Between the 1980s and the year 2000, it was possible to intercept pirate feeds of satellite signals: not just TV programming (which in the early days was often completely unencrypted, since why bother when so few people had satellite dishes?) but "wild feed" programming - the stream sent to local affiliates and relays. This created a thriving culture of satellite pirates, who would obtain "raw" feeds of sporting events and yet-to-air TV episodes (the latter helping create a nascent culture of fansites posting spoilers online before the episodes aired). Honestly, I don't fully understand the technology here, or why it ended, beyond a switch from analog to digital feeds and a change in encryption
But it was important for politics. An entire documentary, 1995's Spin, was made from pre-air footage of politicians intercepted via satellite. During Clinton's 1992 campaign, he was able to respond to Bush's ads the same day they debuted because - using this and other methods - his campaign would learn about what he was going to say before it was even released & have a response ready to go, or even beat them to the punch
Here is pre-feed satellite footage of Bill Clinton getting ready for a press conference; there were people in the 90s who recorded tons of footage like this

Me: No but sae-on giving heejoo the signal to impersonate the kidnapper when she’s lying bleeding somewhere off the cliff is actually very character of him you see because he’s a negotiator and spokesperson, that’s his strength. As a husband, he is constantly stumbling, needs advice, giving in to his emotions because that is unfamiliar territory for him but being the negotiator is something he knows like the back of his hand and can have a degree of control over. That’s the only way for him to get through to her in this situation where she needs him.
So this was as much as means for heejoo to communicate as it was for him to communicate. It’s not irony that the spokesperson and the interpreter suck at being able to understand each other. This was their strength and tool to bring them out of a hellish situation after all. We are the fools! They got us! It was right in our face…..
Receptionist: Ma’m I’m gonna have to call security…
NO WAIT HOLD ON THE WAY I WANTED TO POINT THIS OUT AFTER WATCHING THE EP BUT I JUST FELL ASLEEP INSTEAD
i love that - i didn’t think of it as saeon switching to what he knows best in this moment of panic and fear - the role of negotiator
he knows who ‘406’ is; he knows it’s heejoo and thinks she maybe almost knows he know’s it’s her, and yet in this moment where she’s in pain and fear and danger, he lets her take the lead. he sees her calling from the kidnapper’s phone and tho he slips up at the beginning because he’s desperate to find her, he quickly switches to calling her 406, and referring to heejoo in the third person
he keeps dropping hints of what the kidnapper should tell heejoo to do, that he packed a first aid kit for her (🥺) that he packed water for her (🥺) that he thinks heejoo should do these things and hopes the kidnapper relays his messages to her (all really quite silly but also continuing on with this ruse to make sure heejoo doesn’t freak out and hang up. he needs her to focus and stay on the line. he needs her to guide him to her no matter what even if it means he has to refer to her in the third person)
it’s like he switched to this mode to 1. make sure she stays on the line and doesn’t freak out knowing it’s easier for her to actually talk and speak when she’s hiding behind the role of ‘406’ 2. for his own sake — he can be cold and calculative and logical while slipping into his negotiator role, tho i doubt he managed to fully immerse himself into that role
(and maybe he realises how hard it would be for her to keep talking for her words to keep coming out of her mouth if she realises he 100% knows it’s her) (maybe she’d even choke and hang up and he loses her forever)
ANYWAY. YEAH. THANK U FOR THIS ♥️ IS IT FRIDAY YET
#this was so good (and funny!) thank you hahaha#ask#when the phone rings#i may have repeated myself but the thoughts are all over the place i apologise

played through the black mesa blue shift mod, up through the xen chapter since that's all they've released so far. the mod aims to remake the entirety of blue shift in the style of black mesa, and boy howdy does it deliver on that, for better and for worse.
they actually establish a couple supporting characters, more security guards and scientists, which is nice. in the original game it was basically just dr rosenberg, so more named characters is a good change imo. feels like you're actually rallying people together to fight your way out of black mesa.
