to say the least.
At the same time, though, you couldn’t help but feel a bit sorry for him. He’d been thrust into a completely unfamiliar world, taken from the League of Assassins and dropped into the Wayne family chaos. It was clear he didn’t know how to connect with anyone, and for all his bravado, there was something lonely about him.
You tried to bridge the gap at first, hoping to at least build a sense of camaraderie. But Damian made it difficult. He was quick to push you away, and any attempt to be friendly was met with biting remarks or scornful looks. Over time, you learned to keep your distance, picking your battles carefully.
What made it worse was how Bruce and Dick always seemed to take his side. When he antagonized you or picked fights, their solution was always the same:
“Be patient with him,” or, “He’s still adjusting. Give him time.”
But how could you? He was the one who started the fights, who insulted you at every opportunity. No one seemed to care about that part.
Still, as much as Damian constantly undermined you, there were moments—fleeting and rare—when you noticed something different. He wasn’t as dismissive as he pretended to be. There were times when you’d find your weapons repaired after training or your notes on a case mysteriously corrected. He never said anything about it, and you never brought it up, but you knew it was him.
Even his insults, as cruel as they were, sometimes felt… purposeful. Like he was testing you, pushing you to be better. At first, you thought it was just an excuse you made up to deal with his attitude, but over time, it became clear that his criticism wasn’t entirely baseless. Damian had a way of pointing out your flaws in a way no one else did—harshly, yes, but sometimes accurately.
As the years went on, your dynamic shifted. The outright animosity faded, though it never disappeared entirely. There were still arguments, snide remarks, and moments where you swore he was intentionally trying to get under your skin. But there was also a strange, unspoken understanding.
You’d never call yourselves close. You’d never confide in each other or share heartfelt moments. But there was a bond, however tenuous, forged by shared experiences and blood. There was a mutual, begrudging respect that neither of you would admit out loud.
At the end of the day, Damian was still Damian. He still had his sharp tongue and holier-than-thou attitude, and you still had your resentment. But underneath it all, there was a flicker of something—rivalry mixed with loyalty, disdain mixed with a reluctant sense of family. It wasn’t perfect, and it probably never would be. But it was enough.
Tumblr media
For Duke, it’s a bit different. He joined the family relatively later than the others, and Bruce didn’t officially adopt him into the family—he only fostered him. That distinction didn’t seem to matter to anyone else, though. From the moment Duke stepped into the manor, he fit right in.
Whenever you and Duke crossed paths, he was always nice. Friendly, even. But just like with the others, there was this invisible wall between you and him. Why? You weren’t entirely sure. Maybe it was because you noticed how easily he got along with the rest of your siblings, how seamlessly they accepted him. They included him in more things, leaned on him more during missions, and spent more time with him than they did with you.
It wasn’t like you hated him for that. No, never. Duke wasn’t the problem—it was the growing realization that once again, you were on the outside looking in. You couldn’t help but feel like you were being edged out of your own family. And that hurt, both your pride and your heart.
There were moments when you tried to connect with him, telling him about a lead you’d found or an idea you had for a case. Duke always listened, but his responses left a sting. Comments like, “Are you sure you can handle this stuff by yourself?” or, “You don’t want any help?” or even, “Maybe you should get Dick or Cass to help you out with this.”
You knew he probably meant well, but those words dug deep. It felt like he didn’t think you were capable, that he saw you as someone who couldn’t hold their own. You never said anything about it, of course, but it only strengthened your resolve to prove yourself.
And maybe that was the problem. The more you tried to show him—and everyone else—that you were competent, the more strained things became. It wasn’t outright hostility, not by any means, but there was a tension that lingered between you. A mutual awkwardness neither of you ever addressed.
At the end of the day, though, Duke was Duke. You weren’t enemies, and you didn’t resent him. You were friends, at the very least. But there was always that wall, a quiet reminder that, even in your own family, you were never quite enough.
Tumblr media
I hope this was able to effectively portrag the fact that the reader is far from a perfect person, because I don’t think I was able to show that in the first background info. I feel that growing up in such an emotionally stunted family would inevitably shape her into someone complex and flawed. She wouldn’t be endlessly hopeful or optimistic. How could she be? She’s not just some perpetually kind, selfless girl with no negative emotions. Instead, her experiences have made her someone who struggles with jealousy, insecurity, and a need to prove herself, even if it leads to toxic behavior… but i hope y’all enjoyed this part!! lmk what you think <3

What does your crush think of you? 💭
+ do they like you back? 💓
It’s been a LONG TIME since I’ve made a PAC. I’ve had a lot of challenges this past year, which is why there has been such a lack, I hope I am forgiven. But this is a topic that excites me and something I’m dealing with too, and that I do not see very often. We’ll know from this PAC by the end what your crush thinks of you and the big question, if they like you back or not! I will be honest, so beware. This PAC will be a bit shorter. Take what resonates and leave what doesn’t, it’s a general reading. As always, pick a vintage image below using your intuition, don’t overthink it too much. Have fun!
Tumblr media
Pile 1:
Your crush has a complicated view of you, but another better way I’d say is balanced as well. They are some parts of you they really love and admire, but do notice some flaws within you. I think their first impression of you may not have been the greatest. They view you as a little too sensitive, and you don’t handle conflict and challenges very well in their eyes. You come off a bit melancholy and nervous in your interactions with one another. I think they know you like them, and the way you present themselves to them makes it clear. Have you and your crush not talked much recently or at all? I’m getting hallway crush or that sort of vibe. I think some things they hear about you are based on other people or in group settings. Despite these flaws, I think they find you to be a very mature person and they know you take things seriously, and would take things seriously in a relationship as well. Your crush seems to think of you sometimes in passing, but not too much. I’m getting that this is still early stages. They sort of wish to know you more, like they want to move on and break the ice with you. They are secretly hoping you get over you shyness more it seems lol. They also find you to be physically attractive, and that you have a very out there and positive personality. I think they’ve only seen one side of you, but they know that there’s much more depth to you and that you can be a very lovely and vibrant person to be around. They also find you to be a high achiever, and think you do a good job and getting things done.
Do they like you back?:
Unfortunately but unsurprisingly, this is a no. Stages are just too early and they don’t know you well enough. They have other options romantically they seem to not want to invest in, and they are happy with where they are. They don’t want to change their romantic situation right now or they are already in a committed relationship. If this isn’t the answer you want, don’t fret too much yet, because there is still a chance to grow this connection because it’s early, at least as a friend.
Pile 2:
You seem to know your crush well already. They may be a longtime friend, or just someone you’ve know for awhile now. They honestly think very highly of you it seems, pile 2. They admire your generosity, kindness, and how well you are in interacting with people. For some of you this person may know or may be close with your family, for some people this person may have a different cultural background than you. I see that they think you are a well rounded person with admirable qualities! They always rely on you for good judgement and you’re a really good role model to them. They find you curious and venturesome, and they enjoy spending time with you, ESPECIALLY when you guys are traveling. They may think about going on trips with you or you have had been on trips with your crush. They think you’re so wise, and that you have so much to offer to this world. You may be very passionate in a certain field you wanna pursue as a career, and they think that it suits you, and they love that passion about you. For some of you they may not vocally express enough appreciation for you, because to them it’s common knowledge you know that you’re great! They can almost like sit in peace with themselves even if they don’t see in years from now like “yeah, they’re gonna go out and cure cancer!” That kind of energy.
Do they like you back?:
They don’t like you back, but they do think so highly of you and deeply appreciate you. They are honored to be in your life. I really get this is especially the case if this is a longtime friend of yours that you happen to be crushing on. They would be really saddened if you guys cut ties with one another or if they ended up upsetting you.
Pile 3:
DAMN, your crush has a lot to say about you Pile 3. First of all, they ADORE being around you. You give them purpose! They feel so giddy and happy around you, you really make them feel like a little kid. Every hangout feels like an adventure with you, and like they are really making some good memories. They notice that you have a strong personality, but they are attracted to that and love that about you. They love that you are a leader, and seem to be well respected by most people they know that know you. This person acts really childish around you. I think they are generally a a reasonable person, but when you “act stupid” or childish they can’t help but find it contagious, but in a happy way. This person seems to be relatively new to your life it seems. They seem to really love you, honestly. They can really see you in their life forever or a very long time. They want to watch you accomplish and take on big tasks. I think you are a very ambitious person, and they love that about you! They also like your friends, and if they met your family they like them too. You just bring such positive energy to the table that it inflicts upon them, and they LOVE IT!
Do they like you back?:
Oh definitely. They REALLY like you, love even. Though you guys are still progressing, they envision a romantic future with you as well, and I think for a good bit, like 60% of you they are probably planning to ask you out or have been thinking about it but have gotten too scared to ask. Things are moving a bit slowly, but they definitely have feelings.
Pile 4:
They love being around you, really. You may be very social around your crush, and that’s where you spend most of your time whether it be school clubs, parties, etc. They find you confident, and even flirtatious. They also find you very physically attractive. If you are a woman or female presenting, they find you so feminine and beautiful, and they love how you style your hair and do your makeup. Overall though regardless of gender they find you very physically attractive, and especially your body, regardless of how it is they love it. Your crush thinks you are easy to get along with, so they have no problem conversing with you. They think you respect their time well, which they deeply appreciate. They seem to offer you cups and pieces of affection here and then. They find you to be so passionate, like you’re a real go getter to this person! They think you’re fierce and confident. You may have a stronger personality, and they like that. You’re overall just very easy to get along with. They just get caught up in your little world together of conversations and hanging out, it’s very charming. They think about you in passing, sometimes they even miss you when you aren’t around. Your presence is just really defining to them.
Do they like you back?:
They do like you back, and actually have strong feelings for you, but the thing is, they don’t know how to manage them that well yet. This person is scared of intimacy, and may let their fears override, so they avoid relationships. They think fondly of you and love you, and miss when you’re around but still right now aren’t ready for this relationship. You need to give this person time to catch their breath and let things unfold naturally.

