Irratino, in Logico’s bed: Morning... how’d ya sleep last night?
Logico, knocking Irratino off: WHAT THE HELL?!
Irratino: Ow-
Logico: What were you doing in my bed? You were supposed to sleep on the air mattress on the floor!
Irratino: I had a nightmare.
Logico: You had a nightmare? What are you, five years old?
Irratino: Listen, I needed to feel comfortable and I was getting this perverse power dynamic vibe from me sleeping on the floor and you sleeping up there-
Logico, in a royal accent: Why yes, how high and mighty I am up on my twin XL!
Irratino: That is not what I meant-
Logico: Silence in the presence of your king, who sleeps a lofty twelve and a half inches above the ground!
Irratino: Listen, I’m not ashamed. I slept comfortably when I got up on your bed and I’m sure you did too.
Logico: Yeah, okay-
Irratino: You know what? I wanna know. How’d you sleep last night?
Logico: ...That was the best I’ve slept in a while.
Irratino, gasping: The king slept comfortably with a peasant in his bed!
Logico: I did not consent to this-
Irratino, dramatically: But my liege, our love is forbidden!
Logico, on the phone: Hi, is this the front desk? Yeah, there’s a bed bug in my room and he’s six-foot-two, he’s got long hair.
Irratino: Ask them if they have one of those “Do Not Disturb” signs. I’ll put it on the door next time we... do it.
Logico: Okay, I'ma go shower and wash all of the you off of me.
Irratino: Oh, maybe together we could-
Logico: NO.
Irratino: Just to save water-
Logico: No! You don’t even pay for the water!
Irratino: ...Good point.

hey what’s up, i think you’re pretty cool but disagree with you on the whole ai can make art thing. to me, without the purpose from an actual person creating the piece, it’s not art but an image; as all human art has purpose. some driving factor in a work, compared to a program which purely creates the prompt without further intention. i was wondering what your insight on this is? either way, hope you have a great day
well, first of all, does art require 'purpose'? there's this view of art which has very much calcified in "anti-AI" rhetoric, that art is some linear process of communication from one individual to another: an Artist puts some Meaning into a unit of Art, which others can then view to Recieve that Meaning. you can hold this view, but i don't! i'm much more of a stuart hall-head on this, i think that there is no such transfusion of Intent and that rather the 'meaning' of a piece is something that exists only in the interplay between text and reader. reading is an active, interpretative process of decoding, not a passive absorptive one. so i dispute, firstly, that 'purpose' is to begin with a necessary or even imporant element of art.
moreover i think this argument rests on a very arbitrarily selective view of what counts as "an actual person creating the piece" -- 'the prompt' is, itself, an obvious artistic contribution, a place where an artist can impart huge amounts of direction, vision, and so on. in fact, i completely reject the claim of both the technology's salesman and its biggest detractors that genAI "makes art" -- to quote kerry mitchell's fractal art manifesto: "Turn a computer on and leave it alone for an hour. When you come back, no art will have been generated." in the past, i've posed questions about generative art pieces to demonstrate this
secondly, of course, the process does not end after image generation from prompt for serious generative artists--the ones who are serious about the artform (rather than tech guys trying to do marketing for the Magical Art Box) frequently iterate and iterate, generating a range of iterations and then picking one to iterate on further, so on and so forth, until the final image they choose to share is one that contains within it the traces of a thousand discrete choices on behalf of the artist (two pretty good explanations of this from people who actually do this stuff can be found here and here)
third and finally, that very choice to share the image is itself an artistic decision! we (and by we, i mean, anyone who cares about what art is) have been talking about this since fountain -- display is a form of artistic intent, taking something and putting it forward and saying 'this is art' is in and of itself an artistic decision being made even if the thing itself is unaltered: see, for example, the entire discipline of 'found art'. once someone challenged me, yknow, "if you did a google search, would that be art?" and my answer to that is, if you screenshot that google search and share it as art, then yes, resoundingly yes! curation and presentation recontextualizes objects, turning them into rich texts through the simple process of reframing them. so even if you granted that genAI output is inherently random computer noise (i don't, of course) -- i still think that the act of presenting it as art makes it so.
since i assume you're not familiar with anything interesting in the medium, because the most popular stuff made with genAI is pure "lo-fi girl in ghibli style" type slop, let me share some genAI pieces (or genAI-influenced pieces) that i think are powerful and interesting:
the meat gala, rob sheridan (warning: body horror!)
secret horses (does anyone know the original source on this?)
infinite art machine, reachartwork
ethinically ambigaus, james tamagotchi
mcdonalds simpsons porn room, wayneradiotv
software greatman, everything everything (the music is completely made by the band, but genAI was partially responsible for the lyrics -- including the title and the several interesting pseudo-kennings)
i want a love like this music video, everything everything
cocaine is the motor of the modern world, bots of new york
poison the walker, roborosewatermasters (here's my analysis posts on it too)
not all of these were necessarily intended as art: but i think they are rich and fascinating texts when read that way -- they have certainly impacted me as much as any art has.
