My four or five year old self: Isn’t this kind of fun? You know, cuz all I have are female barbies and some prince outfits—and the prince outfits fit the barbies I have. Like…could you imagine if I put them into their little prince outfits and them made them kiss the female presenting barbies? And then I hosted a wedding for them? Could you imagine!?
My queer ass now: “That’s called foreshadowing.”

Whenever I listen to a song, a few lines tend to stand out to me, and Hala CG's "Gambler" was no exception, with those lines being: "But they don't see the hand clutching on for dear life. They don't see the man as he tries, and he tries to stand tall." — with those lines being a brief yet concise summarization of how we view characters and the people around us.
Example, number one example, is the man of the song himself, Aventurine. I've already talked about this in detail in this post of mine, which I made a while back, and I highly recommend checking it out if you wish to know more, but I'll summarize it here: The way the majority of people view Aventurine is simply disgusting; they only ever care about who he is gay for or what is in his pants, and while shipping and having your own interpretations about a character is absolutely alright, oversimplifying and forcing one's headcannons compromises the true essence of the character — you might as well create a new character of your own with how many changes you've made to this one as you claim that they are this or that, and more often that not, these unnecessary and unwanted changes disrespect the original intent of the source material. A lot of these people forget, or simply choose to ignore, what Aventurine has gone through and mold him to their headcannons and push those headcannons down people's throats because they despise the fact that not everyone sees Aventurine as a submissive, masochistic, gae man for Dr. Ratio and instead enjoy and learn about a character instead of focusing on who's gae for whom and who's not. They despise the fact that people see and admire Aventurine for his resilience, his perseverance, his bravery, his intelligence, his thought process, and his strategy — they acknowledge and admire all that and more, and it is such a shame that too many people don't.
But Miss Poet, I hear you say, if you've already talked about this, then why bring it back again? Can't you just let it go? It's done! Well, Rat Urine is back just in a different outfit → Phaidei.
Again, I will restate it just in case you missed it: Shipping, having headcannons, and having your own interpretations about a character is absolutely alright so long as it doesn't compromise the true essence of a character.
But me, personally, I dislike the notion of shipping in HSR mainly because I believe romance could potentially kill or somewhat lessen the impact of their main story theme of trailblazing. This group of people is made up of the lost, the broken, and the hurt, yet even as they wander amongst the stars, they're never alone because they have the people that they have formed bonds with along the way, and more people to encounter in the future. HSR's journey is that—a journey, one that is symbolic of real life, funnily enough. Because in real life, we love (or at least are supposed to). We love and we uphold hope and we create relationships with that love and hope, relationships that aren't inherently romantic. In fact, I'm quite proud of Hoyo for giving Mydei and Phainon such a deep and emotional bond because what I personally see in media usually involves strong female friendships rather than male ones, and I believe we need more of this kind of friendship and brotherhood as well.
And I believe THAT is what's heartwarming about Amphoreus' story — this group of people is brought together by loss and pain and war and death, and all of that made them appreciate the bond and camaraderie present within their little group. They understand that they will reach their doom soon, sooner than they might think, even. But even then, they still took the time to bond and grow closer to each other instead of shutting everyone out because, at the end of the day, they only have each other, don't they? They only have each other to rely on, and they're the only hope Amphoreus has left. If they crumble and fall apart, what will be of Amphoreus? They are the soldiers sent to the frontlines to protect the innocent and secure even the slightest bit of hope that there will be a future for everyone else, even if they won't be there to see it. In fact, speaking of soldiers, they often form exceptionally close bonds due to the unique and intense circumstances they share. The combination of high-stakes missions, reliance on one another for survival, and extended time together in challenging environments fosters deep trust and camaraderie. Shared experiences—like training, combat, or long deployments—create a sense of brotherhood or sisterhood that can surpass typical friendships. However, the strength of these bonds varies based on individual personalities, unit dynamics, and the intensity of shared experiences. Some soldiers may not form close friendships due to personal differences or shorter service periods, but for many, these relationships become profound and enduring.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Take this post however you want to, call me names, slurs, throw insults my way, but I simply wish to provide another perspective and to bring something new to the table because when I see Mydei and Phainon together, I don't wonder about who is top or who is bottom, I don't wonder about what positions they prefer or what places they enjoy doing it. Because when I see Phainon and Mydei, I see the bond eloquently described by the lovely people in the pictures on top, I see the bond I wish to grow and nurture with my own best friend too.
And no, I'm not criticizing anyone for liking this ship, I'm not acting nor do I see myself as someone above the rest of you, but I simply wish the fandom wasn't so quick to label them as gay or have their entire character be oversimplified as someone's gae submissive malewife or someone's dominant daddy... HSR has such an emotional and nuanced storytelling, one that talks about these kinds of relationships so well, and I just wish the fandom could appreciate it as it is, rather than twist it into something that it is not.
Because, yes, a lot of people here don't see the hand clutching on for dear life. They don't see the man as he tries, and he tries to stand tall.