for life, featuring tighnari. ʚɞ fluff, mutual pining, confessions, reader is an amurta scholar, injuries (mild), reader hinted to be shorter than nari, tighnari 100% has separation anxiety. w.c 5.4k words.
˚ 𝜗𝜚˚⋆。 angel's note. this is one of many reposted works i'll be doing!! i've been on tumblr for years across a wide span of blogs & different aliases but i've been in a writing stump for these past few months and so i'll be journeying across my old blogs to repost some of my works (namely my faves because i am my own worst critic) so i hope you enjoy them in a new light!
Tumblr media
he’d first seen you before you’d even considered the amurta darshan. you were obsessed with nature; all the fauna and flora that there physically could be. you spent so much of your time studying in the avidya forest, it wasn’t particularly rare for tighnari to stumble across you while he was doing his patrols. in fact, you were becoming a highlight of his patrols. tighnari couldn’t help but flatten his ears to his head when he turns the corner and you aren’t sat under the same usual tree you always were. the next day you’d be sure to be there, apologising profusely to the fox as he’d became just as much a part of your routine as you had his.
you found him fascinating, albeit maybe because of his ears and the fluffy tail that protrudes from his lower back but also because whenever he stumbled upon you, he was keen to speak to you about your studies. he was like a walking encyclopedia and you loved it. if there was a mushroom variant you wasn’t particularly strong on, you could guarantee tighnari was. after a few meetings with him, you started to purposefully sit in spots that you knew was on at least one of his patrols. you was hoping he’d never noticed.
meeting almost daily, the two of you realised you’d never exchanged your names. you always referred to him as ‘the fox’ to your friends at the akademiya and tighnari would refer to you as “the student” to the forest rangers at gandharva ville.
“beautiful day for studying,” the familiar voice mused in a playful tone, causing your head to shoot up from your books, “what’s the topic today?”
a smile graced your lips at his arrival, his ears perked and tail swaying in the breeze. your eyes drifted down to the books surrounding you, especially the one on your lap. your smile turned sheepish, letting a little laugh out that, to tighnari, sounded like the sweetest melody.
“actually, i’m preparing my first thesis - i chose my darshan the other day and i’ve been up to my head in classes since.” you sighed loudly and perhaps a little dramatically. tighnari quirked a brow, one of his ears twitching in curiousity; so that’s where you had been these past few days.
“oh? congratulations, that’s a big achievement,” he grinned, finding himself sitting in front of you on the grass, his legs folded and bushy tail curling over them, “which darshan did you choose?”
your cheeks flushed with heat that you blamed on the sumeru summer but that clearly wasn’t the reason. you averted your gaze from tighnari embarrassedly, clearing your throat. you were in full awareness that tighnari was an alumni of the amurta darshan, he was still the talk of the school with them referencing his works. he’s your elder now officially and that made him slightly more intimidating.
“o-oh - uh,” your obvious shift in mood made a smile crack at tighnari’s lips. he knew exactly what darshan you’d choose from the moment he met you, “i’m officially an amurta student.”
you announced it with an ounce of pride, lifting your chin high to which amused tighnari. he wasn’t stupid - not that you’d ever claim him as such. he just wanted you to hear you say it himself, his ears tingling at the words.
“i knew the answer. i just wanted to hear you say it,” he chuckled, running his fingers through his tail fur as you stared at him, flabbergasted, “did you truly think i’d help your studies on the avidya forest’s flora if you were going to run off to an other darshan?”
he found the sheer embarassment on your face funny but he wouldn’t voice it right now, it’d only make your fever and racing pulse worse and he didn’t want to carry you back to gandharva ville with all of your books.
“well…” your voice trailed off, fingers nimbly fidgeting with the pages before you. you huffed a little, your stubbornness coming through as tighnari looked down at you proudly. you avoided the eye contact but tighnari didn’t mind.
“can i ask for your name now?” he hummed, his question causing you to finally give him your completely undivided attention. you felt yourself starting to smile again. unbeknownst to you, he found your smile contagious and within seconds, tighnari was also smiling.
“y/n.”
˚ ✦ . .   ˚ . . ✦ ˚ . ★⋆.
“y/n never wants to study with us anymore,” your friend exclaimed, poking your shoulder as the rest of your friend group laughed, “we’ve been replaced!”
she dramatically threw her head back, the back of her wrist to her forehead in an “oh the agony!” moment. you rolled your eyes promptly, continuing to study from tighnari’s notes he had happily let you borrow.
“when do we get to meet the lucky man?” another friend perked up, causing you to choke on oxygen momentarily. you sent a death glare across the table at him.
“there is no lucky man - it’s just more peaceful to study in the avidya forest than listen to dumb and dumber over there bicker all the time.” you nodded your head to the twin siblings, sat looking ever-so-innocent. they couldn’t fool an archon though, all they have ever done is cause mischief and chaos for everyone.
the truth is tighnari had started invited you to gandharva ville. as sumeru entered winter, the avidya forest was prone to less humid thunderstorms and more simple rainstorms with a freezing temperature. he would hate to see you get caught in one at random and freeze to death so why not come sit in his hut? at first it was mildly awkward. tighnari would sit over his desk, grinding up herbs and plants for remedies and incantations while you studied, the hut almost deadly silent other than the sound of the wooden mortar and pestle in tighnari’s gloved hands.
you wouldn’t admit it, especially not to your friend group but you spent a lot of your so-called ‘studying’ watching tighnari. you would watch the way his tail swayed in a rhythm, his hands working meticulously on a remedy that he had recently ran out of - or perhaps he was marking collei’s homework for the week and his ear was twitching occasionally. you loved the way he’d reach up and rub his ear, pulling it down sometimes as if he was grooming it.
tighnari would chuckle to himself as he watched you leave gandharva ville, your books hugged to your chest. he knew you were unaware but he knew perfectly well that you was watching him during your time in his hut. he figured you’d understand his kind well enough considering your intricate knowledge of fauna but he perhaps underestimated how much you knew on foxes. this is exactly why he’d cunningly got you researching and studying foxes, a cheeky smile on his face as he’d passed you his notes on his kind that you accepted happily.
the more your eyes scanned the yellowed pages, the more you realised exactly what he was putting you through. the characteristics of bushy tails, big ears and superb senses… it was all tighnari. the words all began to drown out your friend group’s quarrelling at the table. your tongue poked the inner of your cheek, holding back a smile at the thought that tighnari had done this on purpose. closing his notes, you began gathering your belongings with a new found urgency to speak to him.
˚ ✦ . .   ˚ . . ✦ ˚ . ★⋆.
gandharva ville was ever busy on its feet, forest rangers rendezvousing at previously confirmed locations before they set out on their patrols for the day and the odd scholar scratching down notes onto their parchment. despite the weather being beautiful and just the right temperature, you couldn’t spot the one person you was looking for. the occasional forest ranger would greet you as you passed, wide grins on their faces as they recognised you. you’d politely smile back, continuing towards tighnari’s hut.
but behind the leafy curtain, there was no forest watcher you were searching for. your brows knitted in concern, finding yourself frowning as you glanced over his belongings. he didn’t usually patrol at this time of day - in fact, this was usually the time of the day he’d be discussing collei’s studies with her.
“y/n?” the melodic hum of the young girl drifted from behind you, waltzing you around on your heels to meet eyes with her, “if you’re looking for master tighnari, he recently left to deal with a withering zone just north of gandharva ville.”
“alone?” you quirked a brow as she nodded. that sounds incredibly stupid of him, you think as you bid farewell to collei and began walking to where tighnari should ultimately be. you had stayed clear of withering zones, always sticking to the paths when traversing through the avidya forest and it was always because of the warnings tighnari would reprimand you with.
hugging the top layer of your student robes closer to your body, you couldn’t help but feel a sudden chill amongst the air. a sudden rainstorm? surely not. you frowned, catching sight of some dark fur on a nearby branch. your fingers plucked at it, holding it up to confirm that it belonged to the man you’d been searching for. was he in danger? you looked around, scanning the area for any more hints or signs that tighnari was here.
you took notice to how dry the grass was, crunching beneath your every step as you clutched tighnari’s fur in your fist. there was the sound of a bow amongst the darkness, followed by the occasional groan and frustrated grunt. a silence followed. it was like warmth washed over you, bringing over a fever as humidity returned to the area and the grass coloured lush green, the flowers flourishing once more. had that been a withering zone?
in the distance there sat a figure on the grass, shoulders hunched and defeated. his ears were flattened, bloody hands hugging his tail close.
“tighnari?” you whispered. his ears lifted, perked as you hurried over to the male, “are you okay?”
he smiled, grimacing somewhat as his gaze finds your worried eyes. he raised a hand, waving you off as you start searching his body in attempt to find where the blood came from. it certainly wasn’t from the terrors that lurk in withering zones which could only mean tighnari was injured. tighnari’s tail twitched in his hands, awkwardly looking away from you.
“it’s just a scratch, i promise y/n,” he chuckled meekly, clearing his throat as he scanned the surroundings, “although, could you help me back to gandharva ville? it certainly isn’t safe to stick around in the wild with the scent of blood.”
and so you lifted the male up, wrapping one of his arms around your shoulders as you both stumbled back to gandharva ville in the most ungraceful manner possible. the height difference between the two of you most definitely did not help. he’d been out long enough now that gandharva ville was basically empty - people were sleeping by now and you’d narrowly avoided the night patrols. you could feel tighnari’s muscles relax when he realised he could make it to his hut without people seeing him in such a fragile state; hell, it was killing him to allow you to see him like this.
tighnari was quick to settle onto his bed, groaning out as he finally let his tail drop and you could catch the gash he had on his side. you scowled, surveying his hut that you had been in many a time now. you figured you’d know it well enough, wandering subconsciously to his desk. tighnari watched, a little perplexed at what you could possibly want by his desk but he watched you tiptoe, fingertips dancing and gripping at a vial of cream on one of the highest shelves. your spare hand was holding your weight up against his desk and tighnari swallowed the lump in his throat.
he wasn’t sure what he found more attractive in the moment, your stubborn attitude unwilling to ask for his help reaching for something or the fact you’d just grabbed the correct vial from the numerous ones on his shelves. he hadn’t even taught you about any of them let alone included you in his remedies.
“how did you know which vial-” you cut him off with a laugh, helping him shrug off his cloak so you could look closer at the wound he’d acquired from being so stupidly bold into thinking he could handle all these withering zones alone.
“i usually end up watching you work when i’m here studying,” you mused but you were embarassed to admit it to him directly, “i remember the time a forest ranger came in with an injury on their calf, you used this one - i can’t forget it because the vial is so pretty.”
tighnari hummed, chuckling despite it hurting him. you shot a glance up at his face to catch him already looking at you as you applied the cream, albeit in hesitant motions as to not hurt the male. you was about to question what made him laugh - perhaps a little defensively as you’d just let out some considerably embarrassing information but tighnari spoke first.
“you’re just like collei.” tighnari said no more and you decided not to press on the matter if it meant you got to avoid talking about how you watched him. you dressed his wound in a bandage, fingers working ever-so-gently and diligently.
˚ ✦ . .   ˚ . . ✦ ˚ . ★⋆.
“i’d rather kiss fungi.” collei puffed her cheeks, her lips pouted as you laughed at her response. you’d pulled her to sumeru city for the day with tighnari’s permission. collei couldn’t contain her excitement but she was a little hesistant on the matter, unsure if she should spend time away from her studies. you assured her that one day wouldn’t halt her progress forever and you even promised to teach her some things on the way back to gandharva ville, as her senior of course.
“why not? i thought he was pretty cute.” you giggled, raising your drink to your lips as you tapped your fingers on the table, looking around at the bustling streets of sumeru city for another possible suitor for collei.
“like how you find master tighnari cute?” her question threw you off guard, your eyes widening and the drumming of your fingers suddenly stopping. collei’s smile turned into a tight, smug grin that had you glaring in her direction.
“who says i find tighnari cute?” you huffed, letting out of a dramatic sigh - with sounds included, “kids these days.”
collei simply wouldn’t drop her grin however as she watched the way you looked away sheepishly, the tip of your nose dusted a rosey hue of pink. you were pouting your lips ever-so-slightly and your eyes wouldn’t stay locked on one thing for more than a few seconds. you could deny it all you liked but collei knew otherwise. she had been in master tighnari’s hut while you were also there studying, she hadn’t missed how you sneaked glances in his direction while he questioned her on her homework.
“collei?” a male voice chirped up, oddly a little familiar to you as you both turned in his direction, “tighnari let you leave gandharva ville?”
“oh! mister cyno!” collei beamed at the general mahamatra, leaving you even more flustered than you’d been before, “aha, yes he did - on terms that y/n teaches me too.”
cyno’s gaze flickers to you and you hold your breath, he was incredibly intimidating to you. you’d seen him multiple times around the akademiya on the way to your classes and all you could ever think was how you didn’t want to end up on the bad side of his polearm. yet collei knows him and even more so, he knows tighnari. he catches on to how stiff you’ve turned in his presence but his gaze only softens minorly. so this is the student that tighnari will not stop yapping about in his letters? he isn’t surprised at all. he’s spent many nights drinking with tighnari and he’s heard the intoxicated ramble about tighnari’s quote-on-quote ‘ideal type’ more times than he can count his genius invocation tcg wins - you fit the ramble perfectly.
“so this is y/n.” cyno hummed, wondering if he could stir tighnari’s awful babbling even more by involving you. you quirked a brow but nodded regardless.
“it’s a pleasure to finally speak to you, general - i mean, i see you around the akademiya sometimes.” your words slowly turned into a mumble, scoffing mentally at how you struggle with social situations like these. especially when the focus was on you.
“when you’re actually there,” collei pokes with a teasing tone, “you spend more time in gandharva ville i swear.”
˚ ✦ . .   ˚ . . ✦ ˚ . ★⋆.
you had expected all the days and nights writing theses to take its toll on your body but not like this, you sighed as you sprawled out on your bed. your whole body ached as if you had studied yourself to death but today you had submitted your final thesis - the one that determined everything about your time at the akademiya. you’d spent countless all-nighters in the house of daena, buried in books that you could barely skim through with your current attention span.
you simply wanted to sleep for months, perhaps years however that would not be wise if you were about to assume position as a scholar. you’d worked so hard for this, it’d be wrong to suddenly hibernate your life away in celebration of it. despite your mild joy at the situation, you couldn’t bring yourself to celebrate. your body simply would not move, lacking energy you’d have any other day. as much as you wanted to celebrate, you wanted to see tighnari and tell him about your final thesis more.
it had been months since you’d visited gandharva ville and with tighnari’s lack of presence outside of the avidya forest, you hadn’t ran into the fox at all. your fingers twitched suddenly, as if craving the male’s company. you scowled, turning your head to admire the night sky outside of your window. he most likely wouldn’t even be awake right now even if you did drag your sorry ass out of bed but it had been too long since you walked barefoot along the grass on your way ro gandharva ville, basking in the sounds of nature.
you didn’t truly grasp how much you’d missed these minor feelings until you was doing them again, retracing your steps to the familiarity of gandharva ville. fireflies danced in the clammy air of sumeru’s night, summer barely around the corner as temperatures began to rise again. you hadn’t even reached gandharva ville when you landed sight on someone amongst the leafy greens of the avidya forest and he too noticed you. there was a flush of warmth running through your blood like a spur of energy, heart racing at the sight of him again. there was no conscious decision as you ran towards him, grinning at the sound of his laugh as he hugged you tight, the two of you almost toppling over at the force of your hug.
“well look who it is,” tighnari teased, a hand on his hip as you awkwardly separated from the hug, “isn’t it amurta’s newest scholar?”
“how did you know?” you tilted your head, watching how his ears twitched and lowered slightly.
“did you forget that i know cyno?” he hummed and suddenly you remembered well enough, “not only that but disappearing for months? i could only assume you were in the stages of your final thesis.”
tighnari would not admit it to you but the past few months had been nothing but living hell on him. he craved your presence daily, still checking every spot you had been known to perch at on his daily patrols - even going as far as taking both the morning and evening patrols in hopes of seeing you. he knew you could just as easily turn up at his hut but he figured you’d spend your time in a much quieter spot like the ones he met you at but he never found you. there was never even a sign that you had been there.
so he began desperately writing to cyno about you, asking if he’d seen you around the akademiya by pure chance. tighnari couldn’t bear the idea that something awful had happened to you even though he knew you had studies to prioritise. something could have happened to your family, anything. he had to be reasonable. little did tighnari know, cyno had already been keeping his watchful gaze on you from across the house of daena or puspa cafe. he'd kept his eye on how you’d work yourself to death to finish your final thesis - he kept those details to himself however. tighnari was becoming an avid worrier about you, fidgety at even the slightest mentions about you. the least he could do was hold his tongue on things he knew would spiral tighnari completely out of control.
“i definitely did not forget that you knew cyno.” you muttered, looking down at the ground between the two of you. tighnari’s tail swished in amusement. of course you’d forgotten when you had so much studying on your hands.
tighnari wouldn’t know how painful these months were for you, on the other hand. he wouldn’t know how you piled yourself in books only to lose focus the second you pulled apart the pages. the text looked nothing like his handwriting, you’d think, slamming it shut in a futile attempt at keeping tighnari alive in your memory. if you could focus on a book for more than a few words then it wouldn’t be long before your thoughts drifted away, daydreaming of a much simpler time when you would sit on the grass with tighnari and bask in the sunlight.
you thought back to the times he’d mentor you - except he never liked to call it that because he never wanted to take the role of your mentor. you recalled all the patrols you’d tagged along on, your feet aching but you couldn’t care less as long as you had tighnari with you. all so you could watch his tail wag as you walked, his ears turning at the slightest of noises. he was always so aware, ensuring he never got you into danger once. because what would tighnari do if you’d got hurt under his protection? he couldn’t grasp how guilty he’d feel at the mere thought of it.
the silence between you both was deafening other than the small huffs of breath you took from your run to him. tighnari’s sweaty hands clenched the fabric of his cloak just as you played with the hem of your clothes, the two of you blurting out “i missed you” at the same moment. taken back, the two of you let out nervous laughs.
“y/n can i be honest with you?” tighnari asked in light of the situation. you nodded, the rate your heart was going at could break your ribcage, “i really like you - and i want something with you but-”
“foxes mate for life and that’s a big commitment for a human?” you finished his words, a lump in your throat as tighnari’s eyes met yours. he looked bewildered, brows knitting.
“yeah… i- how did you know?” he stumbled his words a little. you hadn’t exactly rejected him so he couldn’t feel down in the dumps but his ears flattened in worry that you caught onto quickly.
“i borrowed your notes once and you’d left that specific part highlighted unlike the rest,” you studied him just as much as you studied his works, you mused to yourself, “i really like you too, nari.”
he didn’t know which part in particular had made his ears perk up as quick as they did or made his tail wag as if it was caught in a desert sandstorm but he admired you more than he had ever done before - not only that but you called him by his nickname. not tighnari and certainly not master tighnari as collei had once got you to jokingly call him but nari. your face met the material of his clothing once more as he pulled you back into his chest, his arms tight around you. he buried his face into your soft hair, drowning himself in your familiar scent that he’d been longing for so long.
at that moment, tighnari couldn’t care about the rustles of nearby bushes or the splashes of a frog leaping through a puddle not far from your feet. he simply cared about your touch and warmth at his fingertips.
˚ ✦ . .   ˚ . . ✦ ˚ . ★⋆.
you hummed, tapping your pen against your lips as you re-read the text in front of you again. it must have been the fifth time you had read the same sentence but it wasn’t quite sticking. you were growing frustrated, after all this particular textbook was key to your ongoing research into the origins and scientific families of the kalpalata lotus.
“i can almost hear the cogs turning in your head.” his voice chimed as the leafy curtain of his hut lifted, the fox stepping out into the sunlight with a wide arm stretch. you’d risen early to accompany collei and some forest rangers on a patrol in tighnari’s place, letting him sleep longer than he usually gets. after the patrol was over, you’d opted for sitting outside his hut with your studies instead of hovering over his desk.
“can your brilliant hearing read this damn sentence for me?” you replied with sass, too tired for his taunting this early in the morning. tighnari chuckled, brushing your hair back with his hand before he placed a kiss to your forehead.
“it’s not even midday and you’re like a boiling pot of water on a stove, dear.” tighnari could tease you all day if it was permitted but he knew your boundaries. you sighed, exasperated as you realised you’d began to overwork yourself again. the pen you was holding found its way onto your parchment and tighnari’s lips curled into a smile as you wrapped your arms around his waist.
“you know, i could always do with a research partner.” you mumbled into his stomach. tighnari raised a brow, running his hand through your hair.
“is this your way of inviting me to do a research project with you?” you nodded wordlessly in response to his question, listening to his hum as he pretended to debate your offer, “i don’t see why not. not many scholars get to say they’ve released work with their partners, after all.”

