So a handful of people were asking for lore based on this so here's a quick lore

Yes it is Prowl Jazz or Jazzprowl (idk which one it is) and its doomed yaoi

They love eachother but that fact is a threat to themselves. Theyre respected autobots. The right and left hand of Optimus prime.

Jazz loves Prowl, he can feel a deep respect that Prowl rarely gives to anyone else and had supported him. Assisting him on missions or giving out good word in his favor for Jazz. But he always felt more than just respect or a strange friendship

Jazz is like mysterious extrovert. He is a team A leader and the glue to any fall out of a team but he is rarely open. Many bots dont realize how little they know about him because he makes itmore about everyone else than himself.

But why do tney contradict each other to a point where they are both enemies and lovers and hate the fact that They love each other?

Prowl is all control, logic, order. He strategizes three steps ahead, and his world has to make sense. He's the type to suppress emotion until it eats him from the inside, all for the mission. He Values efficiency, hierarchy, rules- and he needs to believe that following them leads to victory.

Jazz, on the other hand, thrives in chaos. He's improvisational, intuitive, people-first. He leads by heart and gut, not protocol. His adaptability is his strength, and he finds meaning the moment, not necessarily in the plan.

So when they love each other, it's a threat. Not because of the love itself, but because what it represents:

For Prowl: Jazz's very existence is a constant reminder that you can win people over, lead effectively, and find meaning without control. That terrifies Prowl, because if Jazz is right, then Prow|'s entire worldview-his way of coping with war, trauma, and identity- starts to crack.

For Jazz: Prowl is the kind of person who eminds him of the cold, distant command structures that cost lives and relationships. But Prowl isn't heartless--he's just guarded. And that makes Jazz care. Deeply. Which he hates, because caring about someone so rigid, so by-the-book, means opening up to something he can't control either.

They hate that they love each other ecause it means vulnerability.

Loving Prowl means Jazz has to admit he wants structure sometimes. Sometimes he wishes he could be seen not just as the fun-loving, reliable guy but as something deeper--and Prowl does see that.

Loving Jazz means Prowl has to admit that he wants to feel. To be spontaneous. That he's tired of being the calculating machine. And Jazz is the only one who can reach that part of him- and it terrifies him.

So what happens?????

It was a terrible moment when Prowl decided to change the spec ops' plans when infiltrating the decepticon base during a plan of attack.

As a result he knew it would cost a few lives. He told nimself that its for the greater good even though it would upset Jazz. He trusted Jazz's abilities and knew he would get out alive with the cost of his bots but he also knew he would be enraged.

He knew he couldnt argue Jazz into the plan so he did it behind his back last minute. It almost killed Jazz but he survived. The reason why Jazz looks away in the video first is because Jazz is the one who rejects him.

Jazz rejected Prow| first. The one bot he trusted betrayed him and got his soldiers killed for the sake of results.

So in the end Jazz tells himself that love was a luxury anyway

booN - no clue what to do for them tbh. Thinking they'd hate snacks and stuff (might give them an eating disorder but i dont want to offend anyone so maybe not) the friendship with 666 tseuG wasn't that great and ended alot sooner than cannon forsaken

7n700 - was actually a normal guy at first, he was a pretty good dad too. After his son ddikl00c went missing, he decided to learn code and eventually started hacking and causing mayhem to distract himself from his grief.

emiT-owT - probably the sanest one there. Had beef with ezruA, like haramA and the other cult leaders probably had to make sure they didn't kill each other, until nawpS needed a sacrifice that is. After that they just handed emiT-owT a knife and let them go crazy

yksteldehS - was originally Telamon (i like to think that no matter what universe theyre from Telamon is morally grey before seperating the good and the evil from himself), and decided to be extra good to even out the evil done by his co-workers and did the whole separating into shedletsky and 1x1x1x1 deal, but fucked up and instead of removing his hatred he removed everything but his hatred. Causing him to be evil.

ecnahC - least evil of the gang tbh, only really did bad things because they had no other option. Grew up poor, gambles in hopes of winning big and helping his family instead of doing it for the adrenaline rush. Poor aim, they don't have alot experience with a gun before nekasroF, but they know enough to use it. Worked in the Mafia for a bit, but ended up leaving because it was too stressful. Idk what to do for their lore with itrapped tho, might do a follow up or something with it once their lore gets reworked.

7331 tseuG - idk how to turn this guy evil he's just that good of a guy, might make it to where he was taken to one of the guest camps when he was young and like murdered his way out of it but other than that I have no idea ToT

toillE - little greedy bastard. loves pizza, like to an unhealthy degree. He barely heals anyone, only giving pizza out if you're like one hit away from death (if you get to him before he eats it all that is) also doesn't have a grudge with 7n700 because he think their hacker shenanigans are funny

namredliuB - discourages creativity, only wears his work uniform cause self expression is bad. Probably stole his blueprints from a how to build book.

rakkesuD - doesn't rhyme, only uses magic for his own gain. etc

hpaT - not paranoid, only really covers his face and stuff because he blows shit up for fun and didn't want to go to jail. Fucking HATES namredliuB, exploding stuff is how he expresses himself so they don't get along. namredliuB doesn't know why hpaT hates him.

