So I’m curious about Goldenflower’s reaction! We’ve seen how aggressively she reacts when kits or young cats are put in danger (ie. Fireheart being left out alone). So I was surprised she allowed the ceremony to proceed. Is Bluestar’s failing mental health the reason why she didn’t react more strongly and shut that shit with Aspen/Ash/Cloud down? Also where do the clans draw the line in regards to someone like Bluestar when they’re not stable enough to really be held accountable, but they are putting other clanmates in danger through their actions?
There's a couple things going into this, so bear with me.
This whole situation is extremely difficult for everyone in a position of power, let alone the average warrior. Ideally - that is, how the Clans imagine stuff like this to go in stories - the leader can be disobeyed and disregarded by their followers, no questions asked, the instant they fuck up or do something dangerous. The matriarch has all the power over kits, the deputy can step in as the proper head of the Clan, the elders will be looked to and the seers have all of StarClan to give out judgements and commands. This is a sort of checks-and-balances type of society! It's going to be so easy to handle if it ever does happen!
Realistically, though, Clans are hardwired to obey their leaders above everyone else. It's why Brokenstar got away with everything for so long, it's why Tigerclaw would have been so much more dangerous if he'd gotten there, and it's what's allowing Bluestar to keep her position even though her mind is visibly failing. Leaders aren't untouchable, theoretically, but it is so very hard for a Clan to look at the cat who's so important to their society that they have an entirely unique suffix just to denote their rank and tell themselves "I refuse to honor them and do as they say", even if they have a good reason, or several. Even at this point, ThunderClan will obey their leader over their matriarch, and the matriarch will be forced to go along with this, not knowing what else can be legally done.
To disobey says so much about the warrior and the Clan as a whole: they made a mistake placing such massive responsibilities on this cat's shoulders, they have nowhere to put the demoted cat that will go smoothly, they're threatening the unity and structure of the Clan by shaking the very foundation of what they've grown up and lived with. It's so hard for a cat, let alone a warrior, to adjust to severe changes like that, especially ones that imply something at fault within themselves - which, inherently, following a bad leader for any length of time will shine a light on. Sometimes it's easier to keep silent - or, at the most, mutter complaints to your friend while doing nothing.
There's another aspect of this botched apprentice ceremony: the apprentices themselves. Changing from a kit to an apprentice is such an important, valuable, special thing for everyone; it's the biggest change in your life so far and it marks you as ready to serve your Clan and grow up to be someone great. To go through with the ceremony and then rip away that gift from cats so young and new to the world is a particularly cruel sort of disappointment, bordering on punishment in the eyes of that kit. Can you imagine being a grade schooler, about to enter middle school, and then being told you have to go back to kindergarten because someone else fucked up your paperwork? How awful would that be?
Speckletail made about as good of a call as she could in that moment, taking the apprentices' ages, their mentors and the Clans' culture into account. Let them be apprentices until they prove they're not ready, and if they aren't, they can go back to being a kit. This sort of solves the problem in a way - the apprentices will be eager to prove they can keep their -paw's and will work hard to do so, and if they fall behind...well, maybe they can just stay in camp for another month and then come right back to training with some experience already! It's not ideal, but it's the best Speckletail could do.
As for the final question... did you know that it was believed that planting an elder tree by your door would keep the devil away?

What are the standards of sin and virtue? Is there any more reincarnation after one makes it to the tenth realm? Is there any hope of redemption for sinners? Do the sinners have any ability to influence the mortal? Are there creators besides the Almighty? Were all the realms created by the Almighty? Is there anything above the Almighty? How many God Machines are there (and are they sentient?) When you say your actions determine your actions in the next realm, does that mean the human realm is the only one with free will? Or is there a sort of karma system? Sorry for spamming, just really curious.
sorry i got overwhelmed but i am the back
on the topic of sin and virtue, you are judged by your whole actions in every realm. were you cruel but grew in another realm to be better? thatll give you some points
putting the rest under read more!!!
there is no reincarnation after the tenth realm, that's it. when the tenth realm resets, and it will eventually, everyone in it is erased.
