Another Linked Universe Headcanon/idea!

Girls born into the Royal Family are all named Zelda as a tradition (that only became genuine law in the Decline Timeline). Whenever there is more than one living Zelda, the eldest one keeps the name, while the others take on other names, usually their middle name but not always.

Lullaby (Time's Zelda) doesn't remember her non-Zelda name anymore. She was so young when she lost her mother, and was so confused when everybody started calling her a different name.

Tetra, when she returned to her ship at the end of Wind Waker, ordered her pirates to share any stories and traditions they knew about the old Hyrule, as she did have interest and respect for the drowned kingdom (if she didn't, she wouldn't have kept the name). She regretted this order when Gonzo shared the name tradition, meaning all the crew thought they had to start calling her Zelda now. This is the reason for the opening scene in Phantom Hourglass.

Dot only just became Zelda a few months before Minish Cap started. In truth, she wasn't comfortable with everyone in Hyrule Town calling her Zelda, though she hid her discomfort well. Only Link/Four still called her Dot, and he still calls her Dot to this day, three journeys later, and while traveling with the Chain.

I like the general fandom trend to just take the plot of Hyrule Warriors as a loose guideline at best and just use the whole concept as a good excuse to get blorbos to interact across timelines, BUT I'm very disappointed that everyone is missing the comedic potential of a very specific squad of characters:

Young Link (aka Mask), who walks out of the nightmare of Majora's Mask and immediately gets portal kidnapped into a temporal war, takes one look at the whole mess and decides that you could not fucking pay him to admit to being the resident expert on Time Shenanigans. He introduces himself with the title of Hero of Termina, and definitely doesn't have any other ones, that would be crazy. Hero of Time? Never heard of him.

Tetra, who is a kickass pirate captain with zero patience for people trying to shove her into the Designated Princess role, and realizes immediately that Oh Fuck, this Hyrule has a lot of Ideas about how the Hero and the Princess are supposed to properly play their parts, the second they realize she's technically a Zelda they're gonna shove her in a goddamn dress and damsel her again, that's not happening. So she's definitely just a really cool pirate captain, nothing else going on here at all, definitely not the heir of the Hylian royal family in her time, that'd be crazy.

Ravio, who is literally just a palette swapped Link, meaning that the second his hood comes off, things are gonna get Awkward. There's no way in hell he's dealing with all that Hero baggage, that's Link work, so that giant bunny hood/mask is practically superglued to his head, and he's not taking it off for love or money.

Spirit Tracks Zelda, who is just in the Phantom Armour the whole time, and passing herself off as just a friendly ghost posessing a suit of armour to help the Hero of Spirits. Of course she isn't Princess Zelda, that's ridiculous, if she were a Zelda then people would start getting really weird about her technically being dead, and boy does that ever sound like a whole Thing she doesn't want to deal with, so she can't possibly be Zelda, she's just a nice ghost knight. Also, her teenage grandma is here, and that's kinda weird, so it's easier to just not admit to being royalty and avoid that awkward conversation.

Finally there's Sheik, who is not the Princess Zelda of the era straight up abandoning her war torn country for months at a time so she can risk her life in extreme cosplay for no clear reason, but is instead the actual Sheik from Ocarina of Time, who just beat Ganondorf like a month ago and is still trying to process what the fuck to do now. Also, he's been pretending to be a boy since he was ten, and is realizing there's a pretty good chance that he isn't pretending anymore, so that's a whole other can of worms. But for the last seven years of his life, being Princess Zelda meant certain death, so he's not really inclined to introduce himself like when in a new and stressful situation (not to mention he might actually just not be a girl named Zelda anymore), so he automatically introduces himself as just Sheik the spooky ninja man, and fuck he's in too deep to back out now, looks like he's committing to the bit. If you think you sense the Triforce of Wisdom on him, no you don't.