anyways, whether you agree or not, i hope this gives you some stuff to think about, thanks for sharing your thoughts :)

hihii can i req reader that is like academically smart but is also very naive at the same time?? reader would probably fall for the most obvious clickbait or something feel free to do with any bllk characters (especially sae 💋💋) thank youu but also feel free to ignore this if you don't want it
“𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐢𝐭 𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐦”

a/n: i read rage bait instead of click bait after writing everything, but decided to keep it since it’s still fitting 😭
ft. isagi yoichi, itoshi rin, kaiser michael, itoshi sae, shidou ryusei, nagi seishiro, mikage reo, karasu tabito
isagi yoichi
“you’re literally smarter than me, so why are you fighting with an anime profile picture?”
you’re writing a full essay in the comments under a rage bait post that says “math is fake and only lazy people like numbers.”
“love. they want you to argue. that’s the whole point. it’s bait.”
you, while typing aggressively: “it’s the principle.”
isagi literally has to pry the phone out of your hands.
“they’re trolling. why are you citing academic sources in a thread about flat earth?”
alternates between being impressed and deeply concerned.
“you’re so smart it’s scary. and yet, you just fell for a post that said ‘gravity is a scam made by the big ladder.’”
will still throw slurs under his fake account at anyone that tries to come after you.
itoshi rin
“get off the internet. log off. i’m blocking you from twitter.”
you: reading a post that says “the mitochondria isn’t real.”
also you: seeing red.
he watches you scroll past rage bait like, “no... don't take the bait... dammit.”
“you know better. you literally know better.”
gets mad with you but refuses to engage.
he’s just staring at you spiraling over a troll who said “logic is fake” and muttering, “wtf is wrong with this generation.”
turns off your wifi like a concerned parent.
“you’re not arguing with someone named @cattboysupreme69. go read a book.”
kaiser michael
“you’re falling for rage bait again, huh? i love this dumb little hobby of yours.”
finds it hilarious that you get so fired up over random garbage takes.
literally records you pacing and ranting about how “emotions are valid sources of decision making, actually.”
“schatz, you’re a valedictorian. why are you beefing with someone who said ‘plants don’t have feelings so vegans are evil’?”
fully encourages it for fun.
“no, no, quote them. let’s go viral.”
brags to his teammates like, “my girl’s a genius and also beefing with half of conspiracy tik tok. goals.”
secretly reports every troll you argue with behind the scenes. he’s protective in a petty, passive-aggressive way.
itoshi sae
“this is why i hate people. and also why you shouldn’t be online unsupervised.”
you fell into a rage trap that said “women don’t belong in STEM.”
sae, watching you rage-type a dissertation just said, “block them and move on.”
you: “no. they need to be educated.”
he takes your phone.
“they don’t. they have 12 followers and use comic sans unironically.”
quietly annoyed but impressed that you always come with facts.
lowkey reads your arguments later and thinks, “damn. my girl snapped.”
would absolutely start threatening people if they get too bold with you.
“she might be arguing like it’s a thesis defense, but if any of you make her cry, i’m breaking your nose.”
shidou ryusei
“babe, you’re smart as hell, but you’re also fighting with rage bait like it personally insulted your dog.”
thinks it’s hilarious.
“they said books are just dead trees. you really gonna let that slide?”
you: frothing with rage “i will not let that slide.”
shidou: eating popcorn and hyping you up “go off, professor! educate their ass!”
he will 100% jump in and start trolling with you.
“yo, babe, say something about their spelling. that always pisses ‘em off.”
gives you an award when you get someone to delete their comment.
“queen behavior. love that for you.”
nagi seishiro
“can we not. like ever. please.”
the most done every time you scream: “WHAT DO YOU MEAN THE SUN ISN’T A STAR AND IT’S A PLANET?!”
he just wants to play games, not watch you get into a 14-comment back-and-forth with a dude named @trumpfan420.
“you’re literally a genius. why are you arguing with people who think australia doesn’t exist?”
lies on your lap and sighs dramatically.
“you’re lucky you’re cute when you’re mad.”
secretly proud of how well you school people, though.
once tried to help you argue but got bored after one sentence.
“i told them ‘L’ and left.”
mikage reo
“you’re academically brilliant. and also very online. it’s like watching an intellectual gladiator fight trolls.”
every time he hears “REO. THEY SAID SHAKESPEARE WAS MID.” he already knows what’s happening.
you’re pacing around the house, typing furiously, quoting sonnets and throwing in stats.
“you’re smarter than the entire room but still letting a 14-year-old with a controversial hot take ruin your night.”
he makes tea and sits beside you while you rage.