a weird thing this mod does is take away player control sometimes. i can understand it for specific sequences, like when the elevator crashes at the beginning or when you first teleport into xen, but it also does it for some mundane things too, like inserting a keycard into a switch. why? half-life's whole thing is letting the player be in control the whole time.
the first few chapters are well paced, but it starts feeling like its padding a bit when you go off to find dr rosenberg. you have to do this whole song and dance moving a train back and forth and turning it around properly on turntables to bust him out. they could have cut out some of the tedium there a little.
my problems really start when it comes to the xen chapter. the original blue shift xen chapter lasts for roughly 30-40 minutes for a first time player, though someone like me was able to speed through it in under 15. with the black mesa mod, they have stretched out the runtime of this chapter to 3 hours.
it starts off pretty strong, you're making your way through xen, taking in the sights and finding all the stuff the previous science teams have left behind. about 90 minutes in i was wondering when i'm gonna get to the focal point relay thing, the whole reason calhoun goes to xen in the first place.
but instead you keep detouring through black mesa outposts and alien factory things and it just gets so long in the tooth. it'd be one thing if you get to one of these places and you're there for 5-10 minutes at most, but you typically spend over 20, sometimes even 30 minutes at these places.
there's one bit where you inexplicably decide to jump on the back of one of the giant flying manta rays and it flies around for like 15 minutes like an autoscroller section until it gets shot down by alien railguns, and then you spend 30 minutes making your way over to and destroying the railguns. and the whole time i'm just like... when are we getting to the focal point thing.
so finally you get to the focal point relay and turn it on but it gets jammed by a signal so you spend another 40 minutes blazing through ANOTHER alien factory so you can blow it up and you make your way back to the focal point thing and the portal's open but alien controllers keep telekinetically grabbing you and yanking you away from it... and it's just so exhausting. i got burned out.
not to mention the weirdness with how they handle vortigaunts. so in black mesa they do this whole thing in xen to show that the vorts are slaves and don't actually want to fight you, but calhoun never encounters any of that stuff. for the first 2/3rds of xen in this mod, vortigaunts are constantly trying to kill you non-stop. then all of a sudden they don't attack you anymore. why? because i, the player know they're not really bad? why would calhoun know that? it doesn't really make sense to me.
xen is cool. i like xen. if you told me "we're adding more xen to blue shift" i'd be like alright that's cool. but 6-8 times more? that's way too much. xen in blue shift was never meant to be a long trip. calhoun was supposed to get in, find the focal point relay, align it, and leave, not go on a grand alien gallivanting adventure. that's for gordon to do.

✋ do u think rose is green? 💚
rosie's ourple :) jade is green. you can imagine purple as red and blue switching rapidly or at will, while green is like a light being shone through a crystal then being split apart into other colors.
green is synonymous with power and potential in the way that the matriorb has potential for birthing life, ectoslime is a jumbled up mix biojuice that could make up anyone, a perfectly generic object could be configured into any object, and the green sun illuminates the entirety of the story. the story happens using the green person as fuel.
purple is moreso, just one guy/subject. like one of sollux's bees that flashes binary, they're purple. its about how one communicates and acts within a story though red and blue behaviors, if you're not blue atm, then you're red and vice versa. gamzee's text fluctuates between red lowercase visually indicated by his shadowed face and then uppercase honks with red robot colored/"blinded with rage" eyes.
rose has other colors assigned to her by her lunar sway, derse is home to the trolls' blue team, and derse itself is purple. derse sits at the edge of skaia's light reflecting the way that water/the ocean/the void laps at the feet of any purple character's homes.
jade's prospit/yellow/red team. yellow represents deviance to the binary, best shown through sollux and dirk bucking and kicking out their back legs if anyone tries to control their mind, but im guessing it can also represent a character not being allowed to "be blue"/take more active roles in the story. jade has a dreambot that walks FOR her, her dream self watches skaia like a signal receiver, but the only thing she can really do with that is relay information/ give people suggestions. bec is also green, but uses skaia's method of "passive relocation" so that her bullets aren't something she actively aims at a target for.
why i mentioned rose's classpect being oxymoronic to her lunar sway/blue team shit is
seers aren't supposed to be actively doing shit. home girl is STUUUUCK. she keeps mentally glitching out in game over because she DOESN'T KNOW WHAT SHE'S SUPPOSED TO DO. the game doesn't care if you're a multifaceted human being with more personality than being red, blue or whatever, you will play a hyper specific role, and then you will die trying.