Cue shenanigans as the five of them attempt to hide that they're all actually kind of A Big Deal. The group motto is "Nobody says shit", which is usually delivered as a frantic hiss whenever someone slips up. Just the reunion between Sheik and Mask alone would be absolutely buckwild given how they parted, and how they're both frantically pretending to Not be involved with each other. For added hilarity and/or drama, Sheik gives his semi-bullshit cover story of having just been a friend of the Hero of Time, then runs into said Hero of Time and they both have to desperately pretend not to know each other, because if anyone picks up on the mountain of baggage between them then Mask is busted, and he won't hesitate to drag Sheik down with him out of sheer spite. Not to mention the weird balance of Sheik being used to this Link being a teenager that's actually a small child, and now has to adjust to Link who is a small child that's actually a teenager.

Also, i really feel like we're all missing out on the comedy potential of Ganondorf recognizing Young Link on sight and the two of them immediately launching into a grudge match with some extremely personal and specific insults on both sides. Meanwhile literally everybody else is just standing there watching, trying to process the fact that out of every single person that's been pulled out of time, Ganondorf only has personal beef with a literal nine year old.

I just feel like we're all really sleeping on the potential for Shenanigans here. The whole thing is an absurd mess, why not have some fun with it?

“...”

“Uh, Captain? Link?”

“...”

“Link? Hello?”

The older hero still doesn’t reply, staring blankly at his sword in his lap. He’d been cleaning it, but had stopped a few minutes ago, and was now just staring off into space, eyes distant.

Tune leans over and snaps his fingers in his face, and that finally brings him out of it, the captain practically jumping out of his seat at the noise.

“There you are,” Tune says once the captain calms down and puts the dagger away. “Glad to have you back in the land of the living. You know you’ve been acting kind of weird today, right?”

Link blinks at him, then shrugs. “Guess I’ve just been busy.”

Tune narrows his eyes. “Uh huh. The thing is, you’re always busy, but you don’t always act like this. Which means... something’s up,” Tune deduces, and Link’s expression turns wearied for about two seconds before he fixes his face.

“It’s just the usual, sailor. Don’t worry about it,” Link murmurs.

“The usual with you is like ten different things.”

Link looks away.

“Captain? ...Please?” Tune tries.

Link just shakes his head. “I really have just been busy, Tune. Don’t worry about it, okay?”

Tune sighs and is about to argue more, but then a low growl floats through the air, making him pause. Link freezes, and Tune looks around in confusion before he zeroes in on the captain’s stomach.

The growl rings out from it again, and Tune gives Link a sharp look, the captain quickly averting his gaze.

“Captain. When was the last time you ate anything?” Tune asks slowly.

“I’ve been busy,” Link mutters, “I didn’t have time to eat lunch.”

Tune gives him a poke. “And what about breakfast?”

“...maybe also breakfast.”

“I don’t actually remember you eating dinner last night either,” Mask adds as he walks by, and Link sends a glare in his direction.

“You haven’t eaten in almost a day?” Tune asks sharply.

Link shrugs, shifting in his seat. “...Something like that.”

“It’s been longer?!”

Link shrugs again, and Tune stands up and matches over to him, grabbing his arm and hauling him to his feet.

“Come on captain, we’re getting you food,” he says in as much of a big-brother voice as he can muster. “I don’t care if you’re busy or whatever, you can’t just not eat.”

“I’m busy Tune. And besides, I’m not even hungry,” Link begins to argue, but then his stomach growls again, even louder than before.

“...Right.”

Tune wastes no time in dragging the older Link across camp, ignoring his weak protests and never relinquishing his grip. Amused glances are cast at them as Tune drags Link by the wrist, and Tune notices with no small satisfaction that the captain’s ears are turning rather red. And when he finally reaches his target, Link’s protests sputter and die.

Tetra is sitting at a fire and already eating something, and as he trots up, she looks over and raises an eyebrow.

“Would you mind making sure he stays here?” Tune asks, and Tetra shrugs, picking something out of her teeth.

“Sure swabbie. But what’s the occasion?”

“This dope hasn’t eaten in at least a day,” Mask pipes up, and Tetra gives the oldest Link a Look. He starts off holding his ground, but nobody can stand up to Tetra’s Look, not even a hero of courage, and he soon wilts under it.

“I’ll watch him.”

“Thanks Tetra!” Tune smiles, and Mask pulls the captain down to sit, he and Tetra squishing him between them.

