i am a minor, many others on these tags are minors, and it’s supposed to be an all ages space because social media is open in most countries for ages 13 (or 16 in some) and up. i love seeing transition progress for everyone of all genders. good for you!! /gen get that surgery, cut or grow that hair out, get pierced, change your name—

On this episode of, “Oh My God, Properly Tag Your Stuff, PLEASE!”

As someone who writes and interacts with “x reader” content, this is just another problem where some people just do not properly tag their stuff. I tag my “x reader” content as “reader insert” “(character) x reader,” and in the case of my most recent “x reader” fic with Ed from Street Fighter, I had to use “street fighter ed x reader” and “sf6 ed x reader,” because that name is so common that I need to specify what character that just so happens to be also named Ed. In addition to that, the fic in question has references to abuse, so I also provided the “tw abuse mention” tag if in case someone does not want to see it. In fact, if I missed a tag on that previous fic of other fics, let me know and I will add onto it.

As much as I do not like the generalized language the submitter used at the beginning, but at the same time, I can’t blame them for thinking that way. However, I’ve met many nice people who write this type of content and have tagged their content properly and like every corner in fandom, there’s always gonna be a bunch of poisoned apples that will try and ruin everything.

Here’s a personal example. You want to know how I know there was unnecessary drama and harassment campaigns in the “Leon Kennedy x Reader” related tags? Some of the toxic people that did this used those tags to start drama, hence why I don’t even bother going in those tags anymore and stick with A03 if I wanted to see Leon Kennedy x Reader content. It’s gotten so bad people that wanted to just read something nice and vanilla were like, “can you people not do this in THESE tags?!” So again, I get where the submitter is coming from, but we should NOT lump in the “x reader” writers in with the toxic people.

But TL:DR, not every “x reader” writer is an obnoxious person who doesn’t tag their stuff properly and let’s just tag our stuff the way it should be tagged.

Fandom Problem #8192:

People who write x reader/self-insert fix are some of the worst and most obnoxious people in fandom.

They can't tag for shit. I have every possible tag related to it blocked and I still see them.

I know that those kinds of fics give me the ick. I don't want to be involved in the fiction in any way and that's my problem to deal with. But I've seen people being proud of writing the most bland and uninteresting character "so that everyone can relate" If you enjoy that, more power to you I guess.

But holy fuck I shouldn't have to block four tags per character just to not see those fics. I've done massive blocking sprees and there are still so many.

Please just learn to tag with "x reader" or SOMETHING because I'm going mad over here

Edit: so I just realized I got WAYYY to aggressive with this post so here’s a follow up, can you guys please start tagging your fics correctly, if you don’t know how look it up or if I get enough people in my inbox asking me how I’ll drop a post on how to correctly tag your fic.

Another thing I would like to say is that if you don’t agree with something someone says don’t harass them, I’ve had so many people go to my inbox and just leave messages about how my writing sucks or about how I’ll never make it in life so at this point I feel like I’ve said something controversial.

Hey guys if you’re not tagging your stuff properly especially in fandom tags, people are gonna block you. Tags are the only way to filter content and when you don’t use them properly you mess up the filtration system on this site. The only other way to get your posts to go away is to block you.

I have blocked so many x reader fanfic authors because I just don’t want to see any x reader or character prompt stuff. But unfortunately a lot of these users are both young and new to tumblr and don’t seem to know (or maybe care) how this sites mechanics work. And they don’t tag any of their stuff properly so filters don’t work at all. So the only other way for me to get the spammy amount of x reader stuff out of fandom tags is to block every person that posts it. That’s literally the only other way.

If you don’t want to get blocked for really dumb reasons just tag your stuff correctly. Literally one x reader tag is all you need.

Like I don't like love triangles much anyways, but if I'm starved enough for a ship then I'll read it.

Except then I read the fic and have to realize a quarter of the way into it "oh the author actually hates this ship, they're just using it as flavor for the fic and for the ship they actually do like."

and that sucks.
