✧ the elle woods study method: mindset makeover & foundation building ✧

hey lovelies! 💗
omg, i'm literally bursting with excitement to start this transformative series with you all! we're going to dive deep into actually studying like elle woods, and all her study methods. it's going to change your academic life. (while keeping you fabulous, obviously!)
let's start with the most crucial element - the elle woods mindset. you know how elle went from being underestimated at harvard to graduating with honors? that transformation began in her mind, and that's exactly where we're starting too!
the core principles of the elle woods mindset (get ready to take notes!):
unwavering self-belief: elle's iconic "what, like it's hard?" attitude wasn't just cute - it was crucial
authenticity as your superpower: your unique perspective is your strength
resilience through positivity: turning every "you can't" into "watch me"
strategic determination: working smarter, not just harder
maintaining your essence: success shouldn't mean losing yourself
let me break down how to actually build this mindset (because theory without practice is like a perfect outfit without accessories - incomplete!):
mindset foundation building: • start a daily confidence journal (pink, obviously!) • write three daily affirmations • document your wins, no matter how small • reflect on challenges and how you overcame them
goal setting the elle way: • dream big (harvard law big!) • break down major goals into mini-milestones • create realistic timelines • identify potential obstacles and plan solutions • celebrate every achievement (even the tiny ones!)
your personal success toolkit: • a dedicated study planner (color-coded, elle would approve) • positive affirmation cards • vision board (mix academic and personal goals) • progress tracking system • reward system for reaching milestones
practical assignments for this week:
yes, i'm giving you all homework, because what's a lesson without doing homework? <3
mindset makeover tasks: • create your confidence corner (a designated study space that makes you feel powerful) • write your personal academic manifesto • identify and challenge three limiting beliefs • create a morning power routine
organization prep: • get your study essentials (cute but functional!) • set up your planning system • create a semester overview • design your ideal weekly schedule
community building: • find your study buddies (your personal warner hunting club, but for academics!) • join study groups • set up accountability partnerships • create a support system
elle's journey wasn't about memorizing legal terms - it was about believing she belonged in those hallowed halls while wearing her signature pink. you deserve to feel that same confidence in your academic journey. <3
advanced tips for the overachievers (because why not be extra?):
record yourself giving pep talks for tough days
create a study aesthetic that energizes you
develop personal success rituals
build a playlist that makes you feel powerful
photograph your progress for motivation
coming up in this series:
time management secrets
memory techniques that actually work
note-taking methods that slay
exam preparation strategies
self-care routines for academic success
group study dynamics
presentation skills
stress management
celebration strategies
and more of course <3
remember: elle woods didn't just survive harvard - she thrived while being unapologetically herself. that's our goal too! you're not just going to study better; you're going to build an academic approach that celebrates who you are.
homework time (but make it fun):
create your academic vision board
write your semester goals
design your ideal study schedule
set up your success tracking system
prepare your study space
xoxo, mindy
p.s. don't forget to reblog and follow for the complete series! we're building our own little academic sorority here! <3

