~ EVENT SPOTLIGHT : Queer Vampire Game Jam 2025 ~

Queer Vampire Game Jam is a month-long interactive fiction game jam hosted by kit, nyehilism, that will run from January 10 - February 20th, 2025. The goal of this jam is to create more interactive fiction games about queer vampires, focusing both on queer relationships and queer experiences as told through a vampiric narrative.

Last year’s edition had over 50 amazing submissions. Give them a look too!

Media depicting healthy examples of polyamory isn’t that common. The PolyJamorous 2024 is trying to break the status-quo!

ShuffleComp is a musical interactive fiction competition where you make games based on songs, which are submitted by other entrants. Creators have until January 20th 2025 to upload their works.

Once upon a time, a game jam was held to create stories around the theme of fairy tales… and that game jam is the Once Upon A Time VN Jam. It’s running from October 1st to January 31st.

Concours de Fiction Interactive Francophone 2025 is for all French-speaking enthusiasts. Submissions are accepted March 3rd 2025.

The Black Visual Novel Jam is all about working with creative professional developers who work in visual novels to bring more Black stories to life. The goal is to create a space where Black creators can show their unique storytelling through visual novels.

SeedComp! is a 2-round interactive fiction game jam, focusing on creativity and the growth of ideas and the Sprouting Round has just started! Check out the Planting round for inspiration.

BL stands for Boys' Love, a genre that focuses on romantic and emotional relationships between male characters. The Ultimate BL Visual Novel Game Jam is all about that!

➡️ What is a reverse bang? A Reverse Bang is where an artist creates a new piece of art about a set topic, and then submits the artwork to the bang by a given deadline. All the art will be displayed anonymously. On claims day, Authors will choose a piece of art to write a story for. The story and art work will then be revealed to the public on a set posting date. 🙌😄 and we all get to enjoy the awesomeness 😁

➡️ What does Eldritch mean? Eldritch means weird, eerie, strange, or unnatural, especially in a way that inspires fear. Think classic horror, cryptids, dark gods, psychological terror and the stuff of nightmares 😁. You can find out more on the LJ Spn Eldritch Bang page.

➡️ Who can take part? A reverse bang is open to artists and authors of all levels and experiences. Art can be traditional or digital, including creative manips and video edits but it must be your own - no AI. The bang is open to all pairings or Gen works for Spn or Spn RPF ideas, however the focus must be on the spooky/horror aspect, and works can’t include underage sexual situations. Main rules:

Keep the gift a secret from your giftee until midnight Feb 1, 2025 UTC. It's a surprise!

Please abide by "Do Not Wants" requested by your giftee. (Eg: if your giftee asks for no apples, please do not make a gift for them that involves apples.) Note that some folks are particular about ships: any ships are fine to request/write/create in this event, but please do not create a shippy gift out of a non-shippy request.

The event organizers will check in with you via discord direct messages as the deadline approaches. If you fail to respond to check-ins three times in a row, you will be presumed as not being able to complete your gift, and your gift will be reassigned to a pinch hitter.

Submitting your gift through the AO3 Collection is optional. ␥ list of things i’ve successfully manifested !

i discovered manifestation and the law around early 2022 and here's what i have manifested since then! this might not be much but this is to remind me that i am capable of anything and everything!

𖥻 1. clearer skin

i used to have a terrible breakout on the right side of my face + oily skin. now my skin is much better and less oily! i do not have acne anymore.

𖥻 2. weight loss ( 14 kgs )

i went from 69 kgs to 55 kgs in around two months with minimal exercise ( walking ) & a simple diet.

𖥻 3. height increase ( 11cm )

i used to be 150cm but not anymore lol. i got better proportions too!

𖥻 4. text messages & instant replies from people.

i also manifested message from a friend i was no longer in contact with.

𖥻 5. passing exams i thought i was going to fail

accountancy was my weakest subject but i manifested passing several tests and exams. i also manifested getting better in it!

𖥻 6. getting above average % board exams

board examinations are a big deal in my country and i, unfortunately, ended in a stream i was not interested in. i manifested getting ~80% in them despite getting way lesser in school examinations.

one single thought turned into an assumption and i am having whatever i want for dinner!

𖥻 8. storage of my phone increasing

i only have 32gb of storage in my phone lol. so sometimes i have to clear app caches to make space, but not anymore.

i simply wanted a love confession and i got it. as easy as it gets.