Killer time!! I only have ideas for 1x and c00lkidd so here are those two

ddikl00c - actually a preteen, currently in his "too cool to be into playing" phase. Still has his provision, but knows somthing is wrong with it. Everything's too uncanny and stuff. Realizes immediately that he just killed a bunch of people and tries to pretend that everything's fine until the ertcepS resets his memory to try to help.

x1x1x1x - everything but yksteldehS's hatred, only really kills because hes competitive and wants to win. Doesn't hate yksteldehS but still wants to defeat him because of honor or somthing

ertcepS really said "with the power of friendship!!" and tried putting them all into a get-along shirt I'm sobbing

hi abl! I'm a huge fan of korean and japanese bl dramas and have devoured a bunch of them, but then I decided I wanted to try a thai drama and started lovely writer on a friend's recommendation. I only made it halfway through the first episode! it felt so overacted and oh my god the SOUND EFFECTS. they were driving me CRAZY. I know that's a common problem with thai bl, but I don't want to give up yet. any recs of more "toned down" shows for me to try? happy endings only, please! my favorite k/jbl series are semantic error, cherry magic, and love mate, if that helps! thanks so much!!!

1 A Tale of Thousand Stars

2021 GMMTV

With great casting and cinematography this drama nods at BL tropes but manages to elevate them (and itself) with a strong mature story concept about a spoiled rich kid who gets a heart transplant and becomes a teacher it order to pay out survivor’s guilt. On the way he falls in love with a local park ranger and contends with his own classism and escapist tendencies. Everyone seemed to perfectly suit their roles and GMMTV made the most out of its stable. Combined with excellent production (and post production) values, 1000 Stars is without question GMMTV’s most mature, charming, and smart BL series. I think it should go down as one of the top BLs of all time. I feel safe recommending this one to friends and non BL watchers.

I chose this first for you because it has no sound effects and a mature concept, it's very very classy. But it is a SLOW burn.

2 Cherry Magic

2024 GMMTV grey (sadly, with any luck Viki will eventually pick this up, but...)

A soft charming warm hug of a show about crushes and mind reading and self worth that really worked for me. With no-fuss execution from a consummate team (at GMMTV) and an OG lead pair (proving why they remain eternal and deserve to grow up).

Look, here’s the thing, Cherry Magic is a great Thai BL in its own right - not comparing it to any other iteration. But even when I do compare (and I've seen all the Cherries and read the manga) it stands strong. I, personally, like the Thai BL slightly better than the Japanese live action yaoi, but I think that’s because I just really enjoy Thai BL's style and I LOVE TayNew. Also all the kissing was both present and better in this version. As it should be from Thailand.

Now, even if your heart is lost to the original live action yaoi, this is a good way to understand what Thailand can do, and why it is the undisputed king of BL. But you do need to understand that is is a different take, an adaptation, if you will.

3 Bad Buddy

2022 GMMTV

This was GMMTV’s flagship BL and it started 2022 on a BANG (okay no actual banging but you know what I mean), starring heavy hitters Ohm & Nanon in a pitch perfect university Romeo & Romeo masterpiece that will give you domesticity meets pain whiplash throughout and jet lag at the end. Some of the friendship and family dynamics are overworked, but it has great production values, killer acting, and some conscious effort to correct for half a decade of Thai BL’s anti-queer mistakes.

This is the enemies to lovers BL to end all BLs. I chose it for you because of your love for Semantic Error, this is in a similar vein.

4 My Ride

2022 Gaga

Thai BL grew up with this pulp (the first ever to make my end of year top 10). It’s a truly lovely and special little show featuring the extremely rare pairing of sunshine/sunshine (AKA a cinnamon roll couple) plus mature explorations of relationships using one of the softest, sweetest and most innocent friends to lovers vehicles. Kindly, overworked doctor meets broken-hearted motorcycle taxi driver in an “other side of the tracks” slow burn romance. The support cast is excellent, making for great friendship groups and family dynamics. With honest queer rep that adds to, but doesn’t impede, the story, and genuine conversation about the nature of class, wealth, and classism, not to mention communication, honesty, and respect for boundaries, you can’t go wrong with this show. In other news, I am a sucker for a single dimple.

This is one of my "under appreciated gems" and if you can forgive it some of it's low production roughness I think you'll like the grit that comes with the sweet.

5 Step By Step

2023 Gaga & Viki

This was Thailand’s answer to KBL The New Employee, and everything I loved about that show I loved about this one. This office romance between a stern boss and sweet subordinate felt more authentic to cubical work than previous Thai BLs of this ilk. That authenticity added tension to the narrative and its characters' development (how novel). I also really enjoyed the charming side characters and the brothers' relationship to each other (although I could have done without that brother's side BL).

I chose this one specifically because of your Love Mate call out, although different dynamic.

6 ThamePo

2025 GMMTV YouTube (for now, I think this will move to a pay-to-play platform soon tho)

The boyband idol romance I've been waiting for from Korea, only Thailand did it instead. Quintessentially Thai and very GMMTV with good production values, great chemistry, and a solid support cast. It also was a hung romance mostly driven by external conflict and a found family reunion trope so I didn’t mind (too much) when that romance thread felt secondary. I loved it (except, of course, the singing).

I chose this because the visuals are on point (and your KBL addiction can only be explained in part through shallowness - solidarity) but also it's one of the better more recent BLs to fulfill your criteria. You want to know what Thai Bl is best at right now? This, this is it.

7 Wandee Goodday

2024 GMMTV

A charming modern Thai BL about a doctor and a boxer who start as a one night stand and then fall in love. Great rep for everything from Muay Thai, to safe sex, to FUN sex, to ace, to bisexuality, to smiley kisses, to the first legal gay wedding in a Thai BL. It’s a delight and I enjoyed (almost) every single moment of it. Without question its best traits are active positive representations of green flag boys, communication, and grown-up relationships but the chemistry is on point too.

Highly recommended as one of 2024's best pick-me-ups. Turn off your brain this is just a fun show. In fact, I think it might be time for a rewatch.