How to get your life together: Student edition ᯓᡣ𐭩
Mindset
As cliche and redundant as it sounds, it's important to be positive, as well as realistic, about your academic life. Understand what you want to achieve, what you're capable of, how to effectively push yourself and how to rest. This is the recipe for success.
2. Goal setting
Bouncing off of the mindset step, focus on what it is your want to achieve in your academic life. Be very specific with these goals. Understand and set your yearly goals, quarterly goals, as well as monthly and weekly goals. This will help you plan your days and have a realistic sense of time in terms of how much work needs to be done in certain subjects, how much rest can be had, and how often breaks should be taken.
3. Discipline & self understanding
Understanding who you are as a person and how you learn, process, and retain information can help you effectively practice self discipline.
Questions to ask yourself:
+ What type of learning style do I have?
+ What time of day do I work best in?
+ What environments do I work best in?
+ Are digital or physical notes more comfortable and effective to me?
+ Have I established a pleasant relationship with my instructors and at least one peer in all of my classes?
+ What subjects am I strongest in?
+ Do I learn best in a group environment, one on one, or reviewing notes independently?
+ Am I easily distracted when studying? If so, by what, and can these things be easily prevented?
+ What are specific triggers (if any) that help me get "in the zone?"
+ When are my typical rest days, or times of the week/month/year that I like to rest (no work at all, or very light reviewing)?
4. Daily schedule
Now, create a schedule around your answers to the previous questions and make certain tasks "non-negotiable." (Whether this be "I must brush my teeth and shower after waking up," or "I must study from 6-10 every night," is your decision.) Be realistic with setting these non-negotiable tasks, but also believe in yourself, and try and push yourself a little out of your comfort zone. You know what you're capable of, and if you want to achieve something you feel you're just not ready for, practice,- and build up your stamina!
Things to always include in your daily schedule:
+ Wake up time
+ Getting ready/ commute time
+ At least two meal times
+ At least an hour of leisure time
+ At least seven hours of sleep a night
+ Do your homework the day it is assigned
+ Give yourself a daily reward
Things to always include in your montly schedule:
+ At least one date with friends or family
+At least one date with your significant other
+ At least one phone call with long distance loved ones
+ At least one study date a week with peers or friends
+ At least a certain time during a certain day of the week to completely unplug and rest
+ Read the syllabus and log every important deadline and exam
Other useful tips:
+ Keep your workspace tidy, inspiring and organized
+ Changing the scenery when you work can be a nice change of pace
+ Breaking big tasks down into smaller chunks can feel less overwhelming
+ Plan meals ahead or small snacks so you won't feel hungry/forget to eat
+ Use materials that are effective and fun for you
Studying time frames:
Study time - Break time
20 min - 5 min
30 min - 10 min
45 min - 15 min
1 hr - 20 min
1hr 30 min - 25 min
2 hr - 30-45 min
When should you study?
+ Never the night before
+ Exam - 1 week before
+ Test - 3 days before
+ Study first thing when you awake
+ Review complicated concepts before bed

studying methods ˖ ⊹ ࣪ ౨ৎ˚
"the kpop method"
You're going to pretend that your school is a kpop company, and each class represents a different kpop group, and each student is a member of that group. The best student in each class is the most biased member, and the worst student is the least biased member. work until you are the most biased member. By working hard and putting in your effort, you can become the most biased member of your class and achieve your academic goals.
BONUS - If you want to become the best version of yourself while still using the kpop method, i have a little tip for you! You're going to make a list of requirements for yourself, this can include how you want to dress, how you want to act, make a routine for yourself, etc. Then you can pretend it's your "company" telling these things, as if you were a real kpop idol ˖ ᡣ𐭩 ⊹ ࣪
(this method is not mine, credits to the original owner of this method)
" The Rory Gilmore method"
this method is not very complex, but it has a lot of steps.
1. create a schedule - Rory is well-known for her strict schedule and commitment to sticking to it. To study like Rory, you should first make a timetable outlining your study time, your reading time, and free time. Include breaks in your schedule and try to follow it as much as you can.
2. lots of reading - Rory is an avid reader who always carries a book with her. Pick books that interest you and make reading a daily habit ( i recommend reading before bed because it helps me to calm down and helps me with falling asleep). Reading books will help you develop your vocabulary and critical thinking skills.
3. Take notes - Rory is well-known for her detailed notes and ability to retain new information. Take notes in class and annotate your books. Make your notes more structured by using highlithers and different colors, and review them daily. (goodnotes - ios, notion - ios and android are great for digital notes)
4. Make use of flashcards - Rory memorises stuff through flashcards. Flashcards can be used for vocabulary terms, key concepts, and other relevant information. Use them to test yourself and review regularly.
5. Define your goals - Rory has a set goal, what are you working for? Make a vision board, write down your goals, visualize. This will help you stay motivated and not loose focus!
6. stay organized - Rory is well-organized, and her study space is always neat and tidy. Keep your study area nice and free from distractions. Use folders, binders, and other tools to keep your notes and supplies organized, make sure your work space is clean and clutter-free.
7. seek help when needed - Rory is not afraid to ask for help when she needs it. Don't hesitate to ask for help from your teachers, tutors, or classmates if you need it. To enhance your learning, ask questions, and seek out extra resources such as textbooks, youtube videos, and study guides.
8. atmosphere - Don't forget to make the atmosphere cozy, light a candle, prepare yourself a cup of tea or coffee, and wear a comfy sweater. Create an environment in which you can stay focused for hours! ˖ ᡣ𐭩 ⊹ ࣪

