What's your favourite animal design so far in One Piece? Why do you like it above the others?

I like Oda’s sea king designs, particularly the black and white stripped one from the Calm Belt. It’s just one of those things that add to the seafaring adventure vibe, and like most things Oda gets wild and creative with it. It’s just really fun and whimsical while still feeling threatening

When it's time to part one says in norwegian "Takk for i dag" Thanks for today.

When people meet again they often say "Takk for sist" Thanks for last time to start a conversation (and use what happened 'this last time' as a starter).

Now listen. When Roche wins the battle in Flotsam, Iorveth calls him friend after he gave his heroic presumably 'last' speach. I can't get over this fr but that's not my point. My point is dolphins

Would Iorveth say "Takk for i dag"???? Like in this casual manner as it simply is the way to see someone off in norwegian. Would he unironically thank Roche for this wonderful battle, as it was a pleasure??

Would he do it in both versions, when he get's defeated AND when he wins? Like imagine Roche lying there and Iorveth be like: Was a lot of fun, what a great time, thanks for today ok bye.

The way you write narration and dialogue in Golden Hour is so .. poetic and it feels important and real, it has an impact on my feelings a lot and it seems the words are picked carefully. You just write sentences so beautifully and precisely, or mysteriously, it depends. Lately, "this routine emptiness, this grief for which there is no balm. We angels are constants, not made to grow and thus we cannot heal." has been on my mind a lot. It's devastating, it's horrible, i can glimpse at the inhumane grief and emptiness the angels experiences, it hits the nail on the head like a bolt of lightning! How you do you write like this? Do you have any favourite one-liners from Golden Hour? Love the comic, i think about it every day :)

Thank you! That particular passage is one of the most important to understanding the overall thesis of Golden Hour, and really highlights the motivations and limitations of many (if not all) characters, so I’m glad to hear it stuck out to you!

As far as how/why I write this way— I’m not really sure! I grew up with a family that spoke in a lot of metaphorical language because it’s sometimes easier to convey a message through it rather than direct example. Additionally, I enjoy reading a lot of classic lit, which is very helpful for getting in the rhythm of it.

That being said, I’m very grateful that GH is a story that allows me to write that way, as all the characters have a kind of mystical quality to them that permits a suspension of disbelief for their dialogue. I don’t think I could really write that way if it was a slice of life about high schoolers or something haha

I’ve been trying to think if I have a favorite passage, and I think the one you selected is definitely up there! To be honest though, I couldn’t really come up with one as my favorite, and have probably forgotten a lot of what I’ve written. As I’ve said though, the one you singled out is very important, so it had been thought about for a very long time before it was formed into the best sentence I could think of to convey their state of being.

Just found out "Takk for alt" is more often used at funerals or to signify the permanent sorrowful end of something so somehow years later Skam is yet again breaking my heart