there is hope... after the reset. before then things are too stuck in their ways unfortunately
ive spoken abt this with reed i think but sinners do have influence, and can give the same knowledge and power of the virtues, but there is a hefty cost to going the route of the sinner in that department. aka being blasted with secrets of the universe and possibly causing your mortal vessel to implode and degrade
there might be other creators. perhaps ;)
the almighty did create every realm, yes
well if the almighty made the world who made the ulmighty? theres a thinker for ye /ref
how many gods exist in folklore, how many temples to them have been erected? also yea they're sentient
the human realm is the basis, so ig it has the most free will? think of it more as generational trauma. your past life did a bad, so you are affected by the bad and can choose to propagate it or break out of it
 idk abt a karma system yet, think more for ur placement as a game score. did good thing, score goes up, bad thing score goes down.... ig it is like karma. huh
ty for the questions :33333

erik just keeps going i'm so horrible and there's no good in me charles. you should leave me. and charles keeps letting him walk away because he wants erik to stay of his own volition instead of forcing him to be by his side. charles waits again and again and again for erik to decide to stay. to pick him over revenge.
and charles is never afforded that privilege until he's the one leaving. only, erik immediately follows—mostly because he's never been one to wait for things to happen: he just does as he demands. and revenge can take a backseat for a game of chess in paris with the only person in the world who's seen him wholly for what he is and loves him anyway.

i wish people positively talked about teddie more because so much about his character is just. so so so sweet. like. he loves the investigation team so much. i feel the need to bring up how, upon seeing shadow rise prepare to probably kill the investigation team, his first instinctual response is to get between her and them - his LITERAL FIRST RESPONSE is to risk his OWN life for them. and the investigation team loves their little bear mascot so so so much also. like when teddie disappears in december the investigation team all talks about how he's their main morale and his optimism is a big motivator for them. teddie and the investigation team's friendship is what awakens teddie's persona, the narration for it says "the courage of heart required to support one's friends has been made manifest" instead of the usual "the strength of heart required to face oneself has been made manifest." teddie never fully accepts himself until december because he's still rejecting being a shadow - he doesn't need to because he knows his friends will support him no matter what. teddie's motivation for making his human form is for the sake of his friends - he admittedly specifically names the girls, but i think a lot of his attraction to the girls is a misinterpretation of platonic love.
just. teddie is so so so full of love. i FULLY headcanon that his human form is quite literally held together by love and friendship because those are such important aspects of teddie's character. it's really really sweet to me and it makes me so disappointed how often people just gloss over that stuff it is just. so so so sweet and cute and AAAAAAA I LOVE THIS STUPID BEARRRRR. it honestly makes me really happy that teddie has friends who love and support him so much,,,,,,,,, 🥹

PART 3/3
Part 1 ,, Part 2
Mooch
Personality Headcanons: She is NOT "Teehee :3" she's the kind of girl to show up to your house and commit arson. She's feral, she's dangerous, she's killed 4 people. She was probably arrested for murder and was doing community service to get out early when she got recruited for TF4. You could say she's a little..... nuts :D Physical Headcanons: I don't really have any. ~5" Gender: Puts female on legal documents but always says something different when asked for her gender. Things like "Wouldn't you like to know, weather boy?" or "Ur mom." or "Whatever keeps you busy while I rob you." Pronouns: Any she doesn't care. Orientation: I don't have one. Post Game: She probably wasn't impacted much if at all. Opinions: She's a really funny side character. I adore cute characters who are batshit insane. 3.5/5.
Moray Personality Headcanons: They're a Mettaton stan. They act like a kowkey k-pop stan. They make aesthetic Mettaton gifs, reads/writes x reader fanfic, etc. Because they don't like conflict they don't get into internet beef though. At first they really only joined Starlo's posse for the aesthetic but it turns out they actually really enjoy sword fighting so they stuck around. Because they don't really like fighting or conflict so they usually do all the office work and they don't mind. Physical Headcanons: None really. ~ 5'07" Gender: Nonbinary (Is this canon?) Pronouns: They/Them Orientation: I don't have one. Post Game: They where pretty sad finding out about Clover's passing. It impacted them just not as hard as some of the others. They where able to get back up pretty quickly. Opinions: Gender. But sort of bland in personality. 2.5/5.
Starlo (Okay he's my fave in this specific iteration so just bear with me)
Personality Headcanons: He tends to have a bad habit of avoiding his problems. He tries to keep himself busy so he's not alone with his thoughts for too long. If he has absolutely nothing to do, he sits outside with an acoustic to keep his hands busy. Spanish was his first language and he often mispronounces English words. His mother handmade most of his gabàns. When he was really young and still lived on the surface he loved looking up at the stars. When he was in middle school he had a phase where he hated humans but grew out of it. He was comphet with Ceroba in high school but she clocked him and broke up with him. They stayed friends for a really long time anyway. He's ambidextrous. He's Ceroba's age so ~40-43. A lot of people interpret his sprite as having shade over his eyes but I like to think of it like a bandit mask.... that's prescription. His safety goggles are also prescription. He's really near sighted. He's also a pretty solid horse rider. You can't tell me this man DOESN'T smoke weed idc. He listens to southern rock, country, latino rock, and classic rock.