8 The Heart Killers

2025 GMMTV (iQIYI & Viki)

Jojo directs this action romcom about assassin brothers meets tattoo artist ex-booster & very flirty mechanic conmen. I dithered over how to rate this. It felt like an 8 show wearing a 9’s britches. There were dropped threads, forgotten characters, and unfinished plot lines even with a particularly long run time. And, for me, it doesn’t have significant rewatch potential. But it was fun (when one applies no expectations or logic) and I enjoyed the wildly unhinged relationships and, weirdly, music.

I mean nobody claimed that we needed Taming of the Shrew only with gay Thai hitman, but we really needed it. And no one asked for Petruchio as the gayest brat ever to strut his perfect skin and copped-top across our screen, and yet we loved him for it. Sure it didn’t make sense, was utterly absurd, but it was terribly earnest and sexy about it. In the end this goes hand-in-hand with all these other absurd crime pieces we’ve been getting since KinnPorsche, and frankly I like this one the best of the lot.

I'm not sure how you'll like this, it's a wildy soapy ride, and a bit EXTRA but the chemistry THE CHEMISTRY. Still, no skin if you drop it for reasons other than sound effects.

9 Your Sky

2025 iQIYI

As pulps go this is right up there with my favorite if all time, My Ride, but for different less complex reasons. This is a relatively simple yet endearingly old school story of a fake relationship between a sunshine sweetie and an older reserved rich kid who slowly fall in love. It's soft gentle low stakes leans on everything I love best about Thai BL. It’s a warm fuzzy robe of a show that will not hurt you.

Because you're used to shorter form BL you may find this slow, but that's okay. Get yourself a tropical drink or a bowl of ice cream and just... relax, enjoy. It'll all be alright in the end.

10 We Are

2024 iQIYI

I loved show, but it's last on this list for... reasons.

It was slow to find its stride (I didn’t get into it until ep 6) but I’m so glad I gave it a chance. It’s a soft ensemble piece with multiple couples (you will be introduced to most of GMMTVs pairs) and very little plot, but I didn’t care because it’s not trying to be anything more substantial. Essentially this was a series of vignettes covering one year of uni for a queer friendship group finding love, new friends, and laughter. Did it blow my mind? No. But it left me smiling and made me belly laugh quite a bit.

This one may be too MUCH much Thai BL muchness for you. So deifnately see if any of the others work first, especially Your Sky. This is more in that vein than others.

If those last 2 do end up working for you then you might also try Oxygen (2020 YouTube). Oxygen uses every BL trope in the playbook for one of the gentlest lowest angst BLs ever made. It’s a hyung romance (younger boy courts older boy) but very very earnest about it. Am I biased? Sure. This is probably one of my biggest comfort watches. But no one else ever seems to love it as much as I do.

I Thought About it But...

Okay so I took high concept and genre off the table because you didn't mention anything like that but I tend to rate those kinds of shows highly and it's one of Thailand's strengths in the BL sphere these days. So these are BLs I would ordinarily recommend but they are not JUST BL.

Until We Meet Again (YouTube) - my #1 top favorite Thai BL (the only one to have a 10/10 from me). Occasionally my all time most favorite of them all. May be a big dark for you, but if you could take The 8th Sense than you might like this.

Century of Love (Gaga) - If you don't mind some time travel-esk genre in your BL you might enjoy this one.

He's Coming to Me (YouTube) - this one has a strong paranormal element, but it is great. Boy and ghost boy fall in love, must solve ghost’s murder.

I Feel You Linger in the Air (grey) - an exquisite BL, from filming techniques to narrative framework (much like Until We Meet Again). But the ending is not entirely happy.

La Pluie (Viki ) - This BL takes to task the fated mates trope and what it means to have love chained intimately to predestination.

The Sign (YouTube) - This show is the opposite of toned down, it's literally everything (except straight) all at once. It's BL, queer, band of brothers, romcom, erotica, PNR, fated mates, police procedural, fantasy, mystery, suspense, and slasher. It’s the king of genre mash-up chaos. Sure, it's madness but there is genius in it. Was it a crazy unhinged mess +1 roll for damage? Yes. Yes it was. Did it manage to hold all those tangled threads together? No it did not. Was it also a charming, sexy, engaging, non-stop piece of entertainment? Sure thing. Is it perfect? No. But it was balls to the wall FUN. Emphasis on balls.

Other's that you might like but I'm not confident on because of your comps and "toned down" preferences.

Laws of Attraction (iQIYI)

Triggers for violence, beatings, death and torture depicted on screen. This is a great gay suspense thriller with several solid couples, fun plot, killer characters, queer rep, and a happy ending. It is, however, not at all toned down. Charn may be my favorite lead character in all BL. However, this show is not entirely BL, more on the fringe, like Manner of Death.

My School President (GMMTV)

You didn't name any high school BL and I can't remember but this may have a few sound effects and it gets and little frantic and angsty. GMMTV gave us a classic high school set Thai BL with tropes like messy boys singing their feelings. Who let my BL be this wholesome and funny? This show was fantastic, it’s only flaw was the singing (and that’s my baggage). One of my favourite GMMTV BL offerings of all time. And yes, I've watched them ALL. But you have to like high school angst.

Not Me (GMMTV)

How do you say antidisestablishmentarianism in Thai? + hot boys kissing who probably shouldn't be and convoluted soap opera identical twins plot... someone at GMMTV thought it made sense, we just here for the tattoos and the the Pride scene. GMMTV gave us a dark disestablishment narrative (in a time of civil unrest) with established queer award-winning director Anucha and starring the biggest guns of BL, OffGun and THIS WAS AN AMAZING THING to get to experience at the time - nerve racking but remarkable. But was it ACTUALLY BL? It certainly has a lot of BL elements, but in the end romance was not what this show was about, or even what it was genuinely trying to be as a performance piece. Still a remarkable moment in Thai cinema, certainly worth your time. Don’t worry, it all ends happily.

