Finally, a fellow Ketheric hater! Ketheric Thorm meta when 👀
I love Ketheric Thorm as a villain, but the fans (and even the game sometimes) tend to overlook how evil he was -- probably because Gortash and Orin have more pizazz with their evil so people like to make art, fics, and metas about them. I mentioned this in my previous post, but I hate how you have a whole dialogue branch to try and appeal to Ketheric's goodness (to skip the first phase of his boss fight), but you don't have a single option to curse him out or call him sick like you can do with Gort and Orin.
Ketheric isn't some misguided man who simply overreacted to losing his wife and daughter. He persecuted a town, abusing his authority as their guardian and founder, to hunt down Selunites -- a religion he himself help spread and embed in these people's lives. He thought that since he abandoned his old faith for personal reasons, everyone should uproot their whole belief system as well and anyone who didn't should be killed.
He was a zealot who waged a holy war on nonbelievers ONLY TO BECOME A NONBELIEVER HIMSELF IN THE END. And because he abandoned his faith AGAIN, he damned the whole town with him. Shar sent down the Shadow Curse because Ketheric betrayed her by misusing the Nightsong for his own purposes.
And when you finally meet him as the BG3 MC, he's like...oh, boohoo, the gods don't care about us -- they abuse and use us. Bitch, like you used and abused the people of a town you were supposed to guide and protect, fucking killing them for a religion YOU yourself preached and letting your nepo-hires kill dogs and children for a war you started because you can't get over your own personal loss??? If I was a Reithwin resident, I'd be like: the nerve of this guy!
Ketheric is the textbook definition of an oathbreaker who stands for absolutely nothing and has no convictions whatsoever. You think he has a moral code because of the trappings of his faith and vocation, but he is an opportunist who will destroy the very people he claims to love if he thinks it will make HIM hurt less. At least Gortash believes in (his twisted definition of) progress and perfection, and Orin believes in destruction and murder. But Ketheric, the chosen of the God of Death, only cares about death in so much that he can use it to assuage that soul wound he keeps picking at.

Friendly reminder that Wix.com is an Israeli-based company (& some website builders to look into instead)
I know the BDS movement is not targeting Wix.com specifically (see here for the companies they're currently boycotting) but since Wix originated in Israel as early as 2006, it would be best to drop them as soon as you can.
And while you're at it, you should leave DeviantArt too, since that company is owned by Wix. I deleted my DA account about a year ago not just because of their generative AI debacle but also because of their affiliation with their parent company. And just last month, DA has since shown their SUPPORT for Israel in the middle of Israel actively genociding the Palestinian people 😬
Anyway, I used to use Wix and I stopped using it around the same time that I left DA, but I never closed my Wix account until now. What WAS nice about Wix was how easy it was to build a site with nothing but a drag-and-drop system without any need to code.
So if you're using Wix for your portfolio, your school projects, or for anything else, then where can you go?
Here are some recommendations that you can look into for website builders that you can start for FREE and are NOT tied to a big, corporate entity (below the cut) 👇👇
Carrd.co
Tumblr media
This is what I used to build my link hub and my portfolio, so I have the most experience with this platform.
It's highly customizable with a drag-and-drop arrangement system, but it's not as open-ended as Wix. Still though, it's easy to grasp & set up without requiring any coding knowledge. The most "coding" you may ever have to deal with is markdown formatting (carrd provides an on-screen cheatsheet whenever you're editing text!) and section breaks (which is used to define headers, footers, individual pages, sections of a page, etc.) which are EXTREMELY useful.
There's limits to using this site builder for free (max of 2 websites & a max of 100 elements per site), but even then you can get a lot of mileage out of carrd.
mmm.page
Tumblr media
This is a VERY funny & charming website builder. The drag-and-drop system is just as open-ended as Wix, but it encourages you to get messy. Hell, you can make it just as messy as the early internet days, except the way you can arrange elements & images allows for more room for creativity.
Straw.page
Tumblr media
This is an extremely simple website builder that you can start from scratch, except it's made to be accessible from your phone. As such, the controls are limited and intentionally simple, but I can see this being a decent website builder to start with if all you have is your phone. The other options above are also accessible from your phone, but this one is by far one of the the simplest website builders available.
Hotglue.me
Tumblr media
This is also a very simple & rudimentary website builder that allows you to make a webpage from scratch, except it's not as easy to use on a mobile phone.
At a glance, its features are not as robust or easy to pick up like the previous options, but you can still create objects with a simple double click and drag them around, add text, and insert images or embeds.
Mind you, this launched in the 2010s and has likely stayed that way ever since, which means that it may not have support for mobile phone displays, so whether or not you wanna try your hand at building something on there is completely up to you!