𖥻 10. an increament in my mom’s salary & money for myself

my mom really wanted an increament and i manifested it! she got increament of 5.5k! also manifested a bonus for her. + got gift money from my parents and relatives!

i used to be attached some people that hurt me but not anymore. i have let go of them and it feels so much better.

my mom is not the type to let me spend money on buying books ( for leisure reading ), much less a comic book. but i manifested her allowing me to buy 4 books + 1 manga volume! she even paid for them.

my college was supposed to start from early june but i manifested a delay and it started from mid-july. i have manifested both school teachers and college professors taking leaves on my desired days.

GUIDELINES:

Art must comply with the rules of tumblr. A width of at least 540px wide, max file size is 20MB, please keep that in mind! If you’re drawing nsft art for your Giftee (You both must be 18+, minors are only allowed to create sfw works) you should censor it to post it. You can send the uncensored art to your Giftee!

Fics must be at minimum 500 words, no cap on the maximum however, go wild! (If you want to make a graphic to go with your fic, go for it! But it’s not mandatory <3)

Aesthetics/Moodboards should have a minimum of 4 graphics/images. You can make multiple for your giftee if you'd like! (Be considerate of eyestrain and/or flashing/etc. if using gifs!)

If you wish to back out at any point please let us know as soon as possible so we can work on a backup gift for your giftee, try not to leave it until the last day of the event!

Io! The time of the year has come again for the Rural Dionysia!

How to participate

The Rural Dionysia is meant to be a smaller competition than its urban counterpart, as such, we have selected only 3 categories:

Freestyle poetry

Modern hymns

“Complete the fragment”

Freestyle poetry

Your poem can be about any chosen topic (myth, personal experience etc.) in any written format. It doesn't have to be religious in nature.

Modern hymn

An hymn must sing the praises of a deity of your choice. Unlike the "freestyle poetry", your work must be of religious nature to fit in this category.

Complete the Fragment

Each year, we choose a fragment from an Ancient Greek poet to work with. The challenge is that the initial fragment must be included somewhere in your piece in its original order. This means you can fill the gaps however you want, but you can’t switch the order of the words in your piece or remove words from the original fragment.

Here is the fragment selected for this 2023 edition: Paen 16 by Pindar (52q Oxyrhynchus papyrus; late 2nd century AD; trans. William H. Race; Loeb 56)

Submitting your piece

Please submit your piece through submissions on this blog. All entries must be tagged for the category they are being submitted to. but you can only choose 1 category per piece and each person may only submit 1 entry per category each year.

Entries must also be tagged for potentially triggering content and squicks. If your entry needs a trigger warning, kindly add them at the end of your submission and we will take care of adding them in. Check the rules below for further information about submissions.

Nov. 10: Official announcement and opening of submissions. Dec. 10: Final submission day. Dec. 11: Vote opening. Dec. 18: Vote closing. Dec. 19-20: Announcement of the winners!

General rules

Roleplay and fanfic are not acceptable submissions. This is a religious festival, please respect our faith and do not submit an entry if you are roleplaying or writing fanfiction.

Unlike with the City Dionysia, entries do not necessarily have to be about specific deities or Hellenic polytheism except for the “Modern Hymn” category, which has to be dedicated to one or many gods of your choice.

There are no meter restrictions. This is up to the writer.

All stories, myths, and poems must be entered using the submissions button.

All entries must be tagged for the category they are being submitted to. Entries must also be tagged for potentially triggering content and squicks.

An entry may only be submitted to a single category.

Each person may only submit one entry per category each year.

Winners for each category will be decided by popular vote.

Greetings and Felicitations, dear K/S friends! Happy New Year! We hope those of you in the Northern Hemisphere are staying warm and that those of you in the Southern Hemisphere are keeping cool. We have so many fannish activities going on. Let's take a look... 1. Submissions for the KiScon 2025 con zine are open now!

It's a new year, there'll be a new con, and we'll have a new con zine! Our brave 1lostone and Alice West are reprising their roles as zine editors and look forward to working with you.  While we know this is currently a contentious topic, please know that AI-generated works are not welcome here as AI-generated material is in diametrical opposition to artistic integrity, based on plagiarism, and a substantial consumer of valuable natural resources.

We are looking for new and never before seen art and writing (both fic and meta!) focusing on the relationship between Kirk and Spock.

2. Comments Made Them Do It: the February comment drive

For the month of February, we'd like for you to bring a little self-love into your life. 😏

Think of a fanwork (fic, art, vid, podfic, etc.) you created that you would like to see more interaction with. Maybe it features a tag that isn't as popular. Maybe it just happened to be posted on a busy day and only a few people saw it. Maybe you're just really darn proud of it!

