*Breaks through window*
ALRIGHT so Sizeshifters right? We all know em we all love them! I mean who wouldn’t?!? They can be a giant or a tiny whenever you need them to be. BUT WAIT! What about the emotional ones? The ones whose shift based on their emotions? Yeah they’re classic too and we love them just as much. But what if there were other reasons that cause sizeshifters to shift?
Hear me out, a sizeshifter whose size fully depends on what they ate the other day. I don’t mean in the basic sense of if they ate a lot they big and if they ate a little they small, no no. I mean like some foods make them shrink and other foods make the grow. Like You just find them eating a whole bunch of nuts and they just go “nuts make me shrink and I’m trying to avoid going to work tomorrow cause I just don’t want to man” or they start chugging water cause “water it the only thing that balances my size to normal and if I’m not normal sized tomorrow I’m sooooo fucked” etc etc. They try to eat the things they have before cause they know how it effects them the next day, but everyday they are tempted to try that new restaurant but they really don’t want to roll the dice on their height the next day man.
Or what about a sizeshifter whose size is affected by weather? Sunny day? Oh nice normal height! Clouds start rolling in? Uh oh now they’re shrinking. Rain? They’re smaller! Thunderstorm?!? Whelp they’re hella small, and they’re hoping a tornado doesn’t form because that would be actually more terrifying than anything. Snow though? Oh look they get bigger? More snow?!? Even bigger! Full on blizzard?!? People start leaving their cold homes to hide in the now giant’s pockets cause they are way warmer and very spacious at this point. My dude probably has his heads in the clouds…literally!! People eventually just keep tabs on the shifter to see what the weather is like. Clouds forming ahead? Alright are they shrinking or growing cause then they’ll know if it’s rain or snow.
What about a sizeshifter whose size depends on the animal they last seen/interacted with. Yeah usually they’re human sized cause that’s the one they usually see but suddenly touching a dog? Boom now they the height of that dog. A spider decides to crawl onto their back? Boom! They got the same spider problem but now it’s way more serious. They go out to sea and get to touch a whale? Whelp looks like they’re swimming back to shore with a rope tethered to them just in case they bump into a smaller fish and they can’t fit on the boat at the moment.
We always go to emotion for sizeshifter who can’t control their ability and it’s a beautiful classic but just what if there were sizeshifter who had the same problem but just different reason? I think it’d be neat to have so many variations!

To clarify, the “Big Boss of Hell Agenda” is my attempt to encourage fans to make more content, both spicy and wholesome, involving making use of the fact that Lucifer is canonically a sizeshifter, and can even alter the sizes of others. It’s a shame it isn’t often tapped into, as there’s so much potential with it, from an itty bitty Luci that can get doted on, to a massive Luci that does the doting (or just finally got fed up with all the bullshit he’s put up with over the years, including cracks about his height though not solely for that).
A few examples of this happening in canon:

Gods
So I should be doing homework right now, but it’s fine. Also I have quite a few things to talk about this subject so my thoughts are going to kinda bounce all over the place-
So, Gods. I fully believe that if there’s a god, they should be a giant, or at the very least a size shifter. Don’t tell me that their presence is overwhelming, SHOW ME that they are overwhelming, and nothing can give that impression better then making them a giant.
Or, if we go the size shifting route, tiny gods isn’t a very common trope, even in the g/t community. Like the idea that this tiny being the size of my finger could incinerate me with a snap of their fingers is both terrifying and absolutely adorable to me.
Continuing on the tiny god route, I imagine that they would just stay that size and just sizeshift at any time. Like one second, they are chilling in the crook of a humans neck, then when said human gets threatened, they just become this massive hulking beast.
Also, just imagine the amount of different scenarios that could come from this-
-Curious god who knows next to nothing about humans and upon seeing one, immediately scoops them up and inspects them curiously
-Miniature mouthy god who used their human as a servant, threatening them if they don’t do whatever they ask of them properly
-Gentle gods who are aware of their imposing presence, so they speak softly to the human, trying to coerce them to trust said god
-A god that was cursed, so they lost most of their power, also making them small, leaving them in a vulnerable state in the hands of a human stranger
-Giants gods that fawn over humans like we do cute animals
All of it just makes me kick my feel in pure happiness. And there’s probably so many other scenarios I could come up with too involving this, but I’m too lazy to write it all out :p

For Day 2 of GtWAC:
Post a prompt/scenario you wish you saw more often.
