☆ Do you guys think if Pit dies Dark Pit would die with him? I know Pit nearly dies in Uprising but he was still technically breathing at the time. Meaning he's still alive and therefore Dark Pit would have been fine on his own until the moment Pit actually died.

I mean like this is just an idea and I dunno how much I actually like it but think about it.

A reflection can't exist on it's own. You can't reflect something that isn't there. Plus we have the proof of the two being connected somehow. Again I bring up when Pit was trapped in the ring: Dark Pits mind and soul were thrown out of sync with his body when Pits mind and soul were removed from his. For those three years Dark Pit was barely aware, barely conscious. He couldn't do anything just like Pit couldn't do anything while basically in stasis inside the ring.

So in the hypothetical scenario of Pit dying, all signs seem to point to Dark Pit dying with him.

A final post of the day for the moment

An actual opinion? On this pointless blog? Yeah yeah I know, okay. Vampires. Vampires as an illness are something I kind of picked up from project moon with bloodfiends and their portrayal in canto VII so it's safe to say I have a fair few thoughts here. As well some things from Tsukihime. Tsukihime treats vampirism as an unnatural existence spawned either by the Earth itself in a case like True Ancestors/Arc with Dead Apostles being the pretty strong walking blood bag for the TA in question. TA's do not themselves require blood as per Arc but do feel a ever increasing thirst in their unending lives. Dead Apostles being walking corpses start just about every day with a heart attack and a genuine NEED for blood of another as preservation and suffer the same increasing need as the TA's that spawned them initially creating a scaling issue. These are things with a human heart if you can't reject that you won't ever make it as a dead apostle this is best shown to us via Satsuki in tsukihime as she suffers this unfortunate fate and our protagonist Shiki has no choice but to put her to rest. She would kill, and keep killing without an end in sight hating herself all the way. Sad as it is, it is an illness like any other and this makes for a neat parallel with the illness of the Tohno family the all consuming maddening sickness vile in SHIKI/Roa that it offsets actual possession in the far side routes. Project moon treats this...much the same? Strangely but it acts on a familial structure with the first kindred who does not feel thirst as heavily it would seem due to their immense strength but all others spawned into the family certainly do. It is a spread illness transmitted amongst a twisted family which leads to regret and even rebellion to such a degree there's even a phrase for it in "filial impiety". This isn't a thing in tsukihime. the EXPECTATION is that a dead apostle obey on the threat of strength alone but there is no true binding to the creator as there is in the structure of something like the Mancha family. They both spread but type moon takes vampirism as an exclusive yet dangerous disease in how it creates dead who are essentially the same as pm blood bags. Vampirism IS an illness both of the mind and body so one only finds pity for those who have it. In my mind at the least it presents an interesting thought to twist, turn, and shape to my heart's desire that day but remembering the ugly horror of something inhuman which once was and the true loss is something I can't quite formulate at this moment but I hope this post is enough for all to get to know some of my thinking. It destroys one to think without consideration.

i know that a lot of people are just haha funny joking when they say it but the way that "our brains don't fully mature until we're 25 and once we hit that age we go through some near magical shift in perception and personality" and "maturity, rationality and the nebulous and virtuous concept of so called common sense are dependent on brain development and thus biologically determined" have entered as widely accepted ideas into both our language and culture with practically no meaningful pushback is both deeply concerning and infuriating.

Congressional staffers in the US are finally being gotten through to - in spite of their rampant greed and long-suffering inhumanity, even they can recognise when their phones won't stop ringing with people saying flat out they'll never vote for them again.

☆ A follow up on my "Dark Pit only learns to read to spite Pit" post from a while ago

I've decided Viridi's domain/temple/whatever she's got has a BIG ASS library somewhere in it. Dark Pit got bored one day and while wandering he stumbled across it and just looked around for a while. He tried to read the titles of the books but just flat out couldn't and got really frustrated and left. At some point later on while Viridi is having him help her with something she notices he's carrying a few books around and keeps getting distracted by them. She asks what the hell he's doing and he tells her to mind her damn business. This is when she remembers that Pit can't read and realizes that means Dark Pit can't either. Since Viridi is an asshole she probably starts teasing him abt it for a minute and he gets all pissy and shoves the books off to the side, saying reading is stupid anyways or some shit. But then Viridi says if he really wants to learn she can help him with the basics n junk. It takes a minute but he (begrudgingly) accepts and later on she does teach him a few things to set him up to keep learning on his own. Which he does and thoroughly enjoys doing so.

When questioned about why he wanted to learn to read in the first place, Dark Pit admits it had something to do with Pit at first. Either wanting to have something more to set himself apart from his mirrored half or wanting to have something to hold over him to "prove" he's better but now it's just something he does for fun. He likes reading and enjoys learning to do so.

....Buuutttt it is still a nice bonus to now be able to mock Pit for still not being able to read.

what's washington's eagle?

One of Audubon's unidentified birds, a very large sea eagle with a 10 foot wingspan. He claimed to have spotted them very rarely - suggesting they were nearly extinct - before he managed to shoot and dissect/paint one, which he described in detail:

This is often modernly explained as Audubon not understanding that young bald eagles lack the white head and thinking they were a new species. I personally think that's bullshit; not only does the bird only very superficially resemble a bald or golden eagle (some of the traits including a lack of mottling and an abnormally prominent supraorbital ridge along with, of course, it being huge), he was entirely familiar with juvenile bald eagles and painted/described them accurately:

more reasonably, it's been suggested he made up a giant american eagle (audubon's paintings are all life size so this would be very impressive in a gallery, and of course an eagle is very immediately evocative) in order to impress investors and plagiarized the illustration entirely rather than drawing it from life:

the other option, of course, is that he wasn't bullshitting and there really was a very large, near-extinct eagle in north america at the time that he described accurately; apparently a specimen or two were even listed in museum archives at the time (hence my comparison to the long-necked seal).