I gotta say I feel the same way about Lovely Writer. I think I dinged it a whole point because of those sound effects. (And I actually really loved that show.) The bad effects slow (but never stop) in the second half, but it is possibly one of the worst offenders. And there are A LOT of offenders.

1- Sangihun,Jibyeok and 457 are ships that are just pure yaoi and yuri fantasy. In my eyes, Sang-Woo and Gi-Hun are doomed friends who got brutally hit by a tragic ending. Gi-Hun and Frontman are enemies who are different sides of the same coin (enemeies that have paralles but choosed different paths).I can't say certain thing about Sae-Byeok and Ji-Yeong but they are purely platonic to me (wish their dynamic were explored more tho).

2- Dae-Ho lied about being marine is a bullshit (Dae-Ho my boi get behind me!)

3- Jung-Bae and Jun-Ho are underrated as hell (and Jung-Bae deserves better than what he's got from the fandom)

4- Frontman being jealous of everyone breathing down Gi-Hun or other jokes about 457 is getting old as Optimus and Megatron divorced and made it everyone's problem.

1. A lot of the people in these notes are confused as to why 457 or inhun is so popular and I want to give my quick n short thoughts on it. I personally belive it's a hold over from S1. One of the most popular ships was sangwoo x gi hun. While sangwoo obviously isn't as bad as in-ho he was still a very toxic character all things considered. My point is, I think the thousands of toxic yaoi shippers that shipped 218 x 456 just migrated and latched onto 001 x 456 lmao.

2. This is just an echo in here but JUNG BAE IS UNDERRATED AS FUCK WHYYYY??? He so charismatic and he's an echo of S1 Gi-hun you would think people would really dig him. IDK I did.

3. Genuinely shocked in ho is popular they way he is. Not to be confused with him being popular in the first place. I get him BEING popular. They way he is popular tho... is odd. Thanos had the fandom response I thought Inho was going to reccive. Instead, seeing sooo many people being sympathetic and justifying his POV was... interesting to say the least.

4. I don't think all inhun shippers are the same and i have my own delulu ships. So when I say thier mental gymnastics are crazy I'm referring to a specific group. Those who try to ship them realistically are rare. In ho has an unhealthy obsession with gi hun that much is clear. But seeing so many trying to justify that obsession as romantic instrest rather than a cold manipulator who desperately wants to be right is comical. You need to insert a lot of imagination to make this ship sail.

5. I'm outing myself with this bias buuuut. I'm so shocked Jung bae x gi hun is practically nonexistent??? Gi hun was so protective over jung bae from the moment he saw him🥺. The way Jung-bae was able to cheer him up to acting like his older self. Jung bae at the start was cowardly but still chose certain death to fight with and protect Gi-hun. They have a past. Jung's last name was to signify him being Gi hun's "bae". OMG WHY DID SO FEW SEE THE VISON?!?!?

And Sangihun was never as popular as Inhun is, although it had every right to be.

Hard agree on Jung-bae. I don't know why he isn't more popular, idk what to tell you. Maybe his fans are less vocal and talk about him less than the fans of In-ho, for example. To be hones, I'm a Jung-bae fan and don't talk about him that much, so I'm guilty of this too.

Unfortunately, people tend to do that with attractive characters. They tend to justify him and excuse him too much, I find him an extremely interesting and well written character but I don't think what he's done is justifiable. I don't think he has much possibility for redemption either.

Predictions on What Might Happen in Drdt ch.3 Part 1

So with the emotional roller coaster of ch.2 finished, I figured it would be nice theorizing what could happen next chapter based off the current information we know and some predictions/theories I’ve either seen around or have. Share any thoughts about the theories/prediction or your own down below the comments or reblogs! This will be multiple parts due to the word limit, so let's get started!

For starters, lets go over who’s currently alive:

As for gender ratio we have 6 girls, 1 enby, and 5 guys remaining(unless Levi dies, then only 4).

So with that being said, that means most likely to balance out the gender ratio between the guys and girls(excluding Nico our beloved furry enby), we would have to have 2 girls die and 1 guy die. Leaving only 4 girls, 4 guys, and 1 enby left. That is if Drdt follows the three people dying during chapter 3 formula(to which this post will pretend it will).

Now who would our victims and culprit be? We’ll get back to that later. For now lets move onto the current mental states and situations our cast is in and how that will reflect on their development/survival chances?

Teruko: As we seen in the last ep of ch.2, Teruko…..is not doing great. Now Teruko has definitely gotten a lot of great development in the sense of potentially starting to trust others again as we seen in the trial. But there’s also the factor that Teruko is suffering from the deaths of her classmates in secret due to thinking she’s to fault for their deaths because of her luck. Seeing Ace died affected Teruko badly because she was just like him in trying to push others away to be safe and not hurt(Ace being basically a dark reflection of Teruko this chapter). Along with seeing herself no different from him or Arei in being a bad person. This could definitely affect Teruko in her current relationships(Charles, Eden, Rose, Whit, and possibly Levi now), but I still think there’s a spark of hope that Teruko will allow herself to at least work with others or hang out a bit more with people at a distance. I conclude that Teruko Tawaki will start working with others again while suffering from guilt both survivors guilt and guilt of almost having Levi killed because she broke a rule via asking Ace to kill MonoTv.