~~~
[If you look at the blog name, you already know where this is going.]
Sizeshifters. Just in general. I feel like there’s not enough of them out there, and when they’re implemented, it’s usually just the basic formula. Why not play around with it a bit?
What about a sizeshifter that has trauma related to their powers? Not that shifting itself is what puts them off, but due to some sort of situation, their powers almost got themself or someone else hurt, and they don’t want that scenario repeating again.
What about sizeshifting that hurts? Like bones snapping and reforming as a person grows, or their body feeling like it’s melting when they shrink? How about tying this into emotion/stress-related shifting?
What about monstrous shifting? Not just growing bigger or shrinking smaller, but adopting certain characteristics, like fangs, or claws, or other animalistic traits?
What about shifter fighting? (Because LORD, there’s not enough action at times. Sure, fluff and tame stuff is nice, but also, KAIJU BATTLE!) But also, seeing this in regular G/T stuff would be cool too.
And lastly, what about forced size changes? Be it a shrink/growth ray, some sort of potion, etc., I think it’s a neat idea to play with.
I've been lurking in the G/t community for long enough, so I figure it's about time I introduce my OCs! They're the main characters of my current WIP called "Dwindle and Diminish".
Basic premise? Sizeshifter protagonist participates in a fantasy heist, with the catch that he's cursed to slowly shrink away into nothing so long as he has these powers. Now he's on a quest to find the cursed contract that gave him these strange abilities and destroy it, before he completely shrinks away into nothing altogether. In the meantime, he learns how to not only accept his situation but take advantage of it, utilizing every new shrunken size to its maximum potential in his quest to become a master thief.
Anyway, meet Emory Bloom (shifter) and Lucy Fox (normie), the two main protagonists of Dwindle!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Apologies for using a Picrew instead of drawing the characters myself 😔 I unfortunately lack any real art skills, so hopefully this will suffice instead!)
A few years ago, Lucy got into a car wreck that killed her entire family, leaving her as the sole survivor - unfortunately, that same accident also left her in a heavily vegetative state. Emory, one of her only living relatives, took charge as her primary caregiver, and has sacrificed his life and happiness to give her the best quality of life he can. But with little to no support system to help, Em consistently feels inadequate and wishes he could do more.
One day, Em is presented with the chance of a lifetime: accept a curse that will steal away about a foot in height, and in exchange receive the magical powers needed to restore Lucy's health to her pre-accident condition. This seems like a pretty sweet deal on paper, but it quickly becomes apparent that the contract is trying to steal a lot more than just twelve inches.
Determined to put a stop to his shrinking curse, Em and Lucy put together a team of thieves to help them steal the contract draining his soul before it's too late. All the while Emory finds new and inventive ways to take advantage of his dwindling state to help him become a better thief.
Basic personalities:
Emory (initially 6'3" but gradually shrinking) - responsible, mature, and very polite to strangers, but with a profoundly sharp wit and deadpan/sarcastic sense of humor around loved ones. He's very patient and empathetic, and strongly characterized by his intense loyalty to Lucy (as well as everyone he cares about). Has a problem with being self-sacrificial, associating his worth as a person with his ability to care for others. As a result, he can be a bit of a pushover at times. He used to have a passion for his aquarium hobby, but gave up a lot of his own personal interests in order to invest more of himself into Lucy's care. Now that her health is restored and she doesn't need a caregiver anymore, Em is slowly rediscovering all those passions again.
Lucy (5'4") - fierce and passionate, very artistic and creative and pours herself into everything she does. Can be loud and abrasive and impatient, but that's how you know she likes you. Because when she's genuinely mad, her rage is cold and silent and terrifying. Loves reading, writing, art, and cooking. Any kind of artistic pursuit is something she will gladly experiment with. However, she's also burdened by a strong weight of guilt. She blames herself for the car accident that killed her family, she blames herself for Em giving up his happiness to take care of her, and most of all she blames herself for Em taking on the curse to restore her health. She sees this as her fault, and therefore her responsibility to fix - no matter the cost.