Physical Headcanons: The parts of his face that stick out emote with him. They turn up when he's happy/excited. They go down when he's sad. They kinda >:|< when he's mad. From growing up doing farm work and then deciding to become a sheriff too he's in really good physical condition and could probably lift most people over his head. His eyes are completely white. He's covered in a thin lair of fur that he grows out in certain places (chest, arms, beard, etc.). Ed is really jealous of his beard. The longer his fur is the darker it gets. Yellow to green-blue to dark blue (looks black). Fangs because I said so. Gender: Cis man Pronouns: He/Him Orientation: Gay and somewhere on the asexual spectrum.
Post Game: He was absolutely devastated the days following Clover's death. He barely got out of bed. Ed had to be the one to get him to even eat anything. He was really out of it, sort of dazed, for several weeks while he just tried to get back to work. He was a little torn between continuing trying to be the town's sheriff or going back to being a farmer. So, until then he just helped his parents out with whatever they needed. As he did, he reconnected with his childhood. He looked back at the boy he used to be, but unable to forget about Clover, he never forgot about the man he wanted to become. Clover had been so excited to meet a real-life cowboy that it almost felt disrespectful to throw out that pipedream now. So, he tried to find a middle ground between the two. Some days he'd be up at the first crack of dawn working in the field and other times he'd be the figurehead of his town, keeping the peace and keeping spirits high. Eventually he managed to pull himself out of a continuous low mood. Because of that, he managed to clear his mind enough to move on through the stages of grief. He and Ceroba got into a fight over what had happened. He felt like he owed it to Clover to at least try. Finally ending on the note that his freedom wasn't worth the life of someone he viewed as his own flesh and blood child - unlike what Ceroba did to her child which really WAS her blood. Their long-time friendship came to a bitter end, and he found himself turning to alcohol as a coping mechanism for a few months before a heartfelt talk with Ace pulled him back to his senses.
At one point when he was working in the field his mother called him inside and said she had finally finished the gabàn she had been making for Clover - he had requested it several months or so at this point but forgot to tell her what had happened. Re-opening old wounds he told her what had happened. He kept the gabàn and keeps it on his guitar case. Like Martlet, it was probably another decade or so before he really felt like his life was starting to move on. He had only known Clover for maybe a couple weeks at most but losing them felt like losing his own kid. He didn't know how long Clover was planning to stick around but had full intentions to legally adopt them. He successfully managed to move on, but he never forgot them.
Opinions: Like I said before he's my favorite character in this specific game. He's that right mix of serious and silly that really scratches an itch in my soul. His design is peak, it just speaks to me. I literally remember yelling at my TV when his design got revealed because I loved it instantly. HOWEVER, I do think that maybe his character could have been written a little better. It's pretty clear he's a complex character but the way he was written I feel like didn't fully convey that. 4/5.
THAT'S ALL! HAVE A GOOD DAY!!

I'm late-ish to the beta party, but writing this sort of stuff out helps me internalize it for myself, so i'm doing it anyway.
data collected so far:
in recruitment, you spend "gold tickets" (Access Permission) to get 1 pull. These are relatively rare. I've collected a handful from doing starter missions, and I suspect you'll get a trickle from dailies, too.
You can exchange collapse pieces for access permission at a rate of 150 -> 1, so they're analogous to stellar jade. You get these from first time clear rewards, getting a certain amount of stars on completed missions... just like I have 12000 jade saved up, I figure you'll wind up with lots of this over time.
You get Krolik, your first 4-star character, from a forced standard banner pull, just like Asta in HSR.
There's a beginner banner guarantees a 5-star ("elite doll") after 50 pulls, and you only need 8 tickets per 10 pulls, so in total it's 40 tickets to get your guarantee.
There's a hard pity limit on the standard banner of 80 pulls; also, after 260 pulls on the standard banner, you can choose one of the non-limited elite dolls guaranteed. I expect that hard pity limit will also carry to event banners. (Also, you're guaranteed a mid-rarity drop every 10 pulls.)
