You'd sometimes ask when they would finally put you down but the workers only smiled sadly and kept telling you that that wouldn't happen and that you were safe. What a bunch of liars.....

It was the start of another day at the shelter. You ate breakfast (the most delicious thing you've ever tasted) and began your people watching. You didn't know why this human wanted to scare you but you were too trained and scared to not comply. So with some hesitation you put your chin on top of the palm of his hand and waited for what would happen next.

Just as Rozinth was begining to loose hope the hybrid laid his chin on the humans open palm and Rozinths heart melted. "You're just a big sweetie aren't you? Yes you're such a good boy!" The young man cooed as he began giving the dog hybrid scritches and pats...

'What is happening? This wasn't supposed to go this way' you thought as the human began petting your head and saying all sorts of praise. 'Did I do something good?' you wondere as you lent further into the gentle hands. If this is what being obedient got you with this guy you wouldn't mind killing and collecting more scars for him. Hell you'd even take a beating with a smile if it meant you got this after. Your enjoyment of the touch didn't last long as a worker came running up to the man and told him to "Please step back and refrain from touching the hybrids so carelessly. They might get spooked and we don't want to get in trouble if you get attacked" The human who was petting you huffed and with an almost incredulous look said "What do you mean attacked? As if this sweet boy could hurt me I mean look at him! He couldn't hurt a fly". The worker looked upset now. They were one you didn't particularly like as they were mean to you and enjoyed annoying you with loud noises. "Couldn't hurt-are you stupid? Played like three narrative heavy games which played with genre conventions and it messed me up something fierce.

So I figured i'd sort through some thoughts about them:

PARANORMASIGHT: God do I love horror visual novels with weird timeline shennanigans. The game did a fantastic job with its camera angles, the playable segments, and the thriller aspect regarding a cast of characters in a supernatural death game involving Jhorror curses, but it felt like after the prologue the curse "battles" and the timeline mechanics in general were a lot more reserved until you start getting close to the ending where it ramps it up.

It feels like you hit what would be considered the "Golden Timeline" in most other games way earlier, even if that turns out to be wrong.

The Hex: a Meta narrative game by the creator of Pony Island and Inscryption. It juggles a lot of different gameplay segments and most of them work even if two of them outstay their welcome and one of them I just did not enjoy and it wasn't the one I expected it to be. The story also suffers from having a better allegorical read on it then the actual factual narrative and I walked away disappointed with the ending that it was always building to because the last segment presented a contextualized version of the game where reading it as an allusion to another story was a little more interesting.

More interesting to discuss is the idea of exploring my own nostalgia having watched the development period of the games it explored with my own eyes (though I admit I wasn't present for the earlier booms it explored) and the idea that those times could never come again by having modern fixtures of gaming like steam reviews, online gaming communities centered around patch notes, and twitch streaming present during the rise of platformers, fighting games, and JRPGs respectfully. It imagines the history of videogames as happening during the current era with the gaming community as it now is, and as someone who entered their 30s, it's a startling mirror to hold up and it's something I had to meditate on after finishing the game. Sadly the game's main narrative has absolutely no interest in fully exploring that in exchange for "what if video game characters were real" which is alright but the game touches on more interesting subjects.

Lastly, Tacoma: A game from the developers of Gone Home that explores an abandoned space station after some unknown accident, having you explore the lives of the crew using AR projections that you walk amongst and listen to while being able to freely fast forward and rewind as you walk amongst them and puzzle out what happened.

This is an insanely interesting one that explores a near future beset by late stage capitalism in a someone frighteningly real look at a possible future while putting you in the shoes of an investigator who somewhat invasively peeks at the recorded lives of the crew in their moments aboard the station as it falls apart. The reveals in some moments had me tearing up as some of the reveals made me dread how the game could end using relatively simple and mundane things like an email not sending in the middle of a tense conversation, the fact that cryostasis isn't some magic technology and comes with very real risks, and other mundane reveals that make for very human moments.