#d talks#ask#hs.rose#hs.jade#d draws#also a character's accents is sometimes influenced by the red team blue team split#rose's godtier accents fall that way

ACTS OF VALOR
"Saber!"
"Cutlass!" Karateka shouted back. The three mechs in CORSAIR colors visibly relaxed.
"Where the hell is the rest of your platoon?" she demanded next, and the lead mech shook their head.
"We don't know. We got separated."
Karateka growled, half-frustrated, half-angry at the circumstances. Flak, radio jamming, and separated squads--this was shaping up to be a hellish deployment. "Fuck. Fine. You're with me until we find your CO. Grab your wounded and fall in behind me; I saw a gully we can set up an aid station in. We can get our bearings from there."
"Have you seen Karateka?" Tayu asked, arriving at one of the small tables in the shared mess hall . Sasha, sitting at a small table in the corner of the room (and handily winning a hand of cards against a man wearing CORSAIR colors), gave her a nod.
"She's asleep," Sasha answered, before explaining. "Took two doses of Kick during the fighting to keep herself awake, so she's racked up one hell of a sleep debt."
"I see. Shame. I wanted to give her the good news."
"Oh? Do tell."
"The Admiral's nominated her for the Olduvai Cross."
"Don't move, or you'll aggravate the wound. Just think happy thoughts, alright?" Karateka ordered the wounded infantryman, standing up and placing the roll of gauze back into her kit bag. "Let the biofoam do its work, and you'll be fine within a week or two."
As she stood, someone--upon inspection, a CORSAIR-flagged private--called her by the wrong rank and offered a salute. "Commander Karateka, ma'am?"
"Not a commander," she corrected. "What's the fire?"
"We've got that radio relay up and running, ma'am, but the jamming is preventing us from contacting anyone else."
"Just keep rebroadcasting that this is a neutral, Union-flagged aid station," she ordered. "The jamming isn't preventing all radio signals, just weakening them. Nearby units should be able to pick up the transmission."
"How do you know, ma'am?"
"How did you think I found your platoon?"
Sasha's eyes widened noticeably, and she turned to stare, jaw proverbially agape, at Tayu. "Really?"
Tayu nodded. "Really."
Sasha gave a low whistle. "Her aid station was that important?"
"She saved somewhere around three hundred lives."
Now, Sasha's mouth literally dropped open. "Christ-the-Buddha, I heard a hundred and assumed it was exaggerated! You're telling me they got actual reports of three hundred saves?"
Fire. Christ-the-Buddha, the fire.
"Sacred Symbol, take control!" Karateka shouted, clambering out of the pilot's seat and the top hatch. Flames licked at the ground; remnants of burning promethium, ancient TBK munitions. Karateka ignored them as Sacred Symbol fired yet another burst of Javelins as cover and she ran for the disabled Avenger. Jadwiga's mech slammed its shield down in front of her; flames washed around the solid metal bulwark as Karateka clambered onto the frame, removed a fast-acting cutting torch from her kit bag, and melted off the hinges and lock keeping the escape hatch open. From there, she tossed the scrap metal away and slipped down into the tight frame, surveying the pilot inside; conscious, but losing a lot of blood, and quickly.
The cutting torch slipped back into Karateka's kit bag, and she turned on a small flashlight mounted to her helmet before finding the ejection switch and popping open the front of the Avenger, cutting the pilot's harness away with her karambit before pulling them free and laying them out for treatment. The whole time, she ignored death flying around her, positioning her own body between the enemy and her charge. Foxglove appeared from cover and fired off a burst from her mech's assault rifle; Jadwiga took potshots from behind her shield as her Tortuga weathered the firestorm. Karateka ignored all of it as she packed the pilot's bullet wounds.