Sadgrl's Layout Editor
Tumblr media
sadgrl.online is where I gathered most of these no-code site builders! I highly recommend looking through the webmaster links for more website-building info.
This simple site builder is for use on Neocities, which is a website hosting service that you can start using for free. This is the closest thing to building a site that resembles the early internet days, but the sites you can make are also responsive to mobile devices! This can be a good place to start if this kind of thing is your jam and you have little to no coding experience.
Although I will say, even if it sounds daunting at first, learning how to code in HTML and CSS is one of the most liberating experiences that anyone can have, even if you don't come from a website scripting background. It's like cooking a meal for yourself. So if you want to take that route, then I encourage to you at least try it!
Most of these website builders I reviewed were largely done at a glance, so I'm certainly missing out on how deep they can go.
Oh, and of course as always, Free Palestine 🇵🇸

Hi!! I wanted to say that I loved reading about your journey of creating a personal website. I'm still unsure between Vercel and Netlify. I have a small question to ask. See, one of the reasons I want to make a website is to archive drawings and journal/sketchbook. Would you have any tips for creating an area on my website just for the diary/journal, which has tags, files for each entry, etc.?
Bello!
Tumblr media
Really happy to hear about your interest in websites! I want everyone to make their own site so I don't have to log into social media and get instant tummyaches ♥
Vercel vs Netlify: I think I settled on Vercel for absolutely no reason whatsoever. I just made a site on Netlify, then tested on Vercel, and now I have like 5 websites on Vercel so I just kept using it LOL. I'm sure a more tech-savvy person would know the difference - I think they have certain integrations with specific programs.
Creating a diary or journal with tags:
There's a couple of different ways you can do that, with different levels of work needed.
you got me yapping again:
This sadgrl tutorial might be outdated and may or may not work, but explains the process better than I can.
Easiest: make a journal on Dreamwidth, or another blogging site (wordpress??) that allows easy tags and RSS feed, and embed that RSS feed onto your site.
This requires almost no HTML set-up, and the easiest to organize tags, but you don't truly have the data on your own site since it's just embedded.
When I snuck into a web design class at college, this was one of the methods that the professor used for a blog within a portfolio site LOL.
Shit like wordpress is what a LOT of ~professional~ sites do for their blog section. They code it separately from the main site haha. It's the most popular thing, but not necessarily the best. And wait til you read on what the CEO of wordpress has been having meltdowns about... he owns tumblr too!
It's made with a tutorial for Neocities if that's what you use.
Medium: Set up zonelets.
It will require some HTML and JS editing, but will help automate making headers/footers for each page of a blog.
I've never used it myself, but I see other people speak highly of it.
HARD FOR ME CUZ I'M A GORILLA: I believe a lot of professional web devs will slap your face with their coding cock until you use a static site generator (SSG) to make your site.
You will need some coding knowledge to set up the tagging system since it doesn't come with it enabled by default. But it's made explicitly to be an alternative to big Static Site Generators which are...
It requires some more intimidating knowledge, because it's a lot of scripts that turn files that are not HTML/CSS/JS into plain HTML.
Also you have to use the command line, and that doesn't come with buttons that tell you what you can do. You have to copy/paste all that shit or memorize the code to 'dev build astro' and it all looks silly.
I've used Eleventy, and now am using Astro. Other people use Hugo or Jekyll or some other stuff with crazy names like Glup Shitto. I hate all these sites cuz none of the words mean anything to me. This is a common theme for me and tech. I don't know what NODES or CONTENT or ISLANDS are!!!
I had the most success attempting to learn how to use a SSG by downloading a template and altering it with github + VScodium. Here's the template page for Astro. You click on a theme you like, and it takes you to its github page. (If you don't want to use evil Microsoft stuff sorry. Skip this entire section.) Follow the instructions on the page for "forking" the glup shitto. When it tells you to run commands, I run those commands through the terminal window in VScodium. These tutorials never tell you what these commands do cuz they assume you already know. Usually those commands automatically install the files you need onto your computer, and create the final files.
You can see my wip here for a "tag system" that SHOULD show members of a web listing haha but I don't know what I'm doing and I have a reading disorder AND don't know cumputer good.
THEORETICALLY this will be the simplest and easiest way to maintain tags and files, because after you set it up you just have to write the "content" of the blog page. And you don't have to set up the header/footer ever again. I see the vision, and potential, but I am not there yet when it takes me 5 hours a day to figure out what any of the words in the documentation mean and I don't want to ask an actual tech person cuz they will be like 'obviously just press the Blip on the Repository and then Suck My Ass in the command line".