“need a bibliography link, baby?”
lowkey brags to others: “yeah my girl just flamed a whole subreddit with APA formatting.”
you’re his little chaos genius and he loves it.
“you’re going to be a nobel prize winner and twitter’s most feared debater at the same time.”
karasu tabito
“you’re out here fighting for your life against rage bait and i’m living for it.”
watches you with popcorn like it’s live TV.
“ohhh here they go. someone said philosophy is just overpriced poetry. let’s gooo.”
he fully instigates sometimes.
“babe, someone said gravity isn’t real. thoughts?”
you start ranting, and he just grins like an agent of chaos.
“why are you like this?”
“why are you like this?”
says he’ll block the trolls for you. ends up ratioing them with memes instead.
y’all are the duo that trolls the trolls and then drops a full essay for fun.
if anyone dares say “women can’t argue,” karasu just goes, “you sure about that?” and lets you annihilate them in 5k characters.

Can we get NSFW Two Time and reader headcanons? He's so freaky, I like him 🙏

Two Time x Reader
An: i know you asked for NSFW headcanons, but uh, I felt generous so I included my general headcanons list- both SFW and NSFW. Enjoy ○>○
SFW and NSFW Two Time Headcanons:
(It's kind of a character rant lowk...)
Cw: Angst, mature themes, (eventual) NSFW content, NOT PROOF READ..
SFW (ish):
So, first things first, dating Two Time is extremely chaotic, and if I'm being perfectly honest, probably not the healthiest.
Two Time has very dangerous tendencies, directed at both you and themself, because they're, y'know, kind of insane
I'm VERY aware that there is more to Two Time's character than just insane twink or whatever, trust me, it's very complicated stuff with multiple layers, and I really don't want to get into allat right now, but my point still stands
A relationship with Two Time WILL come with problems!!!
You're going to have to be in charge of making sure they take care of themself. This includes their: hygiene, mental state, and overall health
I also believe that they're not fully over Azure yet, and might never be, so if you're dating them, you're gonna have to deal with that
(Has probably called you Azure at least once before. 50/50 chance that it was at least somewhat intentional.)
Uh... into some lighter stuff...
Two Time definitely runs cold. I say this with like 99% accuracy
They're probably also deficient in some sort of vitamin
(It's probably iron or smt, please make sure they take their gummy vitamins every day 😓)
Oh, and they also don't know how to cook. I'm pretty sure it's canon that, and I quote:
The voices start talking to them when they pick up the knife.
Or something along those lines.
If they do know how to cook, you should not trust them to.
Oh, and Two Time probably hasn't tried that many foods.
I say this because of that one interaction with Elliot, where they mention not really eating Pizza much.
I know it's not a direct confirmation, but like, it's a bit implied, right?
So yes, take them out to dinner and let them try new foods. They will appreciate it. Wine and dine them.
I am a firm believer that Two Time retained a good amount of the random flora trivia that Azure yapped about back when they were dating, and you now bear the burden of listening to Two Time yap about it in the present day
Sometimes will ramble about these facts while holding you close to them and getting ready to go to bed
Two Time doesn't really have a preference for being the big or little spoon, so long as you're touching them in some way.
But if they end up being the little spoon, please run your fingers through their hair. They can't get enough of it <3
Do they get jealous? Probably. At least every once in a while.
They know you know better than to go off and leave them, and most of the time, when they're jealous, it's mainly them getting irritated at the other party
I mean, they aren't exactly secretive about dating you, and they will not hesitate to drop hints towards the other party or just straight up tell them that you are very much taken.
It doesn't really come from a place of insecurity, I think. Probably more or less just because they are possesive
Uh, random headcanon, but I think Two Time listens to Jack Stauber, Penelope Scott, and maybe even ICP.
Do these bands exist in the forsaken universe? Idk, but if they did, Two Time would fw them
(Source: trust me bro)
NSFW:
They definitely have at least some experience.
Two Time and Azure 100% have, at the very least, dabbled in sexual activities before. (Freaks)
Oh yeah and I HC them as AMAB, BTW.
Eight times out of ten, Two Time is the one with the dominant position
I can't exactly explain why, but I know it has something to do with how little control they had over everything back when they were in the cult
Also because they, as I've already stated, are a FREAK.
Gets up to some of the most diabolical, down-bad, goon-worthy shit. (I'm so sorry.)
On the rare occasion that they are the sub, they are the most whiney, desperate, pathetic sub out there.
They need you to touch them, to fuck them until they can't think straight (or maybe even pass out.)
Like it's BAD bro
They probably cry a little, im not gonna lie
Oh yeah and they WILL mention the Spawn while fucking you
(Yes, the [SPAWN] stays on during sex.)