Charles: Now last we seen of our beloved tsundere chemist was him going back to a state of shock from seeing Levi bloody and barely alive. To which after Charles recovers from it and Levi is taken care of, here’s what I think will happen to him. I believe we’ll see Charles starting to work more with others who are willing now that we see that Charles accepts friendship from others thanks to Whit(and kinda Teruko in ch.1). Along with his friends, he is definitely gonna be so worried and upset at Teruko for almost dying. Yeah she didn't get shot and instead Levi did, but still Charles was concern for her regardless if her luck would prevent her from dying. Another thing I saw brought up from a few posts is Charles starting to become more independent while still dependant on others. What I exactly mean is I think Charles will prevent others like Whit from trying to protect him as he does not want to be pitied and with him being sheltered by his parents, this increases his desire to do and face things on his own. This might cause complications in his friendship with Whit since Whit seems to be really protective of Charles to cover his eyes when death/blood happens or giving him an alibi in the trial. But who knows?(although I can see them targeting Charwhit as they had it good for too long and how every other yaoi/Yuri ship has been doomed). Also we might get more Charles and Elliot lore next chapter, I'm feeling it.

Whit: So Whit……its kinda hard predicting what will happen to Whit exactly since the dude doesn't let the current situation bother him(the secrets being all revealed, Levi almost dying, Ace dying, etc). Only concern he has is with Charles and like I said for Charles, maybe we might have CharWhit drama, its hard telling. But I will say that I believe Whit is probably going become more suspicious since we seen that one sprite in ep16. Like seriously WTF WAS THAT WHIT!? Like no joke if this keeps up, he is definitely the mastermind or at least traitor. I got my eyes on you Whit Young (≖_≖ ) . Oh and I do have a theory of what role Whit can play in ch.3 I’ll go more into another section.

Eden: Oh sweet Eden, you deserve so much 😭 Okay so definitely Eden is going to be in mourning over Arei and I feel like with now both Ace dead and Levi almost dying, she’s probably at her mental limit. Like I don't believe she’ll end up like Teruko in the beginning of ch.2, but I don't think Eden will be able to be the good support system for everyone with what she’s going through rn. Like Teruko and Xander with his family, Eden is going through survivor guilt over Arei, Min, and possibly Ace? We seen how Eden thinks Min’s death is her fault with the baking activity and think its the same with Arei during the trial. Along with Ace, Eden did state that while she doesn't forgive him for killing Arei, she feels bad for him and this happening. Like Eden said, this all could’ve been prevented. Eden probably blames herself in not checking up on Ace, trying to befriend Arei that lead to her trying to protect her, or not being able to help diffuse the fighting at the cafeteria as well since that lead up to David making everyone reveal their secrets to each other. I think it will take some time and emotional support hopefully from Teruko and anyone else kind to support her for Eden to be able to bounce back from this one.

J: Honestly I don't have a lot to say about J rn. Her main concern is on Levi, but if I was going to guess what might happen to her or be explored with her for chapter 3. We’ll probably get more lore on her family and perhaps why J seems more anti-murder than everyone else. Along with this, she’ll probably snap and get Arturo hopefully off her back for good if he still tries to stalk/bother her. Otherwise hopefully she’ll just be vibin.

Arturo: Oh Arturo, you are definitely being set up for some character development. With Arturo’s secret being revealed about his sister, his involvement with Eden and Arei, and along with having Levi’s life in his hands. He is going to be going through the wringer I tell you. To start off, if Levi lives, I think that will be a bit of hope and maybe redemption in himself in Arturo’s eyes as I feel like his dialogue to Ace in ep16 might hint he feels like he can’t save anyone since he couldn't save his sister from dying(via killing herself). If Levi dies, that is going to start a downspiral for him as he is going to believe he failed to save someone again and now has two deaths on his hands. Going into his sister and involvement with Eden, I think this is going to cause some discourse with others. Specifically J and Hu. J because she already thinks low of him because of his treatment towards her and the fact she believes he is actually responsible for Felicity’s death(although you could argue that maybe she just said that because she’s mad at him for causing this murder to happen a little). Hu I think will get on him too for both threatening Eden which lead to Ace being able to frame her and kill Arei and the fact Hu does not take lightly of someone causing a suicide knowing her secret. I think this will be apart of the discourse over the group’s secrets and potential fault in what happened last chapter.

Veronika: Oh girlie you’re the one I’m concern for the most! Okay so Veronika is starting to get more disturbing in the killing game with how she’s reacting to both Ace’s death and Levi getting injured. And with both her secret revealed and how the group is going right now, I don't think it will be good for her. We know how that Veronika uses her talent and to extent, the killing game to entertain herself enough to prevent her from self harming herself. With how I think the group will have conflict with each other, I think she’ll be fine at first since drama will be interesting to her. Even if she gets involve as I could see someone blame her for what happened last chapter since she failed to stop Nico and Ace’s fight along with encouraging Ace’s paranoia about dying. I don't think she’ll feel bad since there was other factors + she finds it more interesting how events happen. All of this will possibly come crashing down for her as if everyone starts distancing themselves from others, then how will Veronika be able to keep herself entertained? She won’t have any drama or anyone to watch horror movies with her. This could lead to her going to a dark space in possibly causing something to entertain her or be possibly manipulated.

