Just a fellow spoonie šŸ„„ here to share a relatable hilarious šŸ˜„ video.
Being chronically ill, you have to learn to find the humor in your diseases. For me, it's a major way I get by day to day.
This made me smile, I hope it can make you smile as well.

Hi I need people to remember scoliosis isn't the only back issue that exists
I've had multiple instances where I talked about my back issue, stating a defect in my spine causes me chronic pain, and people respond with "so do you have a form of scoliosis?"
NO. not only does this show how little people understand scoliosis but that scoliosis being the first thing to come to mind means other back problems and spine conditions are not known well enough and we need to fix that.
Start talking about your conditions, talk about your back problems, explain what you experience and listen when people talk about theirs.
Don't let the world continue to be ignorant and assume there's only one condition for you to have, don't let peoples ignorance out you in a box, that happens way too often and the only way we can solve and prevent it is if we don't stop talking about it.
Bringing awareness to things is the only way we can stop having to deal with situations like this where people are ignorant and make assumptions about our bodies based on our age, appearance and their limited knowledge.
And for the able bodied folk, don't talk over us, listen and learn and help us spread awareness. PLEASE

Cervical spine X-ray results came back already! I expected no findings, but there are a couple minor ones (tho I don’t think they’re indicative of much)
Just ā€œreversal of expected cervical lordosisā€ (basically my cervical spine doesn’t curve in like it should/straightens out), and ā€œfacet arthritisā€ in the lower part of it.
The facet arthritis doesn’t surprise me since they also found facet arthropathy in my lumbar spine X-ray in January

As much as I love the line of work, it is becoming a very real reality that I will never be able to go into my dream career because of my spine. It has shown over the last two months that I can keep pushing, and it can keep getting worse. I have wanted this for genuinely over a decade and I’m watching this dream slip through my fingers just as I have one hand on it; and I have to keep acting like I’m okay going into a different branch of the same field, but I’m not. I will miss full sized restaurant kitchens for the rest of my life

One of the things you'd think I'd learn after 17 years of mimicking humans is that the human spine and skeleton is rather fragile, I can't go 20 minutes of labor without hurting my spine, maybe I picked a bad human to transform into at the start, either way, I have gained a new appreciation for those that do manual labor without the help of Machamp or vigoroth or any of the other strong PokƩmon

Learned today that my back is a little more fucked up than I thought it was so yay that's fun. I guess I really do need a gym membership to keep myself from constant pain :)

On Wednesday I have my first appt with my new primary! The main thing I want to address is something I believe I’ve mentioned… it’s a bump(?) on my neck/upper back … maybe in my spine? Idk, maybe it’s muscle/tissue or swelling if not. All I know is it causes stiffness and pain that radiates. It’s been there since a car accident in 2023. Followed by a lot of pain in the area for a while after, and continued pain and stiffness (albeit less than the first month or so after the accident). I hope they’ll be willing to X-ray it or something :0
Pic of it below the cut for anyone curious

Once again there is nothing like the euphoria of a pain flare finally relenting
Took two ibuprofen after six hours on my feet in a kitchen and the swelling in my back, knees, and ankles finally stopped and oh my god does it feel amazing. The popping of every joint as the pressure is released 🤤

7 years since my work injury resulting in my second emergency spinal surgery in 12 months. I was only 26 when I had my first surgery & got drop foot. My back has failed me so badly. There’s so much grief around this. Not having been able to return to work is so fucking hard and depressing. People think it would be amazing not working but it isn’t. I’d give anything to work again. To give back to the community. To have a purpose. Have money.

Does the pain originate from the extremity or the spine? with Dr., Nick Rainey
Determining whether pain originates from the extremity (such as an arm or leg) or the spine can be challenging and often requires a thorough assessment by a healthcare professional. Pain can be referred, meaning that it is felt in a different location than its actual source.

I am in pain
This pain doesn’t fucking stop or go away, and it gets better before I flare up even worse than before
The only way to fix it would be another surgery, but I’m trying to avoid it for a while
I fucking hate this