How to study for long hours/
I find it easier to study with the pomodoro method, where you focus for 25 minutes at least and then take a break.
However during exam preparation or whenever we have situations where there’s a lot of portions to cover, focusing is really hard. We often get distracted by our phones and devices as well as social media.
So I introduce my favourite life changing app!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this app, it’s available on both android and iOS.
It basically has a feature where you can choose the apps you want for studying and the rest of the apps are blocked.
It also has a study log where it basically tracks how long you study for a subject.
It allows me to use the apps that I WANT for studying as well as block social media. It reduces my screen time and distractions immensely and I’m able to focus much better !
(Ps- this is not sponsored)
I hope this helps!
Love,
Mith <3

“Alot” vs. “A Lot”: Why One Is Right and the Other Isn’t
Let’s clear something up once and for all:
“Alot” is not a word.
Yes, it shows up in texts, tweets, and even the occasional essay—but that doesn’t make it correct.
✅ The Correct Term:
A lot
“A lot” is a phrase made up of two words:
“A” (an article)
“Lot” (a noun meaning a large amount or number)
Together, “a lot” means “many” or “a large quantity.”
Examples:
I have a lot of homework tonight.
She drinks a lot of coffee.
We laughed a lot during the movie.
It’s informal, but it’s real—and it’s useful!
❌ The Common Mistake:
Alot
“Alot” might look like it could be a word, but it’s not recognized by dictionaries or style guides. It’s simply a typo or misunderstanding that’s crept into common usage.
And while spellcheckers often catch it, they don’t always explain why it’s wrong. So now you know: no space = no good.
Pro Tip: Try Replacing It
A good test is to replace “a lot” with “many” or “much.”
✔️ I have a lot of shoes. → I have many shoes. ✅
❌ I have alot of shoes. → I have alot shoes. ❌
If it doesn’t work, it’s not a word.
Bonus: The Mythical “Alot” (For Fun)
If you’re a fan of grammar humor, you might love Allie Brosh’s classic blog post from Hyperbole and a Half, where she imagines the “Alot” as a big, furry creature that shows up every time someone writes it.
It’s hilarious—and a great way to remember the rule.
TL;DR
✅ a lot = correct
❌ alot = nope
Use “a lot” when you mean “many” or “a large amount.”
Don’t squish them together—it’s not a thing.

cherry blossoms

the roads are lined with cherry blossoms right now,
creating a beautiful pink path.
But soon,
it will all be over,
as cherry blossoms only stay in full bloom for a short time.
Today, it feels like we’re in the middle of spring.
The cherry blossoms are starting to fall, and the roads are lightly pink with petals, but they’re no longer sparkling like before.