It knows how to hit hauntingly close to home while at the same time using mechanics that basically let you see from the perspective of an all seeing AI that lived with the crew the entire time. And while the ending can be divisive I land on the side that thinks it feels correct for the narrative in the end.

for some reason the idea of a V-tuber au came to mind.

like imagine saiouma but they're two different V-tubers and work together without the fans knowing.

the way i have this set up in my mind is Kokichi is a V-tuber who has one of those overly cute and hyperactive anime girl personas and uses a voice changer to add to the character, where as Shuichi is just himself with a little character on screen to show expressions without him getting anxious about his face being seen. They help one another out during live streams by making sure all the tech works well without a hitch, but the fans don't know they even know one another and assume them to be two entierly unrelated V-tubers.

While they seem unrealted for the most part, they have said things that have made fans come to the conclusion that they do watch each other's videos. Some fans keep asking them to do a colab, while others decide to ship them. the shipping part can get a bit nippy cause Shuichi has allued to being into boys in the past, and as far as the fans are aware- Kokichi is a girl. the shippers get into fights about if it's a valid ship or not based on if Shuichi is gay or bi, a destinction he never clarifyed. meanwhile non shippers are just sitting there like "hey maybe don't ship real people"

Bonus points; Kokichi and Shuichi are roommates and dating. so the fans sometimes hear about a roommate from Shuichi and a boyfriend from Kokichi- the boyfriend bit resulting in even more shipping arguments. Kokichi finds the whole fanbase boyfriend drama halarious, and while Shuichi doesn't care for it he doesn't bother interveining either- especially since it entertains Kokichi

i think Kokichi would also get a kick out of becoming a sorts of character on Shuichi's streams, Shuichi only referring to him as "The Roommate", and Kokichi purposfully sounding perpetually tired with his natrual voice in the background. wip challenge

after school special is actually a fic that that features krupp’s family. or at least, some of them (hence one of the reasons why its called after school special-- its pretty removed from the usual jhes shennanigans or the boys) 

it was based on some initial sketches i did where jasper and captain talk to each other, and the concept spiraled from there. most of the reason why it’s still a work in progress-- besides school-- is because i’ve yet to properly nail down the middle part and resolution. which i guess means that a lot of it hasn’t been finished. but, hey, at least i have the introduction down, so have a preview of that

Chunks of stinking beef and other day-old lunch meats were all over the street, the windows, the trees. A weiner dog was buried in a small pile of similar-sized hotdogs, leaving the owner to scoop through the meat to unearth her precious pooch.

Despite all this, Jasper Krupp’s eyes were screwed shut. His knuckles were ghost-white as he held onto the steering wheel. His mind was babbling a stream of consciousness that consisted of everything he wished to say to everyone.

There was a faint tap on the car door to the tune of shave and a haircut. “Citizen?” A familiar voice called out to him. “You can stop cowering now!”

He cracked an eye open. The figure was spotlighted against the sun, leaving him a silhouette in Jasper’s point of view. Realizing the lack of immediate danger, he opened his other eye and turned to face the man proper.

Imagine his surprise, seeing his older brother half-naked with a curtain around his neck and holding a bajillion pound’s worth of bologna with one hand.

“Ben?!”

this is my addition to the hermitcraft propaganda. this is focused at dsmp fans bc i am one. 

hermitcraft is a long running smp that started in 2012. it runs in seasons, with each season lasting around a year, often just over. they are currently on season 8, and started fairly recently. 

the players on hermitcraft tend to change each season, but i have compiled a list of who i think you might enjoy, based off of your favourite dsmp member!

MumboJumbo: have you got ADHD? do you love how tommyinnit says Things and other people get confused? well then MumboJumbo is the hermit for you! he's absolutely absurd. a spoon. he's also over 6ft tall and built like a brick shit house. insane. this man is an enigma. he's also a cinematographer. who even is this guy. (he also does cool redstone builds and always sounds surprised when they work even tho he's been doing this since 2012.)