Tayu nodded. "She's something, our Lux."
"That she is," Sasha nodded back, before adding, "She's gonna claim she was just doing her job."
"Doesn't change the fact that she saved three hundred people," Tayu countered. "Maybe more. Just because it's her job doesn't make it any less impressive."
"Mm. Point taken."

Herding Cats
Day #23 - Up and Coming | Word Count: 1000 | Rating: M | CW: Talk of Previous Sex, Brief Teasing about Daddy Kink, Minor Appearance by Billy | POV: Steve | Pairing: Steddie, Platonic Stobin, Minor Others | Tags: Road Manager Steve Harrington, Having to Herd These Assholes, Like Cats, Famous Corroded Coffin, The Morning After a Show
1 Night, 4 Rooms The morning after. Is also standalone, but everything is is below.
Eddie | Goodie | Gareth | Jeff | Steve (Bonus morning after!)
Steve walks down the hotel hallway, knocking on each door of their block, giving them each a shave and a haircut, two bits so they know it's him, but that he doesn't need them to actually come to the door, just get up and at 'em if they aren't already.
There's a hotel security guard watching him work, which he's pretty sure they didn't request. For better or worse, they've got their own security now.
And speak of the devil, and the devil appears, walking towards him from the elevator is Billy, and Steve pulls the daily schedule from his binder, and hands it off as they pass each other. Not stopping, not saying a word. It's easier this way. They can work together, but decidedly apart.
In the private dining room, Steve does a loose headcount. Crew is all over, filling tables, and Eddie's sitting with Gareth and Di, his plate already piled high. Jeff's at the buffet now, but Goodie's nowhere to be seen.
Steve catches Billy's eye, taps his watch, holds up the number three, and rotates his hands in a well? motion.
Billy gives him the three back, then points upwards. Then switches his extended finger to his middle one, flipping Steve off. Fucker.
The baseball-style hand signals work well, but there are downsides, unfortunately. Steve's given them each a number: Eddie's one, Jeff's two, Goodie's three and Gareth's four.
And three's missing.
If Steve doesn't see him in ten minutes, he'll go do an in-person wake up call.
Still no Goodie.
Goddamnit.
Steve lets himself into room 1013, and Jesus Christ. It looks like a tornado hit it. The condom wrappers alone.
At least he was safe.
On the bed, Goodie is facedown, bare-assed. Scratches all up and down his back.
"Goods!" Steve yells, banging on the dresser with his fist.
Goodie jumps, startled awake.
"Morning, Casanova. Breakfast, ballroom seven," Steve says.
He's still not moving.
"Charles!" Steve yells, and Goodie growls in response. Steve'll pay for that later, but at least Goodie's responding.
"And put something on your back, it looks awful," Steve says, only staying long enough to make sure Goodie is moving.
It's like herding fucking cats. Feral, maybe a touch rabid, cats.
Back at breakfast, Eddie's clearly looking for him.
"Steve," Eddie says, and pats the empty chair next to him, "Come. Sit. Eat."
Steve looks at his watch. Yeah, he better do that if he's gonna before they go.
Standing at the buffet, Robin comes up and hip checks him, "Hey, dingus. You look tired," she says, and he feels tired. It's gonna be a long fucking summer, no matter how this all shakes out. "Let me pick up some of the slack. Put me to work."
He leans down and kisses her head. He just may have to, for his own sanity.
Goodie eventually blunders in, looking a little worse for wear.
"Hey, Daddy. Long, hard night?" Gareth says, and everyone that had been within earshot last night laughs, while everyone else is just confused. Steve hadn't actually heard any of this himself, he was long asleep by then, but Gareth made sure to relay all the dirty details to anyone that would listen.
Apparently whatever hellcat Goodie brought home last night had a daddy kink that they all loudly got to experience. They didn't even have to pay extra for the show.
Steve's shocked Eddie didn't call the hotel to complain about the noise. Goodie did that to them once, and he knows Eddie would love to repay the favor, just for fun.