Two Time probably never shuts up during sex :/
Whether that be them saying random things to turn you on or just them moaning into your ear
If you want them to stop talking, you have to shove your fingers into their mouth or fuck them until their overstimulated.
(Overstimulation only works 40% of the time. The other 60% of the time, they just blabber more, only now it's borderline incoherent or nonsensical.)
I feel like Two Time would probably leave some sort of mark on you
It might be an unintentional scratch mark or a hickey, but you're probably not getting out of that unmarked
If you asked them not to, they'd listen, or at least leave the mark somewhere easy to cover up, like on your chest or inner thigh
Also this guy is HORNY. If you don't fuck them enough, they will probably jerk off to you in the bathroom or closet.
They have probably jerked off to the scent of your clothing, too.
Two Time is up for whatever kinks you are
I think some of their biggest kinks are:
Praise/Degradation
Orgasm Denial
Okay. So
I think Two Time definitely enjoys degrading you and being degraded
Its kind of natural for them
Will not hesitate to call you desperate or a slut while pounding into you
BUT
They absolutely love being praised by you
If you ever praise them, telling them how good they're making you feel or how good they're being
Uhg, they will just melt on the spot
Eats that UP
Oh yeah and they like denying your orgasm because of course they do
They like how needy you get
I feel like if they were to ever partake in exhibitionism, it would only be partial
Like somewhere Semi-public. (Ex, open windows, closets, you know the drill.)
I honestly can't see them fully going for it in public.
#lmao guys can you tell that I like Two Time...#yeah I main them#yes they are m4#two time x reader smut#Two Time x reader#smut#Two Time x reader forsaken#Two Time Forsaken#Two Time headcanons#Two Time x you

My dear lgbt+ kids,
“My therapist told me that, according to psychology, girls who often stay up til 3 am for no reason actually show a trauma response. You lacked a loving mother figure in childhood, so you deprive yourself of sleep because you weren’t taught to love yourself.”
I came across that piece of info on social media recently, and I’d like to offer an addition:
My therapist told me that, according to psychology, you can make up random things and pass them off as scientific… if you just put enough meaningless phrases in front of it.
You probably caught the irony here. In fact, “according to psychology” and “my therapist told me” are completely meaningless phrases in my statement here! They make it seem like I’m presenting a scientific fact, but there’s no substance behind them. I’m just telling you my own thought.
I did it on purpose and wanted you to catch it, but it can be more tricky to spot out there in the wild (or, well, on social media) - because intuitively, that quote up there sounds pretty trustworthy, doesn’t it? We are taught to look for a source and it conveniently provides one for us: psychology. Psychology says this, so it’s legit!
But phrases like “according to psychology”, “my therapist says” or even “studies say” may only pose as sources. Let’s look into it a bit closer:
“According to psychology” - Psychology is not really a source that can be quoted like that. Psychology is an immense field of study that covers lots of different areas (biological psychology, neuroscience, social psychology, behavioral psychology etc.), so who or what exactly is being cited here? A specific expert? A specific study? A specific book?
“My therapist said” - in which context? Therapists usually give advice that’s tailored to the patient’s individual situation which likely looks different to yours (since no two people lead the exact same life), so how do you know this specific piece of information is also applicable to your situation (let alone applicable to everyone)?
The next one is especially tricky:
“Studies say” - studies can be a great source, but which study are we talking about? Who did the study? How was it done? How many people participated in it? Are the results generalizable in the way the post claims? (And before all that: is there even any specific study being cited at all here, or is this just a fully meaningless claim?)
While we are on the topic of generalization: obviously I’m not trying to make some blanket statement that everyone who ever uses these phrases is a liar with evil intentions. Sometimes we just use simple phrases for complex concepts to make them more accessible or easily digestible, and that’s fine.
And just as importantly, sometimes we are just human and make some thinking mistakes (such as “this connection my therapist made about MY childhood and MY behavior in adulthood must be applicable to everyone who shows that behavior. Making that connection helped me, so surely I’m helping others by posting about it!”) without any bad intentions.
I’m just encouraging you to critically think about the information you read or share online - even beyond the basic “is there a source” check.
With all my love,
Your Tumblr Dad

what's your process on TLing? like how do you do it? I've always wondered what its like TLing stuff
Disclaimer that it's probably different for everyone, obviously, but for me it usually goes something like this:
(Got long, so under a cut. Minor bonus at the end for My S-Ranks fic writers!)
Get the raws (obviously, LOL).
When I start a TL session, I usually read back a little just to get the context of what's going on, because otherwise you risk getting some of the contextual information wrong.
Time for the actual translating! Read the sentence.
Break it down as best as I can—pick out grammar structure (is XYZ the subject or object etc.), pick out what words I know, cobble together a partial sentence from that. Ends up something like, "Character A {??ed} loudly and lifted their {right? left?} hand."