THE FUCKING BUG ZAPPER SCENE CAUGHT ME SO OFF GUARD I CANT STOP THINKING ABOUT IT

anyways the movie was goated i kept very quietly pspspsps ing every time shadow was on screen OH MY GOD HE WAS SO CUTE... the scene where he was being put into stasis made me want to cry he looked so sad little sopping cat... im really curious on what sonic and shadows dynamic is going to be like in future movies or shows because they genuinely hit it off towards the end... idk with complying with chilling and watching a telenovela with stone (revenge guac is an amazing line) and how quickly he opened up to sonic it feels like this version of shadow is a little less closed off than mainline sega mandated shadow... (could be me hoping too much for more interactions between them 😭😭)

maria was given a really silly personality here and i love it so much... girl just wanted to have fun with her cool alien friend. she still has the title of being the only one who treated shadow as a person on the base but her not being sick in this iteration and generally not having any reason to be there other than wanting to goof off makes her relationship with shadow a little different but still really strong. shes not someone shadow is meant to protect, but she still saw the good in him anyway and shadow reciprocated the friendship despite not having any ties to her. AND THEY WERE BESTIES. THEIR SCENES WERE SO CUTE... ITS JUST SO AUGHHHHHHH... its still just as tragic, especially since she didn't give shadow any last words. SHE DIDN'T GIVE HER WISH... obviously she can still act as a symbol of the good in humanity to shadow but there isn't that promise that shadow internalizes... there are so many implications to shadow being some guy they found instead of a government assisted project...

please let shadow and stone interact again i love how stone took the order to babysit shadow literally. more stone in general hes my goat and i love him make him go crazy if eggman cant be metals commander or the big bad make it stone

"i have brain damage" tier would've been called "the qpr meth has gotten to me" but then i remembered how absolutely glued to the screen i was for sound of drums <3 all of the other episodes there are either donna episodes or episodes where ten goes through horrors specifically bc donna isn't there and sound of drums is the exception lmao

by default i think simm!master is the best main villain in ten's run. he is still very goofy like the cybermen and the daleks (and 98% of the villains in this show really) but simm!master has that toxic doomed yaoi backing him and that means everything in the world. rtd drop your simm!master spotify playlist

it is SO CRAZY how an episode called "planet of the ood" can make me cry. but it did. and i love it for it. i love the ood so much. they are my little guys

stolen earth/journey's end was my least favorite arc in main series 4 - which is just a testament to how much i loved the rest of it lmao. like i still rly liked the finale, and the scene of davros pointing out that ten turned their friends into soldiers and how it was framed almost like they were being put on trial. Was so fucking juicy. but it felt overall like the story was doing that "trying to include everyone" thing and the pacing felt off as a result. like i rly needed the donna mind wipe scene to be longer it was goin so fast i couldn't process it

42 goes so crazy and i love it so much bc to me it is the defining tenmartha episode. you have that showcase of deep inherent trust, of swearing to save each other, of being the person the other needs bc is there anyone else. but you also have ten screaming at her to kill him so that he won't hurt anyone and then at the end, deflecting and refusing to talk w her about it. "burn with me martha" is like that previously-unspoken-now-brought-to-front undercurrent to their whole relationship and ten says it while being possessed by a rageful vindictive sun. waow

i really dislike the temporary companions (astrid and christina in voyage of the damned and planet of the dead respectively). not the characters themselves but the timing and role they have in the story and how they're framed. i do understand that part of ten's character is that he gets attached very easily and can't stand being on his own, but also for astrid this was directly post-martha where ten's realized he's been fucking up her life by acting the way he did. and for christina this was post-donna and pre-time-lord-victorious. forming a friendship that ends w/ tragedy or ten pushing them away i can see, but romantic tension is pushing it HARD. which leads me to my next deranged point

ten is aroace to me i'm so sorry society he clocked the aroace meter the minute the story decided to introduce donna and then in series 4 make them the soulmates of all time while there isnt a HINT of romantic tension between them. and there is something so narratively aspec about ten being created by and for love but sometimes his love isn't enough/isn't the right kind and everyone will leave or find someone else. being an alien can be a metaphor for being aroace if i'm crazy enough about it (and also if their humanity is a constant theme to their arc that is hammered in time and time again)

one of the most out of body experiences i had was watching love and monsters, really quite liking it (despite finding the ending weird) because it's a grounded and solid episode w strong characterization and really great jackie and rose moments, only to find out this episode is nearly universally despised by the dr who fanbase. help girl

the human ten arc probably has the most underrated villains in the show. i just really love that concept of monsters that need to eat timelords in order to survive, and ten giving them one chance to be spared of his rage and die peacefully by turning himself into a human for a hot minute. it's just really neat idk.

time lord victorious my babygirl. like oh my god i was wondering for the entire time how the fuck does ten go from "vain/overconfident but at heart always driven by his love for others" to "god complex" and the answer to this question is "you take away everyone he cares about and make him watch more and more people die in front of him until he just fucking snaps". at the end of waters of mars i was almost expecting him to knock 4 times on the tardis door himself and was so glad it didnt happen. etc etc. i'm also really glad that it doesn't last for more than 5 minutes. what he does essentially haunts him for the rest of his (short) life and that's so so important

end of time part 2 doesn't get a ranking. it is simultaneously the best episode and worst episode. it made me cry my eyes out three separate times. like it's not even an episode anymore it's like an experience. specifically one akin to watching a good friend you made over the course of 16 days die in front of you. i felt my soul being sucked out and i wont ever feel anything again (until the 60th anniversary specials fix me). god fucking bless

but pairing up martha and mickey out of nowhere was so so fucking bad and i need to actually murder whoever made that decision

Ranking the Xenoblade Games based on how straight they are

this is a mix of legitimate grievances about the writing and just goofing around. starting at least straight to most. Also not including X sorry I havent played it.

1. Xenoblade 2

Most of the romance in this game is light due to it being a sort of cute puppy love. Nothing actually happens between the characters and it’s mostly contained to the main characters with most side characters being free from clumsy straight love plots. There’s a couple of blushy scenes between Pyra/Mythra and Rex but most of their serious/emotional interactions are genuine and honest and don’t really get into romance or some hidden feelings they need to confess to. Even Nia’s confession is more of something for herself and she never really changes bc she’s in love or focuses on it that much. 

