i think one of my goals for mainblog is to get maddy to follow me back one day

#incredibly silly and pointless goal #since it is not like i know her at all #or have any particular reason to care about her #ive just been following her for a long time #and thought she was really cool for a while #instead of just like normal cool #maybe a better goal is for me to get it so that every mutual who i have who has a partner who i follow also becomes mutuals with me #which is like lily and annas wife and maddy and maybe one other person #oh whoever lillyvia and iris are with who i follow too #but i dont know their relationships well if at all #nor do i really care to #but yeah i just think those people #that could be a fun challenge #not that i know how i would do it #and also annas wife probably has reason to never want to interact with me #so i should probably just table that one forever

I had so many different versions get scrapped! AH!#The original intention was to make this a bonus ep in PD-MDZS but we kind of...don't come back to this topic.#So it is an aside! And I love making follow up comics for polls!#A huge bummer that this is the only time I ever got to show off my Yin Tiger Tally design...To me it was like a funny little bug creature.#And now it is forever broken...Broke ass bug...#And of course it is artsy and decorated with a tassel. WWX has an artist's eye.#His science experiment *will* look rad as hell and be nearly indestructible.#Speaking of designs - I chickened out of showing off my real headcanon design for the end of YLLZ era. When penelope was sassily like oh I'll marry you if you make a living bed out of this tree right here! Cue penelope stumbling over odysseus very very carefully digging up the tree "because how else is he going to get it to itacha we can't have a wedding bed out in the open in sparta duh"

based on an idea @username8746489 had where sylvie discovered nightmare fuel for the first time on accident while getting bullied by some older kids (and pushing him further into social isolation now that he's known as "that scary kid who could summon someone's worst fear")

#♦️charlie's art #epithet erased #sylvester ashling #sylvie ashling #ok i have a lot to yap about here hold on #this was a challenge to make since i was imagining it with no dialogue and limited colors i hope i pulled it off #because of those two things something i had to think a lot about was how the color progression changes the mood #I wasn't originally gonna add that last panel with the aftermath but un suggested the idea of the bullies being vague shadowy figures #initially until sylvie realizes what he did and is forced to see that “that was a real person with their own fears and insecurities”#so then they're drawn more detailed #sylvie and the bullies also aren't in the same panels together until the last one because he's just so below them that he isnt worthy of #sharing equal space with them. these kids are highschoolers. if sylvie wants to look at them he'll always have to look up #and also because i was struggling with their height difference #i hope the second page doesn't make it look too much like sylvie summoned a fire 😭 it kinda helps with the mood but what he summoned is #supposed to be ambiguous and i dont want it to look like i was born yesterday and think nightmare fuel ONLY summone fire #but its hard to make it NOT look like fire when i can only work with orange #the lineart starts out clean and gets messier as the conflict progresses to represent a lack of control #and also it creates kind of a shakey/unstable effect which emphasizes sylvie's fear #also unintentional but i think the second page having detailed shading emphasizes the mood changes. this just got SERIOUS #oh also i used the mizu5 untrained as a color reference thats fun #ALSO SYLVIE DIDN'T KILL ANYONE im just realizing the one curled up in the last panel could be interpreted that way #that's not what i was going for #this might be unrealistic...... but we also know so little about sylvie's backstory that who's to say for sure IDK LET ME MAKE MY FAV SUFFER

I was watching someone play Undertale for the first time on youtube and the comments were like "I hope the fandom doesnt ruin this for you" Because of how common it is for youtubers to drop Undertale because of the overbearing fandom.

And it got me thinking and I think I know why this happens. Its because the neutral endings arent fun.

If I hadnt known that pacifist was the 'best' route when I first played it and gone for it.........I dont think I would have liked Undertale if I got a neutral route.

Yeah you are told you can replay and get a better ending, but if I had played Undertale and gotten one of the endings thats just a phone call and then was told "replay the whole thing to get a better ending" I wouldnt have done it. I would have felt like I wasted 8 hours.

And I think thats where the toxicity towards new players comes from.

Because even if people dont want to admit it, they know the neutral endings will probably make people go "that was the game everyone hyped up? Thats it?" and think it was ok at best. So people backseat HARD to try and make sure people get the most out of the game.

Because if you went in truly blind to Undertale and got a 'phonecall' ending, why in the world would you work hard for another ending that might just be another phone call. You would only know that the Pacifist ending is really THAT GOOD, if someone tells you.

Undertale is one of my favorite games of all time. But only because I knew to play Pacifist first

#Undertale #no mercy ends up being more fun for people then neutral because it has an extreme challenge and a spooky ending #I think chrono trigger is a good comparison because you could have the same problem if you rush to beat lavos #most of the fun of the game is in 'sidequests'#the characters arcs are completely optional #but the difference is that you cant lock yourself out of the sidequests by accidentally killing someone #the one character that is an optional kill doesnt get an arc so its not a big deal