I hope you don't mind if I ask, and if you do feel free to delete this ask! I saw on your bio that you added former incel, and well let's just say that I know very many interesting people that I unfortunately can't just cut contact from. I was wondering what changed your perspective on things, and how, you would say, I can change others perspectives?
if that's too personal, don't worry about answering :) hope you have a great day nonetheless! (and if you do answer, thank you very much :) )
I became an incel because I grew up as an undiagnosed autistic, so I had struggles that no one understood. Since I didn't understand the source of the struggles, it was very easy to believe that my struggles were from being male and that women were the problem. I trusted pickup artists, which was very easy to do because they were the only ones who treated socializing like a science instead of giving oversimplified advice like "talk to people" or assuming that fear and lack of confidence is the only problem. Pickup artists promote anger toward women by making it seem like women are intentionally condemning men to a life of loneliness in order to feed their massive egos.
If you're hoping to prevent others from being incel, the solution is to directly refute the reason why he became incel in the first place. He likely has a legitimate source of his struggles that he's completely justified in being angry about and that propaganda convinced him to blame on women. Many bigots and abusers in general are people with legitimate anger who are misdirecting it. If you find that source, you can help him direct his anger to where it belongs.
Especially if he's autistic, he likely has struggled to explain things for his whole life. Make sure you understand what he's saying before you give advice. If you jump to conclusions and give advice without understanding what's actually happening, you'll only further remind him that no one understands him.
Since he had limited interaction with people and since he was frequently misunderstood, he likely started trusting an unreliable source of information. Maybe he listens to pickup artists. Maybe he copies what he sees others doing and misses important details. Maybe he copies what he saw on TV without realizing that many patterns on TV are caricatures. If this happens, the solution is to directly refute the source. It's not as simple as "don't listen to them". He needs to know exactly what parts they're wrong about.
Your safety comes first, so if you feel like you must coddle him in order to prevent him from lashing out at you, that is okay. But you won't be doing him a service by doing that. What he needs is an accurate understanding, and coddling him would only throw that off. It's okay to aggressively confront him if he's saying or doing something wrong. But make sure it's clear exactly what parts he's doing wrong, and make sure he's not just accidentally misphrasing something.
Also, accept that you may not be able to change his mind. This is especially true if he's well into adulthood, since that would mean he's had more of a choice in who he is. I was an incel as a teenager. Also, while many incels are autistic, not all are.
I used he/him pronouns because of personal experience and because men are much more likely to be targeted with the same propaganda. If you wish to explain these things to women, it would probably be better to seek advice from women.