Soft pity kicks in at 58 pulls (thank you for including that very clearly in the rules, Mica!). Before that point, your base rate for elite drops is 0.3% and your base rate for "standard" (mid-rarity) drops is 3%.
We don't have any event banners in the beta, so it's unclear whether pity will carry over between event banners or if it's "use it or lose it".
Guns and dolls share a banner. You can brute force rare weapons using redundant pieces (though it's very expensive) but there appears to be no guarantee you'll get a character you want from the gacha at all.
The "fodder" you get from gacha are weapons. Weapons also come with rarity.
Weapons exist within types, and dolls can use any weapon of a compatible type (Groza can use the QBZ-191 but she can't use a three-line rifle or an LMG). There appears to be implications of preference or affinity for certain weapon frames, but right now it's unclear to me how much this is just flavor text vs actually gameplay relevant - maybe you can only use rare weapons on their "intended" doll?
You get withdrawal receipts from low rarity weapon drops (2x per) and "redundant pieces" from higher rarity stuff (12x per mid rarity and 60x per high rarity, be it dolls or guns). You also get extra redundant pieces for duplicates of dolls you already have at max fortification (see below).
Receipts can be used to purchase basic supplies - things like combat reports, a handful of access tickets, doll and weapon enhancement materials - but there's a limit on how many per month, and the beta has a very aggressive economy that will clearly be much more limited on release, so I can't tell you exactly how many of things you can get per month. Unless they really intend for you to get 100,000 combat reports a month.
Very high numbers of redundant pieces can be used to buy elite weapons (instead of pulling them), but they really are very expensive. Looks like the available stock rotates every month.
Duplicate dolls give Neural Archives which appear to be analogous to fragments from Neural Cloud -- they're needed for "Neural Fortification". These are linear upgrades that, on the surface, appear uncannily analogous to HSR Eidolons; however they also appear to be the only way to enhance a doll's skills? Unclear how necessary they are, or if there's a way to get archives other than by pulling dupes.

Hiii first of all love your book and your characters. The way you convey emotion and characters is really admiring. I love how all the Characters feel alive, with all of their relationships and internal conflicts and ugghhhhh it's so good.
I want to ask (and sorry if it's been asked before), how do you develop such complex relationships between characters? And how do you manage to stay consistent with the stablishment of those relationships? You see, I'm writing a book myself, it's not a warriors rewrite but similar. It started as a warrior cats fanfiction tho. It's about a group of animals that live in a community, and they have to fight another community because of a conflict of interests and a war that's been going on for generations.
All of that aside, they are a community, so I have a lot of characters and a lot of relationships and internal conflicts between them, as their community is similar to warrior cats. But, and here's the but, I'm having trouble when writing down the relationships between all of them. I want it to be natural between them all, but I'm not sure how! I just have two main characters, and although I'm able to write them interacting with secondary characters, I have trouble portraying the relationships between those secondary characters. So, I wanted to know what was your process of sketching them down, or simply your thoughts on that topic
Hello and thank you for the kind words! I very much like being able to espouse my thoughts on the subject of writing, so I'll do what I can here to help you.
My immediate reaction is to say that writing down how the relationships are "supposed to be" in the first place is just going to waste your time. It always is for me, at least. I've found that things like OC ask games and bios about characters have become increasingly unhelpful as I've progressed in my writing skills (if you'll allow a brag), and I rarely trust them when presented with them for other people's characters. The reason is that "On Paper OC" and "In Action OC" are two very different things more often than not! You can say that a character is snide and unimpressed with most things, but then you write them in a story and their behavior changes from what you started with - the plot, the worldbuilding, and the other characters will shift and shape their personality.
All that to say that my suggestion is: figure it out as you go! If your characters have strong enough traits and opinions, they'll bounce off of each other more organically and surprise you with how their friendships and rivalries turn out. They don't even need to have Real Person levels of depth; simply having a couple quirks like "hates taking baths" and "overly friendly to strangers" put together gives you plenty to work with, both for them and for the people they interact with. Even minor characters dealing with other minor characters is a lot easier when you throw them together and see what happens. You don't need to have an iron grip on characters like one would a plotline. They'll tell you what feels right in practice.
In terms of consistency, another fun thing is that relationships shift over time as people get used to each other, or dramatic things happen, or interests part ways. This factors into fiction too! Don't feel trapped by how two characters start feeling about each other - let them change as feels natural. If you have two friends who start off jokingly insulting each other, and then the writing begins to let them be more vulnerable and patient, go with it! There are rarely times where a relationship should stay stagnant. You're kayaking down a river, not going in circles in a pond. Things will change as they move forward, and it's best to adjust and work with it than force it to stay the same.