If you're still accepting requests, can I make one for Leona, Jade, Jamil, and Vil (Picked them for their Signature Spell. Feel free to pick someone else if you have someone in mind) reacting to a Male Reader who, given to be from another world, is immune to any and all magical spells inflicted onto them.
Simply put, any magic spells, such as being blasted by a fireball, will not affect him, as well as their Signature Spells. However, he still could be hit by any debris the spell caused.
Another downside, any and all magic includes any beneficial magic, such as any spells that heals wounds, forcing him to recover the hard way.
Hope this is good, thank you!
Their M! S/O w/ an Immunity to Spells
Characters: Leona Kingscholar, Jade Leech, Jamil Viper, and Vil Schoenheit Requester: @beawesome04 A/N: These are shorter than intended, but I do hope they're good! ⚠️ Spoilers/Trigger Warnings for: Mentions of near-death experiences, unknowing-attempted murder (Leona's Part), unknowing-implied attempted-slavery (Jamil's Part), and accidental-attempted cursing (Vil's Part) ⚠️

╚═════ Leona Kingscholar ════════════════════════╝
🦁 Early on in your relationship, Leona had overblotted, which resulted in multiple people coming close to being affected by his unique spell
🦁 As the magic spread throughout his mind, he began to act more erratic and animalistic, which allowed you an opening to tackle him down and try getting him to snap out of his rage-driven state
"Y/N!" Yuu screamed.
"King's Roar!" Leona yelled, gripping your arm tightly as everyone around looked in fear.
🦁 You smirked and lifted your opposite arm, and everyone saw you were holding your wand. And as you angled it to knock Leona out, his pupils began to widen, changing from his blot-form to his normal one. The one where he loved you and cared for you... not the one who would try harming, nonetheless killing you
"Y/N..." You heard him mumble.
"Night, Leona."
🦁 All of a sudden, the Housewarden fell to the ground unconscious. Which made everyone around look at you in shock -how did you survive his unique spell?! Whenever it was cast, whatever he touches would turn to sand. So why weren't you sand?!
🦁 Dodging the topic of your immunity limits and how it worked as Yuu, Grim, and the other first years looked at you with both shock and curiosity, you spoke aloud to all hearing you
"His blot should wear off here in a couple minutes. But be prepared for him to be slightly more aggressive than normal, okay?"
"How in the name of the Great Seven?!"

╚═════ Jade Leech ════════════════════════════╝
🍄 You were planning a surprise party for Jade and Floyd that week, as their birthday(s?) was(were?) approaching. So, while you normally stayed completely calm, you couldn't help but be more peppy and happy the past few days
🍄 Jade was curious on why you were more giddy, so, in his normal fashion, he had approached you with a plan of his own in his mind
🍄 He knew you were immune to magic and couldn't change what affected you and not, but maybe you would react differently to his magic? Perhaps with the time you've spent in this world, your magic evolved?
"Y/N, may I speak with you in private?" Your boyfriend asked.
"Huh? Oh, yeah! I'll catch up with you in a little bit." You told Azul over the phone, as he was in on the whole birthday-plan.
🍄 Jade walked with you into his room, closing the door, but not locking it behind him. And as he walked up to you and had you look into his eyes, you knew what he was going to do
"Shock the Heart."
🍄 You made your face look slightly dazed as he smirked and cooed you, patting your head as he began to ask you the predicted question
"What are you hiding from me?"
🍄 Deciding to tease him a bit, you kept your act up and answered in a slightly-drawling tone
"Azul and I wanted to give you a raise for your birthday."
"Oh~ How interesting! I must admit that is quite sweet, my love."
🍄 Reaching up and pulling his hat off your head before running off with it being on your own, you laughed and yelled back at him
"Sorry for the lie, Jadey! Just had to cure my boredom! You will never find it out until later!"
🍄 You poor, naive magic-user... Jade always gets what he wants. He did get you after all~

╚═════ Jamil Viper ════════════════════════════╝
🐍 As you calmly spoke to Kalim a ways away, you noticed a couple students anxiously walking away from the kitchen, more speed being taken into account until they slowed as they got further away
🐍 Your eyebrows furrowed sadly as you realized why they were doing that. Jamil had overblotted a couple weeks ago and nobody wanted to be around him except Kalim, Yuu, and obviously his lover, you
🐍 Looking at Kalim, you excused yourself before walking inside the kitchen to check on Jamil
🐍 You noticed how empty the kitchen was, so you followed the closest footsteps you could hear, which eventually led you to your boyfriend's dorm room
🐍 Holding your hand up and knocking, you heard Jamil tell you to leave, to which you scoffed and opened the door with your spare key before closing it behind you carefully
"Alright, Jamil. I understand why the others are avoiding you, but why are you avoiding me so much?"
🐍 Burrowing his face deeper into his pillow, you sighed, walking up and sitting beside him and reaching up to pull his hood down and massage his scalp like you would after a long day was finally over and you decided to stay over
"I tried using you without your consent... I should be asking you why you aren't avoiding me..." He grumbled, making your eyes widened slightly before going back to normal as you giggled. "Why are you laughing?"
"Jamil. When we first got together, I swore that I wouldn't judge you for any kind of mistake, no matter the size. You promised the same thing. I know if I did what you did, you wouldn't hold it against me or fear me, so why would I do anything else than the same?"
🐍 Looking into your eyes before tearing up, Jamil sat up and hugged you, his face burrowing into your stomach as you smiled gently and reached for your phone to tell Kalim that you and Jamil were going to take the rest of the night off due to 'personal issues'
"I'll always be there for you, Jamil. No matter what."
"Thank you, Y/N."

╚═════ Vil Schoenheit ══════════════════════════╝
👑 You knew how Vil's unique spell worked because Rook wouldn't stop talking about one of the first times he had ever needed to use it during class
👑 He asked if you were immune to everyone's spells, to which you shrugged. You hadn't had anyone just walk up to you and try blasting you into space yet, and you didn't plan on it happening yet either
"Understandable." Rook said, looking around before gasping dramatically, wishing you goodbye, and running into the nearby wooden-area surrounding Pomefiore.
"He's an oddball..." You thought.
👑 Walking through the halls and into Vil's room, you popped your spine and sat down on his bed, making sure you wouldn't do anything wrong to the sheets or flooring. Your boyfriend may love you, but he still loves the cleanliness of his room
👑 When he finally arrived, you began to tell Vil about everything that happened that day. From Riddle overblotting back in Heartslabyul and you befriending the magic-less human from another world, much like you, you told him everything in so much detail
👑 Vil began to get annoyed as you spoke, it wasn't that he hated you speaking. Not at all. He just needed a couple minutes to silence to calm down his pounding migraine
"And then a member of his own dorm began egging him, which sent him into a typical frenzy-"
"Fairest One Of All."
👑 As Vil touched your forehead, you looked at his hand, wondering why he was telling you to fall asleep until he kissed your forehead, and when he opened his eyes and saw your confused face, he looked at his hand in shock
"Oh Great Seven... I did not just try using my magic against you... did I?" He asked himself.
"I guess. Eh, it ain't that bad. I guess I can answer Rook's question now though. Unique spells don't work on me either. Sweet."
"Y/N take this seriously!" He said.
"I am! Maybe I could make good money on this..."
"Y/N!"