Look up the words I don't know in the KR-EN dictionary (usually Naver, but also Wiktionary as a backup, both English and Korean) and fill in the blanks. My Korean vocabulary is minuscule so I have to do this for at least one word almost every sentence… I also like to double-check the meanings of some words I'm not fully sure of (see right/left dilemma above 😅), or to see if there's other verified translations that would fit the sentence better if the one I think of doesn't flow well.
Addendum to the above point: If there's a word that doesn't really fit the scene or means some random off-the-wall thing, go on a research spree to figure out why it's showing up here. If this takes longer than 5 minutes, put a pin in it to come back to later and move on; otherwise I risk getting distracted or burning all my energy on research instead of translation, and sometimes the next few lines help me figure out what was being said anyway. Generally I mark these with the {???} from the example above, with a note on what confused me about the bit in question. (These are usually the things that require footnotes!)
If I completed the sentence, read over it to check that it actually makes sense. Sometimes it doesn't and I have to go back over grammar to redo it. Subject/object/topic markers my beloathed
Then once the meaning of the sentence is worked out, check that it flows with the rest of the scene. (If it doesn't, 70% chance it's a quote or reference to something, in which case, again, research or put a pin in it for later.)
Rinse and repeat until the end of the chapter.
First pass complete! 🎉
Go back and do all that research I saved for later :( (Chiyul is niceys to me and only uses odd or flowery wording that I can work out given enough time, but Geunseo is so mean about this. Stop referencing poets from the Tang dynasty who don't have easily accessible online translations for their works. What the hell) (Sometimes they'll reference something obscure and then make an oblique reference to THAT reference instead of the source material because they loooove having characters use injokes which I do love. But it is also majorly harshing my groove. Please have mercy)
Read over the chapter again, Korean then English, paragraph by paragraph, to make sure the translations actually line up and I didn't mess anything up during the first pass. Also for English editing purposes—grammar, punctuation etc. So combination quality-checking and editing.
Pass the baton to other team members for a second round of combination QC/edits; sometimes gets skipped, it depends
Clean the chapter (i.e. deleting all the Korean and running some final checks via regexes for miscapitalizations and the like)
Pick a good excerpt, tag all featured characters, and post! Aaand back to the grind for the next chapter. (…Bit of a simplification. What I actually do is just keep translating until I run out of energy/thinking power for the day. Chapters get cleaned and prepped for posting in batches of 10 only when the last batch have all been posted; e.g. we're on 390-something for S-Ranks right now, so when I'm about to post chapter 400, I'll edit and clean 401–410, and so on.)
Some more notes I wasn't sure where to fit in, below.
Besides quotes/references to external media and language/culture quirks, I also sometimes add footnotes when characters quote other characters from chapters that were posted quite a while ago. This is in part because it's probably helpful to readers but largely because it's helpful to me specifically (I have a terrible memory 😔) (if I don't do it then when I'm rereading the chapter for editing/cleaning I always end up going "they literally didn't say that though…? Is that a mistranslation?" and then it turns out they did say that but it was more than a chapter ago so I forgot. Sighs.)
Disclaimer that I don't translate from MTL anymore!! Quality is worse than translating by hand!! But sometimes if a chapter is really confusing then I'll slap the whole thing into Google Translate so I have an English version I can skim for the context. It's helpful because Google Translate gives extremely bad TLs in terms of English readability so I don't adopt its phrasing into my own TL, but it also gets juuuust enough right that I can identify what the gist of events is. Like if a chapter cold opens on a fight scene and only five paragraphs later clarifies the location of said fight, then the rough MTL lets me know whether I should be translating something as a wall (indoor fight) or barrier (dungeon fight), for example. Also helpful for pronouns, since Korean doesn't use those the way English does; if the character isn't named right off the bat, I don't want to be writing every sentence like "[PRONOUN] looked at [PRONOUN]self in the mirror, noting the dark circles under [PRONOUN] eyes", then have to go back to fill in the blanks 5 minutes later, you know?
I also make style guides for every story I'm translating, which I refer back to while working so I can keep the translations consistent. Whenever we're in a new setting or something gets brought up for the first time, I add it to the style guide for future reference. There's a lot of stuff in the guides that's probably only mentioned a few times, but at least I don't have to translate from scratch each of those few times!
The general style guide has stuff like number/unit formats, honorifics, and notes on spellings I mix up often (I try to use American English for consistency, although personally I prefer a combination of American/Commonwealth spellings (USA you are just wrong about worshiped, it's worshipped!! Do you say shiped?? Huh????)).
The story-specific style guides let me keep track of special names—places, characters, and more—but also things like system message formats. For My S-Ranks, I also have separate sections for the regions with lots of unique terminology (the VR dungeon and China so far, more to come).
Below are some examples from the general style guide and the S-Ranks-specific one.