Tune nods, satisfied the captain is suitably trapped, then scampers off to go find a reasonable amount of food for him. It’s about dinner time anyway, so hunting down some food isn’t too hard, luckily. The only real problem is that nothing Tune can find is particularly filling. Plus he’s pretty sure the captain needs meat, he’s part dragon after all.

Does he need a lot of meat? Has he even been eating enough meat for a regular person? I wonder if Impa has any clue about what he should be eating...

Zelda walks by as he’s puzzling through all this, and seeing him look rather lost, asks what’s wrong. Tune explains the problem, and Zelda’s brows lower as she hears that Link hasn’t eaten in at least a day. A look equally worried and determined lands on her face, and she promises she’ll be back with some meat before striding off. Leaving Tune blinking in surprise behind her.

He gathers some other food while he waits, but only has to wait a few minutes before the princess returns, a large, uncooked steak in hand.

“Wh— where did you get that?” Tune asks in astonishment, and Zelda smiles.

“I have my ways. I only wish I’d gotten a cooked one, but I suppose this will do.“

Tune leads the way back to the campfire where Tetra is, and sees that Lana’s joined their group, telling them all some kind of tale. Link still looks weary, but there’s a small smile on his face as he listens, and Tune is relieved at the way he seems to have perked up a little.

He’s been so gloomy lately... it’s nice seeing him at least a little happier.

Zelda sits down next to Lana to listen to her story, and Tune pauses in his musings on Link and of how to cook the meat, setting the plate down for a mere moment as he begins to be drawn into the tale.

He should’ve known better.

Link’s nose twitches, and his eyes zero in on the meat, pupils dilating. It happens so fast Tune almost misses it, but one minute the meat is sitting on the plate, and the next it’s gone, and the captain is swallowing something with a satisfied look on his face.

Tune stares.

Mask stares.

Princess Zelda and Lana also stare, stunned into silence.

Tetra looks delighted.

“What?” Link asks as they all stare at him, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand.

“That... uh. That was raw,” Tune says, equal wonder and disgust coming through in his voice.

“Completely raw,” Tetra continues, a grin on her face. “Good goddesses Captain, I knew you were hungry, but even I know not to just eat a raw steak.”

“In one bite,” Mask says with a bit of wonder.

Link blinks, and looks down at his hands. A look of pure mortification forms on his face as he realizes exactly what he just did, and he slowly looks around at their group, his entire face flushing as his gaze comes to rest on Princess Zelda.

...Who looks like she’s trying her best not to burst into uncontrollable laughter.

Lana is giggling uproariously into her hands beside her, but somehow Zelda manages to hold it together, the slightest twitch of her lip the only thing betraying her mirth. Tune wouldn’t even have picked up on that if he wasn’t so good at picking expressions out from card players.

“I suppose this means we don’t need to spend any time cooking,” she says remarkably straight-faced, and the captain groans, putting his face into his hands.

“I’m... uh,” he begins, ears turning pink. “I’m sorry, I have no clue... I was only going to take a bite, I didn’t realize—”

“Relax dragon-boy, you carnivores need your meat,” Tetra drawls.

Everyone freezes, and swings their heads towards Tetra, eyes going wide. Link’s blush swerves into the color draining from his face, and Zelda and Lana exchange sharp looks.

Tetra raises an eyebrow. “What?”

“Who... told you about the... dragon thing?” Tune asks, lowering his voice at the end. He certainly didn’t, and as far as he knows, it hasn’t left this circle of people. But if Tetra knows, then it must have somehow, which means... who else knows?

Tetra hums, and flicks dust off her vest. “Nobody. I have my ways, and a pirate never reveals her secrets.”

“Secrets, sure. I bet you just heard Link’s sneezing the other week,” Mask says flatly, and Tetra gives him her signature wink.

“Perhaps. But if you’re worried about it getting out, don’t. I don’t go around spreading rumors,” she says with a steady look at Link. “Relax, Scales.”

“That still doesn’t explain how you found out,” Tune says. Tetra looks at him, and he knows she heard the seriousness in his voice. This is information that needs to not be spread.

“Relax, Link. I just heard the general yelling at Volga in that battle the other day, I put two and two together.”