Character: King!Bucky Barnes (Medieval AU)
A Knights, Kings, and Knaves Story
Summary: you serve Duke Rogers, but when his friend, the king, takes an interest, you find your work in turmoil.
Note: I've wanted to do medieval drabbles for years. I bit the bullet and now we're all doomed. I was torn on whether to make this one Stucky however... I think Steve deserves a wifey in his own installment.
As usual, I would appreciate any and all feedback. I’m happy to once more go on this adventure with all of you! Thank you in advance for your comments and for reblogging ❤️

The shanks of brown hair rests between your fingers as you angle the shears. The snips is precise and careful. You work diligently, wordlessly, as the duke stares at his reflection. He’s lost in thought as you are cautious of his mindless tilts and tweaks.
“It is looking rather better since Kennick’s butchering,” he muses. “I feared I might sport a monk’s pate anon.”
“Your grace,” your keep your focus set, not looking up as you snip away another length of hair.
“Not much shorter than that. Winter will be here soon enough,” Lord Rogers girds. “What of the beard? Shall I keep it for warmth as well?”
“Your grace,” the reply rises again, a different lilt to it which says, it is upon your prerogative.
“Hm, many other lords I’ve seen as late sport the like. As our king does,” he continues on. “Is it very common of me to do the same?”
You draw a lock away from his face and stretch it above his forehead. Your voice does not rise as you bite the tip of your tongue with great concentration. You think of Kennick and the lashes on his palms. He is only a young boy; how could he be asked to do such a delicate task?
A knock rattles the door. The lord’s eyes flash in his reflection as you peek at the mirror. There isn’t alarm, only attention. He flicks his fingers.
“Please, pip, see to it,” he commands.
You lay down the shears and leave him. You go to the door and draw it open. It pushes from the other side and you stumble back behind it. You nearly fold completely as you recognise the bearing of the broad shoulders. It is hardly a surprise for the king to appear, only that you forgot yourself in the calm of the previous moment.
You keep your knees bent and head down as King Bucky strides towards the duke at his looking glass. You gently close the door as the liege receives barely a glance from the man at ease on his cushioned chair. He huffs and tugs his ear.
“Is that how you receive your king?” King Bucky taunts as Rogers swats away his hand.
“I wouldn’t want to make a mess,” the duke retorts and gestures again, “pip, it is still uneven.”
You set your chin and return to the vanity table. You pick up the shears and nod your head, “your highness.”
The king does not answer and he leans on the other corner of the table. He crosses his arms, the deep blue leather of his jacket straining. The duke tufts his chin again, paying heed to the patch of silver there.
“I see you’ve recovered from your recent bout of baldness,” the king mocks. “Your head is much too lumpy for it.”
“Have you come only to jeer me?” Rogers asks dully.
You measure another shank and trim carefully. Often, you’ve done similar for your fellow servants. Usually with duller blades or a razor to the scalp. The duke usually only requires a tray or a flagon of you. The request was unexpected but undeniable.
“Forgive me for disturbing you and your barber. I’ve a fine man from Rivard who sees to my own. A gold coin would’ve brought him to your stead,” the king suggests.
“A waste of good coin,” Rogers sniffs. “Looking at you, I’d never assume any barber saw to that nest.”
The king takes affront and smooths his dark tresses, a subtle wave near the bottom of his strands as they frame his chin. “Eh, you speak treasonous words. To insult a king’s hair is next to blasphemy, duke.”
“Shall I take the cattails in hand?” Rogers counters.
King Bucky chortles, “if I didn’t fear you’d aim them at my hide, I’d agree to it.”
You peek up at the noise of his laughter. You’ve not heard it often from the king, not that you are often in his presence. He seems of a bright disposition that day. Even so, you flinch as your eyes snag on his. You quickly put your mind to the shears.
“Mm, and what has brought on your good mood?”
“Why shouldn’t I be in fine spirits?”
“I ask why you should,” Rogers, turns his head and you recoil. A dusting of hair falls from the towel around his shoulders.
“I should ask why you seem rather the opposite,” the king mutters.
“I am not... unhappy. Pensive,” Rogers admits. “You’ve heard from Stark.”
“Aye, whoever doesn’t hear him when he opens his mouth?”
“Hm, I would think a rasher response of you,” Rogers intones as he turns to the mirror again and you comb your fingers from his hairline to his crown to compare. The king shifts as you sense his observation of your reflection.
“Isn’t it what he intends? What good is it to feed his pride? If he should like to put on this display, then he shall make himself a fool. I’ll be all the more pleased for it to be at my hand.”
“You don’t think it is some ploy?”
“Of course it is? A tournament of kings? For what purpose but to put to mind the matter of war? To suggest that should we not play nice, a horse and shield might be appropriate.”
You shift around to the back of the duke’s head, the king leans in. His movement draws your gaze and you find him watching your hands. It makes them more prudent.
“I would not speak it into this plain, but do you not worry for his machinations? At any tourney, there are those who might take a deathly blow, or slip beneath their steed’s hooves--”
“When did you grow so cautious? I can lift a sword and sit a horse--”
“Should either be sabotaged? Should your plate be poisoned at the feast--”
“Is there something you are aware of that I should be?” The king challenges.
“Only that he is his father’s heir, in many ways,” Rogers harrumphs.
“You think I should fear a dagger up a sleeve when you’ve a servant with two so near your eye?”
You pause and the duke tuts, “keep on, pip,” Rogers orders as he waves off the king’s devious suggestion.
“Ah, gentle hands, I see, forgive the poor humour,” he unfolds his arms and grips the edge of the table as he leans. “Rogers, you will be close. Vigilant as ever.”
The duke sighs, “the winter nears.”
“Is that it? You never liked the cold, I should’ve guessed it.”
“I can bear the cold, but travel would be arduous.”
“You would wait for the spring?”
“Perhaps,” the duke slides a ring to the tip of his finger and spins it. “And Thor? Has he sent his agreement to this Field of Silk?”
“I was to ask you the same. I presumed with how you get on, he might prefer you as his messenger,” the king says. “Very well, I will think on your concern.” He clucks and stands, moving closer as he watches you with intent. “I am surprised, I thought you would be most eager for a tournament. You were the Knight of the Lilies for years anon.”
“A time ago,” Rogers rebuffs.
“And time is still left,” King Bucky reaches again to tweak his ear, “I know they are rather big, but try not to snip them off, eh?” He japes as Rogers tilts away from his touch with a growl. “I shall leave you to your grooming, though perhaps next time you should just call the stabler.”
The king strides away as the duke pushes his ring to his knuckle. The shears continue to snip noisily in the silence. The door announces the king’s departure with a sonorous echo.
“My luggage will need prepared,” Rogers resigns.

Dating Veritas Ratio hc's
Out of all the hsr men, I'd imagine he'd be the most irritated figuring out he has a crush
A crush? A stupid little manifestation of his irrational emotions???
He'll stew over it a while, picking it apart like the most complex of equations, his stoic expression not wavering
So what if he's around you often? So what if he unconsciously seeks you out, it doesn't mean anything...
He'll hammer that narrative over and over until it becomes truth, or as close to truth as his mind will allow
You'll act like a married couple, though
He'll scold you without any real irritation, eyes narrowing as he pulls you closer to just fix the problem himself
A leaf in your hair? Your sleeve unrolled? Coffee stain on your shirt?
Honestly, how could you be such a careless mess...
Wait, no. No don't go, you're his careless mess—
It'll become a new normal to just have him occasionally once over your appearance, looking for things he can fix and doing so without a word
He also takes it upon himself to make you a healthier and more rounded person
No you're not eating garbage calories for the third meal in a row, yes you are drinking a full glass of water as he reads you excerpts from his book on how quantum chemistry applies to theoretical engineering under Nous's 63rd law of imaginary quantum information science, and there will be a quiz after so pay attention
If asked about why he's often seen by your side, he'll usually answer with a glare and an insult, commenting on the lack of even borderline decent conversationalists around
You're probably not really going to get an actual confession out of him, because that would force him to admit defeat to those annoyingly persistent feelings that just won't leave him be
If you take the initiative of backing him into a corner, you get to watch him flounder a bit, an expression of agitation and a growing warmth throughout his whole body as he skirts the topic with overly complex excuses
He's a big fan of doing different things in the same space, talking isn't necessary
Occasionally, when he remembers you're still there, he'll glance up from his book to see how you're faring, before getting back into it
He has a bit of a staring problem, in a way
It's just that he's so up in his head often, usually easily loosing sight of his surroundings, and you just happen to be the most pleasing thing to keep his eyes on
He'll look away when he notices you staring back, but it's not long before you feel his eyes trained on you again, as if studying every little movement as he works out equations in his head
Of course he does need alone time, usually spent reading in the bath
But that period seems to be getting shorter and shorter as his focus is constantly broken by unconditionally looking around to find you while deep in thought
He will absolutely use you as a blank canvas to throw ideas and thoughts on if he can't work through something in his head
By explaining it to you in mind numbing detail, he'll usually run headfirst into the solution, and it's a treat to watch his eyes widen ever so slightly as he pauses, immediately thanking you curtly before moving straight to writing
Your sense of curiosity is his favorite trait, the one he wants to nurture and encourage you to feed
He's not expecting you to be as smart as him, that would be an impossible expectation, but he will not allow you to give in to ignorance, to get in the habit of complacency, as it is the enemy of growth
He's an intimidating figure to most, both from his status and sharp tongue, so it's not uncommon for low-level scientists with something to prove to seek you out
Sometimes to get information on him, sometimes to test your intelligence, as if trying to prove themselves better than the company the great Dr. Ratio chooses to keep
He's quick to nip that in the bud, though
His crossed arm stoic faced glare would scare away anyone who isn't keen on being picked apart verbally
He'll claim it's all to avoid tainting you with their idiocracy, and that you really shouldn't keep such company
Tries to use selfish logical excuses constantly to get things he wants from you
"I've already chosen your hotel room for this trip, it'll be next to mine so I don't have to travel as far to compare notes in the morning."
"Honestly. You're coming with me to dinner so I won't waste my time working around your schedule later."
"No. You are absolutely not going to get a closer look at those monsters because I'm not cleaning up the mess you'll no doubt get yourself into by being so reckless."
"You're really going to waste your valuable time entertaining those IPC buffoons? They have more credits than brain cells. Stay here, lest their ignorance rub off on you."
He means well, under the insults and unapproachable demeanor
And, at a certain point, he really can't imagine the rest of his life without you close by