For years, Em acted as Lucy's caregiver. But as Em becomes increasingly smaller, that dynamic switches - now, Lucy is the one responsible for taking care of Em instead of the other way around. And for Em, who considers his existence to be a burden and that he must always take care of others in order to prove his worth (and also has a boatload of trust issues)...well, you can imagine that he doesn't handle this change very well.
Anyway, I'd be happy to elaborate on the story and characters if anyone is curious! I understand things are a lot less interesting since I don't have any visuals to show you (curse my lack of art skills!), but hopefully this gave you all a good sense of their personalities and dynamic!
g/t under the cut
late night thoughts of sheila comforting sizeshifter!kyle after the first time he grows
she hates how scared he gets at first, it breaks her heart. whenever she even tries to approach him he backs up because he’s scared she’s gonna get hurt. he would rather die than lay a finger on his mother to harm her. he’s standing there mid panic, probably shaking hard as fuck. you can see him shaking as he steps away from her every time she reaches for him. it breaks her heart but she doesn’t stop trying. he’s accidentally stepping on stuff which only makes him panic more until he finally snaps and yells at her to leave him alone before he accidentally hurts her which she does not do.
that’s when the side effects kick in. i like thinking there are side effects of growth, like hunger and exhaustion because it’s just so draining. so his stomach ends up growling at the worst time possible. at normal size she hated hearing his stomach growling. she didn’t want her little (well-not so little anymore lmao) boy to be hungry like that. and at this size? where it can reverberate through the ground? it shatters her completely. and he sees this. and now he’s not only worried that he’s gonna hurt her by accident but he’s also scared he’s gonna lose control because of how hungry he is. so what does he do? he runs away.
sheila goes after him of course. it’s not too hard to find out where he’s going considering the path of destruction he accidentally left. but he’s a sports player. he’s fast. and he’s got stamina for days. and one step for him is like fifty for her. so he’s freaking the fuck out and goes to hide in the forest, but even that proves to be difficult because he’s so damn tall now. sheila finds him eventually, curled up from trying to hide. he doesn’t try to run away this time though and just allows himself to be comforted. even if one of his tears is the size of her entire hand at this point, it doesn’t matter to him. he just wanted his mom, even if he was sixteen.
idk. i just like first time growth. anyone have anything to add? put it in the notes :)
How are you typing if you're so big. Do you have a really big phone/keyboard
Nope!
My antennae pick up and can transmit radio waves, so I use those to type and do all the other modern device stuff without difficulty!
It sums up to be that I pretty much stare at the screen and make it do what I want!
Even though so far it only seems to have caused a small amount of creative encouragement, I’m glad that at the very least the “Big Boss of Hell Agenda” has been received pretty positively by a decent number of people. I know things relating to giant/tiny content has a very niche appeal, particularly since it’s one of those things where those unfamiliar usually either just think it strange or assume that because smut with it exists it only exists for kink purposes, and I respect it’s not for everyone. So knowing that even if it hasn’t spurred much on in the Hellaverse fandom it at least has been (heh) accepted with so far no negative responses is genuinely comforting. Thank you for being accommodating towards my attempt to stir ideas in this fandom involving this core element of myself. While I do hope this will eventually take off to encourage more sizeshifting Lucifer fan content to the point where it’s at least not a rarity, knowing there’s at least acceptance of it as a concept means a lot. Thank you all, genuinely🥹💖
Wrong Place😶👀💧
It's not that the idea was to stay that way, it's just that due to the size difference, there are times when romantic acts don't come off as picture-perfect. It's not that either of them is complaining, but it's not like they don't want to act more normal either.
g/t july day 25: overgrown
cw: vomiting, fear, death mention
[read on ao3]
[size shifter identity reveal... -_0]
Arlo wishes he had picked anything but camping. A road trip, a casino, a water park, anything with doctors. Or service, he'd settle for service. He rubs a hand over his friend's back, muttering platitudes even he isn't listening to. Kalind, propped up on one shaky elbow, leans over the side of the cot and retches painfully into a garbage bag already stinking of bile. He heaves a few more times until he collapses into coughs, his elbow giving out beneath him. Arlo is quick to catch him, pulling him until he is laying on his back again. He should have known that something like this would happen eventually, he's been nagging his friend to see a doctor about his declining health since Junior year. Arlo trembles with the need to do something, but Kalind will not let him leave. The screaming and the begging not to call for help stops him every time. It would take him an hour just to get to the car, and then he’d have to find service to call someone. How far would he have to go? To the closest town? Would Kalind even be here when he got back?