Goodie reaches down and squeezes Gareth's neck from behind, but he's laughing. Steve's already seen the scratches on his back, and now he can see the marks all up and down his neck, so he must have really caught himself a wild one.
Good for him.
"They can call me anything they want, as long as they fuck like that," Goodie says, reaching over Gareth's head, pulling all the bacon off Gareth's plate. There are complaints, of course there are when it comes to Gareth and Goodie, but Jeff is walking by and just takes bacon from his plate and drops it on Gareth's.
Keeping the peace.
It's not like there isn't an unlimited supply. They paid for it, they can eat all they want before the bus leaves in, Steve checks his watch, forty-six minutes.
It's a day off, and they don't have far to go, but they still have a schedule to keep, and playing catch up is a pain in the ass. It's so much easier to stick to it, even if he has to strong-arm them to get them anywhere on time.
Steve stands by the steps of the bus, marking everyone off as they get on. The crew bus already situated, and long gone. But Goodie's been on and off their bus twice, as everyone else was settling in for an on-time departure. Steve looks up at Saul, the bus driver, "We're waiting on Goodie to get on again. And then we're ready."
Saul gives him the thumbs up.
Goodie comes walking back across the parking lot, six-pack of beer under his arm. Hair of the dog, Steve supposes.
"That it? We're good?" Steve asks, and Goodie nods behind his sunglasses, shuffling up the steps and crashing onto the open spot on the couch next to Jeff.
"Wild night, huh?" Jeff asks Goodie.
"I'm fucking sore. Everywhere," Goodie moans, and Steve chuckles as he does the final headcount.
He thinks they're all here, but he doesn't want to get fifty miles down the road and realize Gareth isn't anywhere to be found.
Not again.
Eddie's in his bunk, reading.
Billy's foot is dangling out of his, blocking the aisle.
Steve steps over it, and knocks on the back bedroom, getting responses from both Gareth and Diana. That's everyone. All here.
"Saul, it's all yours," Steve says, sliding into the jump seat, as the bus finally pulls away.
Next stop, Jacksonville.

Quantum Kinks: Debauchery in Deep Space
5…
Harry closed his eyes. His whole life had been leading to this moment.
4…
He took a deep breath to steady his blood pressure. Years of education, training, and sleepless nights were all coming to fruition.
3…
He briefly let his mind wander to what he might see out in that vast sea called space? New life forms? Super structures? Beings so advanced he would call them gods?
2…
He shook the thoughts away. He knew better. A scientist never formed a hypothesis on supposition.
1…
He opened his eyes. This was it.
Liftoff!
Harry felt his body rocket down to meet the seat, every millimeter of air between him and his chair evaporated in an instant as he was hurled into space. The launch was simultaneously fast and eternal. It took only a few minutes before he felt the weightlessness of space take him, but the anxiety of looking over dials and staying vigilant for any failing systems stretched the time into feeling like hours.
The radio in his helmet crackled to life. “Congratulations, Perky. You’re space side. All systems are stable. You have permission to sleep.” Harry obeyed and turned the appropriate knobs and dials to get his settings right for a nice long cryo-sleep. Before he flipped the switch to initiate the freezing process, he paused and began to meditate, clearing his mind. The science guys had told him to get as close to a full body shut down as possible before entering cryo-stasis. Any of his bodily processes would freeze in place, down to the electrify in his brain that was fired when thinking. They said it could have some unpleasant consequences.
Ready, with a blank mind, Harry flipped the final switch and prepared for a long snooze. As the intense chill flash froze his body, an image suddenly flashed into his mind: It was of a skinny girl, just on the cusp of womanhood she sat atop him, nude and giving him mischievous and lustful look. Her breasts were small and firm, and her belly was flat and toned. Then suddenly a new image: The same person, still nude but facing away from him. Her ass was full, round and heart shaped. Her back was still slender, but she suddenly turned around revealing a Gracie belly which she cradled protectively in her arms. Her breast had changed too, and were suddenly at least twice if not three times as large as they had just been. The images came so fast and in such great clarity, that Harry felt his heart rate increase involuntarily, and blood surged to his member before he could stop it. And that would be how Harry remained for the rest of his lonely journey in space: Stiff and unbending as ice.