Somehow their spot goes even more quiet at her words, and Tune sighs at the look on the captain’s face. His father’s identity weighs on him heavily, but his mother’s... it’s almost worst, in a way. Tune isn’t sure of who knows about that part of the story, but he’s pretty it’s just himself and Link.

And Lana probably, but she knows everything.

Tetra doesn’t seem to be aware of that particular tidbit though, and she crosses her arms with a smirk.

“Yeah yeah, I know, it’s rough. You’re not the only one who’s found out some family thing about yourself and had your world turned on its head,” she hums, and Lana gives her an interested look.

“Oh... that’s right. I’d forgotten you didn’t know of your birthright as the princess,” she says, and Tetra gives her a sharp look.

“Yeah, and don’t go spreading that around,” she snaps.

Link looks like he’d rather be anywhere but here as the conversation goes from family secrets to Tetra and Lana having an argument on princess-y matters, and Tune pats him on the shoulder.

“Do you need anything else to eat, or was that enough?” he asks. Link shrugs, looking at his feet.

Tune frowns at the lack of response, and leans over and grabs the plate he’d gotten with some other food, handing it to Link.

“She won’t tell anyone,” he reassures as Link reluctantly takes the plate. “And she only knows about Volga. I can tell.”

“It seems like everyone’s been able to just figure this out except for me,” Link mutters, and Tune hears the bitterness in it.

“Most of us hadn’t met you or Volga before the war started,” he reminds him, Tetra and Lana still loudly arguing behind them. He gives them an exasperated look, then turns back to Link. “Nobody knew you were similar because nobody had met the both of you.“

Link stares at his plate. “And how similar am I to Volga?”

His voice is more fragile now, and Tune takes his hand, looking Link in the eye.

“Hey. You’re not like Volga,” he says firmly. “You’re not either of your parents. You and Volga have similarities because he’s your father, but his actions are his, not yours. You’re your own person, Link, Impa and Volga don’t define who you are. Only you do. And whatever you’re thinking about in regards to you and Volga being similar... don’t, okay? You have the same blood, but that doesn’t mean you have the same morals or anything,” he finishes softly.

Link looks at him, and he gives a silent nod, Tune squeezing his hand.

He doesn’t know if he got through to the older hero at all, but he can hope at least. Talks like this work on Tetra about half of the time, and if Tune can get lucky and get through her hard-headed snark, he can hopefully get through Link’s defenses.

“Thanks Tune,” Link says as he picks at more food, pointedly taking small bites. “For... all of this.”

“No problem, captain,” Tune replies with a smile. “Just... know that Mask is probably going to spread the story of the raw steak through the entire camp.”

The captain groans, but it’s more good-natured than anything. “I’m not going to be able to live that down, am I.”

“Nope. But maybe next time you’ll eat something before you get so hungry you eat an entire raw steak in one bite,” Tune says slyly, and Link snorts, giving him a light elbow.

He goes back to eating, looking much better than before, and laughs along with the others when Mask joins the argument between Tetra and Lana, the former of whom doesn’t seem to appreciate Mask’s attitude. She lunges for him and Mask shrieks, but there’s a devious look in his eyes as he tries desperately to avoid Tetra’s noogie.

He smirks at Tune when the captain laughs again, and Tune grins in return, watching the two of them wrestle.

Tetra sends him a wink as well, and they all spend the rest of the evening in easy comradery, teasing Link over his taste of raw meat, Lana telling more tales, Zelda moving to sit beside Link.

Tune looks back on that evening years later as one of the happiest of the entire war.

Random LU/LU au headcanons that I really like:

Four is the actual oldest. Just, the irony of the team's shortest being a man in his mid thirties? Beautiful.

None of them is 'normal', none. They each appeared to be, depending on the occasion, but none of them is normal.

Wild, Time and Legend suffer from the resting bitch face syndrome. Well resting blank face, as I prefer to call it. It's just how they looks when they're relaxed. They do tend to make somewhat of an cold first impression because of it.

Time's age doesn't match his appearance. But he isn't older then he looks, he's younger. He somehow got stuck as a kid after Termina and resulted to magical intervention (again) to grow up. If it overshot by a few years or seven... Well at least he's tall now, and the difference between 18 and 25 isn't that obvious anyway.