Tom Blyth x Actress!Reader
TBOSAS Vogue Interviews — Rachel + Tom
(next part will be you and Josh’s interview)
Tumblr media
no descriptors other than reader being shorter than tom but i use she / her. click [HERE] for the table of contents for all things tom x actress!reader
for the interviews, rachel and tom are still paired up since they’re the leads, and you’re with josh. sorry hunter hshxhsdi. also in this tbosas has been out for a month so the cast is allowed to talk specific scenes and give “spoilers”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The first bit of the video shows short clips of some answers, but no context as to what the questions are.
“Oh that’s an easy one, my girlfriend,” Tom can’t help but smile.
Rachel playfully slaps him with the card. “I was going to say her!”
~
“Pepper jack,” Rachel shrugs.
“Maybe… maybe a sharp cheddar?” Tom laughs.
~
Tom sighs, “that was quite a hard scene to film. After each take I’d ask if she was alright at least a couple of times.”
“Honestly the games as a whole, because I missed a lot of the stunt training.”
~
THE INTERVIEW —
“Hi Vogue, I’m Rachel Zegler.”
“And I’m Tom Blyth. Today we’re here to ask each other some questions, rapid fire.”
Rachel shuffles the interview cards around. “Okay first question, what would you say was the most difficult scene to film and why? Ooh I have my answer already.”
“You go first, I’m still thinking,” Tom laughs.
“Well for me, the most difficult scenes physically were honestly… the games as a whole. I missed a lot of the stunt training so to have one of my first scenes be me running like crazy screaming for Jessup, it was pretty intense.”
Tom blushes a little. “Sort of piggy backing off of Rachel’s answer, the hardest physically I’d definitely say my scene with Josh when we’re running out of the arena. The first few takes were stopped fairly quickly because either he or I would trip. But the most difficult emotionally, the scene in the cabin with Coriolanus and Nova May.”
“Aww,” Rachel puts her hand over her heart. “That’s was so cool to watch you both but yeah I can for sure see why it would be difficult. Did you guys rehearse it a lot?”
Tom shakes his head. “Not at all actually. We ran through the lines a few times but as far as acting out the whole scene, not until we were on set and they wanted a run through. And thankfully after the third take they were satisfied. That was quite a hard scene to film. After each take I’d ask if she was alright at least a couple of times.”
Off camera, someone asks “how long have you guys been together?”
“Pretty much since we met,” Tom tries, and fails to hide his smile. “So she and Josh were actually cast on the same day in June of 2022. At that point Rachel and I had already been cast, and the 4 of us, it just so happened that we were all in London for one thing or another and we all went out to dinner that night. Knew I fancied her right away, and I wanna say it wasn’t even a couple of weeks later that I asked her to be my girlfriend. Sorry I know I went off topic. To answer your actual question, almost a year and a half.”
Tom and Rachel chat for a couple of minutes as cameras are moved around to capture different angles.
“Next question, something a lot more lighthearted. If you were a cheese, what—”
“Pepper jack,” Rachel shrugs, not elaborating.
Tom bursts out laughing. “You had that answer ready awfully quick.”
“What can I say, I’m a cheese girly.”
“I guess that’s my go. Pepper jack is a good answer by the way. I’ll go cheddar. Maybe… maybe a sharp cheddar?”
Rachel taps her chin as if considering what Tom just said. “Yeah, I could see sharp cheddar. Okay guys sorry they’re motioning behind cameras that we have to speed it up. This is rapid fire and we’ve only answered two questions, sorry!”
“Sorry guys! Okay okay next question. Who is your favorite person to run lines with? Oh that’s an easy one, my girlfriend.”
“I was gonna say her!” Rachel faces the camera. “You guys, she’s seriously the best person for that. She memorizes lines sooo fast. By the end she won’t need a script to help you and she’ll be able to still correct you if you mess up!”
“What — oh wait I’ve already asked that question,” Tom flips through the cards, “okay here we go. If you could play any other character in the film, who would you play?”
Rachel claps and points at Tom. “We were just talking about this! I’d either want to play your character because I think it would be so fun to kind of switch to the villain. Or Nova May because hello she’s a badass.”
“Do you know what, and I swear I’m not making this up, my answers are the same as yours. either Nova May because I feel like she’s the opposite of Coriolanus in a way. Or Lucy Gray because I love that even after the games, she’s stayed true to who she is and she doesn’t let Coriolanus corrupt her.”
Rachel and Tom chat again as cameras and lights are moved around. They each do 2 questions.
“Okay we’ve each got one more question. Ooh this one’s fun! You’re stuck on a deserted island for a month and can have five things with you, what do you bring? And it says people don’t count,” Rachel thinks for a moment, “you go first because I need to give this some real thought.”
“No people, okay let’s see… my phone, one of those solar power generators so I could plug things in, phone charger, a book, and mini fridge. I’m sure I could cook some things up and be able to save them for later.”
Rachel nods in approval. “I am going to copy your first three things because I think I’d go crazy not being able to at least write out my thoughts in my notes app or something, or record what’s happening on my camera. But for my last two things, a guitar now that I can play, and… oh crap this is harder than I thought. And… a surfboard! If you’re stuck on an island that’s the perfect time to pick up a new hobby.”
“I think we’re finally getting the hang of this, of course right at the end. Oh I have the last question that’s right. Let’s see… what three characters from other shows or films do you think would do well in the Hunger Games?”
“I love that question!” Rachel nearly falls out of her chair. “Definitely someone from Game of Thrones — ooh or House of the Dragon! You know what, Juliette would do really good. A bow and arrow can take you really far in the games and that’s her go-to weapon.”
Tom smiles and blushes once again at the mention of his girlfriend, or at least the character she plays.
Rachel thinks about her last two answers. “Joel Miller from The Last of Us, and Spencer Reid from Criminal Minds.”
“Why Spencer?”
“He’s a literal genius. I bet he’d be able to rig a bunch of traps that no one would suspect and he’d be able to eliminate most of the other tributes without any physical contact.”
“Ahh I didn’t think of that. Hmm also from House of the Dragon, Aemond Targaryen. He’s quite ruthless isn’t he, he’d have no problem getting rid of the other tributes. And also Clint Barton, like you said because a bow and arrow is a really good weapon to have. Also… Uhtred Ragnarsson from The Last Kingdom.”
Someone behind the camera says it’s time to wrap it up.
Tom smiles at the camera, “thank you so much for having us.”
“We hope you enjoyed watching, bye!”

BRF Reading - 27th of May, 2025
This is speculation only
Cards drawn on the 27th of May, 2025
I'm not happy about this reading. I'm putting it up as a check on myself, not because I want it to be true.
I have been uneasy about The King's health for a few months now - not in a 'he's going to drop dead tomorrow' kind of way, but just a growing sense of unease, and the comments about his health worsening that I see online are starting to resonate more and more with me. This could be all me. I do not want The King to die. I don't like him, but I want him to live longer (primarily so Prince William has more time as The Prince of Wales and so more time with his family, which is selfish of me, but there you go).
To settle myself, I did a reading on The King's health, and I asked a very blunt question about how long he has left with us. I drew the same card four times as an answer. I'm going to put the question, the card, and my interpretation under the cut. Please do not read if this will upset you in anyway.
I want to go another reading after this on a different topic, just to shift the energy on the blog.
Question: When will King Charles die?
As I said above, I asked this question 4 times, and drew the same card 4 times as an answer. That card was
The Eight of Wands
Tumblr media
In terms of timing, Wands is the fastest suit in the tarot. Traditionally the timing of the Wands suit is days, so eight wands equals eight days.
I was shocked when I saw that card. I can not and do not believe that The King will die in eight days. That is why I kept asking the question, and the Eight of Wands kept coming up as an answer.
Taking a broader view of this as a timing card:
The general meaning of the Eight of Wands is quick action, things moving swiftly. So it could mean that The King's cancer spreads or is spreading quicker than expected, so he has a shorter time to live than the doctors thought originally (I am assuming here that he dies from the cancer he has, which is still being treated).
As a timing card, Wands are fire signs, so this could mean in the season of Leo (approx July 23 to August 22) Sagittarius (approx Nov 22 to Dec 21), or Aries (approx March 21 to April 20). Leo season starts 8 weeks from today, which is something to bear in mind (yes, I took down the calendar and counted weeks).
Looking at this astrologically, each of the minor arcana cards corresponds to a certain astrological sign. Cards 2,3,4 of each suit are the Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn), cards 5,6,7 are the Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius), and cards 8,9,10 are the Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces). Wands represent the suit of Fire, the number 8 indicates a mutable sign, mutable fire is Sagittarius, so that puts the passing of the King in Sagittarius season (Nov 22-Dec 21).
The last way to look at this is to put the planets and the signs together. The Eight of Wands corresponds to Mercury in Sagittarius ((see https://labyrinthos.co/blogs/learn-tarot-with-labyrinthos-academy/astrology-and-tarot-correspondences-the-minor-arcana-pip-cards for an explanation of how this is worked out), so The King could pass any time that Mercury is in Sagittarius, a transit that happens roughly once a year. The next time Mercury is in Sagittarius is October the 30th 2025 to November 20th 2025 (Mercury turns retrograde and backs out of Sagittarius during this time), and then the 12th of December 2025 to the 1st of January 2026 (Mercury is direct for this time).
The overall energy I am getting from the Eight of Wands is 'quicker than expected', so I expect The King to pass from cancer sooner than anticipated. Timing is not my strong point, and while it could be during Leo season, or Oct 30-Nov 20, the period with the most 'hits' is Sagittarius season (22 Nov to 21 Dec), with the overlap of Mercury on Sagittarius from 12th Dec 25 to 1st Jan 26.
I hope this doesn't happen. I would be delighted if The King lived for another 3,4,5 etc years. However, I do think that he will pass sooner than is expected, and I am keeping an eye on those periods above, just in case, especially Leo Season (July 23rd to Aug 22nd, particularly the early weeks of this) and most especially Sagittarius season (22nd Nov to 21 Dec, especially the period from 12th Dec to 21st Dec).
All the 'danger' periods together are:
Leo Season (approx 23nd July to 22st August)
Mercury in Sagittarius 1, 30th October to 20th November (Mercury turns retrograde during this time)
Sagittarius Season (approx 22nd Nov to 21st Dec)
Mercury in Sagittarius 2, 12th December to 1st January (Mercury is direct).
The overall message is that The King will die a lot sooner than expected. The dates above are my attempts to refine my timing skills and put a date on the event, which may or may not be correct.

Can people with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome or joint hypermobility do martial arts?
Hey!
As for the EDS part, it will depend on the specific type. There's 13 of them, and a lot of them will have hypermobility as a symptom, but many will also have unrelated symptoms that will make someone unable (or less able) to do that kind of activity. EDS=/=hEDS.
To literally go type by type;
aEDS can come with both low muscle tone and motor delay.
BCS actually only has hypermobility as a potential factor since people who are blind and/or deaf can very much do martial arts.
cvEDS comes with cardiac problems; I won't pretend like a know a whole lot about this one (because I don't), but this generally means fatigue, shortness of breath, etc., which will disqualify a lot of people from martial arts.
cEDS doesn't have any of the issues mentioned above, instead even minor traumas can result in atrophic scarring here. If they did martial arts they would have a lot of that I assume.
clEDS, hEDS, pEDS just have the joint hypermobility and/or instability (as far as the relevant symptoms go) to my understanding.
dEDS mostly has the extreme skin fragility, but also heavily increased risk of hemorrhages, shorter limbs (which you can do martial arts with, but you're definitely at a disadvantage), potential motor delay, etc.
kEDS is similar to aEDS in that it comes with both motor delay and low muscle tone, but it also has increased risk of arterial tears and aneurysyms which is almost definitely a "no" for contact sports.
mcEDS comes with contractures (as the c in the name implies), muscle weakness (as the m in the name implies), motor delay (not all people with mcEDS will be able to walk independently for example), etc.
mEDS has the m for myopathy, but it can also cause contractures, muscle atrophy, motor delay, joint instability, etc.
spEDS can come with so many things - low muscle tone, contractures, limited arm rotation, motor delay, bones that fracture more easily, etc.
vEDS is probably the one least likely to allow a person to do martial arts since the aneurysm/rupture/dissection risk would be through the roof. That can kill someone very, very fast. There are more symptoms of course, but this alone probably makes the answer a "no".
There are also other conditions that come with hypermobility that aren't anywhere on the EDS spectrum and there it will be on a case-by-case basis as well. People with Marfan syndrome will have cardiovascular problems and might be unable to do that kind of stuff, while someone with a different disorder might have no issues at all.
Obviously there is also the topic of chronic pain that a lot of people with hypermobility-associated conditions have (not so much hypermobility alone). For some people the amount of pain they're in will make them unable to do martial arts, for some it won't be an issue. It's very personal. The same goes for fatigue; it can present very widely between people with the same disorder.
It does also depend on where the person's hypermobility is. I can't really imagine that someone with craniocervical instability would do wrestling (I could be wrong, of course) while someone who's "only" dislocating their digits could probably do every martial art that's out there since despite being painful it probably won't kill them. Not everyone has hypermobility that affects literally every joint in their body.
Not every person with hypermobility will also be dislocating their joints (or only specific ones, for example), but the effects of dislocations also depends on the person. Some people just fix it themselves on the go and move on like it's no big deal, others need professional medical help. Here it also kinda matters what kind of martial art you mean - in regulated fights, if someone does dislocate something, the fight stops until the problem is fixed. In street fights, it obviously doesn't.
So I guess the answer is: maybe? IDK? It depends on what your character actually has. If they only have hypermobility (that's not in the neck), they probably can do whatever - and if they have vEDS they probably shouldn't.
Hope this helps,
mod Sasza

