The shadow jumper (Abyssus souperluminalis), also known as the greater soot sprite or voidstalker, is a small demonoid common to many of the abyssal biomes beneath the Sunken Contintent. Powerful legs as well as its long tail aid it in jumping across large gaps in the relatively lower gravity of the abyss. Its body is covered in a thick, downy double-coat of fur that acts as insulation. Jumpers constantly shed soot-like dander that is both dusty and bitter-smelling, warding off many would-be predators. Jumpers are solitary ambush hunters and often use their club-like tail plume to stung prey.

I keep seeing you emntion CotlG in you Fairyland posts, what is that?
Excellent question! CotIG is short for the Chronicles of the Imaginarium Geographica a fantasy series by James A. Owen. It’s seven books plus a novela thing. They are 1. Here, there be Dragons 2. The Search for the Red Dragon 3. The Indigo King 4. The Shadow Dragons 5. The Dragon’s Apprentice 6. The Dragons of Winter, 7 The First Dragon 8. The Dragon Knight.
I have generally brought it up in the same breath as the Fairyland series for two reasons. 1. It is an absolute favorite of mine along side Valente’s Fairyland, Michelle Paver’s Chronicles of Ancient Darkness, or Sir Terry Pratchett’s Discworld. Neil Gaiman’s Sandman or a number of others. 2. It exudes such a fun vibe…
To actually explain the series. Three Oxford Scholars (John, Jack, and Charles) are put in charge of the Titular Imaginarium Geographica, an Atlas of all the lands found through out myth legend and literature…located in the Archipelago of Dreams…adventure follows. Some great fantasy stuff. A series you have to read in order otherwise you’ll be terribly lost in the later books. Some Timey wimey nonsense starts happening partway through…but it’s got everything. Dragons, Literary references and allusions, humor, excellent themes, some time travel. Talking animals in particular badgers. The Badgers (Tumuller, and later Uncas and Fred) some of the best characters. To tie it to Fairyland there are a couple of characters introduced after the first book that I imagine would get along very well with September were they to ever meet. Which is very possible given the confirmed existence of different worlds and possibility of travel between them. Be it by Wind, Dusenburg, Model A Ford (was it a Model A? Need to reread the Fairyland series soonish), Dragon, Dragon Ship, or some such mode of conveyance. The series was collected in omnibuses a while back under the title Age of Dragons…but for some reason these omnibuses leave out the illustrations (one per chapter) so I would get the individual books for those alone. What else what else…hm…I’d suggest looking up the tag CotIG or Chronicles of the Imaginarium Geographica…but spoilers upon spoilers. Will say there are some amazing artists to be found in a admittedly minuscule fandom. In particular @gayboymint and @souperluminal absolutely amazing and stupendous artists the both of them. All the art they do…spectacular to be sure. Let’s see let’s see….Am I forgetting anything…hmm I think that about sums it up? No wait! To actually sum up, CotIG or the Chronicles of the Imaginarium Geographica is another favorite series alongside the Fairyland series and I highly recommend it. Hopefully this answer was sufficient, if not feel free to ask a clarifying question or some such.

Hello! For your crochet sculptures, where do you get inspiration for their designs from? I love how unique and detailed each one is, and seeing each new piece makes my day :)
Aw, thank you so much! :D I'm glad people enjoy seeing them -- I certainly enjoy making them!
So I certainly pull on a lot of critters and plants for my work, but most of my inspiration for original designs actually starts with the works of other artists.
Sometimes this is literally just making 3D crochet art of the artist's original concept, like Soot by @souperluminal .

Other times a piece of art just leaves a really strong impression and informs the style of the piece I want to make. For Little-Song the Moth Lady, I remember A moon worship ritual by @redslug being the main inspiration (though I really adore all the assorted moth art by them!).

And sometimes a piece of art will give me an initial idea, but the final products ends in a wildly different place. ✦ the moon ✦ by @kipine-art kicked off Hummus the Silver-Lily Moonwalker, and this sweet cat-manta by yogin was the seed for Ferbert!

Hope that answers your question!

Inspired by @souperluminal and their rock, paper, scissors wizards (and the duct tape wizard as well). I really liked the designs. They are ADORABLE! But the world could always use more tiny wizard gremlins, and so I decided to make a little one of my own. :)
(Really hope that's not an issue. ^^; )
Anyway, here’s the spark wizard. Overall a good person. Only thinking about arson like 5-6 times a day.