Time also get his marks and lost his eye somewhere around that 'second growth spurt'. He never told people how exactly he got them, because he isn't entirely sure either. The whole few weeks around that time are a blurry mess in his memory. Same with his exact age, he doesn't know because he's adopted by a tree, and trees aren't the best at keeping Hylian months.

Wild doesn't have visible scars, like at all, not before the shrine and not after. It is actually unnerving how he heals completely. However the scars does shows up if you use any kind of truth revealing items. Like Legends magic mirror or Time's mask/lens. And Robbie's goggles too. Under those lenses Wild glows with Sheikah tech blue, because there's so many patches that the shrine of resurrection has to make.

On the topic of healing, Wild consumes food the way Master Cycle Zero consumes fuel. He doesn't need to eat physical to heal, just burns them through his slate. It's just one of the things that became his new normal after the shrine. He's part divine beast now...

Wind owns a eye patch and wears black 'eyeliner'. The eye patch is for battle on a ship, to keep one eye acclaimed to darkness in case they need to barge under deck. The black paint under the eyes is for reducing glare from the waves, according to Tetra at least. Obviously he don't wear the eye patch when he's on land, but still.

Wild (and most of the chain too, actually) gets non-verbal when they're stressed. Tho the others have more experience with managing communication, and Wild just, never needed to.

Sky needs that much naps because he sleeps very poorly. Out of everyone in the chain he is the surprising insomniac, staying up well past midnight and sometimes crashing in mid day as a result. Sleeping with others close by helps tho, small mercies.

Firstly, I tend to be slow on posts and/or replies, but that doesn't mean I ignored you! I just happen to have pretty much an adult life with a job(as an English teacher! :D) and whatnot, while also managing my time online among different things I like to do, so all I ask for is a little patience ^^;

I’ve been the past 3 to 6 months working out all the lore and plots, so there is quite a bunch I have to yap abt it XD I’m hoping to translate the story into a comic, as I haven’t published anything anywhere yet. I draw in PowerPoint mainly and hope to get my comic published with PowerPoint art still >:3 I’m not particularly the best at art, so I can’t guarantee the most amazing visual quality, but I am doing my best so the outcome contains at least a good story ^^ There will be many OCs from my friends included, so expect credits with considerable size XDDDD My production process might be slow for reasons stated above, but I’ve been doing my best to ensure it’s still going for the very least! As of now, I am running a QnA to which I’m a bit slow to answer, but am still working my best on it! Feel free to read the replies so far! FACTIONS

Glorious Municipalities of Tetra, United by Strength, Bolstered by Valor: City-states divided by internal war, held together by provoking external conflict & a shared sense of their own superiority.

United Chkr'gh Republic (UCR): Parasitic isopods who discovered bioengineering before mechanical engineering, and their non-sentient hosts.

Republic of Umbra: A military oligarchy on Thalassa - an offshoot of Tetra that has become their main rival for space and resources.

Splendor Solis: Both the space station orbiting Auzm and the society of robot clone brothers living there.

The Family: Nomadic space death cult, dedicated to spreading across the entire universe, forever.

MAIN CHARACTERS

Natalina, Untitled Servant to the Glorious Municipalities of Tetra, Eldest of the Family Cirdonius, Who Served Her Three With Devotion (Talia): Birdie's main character. She/Faer. A Power in our Kingdom. Fled Tetra to Glorandrina Station after being involved in the assasination of the Queen.

Amaranto De Las Gardenias (Amara): Mariana's main character. She/Her. A Perspective in our Kingdom. She was stationed as Umbra's diplomat on Glorandrina Station to foil her ambitions in their government.

Citrinitas Model 3 Bismuth Series 3 (Citrine - the only name he knows he has): Pax's main character. He/Him. A Touchstone in our Kingdom. He grew up on Glorandrina Station with his older brother & is the main station mechanic and everybody's best friend.

The Bishop Junyvain Whitstrid, who Was of the ship Diligence, Cast out of The Family but still part of the One and the All (June): Molly's main character. She/Her. A Power in our Kingdom. Landed on Glorandrina Station after surviving a freak accident and has made herself the chaplain.