(side note I haven't updated fujofans in like a year cuz I'm struggling with this part to make updating easier).
Con: the final HTML/CSS code is really ugly if it's "minified", and a lot of themes use """"""professional"""""" CSS libraries like Bootstrap and Tailwind that I honestly think are ugly cuz that's what every fuckin' tech website uses to style their pages and make them look Professional and Minimalist with stupid code like style="500-w dark-gray-balls D-cup-bra" on every single element. Even Toyhouse uses Bootstrap. Eugh!
But maybe you're smarter than me and can wrangle these things better!
That was really long. Woops. I hope you can slug through this wall of text and find something helpful. Feel free to email me if you have any more specific questions. I may or may not be helpful.
If someone else sees this and has better suggestions for making BLOGS, please chime in. I'm begging you.

It really is amazing how many scenes they've shown in these videos! All that's left is for them to show us the whole movie at this point 🤣 Also, for those who didn't see my previous post, I got copies of the CODE: White novelizations and have been reading through them. I plan to share a summary of the whole movie once I'm done!

AroAce Crossover w/ Fantasy High
For @cr-aspec-fest
Time for the final Week 4 (free week)! With the suggestion of wacky crossovers on the table, I decided to combine my favorite aroace cleric from c2 with my favorite aroace-coded rogue from Dimension 20's Fantasy High series. I just thought a conversation between Caduceus and Riz could be very sweet and/or absolutely hilarious. Since I'm just writing this on the fly, we'll see which direction it goes as it goes. Either way, this has been such a fun event, and I'm glad I got to participate each week!
Caduceus sets a steaming mug of tea down in front of the small teenage goblin boy in odd-looking clothing who sits at the Clay's otherwise quiet kitchen table. He sets his own cup of tea down before taking his usual seat catty-cornered (or caddy-cornered, in his case) to the goblin.
The goblin--who had eventually introduced himself as Riz once the initial panic and paranoia of suddenly finding himself in a different universe wore off--eyes the cup with obvious distrust. "What's in this exactly?"
"The Exeners," Caduceus replies in his usual low, mellow tone. "They help with soothing nerves, which I'm sure you have noticed in yourself what with this strange situation. I'm afraid I can't remember what you called it."
"A Time Quangle," Riz sighs with the weight of familiarity. "But wait, back up a second. You said this was the Exeners? Is that some sort of code for alcohol or...?"
Caduceus smiles. "No, I'm not fond of the stuff, and I've learned by now not to give it to teenagers. I much prefer the tea that the Wildmother provides for us here in the Grove, which is what is in both of our cups."
Riz leans over his cup and gives a tentative sniff of the aromatic steam rising from it. "You don't happen to have any coffee, do you? Depending on how long it's gonna take to solve this Quangle, I'm probably gonna need something to boost the ole noggin, especially if I need to overcome my less than stellar sleep last night."
"If you need to rest, some of my friends are staying here for a few days. One of them is a wizard who can create a tower with guest rooms, and he's more than used to catering his rooms for individuals of different sizes, if that is a concern at all. His best friend actually spent much of their time together as a goblin."
Riz tilts his head inquisitively. "And this friend is not... a goblin... anymore? How does that work?"
"I'm unsure of the exact magic, but I remember they broke a bathtub and needed quite a bit of clay." Caduceus' smile becomes even dreamier than usual at the memory of that fateful day.
"Interesting.... Well, I appreciate the offer, but I really need to just solve this Quangle and get back home. No time to rest, especially if I'm the only one who got Quangled into this world." Riz's ear perk up underneath his flat cap. "You said your friend is a wizard? His name wouldn't happen to be Aguefort, would it?"
Caduceus hums in thought. "The name doesn't sound familiar, though I know my friend takes on many aliases to serve his purposes."
"Old man?" Riz prompts. "Loves chronomancy and phoenixes?"
"Chronomancy, yes. Phoenixes, I'm unsure. I wouldn't call him old by any means, but I've been told I have a strange perception of time and aging before. As far as I know, he is of this universe, if that rules out anything."
Riz shakes his head. "Principal Aguefort can embed himself in any universe, it seems, and make it look completely natural. I'll probably only really know for sure if your friend is him or not once I see him."
Caduceus nods. "I can ask him to come in from his gardening outside, but I will warn you that his partner and the rest of our mutual friends here will want to join in an investigation of you, as an unexpected guest from another world."
Riz's face twitches at the mention of Caleb's "partner"; fortunately, Caduceus is insightful enough to both note the reaction and not mention it right away. "Sure, the more heads to help solve this Quangle, the better. Even if your wizard friend isn't Principal Aguefort, I'm sure he's smart. That is, if he's anything like my wizard friend."
