I’ve never been a big fan of new years. It has always felt a bit tacky and lacking.

I don’t like the resolutions. I don’t like the start of something new. I don’t like that people treat it as if it is completely different. I don’t like that they call it a ball drop and zero large spherical objects get dropped. I don’t like any part of it.

But I’ll be damned if you don’t catch me listening to “This Year” by the mountain goats every time the year shifts into a new one. I may not be starting something new but I am glad that the past didn’t kill me.