Xycht'mg (Xycht or Y): Maiden's main character. Any pronouns. A Perspective in our Kingdom. A hotshot Ch'krgh surgeon who came to Glorandrina Station during xer volunteer sabbatical.

I return with a short list of headcannons

Twilight has anemia. He is so pale despite being a farm boy and the only farm boy I knew who was as pale as him also had anemia. Give this boy some iron supplements pls.

You may think Wild and Hyrule are the problem children when together, but if you added Four it's as if you sent three overly hyper children into a candy store. Zero brain cells are to be found.

Every bird loves Sky. Every. Single. One. He has Disney princess vibes.

Warriors cannot sing for the life of him. You know Scuttle from the Little Mermaid? Thats what he sounds like.

Fairies love Hyrule and Time so much that it isn't uncommon to see the small balls of light attempt to "kidnap" them. (Which in reality is just them repeatedly hitting themselves against the two since they can't push them, and it's adorable.)

Time, in his youth, would starve himself since he was so used to eating very little. Malon threatened to throw a cow at him if he didn't start eating. Time hasn't starved himself since.

Wind believes babies come from storks and I will die on that hill.

Legend, despite what many others headcannon for him, is religious. I like to think that he doesn't worship Hylia, but Farore.

Twilight is also religious, but for the light spirits. I like to think that Ordon's religion is simular to our paganism.

All the Links (minus Legend and Wind) experienced horrible sea sickness when they first got on Tetra's boat.

Twilight has a prosthetic arm after his arm was cut off during his adventure. You know the "need a hand" joke? That's how he revealed his prosthetic to the chain. He threw his arm to Sky, causing the man to pass out out of shock and horror (since Skyloft hasn't made the medical advancements for prosthetics!)

Cats love the Links, even if Four is deathly afraid of them. It's because the remlets loved Sky back when they existed.

- Oooh Twilight with anemia is interesting. I personally headcanon that Twilight has one of the darkest skin tones of the bunch, along with Sky and Hyrule, while Legend and Time are the two palest

- Four to me gives off incredibly responsible energy, but when you pair him with someone else, he goes nuts and gets real silly real quick

- SKY DISNEY PRINCESS REAL. That boy has sung and held out his hand and a bird has landed in it, I just know it.

- I actually have a fic series I wrote where Wars was just completely tone deaf but did not let that stop him from screaming along to the radio. I think normal Wars would secretly be a decent singer but be bad on purpose because its a skill he’s anxious about

- I headcanon that fairies will just it in Time’s hair and let him walk around and carry them, and that they also do this to Hyrule and Wild as well

- I have a similar headcanon that Time used to only live off of nuts and fruits and cried the first time he saw Malon kill a cow for food. He’s over it now, but he’s still upset if he has to see it happen and will not kill an animal himself

- WIND ABSOLUTELY BELIEVES THAT AND I THINK HE’D CRY IF SOMEONE TOLD HIM OTHERWISE

- As far as the Links and religion go, I don’t think any of the hate Hylia, I think some are a bit bitter but I think at the end of the day they all know its not her fault. And yes to Legend worshipping Farore and Twilight the light spirits!

- I would like to add that I don’t think Wild would get sea sick. But all the others? Dead. Gone actually. One boat ride and they’re on the floor. Sky’s been in boats before but he hates them

2. who was your first ever Blorbo, who was your childhood Blorbo, and are they still your Blorbo?

I’d say my first/childhood blorbos were ummmm. Tetra from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker and Pearl from Steven Universe. Tetra I still like but she’s more a character I have more of a distant childhoodfondness for than an active blorbo. But I was obsessed with her and as a child it stressed me out so much that she got turned into hyperfeminine whitewashed Zelda for a portion of the game NjNSISJXJIS

Pearl from Steven Universe however is still actually one of my top blorbos to this day because Steven Universe has special interest privileges. She’s blorbo ground zero blorbo to me. She irreversibly altered my brain chemistry at age 11 & her existence is like single-handedly responsible for my sexuality and gender awakening i cannot stress this enough. The first ever SU episode i saw was “Rose’s Scabbard” and i was immediately like extremely compelled by her tragic gay devoted yearning for Steven’s dead mom. I think it’s funny that was what my queer awakening ultimately was, because while is witnesses canon lesbians in media before the fact Pearl was all tormented and unrequited and messy about it was what really spoke to me. When she wore a suit in Mr. Greg 11 year old me nearly died on impact I cannot stress this enough. Hilariously I feel she continues to be the blueprint of my taste in blorbo to this day I feel whenever I tell anyone I liked Pearl Steven Universe as a kid they’re all like yeah that makes complete sense.