Caduceus gives another nod and stands from his seat to walk over to the window overlooking the garden. "Mister Caleb?"
A shock of red hair covered by a wide-brimmed sun hat pops up from behind a tall row of tomato vines twined around metal stands. "Ja?" Caleb calls back. "What is it, Herr Clay?"
"Would you mind taking a break and coming into the kitchen? There's been a bit of an odd situation that might require your particular attention." Caduceus pauses for a moment, considering. "And you might as well call a team meeting while you're at it."
Caleb nods. "I will go grab Essek. Yasha and Beauregard may be harder to procure. I believe they had retreated to the tower for a bit of, ah, alone time."
Caduceus takes his leave from the window, silently grateful that he does not have to be the one to interrupt the married couple's "alone time." Riz is watching him as he returns to the kitchen table. Both cups of tea remain untouched so far, a fact that he deems to remedy after retaking his seat. He closes his eyes and smiles at the unsurprising pleasantness of the tea.
Riz pokes at his own cup, looking at it like Veth might look at some new alchemical mixture with yet-unknown properties. "So," he starts with all the faux casualness of a socially awkward teenager, "it sounds like people around here are 'hookin' up.'"
Caduceus hums. "I believe I recognize that phrase from one of my other friend's jokes, and if I am understanding you correctly, then yes, there are some couples visiting here today. I don't pretend to understand the specifics of their activities together since it's not something I'm personally interested in investing my time and energy into, but I know enough to respect their privacy around it."
Riz nods, slightly abashed. "Right, right, privacy. I respect that." There's a prolonged pause, then a spark of genuine curiosity. "But you said that you're not... interested in that... stuff?"
Caduceus smiles, just a little bit smug from his guess about Riz holding true to the insight he had glimpsed. "I've never found myself inclined towards seeking it out, no, and I've apparently been oblivious to offers before."
There's another pause before Riz blurts out, "I lied about dating someone once, and now I have a mirror demon thing named Baron that calls themself my 'romance partner' and keeps trying to take me away to see his 'stark father' in this place called the Baronies."
As much information as that is to take in, Caduceus sees the heart of the matter immediately. "Why did you feel the need to lie?"
It's like Riz's mask of constant suspicion and wariness has cracked wide open; he even cups his small hands around his cup of tea. "Because everyone kept talking about dating and sex and stuff! And I did talk with my dad about the whole thing when I saw him in like, heaven, I think? And he said he'd accept me no matter what. But he still... he also talked about coming out of this teenage 'phase' or whatever and eventually finding my mom and falling in love and all that."
"And you want to be like him," Caduceus deduces.
"I mean, yeah! He's the coolest spy angel goblin guy ever. My whole family is full of badasses."
Caduceus' smile widens. "Well then, it sounds like your worries about a... I believe you called it a 'mirror demon thing.' It sounds like you, as a member of your family of badasses, have it handled. I have all the faith in you."
Riz tilts his head. "But you just met me."
"Unlike the specific intimacies that many of my friends share, faith is something that comes easily to me."
"I kinda wish you could talk to my cleric friend. I feel like she'd gain a lot of what she's been missing from you."
Caduceus nods. "As I'm sure I'd gain some insight from her in return."
Riz snorts quietly. "If by 'insight,' you mean a ribbon-dancing lesson and a possible existential crisis, you'd be right." He finally takes a sip from his mug and makes a noise of pleased surprise that's so common from those sampling the Grove's tea for the first time. "This is pretty good. I'm not much of a tea guy myself, but if the day ever came where I didn't have to stay up until at least midnight trying to crack another case, I'd definitely drink more of this stuff."
"I'm sure the Exeners would appreciate the compliment."
Just then, the kitchen fills with the four members of the Mighty Nein who have decided to visit the Grove at this time. Caleb leads a disguised Essek, the couple standing intimately close even if there's no physical contact between them. Behind them, Beau and Yasha only appear slightly disheveled to Caduceus' perceptive eyes, but they're constantly nudging one another or seemingly finding any excuse to brush aside each other's hair.
Caleb and Essek take in the Grove's unexpected guest with silent wariness and matching analytical gazes. Beau, however, is never afraid to voice her thoughts to the world at large.
"Who the fuck is this guy?" she asks the room. "If Luc somehow managed to get himself killed and cursed by a hag, I think Veth would murder us all just as I got to start laughing my ass off at how much he's following the whole 'like mother, like son' thing."
"I do not think this is Luc," Essek says in a clipped tone.
"You're right," Beau agrees. "Luc would never be caught dead in whatever the fuck this outfit is."