Finally Ironed out some ninja designs! I Usually don’t share references but with the behind the scenes stuff I’m doing on my Skybound project I don’t have much else I can share yet.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There is a few headcanon/ Fic stuff in references and powers and the all ninja shot is for first part of Skybound project.
I can share Skybound project Updates! I’m making lots of progress! Trying to focus on p1 stuff so I can put full force into the p2 stuff!
|
V
P1 may be ready Summer? 2025
My Skybound talk Video:
* God I have so much to ramble about just when I think I covered something a new angle gets me
* How TF am I supposed to sanely transition from the wholesome reasons I love this season into the horribly problem stuff. Sigh*
* Actually studying videos covering serious topics to navigate how to word things.
* I have to stop drawing so much art for everything or no one will ever see this video.
* The desire to animate my character lipsinking to me is an evolutionary disadvantage I will resist.
Cannon compliant Animatic:
* Song is Ironed out fought a while adding voice lines and I’m way more excited than I thought I’d be for this animatic because I thought it would be overshadowed by how strongly I feel about the other 2. But damn.
* I’m storyboarding after like my life depends on it rn
* Really trying to capture Nya’s character Ark which sent me right back to the video script because I remembered that one reddit post calling her a bitch and rage wrote for 2 hours.
* I am determined to make people see how good her character arc actually is.
* Throwing Jay shade in this one lol he was kinda awful even with being manipulated.
* Trying to convey clear Ideas and story through art is pain but also addicting.
* This is meant as a leading to both part two animatics, but bbnb Kai is shorter than wytyaa Kai. The difference is significant everything else pre dinner with Nadakhan is the same. The other head cannons are almost aligned as far as I know. It’s JUST Kai. What do I do with him?!? Lmao Might just distance him from the other ninja so you can’t tell how tall he is. Thank goodness he is the most gullible and first to wish it all away
P2 out like December if I’M lucky TT
Even though I should focus on first things first, I can’t help myself. these fics have lived rent free in my brain for like 2 years and despite plans shifting the excitement of drawing the story I read and put to music in my head is a force of nature. Thanks Adhd
Wytyaa:
* I storyboarded about half the scenes I want to. Songs are decided but a few parts I’m waiting for the rest of the story for.
* I think I’m going to mess with color palette. I really want to capture the emotion and intensity. I’m learning the full potential of my art and
* I need Final ch released for maping out the second half.
* BUT I AM NOT READY TO READ IT @mondothebombo And from what you told me I don’t think I’ll be able to finish P1 by then. cries*
* I wanna capture the feeling reading wytyaa.
* May make my wytyaa specific refs so I can make animatic art I can post early.
Bbnb
* It’s all storyboarded and half animated
* Thinking about redoing most the earlier stuff, consistency has been a problem
* Also was to mess with colors, dark backgrounds and intense colors.
* I fought with my ref forever to find good enough lightning scar colors cause figuring out the right amount of contrast is pain.
* So now I want to redraw my bbnb scar references a third time.
* May draw other bbnb specific refs so I can make some art for the animatic I can post here early or on on my old A03 book
If you have Any questions feel free to leave an ask! I answer all eventually sometimes I do save em up though so if I didn’t answer something yet, Sorry I will get to you.

hello tumblr user faerghusfucker, I love your character design takes. The detail in the Felix hair take fascinates me, because I personally know nothing about hair. Do you have any other hair-headcanons about other characters in the game?
hello tumblr user maxthewickedgoblin!!! the answer is yes i do, and i just need to preface this post by stating just how excited this ask got me. i got it in the middle of working on a pile of assignments and i decided to make answering it a reward for when i finished them all bc this is a topic im so passionate abt that even just giving myself time to THINK more abt it is like a treat.
also this is the first post im making from my computer instead of my phone lol, i anticipate itll be a long one so. it's real keyboard time. btw if yall want me to expand on any of these more you need only ask and i will yap for all eternity. i hold this information in my soul all the time i love yapping abt this shit
An Eclectic Collection of FE3H Hairstyle Headcanons
ingrid's father doesn't allow her to cut her hair. it's like unwieldy long pre-ts and it looks super split ends-y, probably to make her more "marriageable" and appealing to the noblemen that he sends her proposals from. In both houses and hopes she defies his wishes by joining the army, and i think her cutting her hair is a symbol of that defiance as well. she is COMMITTING to the knighthood thing, marriage is of no concern to her, and so she changes her appearance as a result
similar thing with mercedes!!! she has the same marriage conflict as ingrid does (it's a little different with her tho, ingrid loves her father and mercedes. well you know), and i think the hair thing caries over too. she becomes a nun post-ts in houses and cuts her hair way shorter, but there's also a noticeable lack of the fluffy, wavy texture it has pre-ts. idk if this would be a requirement for nuns in the church of seiros, but it seems that in turning herself fully over to her faith, she also reduced her focus on worldly/selfish things such as fancy products for her hair and spending hours on styling it, so maybe that's why it's so much straighter in addition to being shorter
i know i already yapped abt felix FAR too much so here's a cutesy one lol i think he lets ppl play with his hair if they want to. he lets mercedes brush it and put braids in it when she misses emille and he didnt protest too hard when annette wanted to put flowers in it for the ball (spoiler for my ball felix design). he also takes SUPER good care of it. of all the characters in the game except maybe hilda, his hair routine is the most detailed. you know he has special brushes and oils and shit, his hair is SILKYYYY
you didnt think i JUST had blue lions headcanons, did you???? SURPRISE
i think dorothea's natural hair texture is her post-timeskip houses one, and in every other design she's curled it. i mean come on, she was a diva in an opera company, of course she knows how to do her hair super nice, and she carried that skill with her to the academy to try and attract a good spouse. but as we learn more about her and she grows up a little more, she starts to drop her flirty facade and be more authentic instead, and you guessed it, wearing her natural hair more :3
linhardt is VERY picky abt his hair length. obviously hes autistic and so he probably doesnt like how it feels when the cold air hits his neck. but at the same time, when his hair gets longer than his shoulders it tangles too easily, and it's far too much work to brush all of that hair. his hair has to sit AT his shoulders (in hopes he gets too busy with the war effort to cut it and so he's in-between haircuts in that one. he hates it so much. someone give my dear son a trim)
ferdinand's hair grows CRAZY fast. did you guys see the length of it in the houses timeskip????? unreal. like linhardt he starts out very meticulous with it-- a nobleman must be well-groomed, after all-- but once the war starts and he loses his territory i think he gets a lil depressed and kind of just. doesnt do it anymore lol
this one's a little out there but i think hubert is blind in his hidden eye and thats why he puts his hair over it. hes never told anyone abt it bc it would be a major weakness in battle if someone knew he had a massive blind spot. this is part of the reason he takes so well to magic thats super big and destructive so he doesnt need to be super precise abt where he's hitting. he struggles with weapons A LOT so he makes sure hes an absolute beast in magic to make up for it
marianne never learned to do her own hair, but she learned to braid horse manes after spending so much time with them and so she just applied that knowledge to herself. after getting closer to hilda, she very nervously and quietly asked if she could show her how to make her hair look nice, and homegirl JUMPED at the opportunity (hilda had been wanting to fix her gf's hair up for so long but she was being nice abt it)
lorenz lets his father cut his hair for him. need i say more
byleth (both of them) trims their hair with a dagger, and they've gotten really good at it. mercenery work doesn't pay well enough for things like hairdressers, and they've never really given much thought to their appearance until arriving at the monastery and having everyone ogle at them all the time.
that SHOULD be everything but i'll probably think of more later. i legit thought of a few new ones as i wrote them lmao. i'm actually going to school for game design rn and specializing in concept art so this is the type of shit i think of. for my career lmao it's super fun. please spam my askbox with headcanons or questions or whatever the fuck i love to talk and i think it's bonkers other ppl like to read what i write lol. see you next time with that felix drawing :3

Respect Other People's Feelings
That's it. I've read too many 'forceful positivity' posts that I need to speak up. What kind of posts? The ones which said:
Don't doom and gloom, the door is not closed yet.
Don't spend the hiatus in negativity.
Don't clock out now. It's not over.
etc.
Heck, if my cat died, I don't want people to tell me, 'don't be sad'. If I fell from a bike and cried, I don't want people to say 'don't cry. It's not that bad.' I don't need other people to tell me how I SHOULD FEEL. I can do it myself, thank you very much.
I know you mean well, but what you do is condenscending and invalidating my feelings.
I don't ask people to feel what I feel. Everybody is different. If what makes me sad doesn't make you sad, then good for you. It doesn't mean my feeling is not valid. It also doesn't give you the right to invalidate my feelings.
It's the same with blocking other blogs. It might be only me, but I never block people just because some big blogs or bnfs told me to do so. It's a form of censoring. I don't like when the government does it, so I'm not letting some internet strangers do it to me. I only block people when I personally feel annoyed, not because I was told to do so.
I read what I want to read (including those blogs which people told me to block), I watch what I want to watch, I feel whatever I feel, and I think whatever I want to think.
To be honest, I'm not even pessimistic right now. I think Bucktommy has a big chance to be reunited in Season 9, although I'm not sure in which episode or for how long. Tim could break them up again after a brief reconciliation, and make Buck date a woman just to prove that he's bisexual 🙄, but that's a topic for another discussion.
However, there are fans who are really pessimistic about the chance of Bucktommy reconciliation, and their feelings are valid.
You can say that you disagree with them because of xyz, but telling them not to feel what they feel is condescending. They have the right to express their feelings in their own posts. You can skip their posts or even block them, but invalidating their feelings is disrespectful. Who do you think you are?
It's the same with telling people to block. I prefer to say that 'this blog has posted a CSA fic or this or that. You can report/block it if you want. This is how to do it.' I don't want to tell people to block it or not. I believe they're capable to make their own decision.
The only exception is if their actions bring harm to me and/or to other people. For example, I've told people 'don't vote for Trump' because it could bring harm to the country and the world, like what's happening now.
Some (not all) BT fans who have been very optomistic since Bucktommy break up have also been moving the goalpost several times, for examples:
There's a blue truck in BTS pics of Buck said goodbye to Eddie, like the one in the Billy Boil funeral scene. Yay, Bucktommy will be reunited in the next episode.
Tommy stole a helicopter for Buck. They will be reunited in ep. 8x18.
Remember those?
I don't see other BT fans mock those fans for being wrong again and again. However, some of them still tell the others, 'don't be sad, don't be negative.' Don't they remember how they have been proven wrong several times in the past? Even worse, some of them have the audacity to laugh at Buddie fans who move their own goalpost, while those BT fans do exactly the same — just in a shorter period, with a different goalpost.
There are reasons why some BT fans don't want to clown. They might not want to be heartbroken again. Another reason is that a lot of people laugh AT the clowns, not WITH the clowns. BoBs still bring up how BT fans was sooooooooo sure that Tommy would help Athena landing the plane, or that Tommy was waiting in the blue truck while Buck said goodbye to Eddie. If you don't mind being laughed at, it's your prerogative. Some of us do mind.
Mirror mirror on the wall, who's the most hypocritical of them all?
I hope the answer is not the Bucktommy fans.