Greek Mythology ≠ Fanfiction
For starters i will repeat that creativity in literature and inspiration from the ancient myths is totally fine and i support it! What i will mention is the damage society has done by repeatedly and unintentionally not respecting the source material ,or the importance of cultural heritage the myths have for a country.
Some supposedly "harmless" comments i always come across when a Greek or anyone in general dares to criticise the retellings:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
That's the tip of the iceberg, because oftentimes that results ,worst case scenario, in harsh criticism and even cyber bullying for no reason.
It’s honestly frustrating to see Greek mythology reduced to comparisons like “Technically, all Greek mythology books are fanfics.” I get the humor, but comments like this oversimplify something deeply cultural and significant. Greek myths were never just “stories for fun”—they were a way of life. They were sacred tales created to make sense of the world: the seasons, the elements, morality, laws, ethics, and even human suffering. Myths reflected the collective consciousness of entire societies.
It’s disheartening to see corporations exploit this misunderstanding, pushing out lazy retellings that slap popular terms like “Hades” or “Aphrodite” onto cheap, unresearched works just to sell books. These stories weren't written to cater to trends—they carried cultural weight, values, and meaning. And no, this isn't gatekeeping mythology; it's about respecting its roots, especially for those of us who come from the very culture these stories were born in.
There’s a fine line between creative interpretation and shallow, profit-driven marketing. By treating these retellings like disposable fanfiction, it reinforces that line being crossed over and over again. Greek mythology deserves better than that—respect its origins and the people who still see it as part of their heritage.

My dear lgbt+ kids,
Can you have a healthy relationship with a narcissist?
Well, if you trust many social media posts, then the answer would be a resounding "No". Narcissistic is - apparently - a synonym for abusive, and of course you can't have a healthy relationship with an abusive partner!
But, well, social media is not always right. A lot of topics get oversimplified, terms get misused and black-or-white thinking is rampant - and "narcissistic means abusive" falls into all three of those pits.
Let's look at it a bit closer: "Abusive" describes a set of behaviors - while narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) describes, well, a personality disorder. It's a mental health condition.
I am not a trained mental health professional, so I'll use a medical source here. According to mayoclinic.org (link to article), symptoms and their intensity may vary from one affected person to the next (just like the exact symptoms and severity of depression or anxiety may vary!). A person with NPD may
have an unreasonably high sense of their own importance
have an excessive need for attention and admiration
have low/no empathy (struggle to understand or care about the feelings of others)
have low self-worth
be easily upset by criticism
struggle with social interactions
have difficulty managing their emotions
experience major problems dealing with stress
And, again just like with other mental health conditions, NPD can negatively affect the person in a lot of areas of life. For example, struggling to manage their emotions and stress levels may make it hard for them to hold down a job and cause financial worries, or they may avoid participating in social events, which may lead to them becoming isolated and depressed etc. And yes, of course some symptoms may also lead to problems in romantic relationships.
Therapy for NPD usually centers around talk therapy, with the goal of helping the person to better understand and manage their emotions, to learn how to cope with self-worth issues, and to create/maintain healthy fulfilling relationships and communication with the people around them.
Now, you can look at all this and go "See? The social media posts are right! They are self-centered, have no empathy and are easily upset! That's abusive!" - but that'd be jumping to conclusions. None of those things are behaviors.
An autistic person may also easily get upset and they may also feel low empathy. So could a person with major depression. Yet, we do not treat "autistic" or "depressed" as a synonym for abusive. We do not assume that their symptoms will definitely lead to abusive behavior. So, why would that be different for people with NPD?
Am I saying no person with NPD has ever been abusive? Of course not. That'd be black-or-white thinking, too. What I am saying is: People with NPD are people. And people can show abusive behavior or they can not.
If someone who easily feels upset hits you, that's abuse... but hitting would be abuse, even if they didn't feel easily upset. A partner with or without NPD shouldn't be hitting you. If someone with no empathy degrades and insults you, that's abusive... but that would be abuse regardless of their ability to feel empathy. A partner with or without NPD shouldn't be degrading and insulting you.
A person could have NPD and behave abusive - but "some people are X and Y, so all people who are X must be Y" is a flawed logic.
So, let's circle back to the beginning: can you have a healthy relationship with a narcissist? Yeah. It will be a relationship with someone who has a mental health condition and that's something to be aware of because mental health conditions do affect everyday life (duh?).
You should set boundaries and take warning signs of abuse seriously - like you should do when you date anyone, regardless of health status.
With all my love,
Your Tumblr Dad

What can I say? The worst-case scenario just became reality.
The casting for the new Golden Trio has been officially confirmed. And surprisingly — it looks promising. But for fans of Severus Snape, the biggest disappointment has also arrived.
His entire character arc — rich with internal conflict, trauma, and redemption — has now been flattened into a single issue: race. Suddenly, James Potter is painted as a racist. Which then makes Harry racist. And now, anyone who disagrees with this casting choice is also labeled a racist.
This oversimplifies everything. It strips away the complexity that made Snape one of the most morally layered characters in the series.
This could’ve been a fresh take — a reboot that respects the source while giving us something new. And to be fair, much of the cast does reflect the canon in one way or another. But for Snape… this feels like a rewriting, not a reimagining.
I just can’t pretend this isn’t deeply disappointing.