Riz waves a hand in greeting, and Caleb is already shifting to start the somatics of a counterspell. "Hey, I'm right here," the goblin says in a voice that is decidedly not that of Luc Brenatto. "Name's Riz, and I'm in a bit of a Time Quangle. I get the feeling now that none of you know an Arthur Aguefort?"
Both Caleb and Essek's attitudes shift from suspicion to curiosity, and Caduceus stands up to go make all of them some more tea just as the other four members of the Nein launch into a light interrogation of the Grove's otherworldly guest. Most of the more technical words go in one fuzzy ear and out the other, which isn't unusual, but he does feel some satisfaction in holding an understanding of one element of Riz's situation that the others could not share in the same way. In fact, every so often, Riz glances over towards the cleric as if seeking reassurance, which Caduceus is all too happy to provide in the form of a warm smile and a still warmer refill of tea.
Wildmother willing, the collective minds of the Mighty Nein's brightest will solve this "Quangle" thing, get Riz home to his universe, and ensure that all parties end up benefiting from this strange situation. Caduceus has all the faith that things will turn out alright for the little goblin, even beyond this particular visit to Exandria. After all, the cleric would know better than most about the path Riz is set to traverse as he continues to grow and love alongside his family and friends.

host your gif packs on google sites
Since I received a question from an anon about how I upload my gifs to the google site, you can find the answer here. This is my first tutorial, and english is not my native language, but I hope it will be understandable and sorry if I wrote something wrong in english. I hope it's understandable and good luck, feel free to write if you have any questions and I'll try to help.
First of all, I always create the gif pack page on tumblr, it's easier to see the code there, it's easier for me to change things, because there is more space. And there I can see if everything is okay. However, it is important that there is a few code that works here, but not on the google site. When I find everything in perfect, I copy the code of the gif page and paste it to the google site page.
So I always open the google site page (You must log in with your gmail account to be able to use it.) : https://sites.google.com
When you open it, it will be a blank page, but there will be that colored plus sign at the bottom right. You can create a new page with it. I already have several, I tried to organize things there.
Tumblr media
4. If you click on the plus sign, it brings up this, I don't usually change anything here. In the right-hand bar, there is "pages" (marked in green in the picture), you have to select it.
Tumblr media
5. If you have selected the pages menu, you will see a plus sign again in the lower right corner. Click on it and select "full page embed". (I circled it in red in the second picture)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
6. If you selected this, it will ask you to name the page. Enter the name you want. I usually include the name of the actor/actress + the name of the series and the episode in various formats. (Since I create the page both here and on the tumblr page, sometimes I copy the name given on the tumblr page.) When you press done, you will see what is in the second picture.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
7. If you move the mouse over the part marked in green, i.e. on the name of the created page, 3 small dots will appear on the far right. Click on it and select "hide from navigation". If this was the case, then the small sign will be crossed out in front of the page name in the right side bar and there will be no menu bar at the top of the displayed page. After that, all that's left is to paste the code of the gif page, i.e. the gifs. You have to click on the "Add Embed" , which is in the middle and can be clearly seen in the picture. And choose "Embed code" and copy the cod / gif link here. [second picture]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
8. I have marked on the picture where you can find after this, the edit button [in red], if you want to delete the page [in blue], or if you would like to preview it. [with purple color in the picture]
Tumblr media
9. If you find everything OK, then all that's left is to press the "publish" button in the upper right corner. The previous picture shows where you can find it. Then it will ask you to enter a name for your web adress. Name it whatever you want, think of it as the name of a main tumblr page where you can always create gif packs. This only needs to be entered once, unless you want several main pages, as I have several (as can be seen in the very first picture). Eg: I named the current one gifsbymel2024.
Tumblr media
10. I marked the paper clip / chain (?) icon in green on the picture, you have to click on it and then the link of the created page will pop up and you can share it with whoever you want.
Tumblr media
11. If you always want to upload a new gif pack to your page after that, all you have to do is open the Google site page, select your page from the already created "recent sites" section and then go to the "pages" tab on the right side and repeat the steps as before featured. Only the name of the "recent site" will be omitted if you add the gif packs to an existing one.

Hi Elizabeth! Huge fan of The Rec Center, genuinely a delightful thing to get in my inbox and I’m so grateful. One concern, sorry, I wasn’t sure how to go about leaving formatting feedback. With the change from Twitter posts to Bluesky posts being included in the email (which is very cool! I’m down with it!) viewing the email in dark mode on a iPhone just shows a black text box. If that’s just how the formatting works out, no worries, but wanted to mention in case it wasn’t a known issue 🤷‍♀️
Tumblr media
Hello! Thanks so much for your kind words about the newsletter. 🥰 Unfortunately this *is* a known issue—another dark-mode user and I went back and forth for a while and I had them screenshot how it looked one week (when I just popped the URL in directly and let it render) vs the next (when I used the full embed code). Neither were good lol, but not as bad as what you're screenshotting!