“Here, drink some water,” Arlo mutters, holding a plastic bottle to his friend's mouth. “You're alright.”
Kalind's flailing hand wraps around Arlo’s wrist, yanking him closer, spilling water down the hollow of Kalind's throat. He doesn't seem to notice, fixing Arlo with a look not bright with fever, but terror.
“You have to get out of here,” He rasps, the hand not clinging to Arlo's wrist scrabbling at the cot, his eyes frightening in their wildness. “Run, get-”
“What?” Arlo worries, trying to push his friend back down onto the cot. “Kalind, everything is okay, it's fine, I'm-.”
“No, please, God, God. Leave. Arlo, leave.” Kalind lets himself be pushed, but his eyes are still burning wildfires, his hands are still scrabbling at the cot, at Arlo, like he can't control them. Arlo leans over him, grabbing his face, bringing it close to his own.
“Everything is-”
Kalind screams like an explosion, and nothing makes sense. He knows movement, a creaking, shifting sound he's never heard before getting louder, the tent is filling with skin and body heat and rich colored fabric. Agonized groans are getting louder and deeper, whines of pain cutting through the chaos.  The cot collapses into useless metal shards, sending Arlo tumbling backward onto the floor of the tent, which is rapidly disappearing under a growing body. He stands to run, but by the time he does enormous limbs and curled spine block every side, he can't even try to cut his way out. He tries, he has to try, to slip by them, to free himself before he is crushed under an errant limb. He doesn't make it two steps before hands as large as his torso wrap around his ribs and pull him hard to a beating chest, pressing over him inescapably. It's all Arlo can do to go limp and wait for the shifting, creaking sound of expansion to cease. The pounding in the chest he's pressed to is rising in volume, deepening in base until it thunders through his whole body like a war drum. The heat of blood surrounds him, the growing hands large enough now to cup like a shell around him.
When Arlo feels about the size of a large mouse, the expansion slows, then stops. The chest’s shallow, unsteady breathing evens into labored, but steady breath. The heart slows.
Arlo lays, eyes open, staring at nothing. He cannot bring himself to move.
Is it over? What happened? Where is Kalind?
The body moves, a massive, echoing breath hitches. The heart speeds up again, until it's faster than before. A sound buzzes the wall of flesh, a cough, jarring his whole body, petering off into an agonized, whining cry, loud like a landslide, but Arlo can't move his arms to cover his ears. The hands, just one of them bigger than his whole body, close around him tighter, until there's room for him and nothing else, and then they start to shake.
Then, a whisper, loud and echoing above him.
“Arlo?”
It is unmistakably Kalind's voice, magnified. His tattered mind starts to pull itself together. Kalind is alive, and if Kalind is the growing thing then…
“Fuck, no…did I…are you… oh God-” The whispers continue, getting louder, the heart beating faster. “Please, please God, Arlo, be alive, don't-”
He is not in danger.
“I'm okay!” Arlo shouts, kicking out against the giving pressure around him. The hand opens around him, away from his writhing, giving him space to push himself to his elbows. “You didn't hurt me!”
“Oh thank God,” Kalind whispers, and the hands press him flat. The squishiness of his hands makes it pretty nice, more like a massive hug than anything scary, and Kalind starts to cry. Arlo lets himself be held to the shuddering chest, saying soothing words that probably can't be heard over the crying. Eventually, the hands open and a tearful face (of which he can see only a sliver of) looks him over. Arlo feels a bit like a caught pest, still a bit afraid to move and risk falling or being accidentally crushed.
“Oh my God, you're… so tiny.” Kalind's voice whispers, somewhere between terrified and awed. Arlo laughs, but he can't bring himself to do anything but stare up at his friend.
 “Pretty sure, uh… it's the other way around. You got huge.” There is long silence, free of even the frogs and cicadas that had been keeping up a steady white noise. The hands over him open to cup around him instead, keeping him safe from sliding off the massive chest he's on, but letting him see out into the dwindling day. The forest around them is the same size it was before, the trees around them crushed and knocked over, the birds all silent, animals all fled. Their tent is likely in tattered shreds somewhere under Kalind's body.