Oh, one part of the style guide might also be helpful to any S-Ranks fic writers out there—here's the special characters I've been using for system admin messages such as "η๐┰ ሃ๐∪ዩ բმ∪┗┰" from chapter 53. (No replacements for B, J, K, M, Q, V, X, and Z because those haven't been needed so far. Added those in anyway for future-proofing!)
A: მ
B: ß
C: င
D: Ð
E: ∈
F: բ
G: ₲
H: ዞ
I: 𝔦
J: ຽ
K: ƙ
L: ┗
M: ៣
N: η
O: ๐
P: የ
Q: ዊ
R: ዩ
S: ડ
T: ┰
U: ∪
W: ₩
X: ㄨ
Y: ሃ
Z: ☡
Anyway! Hope that sheds some light on the translation process, at least the way I do it. Let me know if you have any more questions or requests! This was fun.

what i dont get is why ppl worship hellenic gods when like. all of them have done horrible things minus like, ares maybe. anyway
"One day Nicaea, thirsty, drunk from a sweet spring, not knowing Dionysus had previously filled it with wine, and was instantly intoxicated. Seeing double, Nicaea lay down to rest. Eros then pointed her whereabouts to Dionysus, who proceeded to rape the unconscious nymph. When she woke up and realised what had happened, she was distraught; crying, she contemplated suicide, and sought Dionysus out, wishing to harm him, but she never found him." (summary of Dionysiaca)
"One day, Aura goes hunting with Artemis. For relief from the midday heat, the hunting party stops for a swim. Aura then teases Artemis, saying that her breasts were better than Artemis's, since hers were small and round like a man's, while Artemis's were large and voluptuous like a woman's, and so belied Artemis' supposed "unviolated maidenhood". Deeply offended, the angry Artemis goes to Nemesis, the goddess of divine retribution, who arranges for Aura to be punished by losing her virginity. Dionysus is then made mad with desire for Aura, by an arrow from the bow of Eros on Nemesis's orders. But knowing that he will never be able to seduce the obdurately virginal Aura, Dionysus drugs Aura with wine, ties her up, and rapes her while she is unconscious and unmoving." (also Dionysiaca)
Nonny, there is a lot that I don't know that I can adequately explain is wrong with your argument here.
Firstly, you are holding gods from a culture over 2,000 years old to modern standards, and in that culture, things that are abhorrent today were either considered normal or were just not as heavily frowned upon. Secondly, you are pulling your sources from Nonnus, who is kind of controversial with the HelPol community (don't @ me, guys; this is just what I've seen) with some people believing he should be viewed more as "Dionysus fanfiction" (actually words that I've heard). Even if we didn't view him controversially, you are literally sourcing ONE thing and making the assumption that my entire worship of Dionysus is based upon that ONE thing, which brings me to my third point. Thirdly, the person who wrote this was just a man. He wasn't Dionysus. There is a thing in Hellenic Polytheism - and worship in general - where people don't really believe in "mythic literalism". You are assuming that I worship Dionysus 1. based solely on Nonnus' writings alone and 2. in a mythically literal sense. You're likely coming from a Christianized culture, if you have the viewpoint of Mythology=Bible=Literal, and that's just not how we do things around here. This is not a Christian religion from a Christian culture; there is no Bible, and the mythology certainly isn't a Bible, in and of itself.
I apologize if I'm coming across as hostile, but you're literally accusing a god I worship of being a "serial rapist", then assuming that I base my worship off of the mythology of Nonnus, then assuming that my worship is myth literal, THEN assuming that the gods can't be separate from the mythology, that was often written and recorded by misogynistic men who lived in a time period where forcing prisoners of war into slavery and marriage was acceptable. You're making a lot of assumptions here, Nonny, and I highly suggest that you don't come at things you don't understand with such an immediately hostile outlook. That is like approaching anyone of any other religion, quoting a verse from some sacred text (except in HelPol - the religion I'm a part of - we don't have much of a sacred text, really), and telling them that their god is abhorrent because of ancient texts written by random guys thousands of years ago. You don't know the god; you know the written stories of him. You come across like you're trying to cancel a god that's from a culture that's thousands of years old. That's weird. Stop doing that.
#anon asks#answered asks#have you considered that maybe to us myths are mostly just stories#valuable stories that depict the culture itself but not stories that act as a Bible#we don't have a Bible; we don't view our gods in this sort of context

Things that helped me believe in shifting other than my own personal experiences...
This will be a loooong post so grab a snack for this one.
Shifting tattoos- the fact that so many people have gotten the shifting symbol permanently tattooed on their bodies despite how ridiculed the shifting community is. Tattoos are expensive and painful and to get them removed or covered up is even more expensive and even more painful. People get the shifting symbol tattooed onto their bodies knowing people will probably ask about it. They would not put themselves through that if shifting wasn't real.