Something I do pretty much all day (even when I'm supposed to be doing something else, whoops) is imagine aimless interactions between my many, many characters in different stories, including this fanfic. It's a great deal of fun, but moreover it lets me get a feel outside of writing for how two fictional people will talk to each other, and what they'll talk about. Occasionally those interactions do get to be written down as practice or put in the official story, but just thinking about it for my own enjoyment fleshes out things like nothing else does.
...That got obscenely long and I apologize. Hopefully at least some of this helped you out! Good luck on your writing, and I hope you have as much fun as I do figuring stuff like this out.

Animistic and architectural theory
On the Animation of the Inorganic discussing Alfred Kubin's novel The Other Side in the chapter "Malicious Houses". One of my favorite paragraphs of the entire book with it's discussion of the "dark language of houses" seen in this little strange corner of Modernist writing and art.
I'm sure this would mortify the author, but the idea of buildings wresting agency for themselves, often to the detriment of their inhabitants and human neighbors is hot. No other way to put it.
ID below the readmore.
[In Meyrink the houses speak with a "suspicious, malicious grudging," but the things they say are what one fundamentally refuses to hear: "You're not done with us yet; you belong to us; we don't desire your happiness; happiness doesn't go with this house". (41) Although the houses' speech seems to be the sign of their malevolent omnipotence, in fact, it is nothing more than the mixed mumbling--curses and sighs--of their downfall. In the finale of Kubin's urban anti-utopia, temples and houses "clambered on top of one another" are heard to "utter strange words in a horribly loud rasping tone--a dark, incomprehensible language of houses." (42) While ostensibly attached to ancient doctrines of architecture parlante, Kubin's and Meyrink's constant noises announce the immolation and rebirth of an autonomously animated architecture. This building for is essentially mute--no more "whistling" or "grinning"; nevertheless, it is an architecture of "full speech" emptied of all anthromorphic chatter. END ID]

ymmv obviously this is just a take and half hc but i have to think abt how the wol fights or more specifically, who they fight with.
it always seems to transpire that for one reason or another, the wol fights a lot of their battles alone (in terms of npcs, obviously. you have other players but they're nebulously extant ingame). arr is a whole "throw the wol at the problem"-fest, it kind of doesn't even start to occur to people that "hey maybe sending them to fight this big bad alone isn't always a great idea" until like, stormblood. but even then, the scions and any other allies that are around are very often outright prevented from helping you for one reason or another.
frequently you're fighting a battle on multiple fronts, and there's no real option for them except to focus on their own fight and put their faith in the wol elsewhere. or they get taken away or left behind while you press on. then there's the fact that you're frequently fighting primals, which the majority of characters literally can't help you with for most of the game without jeopardizing their sanity. like, you have other people in the room with you when you fight a primal once, and it's actually a huge problem bc you and arenvald can't really focus on fighting when you're running back and forth trying to shield people from tempering. combined with the limited pool of people who are even on level with a primal in combat to start with, people who can actually assist you with those fights are few and far between.
but even beyond the material reasons! if there's a "canon" wol they're obviously someone who's almost comically obedient, but they do silently exercise agency on occasion... and it is almost exclusively to pick fights, usually alone. like, fucking zodiark. you get sent up to the moon, expecting to maybe fight, like, zenos, fandaniel, nope! the big guy himself. and the wol makes the active decision to not even phone home and say "hey, just so you know, i'm fighting the father of all primals, idk if there's time for you to get up here but. just so you're aware. just in case i cannot kill zodiark by my fucking self. that's what's going on on the moon right now." nah you just jump in there, no need to bother your friends, they're busy, you can take care of this one.
and then this obviously comes to a blatant head in ultima thule, where your friends all but say "we're prepared to sacrifice ourselves along with you if it means the world is safe" and the wol literally denies them that right. they pull the scions back from death and then send them away, and remain behind alone, fully aware they were facing a probably-unwinnable fight. (and i have a whole other fucking essay about the narrative ramifications of zenos' arrival in this context and others but. another time. this post is too long anyway) my point being that's one of the most blatant moments of pc agency and it's to remove others from a battle and stay behind alone.
idk i think a canon wol trait is a fixation on their own sacrifice, a desire to put themself in harm's way because otherwise someone else might do it and that's intolerable. and the narrative often conspires to validate them on this. and it's. interesting? i'm rotating it.