The only other thing I can think of is screenshotting the posts, but I worry that will diminish accessibility in a different way, since when I've tried that it's made them difficult to read within an email, period. So my next step is to look and see if this is a known issue at Bluesky itself—I'm sure they want their posts to render well in all kinds of emails and this feels like a failing on their end haha.
But also, why I'm publishing this instead of answering privately: if anyone else has any other suggestions, please let me know. We are 100% done with Twitter and short Tumblr posts would also come in via a screenshot method (and are often heavily tagged in a way that makes sense on Tumblr but renders them largely unusable in this context) so figuring out a way all readers can see Bluesky posts would be ideal.
lol ETA: I should have googled before I posted this. It looks like it's known and there's some movement on it, but as recently as yesterday someone was asking why it still wasn't live... (Though unclear to me if this will be responsive to a reader's settings or if the dark v light is something you specify at the start, the latter of which will not solve the problem....)

Small Rarebit basics to start your webcomic site
pt 2
Part 1
At this point you can edit either you index page or your style css file (located in your css folder) to continue customizing your site.
I’m going to start by editing the index to change the fonts displayed on it:
Tumblr media
Neocities editor is very good imo, its what I used for the site but if you know of other editors you can use them as well, you can even use the default notepad in your computer to edit both htm and css!
Once you click edit on your index you will see this:
Tumblr media
All the rarebit files have commentaries in them to guide you on what they do, isn’t that cool? In the neocities editor you can recognize them because they are colored in gray.
- Where to find a font
I use google fonts for this, just look a font and see if it’s available in there
Google fonts link
lets see, for this guide I will use,
Tumblr media
Pangolin, because I think they are cute
Tumblr media
Look
After you’ve chosen the font you want you click, get font, then get embed code
Tumblr media
You will get these two codes:
Tumblr media
Now lets go back to the index.html file that is being edited, you will paste the first code in the <head> area
Tumblr media
after being pasted:
Tumblr media
You can leave it like this, but you can also clean the code a bit, since we wont be needing the cherry cream soda font (unless you want to keep it) you can delete it.
You may notice the similarities in the code being pasted with the one that’s already there, thats the code that will be replaced, you can edit the commentary as well to reflect the font you used.
After cleanup:
Tumblr media
I don’t know why theres that cross there… but it works.
This is step one of changing the font on your index, now we have to move to the CSS file for the rest.
Inside the CSS folder you will find a style file, edit that
Tumblr media
Just like the HTML pages the CSS File has commentaries on how they work.
Tumblr media
This is the fonts area.
Right now the one I’m going to change is the header font, where the links for the other areas of the site are, the body font is the one that will display on the commentaries and the rest of the site, the current font is ok so I’m leaving it like that but if you want to change it for another you can do so.
Tumblr media
This is the code that I will use here and its going to replace the current #showcomic one, ends up like this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now it looks like this, your CSS file is where you can modify most of the appearance in your site, like the color of the background, font color, link color, etc, the style file has commentary about what each section does.
Speaking of background color, it can be done in here:
Tumblr media
To change colors you just have to look what their hexcodes are and replace the one that is already there.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Getting there
By the way, if you don’t like the underlining on the links in the header, you can remove that, to do so you have to add this line in the “a” section of the style.css file
Tumblr media
text-decoration: none;
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now your links are no longer underlined.
This is it for part two, in the next part we will see how to upload the comics to the site.

🖌️ Day 48 of Game Dev for 🫱Teleport Man🫲
Rotoscope Workflow PART 3 - FINDING THE WRIST
So here's a question, since my character's arms are 2D rotoscoped animations, how do I know where to position the cloud bracelet?
In Aseprite, if we zoom into one of the animations, you'll find this magenta pixel. It is placed manually for every frame on the wrist. This is what designates the "wrist" position.
There are other points of different colors for the finger tip, palm, base of arm, etc!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's not too tedious to do this. I just tap right arrow to go to the next frame and quickly click on the wrist. Being super precise isn't too important, so I can usually set all the points up in a couple minutes.
Now OF COURSE, you don't want to read this at runtime. Instead, I place these pixels on a separate layer and read them using a custom Aseprite script. This script generates the Rust code to embed the positional data for each frame.
I, then, read from this data to get the wrist position!
Tumblr media
It's just a matter of smoothly moving the bracelet to the current position of the wrist. That's why it moves around a lot and never perfectly centered when running really fast. 😅
But yeahhhh! There we go; hope you enjoyed!