“... You're a sizeshifter.” Arlo says, looking at the massive face of his friend, pinched in pain. Tears well in his friend’s eyes again.
“I'm so sorry,” Kalind sobs, unable to wipe his eyes and keep his hands around Arlo at the same time. “I couldn't handle it… I couldn't hide it, and I almost- you could have-”
“Nothing happened to me.” Arlo says firmly, sitting up and putting a hand on Kalind’s thumb, now at least 3 feet tall. “I'm okay. But why …”
“I couldn't tell you, I couldn't tell anyone. I wanted to, Arlo, you were the only person I wanted to tell, but I- what if I- what if you- if I lost-” the chest under him trembles, a strangled, shaky breath escapes him. “Oh God. What am I gonna do? I can't go home. I- I have to run, no one can know. I can't live with everyone knowing.”
“Kalind, breathe. You didn't hurt anyone, you didn't do anything wrong. You didn't break any laws.”
“I'm breaking them right now,” Kalind rasps, flexing the fingers behind Arlo. “You could have… If someone saw me grab you like that I'd be fined at least.”
“Well if a tree falls in a forest, you know.” Arlo says, patting Kalind's thumb comfortingly. “So... Where are we gonna go until you shrink back down?”
“We- Arlo, no. You have to go back into town until I… figure this out.”
“So… leave you to survive alone in the woods until that happens?” Arlo asks, raising a skeptical eyebrow that Kalind is hopefully close enough to make out.
“Yes.” Kalind says firmly. Arlo crosses his arms, tilting his head, unmoved. “Oh, come on, what can hurt me now? I'm eight stories tall!”
“Oh let me think,” Arlo drawls sarcastically, putting a finger to his chin. “Starvation, dehydration, heat stroke, hypothermia, disease, infection, drowning-”
“Oh my God, stop. Stop. Arlo, you can't come with me. I won't risk your safety.”
“I’m coming with you.” Arlo repeats. His heart is racing nervously somewhere in his body but he isn't swayed. Kalind isn't going to hurt him, even if he is too big to see in entirety right now. “What are you gonna do, throw me back into town? It's illegal to grab me, right? ”
“... I'll walk away super fast and you won't catch me with your little legs.” Kalind tries, his narrowed eyes darting away.
“Then I guess I'm walking through the night until I catch up with you,” Arlo sighs with a shrug. “You can't be hard to track now. Hope I can outrun the coyotes…”
“Okay, stop.” Kalind sighs, shutting his huge, exasperated eyes. “You… Arlo you can't come with me.”
“And you can't stop me.”
Kalind's face twists into something complicated. His eyes shut, and the hands around him enclose him into darkness again. In the dark, the world moves, shifting fabric and skin, creaking trees, a few crashing down as gravity slowly changes direction. When the hands open again, he is much higher, looking out at the tops of trees, cupped in the dip of two folded hands.
“Oh Arlo… why do you have to be so…” Kalind's massive head dips, then raises its trembling expression back to Arlo. “You have to listen to everything I say. I can't stand the thought of… of something happening to you. Of it being my fault.”
It's hard to imagine the hands around him, massive as they are, turning on him.
“You've been hiding all this for a while, huh.” Arlo muses, putting a hand on the damp, ridged skin of Kalind's thumb. “I'll listen to you. I'll keep myself safe.” He runs his hand over the warm, hard bed of his nail, traces the white crescent there, and looks him in the eye.
“You aren't going to hurt me.”
With a wary, watery gaze, Kalind sighs, the hands holding him sinking a few feet lower.
“I’ll have to carry you, try not to move around too much, okay?”
Arlo nods, clinging a bit tighter to Kalind's thumb. He wonders if his friend can feel it. The hands close around him like a strange oyster shell, and with a gut-wrenching swoop, Arlo is lifted high into the air. Fingers almost as long as his body shift to let in a shaft of dwindling light, revealing a dark, shimmering eye peering into the hand.
“Are you comfortable?” The question rumbles through the hands, like a flock of birds taking off behind Arlo's ribs. He reaches out to touch the flesh around him and smiles at his friend.
“I am.”
