Now I turn to the topic of partnership. Again, there are different expectations and needs when it comes to how men and women show their affection towards their partner.

A man expresses his feelings, especially at the beginning of a relationship. This is due to his hormone levels, which are different when he is in love. In the initial phase, he puts (a lot of) effort into impressing his chosen one. Depending on his personality type, he is also able to express his affection well and convincingly in words.

It���s important for a man to impress and increase his standing with a woman. His ‘strategy’ is to give her something expensive/valuable/prestigious (which is within his means). Since he prefers ‘big’ gifts, the (financial) expense for him is also considerable. Therefore, he expresses his love and affection (in the form of gifts), with in a certain time interval.

He thinks that if he gives her 1 rose, for example, he will get 1 point from her. If he gives her 30 roses, he will get 30 points, etc. Consequently, with 30 points, he would have to move up higher in her ranking than with just 1 point. In addition, 30 points would have to stay in her memory for longer.

A woman likes to express her love and affection regularly in words. As an emotional person, this is in line with her nature. She doesn’t usually place much value on expensive/valuable/prestigious gifts. She values shared activities and time together more. When she gives him a gift, she might invite him to her home and cook for him, for example. She also likes to get creative and make him a gift, paint a picture, make a photo collage, or something similar.

A little hint for men: A woman doesn’t value an expensive/valuable/prestigious gift more than something homemade that cost nothing. However, a woman does appreciate getting a small token of appreciation on a regular basis. It's the emotional value and continuous effort that matters to her. So, a little note saying ‘I miss you’ counts just as much as an expensive gift.

I would like to point out that these statements are very simplified. They are intended to help you understand the difference between men and women.

The Murderbot Diaries was like here's a person. The person doesn't feel like a person.

The person is starting to believe it's a person, and its pronouns are still it/its. It's uncomfortable with eye contact, it hates being touched, it doesn't like social interaction, it doesn't have great control of it's facial expressions. And the person's friends all know this and respect it, and it can show affection how and when it feels and it's ok if it isn't "normal." It isn't questioned or doubted in its care because of this.

The person processes emotions through media, and uses it to figure out what to do in social situations. It has complicated feelings about what it was meant to be and reconciling that with who it wants to be. It doesn't always feel like a person but it's starting to accept that it is one.

Also it has laser weapons in its arms.

many things about the chronicles of Narnia made me irrevocably insane at the small age of six years old but one of the big ones was the bit in prince Caspian where caspian blows susan's horn to try and summon help and it summons the pevensie kids like. that's crazy ok. that's insane. imagine at 12 years old you're given a horn thats purpose is basically summoning divine intervention & then years later someone blows it and summons YOU .