The gateway process aka the cia documents- no, this document is not about shifting. However, the topics in the gateway process can certainly be tied to shifting realities and the fact that the cia even explored this shows that it's not a crazy concept. Of course the cia is not exactly a great source or a group to look up to as they are a terrible unethical organization, I think we can still appreciate the fact that there's a whole long document about the power of human consciousness. "It may not be the brain which creates consciousness, but rather the consciousness that creates the appearance of the brain" -a direct quote from the gateway process.
Old experiences- the fact that shifting has been documented long before 2020. Long before the internet even existed, actually. It just wasn't called shifting back then. That's a relatively new term, but the practice has always been around. Neville Goddard was sharing his experiences way back in the 50s/60s. The idea of exploring other worlds is also something that has been touched on in Hinduism and Buddhism and I believe some native tribes.
The ganzfeld experiment- again, not shifting related. Just really fucking cool. I recommend looking into it but to simplify it, it was an experiment testing for telepathic communication. Essentially, one person would be in a room with ping pong balls over their eyes in a red lit room and white noise played over headphones to block out external stimuli, while another person would be in another isolated room looking at different images. The receiver would have to describe the images. Approximately 835 ganzfeld sessions were conducted through 28 studies and they achieved telepathy 38% of the time. While that seems low, it is statistically a huge deal because in order for it to be "chance" it would have to be 25% or lower. The fact that our brains are capable of that makes it difficult to believe shifting isn't real and that's where the line draws.
Lady wonder, the psychic horse- I know that sounds fucking insane and once again is not shifting related. But lady wonder was a horse from the 20th century that was super smart and could spell things out. Not so crazy, right? WRONG. People started believing she was psychic because of how smart she was so they would ask her questions or even had her help solve crimes and she had a super high success rate. They even ran a test where they had scientists try to debunk it by having one person in another room write stuff on a notepad and lady wonder was in a separate room and spelled out everything they wrote down. She even helped find a little boys body that was missing. I'm sorry but if we live in a world with psychic horses, I'm going to believe I can shift to be with my crushes.
Communication through dreams- Researchers at REMspace have been studying lucid dreaming for a long time now and last year in September of 2024, they were able to successfully have two participants communicate to each other through a lucid dream for the first time. They tracked their brainwaves and when person a was in a lucid dream, they generated a random word to him through his earbuds. When person b became lucid, she was able to also receive that message and repeated that random word when she woke up, confirming successful communication through the lucid dream. If someone tried to suggest communicating through dreams five years ago, people would've scoffed at it the same way they do with shifting. This is a very recent discovery that shows what our brains are capable of and communicating through dreams doesn't sound much crazier than being able to shift our awareness to different versions of ourselves.
What we know now vs what we knew in the past- it feels very, very silly to act like everything we know now is all there is to know. Yeah, there haven't been really any studies into shifting realities. All we have are theories and people's shared experiences. But it's difficult to prove something that's not physical. We're still studying dreams and what they mean and how they work and we're still learning about the human consciousness. We may know a lot now, but we certainly don't know everything. Think about what we knew 50 years ago vs what we know now. We've learned a lot over the years. Now think about what we know now vs what we'll know in 50 years. It feels like we know a lot because we don't know what we don't know. But truthfully, in the grand scheme of things, we really don't know a lot. We're still learning new things about our universe and this planet every day.
People still sharing things about shifting today- if it was just a trend, it would have passed by now. It would have passed before 2020 even ended. The internet is horrible about keeping trends alive. Remember that fake TikTok movie thing that became a joke and people would make up lore and stuff about? It lasted like two weeks because people can't keep up with things like that. Trends and inside jokes do not last on the internet. But it's still going strong because it's not just a trend. It's real. Which leads me to my next point
The people that said they were lying- I know this is going to be a strange and unpopular opinion, but honestly, the fact that a small handful of people have come out as lying is very motivating to me. Hear me out. I used to have the mindset of like "oh no these people are lying is it all fake after all???" But in actuality, the fact that there has been a handful of people that have said they were lying and it wasn't real and even a couple that went super viral and yet people are still standing strong tells me no, it's not fake. They just didn't try hard enough and gave up. There have been so many opportunities for people to be like "ok yeah it was fake and I lied" but they haven't. If it was just an inside joke it so easily could've wrapped up by now. When TikTok was getting banned in January, so many shifttokers who knew they were losing their platform and had no reason to lie anymore still stood by the fact that it is real. Although I am not trying to give any credit to those antis that came out as liars because they suck and are horribly disrespectful and give shifters a bad look, it's still motivating knowing despite the liars, we're still standing strong.