How to insert images into ao3 in the notes?
Thanks for your ask! I know this can be incredibly frustrating, so here is my method:
Upload your image onto the Internet Archive: Since AO3 doesn't host images itself, you'll need to host it elsewhere, and ensure it's the kind of place that won't delete content or cause your link to break. That's why I use archive.org, because like AO3, it values preservation and runs off of donations (which you should totally contribute to if you can).
In your notes, paste this HTML code: <p><img src="[IMAGE LINK]" alt="[ALT TEXT]" width="1200" height="600" align="center" /></p>
Get the right image link: Alright, this is the part that I always get tripped up on and takes me forever to figure out. You cannot trust any embed text the Internet Archive gives you; it won't work! You also can't just use the link from the page for your item. What you have to do is right click on the item and open the image in a new tab, and then use that link. It should look something like this, as the percentages in there gives it away: https://archive.org/download/tli-part-iii-banner-for-ao3/TLI%20Part%20III%20Banner%20for%20AO3.png
Fill out the blanks in the HTML: So you take that image link and paste it to replace [IMAGE LINK], then you delete [ALT TEXT] and describe your image in words. This is important because it means screen readers can tell vision-impaired readers what the image is, and also if the image does not load for whatever reason, the alt text will be displayed instead. You may also need to adjust the width and height in the HTML as well, but I've heard that part generally doesn't matter so much.
Preview your story: Before you hit post, you'll want to ensure the embed is working correctly. That's why you should preview before you post. I will warn you that AO3 does like to add random spaces and such around HTML code after you exit from preview back to editing, so watch out for those and fix them before you hit post.
If your code works, SAVE IT! Copy and paste it somewhere it will always be in reach and easy to use later. Trust me: you don't want to have to figure out how to do this all over again.
I reckon the next time I post a fic that involves an embedded image, I should record a tutorial, since it'll give you something to follow along with visually. What does everyone think?

Silly question but… how do you manage to get the link to your masterlist in your bio? And also the ask box? I am new at this whole setting my tumblr up
hey girl, you can use HTML to embed links into your description. i would recommend doing this on an actual browser and not on mobile (not even sure if it's possible on mobile). it's kinda hacky since it doesn't technically support it (i.e, if you edit the description, the links might disappear and you have to do it again), but there's some basic instructions here. if you just google "link in tumblr description," you'll be able to see how people use more code to style it and things like that.
for the ask box, you can just go to your blog settings and make sure these things are set up correctly:

OKAY, IM REALLY GONNA POST ON TUMBLR NOW! AND THIS TIME IM NOT JOKING!
FOR WHY?! READ BELOW TO FIND OUT!!!!!!!!!!! (TL:DR AT THE END)
So here’s why, for a while, I’ve neglected my oh so poor tumblr for oh so long…
“No one uses it anymore” (not true, but an internal monologue)
I forget because I am constantly being attacked with blunt objects
Little attention (very low follower count compared to my twitter and little notes)
Among other things…
Tumblr media
pictured is how my life has been
But. I have grown as a person. And some of you know that I have been developing a website. If you didn’t, hi! Im developing a website (though I have been taking a hiatus during the summer)
As I’ve been working on it, I have been considering putting a blog there. But why put myself through the time, effort, and heartache to code my own blog and painstakingly update and format each post from scratch when I have a perfect blogging device right HERE? The little attention I get here actually becomes a perk because I HATE talking on my big accounts. (What if I’m annoying everyone!) so my plan is to use tumblr and embed said blog in there, so anyone who views my website can just read it there instead of going all the way to tumblr.
I try to talk on my twitter from time to time. But the character limit drives me batty. I understand people don’t want to make an entire account just to read posts from ONE guy. So I think putting a blog on my website would be nice. I hope to figure out how to embed it. I will probably make a separate blog just for this since I upload my art here, and I don’t want to code how to sift those out on my website version.
TLDR: i am making a website, and using tumblr to host the blog I’m putting on it hence I will be using Tumblr more. Which means more art for you!

✨Tag Game Wednesday ✨
hi @energievie and @jrooc
Name: gigi
What is the most listened to artist in your music app of choice this month? chappell roan yall already knew
What song do you know all the lyrics to? A lot of songs honestly, i use songs to memorize things bc anything set to music embeds itself so deep in my brain - but my go to dark horse karaoke song is
What song do you pretend to know all the lyrics to and sing along to even though you don't?
bc its so catchy but i do not speak german but boy do i think i can when this comes on
or anything from kate bush bc i love her but idk what the hell she’s saying
If you were to be crowned Queen/King/Royalty of listening to a band or artist, who would that be?
honestly this one is too tough, however if it was still 2016 the answer would unequivocally be lana del rey and i don’t want to hear a thing about it
What band/artist surprises you the most on your frequently listened to artists?
sometimes when i write or work i listen to hours and hours of lofi playlists so whenever a song from that sneaks on to my spotify stats im always very confused
Favourite line from a song (or one you have been thinking about lately?