Send your link to 1lostone by email or by Discord message, and she'll post it in the #self-love channel on our KiScord. Then, we'll have a lovely list of recs for people to enjoy. For the purposes of this, we ask that the fanwork has been posted for at least four months and ask that only V'Ger, the creator, send it to 1lostone.

3. Kirk/Spock Spring Fever 2025 is happening

Here’s the schedule for 2025: Sign-ups and prompt posts: open until Jan 31 ("sign-up" is only needed for submitting prompts, not for filling them!) Prompt claims and creation period: open until March 10  Works due: March 10  Works revealed: March 22  Creators revealed: March 26 The time for all these steps is: 12:01 AM UTC.

Rules and FAQs can be found on the AO3 collection profile. They are pretty much the same as in previous years, but it’s worth checking them out for a quick refresher.

117 prompts have been collected during January and are now waiting to be filled by authors, artists, podficcers, etc. You can fill as many or as few prompts as you want, and prompts can also be filled multiple times.  There's a dedicated #ks-springfever channel in the KiScord, for discussion and mutual encouragement, and announcements are also posted to Tumblr. 4. Kirk/Spock Advent Calendar 2024 Masterlist Thank you to everyone who contributed to the Kirk/Spock Advent Calendar 2024!  93 fanworks were posted throughout December, by 26 creators; the works consist of 55 fics and ficlets, 26 poems, and 12 artworks. The 2024 collection is now closed for posting. KiScon Bingo has returned for 2025! Ping our bingo mod 1lostone to get your card!

You can (and are encouraged to) interpret the prompts in any way you can, in any medium of fanwork you choose: fic, meta, podfic, art, vid, gifset, etc.

You can also participate as reader/consumer of fanworks! Filling your bingo card by enjoying fanworks and leaving comments is a wonderful way to join the fun.

You have until Dec 31, 2025, to fill your prompts. If your fanwork is Kirk/Spock or Kirk & Spock in any universe, and you post to AO3, please use the collection link (or put "KiSconBingo", without the quotes, into the collection field during the posting process)! If you use your card to post something outside of the Trek fandom, that is perfectly fine, but it won't go into the KiScon collection.

The "challenge" comes in here: If the prompt is just something that you're iffy on, you have the option of either ignoring it and filling another line, or challenging yourself to create it!

As for 'filling' a bingo card, it's meant to be low-stress. You can fill any way that makes sense to you. Some examples are: you may create one fanwork per square, or one fanwork that uses a vertical/horizontal/diagonal line, or even a fanwork (or several) that uses everything on the card! The "free" space means you do not have to write a fic for that spot. You do not HAVE to fill every space on your bingo card! Once you fill the fanwork, please post the fill(s) (and the marked out card) in ⁠the #ks-bingo channel on the KiScord so we can celebrate you! See the pinned directions there on how to embed your card in your AO3 submission.

2024 — Year in Review

Some highlights of the year :)

Got engaged (technically in Dec. last year), celebrated with friends

Took up digital art and began learning/relearning how to draw.

Published the first chapter of my dissertation.

Visited New Orleans in time to see the Krewe du Vieux (incredible, so much raunch and vulgarity 10/10)

Visited Boston over Valentine's day and had the best moqueca of my life.

Had a breakdown in March-April when my body decided to go through second puberty. Srsly my hormones went wild. I was so stressed and sick and spent a solid month crying about the state of my country and my love of Jesus??? (I am not and have not been a practicing catholic since I was 15 lol) Honestly, a horrible experience, and the only good thing to come out of it is that I now take my vitamins and my bewbs are bigger than before.

Finished my long fic, The Illusionist 🎉

Befriended the local crows 🖤

Successfully grew plants on my balcony (which then got eaten by house sparrows and became diseased 😅)

Visited family in Seattle, saw some orcas. Now considering moving to the PNW once I graduate.

Didn't write as much fic as I would have liked but I drew a lot. It's hard to see progress, but I'm definitely experimenting more, which is a start.

Made some really good guava bbq ribs back in September, which I will make again for Christmas.

Bought a real hardwood dining table that seats more than two people (moving up in the world!)

Submitted the second chapter of my dissertation, which is now under review

I am making a lot of mulled wine and pfeffernüsse so we're off to a good start to the holiday season :D

Just wanted to end off by saying that this space has been such a wonderful respite from the stress of grad school. Thank you to everyone who makes this fandom as pleasant and enjoyable as it's been! Wishing you all a happy end of 2024 💖