✧ if it doesn't align with the dream life, it's a distraction ✧

hey lovelies!! 🦢
omg, so, i was literally journaling last night & this phrase just hit me like… so hard. "if it doesn't align with the dream life, it's a distraction." i had to stop writing and just sit with that for a min.
because honestly? i've been feeling so scattered lately. like my energy is going in a million directions but none of them are taking me where i actually want to go. and i realized that's exactly what happens when we don't have clarity on our it-girl blueprint.
so what even is an it-girl blueprint? it's not just aesthetic or vibes (tho those matter too!!) but it's this deep knowing of who you're meant to become. it's that version of you who wakes up excited, who feels aligned, who's living in her dream apartment with her dream career and her dream people. she exists!! she's waiting for you to become her!!
this post is a bit different from my most recents, i wanted to take a little tinyyy break from my pop culture series', like the pll x glowettee and vampire diaries x glowettee series' and just focus more on self-improvement again. i also wanted to take a break from the overwhelming aesthetics i've been using in my posts, and justtttt write~~ (no small text, no crazy colors, just my thoughts) and i realized that distractions have been very prominent in my life lately... so i wanted to address it in this post, and some possible solutions <3
✧ what's actually distracting you? ✧
okay so grab your journal rn and let's get super real about what's pulling you away from your dream life, feel free to use these prompts:
that situationship that makes you feel anxious every time they text (you know the one)
the hours of scrolling that leave you feeling empty inside
saying yes to plans when your body is literally begging you to rest
the "friend" who always has drama and makes everything about them
that project you started because you thought you "should" but you actually hate
staying in that job/class/situation because you're scared to disappoint someone
comparing your chapter 1 to someone else's chapter 20 (guilty!!)
i've been doing this work myself and it's kinda scary how many things i was pouring energy into that weren't actually taking me anywhere i wanted to go??
✧ getting clear on your actual dream life ✧
before we can align with our dream life, we need to know what it actually looks like! not what instagram or your mom or society thinks it should look like, but what YOU want.
some journal prompts that helped me:
when do i feel most like myself?
what activities make me lose track of time?
who makes me feel seen, safe, and supported?
what would my perfect morning routine look like if i had zero obligations?
what kind of spaces make me feel calm and inspired?
what would i do with my time if money wasn't an issue?
what parts of my current life would i keep even if i could change everything?
i did this exercise last weekend and realized that so many things i was chasing weren't even in my dream life blueprint?? like i was stressing about getting into this super competitive program but when i really thought about it, it wasn't even aligned with what i actually want. wild.
✧ how to actually make decisions that align ✧
okay, so here's my little framework for making choices that actually build your dream life:
the body check: before saying yes to anything, check in with your body. does it feel expansive and light, or contracted and heavy? your body literally knows before your brain does!!
the future self question: what would the version of you who's already living your dream life do? she knows!! trust her!!
the energy audit: does this person/activity/commitment give you energy or drain it? only say yes to energy-givers (this one changed my life omg)
the alignment test: ask yourself "does this move me closer to or further from my dream life?" be brutally honest!!
the joy metric: if it doesn't bring you joy or lead to joy, why are you doing it?? (unless it's like… taxes or something lol)
✧ how to let go of the distractions ✧
this is the hardest part tbh. because we get attached to things even when they're not serving us! here's what's helping me:
remember that saying no to something is saying yes to your dream life
start with the easiest distractions first (for me it was unfollowing accounts that made me feel bad)
create little rituals around letting go (i write things down and then burn the paper)
remind yourself that outgrowing things is part of becoming
be gentle with yourself when you slip back into old patterns (we all do it!!)
i had to let go of a friendship a few months that was taking so much energy, and it was really hard but also?? i suddenly had all this space to focus on things that actually matter to me.
✧ your dream life alignment practice ✧
here's a little daily practice i've been doing:
morning: set an intention to notice what aligns and what distracts
throughout the day: when making choices, ask "dream life or distraction?"
evening: celebrate the aligned choices you made + gently note the distractions
it's not being perfect!! it's becoming more conscious of our choices. because every tiny decision is either building your dream life or… not.
i've been doing this for about three weeks now and i already feel so much clearer and more focused. like i'm finally moving in one direction instead of being pulled in a million different ones.
remember: you deserve your dream life. and it starts with choosing it, over and over, in all the tiny moments.
question from mindy:
what's one distraction you're ready to let go of? and one aligned action you're ready to take? (feel free to send me a message in my inbox, or just reblog answering this question.)
xoxo, mindy 🤍