BdoubleO100: a rabid chihuahua in the body of a human. truly follows that feral energy that makes up tommyinnit. mans built an entire mountain last season and he's doing it again! crazy! he's also the king of sleep. night is a rare phenomenon on hermitcraft, since bdubs starts clicking his bed at the barest hint of sunset. gotta shweep!

Grian: the stereotypical pick. he's the prankster man, everyone seems to think he's pretty childish and he often has the younger brother role even though he's not the youngest on the server. has started/been majorly involved in two wars. had an alter ego called poultry man who would fly around dropping eggs and spawning chickens everywhere.

RANBOO-

Rendog: lore man lore man!!!! he has a bunch of fun and interesting characters and he puts a lot of thought into his episodes, from his builds to his mc skin, to make sure everything comes together perfectly. I don't watch his hermitcraft stuff but I've seen him via other hermit's povs and he rlly does pick a role and throw himself into it. it's amazing.

PHILZA-

EthosLab: do you like anime kinnies? do you like old gods of minecraft? well let me introduce you to ethoslab! i want to study him in a lab. he causes problems on purposes. he builds super random redstone things. he messes with noteblocks. he was head of shennanigans. his minecraft skin is kakashi hatake from naruto. there was a block named after him in the 2013 april fools update (the EthoSlab). who is this man. i think he also has the longest running minecraft lets play. what the heck.

Grian: bird man. good at flying. chaotic bitch. idk some of the vibes are there.

SAPNAP-

Tangotek: crazy redstone man. builds crazy minigames. idk there aren't actually many similarities here other than they're both often associated with fire in fanworks despite not actually having that much to do with it.

FUNDY-

EthosLab: aforementioned anime kinnie. crazy redstone. idk. Zedaph: in season 7 he built a cave of contraptions which contained these amazing redstone machines that found the most complicated and convoluted ways to perform regular tasks, just for the hell of it. what a guy! Iskall85: they're friends :3. that is all. (actually they both just have very similar Vibes. I have no other way to describe it. it's just Vibes).

SCHLATT-

Cubfan135: (specifically season 6). evil capitalist man (/lh). ran a big corporation with scar. they made profit from a war. idk i dont watch cub, thats all i could think of. GoodTimesWithScar: evil capitalist man with cub in season 6. in season 7 he got voted mayor and then started charging the shops to allow them to be accessed from the road. there was also a big "war" over mycelium. fun times. he's actually a very genuine and sweet guy. also his cat jellie is in the game bc he won a competition or smthin. idk man he loves his cat so much. you know what builds belong to scar bc there's just jelies everywhere.

TECHNOBLADE-

FalseSymmetry: okay listen the mcc teams are being announced as I'm typing this so my brain started thinkin mcc and basically they're both well known for being good at pvp. i dont watch false but i know she has a tumblr so i'd trust her with a knife.

Grian: thinkin mcc again. they teamed for mcc pride. you can go watch that if u want to get grians Vibes while still having a dsmp member present for some familiarity. idk.

NIHACHU-

GeminiTay: a lot of ppl say they like niki's streams bc of the comforting vibes and general chill atmosphere, and I think gem matches that pretty well. cy once said she sounds like fluttershy and tbh i sorta agree. shes an awesome builder and insanely smart and even though she's new this season im already incredibly attatched to her.

TUBBO-

Zedaph: aforementioned cave of contraptions rlly fits tubbo's vibe. i think he's going the mad scientist route this season too. Docm77: another mad scientist. already early on he made this super weird lighting farm thing? i dont even know but i've seen the clip and its MAD. even if you dont watch hermitcraft you should check out that individual clip.

FOOLISH-

literally any of them bc i genuinely belive wholeheartedly that foolish would fit perfectly on hermitcraft if he could manage not to swear. (altho maybe cub bc last season he build a giant pyramid.)
