[Seph and Darius look at Penny who is silent]

S: You don’t like it…

P: Well, I don’t hate it. It’s just not giving what I wanted for the wedding. W

S: hat exactly is throwing it off for you? You wanted great views and expensive. This is literally where the Feng’s got married. You don’t even want to know how much I fought for us to even get a tour!

P: I know you worked hard for this Seph, and I appreciate. Darius and I both do, but… it’s just not sitting well with me. We can keep it in mind in case the other locations don’t work out.

S: Darius… any support here?

D: Seph, I like the place but if Penny isn’t sold then we can look elsewhere. If anyone gives you a hard time then call me. I don’t want you stressing more than you have to.

P: I can already tell you don’t like this for the ceremony but how about the reception?

D: You already know I love this place, boys love it too, so I’m sold on a reception being here.

S: Penny… thoughts?

P: Can I be honest or do you want me to be nice?

S: I would love to hear you say you love this and let me put a deposit down.

P: I can be… convinced to host the reception here. I’m just not sold on the idea of making us all travel.

S: They do receptions here all the time, they have it down to a science. If you’re worried about travel they said they can get everyone here in under an hour.

D: I might need to hire them for my next trip, under an hour in this city? That’s impressive.

P: It takes a lot to impress Darius.

S: Does that mean we like this for the reception?

P: You can put the deposit down.

S: Thank god, that’s one thing off my list.

S: Thanks for meeting with me before Penny gets here.

D: Of course, everything okay? If she says no to this location I might lose my shit, Darius.

D: [Sighs] I know. I’ve been trying to talk to her about her picky-ness. I think it’s the baby. You know she’s not like this normally and she loves you.

S: Oh I know. However, I need you to stop being such a push over Darius.

D: I am not a complete pushover. I just know this wedding means a lot to her and I want it to be perfect.

S: It’s your wedding too and honestly she listens more when you speak your mind.

D: I know, but I think this might be the one. F

P: Hey baby!

P: Oh my god, this is place is beautiful! They do weddings here?

S: They don’t actually but Darius promised to donate enough money to keep them in business for a decade so they compromised.

P: So no one has gotten married here before?

S: I think like over a 100 years ago was the last event they hosted. How about you guys explore inside while I find my contact?

D: Sounds good, see you soon.

D: What do you think, love?

[Penny stays silent just staring at Darius]

P: My sister made you meet her early didn’t she?

P: What did she say?

D: She’s just a bit frustrated with finding the ceremony venue. Asked me to put my big boy pants on.

P: I figured as much. I can’t blame her I’ve been a bridezilla.

D: You have, so maybe you should be a bit more… aware of your sister’s feelings too.

P: I’ll take her out for lunch this week and talk with her.

D: I’m sure she will enjoy spending time with you that doesn’t involve wedding planning. By the way, she said she will lose it if you hate this place.

P: Well, it’s a good thing I love it.

D: Me too and I think it was worth all the no’s. Zeph nearly screamed when I told him we were looking at the botanical.

P: If Zeph loves this place then I would have said yes earlier.

D: Please do not tell you sister that.

nothing so aggravating as seeing people claim what Hades did was just a misunderstanding because he ''loved Persephone too much''. like i don't know about you, but it's pretty hard for that to turn into building a town based on slavery and later getting a girl and assaulting her (even if it's just implied, he still at least had to pretend to do something like it, because his goal was to make Persephone mad).

