I really don't think we appreciate how feral Renee is. Like, she puts on the front of a good Christian girl, and she is trying so hard, but the second anything goes slightly wrong she defaults to crime immediately.

i think i have officially figured out that my favorite characters almost always fall into one of two categories for some period of time. either:
a.) the (at least seemingly) ruthless one who thinks they’re better than everyone else
and/or alternatively
b.) the ball of pure anxiety

When I read or watched something like Harry Potter as a kid, I mostly just wished I were as cool/talented/overall impressive as the characters in the movie or show or book. But when I consume that same media as an adult, mostly all I feel is grief for those same characters because they’re CHILDREN and they never should have had to face this 😭

Some of my favorite hyperfixations are the ones that I’m clearly not in the target age demographic for anymore.
Like- it instills an inherent shame deep within me, but GOD DAMN do I enjoy myself with those fixations.
Love em’. I love enjoying wide ranges of media. :D

My gendar is composed soley of naive, happy, sunshine, optimistic and good hearted young boys from musicals who get their whole life fucked up by a higher power who messes and takes advantage of them.

realizing i only enjoy omegaverse when the omega is Pissed Off about it. when the character cannot fucking BELIEVE they’re an omega. just an angry hissing clawing biting omega, and the alpha is so very chill in comparison and also astonished that the absolute bastard they’re looking at is an omega.

mia stegner needs to get more popular because so many of her lyrics are absolutely perfect for all-lowercase ao3 fic titles (maybe with strategic parentheses)

One of my least favorite things that happens when a new fandom appears:
Male character appears who has very obvious mental health issues, he does some bad things because he those issues.
Fandom uwufies him to hell and back, ignoring all flaws and just depicts him as a poor depressed sad boy who can't do anything wrong.
Someone goes 'um, you guys realize he's actually a bad person and an abuser? It's pretty weird you like him.'
Immediate 180 from fandom
Character gets demonized, all complexities of his characters are ignored. People are suddenly like 'if you like him or identify with him, there's something wrong with you' and things of that ilk.
If it's the protagonist, people start calling the piece of media problematic as if it justifies his behavior even when it clearly doesn't.
Does this make sense to anyone else or am I insane? Like, I know in fandom male characters are generally over praised or focused on while good female characters get pushed to the side which is also bullshit. But I feel like looking at characters without nuance, especially ones with mental health issues, isn't as progressive as some people think.

And we can certainly imagine these exemplars of Hanna-Barbera Funtastic as are definitely into the van life, culture and folkways:
Huckleberry Hound and Snagglepuss
The Three Wolves and the Divin' Wolf Pups (Loopy de Loop and Bon-Bon, Hokey Wolf and Ding-a-Ling and Mildew Wolf)
Emmy Lou and Jenny Lee
Scooby-Doo and crew (as is obviously known)
The Hair Bear Bunch
Goober and the Ghost Chasers
The Skatebirds

People when a character is aromantic or aromantic coded: Wowie! They’re aroACE! Because they aren’t interested in romance! Look at how aroace they are!
People when a character is aroace or aroace coded: Isn’t it cool that this character is asexual? Asexual icon! They’re such great asexual representation :)
#aro#aromantic#ace#asexual#aroace#alloaro#it feels like there’s this weird mindset of#if a character is aro then they MUST be ace too#and if they’re aroace then the ace part is all that matters!#and of course aplatonicism is never even mentioned as a possibility in fandom spaces (even with characters like Saiki who is apl coded af)#hell. even with real life people who have come out as aromantic#if someone comes out as aromantic they’re assumed to be asexual as well#and if someone is openly aroace it’s very common that people emphasize the ace part over the aro part#and while I get that some people do talk more about their asexuality than their aromanticism#it’s still weird to me that like#for example#Yasmin Benoit is one of the most prolific aromantic activists AND one of the most prolific asexual activists#yet I rarely ever see people mention that she’s aromantic or aroace. Everyone always just says “oh she’s asexual” and leaves it at that#her aromantic activism seems to just get ignored even with how much of it she’s done#when trying to find news sources talking about aromanticism for a research project about half of them were interviews#with Yasmin Benoit! she’s done so much work for the aromantic community#yet even in her Wikipedia article which describes her as an “asexual and aromantic activist” in the very first sentence#the section on her activism doesn’t include the words aromantic or aromanticism even ONCE.#like. yeah she does emphasize her asexuality a lot more than her aromanticism. but her aromantic activism should be acknowledged too

One thing I love about nukani is that they keep finding ways to cameo non-focus characters in the events. The big one is the fact that in every event with 3 SSRs they manage to gather the whole clan in one place, with no exceptions. But even in the other events you get a couple of the others showing up for a scene or two. Garu and Kuya making a surprise visit to the maid cafe. Olivine being the priest that comes to pray with the prisoners, then Yakumo and Blade clinging to Eiden when it's all over. Dante just happening to be there when the spell on the mansion breaks and all the doors start leading to random places. Rei being consulted whenever research is involved, Edmond appearing any time a criminal gets arrested, Quincy showing up whenever something happens in the forest. And that's not to mention Aster and Morvay - they have to find every reason to bring them in because they're never the focus characters.
It's so good because it shows how intertwined their lives are, not just with Eiden but with each other. They're friends, so of course they'll just be around. Doesn't matter if they live together or if they're getting directly involved or whatever, they'll always be present in each other's lives. It's happening more often than it did in the past, too (it's basically every event now!), which shows how much closer everyone has gotten. Whether the focus characters are regaling a story, asking for help or just saying hi, they make a point of including the cameo characters. And I just think that's so neat.