Beyond the main characters, sheba exists, jin and lora can be considered one sided at least romantically (she’s the one to make flirty comments in Torna and he always responds along the lines of ???) and he’s explicitly not motivated by her death, while it did obviously impact him it’s something he’d accepted and used as fuel for his ultimate goal. and of course there’s Malos, who’s own voice actor was like “cmon he was in love with Jin”. Morag and Brighid also exist. There’s even some old man furry yaoi implications with gramps and azurda in that one scene??? ngl its kind of cute. 

2. Xenoblade 3

Got a lot of points in the heteronormative category here. The main characters are paired up in m/f duos, but while 2/3 of them are romantically coded, Sena and Lanz aren’t really and Sena’s most focused relationship is probably Mio. To the game’s credit, it also doesn’t restrict them to these pairs and lets the whole group interact and have friendships and dynamics outside of the shippy ones. 

An emphasis is put on the true nature of humanity being to fall in love and have kids, but considering the context of the scene only certain parts of it really make me go “mmmmmm”. these characters are test tube babies who have never seen a real human baby and so it’s wholesome and understandable, but Monica’s wording about specifically couples later does lean towards heteronormative “everyone must grow up and have a kid.” Considering she canonically had a teenage pregnancy though and her baby daddy clearly isn’t around I expect she’s very shaped by that experience though. 

After that scene we don’t see a ton of heteronormative sentiment from city members (Ghondor, Shania, and Masha dont have any romantic sentiments, grey and rozana dont have kids and have a rather atypical but trusting relationship in general) and the focus on legacy and family is shown to have its toxic sides with Shania’s mom (who is also just. no 1 messed up lesbian in my heart).

Mio and Noah do start to have their characters focus more on romance and have their whole doomed soulmates shtick but I feel like they’re still given focus as individual characters in the main story post that revelation so I kind of forgive it, and the unhealthiest possible manifestation of their relationship is one of the main villains so. Also ngl they’re just cute, so I’m a bit biased here. I get if you’re groaning at the game pushing the main straight couple hard but at least they don’t suddenly lose all their personality when it happened. 

3. Xenoblade 1

Hoo boy. There’s just a lot of it in this game. Ngl it took me a while to properly get into Xenoblade bc while I liked the first game overall, it also just had some things that rubbed me the wrong way and 2′s general reputation didn’t make it seem much better (then I played it and fell in love and retroactively appreciate 1 more but yeah) and one of those things was how the game very quickly fridged the only female character as a love interest. Yaaaaay. 

Like yes she comes back later but at the time I was just kinda like. oh. ok then :/ and even when Fiora comes back, she’s super Shulk focused. Girl, you’ve been kidnapped and forcibly made into a cyborg and house a god who was walking around in your body but ig you’re mostly thinking about how your bf would feel. seriously when she’s fucking DYING her main concern is that Shulk doesn’t find out. like ok. Even her interactions with melia have that whole love triangle hanging over them as subtext. I greatly appreciate they didn’t got he jealousy angle and had Fiora genuinely want to reach out and be friends, but it does definitely feel like shulk is a matter constantly lingering whenever they talk.

And poor Sharla man. Seconds into meeting reyn she’s comparing him to her missing fiancé, despite still feeling he’s alive and wanting to find him. The game gives every hint that Gadolt may still be alive and rescuable, Meyneth even says smth like “I can feel this Homs still there” but not only does he die, he basically says “take care of her” to reyn like BOY you don’t know this man??? why would you say your last words to him and not your fiancé like ok. It felt like they wanted to make it “ok” for them to get together by killing him off and having him say that, even though everything until then had hinted with a hopeful tone that he could still be saved.

Ngl Melia’s unrequited love isn’t that bad but it does feel unnecessary considering how much she already suffers. Like you just really gotta rub it in huh. The fandom is wayyy worse about it than the game though, because canonically she moves on and is still surrounded by her friends and subjects and whatnot and doesn’t become some bitter scorned lover, but the fandom constantly jokes about it/acts like she is.

also some of the alt outfits, esp Sharla and Fiora’s are just...very obnoxious sexy fantasy armor. esp for flora when most of her body is supposed to be replaced with mechon parts but ig her tits were miraculously intact. They both deserve better writing ngl.

Soft Reliable (devoted) Seme + Feisty Uke

Ooo, fun request! So explicitly NOT a tsundere or a himbo seme. But the uke could probubly be tsundere. 

Seven Days (what you doubt me?) - Japan, grey 

Of course it rates. Seryou & Yuzuru don’t have a very strong S/u dynamic but Seryou is (basically) the pursuer and he is soft AF. Yuzuru isn’t so much tsundere as he is obstreperous. I consider this one of the best live action yaois ever made, with perfectly structured angst, fantastic characters and acting, and no problematic tropes (rare in Japanese BL). The leads have excellent chemistry although it’s low heat there’s still some really cute mutual kisses. 

Light on Me - Korea, Viki

Very much a high school setting and low heat, but this is still one of my favorite KBLs. It’s an elegant pastiche of traditional live action yaoi but all tropes are cleverly deployed to bolster one of the most riveting love triangles ever put on screen… and I don’t like love triangles! Both semes are super soft. Full review. 

Make it Right - Thailand, YouTube 

The original Thai version of this dynamic. Tee is unequivocally devoted to Fuse from the moment they first get together. Fuse is more chaos bi: cheating, messy and confused (as is common with the high school stuff) but I think it’s the dynamic you’re after. What more can I say about this show, the origin of the Thai BL pulps? It’s objectively terrible, and not just the leads but the side couples too, and yet I love it. I tend to call myself the “world’s foremost Make It Right apologist.” I recognize the issues but I find it utterly charming, especially Tee’s utter devotion to Fuse the disaster.

