   She had heard talk about the infamous Nick Valentine from people in passing -- but the words that they spoke didn’t seem to capture the man as a whole. His face, while off-setting at first, was strangely interesting.

Ellie wanted to ask him what happened -- but she decided against that, realizing that that was terrible manners upon first meeting someone. Yet, all she could think about is how much he looked like a character from one of the comics she read.  What was his story? 

He fit the aesthetic of a detective. He even had the voice...

It was getting hard to bottle up all this excitement. She needed to know everything.

“Hey man, you alright? You don’t look so good.”

With Hancock gone off to who-knows-where with some vault dweller, raiders, supermutants, and other hostile elements had taken this as an idea that Goodneighbor was ripe for the taking, but they were wrong.

The supermutants that managed to break through the gate of Goodneighbor had really done a number on the town before they were taken down. While most people had hid or run for cover to shoot from a distance, there were few lone men that had either had the guts or lacked the sense to join the fray of battle, guns blazing. Those men had been two of the Neighborhood watch, KLE0, and this guy, a man in a trenchcoat and fedora.

Both of the watchmen that jumped into the front lines had been slaughtered, one with his head crushed in and the other with his arms torn off, this one guy seemed to be the only one alive. KLE0 was also damaged, but not in immedient danger like a human would be with the same wounds. It was an upsetting sight, but if it hadn’t been for them, then Raul and the others who were shooting them from a distance wouldn’t have been able to flank them and take them down.

This place sucked. The monsters suck, the people suck, the settlements suck! Not only did none of the savages have any idea who he was, they wouldn’t even take him money. MONEY! They didn’t know what money was! Who the hell uses bottle caps? And okay maybe he wasn’t being the kindest of guests, often pushing citizens out of his way and bad mouthing guards.

Whatever! Jack groaned in frustration, fingers pulling at his hair before composing himself and ducking in an alleyway littered with neon lights. Valentine’s Detective Agency? That heart really had an arrow in it. Oh he had to see what sort of princess owned this place. The CEO pulled open the door already failing to contain his laughter. “That’s a- that’s a real cute little sign you got out there! You-.” Oh. Uh huh. A... robot. Cool. “Sorry is your uh... owner? Master? I don’t know what you guys refer to people around here, but is your human around? Can you go get ‘em for me, cupcake? Alright, thanks.”

Ah, The Third Rail.

An underground bar just brimming with activity tonight. It was on an off day Roxanne would end up in Goodneighbor. Minutemen weren't exactly beloved but the crowd was alright. However tonight was not a night for work. The blonde had shucked off her uniform for a shirt and jeans, only keeping her pistol and some jet. She took a puff before heading in, exchanging a nod with Ham on the way down.

About twenty minutes in all hell broke loose. One of the ghouls had been particularly pushy that evening. Rox, being high as a kite and a bit paranoid, had blatantly knocked the man cold. This in turn triggered a small wave of bar fighting all in which Ham was forced to interrupt. Magnolia patiently waited, taking a break to freshen up.

"Beer please, Charlie." The bot grumbled and slinged one out, leaving Rox to tend to her bruised hand as she sat down and waited to be called out and kicked out like a naughty child in school. Nudging the stranger next to her she mumbled an apology.

        “Is everyone here always so . . . intolerant?” It wasn’t often one stepped into a settlement to be greeted by its residents debating whether some of them were synths or not. Yet, Diamond City had decided to break the mold. Since she’d been visiting it, she’d witnessed spats and near fire fights on multiple occasions. It was a wonder that Nick felt comfortable remaining in the city at all. “No ghouls, no synths -- what a lovely little home this place makes.”
