thinking about how the last earthquake episode wasn’t just disaster spectacle—it was the moment buck and eddie settled into each other.
the episode before is eddie’s introduction. we have buck: still raw (and in denial) about abby leaving, posturing like crazy when eddie comes in. there’s tension. not anger, exactly—more like bruised pride and a gnawing fear of being replaced. buck is all bark. eddie meets him in all this, too, as he always does.
then the grenade. and it’s here that something clicks between them, a new world blossoming—quietly, but unmistakably.
the earthquake episode that follows is where we see this partnership—that trust—in action for the first time. there’s no jockeying for position, no defensiveness. just two men moving like they’ve done this a hundred times before, like something instinctive has already settled between them.
buck isn’t trying to prove anything anymore. eddie isn’t holding back. they’re in sync, and it’s beautiful to see.
and it’s not just stuff to do with the call!! when eddie keeps checking his phone, anxious and distracted, it’s buck who notices. buck who asks—not nosy, just gentle. and eddie, who doesn’t offer personal details to anyone, tells him the truth: he has a son!!! buck doesn’t flinch. he lights up!!! and eddie—eddie who is guarded with everything, who has every reason to keep this close to the chest—shows him a photo!!! eddie is giving buck a piece of himself here, and buck takes it; this is the start of everything, really.
buck is the one reassuring eddie that chris is safest at school and not to worry. buck is the one who drives eddie to chris after the crazy day they had.
they work together seamlessly in this episode. they’re still at the beginning, but this is where the groundwork settles. this is where everything soft and unspoken between them starts to take root more firmly.
and now, we have another earthquake with next week’s episode. another rupture. bobby is gone. eddie’s back. and buck—buck’s breaking in ways we haven’t even seen the full shape of yet.
if the last quake marked the beginning, maybe this one marks the moment everything finally comes to the surface. more of a reckoning; a fault line we can no longer hide from.

Dude it is so interesting to me how different husk and angel are treated by their soul owner.
Also like, Husk has seen how Valentino treats Angel, he’s not only had a first hand experience but he has seen how fucked up angel seems when he gets back to the hotel after work.
But Angel has seen nothing but Alastor occasionally telling Husk what to do. Like he knows that Husk can relate to him and he thinks Alastor is freaky as fuck but he’s never seen to what extend Alastor has control of him.
Which we can’t blame him for obviously cause we didn’t even see how bad it was until episode 5. Alastor does treat Husk like a pet and i’m so curious why he left husk alive after killing almost every overlord he faced??
I really hope we get a scene of angel asking husk to go into more detail about what happened to him or maybe Alastor threatening husk in front of the others and everyone is kinda like “what the shit”
Like look at him. He’s absolutely terrified

Alastor clearly has a firmer hold on Husk then it seems and I feel like it’s gonna prevent husk from keeping up with the others

We finally got the Stolas Works for IMP au…
But at what cost…..
Honestly I usually skipped this trope on AO3 bc it never seemed realistic and it always seemed to change the character’s personality a lil too much - but honestly I fucking LOVE it here. I think the way they made it flow into the story is FLAWLESS and threw me completely off guard. I really, like most people, genuinely believed that this episode would be about Stolas’ divorce court- but no! It was so much better and changed everything in so many ways.
Like I don’t think there’s ever returning from this moment to before- the changes in Blitzo from almost losing Stolas (permanently) without ever speaking his truth, and the terror of Stolas almost losing Blitzo, but ended up losing his daughter instead. IMP almost losing each other- everything about it has severely changed everyone’s characters and the plot line forever- and god am I LOVING IT
I cannot wait to see how they are going to navigate this new roadblock- something that has thrown them all together indefinitely. Will Stolas stay at Blitzo’s permanently? Will Blitzo’s newfound success at IMP hurt their recovery? Will Blitzo even be play with it since it will feel like a betrayal (using Stolas’ sacrifice as a benefit to his company)?
There’s just so much to talk about, I cannot wait to have more time to delve into this episode.

no but ryo paul debut is actually making me care about paul as a character for the first time because holy fuck if a white darry & japanese american paul dynamic is not supremely compelling in terms of 1960s oklahoma race and class tensions

Thoughts on Beastars Final Season Part 1
It has been a long time since I finished the Beastars manga, so going into the final anime season, I was kind of out of the loop about what really happens in these chapters. Sure, I remember the broad strokes, but not the details.
I'm not sure when I noticed just how off the anime felt, but I think it might have been with the Civet and Kopi Luwak stuff.
The anime is almost nothing like the manga. That is not a bad thing, by any means. They're just incredibly different stories and I feel like I am insane because I have not seen a single person talk about this.
The anime is great (so far - I am on EP 11) and I don't think I could've asked for a better animated season. I think that the team has really come together to create something visually beautiful this season.
Story wise? It's incredibly solid! Each of the leads have had equal and fair screentime, and I love the increased importance of Melon in the narrative. However - and this was honestly the first thing that bothered me but I tried to ignore it - the Kines drug plot is such a choice. I like it, in theory. It works really well for the story the anime is trying to tell but I felt like I was losing my mind watching this season. I did not remember the gang wars being about drugs, or even seeing Melon this early in the story.
I thought that 'oh my mind must be awful' because I did not remember Kines at all. Then I look it up, and found nothing at all about it in the manga. I even checked my volumes. Nothing. I really do wonder why they made this choice - or what say Itagaki had in this decision. Again, it's not a bad one, I was just deeply confused as a manga reader.
I think the shortening of the second act of Beastars to one season instead of two was the wrong choice fundamentally because I will always want more Beastars. I think it does the original story a disservice to shorten it like this HOWEVER. I believe that the anime team has come up with a really creative way to fix the manga's pacing problems and to shorten these chapters into one season and I must applaud them.
I will forever mourn that we didn't get to see the rest of Beast Apartments or Gosha and Yahya's reunion but I think the new scenes we got have been great.
RIP Gosha's granddad glasses through.....

You know how Azula is only like 14.
I desperately want a dc x avatar crossover where Jason Todd is like, guess I'm a dad now.
for more then a couple reasons
First of all the character growth. Jason learns not all people who hallucinate are like the joker. Azula learns that how her father treated her is not normal
Azula deserves someone who understands the mommy issues
Girl dad jason
Tell me Jason wouldn't take one look at this girl whose been praised for her talent for destruction and then demonized for it and be like been there done that.
For the sake of teaching Azula to channel the aggression in a semi constructive way.
Also Azula who was dismissed by her mother for being too aggressive and Jason who was dismissed by Bruce for the exact same reason
I firmly believe Azula is redeemable, it's just that no one bothered with the hard work and she was left in the hands of a monster.

i have never really put much time into the foundations of decay; after listening to it on repeat and actually like, paying attention to the lyrics, though, i think i can say that this is the absolute. best song they have ever released