In light of current discourse: what is the status of therapy-based interventions against misogynist offenders? Are there any that do work, in the sense of reducing the recidivism rate for things like rape or domestic violence? What about changing the values of a misogynist man? Are there any interventions that do work?
Hello!
So, I'm not sure what discourse you're referring to, but hopefully this still answers your question.
Most of the sources in this post will be reviews and meta-analyses, which synthesize the results from many different studies to try and give the most accurate view. First, however, I want to point out a major limitation in almost all work concerning the effectiveness of interventions: the time frame.
This is the same issue we find with recidivism research. If you don't follow participants for a long enough time, you end up with artificially lowered recidivism rates or artificially higher intervention effectiveness.
Consider, for example, the re-arrest statistics from these two Bureau of Justice Statistics reports [1] with a 10-year follow-up period, respectively. By the end of the first year, post-release 43% of prisoners had been re-arrested. By the end of the tenth year, 82% had been re-arrested. Even if you look only at arrests that led to convictions, by the end of the first year, 24% had been arrested, and by the end of the tenth, 69% had been arrested.
In other words, data that only concerns shorter periods of time (i.e., a couple of years or less) will vastly underestimate recidivism rates, which would necessarily inflate intervention success rates.
With that in mind, the data we do have:
Domestic Violence
Programs for reducing intimate partner violence are ineffective:
This 2024 review analyzed 46 studies between 1988 and 2021 [2]. Results between studies were very heterogeneous (very different effects between different studies), and many conclusions were limited by high drop-out rates, small sample sizes, short follow-up times, and limited verification of recidivism. Ultimately, this suggests the literature on this topic is deficient.
A 2024 meta-analysis of 59 controlled outcome studies between 1988 and 2022 [3]. They found a "small but significant effect on recidivism of physical abuse," but experimental designs (which are necessary for determining causality) reduce this small effect even further to a non-significant effect (i.e., no difference between treatment and non-treatment). This article argues against the Duluth/feminist programs, but fails to provide convincing evidence that any alternative is effective (i.e., most effects were small and/or non-significant). The next article [4] also notes that Duluth programs are often composed of higher-risk and/or higher treatment-resistant perpetrators, making such comparisons between programs tenuous.
This 2022 report from a non-profit research organization concerning violence against women [4] reported on various review articles and meta-analyses (i.e., they are a review of reviews). They found that "of 29 reviews that assessed the effectiveness of behaviour change interventions for a reduction in [domestic and family violence]/[intimate partner violence], only one concluded that the intervention works." The remaining 28 reviews indicate mixed findings and/or insufficient evidence. Any positive results were associated with very small and/or non-significant effect sizes. They also make note of the significant methodological issues present in this literature. They do suggest that it is the level of observation, rather than the intervention itself, that reduces violent behavior, which obviously raises concerns for effectiveness following the intervention/observation period. (I recommend referencing this source for further information.)
This 2021 review of 31 studies [5] found moderate effect size (i.e., moderate reductions in partner violence) in the short-term (i.e., less than two years) but no difference in partner violence in the long term (i.e., greater than two years). The best short-term results were associated with a "risk-need-responsivity" treatment framework, which tailors the program to each perpetrator. Under this framework, higher risk perpetrators receive more intense treatment, perpetrator's "criminogenic needs" (i.e., specific personal factors that may be increasing their violence risk) are addressed, and factors that affect their adherence to treatment are also taken into account. However, even this framework was shown to have no difference in the long-term.
This 2021 review of 11 studies involving court-mandated batterer intervention programs [6] found "insufficient evidence to conclude that these programs are effective." In particular, victim-reported outcomes and quasi-experimental studies showed no difference in violence between the treatment and control groups.
This 2019 meta-analysis of 14 studies [7] is the same meta-analysis with a positive result mentioned in [4]. They found a significant treatment effect, with a relative decrease of 36%. In this analysis, only the Duluth model was associated with a reduction. Further examination of moderating factors found the positive result in this study was reduced (to non-significance, meaning no treatment effect) for higher quality recidivism measures (e.g., longer follow-up time) and for randomized study designs.
This 2013 narrative review [8] found "interventions for perpetrators showed equivocal results regarding their ability to lower the risk of [intimate partner violence], and available studies had many methodological flaws."
This 2011 review of 6 randomized controlled trials [9] found no effect of cognitive behavioral therapy on men's intimate partner violence.
This 2010 paper re-analyzed the data of a single randomized control trial that previously found a positive effect of a Duluth intervention [10]. They found that partner violence was reduced during the treatment, but "does not likely persist beyond the treatment period." In other words, "this outcome is more consistent with a suppression/supervision explanation rather than a therapeutic outcome explanation."
This 2005 meta-analysis of 15 experimental or quasi-experimental studies involving court-mandated batterer intervention programs [11] found no effect on victim reports. They also discuss the concerns with a "treatment dropout design", which is often used in studies that (appear) to find a large effect for these programs. In particular, this design compares "batterers who attend a program" to "batters who refuse to attend a program," which means the "control" group likely has a higher baseline recidivism rate, which would artificially inflate the "treatment effect".
This 2004 meta-analysis of 22 studies [12] found no effect of treatment nor any differences between treatment types.
Based on these 11 reviews, there is little or no reduction in family violence in response to these programs. Better-designed and higher-quality studies, in particular, find no convincing effects. These programs are also plagued by very high attrition rates (i.e., low compliance), with some estimates placing attrition at over 50% [4].
Intensive supervision appears to be the most effective method of reducing violence (i.e., offenders are violent less frequently when they know they are being observed/tracked by someone with power over them), but this obviously has limited practical application.
Sexual Violence
It's important to note that there are significant issues with sexual recidivism research, not the least of which is difficulty establishing a "true base rate" [13]. That being said, existing research on treatment of sexual offending is mixed:
This 2024 review [14] notes outstanding questions with implementation and the need for more research into specific best practices. They suggest research supports "Cognitive-Behavioral Therapies, adherence to the Risk-Needs-Responsivity model, and strength-based frameworks," but there are many outstanding questions on best practices.
This 2023 review of 8 recent studies on cognitive behavioral studies for sexual offending [15] found "lower rates of relapse in sexual criminal behavior" for the treatment groups, but examination of their paper indicates that the findings are mixed, with some studies showing a small effect and others finding no difference.
This 2023 review on 12 studies concerning child sexual abusers [16] found mixed results, with most work having significant methodological issues that prevent conclusions being drawn about the effectiveness of treatment. They note that future programs and research should target the offender's personal criminogenic factors.
This 2022 report by the same organization described for [4] also reported on various review articles and meta-analyses concerning interventions for sexual violence specifically for adolescents and young adults [17]. They found small improvements in the participant's beliefs and knowledge about sexual violence. Research on intimate partner violence was mixed, but most showed either no effect or a small effect that decreased to null over time. Of the seven reviews on sexual violence, one found a reduced likelihood of sexual assault; the other six found no impact (or insufficient evidence) on sexual assault perpetration. (Again, I recommend referencing this source for further information for adolescents/young adults specifically.)
This 2022 review on 15 studies concerning community intervention programs [18]. Treatment did not appear to significantly reduce offending in violent sex offenders, with the exception of offenders with intellectual disabilities, for which there are preliminary results suggesting a possible benefit. Results were mixed for child sex abusers, with most studies showing no effect or a small effect. However, some work suggests there may be sub-populations of offenders who are predisposed to either responding or not responding to treatment (i.e., the treatment will work for some offenders but not all). There is more evidence for an effect on offenders’ beliefs than on their behavior.
A 2021 review on offense-specific programs [19] indicated mixed findings in the research, with many studies finding a small effect of treatment. There is mixed evidence for what factors improve the success of treatment, but research suggests a better outcome for programs including some form of behavioral reconditioning, for adolescents, and for those who voluntarily attend treatment. Study quality and methods (e.g., recidivism measures, biased control groups) limit these conclusions.
This 2020 meta-analytic review on 25 studies concerning cognitive behavioral therapy [20] found a decreased recidivism rate for sexual offenders in treatment, but the results were very heterogeneous. Programs from the 1990s were more effective than earlier or later programs.
The same 2019 meta-analysis from before [7] also examined 44 studies concerning sexual offending. They found a significant treatment effect, with a relative decrease of 33%. This reduction was not found in programs that did not include some form of "arousal conditioning". However, when participants were "matched" between the control and treatment groups (i.e., ensuring groups were similar on other risk-factor characteristics), there was no significant reduction.
This 2017 meta-analysis of 27 experimental and quasi-experimental studies [21] found "promising" results but indicated that "there is too much heterogeneity between ... studies to draw a generally positive conclusion." However, analysis of their results indicated that studies employing matching or randomization did not indicate a significant difference. Studies with larger sample sizes also did not show an effect of treatment. Studies where the author was not affiliated with treatment also did not show an effect. Treatment was more effective for adolescents, volunteers, and higher-risk offenders. (Further examination illustrates that most individual studies showed no significant effect of treatment.)
This 2015 review of meta-analyses [22] indicates that most meta-analyses found either no difference or a small difference due to treatment. The two interventions with moderate to large effects were hormonal medication and surgical castration. The next most effective was classic behavioral (i.e., the behavioral modification/arousal conditioning mentioned above). Cognitive behavioral therapy was associated with a small effect. No other psychological treatment was associated with a reduction in offending. Treatment was much more effective for adolescents than for adults.
This 2015 research brief from the U.S. Department of Justice [23] found that treatment for sex offenders can be effective, but it only works for some offenders (i.e., some are treatment-resistant).
This 2015 meta-analysis of 14 studies on child sex offenders [24] found no effect of psychological treatments.
Ultimately, while some research purports to have "proven" the efficacy of therapies for sexual offenders, examination of the research is far more pessimistic. There does appear to be sub-populations of offenders that treatment is effective for, but there's been minimal research put into identifying likely "responders" from "non-responders."
Therapies for adolescents and people with intellectual disabilities are still mixed, but slightly more optimistic.
In addition, the most successful therapies are biological/behavior-based (e.g., physical or chemical castration, arousal reconditioning), which are less common today. Cognitive behavioral therapies have the most mixed results, with some studies showing no response (or even a negative response) and some showing a slight reduction in offending. (This is likely the therapy that will differ based on perpetrator characteristics.) Other therapy-based programs are not effective.
In addition, much of this work is related to perpetrators of child sex abuse, which may not be comparable to adult sex abuse [25], and indeed treatment for rapists may be even less effective than sex offenders in general [26]. Further, the extremely low reporting rate for sexual offenses hinders research in this field, as it grossly underestimates recidivism [27-29].
Sexism
You brought up an interesting question concerning interventions to change the values/beliefs of misogynistic men. First, as we saw above, there is more evidence that treatments targeting offenders affect (or at least appear to affect) their belief than their behaviors. I'd like to point out, however, that these beliefs are, by necessity, self-reported making unequivocal acceptance of them ... dubious.
Such concerns (e.g., "Is there really a belief change or are they simply parroting what they know is the correct answer?") are also a concern with interventions targeting misogynistic attitudes. That being said, we do have some research concerning this:
This 2023 review of 20 studies concerning interventions for rape myth acceptance [30] found evidence of reduced endorsement of rape myths following educational interventions, particularly those presented: with an empathy component, as a bystander intervention, or with an interactive component. However, this effect may not be persistent (i.e., may be seen immediately following the intervention but not at longer follow-up times, suggesting a role of social desirability bias as discussed above).
A 2018 study [31] found men express more intent to counteract sexism when the issue is presented as an issue for men in addition to women and when the source of information is male.
An interesting 2015 study [32] found men tasked with a "behavior intervention [where they] critiqued sexist ideologies" showed a decrease in sexist attitude at follow up. This is consistent with theories of cognitive dissonance, which suggest that people will adapt their beliefs to match their behaviors in order to avoid psychological stress [33]. Long-term persistence of belief change was not addressed.
A 2014 review [34] indicates research concerning interventions to reduce sexism is rare compared to interventions to reduce other prejudice. The research they review indicates some important findings including that men are perceived as more legitimate than women when confronting sexism and educational initiatives reduce endorsement of sexist beliefs (at least in the short term).
A 2011 study [35] found that encouraging men to keep a record of the sexism they see in their daily lives reduced their sexist beliefs only if "emotional empathy for the target of discrimination is encouraged". Long term persistence of this change was not evaluated.
Ultimately, this suggests that educational initiatives can reduce sexism in the short-term, with greater reductions for men when an interactive component was included and when empathy for the target is induced. However, research on the long-term persistence of these changes is rare and generally discouraging.
That being said, this does present an interesting target for violence interventions. A 2019 study [36] found that correcting men's overestimates of their local (male) peer group's approval of sexually violent behavior reduced their own endorsement of sexually violent behavior and lowered their "self-perceived likelihood of committing sexual assault" particularly for those with high past perpetration. That being said, they did not assess if their change was persistent over time.
Further, an additional 2024 meta-analysis notes that these interventions to prevent sexual violence all aim to "change attitudes, beliefs, and knowledge," and finds that while such interventions may succeed in changing ideas they do not change behavior [37].
Conclusion
There is limited evidence of the effectiveness of interventions for domestic violence, sexual violence, or sexist beliefs. What effects are found are generally small and transient. Unsurprisingly, interventions from other men appear to be more effective than from women.
I hope this answers your question Anon!