The Cast and Crew Don’t Deserve Your Hate
I know many of us feel hurt and betrayed by NATLA. I know this. I feel the same.
Please stop cursing Albert Kim and the production crew. The fact is, he inherited a huge mess that was already behind schedule. Studios nowadays want the fastest turn around possible and are willing to pour money into projects.
But not time.
I’ve said it before, but LOTR is the absolute gold standard for production. They took years of pre-production time to hand craft their costumes and props and wigs. They hired artisans to hand make tunics and chainmail by hand. They sourced and layered real human hair for their hair pieces. It was incredible.
GOT also attempted something similar though not nearly at the same scale.
That’s why both of these productions have such fantastic and realistic feeling costumes, wigs, and props.
Modern studios just want fast turn around. They’ll pour in money but they want it fast. That’s why the modern takes on LOTR and GOT (ROP and HOTD) look like mediocre cosplay by comparison. The stylists are doing their best, but there’s only so much you can do with so little time.
That’s exactly what’s happened here. You can tell in how awful all the wigs and beards look, even compared to the Shyamalan film of all things! It’s why you can see machine stitching and the fabrics aren’t thick enough to pass for animal pelts. It’s why Iroh’s beard looks like it’s going to fall off, and Yue’s hair looks like a Lego piece, and Azula’s bangs are visibly attached extensions of a completely different sort from the rest of the synthetic wig. It’s why Zuko’s scar looks like a birthmark and not a burn.
It’s why the bending, despite having impressive animation, doesn’t line up well with the actors’ movements and feels pasted on. Almost as if the artists and fight choreographers didn’t get to communicate and plan together.
It’s why the scripts are a poorly juggled mish mash of plots, with threads left to hang in the wind while others are so oversimplified that it feels like a playschool version of ATLA rather then the “adult” version it’s supposed to be.
And it’s why the the Chinese writing is grammatically a mess like they just ran it through Google translate.
I have nothing but respect for Albert Kim and the cast and crew that worked tirelessly to bring this disaster to life under these conditions.
I worry about the poor crew being put through some awful crunch time for this show…
Yes it’s bad. But it’s not only bad as a piece of media. It’s bad as an indicator of what studios prioritize now, and it’s neither audiences nor their own staff.

[ design notes ]
Alright so that took a bit longer bcs I wanted Ace to be ready as well, just so I could link his and Deuce's designs in a few aspects, and I'll talk about this in more detail later, for sir Ass Trampoline's future entry.
I know in that picture I said there was way too much free space on reference pics, but I'm just realizing I should have included one of Frankie bcs obviously they were a huge inspiration for Deuce's design as well 😭 both from G1 and G3. I initially chose the Frankenstein monster for him just for the fact that he's good with machines n stuff in canon, but later I realized the og story of Frankenstein had a lot to do with conflict between the creator and the creation, that if I squint it I can see the similarities between that and Deuce's character arc to change + his rocky relationship to his family, idk, can't really oversimplify the book's story but. I thought the themes could be very loosely connected 🧍 (?)
I should also add that the highlights on his hair match his mom's, that's cute. ALSO also his rings designs/placements don't really matter, I think he'd just wear whatever rings he finds without much preference.
For his AU personality and traits, well, he's just Deuce. Straightforward, diligent, at times naive, and clumsy Deuce. Story and background pretty much remains the same too, why not!
Sorry I didn't have much to say here, most of the notes I work on I write while in class or in the car (not the best places for concentration imo), bcs I'm not having much free time to stay still lately 😭 I'm hoping I didn't leave much of my hcs behind though!