People shifting without knowing they shifted- I've heard so many stories before shifting even became popular of people having these experiences. I remember a Reddit story that went viral years ago of a person who got injured or something and ended up living like an entire life with a wife and family and thought it was real until they noticed something was off and then they came back and all of that was gone. There are a bunch of stories of people having near death experiences and they see themselves die but end up being okay in actuality and they believe they shifted timelines. I heard a story someone shared completely unrelated to shifting where they were at a ski resort and somehow got separated from everyone and suddenly there was nothing there. Only snow and trees. No people, no resort. She was gone for hours and eventually saw this bright light and followed it to a subway and eventually made her way back to everyone but to them, she wasn't gone long at all. She said everything felt off and when she got home things were still feeling off like stuff in her room was in different places. She believes she shifted timelines and I believe her, especially because she didn't even frame it as a reality shifting experience.
The diversity in the shifting community- the fact that there are hundreds of thousands of us in the shifting community and we're all different. There are people of different ages, races, nationalities, gender, sexualities, different religious backgrounds, etc. There are people that have been shifting long before shifting blew up. There are people that have shifted that don't even post about it. We're all so different. Idk that just makes it more real to me.
The universe as a whole- the fact that we exist on this planet right now and that we are such a tiny spec in the universe is insane. The universe is constantly expanding and we will literally never be able to explore all of it. We have no idea what all is out there. What is the universe expanding into? How is it expanding? What existed before it? Obviously we know we're here because of the Big Bang but how did that even happen and align the way it did? Like of course I know science and stuff and I understand the theories, but it's just the fact that everything aligned the way it did. The universe is so massive we'll never be able to comprehend it. We came from tiny little atoms and evolved into human beings. I feel like we don't appreciate how insane that is enough. Energy can't be created or destroyed so we're all literally made of the universe. Oh, but shifting is so insane? Sorry, the existence of the universe and the fact that we even exist the way we do and somehow turned a planet made of dirt and rocks and water into what it is now with skyscrapers and airplanes and Bluetooth makes me believe we're capable of a lot more. Also the fact that it's proven that the fabric of space and time can bend..... right.
Tarot reading- another thing that is completely unrelated to shifting. It's more so the fact that tarot has existed for hundreds of years, since the 15th century, and is a pretty well respected practice. Of course there are scammers out there that give tarot reading a bad reputation, but it's been around so long and is amazing when done right. The fact that a deck of cards can be used as a tool to answer questions and look into the future. I have a friend who doesn't believe in tarot or really anything sort of "witchy" or anything like that. But he and his friends had tarot readings just for fun and he was so shocked and confused when the things the tarot reader said all started coming true. Like it truly shocked him. How is that more believable than just becoming aware of another version of ourselves? Like we already have all these capabilities within ourselves so why is shifting crossing the line?
Witchcraft and manifesting- kind of tying into the first point, witchcraft and manifestation are things that have been around for centuries. And even today, while shifting is something that is ridiculed, people are more open minded toward witchcraft and manifestation. There's still a lot of people that don't believe and think it's ridiculous, but there's also a lot of people that do believe even if they don't believe in shifting. And what is shifting if not just a more advanced version of manifestation? Yet so many people think shifting is ridiculous and made up because people are choosing to go to hogwarts while they still spend their time manifesting their desires. It's two sides of the same coin, babes.
This picture-

ALL OF THOSE ARE GALAXIES WE'LL NEVER EXPLORE!!!! And you wanna tell me it's crazy to think there's other realities out there???
Shiftblr- of course like many of us, I discovered shifting through shifttok right at the very, very beginning of it. I know many people hate shifttok, but it will always hold a special place in my heart. Despite that, the existence of shiftblr has solidified my beliefs way more than shifttok. You don't get clout or fame or money posting about shifting on tumblr. You don't gain anything posting on here. Yet the fact that thousands of people do, and most of them don't even get much attention from it at all tells me people are doing it for themselves. Because they believe. Because they've experienced it. And while I don't think people on tiktok are all liars and I don't think they're all trying to get clout because they also have to deal with horrible antis harassing them, there's also more of a possibility of people just trying to get attention or money. Again, I still enjoy shifttok, but tumblr feels more authentic. On tumblr, you don't even get to see how many followers people have.
Honestly, there's more I could get into but I have yapped long enough. This isn't even including my own personal experiences. I could ramble on about shifting and all the ties there are to it for so long but I think I hit the main points I wanted to get into. There's just one last thing I want to say before I wrap this up. If shifting didn't get popular from people going to hogwarts or the mcu or these "fictional" places that we perceive as fictional because they're just tv shows/movies/books in this reality, more people would believe in it. If it got popular because of more mundane things such as visiting a deceased family member or going on a dream vacation or reliving childhood memories, more people would be on board with shifting. But instead, they saw teenage girls talking about going to hogwarts and scoffed and rolled their eyes instead of considering all the possibilities.