Yea, that’s clickbait, welcome to the real topic:
The difference between Buddie and Tevan, the lack of media literacy, human decency, and common sense within the fandom (I need a shorter title)
We’re gonna start with a topic and end with the same topic, but it’s necessary to say twice. Buddies or Bust (or BoBs as they will be referenced) are absolutely ridiculous. There’s no other way to say it, some of you really only care about a few specific opinions, you shoot down any other possibilities, and really don’t have that much normal human interaction outside of the (some harmful) posts you make online.
I’d also like to clarify, my problem doesn’t lie with all Buddie fans. Like the ship you like, I don’t really care. I have a problem with those who bash Tommy (and the Tevan fandom) just because he’s not Eddie.
Let’s start with the argument that Tommy is a bad person. The points that get brought up the most are that he was racist and an awful person to Howie and Hen while they worked together under Gerrard. I raise you the counterpoint that Tommy has apologised to Howie about this, and by the time we see more of their past together in the ‘Bobby Begins’ episode, it’s easy enough to assume they are friends at this point.
Oh, but Aeris, we didn’t see him actually apologise-
Again, we did. Just because we didn’t physically see and hear the words ‘I apologise’ come out of his mouth does not mean it didn’t happen. Part of interacting with media is, you know, not getting everything mansplained to you, so with a little bit of context, and the jumbled timeline, it’s not too hard to figure out that Hen, Howie, and Tommy were friends by the time the latter moved to Harbour. “Love Actually, monster trucks, craft beer” from Tommy and the rest was history for friendship. Or are we also forgetting that Howie called him way back when they needed water dropped on a house burning in a gas fire?
Tumblr media
Moving on. Season 8, episode 5.
This gets brought up a lot within the fandom, especially with the BoBs on why Eddie is better, or yada Tommy is too gay (Jesus) so we’re just making the entire episode its own section.
First off, the initial hospital scene. Scene set: Buck in the hospital bed, Eddie in chair with newspaper, Tommy walking in.
Point 1: ‘Tommy with the visitor badge vs Eddie’s ‘husband privilege’’
Easy answer: Tommy very clearly said ‘I came as soon as my shift ended’ ergo, he came as fast as he could. Eddie on the other hand, is on duty with Buck, they were brought in while on duty. I’ve never been in the hospital, but it’s not that hard to see the difference as to why Tommy had to get a visitor’s badge.
Point 2: Billy Boils Story
Yes, they both laughed, and let’s not lie, you absolutely would to. We all would. That was kind of the point of the line. If the argument you’re trying to make is “Well, Tommy laughed so obviously he doesn’t respect Buck” I raise you that Eddie was literally laughing too. So by your logic, Eddie also doesn’t respect Buck. “But he laughed in a husband way.” That… literally doesn’t make sense. Next question.
Moving onwards. The reaction to Buck waking up with boils. I think there’s a key difference here between Tommy and Eddie because Eddie can’t even look at Buck at the station later on in the episode. Tommy on the other hand… well the ‘Well, that’s not true’ line is enough explanation. Next point.
Another thing, less on 8x5 specifically but along the lines with that episode and 8x6. I don’t even want to say the word I’ve seen to describe it, but it boils down to Tommy’s ‘accent’. I sincerely hope that the people who use the word don’t actually say that to someone’s face because I think I’d lose the sliver of faith I have left for humanity. It’s ridiculous, it’s definitely offensive, people are somehow getting mad at the fact that Tommy is ‘acting gay’ when, spoiler alert, he is gay. *shocked pikachu face*. It’s not new information, it’s a fact of his character, and the fact that he is comfortable being himself around (checks note) ah yes, his boyfriend speaks volumes to his character and the relationship itself.
I’m moving towards the line between fanon and canon. Canonically, Buck and Tommy have a relationship. Canonically, Buck is bisexual, Tommy is gay, and Eddie is straight. Oh, but Aeris, Eddie said he was straight the same way Buck said he was an ally. Buck is on his first date with a man after he had the most life changing kiss in his own kitchen by that same man. He’s flustered and nervous and Buck very obviously rambles when that happens, which is why he also says he and Tommy are going to pick up hot chicks after their dinner.
Second counterpoint: Buck was literally kissed, he was on a date with a man he was into and hadn’t really processed what that meant yet.
Eddie on the other hand is not kissed, he’s not on a date, the context of the social situation is different. Eddie doesn’t flirt with the hot priest or show any interest or attraction to him. He sets a boundary when he thinks the hot priest is hitting on him.
Canonically speaking, Eddie needs one thing and it’s not a queer awakening, it’s some damn therapy. If I have to hear one more time that it’s the catholic guilt or the repressed gayness that makes him act the way he does with all of his past girlfriends- it’s ridiculous. Canonically, he’s an awful partner. Just look at the treatment of Marisol. Can’t even move in with her, emotionally cheats on her with the doppelganger of his dead wife. That last part is a ridiculous sentiment on its own and you want to put him in a relationship with Buck? Eddie’s a mess, needs long overdue therapy to get over Shannon, and you know, maybe stay away from relationships for a while, because they obviously aren’t going well.
Buck is finally at a place in his life where he’s had actual character development, and at this point, deserves a love interest who won’t screw him over in any way. If we actually think about it, the way Eddie would treat Buck in a relationship is no different than how he treats any of his other partners. Him being gay literally fixes nothing because the problem isn’t with repressed homosexuality, that just isn’t a thing with Eddie. Canonically, he isn’t repressed, he’s just a shit partner. (I mean, honestly, do BoBs even like Buck or are you guys just trying to prove a point? Because Buck would not fare well in a relationship with Eddie, and frankly, with some of the things I see, Buck basically gets reduced down to a glorified babysitter and not like a bloody boyfriend).
Okay, away from characters for the last bit. Let’s talk treatment.
Frankly, it’s unbelievable how many people actually don’t give a shit about what they post online. I’m sure you can find them literally anywhere, but some people are downright vile when it comes to anything about Tommy. The amount of death threats you can find against just Tevan fans is ridiculous. A friend shared with me a few screenshots of what they had found. I had no words. Then of course, the stuff against Tommy and Lou is also utterly offensive. This man got to come and play a character that was loved by a lot of people, and I’m not saying it’s on the BoBs if he never comes back… but I also wouldn’t be shocked just because of the backlash I’ve seen. Like even with just the New Year’s post on the 911 account- it’s awful guys. Like the comments are so mean for no reason. And then just in general on Twitter-
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Twitter is a hell scape and this proves it. Like there are real people behind these screens, and no one needs to read that they deserve to die
It’s a show, it really isn’t possibly that deep, at the end of the day, Buck, Tommy, and Eddie are all characters in a show we watch in our free time. Because, you know, there’s a life outside of fandom.
Anyways, TLDR, if you really think about it, Eddie wouldn’t be a good partner, BoBs need to get a grip on reality, maybe we should be a little less hateful online, and
live laugh love Tevan <3

The Board Game
word count; 909 – f!reader, part 2 of this
Tumblr media
You and Hirugami sat by the window with a sushi plate between you. Neither could decide what you wanted, leading to a shared menu with a side of shy smiles and warm cheeks. The topics of conversation ranged from politics to fun facts, and you never stopped unless it was to take another bite. Entirely consumed with each other, neither of you noticed when one of Hirugami’s best friends walked in the door.
"Sachirooooo!" Hoshiumi exclaimed loudly when he noticed his friend sitting by the window.
"Korai?" Hirugami jumped in his seat, turning his head so quickly that you wondered if it hurt his neck. "What are you doing here?" They did a short handshake before Hoshiumi turned to the other person sitting by the table with a mischievous look.
"I was getting a coffee before my next class. What are the two of you doing?" Hoshiumi’s voice went lighter, teasing him, his eyes seemingly asking a different question. He made a swirly gesture to the table and took notice of your shared food. Both you and Hirugami’s cheeks flushed darker red, glancing at each other.
"I'm y/n," you introduced yourself, ignoring the question, and lifted a hand for the shorter man to shake. He took it, winking playfully at you.
"Hoshiumi, nice to meet you." Hirugami always admired Hoshiumi’s confidence in talking to literally anyone, for better or for worse. "You're lucky, going on a date with such a handsome man," Hoshiumi said, putting his hands on Hirugami’s broad shoulders and shaking them while he kept eye contact with you.
"I know I am," you answered, feeding off the vibrant energy he brought with him. Hirugami’s heart beat faster, and he couldn't help but grin happily at your answer, which you noticed. His smile was one of your favourite things about him so far.
"Don't let me disturb you, lovebirds. I'll leave you alo-" Hoshiumi moved to the edge of the table again, but stopped talking when you were looking at each other instead of him, seemingly having a telepathic conversation of your own. He wondered if you would even notice if he just walked away. "Bye-bye."
"Bye, Korai."
"Nice to meet you, Hoshiumi."
"He's so weird," Hirugami chuckled awkwardly after a few seconds of silent smiles.
"He was nice. I can see why you're friends." You raised your chopsticks and picked up another bite of sushi, looking up at him before tucking the food between your lips. "So, where were we?"
"I believe I just told you how nice you look today," Hirugami answered with as much confidence as he could muster. He already felt something sweet for you but was unsure about whether you were just like that or if you felt something too.
"Sachirooo," you cooed and chuckled, completely charmed and not even noticing that you used his first name. "You look good as well; I like that shirt on you," you said back while nodding as if analysing him like an art piece. Hirugami checked all your boxes so far, and you couldn't wait to get to know him more. Your eyes strayed to the shelves of board games that stood along the opposite wall, lifting a curious eyebrow. "Wanna play a game?"
"A game?" You walked over there and picked up your favourite strategic game, Carcassonne. You turned the box to show him while walking back. "You have amazing taste in board games," he claimed, and anyone could see how smitten he was with you.
"You know this one?" Your eyes went wide with a look that reminded Hirugami of a little kid who was told she could get another cookie. "It's my favourite." Your voice was soft, and it warmed his ears.
"I hope you're ready to lose, sweetheart." It was the first time he referred to you by a nickname, and you could positively say you enjoyed it.
"Honey, you're the one who should be ready to fall off that high horse of yours," you countered. Hirugami could swear his heart melted at this point.
"It's on!" You two played for hours, always catching up to each other in points and looking into each other's eyes intensely, trying to read their strategy. Still, you couldn’t help but help each other too.
"Are you sure you want to put it there? I think there are better opportunities here."
"You're right. Thanks, Hirugami."
"No problem."
"I wouldn't do that. If you turn it around and place it in here, you get half the area covered in one move.
"I didn't even see that road. Thanks."
By the time you agreed to stop, the two of you had won equally as many rounds and it took everything not to settle it. But not settling it was a weird way of agreeing this was not the end. You cleaned up and walked out of the cafe, conversation still ongoing. "I had a lot of fun with you," Hirugami admitted when you had to go your separate ways.
"Me too, we should do it again sometime," you answered, standing up on the tip of your toes to peck his cheek, once again tinting it red. "You're my only worthy opponent."
"I'll text you, we can meet for a rematch?"
"Definitely." You looked contently at each other, lost in the other's eyes. Both were slowly walking backwards, not wanting to be the first to turn away until you had to.
"Bye, y/n."
"Bye, Hirugami."

What’s your favorite fic by theashemarie? I want to read her stuff, but I’m so intimidated by how much there is!! Where do I start?
OH ANON HOW I’VE BEEN DYING TO ANSWER THIS ONE!!!!
You’ve opened up THE can of worms my good fellow…
I am so sorry for the person i’m about to become
I’ve actually spent the last couple days making a simplified compilation of Ashe’s works, to make it easier for new readers to visualize them.
It’s the reason why it has taken me some time to answer this haha.
As for my favourite fic…. That’s such an insanely hard question to answer T_T
I’ll put the compilation & my thoughts under the cut to minimize dashboard noise.
(Disclaimer: i’m not a writer so some of the terms I use are from my loose understanding of literature!)
Warning for rambling ahead!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I tried to make the fomatting as straightforward as possible! If there are any other questions you can drop a comment :)
As for the fav fic stuff:
I don’t think I can have a hard singular favourite of Ashe’s fics, because they’re all different and encompass different themes and vibes and ideas, and fuck man they’re just so good. Ashe has a masters degree in writing and it SHOWS, but also just her writing style & way of developing stories.. it’s so captivating, rich and thoughtful. I love analyzing their work & being rewarded with the amount of detail and effort that is put into it.
Here’s a couple that fucked me up particularly good though, if you must know:
LDR AU | Meet Me on the Rink | And Take Off Your Mask | Simulacrum | Language Barrier
At least two of these majorly impacted my life & mean a whole lot to me because of the themes, topics and characterization in them.
I think one of my favourite things about Ashe’s works is how visceral and raw and real they feel while you read ‘em. There’s a real strong focus on the plot, which makes for a fantastic build up throughout the story. There’s also emphasis on characterization, and by the gods it’s deliciously crafted. The direct and indirect ways in which Ashe portrays the personalities, flaws and motivations of characters… MAN.
A lot of people read fics for a quick hit of fluff or angst, so plot-heavy, meaty fics with a lot of undertones and somewhat unconventional themes can be very different from typical expectations.
Still, I stand by the fact that it’s exactly because of this that Ashe’s work is so refreshing and fascinating to read through, and I strongly encourage everyone to give it a try, especially if you like Off the Hook.
She also has a lot of oneshots and shorter stories that I listed above, if longer ones feel daunting. They’re just as good!!
I’m really grateful that they share all of this work online; creating entails a lot of work, whether it be art, writing, cosplay, etc.
Posting it for free on top of that??? I think we need to appreciate our fic writers more, honestly. They’re a huge pillar in fandom spaces that often goes unnoticed.
That’s my little ramble on the topic, thank you for reading if you went this far!
I hope this helps Anon, and if you need more pointers or thoughts you can hit me up again.
With all that said, big shout out to @theashemarie , this is my big propaganda post for you all to follow her and/or check out their work, and leave her a comment if you enjoy the fics!! I know they appreciate them a lot :)