I think these lyrics are very clever and poignant
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Guilty pleasure band or song?
college drop out/ graduation and grimes 😬 i don’t think i listen to any bad/cringe music but some artists are pretty shit people
Okay let's talk fandom music:
Fave band or song you've discovered from a Fan Fic?
years and years and years ago i listened to sufjan stevens for the first time bc of a destiel fic
Fave Fanfic Playlist?
I’ll be honest i can’t really think of one, but i have one for myself since all my fics are named after songs, its linked here but hopefully it will grow a little
Fave Gallavich song?
pink and white was insane work for the prison reunion scene but at last brought the wedding to another level of grace and i loved that pick
Do you listen to music recommended by the writer or an included playlist?
sometimes! i try really really hard to but it’s difficult to travel to a secondary internet location for a fic playlist
What song do you think is Gallavich coded?
*sigh*
What’s a bop you want to share with your mutuals today?
I listen to a lot of older gen hip hop on my ride home from work bc it helps me feel relaxed so i’ll leave you with that
i was also tagged for the 5 songs from your favorite playlists game, so ill drop those as well
and the last one is bam bam by sister nancy but tumblr has an audio limit
tagging @iansw0rld @lingy910y @creepkinginc @doshiart @mmmichyyy @mickeym4ndy @em-harlsnow @mickittotheman @mickeysgaymom @softmick @spookygingerr @atthedugouts @deathclassic @solitarycreaturesthey @hazeisblue @blue-disco-lights @metalheadmickey

it's fascinating to me how there can be huge difference of experience even within a generation. Like I'm a millennial and i was definitely a tech/nerd kid with pretty much unfettered access to the early internet (my dad was really into tech kind of early so maybe that makes me a little bit of an anomaly but my partner's parents definitely weren't tech people and he had a similar experience). So it was interesting to listen to this podcast about enya and have other millennials say things like "oh it was the 90s so we couldn't download music yet". and i'm sitting here like, "maybe for you, but i was sitting tidy on my absolute HOARD of midi files" (most of which were enya or clannad songs tbqh like i remember "lothlorien" and "bard dance" being absolute gets) . Like what else would you have as the background music in your geocities page?!? also sometimes i'd just sit around and listen to them, tinny sound quality be damned, i was a happy little dragon*. we were all so proud of ourselves when we figured out how to embed those midi players so you couldn't see them when you loaded into the page (which could be a little bit of a curse if you chose your bg music poorly so it got annoying on loop and it could not be actively stopped by the end user) . i'm sure part of it is privilege/access (my homelife kinda sucked but my parents did give me pretty free access to tech things so i was able to escape into fantasy worlds) and the ability to connect to the internet for sure- that podcast has an irish host so their experience is probably a little different from mine in the US but still. it's interesting to hear from i guess? more mainstream millennials who apparently weren't trying to get their grubby little hands on every bit of code to improve their dragons of pern/petz fanpage so they could be one of the "cool" kids...
as a further aside, sentimental garbage is generally pretty enjoyable and i rec it (the host has the most infectious laugh i've ever heard, i think i might like it partially just for her cackle) but i really disagree with the guest in the enya episode's that enya is only music to fall asleep to (i definitely spent many hours drawing to it). I also appreciate that enya just used her money to be elusive and buy a castle w/her cats , like wish more successful artists would do this instead of being public shitheads on social media/etc, like ideally they'd not be shitty humans and do good with their fame but the neutral quiet enya option is always open to you.
*tbh i think the early days of the internet were kind of formative to my habits, like i absolutely love assembling a library of cool things and the early internet was very much like that where you'd need to assemble a bunch of resources to piece together your cool geocities page (and later your own website that you'd hand coded in html. and there was a whole aspect to creating a library of knowledge you learned from other users like css/javascript to get a cool looking cursor or a cool fire effect. Which I realize seems cringe-y now but was the hotness at the time lol). the evolution of the geocities fan ring pages was livejournal and it was the same sort of things but with better music quality files, etc (tho there was a less of a drive towards displaying your individuality as a person with how your page looked since it was more like tumblr where a lot of the backend was done alread) . i'm still like this with fonts and brushes. def miss the sense of community those sites gave me tho (you get a bit here on tumblr still but it's def not the same intensity)