. . .
Consciousness returned to Harry in a jolt. Sirens blared and the red lights of emergency signals flooded his pod. He took quick stock of himself to check for injury, checking in milliseconds for any bodily irregularities. No pain, no wounds it seemed, but his dick was still hard as diamonds. That could be ignored for now. He had to investigate the source of the emergency his ship was relaying.
Only, to Harry’s utter shock, when he depressurized his cryopod, it opened into the cool summer night air, instead of a ship like it should have. Harry’s cryopod was a few feet underground somehow, so he clamored to the top of the pod, and found it was half submerged in a crater. Judging by the debris around the area, it seemed his ship had crashed while he was asleep. Harry wanted to stew in the abject horror of that notion, but his training overrode his panic.
1. Immediate dangers
Harry whipped his head around in a full circle. No predators, or indigenous life. Trees surrounded his landing zone, at least those that had not been flattened by his landing. Temperature was temperate, he was not in danger of overheating or freezing. Clear weather. No tornados or storms. A few small fires littered the crash site, but none were near him and none were in danger of catching the surrounding brush. Perfect he had time to plan.
2. Gather data
He could only make and informed decision with how to proceed if he had enough data to go on. Just as he was about to retreat back to his pod to collect diagnostics on his crash, he caught movement in the corner of his eye. He froze and turned his head in that direction. And there at the tree line, he saw the girl from before his cryosleep, not exactly hiding, but not approaching him either

Phantom of the Night
Chapter 4
Sorry about missing the last couple updates! Work and everything has been absolutely crazy, and it's been hard for me to even edit. But I'm getting back on track and can't wait for these next few chapters to come out! Thank you for being so patient with me!
Tw: blood, gore, minor character death, guns
~Masterlist~ ~Prev~ ~Next~

Recap:
When the dust settled, she straightened herself back up, switching back to her M16.
“Thanks, L.T.” Phantom nodded to him, switching places with Soap at the opening instead.
“We clear?” Soap kept looking out of his scope, even after Phantom gave him a nod.
Ghost huffed, reloading his gun. “For now.”
“Ghost! They’re still moving out there!” Phantom shouted at them from her prone position near the rapidly emptying ammo crates near the plane opening.
“7-6, call for fire. I want close air on that treeline.” Ghost readied his gun next to Soap and Alpha 0-2. “Dig in, lads, we aren’t done yet.”
Phantom couldn’t hear what was being said over the radio, damning the earpiece that broke in the crash.
“Roger that. Air support is 3 minutes out!”
“Copy!” Phantom’s finger waited on the trigger for the right time.
“Smoke on the treeline.” Soap was frustrated, everyone could tell.
“No visual. Not gonna be a good time.” Phantom stood up and took her previous spot at the first window, Ghost to her left.
“Incoming! Take cover!” Ghost shielded his face with his arm as the AQ soldiers started using grenade launchers.
“Shit!”
Phantom turned for a second as she saw the injured soldier from the initial crash get hit and slumped over to the ground.
“He’s dead! Keep your gun in the fight!” Ghost shouted at Alpha 0-2, stopping him from moving his comrade much to his dismay and grief.
Phantom and Soap both turn and grab a few more frags from the crate and throw them simultaneously from the opening and into a small cluster of the enemies.
A few more minutes went by before it went silent once more.
“No movement. Soap, you clear?” Ghost turned towards Phantom and Soap.
“I'm good. Cap, you clear?”
Soap turned to Phantom, who was resting against the ammo crate for a breather.
She nodded sharply, ignoring the searing pain in her skull at the movement.
“Affirm.”
“7-2, need you up here now.” Ghost snapped through the radio, receiving a reply back that Phantom assumed was confirmation.
She could hear Ghost and soap start arguing slightly on what to do, but she tried to keep her focus back out to the treeline just in case.
“Ghost, we should fall back to the house.” Soap spoke loudly to him.