SOTUS - Thailand, YouTube

The follow up version to Make it Right, but less soft. This is the BL that launched a hundred BLs. No literally, It was SOTUS’s international success that pretty much built the Thai BL industry into the juggernaut it is today. It’s classic sunshine/tsundere, but Kong is very steadfast and soft. People have baggage around SOTUS, I have nostalgia. trigger: hazing and bullying. 

Manner of Death - Thailand, WeTV 

Honestly I think this one qualifies. This is TanBun’s dynamic. I like MoD a lot but I’m conflicted over it being actually BL. It’s a great gay romantic suspense, although the mystery element is its weakness. MaxTul, the Kings of chemistry, are, of course, perfect and perfectly cast, but their romance thread is more a distraction than an addition. Still, I could watch them make-out the phonebook. Trash watch here.

Nitiman - Thailand, YouTube

This show was so close to being brilliant. They fudged the ending but this is probubly one of Thailand’s most classic takes on uni set yaoi with this exact dynamic. This Thai BL pulp had sympathetic characters, a solid tsundere uke redemption arc, and a fantastic pining seme who yearned without bullying, grooming, or gaslighting. Plus when they're together, they're ridiculously soft. But it also had a realistic portrayal of university life, bisexual awakening, and friendship groups. Bummer about the ending. Full review. 

Dear Doctor, I’m Coming For Your Soul - Thailand, iQIYI 

This is a romance between a doctor trying to save his patients and a reaper who is both his enemy and (eventual) lover. Basically it’s the genius premise of a gay Doom at Your Service. High concept looks good on you, Thailand. It’s lovely to see KarnNat back on screen together and they are still great, and Karn is just painfully beautiful. I enjoyed it more than it’s ending deserved, and the best I can say is that it’s not strictly HEA but if you’re okay with Life: Love on the Line, you’ll be okay with this BL. It’s set up well, there’s no surprise unpleasantness like HIStory 3: The BL that shall not be named. Full review.

Basically the softest BL ever Bar is feisty, but it’s kinda token tsundere. Younger boy wants to court older boy and does and… that’s it. No really that’s the WHOLE STORY. There is actually no angst, drama, or, indeed plot. But are they the softest bois ever to BL as a main couple? Yes, they are.

Cherry Magic - Japan, indie subbed

AKA 30 Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard AKA 30-sai made Dotei Da to Mahotsukai ni Nareru rashii

Kurosawa is certainly soft but Adachi is maybe more chaos confused than feisty. (Another one like this is My Love Mix Up.) This is the sweetest fluffiest magical realism BL, packaged as a pinning office romance, very low heat (practically chaste) but the cutest. 

Mr. Unlucky Can Only Kiss - Japan, Viki (fan subbed) 

AKA Fukou-kun wa Kiss Suru Shikanai! AKA Mr. Unlucky Has No Choice but to Kiss!

Mr Chronically Unlucky (another adorable chaos muffin) and Mr Always Lucky (solid, steadfast, crushing from the start) end up dating after they meet at uni orientation. It’s JAPAN yet they kissed in the first episode. What freaky alt-reality did I enter into? That’s all they kiss tho, over which I was a touch disappointed (I know). Still I spent far too much of my time with this show biting my knuckles and squealing “THEY’RE SO CUTE!” It is very slapstick Japanese style comedic (light) BL, so if you like that style, you’ll adore this show. 

Amusing story: I paused mid the most tooth-achingly adorable first date in the entire universe and Viki was like “something missing?” and I was like “MY HEART YOU BASTARDS!” 

Word of Honor - China censored, YouTube & Viki 

I don’t rec Chinese stuff often, because I believe in censoring the censors, but this show is one of my favorites of the post 2016 censored bromances. It’s two murder-gay assassins (pining sunshine/tsundere), and they are so insanely gay for two boys who will never be allowed to kiss. Tropes include: wuxia, soulmates, paranormal, historical, and fantasy elements.

Plustor Pronpiphat is leaving GMMTV (Stud in Friend Zone). Very sad to hear about this, since he never got his own BL and he has fantastic chemistry with everyone. Fingers crossed that he goes indie and gets some good rolls, he’s a SUPERB actor. Maybe Wabi Sabi will scoop him up. 

Lazy Subber reported on FB (posting the official statement) that Nadao Bangkok has postponed I Told Sunset About You Part 2 (and fan meeting) indefinitely due to Covid-19. 

Gossip 

It’s likely that most previously announced (but not yet filmed) 2021 Thai BLs will be effected/postponed/cancelled as well due to the current rise in cases, lockdown, and political unrest in Thailand. ITSAY is only the beginning I suspect. 

Since they have already completed filming, I think we can expect 1000 Stars and Lovely Writer to still air. 

When I did my industry insider predictions at the end of 2020 and pinned all my hopes on Taiwan in 2021 I had no idea it would be this quick.

Ben & Earth (PhaWayo) have left Motive (production house): Earth (officially) Sept 2020 and Ben (unofficially via Twitch) Nov 2020. 

Joong & Nine (MingKit AKA J9) have intimated they aren’t coming back either. 

Pavel & Dome (ForthBeam) are no-comment but no one thinks they’ll renew their contracts. (It’s known that Pavel has serious issues with Motive.) 

If 2M3 films it will likely be with a new cast and certainly with a new director. You can read the doggerel here. Don’t forget the former director is supposed to be bringing out Call It What You Want this year, which is rumored to be partly an exposé on what happened on the set of 2M2.
