🌹 - When it comes to headcanons and fleshing out the canon, is there any particular part you like most? (Character backstories, worldbuilding, the supernatural aspects, etc.)

👻 - What is your headcanon / interpretation of whatever the deal is with Ghost’s parents?

I actually already answered the 🌹, but I think I can say more without being repetitive! It’s a lot of fun to see how my interpretations change as I get older and better understand myself and the real world. It makes me feel more comfortable with changing as much as possible, though I do hold dearly onto how I interpret the original canon. Sometimes, things are just a little more impactful if they’re a bit… Different.

Okay 👻 is really easy because I’ve been thinking So long and hard about it for like half a year now.

Gregory has three parents who raised him: T.Casket, Johnny Ghost (Sr.), and Peewee Ghost. T.Casket is his bio father, though he refused to say who the other parent was for reasons he did not explain. Casket died in an incident, and the Ghosts (family friends of T.Casket) took Gregory, now John bc he refuses to answer to anything else after being referred to as a John Doe, in. Ghost Senior died encountering what would later become Jimmy Casket, and Peewee became his sole caretaker. He might be still alive in the ‘current timeline’, but I’m not sure yet. Ghost’s primary issue is his memory, which started becoming really spotty after… something that happened when he was 11 (possessed by Jimmy Casket), so no matter how many times he has his own life explained to him, it’ll always wind up muddled in his head. (Peewee gave up trying to refresh the kid’s memory after realizing the thing possessing his son was using his history to hurt both Gregory and Peewee.) Toast has learned to be patient with him.

So yeah! Basically he’s had three dads, Peewee is a nickname but the man who had it did exist in Ghost’s life, the fact that there are two Johnnies in the house at a time was from J.Ghost Sr. Calling him Mini-Johnny until he got attached to the nickname. Gregory might have been partially supernatural, seeing as T.Casket had an affinity for the supernatural, but he doesn’t really show signs of it.

🌹 - When it comes to headcanons and fleshing out the canon, is there any particular part you like most? (Character backstories, worldbuilding, the supernatural aspects, etc.)

Hehehe, i think I wear my heart on my sleeve for this one, but it’s absolutely developing, defining, and designing the characters— especially minor ones. Any time I get the change I go apeshit for the idea of getting to introduce someone new to the world because of all the POSSIBILITIES on how they can interact with each other and what stories can come out of it.

Also, making everyone look visually distinct but similar enough to where you can see where they connect? So much fun. Finding new ways to make references to things in the series that don’t always get considered, usually for obvious reasons. (Like I used to draw Spencer as a blond, I still give Sue scars from having a ski mask sewn to her face, Katrina will always be wearing something with white on it, and Light Zeron has a period of time where he turns incredibly pale and loses a lot of his hair bc of the sickly model used in one of his videos. There might be other stuff but these things come to mind first.) Stuff like this is an immense part of the creative process for me, and I have sooooo much fun with it ^^

I also like exchanging people’s roles, too. I have a story where Maddie is in PIE, where Spencer is in PIE, where people who are normally chill are villainous or righteous and vice-versa… this does have some exceptions depending on who the character is— Gavin can either embrace or work to destroy DIE if approached, but can never be impartial— but I like having more extreme characters mellow out and more mellow characters reach their limit. It’s fun!

NGL i was literally Just making new designs for when I want to do stuff that the fandom tends to agree on that doesn’t fit with my own world that way I can still draw them in Situations without having to say ‘Well, it doesn’t work in MY canon, but I still think it’s REALLY COOL, DON’T STOP—‘ bc i feel like that comes off as condescending fghjdskak

Also giving joke characters dramatic or traumatic backstories. I gave the toilet ghost depression and I don’t regret it!

Is Maddie at all included in your version of the canon? How does she feel about William?

Madelyn met William when they were both young. She insists that they kept bumping into each other growing up, but William's memory on the specifics of each encounter are fuzzy. Madelyn believes that these repeat meetings are fate, and that her and William must have some sort of future together.

Mads and Will do become pretty close during highschool, considering each other best friends before medical school splits them up (as they go to different colleges). They try and keep in touch, but you know how medical school is. There's inevitably a period of time where neither of them speak to one another.

During her time away from William though, Madelyn makes some discoveries about herself,, and it's that wow, she was experiencing some mad comphet. She completely subscribed herself to the fate belief, and she does love William, but having the time away from him opens her eyes to the fact that she really does just view the man as family.

William knew about the fate shit and actively chose to the ignore it unless it became a problem. Thankfully it didn't. Once both are graduated they plan a little coffee date to try and make up for the time lost and Madelyn comes out as a lesbian and ofc, William is supportive and happy for her when she explains that she has a date later in the week with someone she met on campus.

Madelyn's nickname is Mads & only William calls her this, likewise she's the only one that calls him Will.

Madelyn is unaware that William is an angel, but very aware that his sister Sal is a demon.

Madelyn's partner is Tyler, Josh's sibling. Tyler is nonbinary and uses they/them and gender neutral pronouns. ("how is Madelyn a lesbian if she's dating a nonbinary person? Isn't that invalidating both of their identities?" I hear a strawman I made up in my head say. My answer: "the intersection of sexuality and gender is more complex than you think. Don't worry about it.")

Madelyn's hobby is crafts, specializing in paper mache.