LoZ - Inheritance of the Cycle

I tend to think that Link, Zelda, & Ganondorf are all reincarnating.

But not just reincarnating, but reincarnating through their own bloodlines.

And I recently learned about something that would give a decent explanation for why. At least for Link & Zelda.

Epigenetics.

See, epigenetics says that when an animal or person experiences stress as a result of something, their young will be more adapted to combating whatever caused that stress in the first place.

This happens even if that young is conceived long after the stress is gone.

So, logically speaking, this would mean that because (in my hc) the Triforce Trio are always the biological descendents of at least one of their predecessors, this new incarnation is biologically more prepared for their destiny. At least, Link & Zelda always are anyway.

Because this would mean that Link & Zelda are more ready to protect Hyrule in every subsequent reincarnation.

Even Wind Link is a descendant of a previous Link, just not Time Link. Rather, he's a descendant of Four Link if we concider his family's shield being identical to the sheild that Dot won for Four to be a possible indication of such.

I believe that the game said that it was passed down in their family "from the hero." However, I don't think it really ever specifies which hero.

Of course, because of this, almost all Links are also related to their Zeldas (at least, somewhere down the line) due to Sky & Sun getting hitched. After them is Four & Dot, Hyrule & his Zelda (he has both Dawn & Aurora, but I've zero idea who he's paired with), Wind & Tetra, Spirit & Phantasma (from Spirit Tracks), Warriors & Artemis, then Wild & Flora who I believe also all got married to each other.

Though, thankfully, almost each reincarnation is at least 100 years apart from their previous incarnation.

In fact, the only Links we know are related directly are Wind & Four, then Time & Twilight. We also know that Wind, Legend, & Hyrule aren't Time's direct descendants due to Wind being from the Adult Timeline (in which Time was sent back in time & thus left behind no children to take his place in the Adult one unless he did some "extracurricular quests") & Legend & Hyrule being from the Downfall Timeline (in which Time, presumably, died before having left behind a child; again, unless he got up to some "extracurricular questing").

Though, I very strongly hc that Wild is descended from Twilight & that Rusl is a descendant of Four.

Other than that? I only know that each Link is descended from either First or Sky & Sun in one way or another. Just not if they are descended from any other Link.

Zelda, though? We almost always know that each Zelda is descended from the previous Zelda. Except for Dawn, who is almost certainly descended from Aurora's brother.

However, OoT Ganondorf didn't get the option because I believe that he was the first.

Either way, Ganondorf almost never gets to provide his successors with this particular benefit due to either being sealed or getting killed in the only fight he has with Link. And due to the way that epigenetic works, any children he may have had before fighting Time wouldn't have gotten the benefits of the stress of fighting Time because, obviously, Ganondorf wouldn't have fought him yet.

Except for WW Ganon, who could've had a kid during the time before facing Wind, which would give HW & TotK the boon from WW Ganon having faced Time in battle.

It's also possible that so could TP Ganon if my theory that he escaped being captured in the Child Timeline before being arrested is true. Because in such an instance, there was most likely a 7 year war between Time returning to the Child Timeline & Ganondorf being executed because I believe that Time was the one who managed to defeat Ganon & retreive him for judgement in the end.

Though, the only real evidence of this is the fact that Young Ganondorf is portrayed with short hair, but the Ganondorf of TP has long enough hair to be able to put them in grandma rollers (I cannot unsee it & I will never let him live that down) & the fact that the Hero's Shade is shown wearing what appears to be heavy armor. Of course, these 2 details could very well be entirely unrelated, but I'm proposing that they aren't.

In such an instance, so long as he left behind an heir during the Era of Twilight, then it could still work.

It'd certainly explain how oddly powerful TotK Ganondorf becomes.