i have come up with a ff7 role swap au! (Zack is hopelessly in love with fellow general Cloud (evil edition)! Sephiroth is a deserter! The whole shabang!) i do not want to make you read through 50000 pages of detail but here's the rundown: sephiroth deserts during the wutai war because reasons (they're a bit convoluted but mostly involve him learning that Jenova is not his real mother from a mis-addressed letter, and him not being near Jenova allowed him to keep his sanity) so Cloud grows up hearing how horrible Sephiroth is and instead of idolizing him grows to hate him. bcs Shinra lost the war w/o Seph, they're severely weakened, so when Cloud signs up and expresses his desire to replace Sephiroth, Hojo is like "sure, why not" but (because he's upset about Sephiroth and overzealous as a result) pumps Cloud full of WAY too much mako and Jenova cells and basically melts his brain with a case of mako poisoning expressed psychologically rather than physiologically. So Cloud can move, speak, etc, he isn't like he was in Mideel, but he's lost his mind. Zack has no reason to die, so him being the only other available (not dead or missing) 1st class means he and Cloud are automatically promoted to general (even though they're very young) and Shinra wants vengeance on Wutai, so they're sent off to fight it (and Avalanche when it pops up.) Zack, who's still a nice dude, realizes that Cloud's a little (a lot) messed up and wants to help/fix him. Shinra being the reasonable beings they are decide to burn Nibelheim to the ground after what they did to Cloud to cover it up, but Tifa escapes.

there's WAY more but that's the gist of the backstory

On one hand, I need to calm the fuck down about Sephiroth and stop giving into Twitter to debate lore. I KNOW I’m better than this lmao.

On the other hand, I see people genuinely angry about “how Crisis Core ruined Sephiroth by killing part of his agency through Genesis,” and “how having friends made him less cool,” and “how all the Compilation is humanizing him too much and taking away his mystery,” and “how he went evil for no reason,” and “how he was always an asshole that saw himself as superior to others and only broke down because he found out he wasn’t all that.”

I see unironic worship of “canon” traits he has that apparently mark him as a perverted alpha daddy dom sex god instead of the actual raging, delusional murderer with a loathing for all life he becomes for a reeeeeeeally key and important reason.

I see remarks like “I hate how First Soldier is ruining my favorite character and taking away more of his agency,” when said “favorite character” is Sephiroth’s most surface-level traits as a villain with no further depth and he has to be cool and perfect 100% of the time or else he isn’t Sephiroth anymore and he’s suddenly “badly written.”

That’s not the same character.

Yes, I know.

Why am I mad that one of the most beautifully designed and canonically objectified and powerfully portrayed and sensually voiced and thirstily fawned over characters in video game history is being reduced to singular traits???

I don’t know.

How can I demand the luxury of rage when faced with such odds.

Jack is protected by surrounding him by friends and family who are all looking out for him. connections keep him safe. whereas Seph is protected by separating him from any family, so that he remains anonymous and unconnected, where no one’s enemies can find him. Jack is kept in the dark, but he’s sheltered. when things get bad he has people on his side. Seph is kept in the dark, but he’s infinitely more vulnerable than Jack, because he has no one to turn to, and no way to tell who’s on his side.

Sephiroth stands before the metal doors of the Modeoheim laboratory. Angeal is in his arms, where he is safe. When Sephiroth had existed within the lifestream, all mako at his disposal, the need for materia was nonexistent. Now, though, no matter how much he way wish to, he does not have the ability to cast a curaga, to heal the wounds that Angeal had sustained. All the more reason, then, for Sephiroth to re-enter the cold building. Many there care for Angeal; they would tend to his injuries. If not, then Sephiroth himself would take the supplies and bandage Angeal himself. 

And yet, standing here, Sephiroth finds himself reluctant to move forwards. 

Mindlessly, Sephiroth brushes a hair out of Angeal’s face, only for the wind to push it back over. Sephiroth breaths slowly, carefully. 

He is cold. 

Sephiroth looks behind him. The snow of the blizzard makes it hard to see, and night has begun to set in, making the world only colder and darker. 

A life time ago, Sephiroth did not come here. He sent Zack Fair in his stead. Orders to kill his two friends, orders that Sephritoh knew he could not carry out. 

There is something wrong with him. 

The thought is barely allowed to exist in his own mind. Weakness is not something that can be tolerated. Shinra never allowed weakness (yet Lazard allowed Sephiroth to refuse the Modeoheim mission). With Mother, Sephiroth was above weakness. He was perfection in a way that none could understand. 