“Negative- We hold or we push forward. Hassan's still out there.
The four of them perked up at the sound of another aircraft. Phantom hoped this was a friendly; she wasn’t sure if they’d make it through that kind of artillery at this point.
“7-6, patch us through to air support.”
Phantom just now noticed that the soldier Ghost requested from his team finally made his arrival, listening as he made his way up to the radio in the cockpit.
“Rog. Stand by…”
Ghost listened over the radio as he got confirmation about positions before relaying the information back to Phantom.
“Fire is one mike out.”
She sighed in relief at the news. “Thank bloody fuck.”
“ Kilo 0-1, you're cleared hot on anything forward of our position. Danger close approved.” Ghost spoke back into his radio before pulling his gun back up.
“L.T. We’ve got incoming.”
Phantom looked up at Ghost, signaling him to look back out, but he didn't need to look far before the sound of enemy vehicles could be heard in the distance.
“Armored vehicles. Four of ‘em.”
Phantom looked up to Ghost, who towered over her crouched form, and waited for his call. Logically, she knew she held rank over him, but she didn’t want to get in the middle of that, knowing she was only here temporarily and wouldn't want to give him a reason to hate her without cause.
“Conserve your ammo. Let them get close.”
Phantom switched her M16 for her rifle, finding it easier to be more precise should the need arise for it. She held her breath as she steadied her gun, using the window ledge as an extra support as she tracked the vehicles movements, relaying the information to the others without being asked; it was solely out of habit.
“Standby to engage!” Ghost readied his own gun, the other two mirroring his movements. “Get ready… Cut ‘em down!”
Phantom took her shot at the tire of the closest vehicle, watching it swerve to the left and hit a log, but it didn’t stop the AQ from getting out and returning fire at the downed plane.
“Air support’s on station!” Bravo 7-2 yelled at them.
Phantom’s eyes widened in excitement as Kilo 0-1’s helicopter came into view and opened fire on the AQ soldiers who were rapidly closing in on them.
“Fuckin’ A’!” Phantom laughed as she lowered her gun, watching the vehicles become weapons against their own drivers.
“We clear?” Soap called out through his radio but also out loud.
Alpha 0-2 and Phantom both called out agreements of it hopefully being over.
“All clear!” Ghost called out.
Phantom slumped against the wall, exhaustion settling in over the draining adrenaline. She knew she would need to get up quickly, so she didn’t relax too much before standing up completely. She went back over the ammo crate, opening the backpack behind it to grab a few unbroken adrenaline shots to add them to her backpack. Before she turned back to the others, she gave herself one of the adrenaline shots in her thigh, not even batting an eye at the stinging sensation.
Ghost’s voice broke her out of her concentration.
“7-6, task a bird for casualty evac.”
Everyone could feel the solemn energy around the team, but there wasn’t anything to be done about it until they finished their objective.
Bravo 7-6 called back a short, “Rog'.”

ET-2 (1980) by Lour Control, Schaumberge, Illinois. "The ET-2 (Experimental Transmobile with 2 drive motors) consists of a three level frame powered by two separately driven wheels and balanced by a free caster. The lower level contains the drive motors and gearbox, a 32 amp-hour 12V motocycle battery, and two driver electronics boards. The upper levels are available for the installation of user equipment. … The ET-2 may be operated under computer control using only four TTL command lines. Each motor has two control bits, one to turn it on and another to set its direction (by a reversing relay). The driver boards provide the amplification necessary to convert from TTL logic levels to the 12 volt power for the motors and relays. Control of motor speed is obtained by varying the duty cycle (the percentage of time the bit is on) of a low frequency (10-20Hz) square wave signal applied to the motor's drive bit. … ET 2 provides a number of contact sensor switches that can easily be interfaced to the SUPERKIM. These contact sensors, equipped with metal "feelers," can be mounted around the base of the ET-2 to sense contact with an obstacle by means of a switch closure." – SUPERKIM Meets ET-2, Robotics Age, Fall 1980 & May/June 1981.