But there is something wrong with Sephiroth right now. 

Sephiroth places Angeal down right outside the metal doors. Again, he makes a futile effort to clear the hair from Angeal’s face. 

The last mission Sephiroth ever did on Shinra’s orders was the Nibelheim mission. He’d requested Zack to come with him; even then, befor ehe’d konwn his lineage, Sephiroth had known that he may not return to Shinra. What was there for him? He also knew that he would not be the one to leave someone behind. The two infantry who had come along had been unimportant. Infantry were fodder. They were disposable. 

The P0 SOLDIERs were considered disposable, too. 

Sephiroth raises his hand in a fist and brings it down on the metal door, pounding for someone to open it. He does not wait for it to be opened, however; he’s already turned around. 

Zack had pulled him off to the side after the bridge collapsed, after the raging river had carried one of the infantry away. 

“Hey, Seph,” Zack had said, “Are you feeling alright? We… We should at least look for the missing guy, right?” 

Zack’s words had meant little at the time. Sephiroth kept looking up the mountain, towards the Nibelheim Reactor. Never had a mission meant somuch to him. Yet, it was a mission he hadn’t even been sure he would finish carrying out. 

The words, the concern, now echo in Sephiroth’s head, combined with Angeal’s pleas earlier. 

There is something wrong with Sephiroth. 

And he’s not sure how long it’s been wrong.

Quick thought abt Lucrecia's photo: assuming that jenova doesn't actually physically change forms and that it works more like psychic powers by looking through a specific person's mind and psychologically altering what she looks like using that person's memory as a mold, when sephiroth saw jenova, he could have just seen lucrecia. He could have just seen his mother.

what “holiday” cafe drinks/desserts i think asgzc would get:

angeal: he feels like a peppermint hot chocolate kind of dude, but add a shit load of espresso because the poor guy absolutely needs gallons of espresso to be able to put up with zack, genesis, and sephiroth on a daily basis (someone help that poor man)

genesis: IN THEORY he would absolutely be an apple cinnamon EVERYTHING kind of guy BUT not from any kind of cafe because he believes none of them can do it right! so he has to make it himself and he has been forbidden by the others to ever be allowed to order it again because it’s never good enough for him and it pisses him off, and every time they go to a new cafe and he orders an apple cinnamon anything he always spends the rest of the day critiquing every single little thing off about it, much to the rest of the guys annoyance because none of them want to hear genesis rant about a decently flavored cafe item just because it wasn’t up to his weird apple freak standards… so instead he is 100% one of THOSE pumpkin spice bitches! like the at the cafe the moment they release it kind of pumpkin spice bitch (but even though he likes it he still doesn’t think it’s as good as it should be and he can absolutely make it better but he doesn’t complain AS much)

sephiroth: every time he goes with the others he just lets them take turns ordering for him because he’s never had most of it before, but he never ends up with any strong opinions on any of the holiday items, and he never particularly loves any of them but he never complains about it or shows any distaste in any of it either, the only indication on how he feels about whatever has been ordered for him is that if it’s something he likes his pupils will dilate like a cats, although some of the more colorful treats tend to catch his eye, and if he had to rank the others orders on which he liked best it would probably go cloud (he likes the less sweet desserts), angeal (he likes the mint cocoa, but he prefers spearmint), genesis (he actually quite like the apple cinnamon but isnt fond of pumpkin spice), and zack (he doesn’t dislike it, but he prefers the others)

zack: he feels like he would get every overly sweet treat they sell and is probably an ultra sweet smores coffee drinker, except angeal has to go behind his back and tell the barista to make it decaf, not wanting to deal with a zack hopped up on tons of sugar AND caffeine, but then genesis goes behind angeal’s back and tells the barista to make it as highly caffeinated as possible

cloud: he would probably mainly just get a few of the less sweet holiday pastries and maybe a gingerbread hot cocoa/coffee if he had to get a drink, but he also lets the others order for him when he goes out with them just because he doesn’t want to cause too much trouble
